Instead of Shen Jiu being popped out of existence or his soul being swiched and ending up on Shen Yuan's body or even being stuck in his world as a ghost, Shen Jiu is actually placed as the system. And as such he must find a way to diverge the plot of PIDW so that the soon to be emperor Luo Binghe doesnt gouge out everything and everyone in his wake.

He utterly hates it, he is in shambles when his best chance is a run of the mill fanboy from the novel that has become sentient enough to warp reality and time. He hates the fact that his soul is now tied to Luo Binghe in technical terms, he hates he has to rewind time each and every single time Shen Yuan fucks it up with his horrid communication skills, he hates the way the player's modern lenguage has rubbed him off past those rewinds, he loathes the fac that he can`t even be himself and has to act like some sort of caricature in order for Shen Yuan to not notice who is derailing his life, and his own as well.

He hates the fact that its his fault the things have become more messed up.

But he is fine, he is fine knowing that he can put these new BL novel to rest and and let Yueqi and the sect live for more than what fate deemed them to be.

He is thankful, though not outwardly, that Shen Yuan was kind where he would never be.

Man, hearing about the season 1 days of miraculous makes remember when we first saw the leaks of the season and first the art for the pearls and stone, Alya with the fox (and how everyone called her Volpina), and Chloe with the bee. Man, those were days. I also remember how everyone was thinking Gabriel had the peacock and Emilie had the butterfly originally. I even remember when we first got that one image of Pixie Girl, and everyone thought she was a teenage Emilie with the butterfly miraculous that was going to appear in a flashback episode 😆. Ah, I miss those days.

Gosh so much is taking me back.

I remember expanded Square chaos. I remember there were theories of Ladybug and "Volpina"/Rena being rivals/antagonists to each other as a reversal of them being best friends + clearly Marinette wouldn't trust the new Fox (which I was never crazy about, especially as you typically didn't see that for Adrien and Nino, felt like turning girls against each other); and QB and LB were going be friendly. And there were speculated shenanigans for QB and RR, I think there was also a small rise of Chloya and the idea that maybe they'd have their own Square going.

Some I didn't see, like the theory that Pixie was teen Emilie, but I did see that she was planned for the NY Special, and there were the plans for the Shanghai Special.

I really did theorize that Marinette and Adrien were going to get their own exclusive Specials to be focused on, with Marinette in Shanghai and Adrien in NY and he for sure was going to work with Pixie.

Another theory I had was where Fu was going to become Marinette's mentor, Gabriel was going to be Adrien's, cause I did like the idea that he had the Peafowl, not Emilie. And I thought this concept art of Duusu was her being furious with Gabriel literally shutting her away.

And something was going to go down and this "Paon" was going to steal the Peafowl from Gabriel.

Or she already did and what Gabriel had was a fake.

And potentially that HM was who Gabriel and Emilie feared and that's why Adrien wasn't allowed out.

Those really were the days. The theories were so fun. And much of it I think was more interesting than what we got.

And it was a time of aus. I don't know how many aus are being done for ML these days, I think most are salt fics now, but that was the time to have fun, do different spins. Doing kwami swaps. Life swaps. Cowboy au.

You could get creative with akumas, like, I remember finding old fics that swapped Marientte with Bridgette and trapped her in a different reality/timeline, and I kinda wish the Paris Special did that. Off topic, but I feel the Paris Special should've gone full comedy and full reversal for characters. And that we actually got to see this different Paris.

Like, could you imagine Marinette and Emonette swapping places, either through akuma or Bunnyx, and Marinette's scrambling trying to figure out how to get back and how to keep going in this topsy turvy world where apparently Ladybug is a villain? "Hawk Moth" is a good guy? Wtf is Chat wearing? Wtf happened to Adrien.

And you got Emonette just needing shades cause this world is so bright and sunny and why do these people keep talking to her? Tf happened to Adrien, was he a poser this whole time? HM's a villain? But of course he's a bad villain just like he's a bad hero. And ooooh she's going to have so much fun with Chloe... and who tf is this Lila and what does she think she's doing picking a fight with Emonette. Oh, she's adding her to her list...

And you could add to it if kwamis were also kinda reversed.

Emonette stuck with canon Tikki trying to get her Marinette back, but also trying to rein in Emonette, try to be that voice of reason and her consciousness, and oh, she's dumping all of Chloe's things down the toilet... she's got her work cut out for her.

