Who is Rayla talking to?
Tumblr media
We’ve all been blessed with the first peeks at season 5 of the dragon prince, which included this above pic right here.
Now what do we see?
Raylas kneeling in front of something or someone and smirking (with Stella matching her cuddle mamas look).
Zym is giving this something or someone the stink-eye.
Callum is looking at Ezran with a look that is doubtful at best, and Ezran is matching that look with even more doubtfulness.
And Soren doesn’t seem to have much of a reaction to whatever is happening here.
What does this tell us?
What this shows us is that whatever or WHOever Rayla is talking to is
Distrusted by Callum, enough so that Ezran distrusts them as well
Disliked by Zym, enough so that he’s giving this person the stinky eye instead of looking elsewhere
Unknown to Soren, which is why he’s looking to Callum and Ezran for a reaction
Someone Rayla would enjoy giving some sass to
Who do we know that matches all of these criteria? It’s someone that at least Rayla, Callum and Zym have met before, so likely a character from season two or three.
Another clue to who it might be is to see where they are
It’s cloudy, that’s for sure.
In the background, right in between Callum and Ezrans heads, you can see some wooden construct with a rope on it.
Tumblr media
Now, I’ve heard some people refer to this as a gallows, and that they must be interrupting an execution or something. But if you look real closely, you are just about able to see not just a rope, but a wheel attached to the wooden construct.
Tumblr media
So a rope on a wheel on a wooden construct, with a grey cloudy sky as a backdrop. You know where you’d have a grey cloudy sky?
At sea, during a storm
We already know that they must be going to sea this season, because another one of the sneak peek images shows Ezran in front of a stormy ocean while it rains, and we saw them on a boat in the first teaser poster for season 5
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But there was something else that we saw on that poster. And that was
Nyx, the criminal skywing elf from season 3
For those who don’t remember:
Nyx was the elf who intercepted the Lighthawk arrow with the letter that Ethari sent to the dragon queen, to inform her of Zym being alive.
Tumblr media
She’s also the one who abandoned Callum and Rayla at the midnight dessert oasis, which is probably a good reason why Callum would distrust her
Tumblr media
She also tried to kidnap Zym, which would make it likely that Zym dislikes her
Tumblr media
And yet, after causing all that trouble (which includes the part where she’s basically the reason one of Raylas mounts, and Runaans dog pet moonstrider DIED), Rayla saves her life, which probably means Rayla might feel entitled to being a bit sassy towards Nyx.
Tumblr media
And since this all happened while Rayla, Callum and Zym were in Xadia, neither Ezran nor Soren have met her before.
So in conclusion, seeing as that Nyx will be with them anyways (poster), and she’s the only one who fits to all the criteria named above, it seems as though she is the one Rayla is smiling to in that sneak peek image.
Now, why is she talking to Nyx? Might it be because she’s telling Nyx to join the dragon gang on their next endeavor? (In return for having saved her life from the soulfang serpents in season 3)? And if so, why Nyx of all people?
Alas, that may be a theory for another day ;)
But one thing’s for certain: Nyx is making a comeback in season 5, and I for one cannot wait to see her again!

2x07 Callum says "I think I'm getting close! There's so much swirling in my head but I need a way to bring it all together" and that is just me constantly as a theorist whenever new tdp info drops tbh :sob:

please give me your theories
rubs my hands so.
my big crack theory right now is the idea that something Else happened during the timeskip re: rayla and aaravos. rayla felt soooo off to me during the entire season and while the cynic in me wants to shit on tdps writing the theorist in me wants to come up with Reasons for why she felt so off and this is my favorite one: she's a sleeper agent unknown to even herself.
batshit, right? hear me out.
rayla doesn't talk about her time scouting, except to say that she failed and found nothing. rayla has a pet that has a connection to the Star Arcanum, which we know is the rarest of them all and yet she just... found her? rayla breaks into the palace via the mirror in the high mage's chambers instead of callum's room, and stella makes herself known via stealing the key for literally no apparent reason. rayla spends the rest of the season seemingly unaffected by the timeskip, trying to get callum's attention, and just generally acting... so very out of character. it could be that she's used as a plot device for callum's arc (something I'm painfully familiar with, sideeying amphibia) but i do have a theory and this theory is: rayla Did find claudia and the aaravos worm, but not only does she not remember it, she's actively being used to spy on the main cast, with stella placed conveniently in her path as a way to hold and maintain the spell.
