Can we talk about this Rescue Bots episode (Spellbound) because I need to appreciate how TERRIFYING it is??? Especially considering it's cannon in the Aligned Universe. This is some A+ horror.
Like damn, some of Griffin Rock's technology is more powerful than even the Decepticon's tech.
Can you IMAGINE if those creepy mind-control cell phones were used in TFP?
Legit mind control that effects humans AND Cybertronians?
And it's SO UNSETTLINGLY subtle, too. The victim's voices sound like their normal selves but just SLIGHTLY off. *shutter* The voice actors did such a good job.
Just IMAGINE that in Prime.
I feel like Optimus would probably be immune (because the Matrix of Leadership is goated) but can you imagine the Jasper Trio getting mind-controlled, and all their guardians + Ratchet know SOMETHING is off, but not what? Then, slowly, the mind control spreads to the Bots? Or vice versa, the Bots go first, and the humans are like: "Something's up with my guardian."
Kinda wild that Invasion of the Body Snatchers shit 100% exists in TFP's world. Felt like I needed to acknowledge that.
Is this gonna be my next TFP headcanons post? Feeling inspired.🤔
#Also the weird garbled sounds the phones make are so creepy? You know something I enjoy about Skywarp's teleportation across different continuities is that it's rarely the same. The mechanics of his teleportation vary in nearly every continuity, and there are different limits to how it works. In G1, for example, it’s portrayed as a sharp purple flash, accompanied by a distortion of time and space, as Skywarp is able to teleport in an instant. Kind of confused why he doesn't use it that much.
The same appears to be the case in both IDW1 and Shattered glass.
In IDW2 it does appear to seem as though Skywarp can create portals to facilitate his teleportation, though this doesn't appear to be a necessity, as he can simply warp without forming a portal. In this continuity, his teleportation is depicted with a golden hue, and it leaves behind a trail of what looks like mystical smoke (or something similar) as he disappears. I kind of like how much he uses his teleportation in this continuity to be a menace not gonna lie.

In Skybound, Skywarp only uses his teleportation once, but it’s a pretty cool twist. Instead of just teleporting to another spot, he creates these mini portals or disks that stay in place. He then reaches through them to mess with Optimus. The teleportation has a green hue here, which makes for a pretty neat iteration of his powers because imagine if he can use it to just steal important weapons or stuff like that without even trying to move. On paper it's less riskier than actually teleporting there himself. And funnier ngl.

Then there’s Earthspark, where his- or her teleportation is really something..... In this version, her teleportation is ridiculously fast, almost like lightning itself. The whole thing happens so quickly that it looks like she literally transforms into lightning, streaking across the space with this red glow. It’s almost like she’s not even teleporting in the traditional sense; she’s just zipping through reality so fast that she becomes a bolt of lightning, visually it looks pretty great.
But at the same time something I love about giving a charecter a pretty overpowered ability like this is as usual it usually comes with a fair share of drawbacks. Or rules that pertain how it functions.
In the Aligned Continuity, or the pre canon TFP novels, Skywarp’s teleportation has this limitation. He has to plan out his destination at least five seconds before jumping, or else he could end up teleporting somewhere completely random, which could be pretty disastrous according to him. Starscream took advantage of this weakness to set him up,which ended up getting him killed. This version of Skywarp’s ability really relies on him being able to think ahead and stay grounded, because if he tries to teleport on the fly, he’s basically gambling with his own life

However, other continuities don’t seem to have this same limitation. For instance, in Earthspark, Skywarp is shown teleporting randomly to different locations within the span of just a second. Her limitation in this version, though, is that she can’t warp through solid objects, which means if she's trapped in a room with no way out—she’s effectively cornered.
Then there's IDW1 Skywarp—though I wouldn’t really call this a limitation- as this happened due to an incident rather than it always being inherently present, but when he gets stabbed by Arcee during a jump, he loses control over his physical form. He essentially becomes incorporeal, existing almost like a ghost, and has to struggle to keep himself anchored in reality. Messing with space time kind of does that I suppose.

IDW2 Skywarp went through something somewhat similar. He attempted to teleport all the way to Cybertron after he was banished, but ended up getting caught in unspace, where he was trapped for thousands of years. He eventually managed to latch onto Jumpstream and escape, only to be thrown right back into unspace in the end, low-key karma since he was pretty much just changing allegiances on merry whim just to have fun(valid), but also sucks for him. Honestly, a miracle he didn't completely lose his mind after all that time alone- then again he probably did. Unspace was to my knowledge mostly accessible by teleporters such as Skywarp and Jumpstream in this continuity.
So, the moral of the story is—teleportation is fun, but also kind of sucks, at least for Skywarp. Seriously, why are G1 and Earthspark the only shows where he actually gets to teleport? It’s literally in his name—just let him teleport already, I beg of you!

