After making this post with Bulkhead and Wheeljack, I wanted to try drawing the bots in my colored line art style in hopes the characters would pop a bit more.

Some hours later and this piece is finally done! I personally think the colored lines were a success! But MAN did this take a long time to draw.😩I will either have to just be extra patient when drawing the bots, or will have to start testing out those simplified redesigns ideas I have floating around 😅

Hey sorry for being away for a bit. I have been working on the TFP Decepticons humanformer designes lately so that's been taking a while.

Regardless, just to remind everyone that I am still alive, here's this.

TW: mention of starvation and med stuff!

Knee deep in the transformers autism, I can't help but wonder what would happen if the TFP group was found by like an Autobot ship or something, and then proceed to get put on mandatory sick leave because they're all in varying states of starvation due to low resources, and the team has to cope with suddenly taking a backseat and having to let other Autobots take on the Decepticons after handling it alone for so long.

Like, Optimus is losing his mind because the ship captain and generals keep shooing him out of meetings and telling him to just relax. Ratchet huffing and pouting because the medical staff insist that he stop limiting his Energon intake because he no longer 'needs' to go without to make sure there's enough. Arcee goes stir crazy when she's not allowed to go on patrols and is ordered to focus on recovering. Bumblebee is frazzled when he finds fellow scouts who are all fascinated by him and wanna be friends. Bulkhead has a crisis because if he's not breaking stuff, he's just useless, right?

Bonus points if cybertronians actually have a wide variety of foods, and when poor Op has a near meltdown in the cafeteria because choosing from so many options after only having plain liquid Energon is overwhelming as heck, the humans realize just how rough their bots have had it. Raf and June panicking during the mandatory medical exam when the doctors ordered immediate bed rest and an IV for Ratchet because he restricted his Energon intake so much his systems have started shutting down.

The Autobots being given the equivalent of small hotel rooms on the ship and feeling awkward in the space. Not knowing what to do with their own kitchen, being surprised by the inclusion of personal washracks, and the beds being far too soft after recharging on metal slabs.

Bonus x2 if the bots try to sleep in separate quarters, but the rapid changes leave them stressed and unable to rest. It starts with Bumblebee carrying a yawning Raf up to Ratchet's door and knocking timidly. IV hooked up to his arm, Ratchet sighs when he sees them and ushers the scout in. Then Arcee shows up with Jack in tow. She was just worried about Ratchet, she's just here to check on him!

Sure thing, he says, patting the couch on the side that isn't taken up by a sleepy Bumblebee. Bulkhead finds them cuddling on the couch, and Miko very quickly joins her human friends in curling up on Ratchet's chest. By the time Optimus sheepishly appears, everyone is in a half-asleep daze. That's how they're found the next morning; a medic checking in on Ratchet finds the entire team in a big cuddle pile on the floor in front of the couch. They smile fondly, check on his IV, then leave the exhausted team to rest.

Because Primus knows they've earned it.

Feel free to do something with this idea, I'd actually love to see how others interpret the concept!

i wanted Miko to look more like a scene kid cause her original design weirdly makes her look like she lives at the arcade, not someone who’s aesthetic is centered around music/metalcore(?). Added heavier looking clothes and more greenish tones to match Bulkhead. also, personally i really dont like her hair so i just made it more spikey.

Raf my perfect angel. I like his original design, but for the fun of it i tried making an outfit that communicated more of his interest in RC cars and racing games with more athletic looking clothes (still with a nerdy little polo shirt underneath, so it doesnt look like he does any actual physical activity regularly). Yellow shorts to match Bumblebee.

Jack. jackyboy. i have never seen such boring character design. his outfit says Nothing about who he is. ok anyway- so he’s the more responsible/mature one of the kids, but kind of a loner outside team prime. i gave him more layers —ie the hoodie, bulkier pants and a beanie— to put some distance between him and the rest of the world, and to give him a stronger silhouette so he looks more like the default leader. The beanie is blue to match Arcee and Optimus, with an official looking grey patch on the front (again to give him more authority).

Raf is trying to change Bee's opinion on trimmings, he's showing pictures of trimmings and showing videos of them acting cute. This doesn't change Bee's mind, in fact it solidifies it.

Raf: Look, look Bee! Look it's a contest for trimmings, see how cute some of them look! Curd is my favorite, he's so round! I hope he wins!

Why I think Miko Nakadai is arguably the best human character in TFP

Don't misunderstand, I know Miko was handled haphazardly throughout the series' run. That said, aside from her skipping off into the battlefield, she was actually a great character - and, in my personal opinion, the actual audience surrogate character in TFP.

