Unironically think that each of the bros (+April) don’t actually get how impressive their feats really are so they just do what they do and on the off chance someone comments on those feats they all react like:
Tumblr media
#rottmnt#tmnt#rise of the teenage mutant ninja turtles#no but really#I love thinking that they’re actually way more prideful about the stuff that does not even hold a candle to their other feats#like yeah Mikey can open a hole in the space time continuum but that’s nothing have you TRIED his manicotti??#yeah Leo has outsmarted multiple incredibly intelligent and capable people AND knows how to rewire AI but eh did you hear his one liners?#donnie accidentally made regular animatronics sentient but that was an oopsie check out his super cool hammer instead#raph was able to fake his own death to save the entirety of New York and then be the one to bring about his brothers’ inner powers-#but forget about that did you know he can punch like a BOSS?#and April can survive and THRIVE against a demonic suit of armor alongside literal weapons of destruction as a regular human-#but her crane license is where it’s really at#(not to mention all the other secondary talents and skills these kids all just sorta have like - they are VERY CAPABLE)#honorable mentions in this regard go moments like#donnie ordering around an entire legion of woodland critters to create a woodsy tech paradise#or Leo being able to avoid an entire crowd’s blind spots in plain sight#and also being able to hold a pose without moving a millimeter while covered in paint and being transported no I’m NOT OVER THAT#Mikey casually being ridiculously strong and also knowledgeable enough about building to help Donnie make the puppy paradise for Todd#Raph literally led an entire group of hardened criminals like that entire episode was just#basically they’re all so capable????#and at the same time prone to wiping out at the most inopportune of moments#love them sm

When did we make Zane a tech guy. Seriously. When did we decide Zane in particular would be good at tech. That's so stupid. We've got too many goddamn tech people in this show. Obviously everyone on the team has some degree of tech knowledge considering how often they might have to repair something in their line of work, but labeling Zane as one of "the tech guys" has never sat right with me. Let Jay, Nya and Pixal do their thing. And Sora.

do you think there is any elitism regarding tattoo application in cyberpunk? cause we see v's tattoo being applied automatically by a ripperdoc but i have to assume that tattoo artist is still a job, if even a dying one that's slowly being replaced by machines. like even today we see artists fighting for their work and the integrity of art in general versus ai, and i know in the tattoo community there have been similar things happening re: robotics/automated application within the last few years (look up BlackDot tattoo) and i just want to know what that community is like in 2077. there must still be old school corner tattoo shops right??

I feel like each member of the Bad Batch is a good dancer but in different ways. Allow me to elaborate:
To start off, I headcanon Tech as the absolute best dancer, like he knows how to dance EVERYTHING. This is because he reminds me of my grandfather, and my grandfather is that way; if there’s a dance, my grandfather knows how to do it. He and Phee are the last people on the dance floor at every event. If you’re having a party where there’s dancing, you want Tech to be there.
I don’t know why, but I can picture Hunter being good at salsa dancing and merengue. Maybe it’s the slutty waist or the dad vibes, but I can see him being the guy that all of your tias and your abuelita are telling you to marry because he’s a good dancer even though he isn’t Latino.
Wrecker was a bit of a hard one, but after some thought and looking through videos, I can see him dancing samba and absolutely KILLING it. I can see him dancing salsa and bachata as well. He also slays at musical theatre dancing. I see him going CRAZY when dancing to reggaeton music; the second he hears Daddy Yankee, that’s it give him some room. Also I KNOW he goes crazy when Bad Bunny comes on.
For some reason Echo is giving me club dancing vibes but also line dancing. Like he’s going CRAZY when the Cupid Shuffle or the Cha Cha Slide come on at the function. Also knows how to pole dance and break dance for some reason. The only member of the squad who can successfully twerk. He’s also killing it when it comes to dancing to reggaeton.
Crosshair’s dance is the tango. Nothing will change my mind. The dance just SCREAMS him with the movements. I can see Crosshair doing ballet. I can also see him shaking his nonexistent ass on an elevated surface to club songs while drunk.
Omega knows a little bit of everything, since Tech loves to teach her, but I feel like she’d DEMOLISH in tap dancing. I also feel like she’d be good at salsa as well.

