you heard the sounds of his arrival; you hurry to him, throw your arms around him and give him his usual welcome home kiss 🥰🥰🥰 but after you pull away though, he grabs you again and gives you another - slightly more aggressive than usual because again he thinks another man is trying to gain your attention 😭

after, he tilts his head towards the flowers, still keeping you in his grasp and asks, "what are those from?" you just look at him all sweetly, and a bit flustered from the kiss yourself, tell him "i got them for you🥹"

aaron's sooo adorably confused. his eyebrows crinkle up, a light blush hits his cheeks, a breathless laugh leaves him and just goes what? why?? and you tell him 🥹 you love and appreciate him, he does so much for you and others, so you just wanted to show him your gratitude. PLUS you add in how he always gets you flowers, so you wanted him to know how it feels. and, this won't be the last time he receives them 🥰

THE WAYYYYYYYY his eyes just soften. he's gazing at you soooo lovingly and is all "sweetheart, you didn't need to do that." you press your lips to his again, and state you wanted to 🥹 hehe aaron's a bit lost for words - a tad overwhelmed and in disbelief of how it's possible to love someone so much - god he loves you. aaron smiles gently, kisses you again and thanks you <33333 that he appreciates the gesture and he's incredibly lucky to have someone like you.

Love love love imposing mc. Always my go to. Yess girl be scary as shit and don't let anyone stop you from striking fear into the hearts of everyone who dares go against you or your loved ones. Helps that they're 6'5 AND wear heels (probably around 2.5-3 inches?), naturally towering over literally everyone.

I also always call them Solstice (Sol for short). This bit of info has nothing to do with my ask honestly, I just love their name and want to share it because I think its pretty.

Besides the fact that being a threat to everyone makes it easier to scare away morons, I like to think they leaned more into the threatening and imposing nature in an irrationally strong fear of losing more people they love.

Like, if they are hated by everyone and don't let anyone close, they won't get attached. They'll just going to die on them anyway. They all always do. They'll leave them once again completely broken and a part of MC is going to die with them too. MC is just gonna make it easier for both of them and make sure you either hate their entire being or are too scared of what they can do, so they won't want to get close. Because gods know MC wants to, they crave to open up and to be understood and to be seen, and so they don't fully trust themself to always keep people away. MC has to make sure that even if their wall finally fully crumbles, no one will be brave and reckless enough to step over the ruins of it.

And then there's Aurynn and Samira who stuck with them for years, by choice or not. And that fact gets them to drop the act way more often, infact it is now rarely even up when they're alone with them, and it honestly kinda scares them. If they're still alive and around, can they finally stop?.. Or will it only make it easier for death to take these two away from them? Or have their actions and words done too much damage by now that even if it wont, they would not even want to know MC? But isn't it what they've wanted? Wouldn't that be for the best of everyone?

They also just kinda get scared and confused when people do something nice for them because of it. I imagine when Samira brought them their favorite food for the first time they've just kinda went "?????????? why would you do that for me".

I think meeting L will send them into absolute confusion honestly. Like, what the fuck do they do now if being absolutely unlikable didn't work? L just gotta push MC a little bit after the initial bite (metaphorical, unfortunately or not) and MC won't bite again. At least not immediately, MC probably kinda goes at it again later but more in a spicy feral kitten type of way.

Can't even image what meeting Nihm will do to them. MC will probably just explode on the spot. Poor thing.

How often do they sleep together?

After their relationship is evolved physically, as often as they can/can get away with it without being seen by the vast majority of Skyhold. Aisling hates sleeping alone in a room, the one thing she won't miss about Skyhold is her room. Before that, a handful of time when circumstances had them with only one bed.

Where do they sleep?

In Skyhold, at first in Cullen's loft. Easier for Aisling to justify being there early morning if she was caught sneaking out by guards/anyone they didn't care sharing their personal life with. Plus: it's smaller, it's more comfy, she actually likes the hole in the roof and falling asleep with the stars twinkling there. I picture that going to sleep in Aisling's room was kind of a step for Cullen (between shiness, boundaries, feeling like he's kinda trespassing, it's too much of a step, worries about feeling trapped in -she just left all windows and doors open without him having to ask-). Aisling's room after they were public and decided to move together, it was just more practical to house both.