I think it'd be fun. it'd explain why rayla didn't find anything in the two years despite her being an expert hunter and tracker. it'd explain why she tries so hard to pretend nothing's happened if to her, it doesn't feel like it's been two years cause her memories were altered. it'd explain why she went to the mirrors location first - to check on it, for aaravos's sake - and why she's so subdued throughout the season. she is still rayla, but she's a rayla under the influence of an aaravos spell, taken advantage by an aaravos that remembers very well how his first chance at freedom was thwarted by her when she tackled viren off that cliff (and successfully killed him, unlike his taunt of her suggests).
is it too crazy? am I reading too much into things? perhaps. but a sleeper agent rayla regaining callum's trust only to be turned against him with the spell would just be so interesting and frankly a missed opportunity if they go the boring route and say rayla's just fine and not talking out of like, repression or whatever. i rest my case.

Kokichi only gained Gonta's trust just to use him.
Even the Ultimate Kokichi Stan/theorist, oumakokichi on Tumblr, said that Gonta and Ouma's relationship is inherently abusive. WHEN THE ULTIMATE KOKICHI STAN/ANALYST SAYS THAT, AT LEAST TRY TO PAY ATTENTION.
"Gonta is someone who trusts others implicitly, always tries to see the best in people, and is kind, gentle, and compassionate. Throughout earlier chapters, but especially in Chapter 4, Ouma comes down hard on him, insults him, and tells him to "stop moping" or "focusing on what he can't do" and while these things are likely the same kind of act that he put on in order to force Himiko to confront the promise she made to Tenko, it still doesn't change the fact that he says pretty awful things to Gonta in order to achieve these results."
"To try and ship Gonta and Ouma in a romantic fashion or anything similar is just...really not good. Gonta doesn't deserve to be put in any kind of shipping dynamic where he's going to be seen as anything less than equal, and there's really no way to deny that Ouma doesn't see him as an equal, but as a piece to be moved on a gameboard. This is something really important to be remembered with most ships, in my opinion, but with this one in particular I'll just say that it does really make me uncomfortable that people would want to make this kind of treatment into something "cutesy" or "shippy" when it's really not supposed to be, and not portrayed as such by the game." (Lunarin64art: "This sign can't stop me because I can't read".)
"An undeniable part of why he relies on Gonta probably comes down to the fact that yes, he does see him as one of the more easily manipulated members of the group. As one of the only characters whose reaction is to trust even Ouma implicitly, rather than to assume that he's lying, Gonta and his sweet, trusting disposition mean that whenever Ouma does have a plan that needs being done, he always has a pretty accessible, physically strong member of the group to rely on. This is pretty evident with the fact that he knew Gonta looked large and intimidating enough to round up all the members of the group into the entomology lab while Ouma himself was off trying to collect evidence."
In any good Virtual Simulation AU everyone is alive and well except Kokichi, because Miu, Maki or (the best option) Gonta put him off life support before he could wake and that fucker died as he deserved. Everyone was happy he died and absolutely no one mourned him.
You REALLY thought Kokichi would ACTUALLY INFORM Gonta about the Bugvac? When Kokichi NEEDED to keep Gonta's self-esteem as low as possible so that he would be easier to manipulate. Of course he wouldn't show Gonta anything that could make him believe in himself. What a stupid pile of filth you are.
