something something necromancer Marinette AU where Adrien keeps throwing himself into danger to protect her because “she’ll just bring him back” but she never thought she’d fall so hard for the guy she met by accidentally reanimating his corpse
and can she marry someone who’s legally dead anyways?
like. for tax reasons
#miraculous ladybug#marinette dupain cheng#adrien agreste#I know this is like. canon but. imagine that the stakes are higher and marinette doesn’t fully understand her powers and—#maybe it’s not technically necromancy because I feel like usually that doesn’t make the person properly alive HAHAHA but shhhh#one day she almost can’t bring him back…#and he wakes up to her freaking out#and once she hugs the living daylights out of him she refuses to talk to him all night#AND THEY WERE ROOMMATES#since you know he’s not legally alive he needs someplace to crash#and also it’s Adrien so he’s just. not used to people caring about him#which is why he doesn’t understand at first that his recklessness is making her so upset#but also. if it’s him or her… well#posts that should have stayed in the drafts HAHAHA

What are ur ocs fav kinks????
this took me awhile to think of >< these aren't really technical terms since I don't know too many names of kinks TT
Adrien's top kinks is probably overstimulation and recording or taking photos. He just can't stop himself from touching you and he has a sick admiration of the way your face contorts in pleasure when he does so. He thinks your little whimpers and whines when you blabble that it's too much makes his heart thump a bit heavier. And he definitely loves taking photos of you splayed out on his bed , riding him , giving him a blow job , anything remotely lewd he keeps a print out of it in his special drawer . . .
Vallen is the opposite , he loves orgasm denial and probably has a hidden kink on BDSM . . . Vallen is a cruel man , he'll bring you so close to the edge just to pull out and pin your body down so you physically can't get any pleasure . Such a sick man ! He finds it so cute when your face washes over with confusion before it turns into complaints and pouting — only after some puppy-eye begging, he'll give it to you. Although Vallen does do vanilla alot with you , the rare occasions where he does dabble in bdsm , it gets him off real well . . . but he knows that its a bit intimidating and he's too unbothered to set everything up.
Cole doesn't even know what his favorite is , everything you like , he likes. But he does like praise alot and he's too shy to admit it but feminisation(?) as well. Cole feels all giddy inside when you say he's doing so well and that he's making you feel good , and he loves giving it too ! He loves praising you on how well you're taking him and how nice you are to put up with him — he's a bit insecure so your praise gets his heart pumping. One time you had to wear a skirt for a show and he's never felt more dazed , feeling the hem of your skirt on his happy trail as you ride him slowly , he felt so perverted but he couldn't deny you looked good in it , and the make-up making you look all doll like was enough for him to beg you to wipe it off before he couldn't control himself anymore !
Callahan . . . he most definitely loves bondage , choking , hair pulling , and impact play. His bandage kink is derived from seeing you cuffed so many times , he doesn't know why but seeing such a cocky brat like you all defenceless and restrained gets him off like crazy. He thrives off knowing that you want to hold on to something , him , or a pillow or anything , but your hands are neatly cuffed behind your back and you can't do a thing. Callahan hates you , whether it's genuine or not , he won't be afraid to wrap his hands around your neck , watching your eyes roll back and the cuffs jingle from your instinct to pull them away. He's a real freak. He loves spanking you too , at any chance he'll deliver a blow on your untouched cheek, seeing the red pool on your skin does something to him. He's got to get his love-hate for you sort out !

Hey! I’m the anon that had issues with the amok scene in werepapas that jumped the queue (thanks for that). I just wanted to clear up that I didn’t think Ladybug’s lack of reaction made her look bad. The point wasn’t to attack Marinette but more to attack whatever twist the crew are setting up as already failed.
I’m expecting a twist like “Lila stole the rings” or “Felix gave out copies” or “Adrien isn’t actually a sentimonster” and I am expecting the crew to pat themselves on the back for fooling the audience for 2+ seasons and point to scenes like this one to say “see it was all there if you paid attention”. But if that’s the case then attention should have been called to the lack of a feather. Without it, the audience can’t tell if they are doing yet another retcon on how amoks work or leaving breadcrumbs for a larger story.
(Ask in Question)
Got it and I agree completely. Every time a plot point like this comes up I like to point out that the show is aimed at ages 5 to 12. It's not supposed to be confusing and require careful study. Everything should be ridiculously obvious to even the most casual adult viewer because five-year-olds don't have anything like media literacy. The shows they watch are supposed to teach them how stories work at a basic level. Instead of doing that, Miraculous gives them utterly baffling things that grown adults have to rely on the word of god to understand and that's assuming that the word of god doesn't change because it's not technically canon. (And that's not even getting into this show's love of retconing canon.)
In this case, the word of god on the website formerly known as Twitter implies that those were indeed Adrien's rings, but the feather didn't come out because Marinette didn't want it to.

[Image description: a tweet from the head writer reading "Like for many matters in Miraculous' magic rules, intention does play a part, otherwise Gabriel would have been very foolish to akumatize Kagami via her ring the 1st time. But there's also another point.]
I don't like this concept, but it's not terrible in theory. It is terrible in the context of canon, though. We are in season six and this has literally never been established in a clear way. The evidence the given for this season six lore is a season two episode (Riposte) where Marinette didn't know that the akumatized person was a sentimonster so she wouldn't have had a reason to care about the feather one way or the other. Even worse, this episode is arguably contradicted in season five, the season most people are likely to think about when trying to figure out how the heck amoks work. (Also worth noting that five-year-olds and most other viewers don't have access to what was said on Twitter so they will just be left to guess at what happened here.)
In Riposte, Kagami is akumatized via her ring. When that ring is broken, she is fine. No feather is released. In the season five episode Perfection, she is once again akumatized via her ring, but this time it isn't broken. Instead, she frees herself. In spite of this, the episode takes the time to have her mother freak out about the akumatization as if the use of the ring was a big deal:
Tomoe: (slams her bokken right on Gabriel's hand on the monitor) You sent a megakuma into my daughter's ring!! (presses her bokken on Gabriel's cataclysmed hand) You endangered her!! Gabriel: Tsurugi-san... calm down. Tomoe: If you don't honor your contract, Gabriel, I will make your dream disappear, just like you tried to do with mine! Don't ever forget again... that you owe me everything!
Hey, writers, this was where you were supposed to establish how amoks work when they're used as akumas. Have Gabriel say that Kagami was perfectly safe because Ladybug didn't want to release the amok! Because you didn't have him say that, the audience is going to infer that Kagami was in real danger here because that is what this scene very clearly implies. I know having him say that means actually confirming Kagami's status and you're allergic to that, but I don't care! Shit or get off the pot!
Because Perfection comes after Riposte, any sane viewer will think that Riposte has been retconned or that the ring in Riposte wasn't her amok if they even remember that Riposte used her ring as her akuma which is a big if! I'll openly admit I didn't remember that until the Werepapas stuff happened and people started freaking out. I don't remember every akuma's civilian item! I doubt that most people do. If you'd asked me, I would have guessed that that Kagami's akuma was her fencing saber because I remembered that Riposte's sword breaking frees the akuma and the episode was all about fencing so the saber just makes sense.
There's also the issue of Representation which gave us this:
Félix: ...an order from his father was enough to trouble his feelings. Kagami: (as Colt, slamming her hand on a table...) Monster. Monster! MONSTER! (...and damaging the ring in the process, and Félix collapses on the floor) Félix: The child realized that his life was linked to that ring.
We learn that Félix's ring was superficially damaged and that the damage made him collapse into a lifeless doll, letting him realize that he was a sentimonster. We're going to ignore the fact that Adrien should have been granted a similar revelation in Werepapas and focus on the lore elements implied by Félix's story.
[Image description: Fèlix's ring with a crack on its surface. The crack is clearly shown to not go the entire way through the ring. The ring is intact and functional.]
Because the standard for the show is breaking akumas and amoks, the fact that Félix's ring wasn't broken feels important to the viewer. It is perfectly logical to see this and assume that Fèlix only survived because the damage was minor.
In fact, I'd argue that the most logic read of this scene is that breaking an amok releases the feather while merely damaging it just turns off the sentimonster. The implication is not that you can do the sort of thing that would release an amok without actually releasing an amok because akumas and amoks are usually (always?) released via breaking or destroying an object, not just mildly damaging it. The idea that mild damage is enough for a release has not been well established. I feel like it has to have happened before, but I can't think of an example and that's the issue. You need to clearly establish this stuff if you want your show to be comprehensible!