How do they prepare to sleep?

Cullen has a very precise routine, which now includes picking Aisling's clothes from the floor where she left them before hopping on the bed. Bickering because she doesn't see the point in folding them and he answers that he'll be the one to laugh the morning she'll have to sneak back to her room without her breeches, because she doesn't know where they are anymore. Helping each other out with whatever complex item of clothing they're wearing. They read, if they haven't seen each other before, there's the mandatory "How was your day?" question.

What do they wear to sleep?

It really depends on the activity they were doing before putting themselves to bed 👀 <<< Stealing from prev. Aisling has a collection of nightgowns that Josephine had prepared to her when she was entrusted in building her a wardrobe fit for an Inquisitor. She never used them. She just hops off anything she's wearing and sleeps in her camisole and underwear, who cares. Or, she sneakily took an old shirt of Cullen that she wears to sleep. He'll discover she did after the Arbor Wilds. Cullen I think has some softer clothes he uses for sleeping only because there are awake clothes and sleep clothes and if he wears outside clothes to bed he'll die and *looks at Aisling just shredding layers and going to sleep and shivers*.

Do they cuddle?

If Cullen doesn't explicitly tell her he doesn't feel like it, Aisling will go for cuddles as soon as he'll lay down beside her. Sit beside her. She's touchy and she's cuddly, she'll always respect a "no", particularly after nightmares she always waits for a "yes" before even touching him. But otherwise yes, as soon as she has a no go, she will cuddle. (she'll cuddle even platonically)

What are their preferred sleep positions?

On their own, Aisling curls into a ball. Cullen I get either on his side, again ready to jump up and get to action... Or listen. I'm a "Cullen sleeping on his belly and hugging a pillow" believer. When he can lay down some walls and relax more, he'll spread. Together? As in the picture above, Aisling is a big spoon. She'll climb his neck and hug him from the back. As above, is she's not clearly told not to, she'll fall asleep while cuddling him. Mainly, they sleep hugged together. Even in full summer if it's hot? She has a foot on his ankle. When Niamh comes around, it's basically a sandwich as depicted above. OH, and the dog sleeps at their feet. Always. Cullen tried to train him not to hop on the bed... With failing results.

How easy do they fall asleep?

For Cullen it's hard. Having her beside helps him, but between nightmares and claustrophobia, it's not the easiest task, for her. Aisling is one of the lucky bastards who can fall asleep anywhere, in any moment of the day. She tends to stay awake at night on purpose, always did so even in the clan, because it's the time when she can be alone, out of her social duties, and recharge batteries. Or if she's particularly enthusiastic about an experiment or nervous for something, she'll have some troubles. Again, she hates sleeping alone also because she uses other people to regulate on that. In the clan it was Radha, when she was little. Now it's Cullen.

Do they toss and turn a lot?

Not if they're not having nightmares.

Do they snore?

I think Cullen will start to snore going on with age. Aisling maybe talks in her sleeps when her dreams are particularly vivid.

Who hogs the blanket?

They're stuck to each other, so no one. If I have to choose, Aisling hates the cold, so it's her.

What do they dream about?

Aisling's dreams are polarized between The Horror and Alice in Wonderland-level of absurdity. When she's particularly stressed, Desperation comes knocking at her door, it's usually dreams of her causing her own demise and all the people she loves abandoning her. Not her first rodeo, tho, she can manage. Otherwise, it's maybe having pickles tea upside down on the ceiling with a ant-eater in a full plate of armour, a cow who's not struggling to hold the saucer and cup with her hooves an axolotl in a frac, Cole and Josephine. She hates pickles and finds tea disgusting, but Josie's looking at her with that looks that means "you can't offend our guests" so she is fought between drinking and not. She looks inside the cup so much that she falls into it, and now she's trapped in a jar of orange jam and can't get out without help, and she *can't* eat all that jam so you see it's really a predicamente and- *wakes up, the next day she proposes to Dorian to levitate a table and chairs to have tea on the ceiling. But not pickle tea.* For Cullen it's memories, and honestly the headcanon of Ali is so good that I'm struggling to picture anything (in a good way that was a great idea, please check it out)

How easily do they wake up?