Now, let me explain.

Although Miko's backstory is told and not shown - a rich daughter who had everything she could ever want, up to and including two pure-breed cats and piano lessons from age three onwards (which, coincidentally, tells us she's brainy despite her antics) - much can be inferred from what snippets of her past we get, along with her interactions with the Autobots. For one, she obviously can't stand most adult supervision, which is likely because of a few things. For one, back home in Japan, Miko would have had to be proper and polite, always restrained, and had to do what she was told. While this is normal (to an extent) in the West, in the East this is etiquette that needs to be obeyed, especially if you're as well off as she is; her actions, specifically in Japan, will reflect on her parents, but to a far lesser extent in America. Thus, when presented with the freedoms of the USA, Miko not only jumps at the chance for an exchange program that will give her the mobility she craves, she also chooses the place that has the least amount of glamor. By extension of choosing to settle in Jasper, Miko's also displaying two other traits: she's not afraid of going to a place vastly different from her home, and she isn't disgusted by a small town with very little monetary value to it.

Secondly, Miko's disregard for authority from adults but deference to the 'Bots teases us with an insecurity - namely, an insecurity that no adult ever gives her a chance to make her own decisions.

Just think about it: All the times Miko's blown off the human adults, it's when they've tried to decide her life for her. Miko has, from what we can see, had her whole life dictated, up to and including those piano lessons. She may be a prodigy at almost everything, but her preferred instrument is the guitar - and yet, she wasn't given lessons in that from the time she was a toddler. Therefore, she feels confined and controlled by the authority of her elders. And so, while Miko may be able to sway Bulkhead into getting her out of detention and consistently slip past the watchful eyes of the 'Bots, it's out of a desperate motivation to control her own life. Now, she does hold too much interest in the battles and getting to watch them, but wouldn't you have that same eagerness if Gundams or Jaegers came to life before your eyes? Yes, she knows their lives are in danger, that they couldn't come home, but there's still a fantastical element to all of this about the Autobots. And it remains so because while she loves them all, Bulkhead is the only one who, while giving her life advice and trying to keep her in check/alive, lets her make her own decisions and take control of her life and her actions.

And that's why she keeps going to the field. That's why she only listens to the reprimands with half an ear and why she recovers so fast from Optimus' near death experiences, as well as Raf's close call with death.

And that's why Miko's world shatters when Bulkhead is left in a half-dead coma from his fight with Hardshell. Because the one person in the universe who gave her freedom and care without deciding her life for her was not just seriously injured, but possibly on death's door.

That's why Miko runs around without a care until the S2 episode "Hurt": because she wants autonomy to decide her life, even if it's stupid choices that could get her killed.

And after "Hurt", we see a new Miko. Yes, she remains gung-ho and fierce, but she stops running onto the battlefield. She takes less enjoyment from the War. Because now, with the reality of war fresh in her mind, she knows the risks and the stakes involved, and she will never take that or her friends for granted anymore. This is further proved when Miko 'sneaks' along for "Chain of Command", but with a twist: she asks Wheeljack if she can come along - and if memory serves, this is the first mission Bulkhead's been on with herself present since the events before "Hurt". Clearly, Miko is still worried about losing Bulkhead - only, this time, she values the words of the 'Bots, and now seeks permission to join a mission, though she wisely asks Wheeljack for this blessing.

This is the beautiful part of her arc, crowned by her battle with Starscream and his Seekers (which is also just straight up awesome.) When she's kicked the afts of everyone, and Starscream tries to intimidate her with his usual "I killed Cliffjumper" speech, Miko's response is this calm, slightly rough, retort:

"Big whoop. I snuffed Hardshell."

In this moment, Miko Nakadai is shown to have grown from an excitable child into an unyielding, but mature, adult warrior. She no longer treats the War and the 'Bots like a game, or a release. She treats them as her friends who she will gladly risk her own life for.

And that, in my opinion, makes her the best human protagonist in all of Transformers: Prime, and Transformers media in general.

As for what I said earlier about her being the true audience surrogate, be honest with yourselves: If any of us were given the chance to meet the Autobots, wouldn't you be just as irrepressible as Miko, as eager to help as she was, and tempted to go to the battlefield to see the action/make sure your 'Bot wasn't going to die? That's what I mean when I say she's the audience surrogate - Miko acts like we would, and learns as we would about the War and the 'Bots if we suddenly came across them.

That's my two cents on Miko, and why she's the human character I respect the most in Transformers...probably of all time. If you liked it, I'm glad; Miko deserves better, and I hope I explained why well.