If the lesson of Félix's memory is supposed to be that you can break/damage an amok without releasing the feather, then Félix's memory should have shown the ring being truly broken without him melting away since canon usually breaks stuff. Or, at the very least, we could have had this episode's akuma defeated via superficial damage to contrast Félix's memory and subtly imply that superficial damage can have different consequences. That's not what we get, though. Nightormentor is defeated via a Cataclysm:
(Just as about Nightormentor was about to blow another pack of pink dust at the Resistance, Cat Noir jumps in and disintegrates Nightormentor's blow gun with his Cataclysm, bringing out the Megakuma and de-transforming the villain back to Gabriel. The Resistance cheer on their victory)
This is why the word of god explanation is so horrifically bad even though the concept could work in a show like Miraculous where the magic system has always included an element of intent. They had multiple chances to make the lore clear and they didn't take any of them so it doesn't matter if this was always the rule. There's simply no way for anyone to know this rule based on the actual text as shown by the fact that no one could figure this rule out until the writers told them even though there were hundreds of fans trying to understand this scene. That is embarrassingly bad writing and a massive disservice to the show's target audience who literally cannot have Twitter accounts because you need to be at least thirteen to make one and the official target age range for the show is 5 to 12!!!
Please note that while I said this lore could work, I still think it's dumb. Does this mean that you can completly destroy an amok and the sentimonster will still survive if you don't want the feather released? What if Ladybug isn't around to fix things? You can't even mercy kill the Senti since they're immune to cataclysms! Poor thing is just stuck there forever, a broken toy you can't fix much like the lore for this increasingly nonsense show. And while we're on the topic, how the hell was Fèlix's ring fixed after Colt damaged it? Ladybug wasn't around to do that. Do amoks self heal over time? Someone, please, make it make sense!

Definitely liking the direction you are taking with the CSC Reboot!
I think a Chloe who's only a couple of years out of canon, only recently taken away from Audrey and in therapy works more neatly for the low self esteem, everyone hates me, I am doomed mentality CSC Chloe sometimes had. Hell she probably feels even more like a universal chew toy because of all this.
I had a thought, if Chloe still only basically got those future memories downloaded like a book into her brain and didn't strictly 'live' them. I think she'd be bracing against them a little, or more struggling to do a total 180 in terms of her everyday behavior, feelings and beliefs. & that is before one factors in her general emotional state from all the loss of things she never technically had but longs for.
In these regards she'd also not have repaired her relationship with Adrien, or otherwise resolve much of anything to do with her trauma in Paris. She was still un-packing it when the memories got sent back. Basically I think Chloe's gonna be in a deeply unpredictable emotional state pretty much perpetually and take a long time to stabilize.
I would also imagine Andre keeps Chloe from going to therapy if he finds out she's going or trying to go as it "Makes the family look bad" & "Besides its all nonsense anyway" and possibly trying to get the therapist banished cos he doesn't want anyone poking around in Chloe's head. She could still do secret online therapy.
Speaking of Andre, I imagine once it becomes clear he's lost control of Chloe and isn't getting it back he starts whining and simpering to Audrey extra hard and trying to find ways to trick/force her into coming back to Paris earlier, possibly leading to an early Zoe introduction if she brings her along for one reason or another.
Glad u like the new direction of csc au! And yes she definetely thinks she has some kind of curse or the universe is playing a twisted joke on her. Also great analysis there! Very interesting
And yes Chloe feeling like she could explode at any moment and freaking out 24/7 but for a person watching from the outside she seems indifferent and calm
I'm planning for Chloe to ask the butler for help to go to therapy without André finding out and yes! André is definitely still going to complain to Audrey which leads her to come back earlier (Although I don't know whether to have Zoe come with her now or later)

So, I had a discussion with generalluxun about Headshot AU and I have some revized thoughts as I think I may have given CHloe a bit too much sugar,
The start is the same as before, Chloe storms in with the press, Marinette casually launches the Yoyo at her head not really expecting it to land when it does, killing her gruesomely.
The press are freaking out, the public is horrified, Marinette is horrified, panicking & in disbelief, so it's up to Chat to drag her out of there. Marinette proceeds to have a breakdown as she tries to 'fix this' rambling & spilling way more details than she'd ever do letting Chat realize who she is even while turned around and trying not to freak out himself.
Chloe's body spasms back to life as the damage is forcibly repaired by a horde of magical ladybugs and she is quickly surrounded by the press.
The thing is, I feel that CHloe, when genuinely upset, tends to explode, then curl up after isolating herself, we see it with Adrien threatening their friendship, Heart Hunter, among others.
Thus she point blank freaks out.
Then bails, athleticism from years of ballet and more letting her outpace the journalists and anyone else who tries to stop her as she just runs mindlessly from one place to another until she finds an isolated place to curl up and meltdown in isolation.
As she is 'coping' several things happen.
Ladybug and Chat initially try to find her, but Marinette is crumbling and knowing she's alive is sufficient as Adrien feels their presence maaaay not be welcome. He follows her home, making sure she gets there before breaking off to try try and find CHloe while contacting Marinette as Adrien to try and indirectly comfort her.
Marinette is busy however as Alya is chasing down the truth, convinced this has to be an AKuma trick or the like at first but whens he does get to Marinette and gets the whole truth (Pushing hard for it in her own right) she accepts the reality. She isn't happy about it, but also regards it as a slip up born of stress and a blurring of her life as Ladybug and Marinette. Alya insists Marinette drop some of her burdens and takes up the rear rings again and barely stops Marinette from wiping her own memory out of guilt.
Andre tries to swoop in to play grieving and horrified father, but Audrey counter swoops with evidence he had divorced Chloe that day This is bolstered by the video Lila posted, but Andre tries to counterpoint that Audrey is neglectful and cruel & well... Imagine Public Divorce AU but it is condensed into a seven hour public argument being live-streamed.
Zoe tries to get either of them to think about their daughter but both are more interested in beating the other and so she gives up and goes to investigate herself. Running across Sabrina who is experiencing cataclysmic guilt because barely a day after she breaks off from Chloe, CHloe goe and gets murdered! She & Zoe have a bit of a tense interaction at first "She tried to be your sister!" but resolve it, "So she didn't always keep you in a closet?" - "No, that was a new thing!" & try to contact/find CHloe but cannot.
Othrs as discussed are disturbed, the class may largely hate Chloe but that was still a peer who died in a very gruesome way after kind of accurately pointing out something shonky the heroes did. Bustier is especially worried (& did get her job back but cos of Andre, technically, kinda, Olga just kind of hand-waves the fring) & also tries to contact Chloe who does briefly answer her phone but is kind of semi hysterical and not making much sense before hanging up.
Lila is as discussed in disguise to avoid a wrathful Ladybug, setting up a Go Fund me for Chloe (wink wink) and trying to find her new cash cow, while revelling in LB's reputation being ruined but also low key scared shitless that she could be killed too.
Gabriel is having a great time and while he'd have liked to try and win by just using his QUeen Mayor idea, he and Tomoe are hastening work on their perfect alliance plan, but it will still take some time, just less & turning people on LB & Chat Noir?
So much easier.
Meanwhile, for Chloe, who, if anyone, finds her could easily diverge things radically, as I imagine Chloe will be deeply troubled, traumatized and in a transitional state.
Buty keeping with what's been discussed, Chloe likely remains isolated as she tries to parce her memories and what it all means and doesn't like what she finds.
Her bond with Sabrina? Broken.
Her friendship with Adrien? Ruined.
Her hero & idol? Her killer and her rival.
Her family? (Look at the public TVs) Horrible.
She has done nothing but lose and existed in a perpetual state of decay and humiliation. Why was she running around in a superhero leotard and a tutu? the colors clashed atrociously!
She has nothing left, but worse still, for all that what happened with Marinette/Ladybug rattles her. Chloe's fight instinct means she gets angry about it. But what Hawk Moth did to her?
That haunts her.
Because who or what else could it have been but Hawk Moth? Hawk Moth who sent Akuma after her. Hawk Moth who forced her to serve as his Queen Chess Piece. Hawk Moth who has destroyed her mind.
This isn't just violence, or betrayal, or a wound, this was a violation.
Which does help crystalize... Not a plan, Chloe never graduated from schemes, and she's too fragile and scattered for even a scheme right now. But she has her focus back and she has intent, she has drive.
A drive to ensure something like that can never happen again, she has focussed more of her ire on the person she feels most violated her and is casting off all others and her intent is to find some means of protecting herself.