"He never treats Gonta the way he did on chp4 on any other part of the game."
Okay, how about Kokichi telling Gonta that if he keeps being so gullible it would get him killed while PLANNING to get him killed since Day 1, being a shit to Gonta in their pre-Free Time Events in Chapter 2, manipulating Gonta into kidnapping everyone by telling him that his classmates hate bugs (Which was a part of Kokichi's plan to get rid of Ryoma and Kirumi by letting Kirumi kill Ryoma, so Kokichi basically made Gonta indirectly cause two people's deaths)? Kokichi telling Gonta "nothing good ever happens when you try to help" in Chapter 3? Kokichi constantly calling Gonta an idiot?
" I also find it strange how there are still people who actually think that Ouma didn't care about Gonta. That was legitimately one of his most obvious lies in the entire game. His end talk with Kaito wouldn't make any sense otherwise, nor his interactions with Gonta on TDP and DRS."
His interactions with Gonta in TDP and DRS don't show that he cares for him in the slightest. Aside from Ouma's graduation event, where he slightly regrets abusing Gonta for three years, there's literally no indication that he, in any way, cares about Gonta. Where's it? When he tells Gonta that he's going to kill someone by playing volleyball (TDP)? When he banters with Junko while Gonta just stands here as a prop - he only came to see Junko, who is his bestie, not to protect Gonta from her or stuff, Gonta was never the main objective here (TDP). Two neutral interactions with Gonta where he just farts around without doing or saying anything that would imply he gives a shit about Gonta? (Summer Camp) And two more interactions with Gonta that feature Gonta mostly serving as a mediator between him and the other characters without Ouma ever once doing anything in return for Gonta? (Summer Camp) His every single interaction with Gonta is abusive. Gonta cares about Kokichi and tries to put actual effort into their "friendship". Kokichi just uses him for his own benefit and doesn't give Gonta anything in return.
ok. and? I'm not replying to your other 6 anons. you're putting way too much energy into nothing. it's almost like Danganronpa isn't canon IN canon. and anything can happen. idc what a Kokichi expert says. just because one person puts on a big boy hat and does amazing work to analyze the character doesn't mean I need to care. like they are right. I've never said it wasn't abusive. i like that blog and they are right on many accounts but im allowed to have my own perspective on the characters and plot. people are allowed to do that. but you, the anon, the one using another person's words to justify, clearly have no nuanced takes and a deep-seeded hate for kokichi. if you think JUNKO has any emotions that Kokichi somehow lacks and that he DESERVES DEATH then anything else you said is null to me. maybe you should listen to the kokichi stan about why they stan them. because you're clearly just using another's words to fuel your hate. danganronpa isn't real. irl or in canon. none of it matters. let people ship what they want.

(re: send me a character) bernard dowd and/or the lil tdp dude i keep seeing everywhere since the sdcc panel LMAO (i think his name is callum??? pls forgive if im wrong /o\)
Hi! Because I love these two so much. I'mma do both!
Bernard Dowd
Favorite thing about them:
He's a superhero Conspiracy theorist and that is insane to me! Like, that is such a good idea for a character and should be used to its full potential.
Least favorite thing about them:
Surface-level, he is the embodiment of white bread, especially with his current characterization
Favorite line:
Oooo, this one's a no-brainer:
"It's perfect and I love it, flaws and all. It was definitely worth the wait." -- "Special Delivery" by Travis Moore, DC Pride 2022
(Like he's talking about the cake, but also he's not talking about the cake-)
brOTP:
Darla/Laura for the obvious besties in high school
Steph for besties that bully Tim (affectionately)
OTP:
Gee I don't know... TIMBER OF COURSE
(Although I do ship timberkon and konnard on the side 😏)
nOTP:
Darla/Bernard: I really think their strongest dynamic is their friendship.
Random headcanon:
He's friends with Jay Nakamura online. They met through a government conspiracy forum.