My biggest pet peeve in Transformers media and fanfiction sometimes is that Transformers aren't treated as aliens. They are referred to as aliens, they obviously are aliens, but they never feel like they are aliens because they are always written or seen as having all human mannerisms or features usually. Human posture, human noses, human mannerisms, humanoids...
What about TFA's cat noses or TFP's helm noses? One of the reasons I think those two shows have peak designs is because they have this lack of uncanniness to humans design wise. I'm not looking at a human being as a robot, I'm looking at an alien robot, ones that have claws, ones that have different body types that blend with their vehicle modes, ones with horrific mutilations and designs impossible by human standards. I love seeing that type of stuff in Transformers because to me, it makes them feel alien without completely changing the premises of similarities to where we can't compare their culture or likeness to humans. The films (mostly 1 and 2) showed off this as well.
Another thing I really would like to see in Transformers media is non-human interactive qualities. What do I mean by that? One thing I've noticed is aside from techno-organic species, regular Cybertronians do have a few qualities found in animals. Engine humming I believe was once used as a form of purring in the films and in some of the cartoons. Humans can't purr; cats can, and that small detail is always interesting to come across because it's like "wow, they have this feature that shows off a trait found in Cybertronians. That is so cool." You have them with multiple voice boxes for mechanical, natural, and human-like tones which is also an animal trait. Bumblebee is self-explanatory in most universes being able to still make sounds yet not talk. They have sensors across their body that don't act like the basic human receptors. Most animals can do more than just feel through certain points of their bodies. They can taste, smell, or even hear a hundred times better than a human being throughout various body parts, and Transformers have been hinted to have this ability too, especially through their servos. It's stuff like this that expands upon their existence as aliens.
They have extreme durability, their body morphs to extremes and can also double as a moving weapon (most obvious of course), some of them can make ungodly roars and creature-like noises to warn or show their threatening demeanor (Megatron's dinosaur-like growling), some can have two rows of teeth (a flat base in front and fangs hidden behind), and some of them have mimicking animal-like features (Starscream's bird-shaped feet with visible expansion the same as organic foot padding with similar distributive weight physics in a few universes) despite having no beast mode. There's probably more I can't think of on the top of my head in canon, but all those things are not heavily used as they should be to make them feel alien. They can still hold some relation to the humans they interact with, but I think a lot of Transformers are more than just metal "humans", you know?
Depending on the universe in fanfiction and who you encounter who writes it or not, you have several things that are always cool to see. They have to sparkbond (merging of hearts) above everything else to create a sparkling's life force with interface as just the extra for physical coding features. I've seen people use the non-canon heat cycles which are, of course, our fandom way of making a type of breeding euphemism akin to an animal's cycle. You have the common phrasing of nuzzling, heightened senses, armor and certain parts of the helm acting like fur or ears where it raises and flattens per their mood, and some Transformers have limb dissonance where if necessary, they can convert between bipedal and quadrupedal stances (best example is Bulkhead and Lugnut from TFA who have long arms but short legs and they have the bulky structure where they could possibly run like an animal briefly and the physics of it would work).
So, you have all these different things a common Cybertron most likely would be able to do or have but a human couldn't, and it's never utilized to their full potential. I would like to see people address the nature of Cybertronians as alien and not be afraid to make them alien. I think that's the biggest flaw in our franchise is that everyone is scared of making the Transformers not the humanoid "norm" and getting ridiculed for it. Like, they're aliens, you can make them act however animal-like or completely batshit insane as you want them. You can give them powers, animal-based senses, and behaviors hidden among a human thought process. And technically, you wouldn't be wrong to what they could be as a living creature in the universe by doing so. They aren't humans; they look humanoid, but they aren't us. Why should they have to be in every regard?
Thank you for reading my TED Talk.

I think Optimus is good at deception as well as manipulation because he seems like an honest mech plus his ability to utilize words, to make others listen to him. This is why most bots wouldn’t suspect anything if Optimus could simply weave lies into the truth. And after years of war, he would know how to control his expression so no one would see through his bluffing.
Another thing is guilt tripping which I can’t really explain since it's just the vibe ya know what I mean right? With the the disapointed stare and all
———-
Other headcanon related to pre-war Op:
Tfp:
He is observant then most other would give him credit for. Since they just take him is an ignorant archivist who lives a rather sheltered life under the protection of Alpha Trion. It leads them to let their guard down around him.
IDW
The guy is a cop. He probably have interrogate mech before so he knew how to coax the truth out of a bot. And he also do infiltrating mission right? Like being undercover to investigate a gang or smt. So he might also know about acting.
TfOne:
He is good at reading mech and using it the way he sees fit. For example, the archive chasing scene with him convincing the guard to play his game. Also, he uses Sentinel as bait to persuade Dee to find the Matrix with him. Not to metion the speech he give to the cogless miners at the end of the movies