She could try stealing the Ladybug earrings, but no, she can't risk it.
But what else is there, she doesn't know who Chat Noir is and Hawk Moth has the other Miraculous... Save maybe the Peacock? Which could be Adrien, or Felix, one of whom is behind the best security known to Paris & the other is in London.
& she won't get a second chance at this.
With a shaky resolve and a realization she is fucking hungry and exhausted, Chloe pulls herself up from wherever she was hiding and scans her phone like the well worn habit it is, and stumbles on the GoFund me and can guess who thought of that.
It seems she'll be having dinner at Lila's.
hell yeah hell yeah hell yeah

Soooo- I am both in a "I kinda want to tap back into Miraculous Ladybug... maybe not really watch the show but draw and write silly AUs stuff because it's a thing I like to do"- but I am still kinda into Bakugan and I don't want to move away from it especially since I do want to eventually get to work on "Multiverse Special"...
And then my brain goes "Crossover AU??!?!?!!?"... and I kinda have- two so far. I'll talk about the first one since I kinda want to-
Funny enough when I first joined the Bakugan fandom I was in the Bakugan AUs tag an AU with the bakugan cast in the setting of Miraculous Ladybug... why not the opposite?
Enter "A New world" [or "Bakugan: Team Miraculous"]
The story: Shit happens, Ladybug's identity is compromised, Char is taken out of the picture by an akuma and everything seems doom and gloom as Alya is left with Tikki and Plagg. A wish has to be made so she does the wish herself, though pressed against time and fear some of the wording gets... a bit too literal.
"I wish me and my friends were far away from Hawk Moth"
Oh... they are taken far away, however, when the world is rebuild... the heroes of Paris wake up in... surprisingly... the same word?... no- something is off, something is changed. Marinette takes a moment to analyze what's going on in her surroundings... and then she notices Tikki.
Yeah, the "far away" part of the wish? They've been transported into a new universe altogether, and since they're not native to this universe, they'd have to 'accommodate' to this universe.
Consequences? No miraculi, however, the kwamis are still visible... because they aren't technically kwamis anymore. They're become part of a species that resides in this universe, bakugans.
While at first Marinette freaks out and tries to understand what's going on, Alya tries to calm her down. Since they realize that they can't turn into their super hero alter-egos, she comes to the conclusion that there's no longer a Hawk Moth, they can maybe try to be kids for once. However, they slowly learn that this universe isn't all sunshine and rainbows. The kwamis are a different species now, and the girls quickly pick up what happened in this world. Cards had fallen down from the sky one day, and kids around the world started to play this game with the strange creatures that came out of the cards. Finding Nino in this world, the trio starts to play the game and learn the rules, until a strange masked figure shows up and challanges the group.
I also have some designs done
You'll all see that I struggle with bakugan ball forms...
Marinette (and Tikki)
Tikki has the Pyrus attribute. I know that haos would be a better match (being the light attribute and also having a correlation with darkus), but in a way Pyrus can also be seen as a "light" attribute (being in a diagonal relation to darkus), plus Tikki being already red helps with keeping her color scheme the same.
Also the bakugan!kwamis may have non-conventional bakugan designs (I also suck at bakugan designs I'm gonna cry), but I am going for a "cute"-look with some inspiration from Wontu
You can't really see it thanks to the vest but I kinda tried to add a 'flower' emblem/logo on Marinette's shirt. The flower also resembles the pyrus logo... lol
Lucky charm can still be used outside of brawls, and can technically still repair stuff if needed.
Adrien (and Plagg)
Technically transformations aren't a thing here (Adrien had to find it the hard way when he tried to transform only to see Plagg still there), but that doesn't mean he can't improvise something.
The reason he brought back the Chat Noir persona? He wanted to play the game but of couse mr. Gabriel "No fun" Agreste didn't let him.
Teeeechnically not a sentimonster as while the bakugan!kwamis still can use their abilities outside of battle, Gabriel and Emilie never came in contact with Duusu (they came in contact with Nooro, so this Gabriel knows some of the shit going on)
Scratch that he's still a senti-kid. (Felix and Kagami too)
Emilie is also alive in this! :D
Since I plan for the magic abilities to still be useable outside of battle, I'd imagine Felix's family came in contact with Duusu. They let Gabriel and Emilie (as well as Tomoe) to use Duusu to create the kids. Since there's no broken miraculous, Emilie gets to live, so Gabriel doesn't spiral into his villain arc.
Cataclysm can still be used when Plagg is in ball form by Adrien... may come in handy.
Marinette manages to recognize Adrien through his disguise... she'll also have a mini crisis realizing that Adrien was Chat (and vice versa)
Iiiii technically have a design for Alix and Fluff too but I'll post that later since I want to at least get the cast that will be in the first season section of the story.
#bakugan#miraculous ladybug#marinette dupain cheng#adrien agreste#would this count as chat noir too? on a technicality?#crossover#crossover au#alternate universe#idk which name to use for the AU tag#I may decide later and update the tags at a later date#also idk if Ill actually do stuff for this au or just get tangled in doodle shenanigans#PixelByteSquad

Here's the thing, Felix is problematic yes but I didn't mind it??? It even made his character more interesting to me???
Some of it (like him trying to kiss ladybug) was just ew, but most of it was amazing??? He's basically the curious cat Adrian was supposed to be. Since he entered the story and stirred the pot, the show has been pushed forward so much!!!
He found out about everything happening in the Agreste mansion, was deeply horrified by most of it and at the end made a deeply selfish decision that benefits him. He then used his miraculous to go on a fucking power trip with a dance number to boot. And he's the fanon favorite to pit against any character as a competent, smart and classy opponent, no Lila dumb down magic or Chloe daddy's influence required.
He's awful but he's fun awful.
He is!
I have watched some clips of him, really only his intro ep, and yeah, he was really fun. it was the first time in a while I was having a blast watching a character on this show. I do think part of it is that he's the official first "mean boy" to come in, as a lot of the guys are sweet and charming, they do have their moments but it's not usually acknowledged to be an issue. Felix immediately sets that tone though of being an antagonist and not supposed to like him (which he's such a breath of fresh air, he was pretty enjoyable as a character).
Yeah, I wasn't crazy about him trying to kiss Ladybug without consent, but unfortunately that's something we just can't get away from given that Chat does try to move to kiss LB without consent, it's probably something Felix did in the PV days, and it's something older concept Marinette has tried to do as well.
But yeah, he also progressed things that no one has been able to do in 4 seasons, specifically Adrien who lives with the show's villain and discovered a Miraculous related book but never questions it. Come on, Adrien, what are you doing with your life?
So Felix progressing things was appreciated.
But there were a few things I didn't like.
One was canon Felix bringing in the concept of the feather babies, I really don't like the concept of the sentikids, especially with how they went about it. Given that Emilie we knew for sure was the only one using the Peafowl to make sentis, for a period of time, I was actually afraid of the possibility that Adrien and Kagami were going to technically be siblings as they came from the same creator. Also I got the impression that Emilie made herself twins, picked her favorite of the two, and passed the other onto her sister.
With nothing being clear on the feather babies for a while, there was so much "I don't like this" I was feeling.
Two were his actions in the s4 finale. Now, I didn't watch it, it's just based on what I've heard, which didn't include anything of his reasoning (if it was even given), but I felt it really clashed against Felix based around his first few eps, and defining him as a smart, clever character.
So Felix is defined by having a dislike of Gabriel, which is understandable given that Gabriel is an ass, didn't attend his brother-in-law's funeral and show support to extended family, and refused to hand back the family heirlooms that it sounds like Emilie just took and made to be their wedding rings. And then Felix finds out that Gabriel is HM, who threatens Felix and his family.
So, defining Felix to be smart and disliking Gabriel, does he:
A. Approach Ladybug/the heroes about this, as the enemy of my enemy is my friend, and it could be a quick way of getting Gabriel handled, or Felix could potentially get a Miraculous out of this given Ladybug has a record of handing out Miraculous and she gave one to freaking Chloe of all people despite nearly causing a train accident.
B. Make a very stupidly reckless deal with Gabriel, trading 15 Miraculous that he probably has limited knowledge on what they can do over for 1, which Gabriel will know he has, and just hold faith that Gabriel will not come after Felix with his 16 Miraculous to reclaim the one that is pretty OP and useful and he knows where it's located.
Hearing that Felix does B was very baffling. Especially as he does this after Gabriel has threatened him and has a magical jewelry to power him and have an edge over Felix, what Felix logically should do is find his own Miraculous ally or get a means to have a Miraculous himself to even the odds.
