I never really explored a lot of my oc Fae's post-canon world publicly, but Sylvix are together there and it was my headcanon that trans Felix would not be comfortable carrying a child to term, and so they adopt Elspeth. There were already so many Faerghan redheads, that I didn't feel bad about going that route with her design.

I've seen a few people headcanon Miklan a child that they adopt, and have sometimes played with the idea that she's that, but otherwise her origin isn't angsty. Happily chosen by her parents in an orphanage because she was scrappy and because her hair reminded Felix of Sylvain's. A brighter, quieter swordsman than Felix was in his youth, who still manages to remind people of him somehow. A Fraldarius in every way.

She's adopted between five and seven, so they miss some of the younger years and milestones, but are around for her to be young enough that she still mimics some of Sylvain's exaggerated / flirtatious smiles, that she still requires a basic education besides one that would be specifically required for people of their rank, that other discoveries and heartbreaks and illnesses are still a new and delicate thing.

Felix is better with making Elspeth feel better after an injury, or handling colds and impatience and distraction. Sylvain is more approachable with emotional conversations, but I don't think he's the best at them or that he'd want to have them without Felix present so Elspeth has to deal with both of her parents talking about her insecurities and desires almost like strategy. Ultimately it works because Felix and Sylvain are mature and kind-hearted and attentive to their daughter, but it's definitely unconventional.

They're always trying to pull each other closer. A whole family with a concern of living up to deserving one another.

I also want to add that she's at the Officer's Academy at the same time as two of my ot5 kids: (Hilda and Lorenz's youngest) Baldovin or Vinnie, and (Fae and Claude's only daughter) Sadaf. Vinnie and Sadaf, despite having different birth parents, near consider each other twins. Born only a few months apart and raised together by parents who were involved with one another, they're very familial at least, and the best of friends.

I wouldn't say I ship any of my next gen (with the specific exception of a merciedue fankid and an ot5 child), because I've not really invested in them as teens / adults the way that I've invested in them being children, but I like Elspeth developing a crush on Vinnie, and friends with both of them.

Baldovin is nothing like very little like Lorenz in temperament, unlike his elder siblings. He's loud. He's boistrous. He's short as a Goneril. Here's another paragraph about him from this post:

Baldovin (minor Crest of Goneril: Sometimes allows combat arts to prevent enemy counterattacks.) is a fortress knight. A slow, sturdy wall of armor. Lives to defend, and tries to incapacitate. Sympathy for his enemies. Feels like attacking marching units while mounted on either wyvern or horseback is unfair to man and animal, and thus only uses mounts to get from point A to point B. Crest nonsense: WILL wrestle your wyvern for fun, and enjoys the shock in how their necks rear back when his Crest allows him to pin their chin down while their wings struggle (squish that cat).

I also feel obligated to mention that in Fae's canon / post-canon, Sylvain joined the Golden Deer, and Dimitri survived Gronder but did not end up ruling as king. I have a few dimimari fics about where that left him, but they aren't fully transparent that Felix also remains his best friend.

14. How often does each partner cry? How do their partners engage or react to the differences in emotion between themselves and their partner(s)?

I think that while Felix did grow out of crying as often as he did as a child, that Sylvain cries a lot and unfortunately for Felix, it becomes more and more likely that seeing Sylvain in tears makes him cry also. Felix puts in so much effort post-canon in his relationship to Sylvain (among his platonic relationships to others), so that they can have harder conversations and feel better — and not simply awkward, after vulnerabilities are shared. It surprises Sylvain how bad he, himself, is at communicating, but it becomes more obvious through Felix's growth and efforts. They still have time to be young men together, and Sylvain also improves at giving tears their space, whether from sadness or otherwise.

16. If prompted to describe what love and / or acceptance feels like in their relationship, what sort of answer would each partner give? If this is not their honest answer, what would be the true answer for them?

Felix would say it feels like coming home. Like having a place to rest and not have to worry about being anything but you are.

Sylvain would say it feels like a warm fire after ages in the cold, like something you want to throw yourself into to recover from the chill, but that you have to wait for and tend and appreciate for it to steadily warm you.

