I've been having a lot of fun with [Livly Island] lately, if you like dress up, decorating and/or clicking on cute little critters that squeak when you pick them up I definitely recommend it! As an artist I really enjoy seeing all the creative Island design concepts, and how you can mix and match pieces with other sets.

You need to be able to handle gacha mechanics though… I'll talk more under the cut.

The FOMO levels are definitely high since there are SO many good banners and also "these items will not return" shops/events now and then so you will surely get rinsed if your defense stats are low. However, normal banners stay for 6 months and there's a trading feature if you pull dupes, so it's possible to get the things you want even if you ignore specific banners! fwiw it's decently generous when it comes to giving you currency...

Trading also means Player Economy stuff is part of the game, perhaps other pet sites has taught you it's fun to invest in hot items to sell for a lot later? As a fresh f2p it'll take a while until you have good enough trade fodder to truly play around on that front tho.

The actual gameplay otherwise is just "visit other people's islands to water their tree or pick their fruit" rinse repeat. Riveting stuff I know, but the low time investment is a plus in itself.

If you do give it a go here's a couple tips for early on: After you've decided on a Livly buddy and they show you some pre-made hom avatars to choose from, pick the one with prettiest hairstyle and/or eyes since it'll most likely take a while until you can collect better options. (btw, you can both change your Livly or adopt more later so don't get too stunlocked by the big list of choices)

There's a lot of banners active at once, make sure to click More-> to view all of them when it's time to do your freebie 10-draw. (Also make sure it's the right tab so you don't accidentally pull the Island side if you want Hom dress up items!)

Hi! TY for being here with us 💙 I have a big problem with team green and there is… no chemistry between the main in tb. I mean older Rhaenyra has a minus chemistry with Daemon. The same goes for Mysaria. Baela feels too mature near pretty teenage-coded Jace. Corlys and Rhaenys have a bit of chemistry but rather in the first season and more like situational chemistry lol (in some scenes it shows in some doesn’t). Technically, Daemon had chemistry with younger Rhaenyra, both versions of Laena, Alys Rivers (I was amazed by their duo). With Mysaria a bit in the first season. And maybe with Alyssa/his first wife/with Alicent in that scene in the first ep. Yet, that passed out quickly.

But u know what? The greens have chemistry between everyone. Even between supposed mother/son (Alicent x Aemond for example). Or brothers (Aemond x Aegon). U could get which team is my favourite one pretty easily lol

I think Milly and Matt had such a electric chemistry. Alys and Daemon relationship was a highlight for me if S2. I really like what she said about their dinamic confirming what I believe to be true.

We know Nettles is not getting here, what is so unfortunate. But if you ask me, between Alicent, Rhaena and Alys to play the agent that turn apart Daemyra I much prefer Alys. Add the possibility of Aemond, and all make such a messy fun for me 😅. But I think that would be too soup opera even for Ryan and Sarah.

I think maybe is Matt because he is so charming but he always elevate scenes with any partner he is in. Although Him and Emma, have no romantic chemistry at all. Both can act pretty well so I think that is why they scenes some what work. But we don't see the same with the tb kids. The actors don't have chemistry but also the characters, while Daemyra, Matt and Emma can milk nuance, Harry and Bethany work with absolute nothing. There is no romantic intimacy between them. You right, in many ways Baela fell into the role of Jace's older sister or a friend. But I feel anyone could play the character she plays when interacting with Jace.

Summary: Being the youngest of five is always hard, especially when they pounce at the slightest hair out of line. Sometimes the art of deflection can sting.

Alan tried to remain calm as the Captain’s grip on him became almost painful. The husky man forced them forward as Alan desperately tried to get his brother’s attention. Virgil was grabbing extra thermal blankets and hand warmers from the corner. The field medic was so engrossed with his task, and Alan loved his instincts for anything medical, but this was one time he needed his older brother to sense something was up.

Almost on cue, the chestnut-haired Tracy paused in his work and turned around slowly. Virgil felt his chest almost drop into his stomach as the sight of Alan helmetless being held at gunpoint met his eyes. He subtly activated his watch and coms before approaching the situation. “Captain, what’s going on?”

“There’s plenty of room to place some of that coal aboard here. You’re going to load it aboard your craft now!” the greying man screamed, tightening his hold on Alan as the gun pushed farther into his neck.

“Easy, Sir. We can talk about this,” Virgil tried to reason, fear for his baby brother pounding with every second. “We don’t need the gun. Can you please put it away, and we’ll talk about it?”