His best bet is with Ladybug, which I will say, she probably wouldn't trust him, but she's the safer option than believing he can make a deal with Gabriel and believing that Gabriel will keep his word. Which I know it seems like Gabriel catches Felix when he tries to steal the two brooches, which if that's when a deal was made, I would probably vote having Felix act as a double agent. Ease in the idea that he's going to help the heroes, but right now, the villain has a literal blade over his head.
Also, I feel like his actions done in the s4 finale, make a lot more sense if it was Lila. Lila who actually has a grudge against Ladybug and works with HM. It would be in her own interest to get HM those Miraculous, not Felix.
While I don't get the impression Felix has a grudge/dislikes Ladybug, even if he did, it just doesn't make sense for him to help Gabriel over her when she could be his greatest ally against his uncle.
I think he was a great and needed inclusion the first few eps, but s4 fianle and from what I hear s5, he wound up dropping the ball as a character. At least for me.

Thoughts on Miraculous Ladybug : A Comment from YouTube I'm proud of about themes and Gabriel
and don't get me STARTED on Gabriel. the undercut and sabotaged any nuance this man had for 5 freaking seasons. every time he showed nuance or good feelings, they undercut it by forcing him to do something worse to snuff out any sense of sympathy or complexity, so we know who the bad guy and good guy is. yet they try to ham fist a last-minute redemption?!
don't get me wrong I actually DO want a redeemable complex Gabriel but its VERY confusing and just BAD how they handled it. at the very least they could have made it better if they literally said he was good and genuinely had good intentions to save his wife. after all she was 'missing' which means the plan was to use the wish to wake her up and she could come back using going missing as a cover. He wasn't raising the dead as she was in a magical coma.
he has a fix it as he knew if he lost that the ladybug miraculous would fix things and if he won, he could use the ladybug miraculous to fix any damage he did. by making 'hawkmoth' the villain it means people would have a target outside of the victims and the victims technically have to agree to the powers, so Gabe has the illusion of consent. and his plan to make a villain was to lure the ladybug and chat miraculous out of hiding by forcing them to activate to fix the problem since he couldn't track it down otherwise.
Overall, yes, it's not 'good' but his plan made sense in a way of minimizing damage for just wanting to save his wife. play up the fact they had no one to ask for help since the guardians were gone...from his view he was 'acting' as a villain. he had no training and didn't even have a properly translated book and wasn't chosen for his role.
just point to the fact Gabe has been using his miraculous of emotions wrong. he has been amplifying his own negative emotions to feel others negative emotions and forcing a fixation on the miraculous to get his victims to try to steal them. we have literally seen how even being a little emotionally off can have consequences.
Feast with fu was a rouge Senti-monster that sensed Fu's negative emotions, negative emotions that weren't even a part of why he made the Senti-being (which was to get him some snacks, Marinette's miraculous immediately timing down when she used it to separate Adrien and Chloe instead of attacking bubbler due to her jealousy, how Tikki's snack attack affected Mari when Mari transformed. and how Akuma Victims are prone to making dumb mistakes and you literally can't reason with them properly and act more fixated and aggressive.
they could have fixed the situation by just pointing out as a side effect from using his miraculous the way he was...his personality was literally getting twisted like his Akumas due to using mis miraculous in a way it wasn't supposed to be intended. Even more with how they mention using multiple ones can cause a strain on you and literally make you insane.
that way it would validate the times Gabe was reasonable or genuinely cared as the real him while also validating and explaining all the times he became SO much worse and cartoonishly evil.
while I would have preferred Adrien actually being there in the final battle with hawkmoth..... if they just played up that Mari being more willing to sympathize and see the villians genuinely needed help and weren't just evil was due to adrien's/chat's influence because that is adrien's strength in the show. his sympathy and ability to think deeper on motivations and not just punish and how he helped teach mari to not take things entirely at face value and be more patient.
heck the final battle could have worked if they played up the Mari and gabe are actually genuinely VERY similar. they have LOTS of parallels in the show...
like I think they were going for a parallel to collector/the end of collector when mari went to him to give him the book she took(even if lila took it first) where gabe surprised us by him admiring ehr stepping forward and not being mad at her, even answering her questions and agreeing not to tell adrien when she asked him to keep silent. and a reminder about how gabe did give a genuine apology to adrien at the end of collector when he could have gotten away with not doing so since adrien DID steal the book from his locker...Gabe genuinely apologized in depth.
but because the show had spent most of the season undercutting any goodness in Gabriel again with no explanation to cover it like saying it was the influence of him going insane like his victims due to how he had been using his miraculous....it just feels unearned and messed up. even more if he was going to use the wish...why couldn't he had used it so Nathalie and the mom would be okay? if his plan had always been to use himself in case there was a price how would Mari have reacted?
like I still don't get why she trusted him at all. and because they never mentioned Gabe going insane or his behavior was due to how he handled the miraculous (like Akuma victims)
...it just comes across as Gabe just being genuinely terrible and abusive as him as a default for most of the show which makes the redemption/him fighting his choice WEIRD.
like please for the love of GOD WHY did they not just make it a side effect of using his brooch the way he did literally! it would have used the fact they primed us to sympathize/not judge what people do under the Akuma influence/in the deepest throes of their negative feelings because its prompted by them being twisted by the magic to at least give Gabe a BUFFER(for the audience).
It would make him 'fighting' so to speak, literally him fighting how he had twisted himself literally with the way he used the miraculous...like how people can fight drugs or the fought akums before. and the tragedy that Nathalie thought Gabe was just bad...not realizing her enabling him using the brooch the way he did twists someone she genuinely cared about.
like, it is easy to notice at judge the physical effects of the peacock broach, but the mental effect of the butterfly is HONESTLY terrifying/scary and has so many implications if their plan was to hint that original Gabe was more similar to Betterfly.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
I think it works even more because it would also explain why Gabe seemed different in this specific fight because he didn't know Adrien was chat noir. people often use Gabe's reaction to Adrien being Chat Noir to validate seeing Gabe as just an abusive horrible person...but what I've also seen is if Gabe actually talks or is around Adrien for enough time Gabe WILL soften to some degree...pointing to how Gabe does care for Adrien and that it grounds him more in his original motive/personality.
So, the change might be because Gabe has been amplifying his negative feelings so 'hawkmoth' is more focused and fixated on the miraculous and defeating ladybug and chat...finding out Adrien is chat makes the 'hawkmoth' affects take over more.
like how we saw Nate and others relax at times around certain people that breakthrough the delusion (like when Nate was actually convinced to leave Chloe alone to go hang with Marinette) but he snapped back into his villain mindset when Mari's actions echoed Chloe.
I think what's worse is it's not even a rewrite since all the blocks are THERE but the show just never acknowledges it.

Miraculous: Magical Connections Update #3 - Creative Slump, General Update, + Sneak Peek
As the title of this update says, I'm in a bit of a creative slump when it comes to both writing and drawing, so it's been hard to motivate myself to continue working on the rewrite. I'm not sure when I'll be able to start working on it again more frequently but I'll try to be more active on Tumblr in light of this
But fret not! I have some good news too! I have the entire first chapter of origins complete as well as about half of the character backstories so once my motivation comes back, I should be able to get some stuff posted soon
Since I can't do much about progressing the rewrite further at this point, I want to give you all a sneak peek of the first chapter, I hope you enjoy <3
As he finished packing, he noticed a ring in his bag that was clearly not his. He didn't really enjoy jewelry, especially while training with Nora, and he knew most people here didn't have jewelry for the same reason. Although he supposed Cookie was the exception but his rings are gold and a lot bigger then the small black ring he held in his hand.
"When'd you start wearing rings?" Nora asked as he walked out of the locker room.
"I don't," He answers, "It was just in my bag."
"Huh, that's weird." She hums, "But finders keepers I guess."
"I'm not going to steal someone's ring Nora," He says, shaking his head.
"It was in your bag though."
He raised a brow, "And?"
"So it's technically yours now."
"That's not how that works." He huffs, "I'll figure out who's it is later."
"At least put it on kid! It's pretty cool." Nora urges.
Adrien rolled his eyes but complied, slipping the ring on. As soon as he did, Adrien saw a black cat walking throughout the gym. He blinked a few times, confused as to where the cat came from and why no one seemed to care. Was it a service animal? If it was, it should be near someone, right?
"You sure you're not a jewelry person?" Nora questions, "I think the ring works."