Aisling: fairly easily, she's a light sleeper. She may pretend not to to steal five more minutes in bed. Cullen less so.

How awake they are afterwards?

Not so much. Aisling is groggy for at least 10 minutes. Ideally, she'd like not to be perceived in that span of time, but living in close quarters with other people kinda makes it hard. She usually pretends to be asleep until she's ready to talk to other people (if you ask her whether she's awake, she'll answer "No I'm not."). Cullen is used to be up and running from years of service. Isn't happy about it. He's grumpier than usual until he's had breakfast. Hates being awakened by other people.

Norgesveldet, Norway at its largest and most powerful is such an interesting topic, and I’d like to take this opportunity to talk more about Norway’s character arch and his standing in Scandinavia during this time. And along this, @95jezzica’s hc that Norway is the oldest out of the Scandis, which I absolutely love.

During the 1200s Norway is at his peak. He is the largest he has ever been, ruling over land far away, a result of his exploration and craftiness at sea. He is involved with an extensive trading network, stretching from his settlements on Greenland, Iceland, the Faeroe Islands, Shetland, Orkney, and the Hebrides, as well as large areas that today belongs to Sweden, with connections to Europe through the Hanseatic League as well as his neighbours. Many of Norway’s territories are inhabited by Norwegian settlers, who all pay taxes to the Norwegian crown, accumulating a fair amount of coin to be spent on buildings and other stately projects. He has the entire North Atlantic under his control. Norway is exporting iron, furs, fish, and fish oil to the rest of Europe. At this time, Norway is the largest nation in Europe measured by land.

At home, Norway has just finished his civil war in 1240, and with a new and stable system in place, he flourishes; the Sagas are written, churches are built, and cities are founded. A sort of government is formed, and a new law is made, establishing a more developed justice system and a more effective military system. Norway was the second kingdom in Europe to be gathered under a common law (after Castille) and establishes diplomatic connections to other countries. The administration of the Norway is solidified and he really takes his shape as a powerful and well-established nation.

Based on the actual year of founding, Norway is the oldest “nation” in Scandinavia, and I want to give Jezz credit here for influencing me towards this hc. Denmark, Sweden, and Norway have all been more or less equal throughout the Viking Age, with some periods where they were in alliances and had more complex relations. Norway was allowed to grow on the basis of Denmark being weaker etc. But we essentially have three nations who grew up together here, similar in age, development, and influence. And we see Norway really grow up through his civil war between 1130 and 1240, coming out stronger as a result. In the 1200s and 1300s he is a genuine powerful nation who has powerful connections and resources.

Then, we get The Plague, The Black Death. Norway is hit a lot harder than Denmark and Sweden. It is almost fatal to him and it nearly kills him, eventually merging his royal family into those of his neighbours, and we see Denmark especially take advantage of the situation to form the Kalmar Union.

And this all makes such an interesting character development for Norway. As a slightly older nation with a rich and proud history, being an equal or maybe even more powerful than his neighbours, at his definite peak, to take such a fall. To end up being stowed away, his existence merely symbolic at times, seeing his future as uncertain and under the total control of others. He falls. He is crippled. And he ends up being tossed around for nearly 500 years before he can finally stand up as an independent nation once more.

It really makes for such an interesting dynamic between the Scandis as well. Both Denmark and Sweden knows what Norway used to be, how powerful and proud he was, and they see what he has been reduced to after the Plague and during the union. Maybe they even start to forget who he used to be. Though sometimes, in certain situations when he is fired up, they can see remnants of the nation he once was.

They are definitely reminded of his past in 1814 and 1905.

I see your tags on the Wocky and Alita art, I would love to hear your thoughts on Alita actually!

I only need one person to show interest in what I have to say for me to talk forever and ever, thank you. HAHA Okay, in seriousness, this won't be as thorough/long as the Klavier post because... there really isn't much to her, but I find it extremely interesting how Alita falls into the same category of witnesses as April May and Dahlia without being — and I mean no offence to her when I say this — stunning? Like, with April and Dahlia, there's a very clear mass appeal to them which most people point out. Contrariwise, Alita's appearance is really only commented on by Trucy, and just glancing at her portrait, you can see that, without her slightly outlandish fashion, she's frankly nothing to write home about.