Unpopular opinion:
I'm not sure if this is unpopular or not but I think his characterization is weakest when he's written by Fitzmartin??? Sorry??? (I honestly think Travis Moore is his best writer yet)
Song I associate with them:
Yasutaka Nakata - Crazy Crazy (feat. Charli XCX and Kyary Pamyu Pamyu)
Favorite picture of them:
Tumblr media
It's just so tender. He's so in love 🥺...
Callum
Favorite thing about them:
He's the biggest fucking dork and I love it.
Least favorite thing about them:
Don't really have anything for this one
Favorite line:
"You're smart, and fast, and beautiful. Rayla, you're the most amazing person I've ever met." -- 3x4 "The Midnight Desert"
He's such a romantic that he doesn't even know he's in love with her yet-
brOTP:
Callum and Ezran! I love their dynamic as brothers
Callum and Soren as frenemies to big brother figure that affectionately bullies the younger one
OTP:
RAYLLUM! RAYLLUM! RAYLLUM! (Rayla and Callum)
nOTP:
Claudia and Callum (but I'm fine with it as a crush)
Random headcanon:
When he gets really into something he gets into it. Like nose in a spell book and forgets to eat or sleep until someone makes him.
Unpopular opinion:
I don't think him learning every Arcanum will make the show too similar to ATLA.
Song I associate with them:
Simple Plan - I'm Just a Kid
(probably too on the nose but it's the first thing I thought of ahshsj-)
Favorite picture of them:
Tumblr media
He is a serious artist 😤
<Send me a character and I'll list some things about them!>

what are your thoughts on the idea that harrow blames viren for sarai's death and why he is hesitant on virens creative solutions to quote "Not only did Sarai object to it pointing out how nothing had shortcuts, but she also lost her life during the mission because of it. After something as traumatic as losing his wife due to them using dark magic, of course Harrow is going to disapprove of Viren using it for more "creative solutions"."
Man, you really like the hard questions. That’s not a complaint, those are the most fun ones to answer! Sorry for taking a while to do so. 😅
I mean no disrespect to the person from whom the quote was taken; but, technically, dark magic didn’t kill Sarai. Yes the mission was supposed to be a way to gain materials for a dark magic spell, and Sarai did die on the mission, but dark magic was not what caused that. This is not an, “X=Y & Y=Z, therefore X=Z,” problem. This is an, “Event X caused Event Y which led to Event Z,” problem; a domino effect. If Event y -the mission- never happened, that is to say if Harrow rejected Viren’s proposal, Sarai would not have died (event Z). Unlike equality, which remains a reality even if the y factor is unknown (like how “red panda” = “lesser panda” = “red cat-bear”; you don’t necessarily need to know what “lesser panda” means to know the other names refer to the same critter), events don’t solely rely on the results of a single previous event; they are influenced by multiple ones of various “sizes,” individual decisions of the persons involved being the smallest of them. If Sarai hadn’t decided to join the mission to the border, then she wouldn’t have perished; if they had left earlier, then Thunder wouldn’t have caught them; if Viren hadn’t suggested using magic, then they wouldn’t have had to go to the border; if Harrow hadn’t agreed to aid Duren, then they wouldn’t have needed to use dark magic at all! Do you see what I mean? Sarai’s death was the result of multiple choices, made by multiple people, in multiple circumstances, all of which could be blamed for the incident. With that many variables, it’s impossible to say that event X directly caused event Z, because event Z could only occur, as we know it, if event Y’s subliminal influences allowed it to -in domino terms- “fall” that way.