Adrien looked down at the ring, the black turned to silver and it seemed to almost morph so it was practically stuck on his finger. Nora didn't seem to notice and Adrien was not about to freak out when this was clearly some magical stuff that he wasn't sure what to do with yet. He was an anime nerd, sue him.
"Yeah." He nods, "I gotta go, bye Nora."
"Later kid."
Adrien needed to figure out what to do with the ring as soon as he could.

I really want Adrien to have a crush on ladybug and nino, because then his type would be people who yell at his dad, though he’s yet to know. And then this ideas struck me. So, what if Adrien gets hit by an akuma that makes you confess hidden feelings and left stuck with marinette, courtesy of RenaPace. Except his crush on ladybug is not hidden so he confesses his feelings about nino.
And marinette would listen to him, like the good friend she is, about how it’s hopeless cause even if nino wasn’t dating alya, his father would never approve. Marinette, being Marinette, jumps to conclusions. Of course he didn’t notice her, he was gay, (technically ace) and his father is a homophobic piece of shit, (no, he’s just a classist piece of shit and a control freak). She
Unbeknownst to them alya and nino have amicably split to pursue ladybug and Chat noir respectively, because they do stand more of a chance as heroes, but they can’t exactly explain that to civilians. So there are More Identity shenanigans with alya and Rena, marinette and ladybug, nino and carapace and Adrien and chat

agreed.
the series made a point - multiple times! - that "hawkmoth vs cat noir = everyone loses". it was one of the key elements to maintaining the need for ladbug&catnoir to NOT know each other's true identities (and thus ensure the plot relevance of the love square).
there is no way to write a 14-year old facing their abusive parent in a way both consistent with the show thus far (s5 was all about emotional honesty & the series overall is idealistic)... and "kid-friendly".
it is a very, VERY bad idea to put a child in open confrontation with a parent like gabriel agreste.
not just dangerous in a "boss fight" kind of way but in a "you are putting a kid into a violent situation with their caregiver".
adrien (& thus cat noir) would NOT be able to fight his own father. hawkmoth/monarch could not be "taken down" without secret identities getting revealed because, for one thing, ladybug was only able to locate him because she LEARNED HIS IDENTITY. the "win" condition for S5 was the yoinking of gabriel's miraculous: i was very impressed by the boldness of the show in how the "ladybug vs monarch" finale went down. how much of its "something is OFF here" was deliberate versus being due to "we only planned for 5 seasons but got renewed for 3 more" has yet to be seen.
i suspect that gabriel "winning" was planned well in-advance, though the specifics of his redemption/changed!wish likely changed over time. the wish & "gimmi" were just too well-designed within the series lore to go unused. the full zodiac's worth of extra miraculous? THAT screams "this cartoon is trying to sell you merchandise"... standard practice for modern animation, tbh.
the extra miraculous DID allow the series to narratively set up its audience for how a "villainous victory" would affect the characters, their relationships with each other, and the story being told. shadowmoth's triumph, his claiming most every miraculous, was ALSO a very convenient means for the writers to get rid of all those "made for merch" super allies (from seasons 3&4) ahead of s5's Serious Plot Business.
oh! another reason why "cat noir vs gabriel agreste = everyone loses", aside from "do not try IRL" family dynamics, "hawkmoth is supposed to win" & love square retension for seasons 5+?
adrien is literally incapable of disobeying his father. not just because "do not try this at home" (effects of abusive family dynamics) but, like, actual magic. felix tried to get adrien's control ring from gabriel, like, 3 times? across different seasons? he kept failing. neither marinette nor adrien were going to succeed in ignorance where FELIX had failed (he had a whole villain arc about it). unless the writers wanted to write seasons 6+ of miraculous WITHOUT a lovesquare? ladybug AND gabriel needed to be oblivious as to HOW cat nr's presence consistently resulted in Bad Timelines for everyone: in the s5 finale proper, ladybug is only able to defeat monarch because... gabriel freaked out about how close her cataclysm-ready hand was to ADRIEN'S AMOK (&control ring). since ladybug is an idealistic teenager & gabriel was an increasingly immoral (& privately wealthy) supervillain? the ONLY way ladybug could have defeated monarch is via unwittingly threatening gabriel's son out of existence... or by killing him.
even then ladybug still - technically! - only defeated hawkmoth/monarch by getting gabriel agreste killed. from the POV of [future plot devices] & herself, anyway.
(that monarch was "dying via cat noir" anyway is just more fodder for the continued presence of the lovesquare/"ladybug & cat noir cannot reveal their true identities to each other")
for all the reasons above & more, cat noir could NOT have been present for the final battle against hawkmoth/monarch. it would have been a plot-holed character assassinating scenario RIDDLED with unpleasant, kid-UNfriendly Unfortunate Implications.
Honestly I think my take on the "Chat Noir was not there in the final battle" comes down to the fact that I kind of just don't think a satisfying final battle between Chat Noir and Monarch was actually possible.
I read a lot of fic, for example, and I've read the scenario play out a lot of times in a ton of ways and I've never been fully convinced of it tbh (and not because they weren't great fic!!). It seems just completely traumatic for Adrien in a way that the scenario inherently cannot properly focus on, because it's all happening in the middle of an action scene and Adrien is too busy being Mid-Battle to properly have a cathartic breakdown about it all. I mean, Chat Blanc already showed us what would happen if he did have a breakdown mid-battle (and why wouldn't he?). And though it'd be fun to have a big triumphant moment of him defeating his abusive father, Adrien simply isn't a character who would find that scenario triumphant, or cathartic, or anything other than viscerally traumatic.
Also, I agree that it's unfair that Chat Noir was not present— like it was unfairly tilted in Ladybug's favor— but I don't think it'd be fair if he was present, either. Because Marinette is, in fact, the main character. The main character whose character arc is primarily focused on her finding her footing as a hero and discovering all the responsibilities that come with that power (as opposed to Adrien, whose character arc is moreso about freedom and identity). And let's face it, in a fight between Ladybug and Chat Noir and Monarch, nobody would be focused on Ladybug at all. It's not about her. It's not her fight. She'd just be there as moral support and an extra set of hands, which really doesn't work for her character arc at all and is completely unfair to her!
Basically, it would just be Chat Noir temporarily acting as the main character and having the worst time of his life in the most un-cathartic battle for him possible left completely traumatized with Ladybug in the background awkwardly trying to comfort him after the fact? And then the season ends? And then the next season presumably goes back to Ladybug being the main character? After a time-skip to the new school year? It's just an ending that I feel like is a lot better in theory than actually on paper. And you can probably make an argument for ways that it could be made to work, where it would enhance Ladybug's story in a meaningful way where she still feels like the main character, and would somehow be triumphant for Chat Noir despite it probably being the worst moment of his life, and somehow not make the rest of the series following feel like bonus content as opposed to a continuation of the story...... but, I dunno. I think it's a lot easier said than done.
The fact of the matter is, I've always been waaayyyy more interested in how the aftermath of Gabriel's defeat affects Adrien than the battle itself. Post-Hawkmoth defeat is one of my favorite types of fic for a reason, and it's because the aftermath can be so juicy, especially for Adrien as a character. I think whether or not Adrien is actually there in the battle itself has always been kind of irrelevant to me, because no matter how Gabriel is defeated, his defeat will have immense repercussions on Adrien's life going forward. And the way they did it, Marinette is now a part of it in a more active way, too. Which is good for her character!
( Also, if he was there to triumphantly defeat Gabriel, would that mean he would just.... watch his father die? of cataclysm? a-and.... nathalie would just.... die, too? so he'd have three dead parents after all that? who he watched all die (or, in emilie's case, saw her corpse)? or is this a scenario where MONARCH BEATS CHAT NOIR and still makes the wish? is that cathartic? for Adrien to lose to Gabriel? Frankly, I loved seeing Gimmi and The Wish, it's been teased for so long that I was expecting it, and I loved the fact that Nathalie got to live as her narrative reward for coming to her senses and trying to murder Gabriel with a crossbow. I like that we got to watch a full season of Gabriel painfully dying to a cataclysm— poetically inflicted on him by Adrien, but of Gabriel's own doing. I like that Nathalie has presumably adopted Adrien after having an arc of her trying to be a parent to him once she realized nobody else would, that's so much more interesting than any other alternative. I just don't see how all of these things, some of my favorite things that season 5 gave, can still all exist at once with Chat Noir present in the final battle in any way that's satisfying. )

So I just saw someone claim Felix is against murder because he freaked out when he couldn't bring Marinette back in Emotion
Felix freaking out over being unable to bring Mari back wasn't because he was 'against murder'????