So,
consider this… SR-71 Blackbird…
but it’s Soundwave

has anyone thought of this before? I mean it’s a SPY plane. Flies faster than the speed of SOUND. Match those 2&2 and it makes sense right?
I’m surprised Hasbro haven’t done this yet. I mean they HAVE, but not with Soundwave specifically, (Jetfire in the Bay-films.)
And here we got MQ-9 Reaper Soundwave and Stealth bomber thing Soundwave in Earthspark

All I want is SR-71 Blackbird Soundwave. HASBRO PLEAAAASE
…
Anyways I’ve been thinking about this since I watched tfp, so it’s nice to finally get this idea out there.
also here’s an early concept sketch from 2023.
also, the US military would shit their pants when they find out that their multimillion dollar decommissioned aircraft from 1990 was suddenly flying around like it’s nobody’s business.

In transformers prime, while Ratchet is telling the backstory of Megatron and Optimus, he states that "He grew increasingly concerned about the present corruption in high places and inequality among the masses." Knowing that Prime and rescue bots are in the same universe, there's a big Fat chance that when the rescue bots went into stasis, a rescue team never went on to find them. They were left for dead or just pronounced them as dead since they never came back.
I have always wondered why they were never found or why the prime never sent out a message just for safety measures. My first theory was that maybe they left just when the war started, which is why cybertron hq never responded. But even if this was the case, the new Prime (Optimus) should have sent a message throughout cyebertron and space to help recruit bots to help him fight in the war. This would make the most sense.
In Heatwaves wiki, it says that he was a fireman before becoming a rescue bot. This system sounds pretty odd. And old. It's like it needed a new update. For example, if you were already a fireman, engineer, police man, and doctor, what was the point of becoming a rescue bot? Each field could have just corespond with each other. With this in mind, it would make more sense on why the prime just didn't care the whole 'rescue bot' term. Many bots saw the academy as useless and felt like they weren't needed. I mean, they couldn't even fight. That's probably why the academies were destroyed at the start of the war, and many left their rescue bot status to join the war, and those who didn't just got killed. The rescue bot system sounds pretty old. I say old because they must have created this system for some purpose, but over time, they just weren't necessary anymore. Makes you wonder, how long were they in stasis? Could have they gone is stasis while when being a rescue bot was a new thing? Or when becoming a rescue bot just wasn't seen as useless?
I don't know. It a kids shows, they're not gonna talk about the war. It's probably why the writers decided to make the rescue bots the same universe as transformers prime to better understand their lore.

Reasons Why I Think TFP Jack is Underrated:

Welcome to my organized bullet list of why I think Jack is cool. I used to think he was boring too, but now I think he's the goat and here's why:
-He has Main Character Energy, but he's more snarky than most cliche main characters
In fact, he is a petty king:
-He doesn't wanna be on Team Prime at first, but eventually accepts it...
...He then proceeds to BURN Airachnid's ship to the GROUND with a stupid survival kit for babies
-HE DEFEATED THE ALIEN SPIDER QUEEN WITH NOTHING BUT A LIGHTER AND A POCKET KNIFE, BRO
-HE WAS DONE WITH HER BULLSHIT LOL
-Plus he tricked Silas by pretending to beg for mercy, when really, he was stealing his walkie talkie.
-Jack is boring, BUT the fact that Jack has nothing special about him IS his superpower; Miko has the Apex Armor and her brave personality, Raf has genius level computer smarts, and Jack has PURE SPITE. It's beautiful.
-He has zero skills, but he'll figure out how to defeat his enemies anyway, SOLEY because he's tired and doesn't get paid enough for this shit.
-For example, in one of the Titan Magazine comics, Jack literally kicks Silus in the balls
Evidence:

Iconic✨
Apex armor? Cybertronian technology?
Screw that. How about I KICK you in the balls?l
-A true legend
-He's also a mess though, and I relate so hard
-He's so petty he talked two aliens into helping him cheat at street racing to piss off his classmate
-His romantic subplot is treated like a complete joke, and I love that. Normally, the Main Character✨ is awkward, but gets the girl in the end. Not Jack, though. Nope. He just constantly looks stupid in front of Sierra, nothing ever happens between them, and Arcee is just watching with popcorn as his life falls apart. It's hilarious.
Also, if I'm correct, isn't the last time we see Sierra when she sees Arcee's homoform, and thinks Jack has a girlfriend, and then Jack is like "She's my mom😅." And Sierra's all like: "Your mom looks good in leather😐...on your bike😐😐😐😐..." Maybe I'm wrong, but if that's the case, it's funny. Jack is a simp and it gets him nowhere.
-His sarcasm works perfectly with Arcee's sarcastic attitude.
-Also Tailgate is voiced by Josh Keaton (Jack's voice actor) in the flashbacks, so I headcanon that Jack reminds Arcee of Tailgate, and that's why she has such a soft spot for him.
Tailgate and Arcee's dialogue had the same vibe as her and Jack's
Also, it gives more context to why she was so scared to lose him when Airachnid showed up. It would've literally been like losing Tailgate all over again.
-Jack is Team Prime's designated Good Ideas Guy
It was Jack's idea to hijack the spacebridge to send him to Cybertron
It was also his idea to drain the dark energon out of The Nemesis when it came alive and froze everyone
-I'm probably just projecting, he has generalized anxiety disorder vibes
-I feel like he prefers a comfortable, predictable life because he gets nervous easily
-He's always the first to freak out, and overthink, and Arcee always has to calm him down
-And she's so patient with him it's so sweet😱
-I agree the writing behind his existence is meh, and a lot of the cool stuff about him is probably unintentional, but I don't care, so take that!
Anyway, the moral of the story is:
Jack is just an angry little harmonica boy. Leave him alone. He's trying his best😭
Thank you for coming to my TedTalk.