Harrow would have recognized his own part in the death of his wife and probably blamed himself, not dark magic. Dark magic, to Harrow, is a tool. It is not inherently “good” or “evil” but is incredibly useful in a wide variety of situations and, while requiring some sacrifice, usually comes with a big pay off. Which is why he’s been cautious but still willing to utilize it for the last ten years. Judging when the outcome of an action is worth the potential harm and required sacrifice is the type of difficult decision that faces a leader. Every. Single. Day. Choosing to use dark magic is no different to him than having to choose whether or not to share the kingdom’s supplies with the citizens of Duren, at the risk of causing his own subjects to also suffer. If Harrow hated dark magic (like king Uther from BBC’s, “Merlin”), Viren wouldn’t currently be in such a high position of power and certainly wouldn’t have his own lair of -partial- solitude, they also wouldn’t have used dark magic to slay Thunder.
I, personally, believe that the reason Harrow was so against using dark magic to save his own life is because it doesn’t benefit anyone else other than himself. He can’t morally justify the sacrifice for the outcome....and, in a way, I don’t think Harrow would even want that outcome. From what we’re shown, Harrow seems to favor choices that will preserve or improve his relationship with others. If he was only concerned with the safety of Katolis, then he would have denied the Queens’ request for aid. They wouldn’t have held it against him. He was, after all, only recently crowned king and would likely be afraid of such a risk. But he accepted. A choice which earned the respect and goodwill of the queens and their subjects. That, to him, was worth the shared suffering of the people and the eventual decision to use dark magic to save everyone; a utilitarianistic approach. Trading places with one of his guards, or Viren, would mean taking that person away from their friends and families, probably causing them to loath the king....and they’d have every right to. Imagine how difficult it would be to see the face of a loved one, and know it’s not them; knowing that someone else is living within that meat suit you knew so well....no one deserves that pain. Besides, what would his sons think? It’s not like he could hide the fact he’s in a completely different body! No. Harrow would rather die as a “good man” than stoop so low. Leaving his children might be hard, but they won’t be alone, and -most importantly- they won’t hate him.
Do I think Harrow blames Viren for Sarai’s death? Not outright, no. As a monarch, diplomacy, even in the most trying of times, must be maintained. Especially with one’s own court. Even if Harrow does resent his old friend, he couldn’t afford to act on those emotions. Repressing, denying, and taking the blame on himself is far less damaging in the long run (Utilitarianism at it’s finest). However, in those moments before Viren body swapped him and pip his demise, he finally allowed himself to be angry with the sorcerer. Harrow allowed himself to let go of his duty as a king, his diplomatic attitude, decorum, all of it, and brought that self righteous subordinate to his knees. Of course, we have an inkling of how that came back to bite him in the ass.
I hope this is a satisfactory answer, this was a fun topic to explore! If y’all have anymore questions, theories, or critiques you’d like to share, feel free to send an ask or comment.
Thank y’all for reading!

disclaimer: this isn’t a theory just a cool thought
Im need to stop posting so much before i make a complete fool out of myself, but basically, a thought process by me: Rayla, Callum, and Ezran have only known each other for like 2 weeks, which objectively is Not A Long Time. But!!! They are on a Risky Adventure, and stuff like that causes adrenaline rushes like all the damn time. I was reading in a book a while back that people that go through high intensity fight or flight situations together, end up getting really close really fast because of their shared experiences, and said experiences can be catalysts for longer friendships and relationships in general. So that’s just my two cents ig

Ask game: 📌
📌  how did you find your hyperfixation?
Welp.
I originally joined Tumblr so I could have a place to theorize about Infinity War and Endgame, in the year before Endgame came out, because the nerd page I was an admin for on FB didn’t really support endless theory posts and they also had a month-long spoiler ban and my brain was itching to guess what came next. By January 2019, I was also taking a well-earned break after grinding out my last novel for way too long because I was burning out and didn’t realize it.
In February, some of my mutuals started reblogging Aaravos fanart. I was like, who’s this fab character? So I poked around and found that he was from the second season of a Netflix cartoon called The Dragon Prince, and I thought, heck, I haven’t watched a cartoon show since LoK ended, so let’s check this out.