So why am I discussing this? Surely it's a little reductive to analyse female characters beginning with their appearances? Usually, yes, but that's the thing about this category of witnesses: their pretty faces aren't just pretty faces.

For April and Dahlia, their beauty is part of their arsenal. It functions as both their defence and their weapon of choice; they know how to wield it to bring people under their heel. Alita being ordinarily pretty instead of drop-dead gorgeous deprives her of that weapon and leads you to wonder how she became a mafia heiress to begin with. It also parallels her to Mimi Miney in a way that goes beyond the 'murderous nurse who worked for and killed her awful boss' comparison you get on the surface. Presumably, Alita, like Mimi, only got to where she was because she managed to fool the people around her into believing she was less dangerous than she actually is. Mimi did this by feigning stupidity and inviting people to underestimate her. Alita seems to do this by showing them what they want to see.

When she first meets Apollo and Trucy, Alita stays quiet and spends more time listening to them than she does talking. Once she has a hold on who they are, then she slips into her persona, and I find it interesting how she doesn't even attempt to come across as particularly delicate or lovelorn? Instead she goes for the relatively typical role of a distressed, indulgent loved one earnestly entreating Apollo for help. I'm inclined to say she does this because her read on Apollo makes her realise that he'd likely be exasperated or annoyed by such a person; but it's also almost as if she knows she doesn't have the disposition to pull off that frail, damsel-in-distress archetype and has resigned herself to being ordinary. Like how she looks. The next time she has to reapply her persona, Alita's appearing in court, and again she makes subtle adjustments that best suit her situation. The judge is old, so she takes a chance on expressing her dedication as a wife while balancing her dedication as a righteous citizen, which works. But oddly enough, despite her successes, I don't think Alita is actually good? At donning disguises? Everyone I've seen discuss this case has been able to guess almost immediately that she's the culprit, and maybe we're just prepped by past characters like her that have appeared, but I don't think she's even that convincing in the game.

Both the identities she assumes are risky manoeuvres that happen to fall in her favour, and she's not particularly dedicated to maintaining the front. When she asks Apollo to be Wocky's defence, she admits that marrying him is largely a chance at a more exciting life than some great love story; Plum Kitaki straight up says that there's a darkness in Alita she doesn't like, despite how docile Alita behaves in front of her; and Wocky has moments where he slips up and calls her things like, "imposter" and "fallen angel", implying that at least subconsciously, he knows she's not what she makes herself out to be. Even her general mannerisms don't greatly differ between her actual self and the mask who's blunt her claws — nothing is ever overtly coy or cutesy — and when Apollo brings up the fact she was Wocky's nurse, she drops the facade almost immediately. There's no waffling, no, "Whatever do you mean?"s or, "You're scaring me"s, just the statement, "I don't know what you mean by 'meaning', Mr. Justice!" delivered in a sudden cool, frosted steeliness.

And I think that steel is what really makes her different.

See, the other women are all driven to crime by some defining trait in themselves caused by their circumstances. For Dahlia, it's her desperate need to be free of the Fey clan; for Mimi, it's grief over her sister's unjust death; and for April, it's her fear of Redd White. You don't really get that with Alita. Instead of there being something dark in her life that leads her down this path, she just seems... tired. Tired of being "pretty enough" but not "gorgeous", tired of being the obedient nurse to the corrupt doctor, tired of being ordinary. There's no predatory external force pushing her into a corner, there's no abusive family beliefs pinning her down. There's just an ordinary life, lived dull and ordinarily, and she had had enough. So what does this girl, who's tired and ordinary in every way except the steel that lines her spine, do to get out of this?

She gambles.

Marrying into the mafia was a gamble, seeking Apollo as council was a gamble, shooting Dr. Meraktis was a gamble. Every decision she's made since she met Wocky has been a series of high-stakes gambles that leave her life on the line all so she won't be second-best anymore. This time, she was going to be the one on top. No matter what.

... And I'm sorry for loving evil women, but girlboss?? Girlboss???

I've heard people say they're disappointed that her "breakdown" is just an extension of her usual damage sprite, but it's honestly one of my favourite "breakdowns" in the series ever? Just because it isn't really one? Everything Alita has done up till now has been reckless, calculated risk, of course being convicted for murder is no different than losing in any other aspect of her life. Of course you're not going to get more than her damaged sprite, because this doesn't warrant a more dramatic reaction. She's lived this whole time knowing it could all come crashing down around her, and it finally did.