54. Baking therapy on a budget Ft. Genshin Characters: Collei

Hello, Every birdy. Today we are going to be making one of my sister's favorite foods. The food that she wanted for her birthday. Falafel.

Collei is a trainee forest ranger in the Forest of Sumeru. She has met characters from Mondsandt and is a victim of the Fatui (bad guys) as they experimented on her. Besides Lisa Collei is the first Sumerian character that people met, who read the manga. And her favorite food is Pita Pocket. Honestly, that was the reason my sister wanted Falfela for her birthday dinner. 

So for this recipe there really isn’t going to be much of a recipe per say. Because we are just going to be making it based off a box mix. 

But I do want to explain to everyone what Falafel is. Falafel’s are chickpea or fava bean, deep fried balls. They also have fresh herbs and spices in them. They are normally a Middle Eastern Street food. It can be served in many different ways. From the most notable one of being inside pita pockets with tahini sauce and veggies. But they could aslo be in salads or as side dishes. 

We did not have tahini sauce, but we did have sour cream and almonds. So we made a almond sauce. We made a almond paste and then put it in the sour cream. When I say we, I mean me and my mom. We tag teamed on this dinner and it came out really good. 

So we are going to make it according to the directions on the box.

In a bowl, you are going to add your mix and about 1 ½ cups of cold water. 

Late that stand for 15 minutes. 

Take a tablespoon of the mixture, and form them into small patties or balls. We decided it would be balls. 

Just note if the mixture does not allow to form balls, spoon the mixture into the hot oil, about a tablespoon size. 

Each tablespoon of mixture makes about one ball. 

You are going to heat your oil. Enough to cover the balls or patties. 

Now you are going to deep fry the falafel balls or patties for about 2- 3 minutes in the hot oil. Making sure that you turn them occasionally until the crisp is golden brown. 

Place the balls or patties on an absorbent paper towel to drain and serve hot. 

Slice and open up your pita bread, place your almond or tahini sauce inside, add in the falafel and then add in some cucumbers. And enjoy. 

My sister loved her birthday dinner, and she was happy that we ended up making it. And that makes it so worth it.

honestly, ira doesn't really lie. she says stuff as she thinks it and doesn't try to soften the blow.

you could count telling Hamza she's "not going to get into trouble" or "going to stay put" or "no I did not hid that bunch of insects on your bed why do you ask" as lies I guess but they both know she's lying so i guess there's that

9- Do they give tough love or gentle love most often? Which do they prefer to receive? (sher)

if only he could learn to plainly give love huh, wouldn't that be neat.

I feel that once he learns to he'll be a gentle love kind of dude, specially to karma, in fear of fucking up and hurting others. (he gets called out about it, even by karma). it is a journey™ and it mostly happens after púlsar but he'd eventually give tough love when necessary (mostly to sadaf. she's a little brat. she's also like 5. some would call it parenting)

as for himself, he's extremely tired of the tough 'love' his father gives him :) also he's already hard enough on himself he could use some gentleness

13- When do they fake a smile? How often? (sher and karma)

Sher? every fucking day of his fucking life. on a meeting? fake smile. talking to his father? fake smile. talking to karma? extra biggest fake smile. he always has his assholey smirk on his face. and. it. falls. the. second. he's. alone.

karma did use to fake a smile a lot when his mom was still alive. he didn't want to worry her about his problems so he told her everything was okay (it wasn't). now he just doesn't have reasons to pretend to be okay or happy anyways so he doesn't even bother :)

42- If invited to a TED Talk, what topic would they present on? What would the title of their presentation be? (ira)

REASONS WHY INVITING ME TO DO A TEDTALK WAS A BAD IDEA. A TED TALK BY ME (IRA)

that's,,, that's it. and this is only in the very unlikely case she would accept the invitation. like, she has the knowledge to give a ted talk about creations and how it all works, and that was probably the reason she got invited for starters, but 1. she's not very good at explaining it, 2. she's not a speech giving person, and 3. she's not talkative at all (unless she's bored and her voice is the only thing she has to distract bother others)

this question actually took me a while to answer. he doesn't think he can trust his friends (garvan, emhi, áine) because he feels like he's not a priority to them/ feels isolated from them and their dynamic and he'd rather keep his thoughts to himself.