“Virgil, what the hell is going on?” the middle Tracy heard Scott’s concerned voice in his earpiece.

“I’m dead if at least a quarter of that shipment doesn’t survive,” Captain Sterns sneered. “I’ll kill your operative if that’s what it takes to get the message across that I mean business!” the man screamed as he cocked the gun, causing Alan to cry out in pain at the pressure against his neck.

“Virgil, I’m coming down there,” Jeff spoke next.

“No!” Virgil cried. “I hear you, okay? We’ll take the platform down now and get what you need.”

“That’s more like it. You’re both coming with me,” the Captain ordered.

Virgil led the man back onto the rescue platform. The middle Tracy took in a steadying breath as he heard Alan hiss as the Captain yanked the teen forward. “Captain Sterns,” Virgil hesitated. “I have to radio our team that we are going back down to the ship, or they will wonder what is going on. It will only take a moment.”

“If you tip them off, your man is as good as dead,” Sterns warned, his finger playing with the trigger.

Virgil held up his hands. “I won’t, I promise. Please don’t hurt him.”

“Be quick!”

Virgil nodded as he met the determined but fearful eyes of his baby brother. Alan remained composed on the outside, but those baby blue orbs that always expressed so much emotion screamed how scared Alan was. Virgil knew he had to find a way out of this that would not only save his little brother but the passengers on board. “Commander, do you read?” he asked, pretending to press his coms for the first time. “Please advise, we have a crew member unaccounted for and are returning to do a quick search.”

“F.A.B. Virgil, be careful.”

“F.A.B,” Virgil responded as he fidgeted with an item along his belt. The middle Tracy never took his eyes off his little brother. “We are clear, Captain.”

Alan watched Virgil, studying his movements. Out of the Captain’s view, Alan could see his brother reaching inside the small pouch that typically contained medical supplies. The youngest Tracy met Virgil’s now stern gaze; the field medic’s body was stiff. Virgil moved toward the two slowly. Alan could feel Captain Sterns growing uneasy behind him.

“What are you doing?” the older man asked.

“I have to press the control manually,” Virgil said, keeping calm. “You are standing by it.”

The Captain turned his head, looking for the so-called switch. Virgil knew it was now or never. “ALAN, DROP!” the middle Tracy shouted and lunged toward the crazed Captain, plunging a syringe into the man’s neck. The two wrestled, causing the gun to go off. Virgil punched the man, knocking the Captain out cold as the fast-acting sedative took full effect.

Virgil leaned back, breathing hard, his honey eyes immediately searching for his baby brother. “Alan!” he cried as he worked his helmet off and rushed toward his prone sibling. “Allie, are you okay?”

Almost in shock, Alan looked up at him before returning his gaze to a hole along the platform that resided just a few inches to his right.

“Alan, talk to me. Are you hit?” Virgil asked as he frantically began searching for a gunshot wound.

“I’m okay,” the blonde finally answered, pushing himself to his feet allowing Virgil to place his arms around him. “I’m not hit. Are you okay?”

Virgil hugged his baby brother fiercely. “I’m alright.” An unspoken thankful prayer lingered in the air between them.

“Virgil! Alan!” they heard their father’s voice yell as Jeff entered the room. “Are you boys hit?”

“We’re okay, Dad,” Virgil said, not letting go of Alan. “Knocked the Captain out with a sedative.”

Jeff calmed himself as he hugged his two children. “Situation is contained,” he said across his earpiece. “John, notify authorities to meet us at Prudhoe Bay. Gordon, prepare for retrieval. Scott, give us a few minutes to secure and restrain Captain Sterns and then follow us to Prudhoe.”

They each acknowledged their orders, leaving Jeff to look after his middle and youngest sons. “Are you sure you’re both alright?”

Alan looked at Virgil for a moment before looking back at Jeff’s uneasy gaze. “I’m okay, Dad. I promise.”

“Might have a few new bruises to nurse in the morning, but all good,” Virgil said with a smile.

“Okay,” Jeff said, relieved. “Virgil, help me take care of the Captain. Alan, I want you to change out of that soaked uniform and then meet me in the cockpit. No arguments.”

Alan paused but then nodded and headed toward the front of Thunderbird 2.

Virgil watched Alan walk away with worry, his hazel eyes finally catching where the stray bullet had landed. It had been so damn close….

