My fancast for if there's ever a Fiddler On The Roof remake (I don't know if there will be one but I want to make a fancast anyway)
Ok so for Tevye, Jack Black. Is this controversial? Maybe. But he's Jewish and he fits and he can sing.
Tumblr media
Ok so for Motel, I want to cast Logan Lerman. He looks soft, he can be awkward if needed, and I just want an excuse to cast him in another Jewish role.
Tumblr media
Golde, Tevye's wife, should be Robin Weigert. Do I need to justify my choice? I don't think I do. It's a good choice.
Tumblr media
Yente could be Rhea Perlman, she just fits the vibes, idk.
Tumblr media
As just the fiddler that symbolically appears in the movie, Timothee Chalamet. He can dance and he isn't actually seen much in the movie so why not. I wouldn't show his face though, just his silhouette as they do for a majority of the original movie anyway. (He can also voice over Miracle of Miracles for Logan Lerman if need be.)
Tumblr media
Perchik can be Milo Manheim because you know what, I need that guy in some Jewish roles and why not.
Tumblr media
Chava can be played by Odeya Rush, Odeya could be good in that role I think.
Tumblr media
Joey King can be Hodel. I have no justification for this other than running out of young Jewish actresses and also she is a good actress when she needs to be.
Tumblr media
Swell Ariel Or can be Tzeitel. She was great in Beauty Queen Of Jerusalem and I think that she would fit the role of Tzeitel well.
Tumblr media
Tanner Buchanan can be Fyedka because he looks like he could be him, I don't actually know much about this actor sorry.
Tumblr media
Please add your own suggestions for other characters or even instead of some of my suggestions! I'm curious to see what you think.

anyways now that I'm talking about fiddler on the roof can we talk about the fact that tevye is truly the most charming man in all musical theatre. ik most people take charming in a romantic sense and then are like "no that's jack kelly" "no that's orpheus" WRONG!!!
tevye cares endlessly about his daughters. tevye teases his wife but would do anything for her and would do anything to be loved by her. tevye wants the very best for the people he loves. tevye is deeply embedded as a person in his faith. tevye serves his community. tevye makes the best of what he has. tevye questions authority and values others opinions. tevye is open minded. tevye does what he believes is best for his family. tevye complains, but never gives up. tevye is flawed, and still has prejudices.
TEVYE IS REAL AND WELL ROUNDED

Chaim Topol (9.9.1935 - 9.3.2023)
"What kind of advice can I give [young performers]? Someone sent me a quote that persistence wins. I have to disagree with this. It is an important ingredient. I don't think that there are any rules. Be persistent, be talented, work hard, but ninety-five percent is luck - so be lucky!"
#topol#chaim topol#haym topol#may his memory be a blessing#death ment tw#icons#fiddler on the roof#tevye#flash gordon#follow me#for your eyes only#galileo#american film theater#the house on garibaldi street#the winds of war#tales of the unexpected#war and remembrance#cast a giant shadow#is there a musical theatre lead more closely identified with a single performer than Tevye? i don't think so#whilst his screen career was comparatively modest‚ there's no doubt of the influence Topol had nor the impact of his version of Fiddler#his later work as a character actor on tv and film is full of small but superbly realised parts‚ but he was always and remained primarily a#stage actor. Fiddler was the first musical I ever loved and Topol's the first performance I ever heard (I still have the ost in fairly#heavy rotation). the sheer range of emotion and performance he goes through not just in the play but sometimes in one song#i mean If I were a Rich Man is a sort of pop culture behemoth that has a life beyond the play‚ but if you listen to it it's a man#expressing his wants and desires and then redefining them further and further to the realisation that his faith is most important to him#and that really he knows his faith is not predicated on any kind of wealth; and Topol sells every moment‚ the gradual adjustment from#flights of fancy and wild dreams of riches‚ to more modest comforts for his family and loved ones‚ to finally a simple wish to spend less#time working and more in devotion to g-d. it's a beautiful performance by a beautiful performer and one of the true greats of the stage

Tevye is a poor milkman, but he knows it’s no shame to be poor. He’s got five daughters to marry off, and he’d better start working on it before his wife chews his ear off.
Lively bulghars and sprightly freylakhs; where would we be without our klezmorim? A fixture of the town, there they are playing joyous music at every wedding and bar mitzvah.

"Little Bird, Little Chavaleh
You were always such a pretty little thing
Everybody's favorite child"
Damn Tevye you're outwardly admitting you have a favorite child AND implying that she's also your wife's favorite child AND she's the child you're disowning? Bold move buddy