during púlsar he ends up trusting 100% in ira ride or die. it's mostly out of guilt of all ira goes through (partly because of his own actions so he's compensating) (my boy is full of guilt what can i say) and he also has no reason not to trust her 100%

i don't personally agree with how he's going about everything actually, but it's not like he knows another way. he's trying his best. which isn't great. but he's trying

The Herald. Someone strong by my side is always helpful. I feel like we’d start out as a boss-employer relationship but then we’d become trusted buddies. I know that the Herald would always have my back, so I can relax around them. 

The Consort, cause being as powerful as this character I created must be lonely. Having a consort by my side would keep me from going insane. Everyone needs a hug now and then.

Anna’s Appreciation Post

A year ago I plucked up my courage and posted my first fiction here, it was trash really maybe after some corrections I’ll post it someday but anyway that was the time when I really got into fanfiction like I could spend the whole day on Tumblr reading everything I could, writing whenever I had time (I was able to write almost 7k words fic in two days which is a success for me, now it would take me 2-3 months) and of course I started to follow wonderful people who are masters in what they’re doing.

So in order to celebrate my one-year activity in Marvel fandom, I made a list of 26 blogs I really love, admire or simply like. I know I’m gonna expand it or do the part 2 because 26 out of over 100 is simply not enough.

I put here works I especially enjoyed and since I was neglecting Tumblr for the past six months I simply forgot many of the titles by those amazing authors, I put here those who I recalled

I tried to write about every author so you may notice I wrote more about one but less about other this stems from the fact that I don’t know personally any of those authors although I wish I did, I simply based on interactions with others and of course also my Tumblr-avoiding-time is showing through this. This is an old bone, but I’m going to chew on it some more because the public perception of romance novels is a perpetual source of irritation in my life. As a general rule, I try not to spend all my time defending the genre from the fifty-million polemics written about romance novels each year (which seem to spring up faster than dandelions in the spring). If we waste our energy shooting down shallow, unsubstantiated arguments, then we have no time left to devote to real consideration of the genre (its flaws, its value, its sociocritical commentary, etc.). Which, of course, is what they want.

Today, however, I’m going to make an exception.

Because back in June there was an article in the National Post that really hit the wrong note with me—so much so that, rather than fire off the rage-fueled response I wrote that same day, I have been sitting on this post for two months. I’ve been hesitating for two reasons: one, rage is not a good look for my writing style, and two, the issue I have with the article itself is a point of massive frustration for me both personally and professionally. I wanted to be sure that when I finally wrote this post, I was able to clearly articulate why.

But right off the bat, let’s get one thing clear:

Dear Romance Detractors of the World,

THE ROMANCE GENRE IS NOT YOUR JUNK FOOD.

Sincerely, We’re all really tired of this argument.

Sadaf Ahsan’s article, “In Defense of the Trashy Summer Read,” ran in the National Post on June 27, 2018. After months of fairly decent media coverage for the genre—this year has been an amazing one for positive representation of the romance novel in the media—I was hopeful that, despite the use of “trashy” in the title, Ahsan’s piece would, in fact, be a defense of the romance.

But Ahsan quickly disabused me of that notion. She begins the article by asking us to “redefine how we think of trash”—not to redefine what we think of as trash, but what we think of trash. Not an auspicious start, since she is clearly still associating romance with “trash.” But, thankfully, the word trash, through annoying, has been used so often with regards to the romance genre that it’s really lost most of its power. So, though annoying, Ahasan’s ability to distinguish between trash and quality wasn’t enough to set me off. No, it was when she compared romance novels to junk food that I really lost my temper.

So I have decided that it’s time for a Romance Novels 101 refresher course.

LESSON 1: ROMANCE NOVELS ARE NOT TRASH

To explain why Ahsan comparing romance novels to junk food set me off, I have to back up a few years.