Pulling Thunderbird 2 into the hanger, Virgil tried to erase the memory of his baby brother being held at gunpoint from his mind. Turning from his seat, he met Gordon’s concerned gaze as the two noticed Alan was out cold. Alan had only mentioned his headache had increased after the incident, but otherwise, he was fine. Not wanting to cause an argument, Virgil let it go. “Go on, I’ll wake him,” Virgil told Gordon and their father. “Alan?” he called, as he gently shook his baby brother awake. The eighteen-year-old slowly opened his eyes. “We’re home, kiddo.”

Alan nodded and tried to return the smile his brother gave him. The teen fought against the exhaustion that seemed to overwhelm him. His head fiercely pounded as he felt chills running throughout his body. “Thanks,” he replied hoarsely.

Virgil eyed him with unease. “You okay?”

“I’m fine,” Alan answered quickly and stood up from his seat. “I’m going to go take a shower, and then I’ll be down for debrief.”

Virgil hesitated but decided to give Alan some space. Now was not the time to push. “Good idea, Sprout. We’ll see you in a bit.”

“Don’t call me Sprout,” Alan grumbled lightly.

“Fine, Squirt,” Virgil smiled.

Alan rolled his eyes and headed toward his room. That warm shower sounded better and better with each passing second.

Gordon watched Alan as he entered the elevator that led to the main living quarters. “Is he okay?”

Virgil sighed. “I think he will be.”

Gordon nodded, looking in the direction Alan had gone once more before returning his attention to his immediate older brother. “What about you?”

“What do you mean?” Virgil asked, confused as they exited Thunderbird 2.

“Don’t play dumb with me, Virg,” Gordon paused. “If someone pointed a gun at Alan in my presence, I would be furious and probably have nightmares for a while.”

“Yea…,” Virgil stammered. “I’d rather save the details for debrief. I only want to tell the story again once.”

“I get it,” Gordon nodded, leading them toward the elevator. “It sounded so scary over the coms.”

“It was. It was so damn close, Gordon,” Virgil admitted, his voice tight. The horror still replaying over and over in his head. “That stray bullet missed Alan by a few inches.”

“Glad you knocked that Captain a good one then,” Gordon said. “You don’t mess with a Tracy.”

Virgil smiled, catching the mischievous glint in his younger brother’s eye. “Indeed.”

“Anyway,” Gordon said, leaning against the wall of the elevator. “If you need to talk about it after debrief, I’ll be around.”

“Thanks, Gordo. I’ll keep that in mind.”

Alan slowly dried himself off from his warm shower as exhaustion threatened to overtake him once more. The warm shower did nothing to ease the ache in his body nor to warm him. He felt chilled to the bone.

Stepping out of the shower, he cleared his throat as a tickle threatened to make him cough. Looking at himself in the mirror, Alan couldn’t help but frown as he noticed dark circles hooded his eyes. His head pounded, its return the result of the likely growing bruise on the back of his neck from Captain Sterns’ gun.

Another shiver ran through Alan’s body as his mind replayed the events of the previous rescue. It could’ve ended so differently, but Alan was ever thankful for his quick thinking older brother. Sighing, the teen reached for a t-shirt from his dresser and a thick pair of lounge pants that he hoped would help get rid of the chill in his body.

Reaching for his watch from his nightstand, Alan had to steady himself against his bed as a bought of dizziness overwhelmed him. “Okay, so maybe this isn’t just a migraine,” he said aloud to himself. Maybe it was just the effects of the day?

“I just need to sleep this off,” Alan said to himself. How to get his brothers and father to give him some space? Alan knew just what to do.

Turning the light off in his room, Alan sat down on his bed and called his father on his watch.

“Alan?” Jeff answered, concerned.

“Dad, is it okay if I skip debrief and eat dinner later? I’ve got a pounding headache and really just want to stay where it’s quiet and dark.”

Jeff frowned, the events of the day weighing heavily on his mind. “Are you okay, Alan? I can send Virgil up.”

“No,” Alan sighed. “I already took another Excedrin. I think I just need to sleep it off.”

Jeff studied his son’s shadowy features for a moment before finally answering. “Okay, get some rest, and I’ll check in on you in a little while.”

“Okay, thanks Dad,” Alan smiled gratefully and disconnected the line. Taking in a deep breath, he groaned as he laid down in the bed. Alan prayed sleep was all he needed. Pulling the covers over his body, he tried to relax as his head pounded once more.

