So This past Tuesday we went to see the new Ninja Turtles
we were originally suppose to go see Oppenheimer
but plans changed last minute so we ended up
going to see Ninja Turtles.
I was very interested in this movie and followed
it production. Much like Transformers I'm a
life long Turtles fan so I was curious about it
being I think Turtles stuff should look a certain
way and somethings that have been done in recent
years such as Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
I didn't like. I never watched an episode but
I just think the character designs look like
shit and I wasn't going to watch it becasue of that
anyway on as for this movie I needed to see the
character designs for this movie before I would
do anything and happy to say I did like these
designs but more on that below.
Also yes there was some collectable goodies
for this movie too which you can see here!
Now as for this movie. I thought it was great!
I would have to say that I did enjoy it
it was fun and funny at times and I do feel
it has a nice message about family and
acceptance and finding a place where you feel
like you belong in the world.
Now this is a bit of a origin story and tries
to reintroduce the turtles to a new and modern
audiences. They are younger in this movie then
they usually are in other forms of media
the turtles are all 15 years old and not only
that but April is also in her teens in this as
well she is also around 15 and is still in
High School in this movie
The Turtles origin is of course slightly different
in this one. It is close to the familiar way the
Turtles become mutants but its slightly changed as
in how they became Ninjas. Also the origins of
the other Mutant characters in this is changed
as well. I think that did that just for the
sake of the story and it does work in the
context of this movies story.
As for the designs of the characters which
as I mentioned was a very important thing
I felt that the Turtle designs in this were
actually very good they were different
and did match the ages that the Turtles were
shown as they were young and child like almost
playing up the "Teenage" aspect of who they are.
Some of the other characters looked great too
like Bebop and Rocksteady
and I love how they brought in various characters
from Turtles lore like Leatherhead,Mondo Gecko,
Wingnut (what no screwloose??), Genghis Frog,
Ray Fillet, and more. Where its great that
alot of these classic character appear on screen
many of them don't look like their source material
counterparts which is kind of a shame.
Now also another thing is the whole new
April in this. She was alright for this
she was written well and well voice acted
and an interesting character in how she is
presented. Now I could have done with out
the whole puking stuff which was just a bit gross
but also I know alot of people complained about
her appearance and I can't say I would complain
about it myself but I am a bit more old school
and do prefer the more classic April with the
short red hair and yellow track suit lol
but this April was fine for this version of the
characters.
Now like I said the movie is pretty great
it was a lil bit funny and a lil bit weird
but like I said it also nice message about
family and acceptance and finding a place
where you feel like you belong in the world.
The animation was very nice and smooth
and the artistic style of the movie
where it all looks like it is sketched
and painted to have that more comic book
look and feel kinda reminded me of
how the Spider-Verse movies look.
but the voice acting and the music
as well as the many references are
really nicely done.
I feel the ending of the movie tho
is a bit strange where they took it
but over all I thought it was great
and if you are a Turtle fan then I
would probably recommend it.
also there is a mid credit sequence
that is interesting and kinda sets
up a possible sequel.
Crazy how some of the best animated movies of the year didn't even come from Disney or Dreamworks, y'know, the two companies famous for their animated films.
It was such a stupid impulsive idea to make this animation that I seriously thought I would make it in three days 💀 (of course I didn’t do it in 3 days)
I imagine this frequently, might as well animate it.Not me animating for the first time without knowing shit about even the basics 💀
Based of this post of cass apocalyptic series made by the dude the myth the legend @somerandomdudelmao . You have inspired me to make my first ever animation thingie :]]
Of course with our viewing of
the New Ninja Turtles movie there
was collectable goodies!! They had cups and
buckets and I was told they had lil
Ninja Turtle Plushies but when we went
to see the movie I didn't see any Plushies
maybe they sold out of them over the weekend?
so just picked up the cup and bucket
The buckets of course were metal and
embossed/stamped out ones that we
gotten before.
The bucket is very similar to
all the other ones we have been
getting.
on the Front or at least
what I call the front
you have The Movies title
and logo and it has this
brick wall background that
is really nice and has this
look of Graffiti spray painted
on it, I feel like this is
going for a real urban
New York look to it.
on the back it has the I guess
the "Turtle Tags" as they
would look on a wall
with all 4 Turtles
Leo, Donnie, Raph and
Mikey. The bucket is
very nice on its outward
appearance but the thing
that really sets this bucket
apart from the others
is that it has stuff on the
inside as well!!
I know these aren't the best pictures
but its just a glimpse of the inside
of the bucket. I was very impressed
by this being all the other buckets
are just a single solid color
but it was just really cool to have
that on the inside for a change and
I feel it adds so much more to the
over all look and value of the bucket
it makes it different from all the
other ones its a really nice bucket.
as for the cups the cup again is a small one
similar to the ones we got at Sonic 2 and DC Super Pets
it says 12oz on the bottom(which is like 121ml or so?)
its small being it was meant for lil kids.
The cup is of course plastic and on the front it
It has that same brickwall background and on
what I consider the front it has all 4 Turtles on
it and then on the back it has the movie
title and logo with some Graffiti around it
for toppers I believe they had one of
each Turtle but I'm not completely sure
being I specifically asked for a
Michelangelo
but as always I'm happy with this
its a same I missed the plush if there
was anyway but I'm happy with the
cup and bucket.
Ok SO I disappeared because when I saw this prompt I wanted to finish this. Now to try and catch up, or at least continue TMayNT. If anyone would like to guess at themes and motifs I'd love to hear it because I remember putting a lot of thought into the initial concept ^^
More info about the creation of the video below:
So a lot of this isn't up to my personal standards BUT I'm proud of it because:
I have started dozens of projects like this and almost never finished any. I am fighting my perfectionism and sporadic ADHD motivation. I believe I conceptualised this at the end of 2022 or early 2023 and reanimated/redrew the storyboard at least 3 times over the first half of 2023 before it was abandoned. Until now. Also I've never had a "camera" to play with before so I'm very inexperience with that.
It's a bit inconsistent:
1. because it was partially an experiment using Moho. It was my first time properly using it and I definitely need to look at some tutorials because I' strong armed it and made things a lot harder than I'm pretty sure I am not making the most of the features lol. Its also a vector program, which I'm not used to.
2. because I redrew the storyboard multiple times (and kept various aspects of it for the final ver) and then redrew it a final time after like a year.
So I credited those artists for popularising the meme but I actually have no idea where specifically I got the idea. I do not remember referencing any other "Is It Cold Outside" memes. I'm like 99% sure I sat down and wrote out a plan/script in word but it's possible I was inspired by or referenced someone specific and don't remember, so if anything is ringing any familiar bells please let me know.
I can't find the original sped up audio used in these memes but I believe this was the original original:

(If anyone can tell me more info about the audio used in this meme, let me know).
Storyboarded on Clip Studio, animated on Moho, minor editing on Kdenlive.