He was perfectly fine to murder everyone else!!! Even if Red Moon technically has them in a limbo not-dead 'he can bring them back' state they're going to die eventually.
He was only freaked out about not being able to bring Mari back because Adrien and Kagami were mad at him about it!!!

CHANGING FACES Chapter 6: Arrival
[ Prefer to read on Archive of Our Own? Link HERE! ]
[ Previous Chapter - Next Chapter ]
After years of dealing with each other Lila Rossi win’s when she convinces Hawkmoth that Marinette is Ladybug. In order to throw off suspicion and keep the Miracle Box safe Marinette and her supportive parents leave Paris and head to Gotham of all places. In this new place away from her friends and her unhealthy routines Marinette is forced to confront herself and change for the better. Helping her on her journey is a surprising new friend and potential ally. When Alya missing her friend learns about the chance to win a free trip to Gotham she convinces the class to work hard to qualify. When her new life clashes with her old one will Marinette be able to hold on strong to her new confidence or will she crumble under the pressure?
( This fic will be for the most part comedic, fluffy, and sweet, with only a bit of seriousness to tie it together. With only the mildest salt because I don’t think the class or Adrien are bad people just that they can be naive and selfish thanks to the canon writing. I hope you enjoy reading this work and have fun with me on this journey. )
CHAPTER 6:
Arrival
Marinette had never been so happy to be on solid ground. The plane ride had been… Turbulent to say the least not to mention long leaving Marinette to agonize and worry the entire time that maybe while she was busy up in the sky Hawkmoth would strike luckily the freak of a villain seemed busy and so the flight passed without the need to use Kaalki which was a great thing as Marinette was unsure just how precise the power of voyage was.
As the small family of 3 disembarked from the plane with their meager belongings Marinette breathed in the fresh air with relief it was chilly and barely light out … She was tired, yes, but she was also giddy and a strange sense of freedom was filling her with every step she took. There was no Hawkmoth here, no purple butterflies no constant need to lock her own emotions into vault, no more need to lie to her parents, no more Bustier telling her to be the classes shining example, no more Lila whispering lies behind her back, no more Adrien too shoot her longing puppy dog stares as he waited for her to ‘forgive him’ when he had never bothered to apologize.
She was free. She was safe? … Well as safe as one could be moving to a city known for its killer clowns and freaks in masks. Not that Marinette wasn’t prepared for that, her training with her own mother and the Amazon’s of Themyscira for the last few years had transformed her small unassuming body into a weapon. Not to mention the new magical training the Kwamis were giving her, Tikki especially pushed for more training once she started learning just how awful some of the villains of Gotham were and she made Marinette promise that if the Joker so much as even looked at her she would not hesitate to transform him into a cockroach. Technically it wasn’t murder so she figured Batman would be fine with it.
As they moved through the airport presenting their documentation to the necessary people Marinette’s excitement only grew with her fingers twitching with anticipation as the polite woman welcomed them to their new home and they exited the security clearance area into the wider airport. Her eyes scanned the crowd eagerly until they landed on the group of 3 men chatting amongst themselves. She let out a squeal and started running, catching the men’s attention as she flung herself at them in joy. Jason however acted fast and caught her first wrapping her into a tight brotherly hug and lifting her off the ground and away from Dick and Alfred.
“Woah there jelly bean you trying to take the old man out? Lucky I caught you huh!”
Marinette snorted and rolled her eyes trying to squirm out of Jason’s grasp so she could hug Alfred and Dick who was looking rather put out.
“Oh please Alfred’s not frail he’s like Grandma Gina he will live forever at this rate and be healthier then all of us.”
Tom and Sabine chuckled at the scene as they walked over with their meager bags and proceeded to hug Alfred and catch up while Dick tried to pry Marinette free from Jason in order to get his hug that Jason had so rudely stolen. Marinette meanwhile dangled from Jason’s arms with an amused and exasperated look on her face. She’d missed her ‘brothers’ greatly and was happy to see them again. There was just one thing, one tiny little thing…
“When did you freaks get so tall!”
The sudden comment had both boys stopping as they seemingly for the first time paused to take in Marinette’s appearance. Sure they had seen pictures of her and video chatted plenty of times but this was the first time in years where they had physically been around her and now that they were…
“I think the better question here is why are you so short.” Marinette gasped in faux offense squirmed out of Jason’s grasp clutching her heart in mock betrayal.
“How could you say such a thing… Dick is my favorite now.”
The oldest Wayne grinned and accepted his hug while sticking his tongue out at Jason who was playing the part of the dramatically betrayed.
However now that Dick was hugging his little sister he could not help but blurt out. “God you really are short.”
Marinette squawked indignantly at the comment. “What no! I’m normal it's you two who are the-” She gestured at them with waving arms. “Alfred! What have you been feeding them and where can I get some!”
Alfred chuckled and opened his arms calmly to accept the warm hug of his god daughter. “I’m afraid I haven’t been feeding them anything unusual; they simply sprung up like weeds.”
Marinette huffed and puffed up her cheeks. Stupid genetics.
“Ah don’t feel too bad jelly bean Dickie here isn’t even THAT tall, just wait till you meet Kori in the flesh now that's tall.”
As the group moved its way out of the airport Marinette recalled the measurements she’d received when designing Kori’s wedding dress, not to mention the pictures that showed the beautiful tan woman towering a full head over Dick at the altar. Maybe it was something in the water of Gotham that made people tall. Considering all the supervillains she would not doubt it.
“When will I finally get to meet Kori and Mar’i face to face anyway? I wanna hug my cute little niece already!!!”
“Why? Because she’s the only one not taller than you?” Jason snickered before letting out a surprised yelp as Marinette playfully punched him in his side with a pout. She had some surprising strength in that arm of hers.
“Later in the week, they wanted to come pick you up with us but it was so early and your parents told us your new school was giving you a week off to adjust to the new timezone before classes start.” Honestly it had been a hectic night with Mar’i refusing to sleep determined to go with Dick to the airport but eventually she fell asleep clutching Silkie and so Dick had left alone.
“What school are you going to anyway, jelly bean? Maybe I can come pick you up sometime after school for some lessons in self defense at my gym.” Mostly he wanted to see her flatten some of the men twice her size; he knew Sabine had been training Marinette since she was young and he was eager to see what his little sis was capable of.
Marinette smiled at the thought. “That sounds nice, as for my new school mom and Alfred arranged it for me, I think it's called Gotham Academy.”
Marinette missed the way Dick and Jason whipped their heads around to glare at Alfred. Gotham Academy wasn’t a bad school, in fact one could easily say the opposite: it had great staff, good facilities, and it had accepted Marinette on a full ride scholarship thanks to her high grades and many achievements. The problem was the school was also full of a bunch of rich leeches, but worst of all it had Damian. Now both older Wayne’s could admit they loved there little brother even if Jason would deny it to keep his cool reputation but Damian had a bit of a bad track record with first impressions. Not to mention the fact that the 3 Wayne’s had already discussed how best to introduce the Dupain-Chengs to the rest of the family so they could all be one bigger happier family and they had agreed to wait and while and let them settle in before dropping the bomb that was the Wayne family and more specifically BRUCE on to them but if Marinette met Damian at school and got a bad idea of him… Things would get complicated.
Alfred however unlike the younger two Wayne men was not worried. He had a feeling that Marinette and Damian were just what the other needed right now. Yes, he’d heard many things about Marinette’s situation from her parents. What she needed now was someone to bring out that bold Marinette he knew was waiting for a chance to shine. And as for his youngest grandson while he had been doing much better and had made friends he was still hostile and wary Marinette however might be just what he needed. The old man chuckled with a warm smile.
“I think you will like Gotham Academy very much, Marinette.”
—-----------------------------------
Damian Wayne had a reputation. Since his first ever day at school at the age of 10 after he’d moved in with his father the young heir had… Problems with other students. His personality was icey and his training too deeply ingrained that school and him had not gone well. Yet his father refused to let him skip or be homeschooled, determined that with time school would help him develop his social skills. For the first few years Damian was alone he shoved people away and did only what was required waiting for the day when finally his father would see that school was beneath him and he could achieve so much more without it.
At 13 that reputation evolved. And not for the better. Damian had been so sure of his own intelligence and his own superiority that he failed to notice that viper slinking through the grass. A girl, the same age as him, unlike other girls who had failed to approach him due to the obvious attempts, Lila had been more subtle. Instead of acting interested in him she acted unfazed she even began dating Jon the only person his age Damian was close to. He’d let his guard down thinking that she was nothing but a simple sweet girl. But he had never been more wrong.