Notes about S2E2: The Beguiling Man

# During his interrogation, Shadow has electrodes put on him, as well as a serum injected (maybe a truth serum?). We get to see the first appearance of Mr. Town, from the novel - and just like in the book the scene takes place in a train, except here it is still active and moving, and filled with shining... stuff. 

# Many have tried to read in Shadow’s peculiar interrogation device a symbolism, from the Christ on the cross to the Vitruvian man.

# Czernobog mentions all the old European traditions related to the death of someone : ringing a bell, opening the windows, covering mirrors and sprinkling salt. While Wednesday is confident that a “newborn star” will rise, Czernobog thinks that Zorya Vechernyaya is definitively dead due to the lack of faith and belief in the Slavic gods. He also uses the “Nine Hells” to curse - I honestly don’t know if it is a Slavic or Russian concept. 

# The Jinn is more precisely referred to as an Ifrit.

# As usual, Mr. Wednesday is also called Votan and Grimnir, two of the alternative names of Odin. More precisely, Votan/Wotan (Odin’s name in Old German) is used by Czernobog and Grimnir (the “hidden one”, “the masked one”) by Mama-Ji. 

# Mama-Ji mentions she needs to swap her “week-end shift” with Arjun. Arjun, or Arjuna, is the mythical hero of the Hindu epic Mahabharata. 

# While the serum is what I assume to be a truth serum (which is something around which numerous myths and legends were centered, and that fed popular culture, media and is part of the “classic tropes” or shadowy organizations), the electrodes are visibly to give Shadow electrochocs if he refuses to answer. Mr. Town is visibly aware of the Old Gods and the New Gods, and refer to them as deities (contrary to his book version who believed the gods were simply aliens). Mr. Town refers to Odin as “Cargo” also known as “All-Father, Grimm, Wednesday”. 

# Shadow’s mother refers to the Statue of Liberty as Libertas, the Roman goddess - which is a foreshadowing of her later mention. Many fans like to reinterpret the words of Shadow’s mother about “spreading her messages” as her being a priestress or even the goddess Libertas herself. But I think that’s a bit too far-fetched.

# Mr. Town (who refers to the New Gods as the “gods of progress”) explains that Mr. World sent him to kidnap Shadow because Mr. World wants to know why a simple guy like him, a random mortal man, would be chosen and treasured by Wednesday. 

# Mr. World explains that he allowed the Old Gods to gather together merely because as a result it was much easier to “chop all of their heads at once” like an hydra - the monster from the Greek mythology which could be defeated only if all of its heads were permanently destroyed. 

# The walls of the train are so weird... what are they?

# Mad Sweeney says he knows a “devil” in New-Orleans. Everyone theorized (and were right) that he meant the Baron Samedi. 

# As I mentionned in another post, all the “jumbo screens of Time Square” seen in TB’s quest for Media hint of her future transformation: advertisements, news channel, pop-art colorful ads and “animesque” like slogans for “Kawaii Media”. There are also advertisements for Xie Com and references to the future appearance of Argus. Technical Boy clearly expresses his arrogance and self-centeredness: he calls Media “retro”, says that art is “irrelevant”, he claims that he is “mankind’s greatest achievement”, “the compass rose” and “fucking binary”. At the opposite, Media claims that “Art is the most valuable means of insight into the direction of our collective purpose.” She�� explains that she isn’t hiding but merely learning and observing, adapting and learning to survive. She also presents her own tactics and methods when dealing with humans as such: “The appetite for distraction is infinite. I can choke them with trivia, drown them with passive pleasure and devastate their spirituality with baby talk.” And that “there is no distinction between education and entertainment”. 

# We are presented with “The Hoard” of Mad Sweeney, which he calls “like the Backstage, but smaller” and that apparently only Sweeney can control. It is visibly where he keeps all the gold coins he keeps pulling out of his hands - and visibly a reference to the famous “treasures under the hill” of the leprechauns and fairies, which is equaled with the “burial treasures” of ancient kings and the “secret palaces” of the Tuatha dé Danaan. The hoard apparently is made mostly of the colors green and gold - there are flashes of gold, and the sound of coins dropping. During their travel through it, at one point Sweeney and Laura appear both naked, and in another shot Laura looks alive again. 

# Mr. Town lists that the New Gods offered humanity “penicillin, streaming porn and aircraft carriers that circle the globe”. He openly explains he works for those New Gods, and he strangely keeps insisting that Shadow is “unworthy” of the gods attention and time. 