In 2015 the Smithsonian ran an article by Emma Pearse on their magazine website, “Why Can’t the Romance Genre Get Any Love,”about the academic study of the romance genre. In the article, Pearse makes the argument that romance novels have as much literary merit, and are as worthy of academic study, as any other piece of fiction, from Tolkien to Tolstoy. She draws particular attention to the fact that most other forms of genre fiction, in particular fantasy and science fiction, have been studied in universities and taught in classes for years. But romance has not been afforded the same degree of attention, time, or effort.

We all know why romance novels are so commonly dismissed as trash, of course. Critics will defend their stance by claiming that romance novels are:

Badly written. (I draw your attention to this excellent piece by fellow Rioter Danika Ellis on why you should stop using the phrase “badly written” to critique books you just didn’t like.)

Sexist. (Which is funny coming from people who are frequently sexist in their attacks on romance novels.)

Causing women to confuse fantasy and reality. (You can tell from the the pulsing vein on my forehead that this is my favorite.)

But at the end of the day, the main reason that romance novels are dismissed as fluff and nonsense is because they’re (mostly) written by women, and when has something created by women for women (and about women or centered on women) not been automatically been dismissed out of hand?

But the more you try to explain to them that romance novels have value—literary value, cultural value, critical value—the discussion becomes a Magic Eight Ball of Ignorance (-5 to Intelligence). Every time you make a rational argument and shake the ball, the words “mindless brain candy” keep floating to the surface.

LESSON 2: ROMANCE NOVELS ARE NOT JUNK FOOD (OR FAST FOOD)

If you want an example of a typical response from the Magic Eight Ball of Ignorance, check out this early comment on Pearse’s article:

This guy pissed me off in 2015 when he claimed that romance novels were of no more consideration to thinking people than fast food was to food critics. And when I saw Ahsan making the same argument in her article earlier this year, I had to resist the urge to set fire to my laptop. Because of all the arguments against the romance genre, this is the one that I hate the most.

Below is the third paragraph of Ahsan’s article, in which she introduces her “junk food” metaphor. Which she then carries through the entirety of her article, as though she’d discovered the most fucking clever rhetoric trick known to man. (Reader, she had not.)

“Because the thing is, trash – mostly as it pertains to pop culture – is a lovely thing. And the very best, the most vacuous and lighthearted, is deliciously digestible. Like devouring a brightly coloured cupcake or the jelly donut you know isn’t going to offer you anything more than needless calories and a sugar migraine, devouring a trashy novel is the utmost not-giving-a-damn-that-literature is able to offer.”

This paragraph exemplifies everything I hate about the faulty comparison of romance = fast food/junk food. There are dozens of things in Ahsan’s article that I could tear into that are wrong, ugly, idiotically stereotypical, and just plain ignorant—if only I had the time. But this right here is the worst of it. When she follows this paragraph up with remarks like:

“Who cares about extra calories? Who cares about a jelly stain? Who cares if you’ve named your cat Fabio after an iconic romance novel cover star?”

or

“they go down easy, but fast, one after the other, like beers you’ve been tossing back all afternoon, or that bowl of guac you may or may not have finished all on your own. What’s one more drink; one more chip; one more prurient paragraph?”

Ahsan illustrates exactly why this sort of argument makes me so angry. For one thing, it is much too easy for someone to spin it in a way that sounds positive even while the undertone is derisive. Like I said, going into Ahsan’s piece I had hopes that it would be pro-romance, given the title. And on the surface it seems to be. Read romances, Ahsan says! Don’t let anyone shame you for reading romances! These are arguments real romance readers make everyday to encourage each other and to embolden new readers.

The difference is that when actual romance readers say these things we mean “read romances” and “don’t let people shame you for reading romances” because. The “because” being that romances are amazing, creative, ever diversifying, feminist, and (naysayers and literary gatekeepers be damned) possess amazing literary value. When Ahsan says “read romances,” etc., it’s not “because,” it’s “but.” Read romances, but never forget that they’re bad for you and to supplement your romance reading with real books.