Somehow the viper had found his weakness, somehow she knew that deep down under all his posturing he felt insecure, unloved, unwanted, and she prayed on it. She made him feel strong, she made him feel special, she made him feel wanted, she used lies to paint Jon the villain and herself the victim so that Damian would save her and fall deeper into the strange infatuation that clouded his mind. She was a snake. And worst of all he had not even discovered her lies himself; it had been sheer dumb luck overhearing her plot her schemes that had revealed the truth to him.
But by that point it was too late. The vipers poison had already spread and Damian Wayne’s reputation fell from just ‘ice king’ to ‘monster’ even after the lawsuit even after proving her lies and sending the snakes father to jail. Even after he had proven himself innocent… The reputation clung to him. It was a stain that would not wash off, even after Dick convinced him to go to therapy and his attitude improved, even after he fixed the broken relationship with his family, even after he broke out of his shell and made friends in his school, the stain was still there and every action he did and didn’t take only made it worse.
It's not that Damian wasn’t trying, because he was really. He tried to be polite and courteous; he tried to make a good impression. But somehow someway it often seemed to go wrong, though it did not help that his peers were a bunch of rich kids who tended to be overly sensitive, at least in Damian’s eyes. It did not help that Damian was self admittedly a little… Overly blunt and honest not to mention how sensitive he was about girls flirting with him, he knew he’d not fully recovered from the Vipers poison and so even now 3 years after she was gone he was on high alert constantly on the lookout for lies and manipulation. And this… alertness of his had led to again more then a few terrible first impressions.
To put it simply, Damian was aware that whenever a new student was joining the school bets were made on how fast Damian Wayne would manage to offend them. So when the teacher announced that come next Monday a new student would be joining the class a young girl all the way from France no less a ripple of excitement went through the class as once more bets were being made. This time however Damian Wayne was determined to make them all lose. He would be polite, and courteous he would not snap, not say anything un-intentionally mean, he would be normal, he would simply ignore the new girl and all would be well.
Which is why of course his Teachers asked him to give the new girl the school tour. He was one of the few who spoke French and they were unsure how good the girl's English was so they wanted to play it safe and coincidentally all the other students who could speak French just so happened to be too busy to help the new student. Damian seethed he knew it was a lie, they just wanted to force him to interact with her for their little bets. Fine then! A Wayne is not so easily defeated. He would be a perfect gentleman, he would not offend the girl, it would be fine. He would prove to himself and everyone else that Damian Wayne might be the Ice Prince of Gotham but he was no brute. Bring it on Monday Damian Wayne was ready to meet the new girl.
( Thank you again for all the patience and support! I tend to update slowly due to well... The need to keep food on the table and my finances have been especially tight lately so I was struggling but things are getting better now so hopefully I can write more often in the near future. This first chapter was more to establish some stuff I know its a little short but it felt good to get back into this fic with something a little neater sweeter and smaller. Hopefully I have more up soon! )

oh my god THANK YOU. NO one freaking talks about how they built up that mari would get to confess as something really important and it got freaking outed by Andre the icecream man! Even worse it was outed by Andre the icecream man being out of character! No only did they have Andre learn in a previous episode he was wrong for pushing his ship when he went all weird about marichat hanging out at a move and getting called out for Ladynoir shipping and had seemed to chillout...but he had been FINE shipping marinette and adrien with seperate people before(including kagami, luka and even a selflove icecream!). and more importantly he had NEVER saidanyone's name before. He'd make a point about the icecream representing hair color, r passion or eye color or lips ect! but he had NEVER explicetly stated who the icecream represented! and yet he's going push that it represents Adrien for marinette and Ladybug for Chat noir?
Like....I could get if he brought up maybe Chatnoir's icecream representing Ladybug if they really wanted is shaking things up since Andre has fixated on that ship a bit so Chat could say he didn't like LB like that anymore but don't bring up Adrien!
Like it makes no SENSE! They've made a point that one of marinete's weaknesses is that she underestimates the importance of words and the affect she has on other people. As much as she likes Adrien her feelinsg for Adrien are generally more about her wanting him to like her back but fearing vulnerability were she never really thinks about how she acts from HIS point of view.
I was excited for the fact mari being dishonest about her feelings could have consequences...like Adrien not believing her feelings later because LB had always been firm about not liking Chat back(romantically at least) and Mari had always denied, denied, denied her feelings for Adrien too Adrien. Adrien wasn't oblivious! Mari was just BAD at communicating her feelings and Adrien wasn't in the wrong for believing her at face value when mari is rather straitforward and honest about her other thoughts and when standing up for her feelings. and Mari DOES tend to put adrien on a pedestal and use her crush on him to just feel normal and project from a safer distance.
Like...Adrien I undersand falling for Marinette on his own. It makes sense. He has a fairly accurate view of Ladybug AND Marinette(even if Mari tends to hide her negative sides from Adrien unlike how he has a clearly view of her LB side who doesn't hold back) which he gets to see as chat. And unlike Mari he has had closure on Ladybug and DID realize he could date someone and genuinely try by choosing the the type of feelings he would tend to(even if people try to dismiss his feelings for Kagami it WAS real as the love akuma sensed his feelings for Kagami and he had decided before he wasn't going to just switch targets back in frozer..which means when he did have chemistry with kagami later it WASN'T Kagami being a backup replacment....it went a bit too fast since Mari pushed them togther and he had o focus on LB more due to the loss of fu but he WAS real even if he's learned to try to move forward when there wasn't anything he could do to clear thinsg up with Kagami since it was his chat noir lie that got in the way).
And we HAVE seen Adrien clear admire and compliment Marinette alot and Mari had defended hsi right to go on the trip in Newyork and we know she is his type and that he has tried to impress her as chat before and tries to help her out all the time as Adrien...it makes sense Adrien would eventually get a crush on Mari on his own since technically Mari hadn;t needed to prove she was worthy of Adrien by doing anything in particlar.
But GOD I wish they never had him find out about her crush on him from ages ago so at least they could have had Mari keep the fact she fell first o herself or something or him thinking he has to compete with Luka or her mysterious Buttercup.
Just something the show could hang onto as a vulnerability that Mari could choose to reveal on her own terms later since the show made such a big deal about Mari building up the courage to tell him being pretty important.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Though I think whats more frusterating for me about Derision is not only does it maek no sense for how she treated Kim earlier in the show...Kim hasn; been interesting in Chloe since season 1 and he was chosen by Master fu(sortof...there was a time crunch but still) and Mari had no issue trusting him...yet they don't have him sincerely apologize when mari and his girlfreind brought it up? and he just brings up how chloe is pretty?! not to mention... Kim himself was afraid of spiders in a earlier episode!
If your goinf to give her trauma just have it be about FELIX pretending to be Adrien which she believed and lost all the miraculous which gave her a panic attack! and how despite knowing this is the real Adrien she isn't over that...but she doesn't have a good excuse as 'marinette' to explain her behaviour since thats 'ladybug's' trauma...so just have mari try to make up a excuse/trauma to justify her reaction around adrien since she can't give the real reason!
Mari ISN'T above lying or twisting situation a bit to justify herself...like when she made her avoiding Luka to be for Luka's sake since he'd be sad since she still likes Adrien even though BOTH she and Luka know their breakup wasn't due to a lack of interest in Luka or about Adrien but about how she was overwhelmed and felt she had to lie to luka and that he deserved better! Luka had been incredabily understanding about the breakup and made it clear he still wanted to be friends but it was MARI making it weird and choosing to avoid him on her own without a good excuse aside from being uncomfortable herself. Or howshe used the 'I hate liars' excuse as Ladybug to justify her reaction toward Chloe since her real reasons are her history with her as Marinette which she can't use to explain LB'S reaction...so Mari used the Liar reasoning...Same with mari's reaction toward Lila...Mari just strait up was jealous at first and didn't want adrien interested in Lila and didn't like Lila insulting LB or at least rying to pretend she was better than LB to impress Adrien...but LB didn't have a good reason to excuse her behavior of shouting at her in public instead of takng her to the side to talk so used the 'i hate liars' excuse.
Wha even was the point of derision when Chloe and Adrien hadn't been friends since Zoey appeared when Chloe cut off the friendship when Adrien said if she was mean again he'd stop being her friend! They already aren't friends and never even approached the topic of trying to make up again yet they try to act like its a big deal for Adrien to confront Chloe on her behaviour when he's already done that?