Meanwhile Special Tikki is more "pure luck" and is more chaotic and sporadic, she's not outright malicious, but she's just rolling with that neutralness of luck, it having good and bad and it comes down to karma and your own actions. She's just here to sit and watch the consequences play out. Emonette was kinda funny though she was predictable in her karma as her negative actions fed negative consequences. But man, this Marinette is freaking hilarious. Tikki is constantly eating popcorn, enjoying the show cause she never knows what she's going to get with this well meaning if all over the place Marinette.

a theory that the original project shadow, who lived aboard the ark with maria and gerald, was actually sonic. shadow was created later on earth by gerald specifically to end the world after the raid occurred and maria was killed.

sonic is metal sonic roboticised:

the theory that in the bad future of sonic cd, eggman managed to roboticize sonic into metal sonic. eggman then sends metal sonic back to aid his past self in the fight, but the butterfly effect now causes sonic to win, which leaves metal sonic stranded in the past.

taking a page from the sonic and the chaos force theory, this timeline acts as a franchise ending final game for the sonic series- where it’s revealed that the chaos force has been wanting to break free from their entrapment in the emeralds by searching for a proper host… who happens to be a hedgehog we all know and love. acting as sonic’s final adventure, this “au” explores the mythos and lore of the emeralds and connected deities and historical mobian figures while the race to stop the final apocalypse is on.

a fan game i like to think about taking place between sonic rivals and sonic generations. it’s a silver the hedgehog solo game that focuses on silver being stuck in a time loop caused by ancient technology on the mysterious Polaris island. silver’s goal is to stop a shooting star from hitting the island and destroying the world, as well as uncovering the mysteries the island holds…

How much did IDWs transformers comics shape your AU?

Quite a bit! the comics (mostly idw but dreamwave deserves their spot too) have influenced a lot of tf stuff lol—for better or worse they’ve basically built the foundation of the lore for everything that’s followed.

I respect the comics a lot for the things they got started and tried to tackle, but unfortunately never completed, probably due to editorial, censorship, or any number of things. I respect the people who worked on them even more! that being said, outside of chaos theory and IDW2’s shattered glass 1 (and some other minor characterizations across different continuities) I can’t say the comics are going to have a super huge impact on where I take things and what I want to do with them. I can point to a billion other things that had a really powerful influence!

Hello! So, I had a dream in which instead of Megatron it was Optimus/Orion who joined the Lost Light. And I’ve been thinking about it... how different would everything turn out? Megatron staying on Cybertron and confronting decepticons (because I believe he would have joined the autobots in this AU?? too) and maybe even going to Earth along with Prowl, Arcee and co, his conflict with Starscream (and Windblade?), his conflict with humans after AHM (awkwaaaard), trying to redeem himself but kind of failing (like remember Optimus annexing the Earth?).

And Orion (who may or may not become a co-captain) dealing with his deeds (because he, too, directly or indirectly killed a lot of people), Brainstorm maybe actually trying to kill him instead of Megatron, Rodimus vs. Optimus, Getaway’s conflict with him (he (believed) that he was “worthy” of the Matrix, after all).

There’s just so much that can be explored!

first off, you guys continue to have way cooler dreams than me, and i continue to be jealous.

second of all, i get that you probably meant this from an in-universe perspective, but my brain immediately jumps to 'what if Megatron was in exRiD and Orion was in MTMTE/LL', which tbh is something i have thought about before, haha. the way the storylines on Cybertron vs the LL go is so tied not just to in-universe plot events but also the genres those comics are in and the approaches they take, it's hard for me to imagine without considering that element.

some not-very-connected thoughts i have, given all the above:

barber is a loooot less sentimental than jro about many TF characters. i don't say this as a value judgement, just an observation. in particular, his approach to OP as a Big Iconic Character TM in exRiD is to make OP central to the lives of other characters and explore his impact on them, rather than necessarily making OP a very conventional protagonist. which definitely fits with a ton of what you bring up here, and ESPECIALLY the stuff re: humans on Earth if Megatron was there, rather than off in space. the entire element of what atrocities Megatron committed during the war mostly being towards non-cybertronians by numbers that gets brought up in EC becomes a lot less hypothetical and lot more immediate with Megatron on Earth. i think that's a storyline for Megatron that would have a very ambiguous tone and be a lot more about how other characters feel about him than in MTMTE/LL, where much of the focus comes from his perspective more directly.