Fun fact: the definition of prurient is “marked by or arousing an immoderate or unwholesome interest or desire; especially: marked by, arousing, or appealing to sexual desire.”

Excessive. As in, you should be ashamed of the degree of interest. This word has a explicitly negative connotation, and you will never convince me Ahsan didn’t know that.

LESSON 3: ROMANCE NOVELS ARE NOT WARPING ANYONE’S MIND

And that’s the ugliness of the “junk food” metaphor. It encourages you to “indulge,” but it never wants you to forget that it considers what you’re consuming to be bad for you, and ultimately it looks down on you for your choices. This sort of thinking is tied into a long history of people dismissing the romance genre as useless, valueless, ineffectual literature, even as they oppose that same argument by claiming romance novels are harmful to women. (See above re: the vein in my forehead and the idiotic idea that romance novels blind women to reality.)

That’s right, women are so stupid and unaware that we can be tricked by a piece of fiction. Did you know that? I didn’t. Must be because I’ve been reading too many books to pay attention. We’re so incapable that we have to be told what we can’t read, what we can read, and how much of one thing we can read before it warps our simple little minds. Now smile, pretty girl, and say thank you! But, then, pretty might be the wrong word to use, because based on the awful romance reader stereotypes that Ahsan evokes in her article (apparently we’re all sloppy, lazy, lonely, cat-owning, sex-obsessed spinsters, btw), I doubt the average asshole romance hater would consider us all that attractive.

Okay.

Apparently even two months later I haven’t gotten all the rage out.

So, before I go find something to bring my blood pressure back down out of the stratosphere, one last time for the people in the back:

today is my 1st tumblr anniversary!

I was going through a few of my old posts and I thought I remembered starting my blog in October, and when I looked at the actual date of my first post on here, it was October 29, 2016!! I can’t believe it’s already been one year since I gathered the guts & started this blog & started to post my writing (the very first was my Park Place series)!

in only a year, I’ve (somehow) gained 3700 followers, strengthened my love for both writing and reading fanfiction, fallen deeper in love with my favorite characters, and most importantly, formed so many friendships I wouldn’t otherwise have had I not started this blog. 

so, I want to say thank you to everyone. to all of my followers and friends, who have been here all this time supporting me and encouraging me to write and broaden my creative horizons. some of you have been here from the very beginning, and to me it’s crazy that some of you have stuck around my weird self for so long, and have continued reading my work all this time. I’m insanely grateful and shocked that I get as much support as I do, but I’m no less grateful for each and every one of you. if you’re not mentioned here, know that I love you & appreciate you just as much - I wish I COULD tag each and every one of you (3703, to be exact), but that be a bit hard. also, I’m still a bit foggy from pain, but I want to write this all anyway, so just let me know if I missed anyone!

Thank you for the ask! How about Fae's bisexual daughter Sadaf?

3. Did they ever have someone under the rainbow to look up to? Whether a celebrity or a teacher or a friend or something?

Besides Sadaf's parents (Fae and Claude as bio parents, but with Hilda, Lorenz and Avery kicking around), big special mention to Rumaisa, a Claude's sister oc of mine. Rumaisa is a lesbian and conducts herself and her relationship(s?) in a way that would be more reflective of the persona Sadaf is interested in projecting and the life she wants to live, even if Sadaf is more reserved where Rumaisa is extroverted, and Sadaf is far more strategically minded than Rumaisa is.

In some ways, Sadaf is like if young Claude hadn't felt compelled to hold up his smile to make peace; neutral or even despairing in her resting expressions; but she appreciates humour and joy and love and takes cues from Rumaisa on how to express these things in a way that invites attention she wants and discourages attention she does not want.

16. Have they ever had someone come out to them?

Her older brother Geralt probably only really came out to Fae and his twin Nader, asking to go by he/they pronouns and confessing to a romance with another young man. Sadaf and the rest of Geralt's family either would have been trusted to be told by Fae or expected to understand through these accommodations and the occasional (traditionally) women's attire that his gender is complex but personal. He's as loud as he wants to be about being gay.

But maybe someone Sadaf meets at the Officer's Academy comes out to her, knowing they would be safe with her.

