Oh so the audience is aware of how insanely pathetic I am. I was trying to show my girlfriend ( who does NOT listen to Dungeons and Daddies and she vaguely humors me despite not knowing about DnD in general) a bit from the show. The thing in Finding Forest Her where Nick grabs Human Gun Taylor and brings him back to Hell and he's like " Hatsun ae Mi ku" and Nick goes " no.... Don't say that" in the most disappointed voice ever.

I just wanted to show her. And the timestamps I was giving her were not working and we were frantically trying to sync up bc she couldn't find the joke. And it got worse and worse bc the joke isn't even that funny without context and we were yelling and spending too much time freaking out bc we thought Spotify was broken.

And then I begged her to stop bc the joke was actively getting less and less funny but she was DETERMINED to hear it. So then she PODCAST CUCKED ME BY LISTENING TO LIKE THE ENTIRE LAST HALF OF THE EPISODE FOR THAT ONE JOKE WHILE I SAT IN SILENCE.

AND SHE SAID LINCOLN SOUNDED LIKE MORTY...... I LOST IM A LOSER

Today I learned that there’s a Taylor Swift wiki and they have a whole page labeled “current love interest”

ive been putting a lot of thought into why this:

triggers uncanniness more than this:

and i think it mostly comes down to the silouettes of the characters and the overreliance of cgi for the bodies.

in the stage productions of cats, there's a lot of work put into each cat's costume. unless the characters are intentionally meant to have similarities (e.g: mungojerrie and rumpleteazer, munkustrap and tugger, coricopat and tantomile, etc), they all look pretty distinct. even when characters have similar color pallets, they have distinct enough silouettes that it's easy to keep them separate in your head.

here is demeter, bombalurina, and jellylorum in the 98 movie. they have similar colors, but each detail in their hair, ears, shoulders, and even tails stands out and helps them look distinct from one another.

now let's take a look at the same trio in the 2019 movie.

despite each cat now having a different color pallet, they all have the same silouette and blend into the ensemble. each of the character is incredibly important to the cast, and instead of being easily picked out from the crowd, i had to look up demeter and jellylorum on the fan wiki just so i could remember what they looked like. honestly, if you didn't know what taylor swift looked like, would you be able to pick bombalurina from the crowd?

in my opinion, the cg fur definitely does not help. it smoothes out purposeful imperfections in the stage designs. also, oddly enough, almost none of the cats have any fluff around their heads, leading to a very weird silouette. they literally just look like humans with ears and tails.

just look at tugger in both films.

would you be able to believe that the 2019 version is supposed to be a big, fluffy maine coon cat? why is his silouette so different from 2019's munkustrap when they're supposed to be brothers?

in the 1998 movie (and all stage productions if we're being honest) it is incredibly easy to see these two are related. even without matching colors, they have similar silouettes.

in the 2019 version, munkustrap just looks like any other cat. i genuinely don't think anyone who has only seen the 2019 movie would know that tugger and munk are brothers, let alone that they are old deut's sons.

cats 2019 was a failure in many, many ways, including adapting the story and butchering the songs and characters. but it's so visually offputting because of the decision to smooth out any physical quirks the cats originally had in their designs. they're too sleek and just blend in with everyone around them. it's genuinely so disappointing to see such a colorful, vibrant, and uniquely costumed show turned into a muddy cg nightmare.

I cannot stop thinking about "The Last Great American Dynasty"

There's an obscure, independent folk singer-songwriter whose work I've followed since she released a double album debut during the pandemic. It's all moody, introspective pop-folk - acoustic guitar and pianos against the occasional 808 beat.

While I'm clearly not the target audience, there is one song in particular that has stuck with me ever since the very first time I heard it.

Let's discuss.

Them FF6 Blond Shades

In the spirit of procrastination, I’ve been thinking about hair and eyes. It’s one of those things that I can’t get out of my head until I write it down somewhere (even though I don’t do art and I don’t describe jack shit when writing🤷🏻‍♀️)

In ProJared’s review of FF6, he says the sprites were created first, and that Amano used them as inspiration for his concept art. Regardless, both are canon even if contradictory, and I’d say it’s up to each to choose their preference because reasons 😌

Terra’s fandom wiki says she has green or blonde hair and green or violet eyes. I didn’t know her eye color was debatable too (but look, her hair looks greenish on the first image 😚). I like her being as otherworldly as can be, so I prefer green hair and violet eyes.