i think megatron-prowl would have been a FASCINATING parallel in this context btw. AND megatron-arcee. honestly, i think megatron would have fit into exRiD surprisingly well thematically. arcee, prowl and megatron in IDW all represent different questions about surprisingly similar themes IMO: culpability, change, agency over your circumstances and actions, and exploitation vs. being explioited. and prowl-megatron especially is very personal, and really brings into focus the 'war left every side with dirty bullshit to deal with', versus arcee having been largely uninvovlved and having a very different outsider perspective, so.

by contrast i feel somewhat less enthusiastic about OP in the LL? partly because I am not sure jro is great at committing to IDW OP as flawed. i won't get too into it here because one day i really want to write meta about it, but the backstory jro fleshed out for OP (the 'one good hero cop' stuff we see first in Chaos Theory and then in Shadowplay, etc) has always been one of the weaker parts of phase two for me. also, I don't think OP fits as well into the themes of MTMTE/LL as megs does for exRiD… there's a lot about what it means to make significance in your life when you have become insignificant, but OP never actually becomes insignificant in IDW. he sort of… tries to, and the issue he has is that he fails. imo anyway.

still, there's definitely some interesting possibilities. for a start, the rodimus-OP stuff would be WILD. the chance to really address some of that Autocracy stuff is so tantalizing, and something there was just never room for anywhere else. likewise the Getaway stuff you mention, especially regarding the MTO subtext coming full bore with the guy who approved that for the autobots right there. OP is not just the guy who has the matrix, he's ALSO the guy who approved the program which created getaway AND the guy who presumably approved it being so… you know. awful and a war crime and all that. (i would totally love a version of events where getaway preys on roddy's insecurities re: OP to depose him, only to turn on roddy himself.)

anyway jkfhjss yeah it's very interesting!! i will say, i didn't mention the starscream-windblade stuff because i genuinely am not sure where i think that would go... mostly because there are kind of two versions of those plots in idw and they have, imo, very different starscreams in particular. barber and scott were kind of telling different stories, especially re: that history with starscream, so... idk.

i think the au i have that is the most like, Out There is the ares au? but i do think that the characterization IS largely fairly recognizable, all the names are just... different. theres also lots of jokes w/ me and my friends that at this point remortal tony is borderline an oc and like,,,, yeah fair enough. i feel like i'm doing at least mostly decently keeping him like, as he would be in that situation, though. guess we'll find out tho whoops.

and also like,,,, again, when i do oc stuff, i wanna do oc stuff, yknow? like, i wanna do it with my characters. with my worlds. i dont wanna just... write an au thing that gets low-key ooc i wanna do my OWN thing.

but also. my first exposure to 616 canon WAS just reading a bunch of fics and getting really really confused about "all these weird aus" because i was (and. lbr still am.) a dumbass. like,,,, fic w/ the og-ish 616 team in the mansion like "hey neat!" without realizing. i was reading (616) cw fic like "wow, this is a weird take on that movie! really good though!" and then being confused about why it was written before ca:cw came out. also, i read, like, so much noir fic, and even got into the filtered tag for it, before i realized it WASN'T just a super in-depth collaborative au and instead was, actually, a canon published comic. the two fics that got me into the fandom were a) circles of rust by kerosenesteve, which is a canon-divergent thing that splits off in im1, and space electric by icarus_chained, which is a space au. one that does follow like, the major plotlines mostly, but is still, you know, sci-fi space stuff!

so like. actually i have forgotten where i was going with this but if i want original stuff, i'll fuckin read original stuff. i'll write original stuff. i'll write stuff that has no fandom influence at all (as much as is possible, considering i cut my teeth writing for fandom and that is Still a very large influence on how and why i write) and i've even got a blog for just original fiction stuff that i write (shameless plug, @sorbusscriptor )

but when it's fandom i want? i wanna play what's already there. i wanna read into what already exists. it's not even about the shape of what is there, it's about the void that that shape leaves! its like brownian motion, canon is an iceburg and half the fun is finding out just what's knocking at it underneath the water to get it to be shaped the way it is.

like,,,,, finding a piece of media and filling in the holes, and what isn't said, and what happens inbetween what's happening on-screen, in trying to figure out what's up with the non-pov characters, it's so fun!!!! both when it's something you adore, and when it is a book or movie or show that is. absolute goddamn garbage lmao.