18. Do they use any coding or overt signalling in their clothing, personal style, possessions or language to reflect their identity?

Yes. Sadaf would accessorize in a way that reflects her sexuality, which would include placement and style of piercings, and colors of jewels and scarves. Also the shape and fit of her armour.

In a modern setting, the length and style of her hair would also be coded in some way; differently depending on whether she was living in Fodlan, Almyra, or a real world country.

Good Omens Fandom Welcome Pack (4/3/17)

Yo my dudes!!!! So I got a message from @dirktective-assassina who just found out that there’s a good omens fandom so I figured I’d try and pull together some resources as an up to date fandom welcome pack :D It’s pretty long and comprehensive so I’ve put it under the cut.

So first things first: the ship name of Aziraphale/Crowley isn’t Crowaphale or anything like that but is Ineffable Husbands. We also sometimes use Air Conditioning (like A/C if you see?) although this is less used now than it was, largely because of the way tumblr tagging works versus livejournal and it’s a bit of a hassle to traipse through posts of people’s air conditioning not working, but there are still posts on that tag and it's a good way to find older fan-works. Other wise we generally just tag as Good Omens.

As with a lot of fandoms with a slightly longer history, livejournal used to be the main site for the good omens community and we transferred across bc, let’s face it tumblr is a hell site but it’s also a hell of a lot more accessible than livejournal. However, there are still a lot of things going on with livejournal!!! my main resource there is the Lower Tadfield Air Base: Fighting off Armageddon since 2003! The Good Omens Holiday Exchange is also organised on livejournal, I’ve linked to this year’s entries :)

Which brings me onto fic!! (Some of these fic will be explicit but they all have warnings at the beginning). Two fics always recommended in older fic rec lists are The Sacred And The Profane, and A Diamond Sky Above Titanic (although, personally, they’re not really my favourites). Also, The Lower Tadfield Air Base has a good fic tag :) Finally there’s this post which also adds some extra links and info on joining the good omens fandom, it also has a gen fic section if that’s more your cup of tea.

My main source of fics however, comes from our Lord and Saviour, Archive Of Our Own. Just take note when you’re using the search tool you fully type in Aziraphale/Crowley rather than letting it autocorrect you to Aziraphale/Crowley (Good Omens) then you’ll only get 217 works in comparison to the 1178 fics available and all the fic of Aziraphale/Crowley (Good Omens) is filed under Aziraphale/Crowley anyway. If that makes any sense?

Personally, I’ve been horribly remis in tagging my own favourites because I’m fairly useless. However, I know I love Fridays by ylc. If you like human! aus then I also really love Ordinary People by daeger which has a wee Jewish painter Crowley :D

Ruby Tears by @not-a-space-alien is also a really good fic in highlighting the fandom’s perspective on Crowley: essentially in that he’s a HUGE FUCKING NERD who tries so hard to look cool and suave and is actually just very vulnerable and sweet and loving. Aziraphale, on the other hand, is very much an oblivious banana that’s too self-obsessed to really recognise this and has an incorrect view that Crowley is The Adversary and should be thought of as such. There has been A LOT of AMAZING meta on this, I would really recommend @futureevilscientist‘s essay on The Arrangement as p. much essential reading. They also have a tag for meta which I also really recommend.

My final fic to recommend is HAS to be the Crown of Thorns series by @irisbleufic (often shortened to cot). For me, this is The Fic, you know, and I feel like it really defines the Good Omens fandom in many ways. It’s based on the fanon that after the events of the apocalypse, Aziraphale and Crowley moved into a cottage on the South Downs together. All the details of the fic are in the introduction :D Other Iris fics to recommend are Regulars and What to Say (and How Not to Say It) if like me you’re trash for 3rd person pov. Finally as someone from York I’m honour bound to mention Promises to Keep.