Knockout and Breakdown are so fricking perfect for each other omfg they’re literally the only reason I’m binging Transformers Prime so diligently like their chemistry is fricking beautiful and perfect because Knockout includes his husband in legit EVERYTHING and in return his husband always has his back and even makes a corny pun when he kidnaps a human kid and I don’t care if they never get confirmed because they’re canon in the comics and that’s enough for me because now I know that every time they’re together onscreen they’re in love and everything in the world is perfect

I know it’s said before but I wanna say it again
in TFP, even before the revolution, young Megatron, or Megatronus as you would call him, was already famous as a gladiator.
Imagine opening your TV one day and the news said “BREAKING NEWS! DWAYNE JOHNSON JUST BURNT DOWB THE WHITE HOUSE!”

Transformers animated is running laps around transformers earth spark.
Both take place after the war kinda ended and now they’re all just dealing with life, but everything earth spark tries to present us with is just done so much better in tfa. Like they literally did two separate episodes on ratchets and Optimus’s PTSD and it’s done so well idk why I don’t hear more about it?
I still like both bc I like seeing the giant war robots adjusting to just being people again, but tfa does it far better. Plus I love when they’re stylized too so no wonder I’m so attached to tfa and tfp.

Okay that does it! I need to address an elephant in the room about something in TFP, Bumblebee and Arcee had two contradictions with their characters! Now, I'm not saying this because I think TFP is overrated and that it's not ATLA or TOH levels of good, I'm saying this because this has been bothering me for so long, don't hate me for this.
Okay, you know episode 6 of Season 1 "Masters & Students" Starscream frees Skyquake from stasis so he can inspire the D-Con troops under his leadership, and of course it ends with Optimus and Bumblebee tussling with him and Bee guts Quake to death like a Thanksgiving turkey.
Bee has just committed murder, now we cut to episode 20 "Partners", where Starscream wants to join the Autobots (Something I still don't know if he was being genuine about) and while Optimus, Bumblebee, and Bulkhead go after Airachnid who has the Immobilizer, Arcee is forced to deal with Starscream who was cuffed by the bots and finds out he murdered Cliffjumper and he proceeds to emotionally toy with her. Arcee is about murder Starscream for killing Cliff until she notices Bee's looking at her with a little sad and scared face.
And I'm going to say that... BUMBLEBEE SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN THE ONE TO GIVE HER THE "NO NO DON'T" FACE! Like no, Bumblebee murdered Skyquake 14 episodes ago, you mean to tell me it's okay for you to kill someone Bee and not Arcee?! This scene puzzled the hell out of me! And then Bumblebee takes a drive by Hypocriteville again, look I really liked the scene where Bumblebee stabs Megatron after all the pain he caused especially to him, that stabbing was extremely satisfying. But what Bumblebee did was basically a revenge kill, something Arcee was basically about to do in "Partners". And the last thing Megatron did to Bee was murdering him before the Omega Lock brought him back.
Speaking of more hypocrisy, let's go to episode 23 "One Shall Fall" Now the episode, a big ol' gut punch to my heart, Bee and Raf's friendship is my favorite and it was hard to watch Bumblebee worry to death about Raf when he got poisoned by dark energon but in the scene where Arcee tries to tell him to cool it after violently punching the wall in anger and slightly frightening Jack and Miko. She tells him to control his emotions, even though back in "Partners" she went after Airachnid all willy-nilly and proceeded to do the same thing later in the episode "Crossfire" because she has beef with Airachnid for killing Tailgate, her first partner before Cliff and back in "Partners" she uncuffed Starscream to fight him out rage when he slipped about being Cliffjumper's killer, that proved to be bad in the end. 🫤
There, I just really needed to get these flaws off my chest.
#tfp#transformers prime#tf prime#bumblebee#arcee#rant#observation#And if she did pop Starscream's cap so much would've been avoided
