saw the wwdits s5 trailer and i'm cautiously excited but just fyi. if this ends up being a whole "we spend the whole season waiting for memo to get his vamp powers only to discover he can't actually become a vampire" deal I'm dropping the show forever. for real this time. they have appealed to my intrinsically curious nature and I am opening the door just a crack. but only so I can see guillermo have the most epic coming into his power moment in the season finale where he becomes the most powerful vampire we've seen yet and he tears nandor in half with his super strength and its literally so sexy everyone in a 3 mile radius throws themselves at his feet. otherwise I am hunting paul simms for sport in his own backyard. last chance fucko

Day 520

Ok i finally succumbed to the brainrot and threw Pearl into FMA because. because.

yeah anyways I wanted to focus more on her terraforming skills and named her the Shifting Earth Alchemist! She specializes in earth alchemy and has exceptional range with her transmutations, so she's able to transmute large plots of land at a time. Her transmutation circles are made up mostly of the Earth symbols and also a bit of water, and theyre tattooed onto her palms. She also has little earth symbols tattooed onto her face because. I needed to keep the little markings i give her somehow. They dont do anything except look kinda cool

I’m so excited you like Steve Crain too! He’s been a favorite character of mine for years at this point, and doesn’t deserve the hate he gets.

It bothers me when people don’t recognize the responsibility that weighs on characters. They essentially lost both of their parents at the same time, and you know Steve had to be the one to step up.

This isn’t just applicable to Haunting of Hill House, of course. But I’ve noticed that fans vilify the characters that aren’t victimized as obviously / aren’t the main character.

Anyways, just wanted to share with a fellow Steve-enjoyed lol

New Bestie - same. I got into a very heated discussion about how if the Crain siblings are supposed to represent the 5 stages of grief, the fandom has Steve and Shirley switched around, because everyone says that Steve is Denial and Shirley is Bargaining.

Meanwhile, in the show, Steve spends his adult life going around not necessarily trying to debunk ghosts, but hoping that maybe this time, it will be ghosts, because then maybe his family will just be a different kind of crazy. He says his mom and his sister are sick, and they needed help. He reminds me more of Fox Mulder - the "I want to believe" vibe. But he also is in the unique position of seeing ghosts and not knowing about it. All of his ghosts are people with jobs, moving around the house like normal people. Everyone hears the dogs at night, not just him. He doesn't hear banging on the walls, he doesn't see creepy zombies in the basement, he doesn't have his future self freaking the hell out of him his entire life. He sees his mom - and as far as he's concerned (because this is a horror show, not supernatural, the world he occupies is the one we're in - no vampires and ghosts, etc, and that is Understood) it's just the mental illness that has gone through his whole family finally catching up with him. Anyone in this world who has a family member swear they're being stalked by a faceless ghost while they're high on drugs is going to come to same conclusion Steve does, which is that they're nuts. BUT - he looks for any signs that he is wrong. And I'm still mad that they cut out part of the first episode that has Steve refusing to write about his family anymore, no matter the price, while driving by an accident where he sees multiple people standing around, but when he turns away and the camera is the only one on the accident, you only see the firefighters/first responders.

Meanwhile, Shirley is 100% in denial about everything, including what her own ghosts were. In her House Nightmare at the end, she even denies what actually happened - in her version, she doesn't have an affair. The House actually calls her out on "But that's not what happened, is it?" When Steve is doing CPR on his dying brother, Shirley's first words are "This isn't real". She denies Luke from going to Nell's wedding. She denies that their mother had anything wrong with her, she's in denial that she's running her own business into the ground, she's in denial about the death of the kittens, she's in denial about ghosts too - even though she has much more explicit contact with them with the knocking, and with a witness both times (Theo). She's in denial about the night that they had to flee Hill House. Like if she says it often enough, then it will be true that her family is fine and nothing is wrong.

Sorry. Long rant. But I love this character and this show so much and no one ever wants to talk about it (except @amandagaelic, and she has listened to me for literally hours at this point). One of these days, I will actually finish the Haunting of Hill House fic I have, and it will be posted.