We also have some Amazing artists in the fandom, people like @kogla and the like are just so great to have posting content for us!! basically just turn to the good omens tag and follow some of the suggested blogs (see below) we’re always posting everything :D One of my faves is this one by @6utton (who also gives me my raffles fix). @lunasong365 has also sent me this beautiful video and their playlist of other videos :‘) You also have the good omens tag on the hell site of deviantart

Also in terms of art, @askajcrowley is utterly brill, they don’t post much anymore but when they do I cry because they’re great.  If you want a really interesting view of how fandom has changed over time, go back through their posts as far as you can, it’s seriously worth it. In terms of fandom changing, the Good Omens fandom has generally imploded; it did used to be a very big active fandom, with a lot of ask blogs and a much greater focus on the other characters besides Aziraphale and Crowley. The current day fandom does feel bad about not talking about the other great multifaceted characters but we don't tend to do much to rectify it, as not-a-space-alien highlights in this post.

The older fandom also used to have A LOT of discourse surrounding fancasts. Oh God. Suffice to say if I ever see another post casting Bajkfbgjgiug Cskjfbgkjfba/Tom Hiddleston in all the roles I will actually throw up. This trend lead to our Worst Meme, Cage Omens: in which all the characters are played by Nicholas Cage. This meme likes to make a reassurance every now and again, so FOR GODS SAKE DONT SUMMON IT. (We all secretly love it).

Speaking of fancasts, we should probably mention adaptations. When the news of the latest adaptation came forward, a lot of us were very apprehensive because We Have Been Here Before. Lots. Like 5 Times. (I think in like ‘02 there was going to be one with Robin Williams but It was just after 9/11 and everyone ran as fast as they could from apocalypse based media). However, this one does look like it’s going ahead and will be airing next year maybe :) We do also have the beloved radio adaptation, which we will all suggest had it’s flaws but was also p damn brill. (The BBC sometimes replay it around Easter?)

However the discourse over fancasts did actually raise some pertinent points to do with race, with a lot of people feeling really uncomfortable with how white the suggestions were for characters that have no explicitly stated race. This is especially the case in regards to Aziraphale where there might be inbuilt preconceived conceptions of a white angel. This post and @a-poc-alypse‘s commentary on the subject I think is really important. I think the fandom now makes a concerted effort to try and produce more diverse art and the like, and I think we are better than we were, but it is something we have to actively work towards rectifying.

Other discourse of far, far less importance is in regards to their wings. Essentially, a lot of older fanart has Crowley with bat like wings which a lot of the fandom disagrees with, and there’s a lot of discourse about the colour of their wings too. Traditionally, Aziraphale is depicted with white wings and Crowley with black, but as is oft pointed out within the fandom, the colour of their wings is not stated and, given the significance of heaven and hell just being names for sides with no tangible distinction, and that demons are of angel stock, this separation has been questioned. Basically, the consensus now is play around with it!!!!! My head canon is that Az has owls wings and Crowley has duck wings :D

As for Hogwarts Houses, no one actually knows tbh either of them could fit into any house I think? We've had a lot of discussions and I think the ultimate conclusion we’ve come to is just go with what you want. At the moment I think I like Gryffindor Crowley and Ravenclaw Aziraphale. Some good Harry Potter AUs are Potter Omens by sadaf, St. Joseph of Cupertino, Home Life and Social Habits of British Muggles, and the Legacy of James Bond by Interrobam, A Look into a Magic Mirror by athousandelegies, and Saturday by Elvendork.

This leads to another point which is the links Good Omens have with other fandoms. There are Obviously the links with Supernatural given that their Crowley was literally named after ours, but there are also a weird amount of Wolfstar (Remus Lupin/Sirius Black) crossover fics and a lot of them involve them all sleeping with each other?? Anyway. I’ve also noticed that p. much all the Raffles fandom tend to be Good Omens fans too.

Finally you have the Shakespeare/Marlowe fandom so there are a lot of jokes in fandom at the moments about Crowley/Shakespeare (ship name: Snakespeare). I’m laying the blame firmly on @macdicilla and this post.

Music!! I LOVE @ajcrawly‘s The Ritz Does Not Admit Nightingales but 8tracks is useless for UK pals atm. Every playlist of Good Omen will have Queen and A Nightingale Sung in Barkley Square, I’m sorry I don’t make the rules.
