cute game! the big spreadsheet im pulling a lot of my old game choices from is a whole ordeal of probably too many games in release order but this one got a translation after we'd progressed past the point of its initial release, so i doubled back for it, and i was happy to have done so

its just really charming! its a big game but its design is pretty forward thinking in just how propulsively it pulls you through it, full of a surprising variety of setpieces and fun mechanical gimmicks and a level of attention giving to set aside cute character moments for the party that many of its contemporaries would be chasing for years afterwards. it feels like a significant bit of genre history that its really cool to see filled in

that said i will always be a little mad about them introducing a girl with a big axe by talking about her incredible physical strength who spends approximately zero percent of the game being your strongest physical attacker by any notable margin before getting totally outclassed

Back cover of the 7/1993 issue of Newtype features an ad for Hudson Soft JRPG Funn Kabukiden: Tengai Makyo AKA Far East of Eden for the PC Engine CD-ROM. Illustrated by Yoshiteru Tsujino AKA Torijiro Tsujino, who was the character designer for the Tengai Makai series of games by Hudson.

(Something that always made me laugh in "Kabuki Klash" (or Tengai Makyo Shinden) is that one of strongest character in the game (and in fact everything related to the Tengai Makyo saga) is a "Monkey" hahahaha , an incredibly powerful Ape capable of destroying the warriors more powerful with its disgustingly nefarious attacks (one of these capable of removing 70% of the rival's life bar if it arrives complete) many of them taken directly from some "Street Fighter 2" characters. Otra de mis sagas favoritas de la vida es "Tengai Makyo". Es un cariño bien especial ya que mi amor por está comenzó gracias al Tengai Makyo Shinden (conocido en occidente como Kabuki Klash) , con dos buenos amigos pasamos muchas tardes y noches aplicando a este maravilloso juego que estaba en el romset de Neo-Geo. Después con el tiempo , llegó el momento de conocer mucho más de la saga , saber más de Ziria , Tsunade y Orochimaru y como no saber del mítico Manjimaru Sengoku y su grupo de amigotes en el había uno que brillaba con luz propia , Kabuki Danjyuro. Este último protagonizando muchos juegos para la consola PC Engine , donde tengo que destacar el de pelea mano a mano " Kabuki Ittouryodan" y el rpg "Fuun Kabuki den" verdaderas joyitas de aquel entonces. Originally released in July of 2008, this PC-Engine compilation collects 4 Tengai Makyō games: Ziria, the first in the series; Manjimaru, the superior-in-every-way sequel; Fuun Kabuki Den, the Kabuki Danjuro-centric spinoff; and Kabuki Ittōryōdan, one of the 2D fighters (also Kabuki-centric, in case you couldn’t tell).  Tengai Makyō Collection is part of Hudson Soft’s PC-Engine Best Collection. Other compilations in the Best Collection series include Star Soldier and Galaxy Fraulein (which includes Ginga Fukei Densetsu Sapphire).