Celes and the twins have blond hair and blue eyes. The sprites and concept art gave them the same colors, and they’re so alike that some NPC mistook Celes for Sabin 🤨 (maybe those three have reality-bending levels of sexy. Just saying 🤷🏻‍♀️).

To me Celes seems paper-white-pale with light blond hair and light blue eyes.

Soraya Saga, who created the twins, noted that they have “honey-blond” hair. I was a bit apprehensive about this, but the twins’ regality is pretty heavy-handed and a shade of blond that is more golden goes along those lines. Also in Figaro, blue eyes mean royalty, but I think there’s more to this idea if we ignore that it wasn’t even canon take the parallels from Xenogears Fatima lore to complement the FF6 Figaro lore. It’s not just blue eyes, but a specific shade of blue that runs in the family. I think honey-blond hair goes nicely with a darker shade of blue eyes. So going by this, the twins’ colors would differ from Celes’.

When I learned about the “Figaro blue eyes” I also wondered if Gerad should hide his eye color (especially from Figaroan thieves), and as it turns out, his sprite has brown eyes. This could be just a lazy color swap, but I like how this can add up to the lore 🙃

For Kefka, the wiki specified blond hair and green eyes. There’s no specification for Gau, but his sprite’s eyes are green and his hair looks like Kefka’s, less yellow and more ashy than Celes’.

This Gau art has light blue eyes, so I guess that’s another possibility 🤷🏻‍♀️ There’s also the other Amano arts that show him with green hair. I like to think his hair is blond but not that clean. He’s like a sloth growing algae on his fur 😅

Locke’s colors aren’t in the wiki, but I like dark ash blond for him because it resembles his sprite. His eyes are consistently brown.

Relm and Clyde’s hair look pretty similar, somewhere between Locke’s and Kefka’s colors. I think Taylor Swift’s color could be ok for them too (more like Locke's hair).

Relm’s wiki says she has blond hair and blue eyes. Clyde’s sprite has black eyes but Shadow’s look blue, and I like her having her daddy’s eyes 🥰 (ignore that her sprite has green eyes and one Amano art gave her amber eyes).

There’s no info about Leo’s colors, but many in the fandom make him to be black. Years ago I learned about a group of dark-skinned people with blond hair known as Melanesians. Maybe Leo is one of them 😁

His sprite is white-skinned and has blue eyes, which can also be an option, but I prefer the super rare Melanesian ethnicity for him. It makes me happy 😌

Setzer is said to have silver hair and purple eyes, which probably means he’s albino. I think he uses that purple shampoo to make his yellowish/whiteish hair look silver 😌

I don't understand how and why swifties and Taylor herself think of Reputation as a rock influenced album. Last night I listened to it and it's top to bottom EDM with taylors voice laid over it. Specifically in songs like Gorgeous, Dancing with Our Hands Tied, King of My Heart, and ...Ready for It?

YES. I was just gonna post about rep because they previewed "reputation (taylor's version)" on handmaid's tale.

i've always maintained that the production on rep is actually some of the strongest across all of her albums - like you said, it's got an EDM, dance, slightly club feel (although doesn't push that sound so far that it's not easy to listen to). while joseph kahn is controversial, he boosted this feel a lot with the endgame mv- tay hanging out with ed sheeran and cool-looking extras, drinking and dancing late into the night.

to your point, wiki characterizes rep this way: Swift produced the album with Jack Antonoff, Max Martin, and Shellback, to create an electropop, synth-pop, and R&B record with elements of urban styles such as hip-hop, trap, and EDM. no mention of rock!!!

circling back to the rep tv preview - it's exactly what i predicted, a completely useless redo of her strongest production at that time. she doesn't need the money, 'owning' the original recording at this point feels goofy since she can reperform the music without restriction at shows, and it does feel like it undermines the original work, to me. taken as a microcosm of her life, her need to recontextualize and rewrite her history is sad to me. why not celebrate the album for what it was at that point in her life instead of trying to undercut scooter's pennies per replay?