like, i watched Breach with my family a little bit ago (space "horror" movie feat. bruce willis that is shamelessly ripping off like every single other sci-fi movie that exists, that is just,,,, so weird with the plot things it chooses to use, and has so many holes it's practically a net.) and it was just.... so FUN being like "so hey, WHAT the fuck was happening here? why did this happen? why DIDN'T this happen?" because it's such a bad movie. there's an alien parasite some guy brought on the ship and like. it is never explained where tf this thing is from. it's from "the experiments" but like,,,, what does that mean. where did it come from. the guy is asked where tf these things are from and he's like "maybe they exist before time" and bro. WHAT? WHAT DOES THAT MEAN! and like. god its just so bad. everyone is trying to get into an escape pod when like. a) their ship is, uh... either doing a quantum-jump, or going at FTL speed, or, one of the 9 thousand different FTL-mechaincs stolen from various other medias, and im pretty sure the escape pod is not capable of going at that speed, so it sure seems like if that thing ejects Bad Things are gonna happen, and 2, they're like.... 40 fucking days away from the planet they're aiming for WHILE AT warp speed. WHERE DO THEY THINK THEY'RE GONNA GO it's just genuinely. the holes left in this movie are more interesting than the movie itself. and if you look hard enough, every piece of media is like that

That being said you so much as look at any of Bammie’s friends sideways and he will concoct the most elaborate payback and you will suffer.

Don’t forget this boy IS in Slytherin and he is NOT to be trifled with, peasant.

He is typically a people pleaser but Bammie is one of the most ambitious kids in the school. He knows what he wants and he’s gonna go after it and if you’re in his way you’ve got two seconds to move before he forcibly does it for you.

He’s smart, too. So don’t think he can’t.

He’s not as funny as Jackson, but he sure as shit tries. When they get together you either can’t breathe because you’re laughing or you’re eternally in facepalm mode pretending you don’t know them. There’s no in between.

Bammie has great grades. He’s a Slytherin and he’s got shit to do, and he’s not about to let an F get in the way of his dreams.

He’s not insane about it, though like SOME people are YESHEISREFERRINGTOMARKBUTWHATEVER.

He has, on more than one occasion, incurred the wrath of Tuan (I fucking love you if you get this reference btw) by bothering him during exam time. They’ll be in the library, Mark will be hunched over his study notes with coffee in his free hand and ignoring the Earth and everything on it. Jackson will be in the room with in, being smart and actually leaving him alone but studying next to him nonetheless just so he can be close, and he’ll see Bammie creep in out of the corner of his eye.

“Bammie...don’t.”

“Oh, come on, hyung. Look at him. He’s got crazy eyes.”

“They’re cute crazy eyes. Don’t bother him.”

“Come on, it’ll be funny!”

“He’s going to kill you - you know that right?”

Bammie acknowledges this, but he is determined. While Mark is focused solely on the chaos that is his study space Bam will move Jackson so he’s out of Mark’s eyesight and morph himself to look like Jackson. His ‘prank’ is in motion.

He’ll come up behind Mark and practically yank the coffee cup from his hand. This will certainly get Mark’s attention...probably not the kind of attention you want from him though.

Looking as Jackson, Bammie will say, “Kisses MarkiePooh!” and puff his lips out like a fish.

“I will give you literally three seconds to give that back to me.”

“Aw, but Markipooh, you wouldn’t hurt your boyfriend, would you?”

“You think I don’t know what my boyfriend looks like? One.”

“What do you mean? I just wanted a kiss.”

“Three.”

“What? You missed tw--”

Mark has his coffee cup back in his hand and poor Bammie is on his ass turning an odd shade of maroon as the hex forces his features back to normal.

“Good one, baby.” Jackson tells him, knowing Mark is already back on Planet Bananas. “To be fair, I told you not too, punk.”

“Who are you calling punk, half pint!?”

Bam is going to get himself killed via his hyungs one of these days. I’m telling you. That’s basically his school year in a nutshell - trying not to die from pissing them off.

They love the crap out of him though. So he’s safe...most of the time.

Trust me, you want Bammie on your side. For one thing, he’s a great ally to have and not somebody you want for an enemy.

For another, he’ll totally fix that horrid fashion sense of yours.