Listen, I fell so hard into this show that I literally did not want to go see Endgame. Loki who? Noooo, I have Runaan now: another glowery blue-eyed stabby dual-wielding 6′ 2.5″ British-voiced blue-linemarked-skin-having horn-wearing multilayered-clothing bling-wearing character to spend all my time thinking about now. They’re totally not the same!
Anyway, I found my tribe with the fandom theorists and I’ve been very happy here ever since. Thinking about TDP has gotten me through a long string of tough times. No matter what happens in the future, I will always have the past two years of deeply enjoying this show!

not to get all conspiracy theorist... but I feel like the renewal of tdp for its full 7 season run might have something to do with ATLA being out on Netflix this year in the US (I’m in the uk and it was added last year, too)... like maybe they were testing the waters in terms of the potential ratings (and not just internet fandom/perceived popularity) of an ATLA-like show or will use their data on watching habits to advertise specifically to ATLA watchers??? idk I need sleep lol
Gotta admit I don't think ATLA's return has anything to do wirh TDP, since it seems more likely it is bc they will be adapting ATLA into live action soon. Plus, it's only in the US, and if they wanted statistics they would probably release it worldwide and see how and where it flies. But now that you mention it, I do wonder if they will give TDP more promo, since getting approved for 7 whole seasons is p metal

Y'all we were blessed this season for the dragon prince
We got:
1. So much character development from every single character in 9 episodes.
2. How the episodes dealt with death. I could relate to that SO much. I've been in Callum and Ezrans shoes before and the fact that they dealt with this topic can help people who have gone through that.
3. Callums identity arc was 100 percent gold. Sarai telling him to breath had my heart. And Harrow telling Callum to not follow history and write his own destiny is such a good lesson that applies in real life.
4. Sarai is everything! She knew not to trust dark magic or sacrificing magical entities as a short cut to fix problems. It's sad harrow lost her and I bet that's how when he started doubting viren.
Viren is the frickin reason my queen died. I hate him even more now.
5. The brother/sister relationships. You can truly feel the love that callum/ezran and Claudia/soren have for each other. It reminds me of what sokka and katara had. Claudia using the dark magic to get soren unparalyzed was such a selfless thing. I just wish she would quit dark magic but I think it will take longer for her to see the bad in it.
Also soren is a gem. He was paralyzed but accepted it and even felt free because he wouldn't disappoint his dad.
Honestly viren can kick rocks. He didn't even check on his kids or think about how they were doing.
6. Aavaoras (I dont know how to spell his name) was so creepy but thrilling in a nice way. It felt like he tricked viren into getting caught but at the end he says he will help him?
I wonder why he's on virens side? Whats his deal? Also he can control all primal sources as a master.
7. Callum unlocked sky primal powers. There was a moment when he was on top of the windmill and he was having a zuko moment for the lighting to strike. He must be half elf from his dad that's why he could feel a connection to the sky primal source.
Using dark magic actually helped Callum unlock his sky primal powers.
It's nice to know the theories were confirmed as canon. Kudos to the original theorist @justthatobsession who called that out.
8. Prince ezran is everything!
I'm so proud that we went back to claim his throne. He went through a lot of growth too. And him and zym were adorable together. I want to know how he can speak to animals. Does ezran have a primal power too or is it something else?
9. Anaya dragged Viren for filth and I loved every second of it.
10. The representation was there for all areas
11. RAYLUM!
I SCREAMED when Rayla almost confest her love for Callum. It's canon that she likes him. And Callum was DRAWING her like wth. They had so many moments to growth together too in terms of trust.
Rayla was a delight as well always cheering Callum up when he was sad. And she took everyone feelings into consideration plenty of times.
I'm sad it's just Callum and Rayla now on the journey I will miss ezran and bait. I hope ezran is ok.
Also pip flew out the window just as ezran decides to return. It's like they don't want ezran to know harrow is alive in pip.
S2 of TDP was 10 out of 10!