I'm not going to comment on the work ethic bit because there is some pretty obvious bias from resumebuilder however the technology issue is absolutely real.
Folks unfairly assume Gen Z are going to be technologically apt because they "grew up with tech" like Millennials before them, Millennials who *are* typically more tech savvy.
It comes down to *what* tech they grew up with. Gen Z was born into a world of streamlined, easy to use tech. Smartphones are designed to be simple and straightforward. Most apps are download and go, *maybe* download, open an account/log in and then go. Downloading apps is one of two button presses and they're basically guaranteed to work. There is nothing meaningful to be learned from this. Add in the fact that tech literacy courses seem to have been cut or made optional in most schools (schools in my area cut them entirely shortly after 2008) means Gen Z never really had a reason to learn "legacy" tech beyond basics such as opening a web browser.
Compare that with Millennials. Computers were only just entering the main stream and smart phones were a distant dream. We grew up with floppy disks and zip drives and CD-ROMs and dial up and an internet *extremely* different from how it is today. Something like installing a new program was never guaranteed to go smoothly and solving everyday problems required a functional knowledge of your operating system basics and to some extent, hardware. Your new speakers aren't working? Did you plug them into the headphone jack or the speaker jack? Your keyboard isn't working? Did you plug it into the wrong PS/2 port where the mouse is supposed to go? You want to print something? I hope your printer is connected right. What the fuck is "Windows Printer Spool Error"??? This isn't touching on the skillsets picked up by learning your way around early internet programs like chat clients or video calling software. It feels like 10-12 years ago it was assumed most people using software like Skype or Teamspeak could troubleshoot their own webcam/audio issues with little to no help.
Obviously this wasn't a universal experience, but the technology Millennials grew up with was significantly less refined and wasn't geared towards an easy used experience. This meant we had to learn more just to get basic use out of it.
While I do feel basic technical knowledge is something everyone should have, Gen Z can be forgiven for not just having the technical skillsets an office environment would require.

tech gauntlets and memory wipes
@varianlikescheese making a new post because the other one was starting to give off color of the sky but here’s what I know of how memory works irl from my cognitive psychology classes:
So there are different kinds of memory, you have episodic memory (for example: that one time you went to a museum), semantic memory (the location of that museum) and procedural memory (how to ride a bike). Then there’s autobiographic memory which mixes episodic and semantic memory and is centered around memories about yourself.
And fun fact! You can never forget anything, it’s all stored in your brain forever and it’s actually the recall of that memory that makes it hard to remember some stuff. Basically every memory has a hint that will get you to recall it but sometimes that hint is so precise that it’s realistically impossible to recall the memory (but it’s technically possible).
Memory also works in links, the more you elaborate information and link it up to other concepts in your mind, the easier it is to recall because you multiply the possible hints to recall it. (Also information about the self is recalled faster because you establish more links (and stronger ones too) when it’s centered around yourself)
SO! How do the tech gauntlets do what they do to people’s memories?
They could either:
Erase the memory itself, which would lead to your thoughts having links between concepts that lead to nowhere (for memories that are pretty elaborate).
Or, erase the hint(s) that help recall the memory. For things that just happened, that someone didn’t have time to think about and link up to other lived experiences, that would make the memory inaccessible. For events that happened a while ago or concepts that someone has thought about in depth and made connections with (especially things that relate to them personally), that would lose efficiency really quickly.
I think the gauntlets work that second way, because of what we’ve seen happen to Five: his memory was still there, he just couldn’t access it until he found his bracelet, which worked as a hint to recall Hinobi Smash.
And so the stronger the memory wipe, the more hints/links around the memory you want gone are erased, which could potentially lead to the collapse of some of the brain’s most important information in a way (if you ever link your experiences as a glitch tech with how to walk, and those links between concepts are destroyed, you potentially won’t be able to recall walking as well as being a tech).
If a reset at max strength means deleting every link to a memory you want gone, then it doesn’t stop after a few connections and there is a very real possibility it destroys links between essential concepts like ‘2+2=4’, ‘how to hold a pen’, ‘what my name is’ or even completely wipes out someone’s mind.
Which is why I don’t think the tech’s strongest memory wipes are the actual strongest wipes out there, because they don’t walk around essentially leaving empty husks of people behind every glitch encounter. Hinobi corporate though…