We might all be dead from old age, or so senile we don't even remember the source material, but I'll stipulate in my will that it has to be posted. :-D

AND YES - people have a weird habit of like...picking one character to defend and that's the end of it. No one else can do any right and that character can do no wrong. I see it in Yellowstone fandom a lot. Or in Marvel (the Steve/Tony argument made me leave it altogether). I don't know if it's because fandoms are now predominantly younger, louder/more obnoxious from the safety net of internet anonymity or what, but Seeing Things from Someone Else's Point of View seems to be a lost art in both media and reality.

Wears his heart on his sleeve and, by nature, tends to take other people’s words at face value. Of course, given the type of world he grew up in, he knows he has to be very careful with who he trusts and shows kindness too. How else do you think he would come to trust and work with the Wizard so easily?

Dyvim confuses Hop for a type of measurement when discussing “How many Horned Limes are in a Hop?” in the Khonda Desert (which to be fair, I would be confused too)

Has a strong sense of justice, which apparently tends to be common among people on the spectrum.

Occasionally, others complain of how loud he is; volume control is something Autistic people can struggle with.

He occasionally misunderstands social queues or when is the right time to say certain things. Most notably, when he decides to outwardly say out loud to Zarozinia that he and the Wizard are her and Zaltanna’s allies in Fort Rachias in front of Umbra Legion soldiers. Of course, he’s worked very hard at trying to not do that over the years (he kinda has/had to in the environment he grew up in otherwise for…obvious reasons).

He may occasionally mutter his thoughts aloud without meaning to.

While before I headcanoned his aversion to meat and fish due to potential fear of eating his own kind, I think that he also has sensory issues related to those food groups, mostly smell (As seen in the siege of Fort Rachias and the Karamelle Prequest). As someone with my own sensory issues and trauma related to foods, it makes sense!

Dyvim’s special interest is in history, mostly with Khrysalis’s old times before the war and fall of Bastion. (I don’t think anyone else brings up the Old Times as much as he does.)

Rowana!! I got obssessed with that name sometime in fourth grade and when I made this Embodiment I decided she gets to have a name aside from her Law (Vitality)!! Because I can.

Rowana is actually incarnated physically as the second known instance of Rian's species!! Which is a kind of parasitic plantlife that assimilates life around it to make its own livable biome. She finds it incredibly funny that she's in hot water with the Universal Commission because Rian exists. Its not her fault evolution decided to be terrifying :3

Looking in my ask box I notice I’ve gotten an ask or two about submas mantit Monday around every Monday for the past few weeks, so I should probably address this.

Now that I have the time, I want to clarify that I’m not really doing it anymore, because 1) I ran out of ideas to draw, and 2) it sort of breached containment when it was brought out of our discord and turned into something it wasn’t. (Not a bad thing - people can draw what they want! But currently it’s not really what it started out as lol)

Hi love! to be fair that’s like my brain 24/7 so it was quite easy to make my whole blog be about it as well.

I’m a firm believer that everything can be hozier coded if you think about it enough. And like i said in ny ramble post i’m doing snippets to explain how i think it affects them and their relationship with their darling. It’s just that Ghost’s came to be faster than the others.

And soft!Price is my favorite kind of Price. i think of that man being soft daily, he’s my pookie and my roman empire. So there’s going to be a lot more soft price to come soon. (soft!141 in general but there’s something about a soft!price that wins me over every time).

No..! He was too late, he couldn’t dodge in time. All he could do was wait as the axe would come down and crush his skull. He closed his eyes, waiting for the end to come, when-

Rather than anything coming into contact with him, he heard the sound of an arrow, followed by a pained gurgle. Slowly opening his eyes, the man now had an arrow sticking out of his throat. His eyes glazed over as he collapsed, dead.

Nils looked to see the source of the arrow, wanting to thank the person that saved his life. The last thing he ever expected to see however, was one of his fath- of that man’s creations. A morph, somehow still alive… or was “existing” a better term here?

“…thank you.” Was all he managed to say. With how much grief they brought him and his sister, and especially due to their seeming lack of a “heart”, he found it hard to trust them. Yet they did save his life, and proper thanks should be given.