I hate it even more because it feels like they are trying to justify Mari's behaviour toward Adrien as some trauma response...but there ARE kids who are strait up bad at handing crushes the way mari is. We've seen Mari and Adrien date just fine in other timelines! Mari had a bad first impression...and personality wise she tends to over prepare and make complicated plans in general...
The show has made a point that Mari and Adrien's tend to be Opposites in hw they handle situations. Adrien tends to be rather straitforward with his feelings. He tries to flirt, compliment and get attention from the other person to test the waters and then was fairly direct in his confession. He already knew more or less where he stood with LB because he flirted with her to test the waters first and knew LB didn't realize his feelings were serious. and even after his confession he tends to joke about his own feelings even though he's sincere because he just likes expressing how he feels where he tends to bounce back on his own and not take rejections too personally. There are reasons despite how she knows his feelings are sincere that Mari tends to treat his feelings not sincere because they hadnle their crushes very differently. Adrien tends to have no issue being comfortable around LB adn knows feelings can change and that nothing can change if you don't say anything.
To contrast Mari tends to be all or nothing with her feelings toward Adrien. She tends to think about confessing as her main goal most of the time around him...but she doesn;t flirt with him or ease him into her feelings like chat did and she tends to want to show him her best sides and worry about his view of her even though adrien is fairly open about viewing mari very highly. She is bad at buildingon the opportunities to hang out when Adrien gives her opportunities and doesn't realize that you can build a relationship off friendship...mari wants Adrien to like her back the same amount immediately(as mari raised in public school fears the friendzone and doesn't realize when adrien says she's a friend, he is describing their current status(where they are just friends), that a good friend is the highest compliment Adrien can give and that it doesn't mean Adrien wouldn't be interested at all) even though Mari hasn't let him know she might be interested. She tends to backtrack and self sabotage. Saying she isn't interested and turning down opportunities to be alone with him to his face and having other excuses to jusify a action so he has no ide he was a motivational factor. Mari fears vulnerability whih they CAN tie to howshe was bullied in the past...but they don't need to make a specific moment as Mari had made a bad first impression...wants to make it better but fears making it worse...so she tends to hold back and collect info to feel closer to adrien but not risk vulnerability...which creates a loop of stengthening her feelings and feeling more distant......
hence why Mari's feelings for Adrien comes across as more being on a pedistal...ADRIEN chooses on his own to open up to her definitly...but despite that Mari has called him perfect, assumed he wouldn't have to lie like she does, assumed he would never run away from home and worry others during Christmas and underestimates the affect she can have on Adrien because her narrative is her trying to justify herself holding back. She's a teen so having rose tinted glassses honestly makes sense and IS cute because plenty of people have had crushes like that...but she also has treated him more as a love interest first and as a friend second. As much as she likes him...she was willing to psh him toward kagami on her own for fear of being vulnerable and risking failure. she doesn't NEED a big romantic trauma to justify her poor handling of her crush. Being afraid to be vulnerable makes sense for her as a character and her crossing lines and boundaries is easier because Adrien isn't aware so she can tell herself its not a problem.
Chat/adrien will overstep and mess up when he handles his crushes but that tends to be clear in why he messes up. Being too forward and pushy at times where when she is uncomfortable she WILL call him out. How joking and being casual about his feelings means she might forget to treat them seriously but can also give pressue at the wrong time when someone's made their feelings clear...even when he is no longer actually execting her to change her mind. How when he tried to imply they were a thing he immiedtaly knew he was in the wrong as it got copycat were the city tured against him and the fat they arent a thing and LB doesn't take his feelings seriously was what solved the problem and was his karma. When he got too giddy in that interview or about the kiss LB directly calls him out and makes her feelings plain where he knows to not expect anything and that he was in the wrong or how he acted. because he tends to be forward about his feelings its easier to see the mistakes and issies from how he handles his crush.
But that also means how Mari handles her crush is clearlythe opposite and that she tends to get away with things and its easier for her not to realize how poorly she is handling her crush because Adrien isn't aware of it. Mari tends to misunderstand the main issues when handling her crush and that despite the sincerity of the source of her crush....she has honestly treated adrien more like a celebrity crush first and not properly as a friend. The show PRETENDED like she had realizations but it never actually felt sincere because Adrien never points out he is uncomfortable or been hurt by how she's handled her crush nor having a sense of betrayal from finding out times Mari has crossed serious lines. like when she was mean to kagami due to her jealousy, or even lila...the show never really has adrien find out her original motives or the show justifies mari due to being technically right in some capacity...which actually mademe look forward to when the show would actually have Mari face she hadn't handled her crush well.
Yet what do they do? justify it with trauma that makes no sense! and never address that mari has broken into his house or his stuff! or how Adrien would have every right to be upset that the person he thought saw him clearly/normally as a friend first had him on this pedestal this whole time! They try to pretend like she properly fell for Chat but it just felt like she was trying to avoid going for Adrien because it never felt like she sincerely was thinking of chat's feelings...I LOVE how mari's weakness tends to be she struggles with accurate empathy and putting herself in others shoes properly but they never address it properly! the girl literally had no issue having chat(who she knew had a crush on her and who she JUST threw in the trash can) help her practice confessing to a different guy and just saw it as convenient sine chat wouldn't know and she didn't think that hard about chat trying to act platonic with LB because he was sincerely worried he made her feel disrespected.
Mari is already overcompensating for her worries which were exasperate with how she handled her crush! they don't need to justify it with trauma! plenty of teens get weirdly intense about crushes and don't realize they are putting the other on a pedestal and don't realize they are doing sketchy stuff since alot of info is easy to get now-a-days! How easy it can be to not realize you've cross boundaries because the other person doesn't know so you think you aren't bothering them. that your being considerate....but its just a ticking time bomb down the line. like...in fact if you never get across your feelings does it matter how much you love them? all they had to do is make it equal where mari faces some fall out for the bad ways she's handled her crush just like how the show addressed the issues Adrien did when handling his crush!
Every damn time I thought they were going to address her issues properly they try to address in in the scenarios where mari is actually in the right so it never actually feels like she learns anything about growing how she handles feelings!
Adrien already likes her! she has a buffer! why does the show DO this!
Also am I the only one who wonders if Adrien was using his crush on Marinette now to distract himself from his issues and cope? like him liking her feels sincere but he literally almost akumatized kim which feels wildly out of character for the guy who got alarmed about accidentally cataclysming HAWKMOTH and a Anon back in newyork.
honestly, I feel like it would have made more sense of he wasn't actually going to cataclysm Kim but Ladybug/Mari assumed he was...or is this some weird sign the show is going for?
Its just ODD especially when Adrien/chat is considered the most empathetic/understanding and the show was using Chloe in particular to teach Mari to see even bad people have nuance to them and can change and aren't as powerful as you think...yet they try to act like Adrien has a attitude problem now and that Chloe is irrdeemable?
Mari strait up joined forced with Chloe and had a genuine moment when Chloe decided not to out Mari's crush on Adrien before back at the movie premier.
Chloe being worse before I can understand but this just felt OFF
Rewatching Dark Cupid right after Derision is hilarious because Marinette's behavior towards Kim just does not line up with the backstory at all. Supporting him the way she does when he wants to declare his love for another girl she doesn't even know the name of yet in the beginning:
(I mean, look at this unspeakable trauma reaction here. How can Marinette even manage to stand up in the morning is what I'm asking lol)
She's just acting perfectly normal about it. Excited even. How can you claim that the Derision backstory the way we got it was ALWAYS the plan when you have written Marinette without any actual signs for it for YEARS?
Ironically Marinette is thanks to Derision the LEAST consistent character in all this now while Chloé being a massive bitch about love confessions towards her because she wants Adrien is the MOST consistent characterization between these two episodes.
Those are laughably bad priorities writing wise. S1 MARINETTE doesn't make sense anymore in this regard, and please don't ask me how sad it is in hindsight seeing the Valentine's Day episode have Marinette say that she will confess her love for Adrien, because you as the viewer knows by now that season 5 had André the ice cream man do it for Marinette in the Marichat episode.
And then ADRIEN had to hard core cuddle her into her romantic development for the rest of the season so she can finally at one point say "I love you" after Adrien had to openly and publicly do it and give her the princess treatment FIRST in way too many ways for it to not be sad at this point.
How do you manage that??
How is MARINETTE the character they screwed over the most in this case regarding Derision and Dark Cupid????