Crack Dad Unicron idea

Miko: Hey when The One created you guys he just said ”You are the gods of destruction and creation. Good and evil.” He didn't specify which ones you were right?

Unicron: That is correct child.

Miko: So theoretically you could be the creation god?

Unicron: Ha that is preposterous, I have destroyed many worlds and killed many. How could I be anything but the destruction god?

Miko: Well from what I learned from the bots the Cybertronian population never went above 10 million and there's like only a thousand different species on your planet. While here on Earth humans number in the billions and there's like 8 million different species living about. We still haven't discovered them all and keep finding new ones practically every week. So you have created more life, varied life too then Primus did.

Unicron: Well-

Miko: Then when the Cybertronian war broke out Primus didn't interfere at all leading to the near extinction of your species. You guys can't even reproduce to get your numbers back up because Primus designed you so you could only be made by the allspark. Which you guys can't use 90% of the time, this is like a huge design flaw honestly. Even when you were trying to destroy the allspark he still didn't interfere. Optimus had to die because of that. Primus indirectly and directly caused many more deaths than you did.

Miko: And the whole planet eating thing? The only planet you had eaten with life was at the amoeba stage. Everything else we're just dead worlds. Yeah you wanted to consume the galaxy but you didn't and eventually decided to stop trying to do that when you learned about humans. You than are now trying to better your creations to lead them onto the right path. That's more than could be said for your brother.

Miko: Plus you can't have creation without breaking things down. Like plants have to what's the word.. de- dim

Raf: Decompose?

Miko: Yeah that! Plants have to Decompose stuff to live and make many more lives. Things breaking down is an essential part of the ecosystem. Animals then break down them and predators eat them to also break down then when those animals die then the plants break them down. Boom life cycle.

Miko: So from where I'm standing you're the creation God. I won't deny your probably the evil one but hey destruction isn't inherently evil and creation isn't inherently good.

*Unicron is now having an existential crisis*

Autobots: ……

Optimus: (⁠ ;⁠ ⁠‿⁠ ;)

I watched the whole Unicron arc in Transformers: Prime recently and this was all I wanted to draw XDD I always wish more emotion and tears were shown in times like this.

I am also experimenting with their tear color. Originally I headcannoned cybertronian tears to be their bodies coolant, and so I drew it green. But after Breakdowns line "Boo hoo! I'm shedding lubricant!" While fake wiping a single tear away.. it tells me that they CAN cry and that they obviously cry lubricant. Not coolant.

Buuuuut I felt like blood red tears would be more interesting than the standard yellowish color of clean oil. So I went with that and called it a quirky cybertronian thing <XD

I'll likely change the colors when I make their official redesigns. But hey it was fun to draw for this post at least! :}}

Transformers Prime

Guys, you know what's really sad? Optimus Prime never brought back a snowball for Rafael. Justice for Rafael!

Also, I love how abruptly this humorous line came.

*serious tone*

"The conditions are much too extreme, even for we autobots."

*long pause*

"But... I will bring you back a snowball."

In the most deadpan but kind, gentle voice.

We waited the whole 22:13 minutes, but he never did bring one back. We waited the whole 19 episodes later, and Rafael, for all we know... suffered in silence.

I bet if Megatron offered him a snowball, he would switch sides. Kidding... Bumblebee is too cool to ditch him like that.

Also... I know, I know. This is an unusual post for me. I usually post more "serious" topics, writing advice, or progress on my own writing. Well, today I decided to be different. I love too many fandoms.

Can we talk about this Rescue Bots episode (Spellbound) because I need to appreciate how TERRIFYING it is??? Especially considering it's cannon in the Aligned Universe. This is some A+ horror.

Like damn, some of Griffin Rock's technology is more powerful than even the Decepticon's tech.

Can you IMAGINE if those creepy mind-control cell phones were used in TFP?

Legit mind control that effects humans AND Cybertronians?

And it's SO UNSETTLINGLY subtle, too. The victim's voices sound like their normal selves but just SLIGHTLY off. *shutter* The voice actors did such a good job.

Just IMAGINE that in Prime.

I feel like Optimus would probably be immune (because the Matrix of Leadership is goated) but can you imagine the Jasper Trio getting mind-controlled, and all their guardians + Ratchet know SOMETHING is off, but not what? Then, slowly, the mind control spreads to the Bots? Or vice versa, the Bots go first, and the humans are like: "Something's up with my guardian."

Kinda wild that Invasion of the Body Snatchers shit 100% exists in TFP's world. Felt like I needed to acknowledge that.

Is this gonna be my next TFP headcanons post? Feeling inspired.🤔
