Demoengie/shortfuse headcanons!

They go out and drink whiskey to a bar with a bullriding machine and Demo sits in the corner and watches engie absolutely nail bull riding and he's cheering him on like ppl watching football.

Eyelander third wheels them a lot and is absurdly annoying to both of them about their romance. He's like Demo's younger sibling who isn't able to be left behind.

Engie's been working on an eye prosthetic for Demo that let's him see again. It's a secret for his birthday tho so shhhhhhhh.

I think Demo helps carry Engie's work stuff and tool kits around the base when he needs it. Or tries to.

Mrs. Degroot approves of Engie and says he's welcome over anytime he wants, but every time he's there, she just keeps using his achievements against Demo, so he never or rarely goes over bc he feels bad.

“Oh hell no, you’re not getting out of here that easy.”

Demo felt his shoulders bunch to his ears, grimacing as he stopped with one foot out the Engineer’s workshop. He should have known he couldn’t slip like that and then make a break for it; with anyone else, maybe, but Engie wasn’t like the others. He didn’t let things like…this slide.

Sheepishly, he turned around at Engineer’s approach.

“How on earth could you say something like that about yourself?” Engineer demanded.

“Ach,” Demo waved, doing a poor job of acting flippant, mainly do to the fact that his grimace was fighting him like shark. “It’s not big deal lad. Everyone thinks it.” He stuttered for a second, having meant to add about themselves but his constricting throat had betrayed its own truth.

He thought, for a moment, Engie might be angry again. But then that expression softened to something worse, to something deeply saddened.

“Demo,” he said. “Sit down.”

“I’m telling you, it’s not a big-”

“Sit down, partner. I’m going to make you some hot coco.”

He did. While Demo perched on one of the workshop stools, Engineer fished out some milk from the small fridge of his own invention that he kept underneath a side bench. After it’d been heated on the room’s hot plate and deposited into the Demoman’s hands, it remained untouched for a good long while, the man staring down into it as he floundered in misplaced shame and guilt at why he wanted to run in the first place.

Engie didn’t try to make him talk again. A real blessing. The only time he spoke was to gently remind Demo to take a drink before it got cold. He promised it would help.

Eventually, he put one hand over one hand still holding the mug and said, “You’re loved more than you know, Demo. Every one of us.”

Demo stared down into the partially depleted drink. After a moment, he had to squeeze his eye shut, using his sleeve top wipe at his face and pretending it was to get hot chocolate off his lip.

“…Thank you.”

i know you're not the biggest engie fan but how do you feel about short fuse? i think they could be sooo funny like,, dom bottom x dom top is really good, especially the way their different approaches to domming would interact, like demo is kinda bratty but he is trying to be actually be in charge y'know. AND the aftercare would go crazy,, sweetest mushiest aftercare ever

GODDDD YES I actually do like shortfuse very very much. Maybe bc a ton of people who draw it make Demo really hot and that gets me lmao. Dom top/dom bottom is reallyyyy good in general, I think "bratty" is such a good way to describe my Demo tf2 sex characterization but I don't think he usually drops the act. I think he's really good at being someone you want to make shut up (positively, sexually) and I think Engie is good at achieving that.