# In the rest of the train, outside of the other “spooks”, we find jeeps and missiles and other military equipment. The other spooks visibly have electricity-generating weapons. In the credits, four men are merely referred to as “Mr. Town’s agent”, but two are identified as Wood and Stone from the novel: Eric Daniel plays “Mr. Wood” and Chris Mark plays “Mr. Stone”. It is unknown if this Mr. Wood is intended to be the same as the Mr. Wood from the first season, though it seems impossible - season 1 Mr. Wood being a monstrous abomination, entirely tree-like, and season 2 Mr. Wood being a mere human easily killed. 

# The coin the “mystery character”( that is of course Wednesday) holds in his hand during Shadow’s childhood first appears as a gold coin with a buffalo printed on it - before turning into a regular quarter.

# Many have tried to find what kind of flowers were the blue ones in the field Laura rests in. Some ask if they are a form of blue lotus, or waterlillies - due to a field of waterlillies (referred to as the “lake of flowers”) is one of the steps to access the Egyptian afterlife. Others have suggested they were myosotis (aka “forget me not”), flowers used a lot when it comes to memorating the deads - mostly soldiers fallen at war or victims of a genocide. 

# “Betty” is revealed to actually be the “modern” form of Odin’s steed, Sleipnir the eight-legged horse.

# A final thing some have spotted: the container Shadow stands onto when plugged to the “interrogation machine” is actually from the Vulcan factory. Many had theorized that the “Deus mortuorum” bullets used by the snipers in the previous episode had been crafted by Vulcan - and it seems that indeed Vulcan was the main weapon provider for the New Gods (or at least for the Spooks).

Everything I’m Going to Watch In May: AKA Time To Put On A New Shirt

Here we are again. Hope everyone is well. Are we making good food choices? Washing our clothes? Staying active?  Watching our quick bites? Lol I’m jk, you don’t need to be doing any of that. All you have to do is get through each day, in whatever way you see fit. Perhaps for you this includes binge-watching television. If so, welcome, you are among friends.

Even though it may appear to you all that I am perfect, I sadly must admit I am not. Two shows that I missed telling you about and have been hyped up to me:

Unorthodox (Netflix) - An ultra-Orthodox Jewish woman runs away from her arranged marriage, complications arise. Only four episodes! My mom is really pushing this one hard.

Normal People (Hulu) - Based on the Sally Rooney books that I guess I didn’t read. Secret romance! Only 30 minute eps! Don’t watch it with your mom!

Also PSA HBO MAX is launching this month! Here’s the run down:

- It’s all Warner Brothers properties (HBO, TBS, TNT, Cartoon Network, WB produced CW shows, etc) 

-Lord of the Rings, Friends, original content, etc

-If you already have HBO Now, you will be migrated over.

Yes this feels like a classic Ryan Murphy Trap, but who amongst us isn’t desperate for a distraction. What happens to be diverting for me personally is Darren Criss in that trim little vest. We are all just trying to cope. 

Into the Night (Netflix)

What if THE SUN started killing people?!? A timely reminder that it could always be worse: you could have to fly ceaselessly into the night on an airplane to escape a Death Sun. The Belgians made it so its only 6 episodes!

But it did take up a nice solid block of time! Also you can choose to make out with Daniel Radcliffe in this one soooo (still, just trying to cope).

The Great (Hulu)

Another show in the ‘quirky history’ trend, this time starring Elle Fanning as baby Catherine the Great (before she was Great). A satirical period piece with vague girl power themes? That sounds like maybe I’m making fun of it, but seriously sign me up. This is genuinely all things I want.

White Lines (Netflix)

The new show from the Money Heist creator, except instead of robbing a bank we are doing my other favorite activity: solving a cold case murder! If it even has half the flash (the victim is a DJ) and twists and turns of Money Heist (there is a group of likely suspects)  it will still be time well spent.

Sunday, May 17th

Snowpiercer (9pm on TNT)

Y’all, I truly never thought we’d see the day. To say the Snowpiercer TV series (based on the Bong Joon-ho movie) has been ‘embattled’ is the understatement of the frozen television landscape. This show was announced five years ago, has had two different showrunners, a total pilot redo, and was supposed to be on TNT, then TBS, now TNT again. No idea if this will be good, or even anything at all, but it’s become such an object of curiosity how could you not want to take a peek. Also it’s already been picked up for a season 2! Absolutely wild. Thrilled to be on the journey.

An animated musical comedy from the makers of Bob’s Burgers about the battle for the soul of Central Park. Looks fun, zany, etc. Boy, I would really like to go to a park...