She made a bad bet. You caught her. Oh well.

The frosted girl of steel, standing tall to the very end. It's kind of sad that, even after all that, she's still seen as only second-best, incomparable to mimi, dahlia or any of the other women who've stood in her place.

As soon as we start talking about “birth” etc. in the nation!verse it suddenly becomes very lore heavy, so I’ll share my thoughts and ideas about this subject first ✨

For me, the nations are not human. They are human-like entities, but first and foremost they are countries/nations and do not have parents or biological relations in the same way humans do. Which is why it becomes important to know how nations irl are formed from a political and sociological point of view. Nations are can appear differently: a group of people with a common social and cultural identity; or as a state/formation of state that encompass a group of people under a common law. The actual birth of nations can be a complicated subject irl, but in the nation!verse it looks like the birth of nations are focused around when we start to see a common identity form – together with an organisation of a state. The status of the political organisation and how well the country operates likely contributes to the country’s growth physically.

With this definition of a nation in mind, we can take a look at historical sources and events to try to see the formation of the nation that is Norway. We know that Norway was formed as a nation in 871, under the king/chieftain Harald Hårfagre, but the Norwegian identity could’ve existed before this. Even though Norway was made up of several smaller “kingdoms” with their own identities, there was still something that separated them from the Danes and Swedes. This separation exists clearly in Snorre’s sagas from the 1200s, and we also see it with certainty as early as in Ottar’s stories from the 890s. Certain areas (like Trøndelag) likely had their own laws and way of govern from the migration or Merovingian period (4-600s) and still keeps their own smaller identity today – though still being primarily Norwegian of course.

I think Norway popped into existence around the 600s, but did not get the “status” of a fully formed nation until the early 800s, with certain periods of more growth parallel with the more extensive organisation of state during the 1000s especially. Norway hits another growth-spurt in the 1200s, before his stagnation in the late 1300s due to the effects of the Black Death.

The first other nations Norway probably interacted with would obviously be Denmark and Sweden – and Scotland and England, as Norway has always been oriented more towards the west and across the ocean.

Ok, what gifts do the boys give to Mojo for father's day? I can imagine Mojo expects, nay, DEMANDS recognition for it and the boys being the boys im sure they all go about it in a unique way x3

OOOOOOOH OMG THIS IS MAKING ME THINK OF WHAT MOJO'S FIRST FATHERS DAY WOULD BE LIKE OOUUUUGH 🥺💖🥺💖🥺💖🥺💖 I feel like in the days leading up to it he'd be dropping a lot of not-so-subtle hints abt how important a holiday it is and how he'd be disappointed if he didn't recieve anything, but just in case, I'd get the boys alone and be like "okay listen you have to get your dad something or he's going to be moping about it the rest of the year" 😂 I'd give them a few small pointers, like how it can be something they make or something they buy (or more likely steal) as long as it's a gift they put thought and heart into 🥺💖 Maybe I'd try to inspire a bit of friendly competition between them to really motivate them!

❤️Brick, being the daddy's boy that he is and thriving off of praise, would definitely go all out with his gift, maybe rob a bank or museum to REALLY show off how dedicated to evil and to his dad he is 🥺 Hopefully whatever he plans isn't so big and elaborate that it blows up in his face...

💚Butch would probably keep meaning to make something but forgetting about it (I wonder who he got that from (it's me lol)) so the morning of he would throw together a homemade card that looks like a baby Jackson Pollock painting and has a bunch of very messy drawings in it and for some reason the edges are charred???

💙I feel like Boomer would struggle the most with a gift, so he'd come to me for help and I'd let him know a few things that Mojo would like. I wouldn't tell him exactly what to buy of course, I'd want him to figure it out for himself! But I think he'd end up going with one of my suggestions and get his dad a book! Mojo's quite the intellectual after all :3 I think Boomer would just pick out the longest most confusing and mature book he could find 😂💙💙

Zack and Henry are getting too much screen time in afraid (they are in love but Henry is being difficult, which leads to Zack being difficult. there’s conflict all around me (I’m the author and controlling their actions 💀))
