Ok but i once read that there could be a possibility of wukong being a female because humans at the time of jttw couldn't tell if a macaque was a female or not + translations could have accidentally changed his gender
so everyone assumed wukong was a male because of his ruined voice making it seem more masculine and because of the fact he fought and he was good at it.
Now i have a new reason to do trans wukong.

Eddie's "maybe you're repressing things" panic attacks and him going to therapy because of them, was going to be Eddie's gay awakening arc wasn't it??? we felt it in our boooooneeeees. 😭😭
and now we have Eddie and Catholic guilt!!!! it's the second attempt!!!! we're going to have his sexuality arc too, and then we'll get buddie!!
and now it's not a delusion, not the fans seeing something that isn't there (fuck you, Kristen), it's a highly probable storyline!!
SCREAMING!

We think this is something highly important that needs to be said that there really are some certain situations where Micah mentally / emotionally can not manage and will shut down as a result, placing themself and the Starwake System in their most vulnerable position that can potentially put them all in danger.
Even if Micah is in a seemingly safe environment with a harmless person ( e.g., their therapist— Alyx, their close friend, significant other, etcetera ); for Micah to feel overwhelmed, if not afraid and / or stressed, by any factors in the situation is always considered to be a highly concerning thing to the system that any other alters will take immediate action of helping Micah collect themself, either by fronting to remove them from the supposed harmful situation ( as taking Micah to their inner world ) or co-conning / co-fronting to guide them out of the situation in the most safest ways possible for them as a system.
Therefore, in certain prompt replies / threads, a specific alter will most likely appear as to co-con / co-front or fully front if necessary when Micah is facing a case that they may have trouble handling by themself, regardless of who they are with and what the situation they are in may be ( i.e., this can happen even when Micah has a therapy session with Alyx, where despite no actual threats being posed, an alter may still take over and carry the conversation with Alyx as normally as possible if Micah happens to have trouble communicating with their therapist, may it be due to their low energy level, the discussed sensitive topic, etcetera ).
This has to be said because, especially given the fact that this blog mainly centers Micah rather than the Starwake System itself, we don't want people to assume Micah can always be present in the situation of the thread / prompt reply, even if they may expect only Micah is so for their own reactions, but as it's just often impossible for Micah to handle an intense situation entirely alone, we do not want to force-write Micah into repressing the assisting alter so that they can carry the situation ( and narrative, in the out of character sense ) by themself.
It is what Micah would've done often when recently discovering they're a plural, but while they would gradually come to accept their plurality and realize how harmful it is to repress an alter over time in the timeline with your muse, we would extremely prefer and appreciate if Micah wouldn't do it as often while they give the other alters the chance to help them / the system out in their own ways.

Thats interesting that they named Brer Fox, Honest John, in one dub? Was the intention to make Brer Fox the same as the Fox in Pinocchio?
THAT'S EXACTLY WHY IT BOTHERS ME SO MUCH AHSJAGS !! Bc I honestly hate the fox from Pinocchio and hate that they were given the same name. Esp when Br'er Fox is already way less known than him >.>
But no, in the dubs he's never refered to as Honest John. His name was adapted to Comrade Fox / Fox / Brother Fox / Mister Fox in the movies. It was only in the comics and further material that he was renamed Honest John. Br'er Rabbit's name also changed to Quincas Rabbit and Br'er Bear's name was Big John in the comics.
Idt they tried to imply they were the same character, I think it was either a coincidence or homage of some sort, who knows. I highly doubt the people translating the comics even knew who Br'er Fox or what Song of the south was, tbh. That movie was never big here (even less so, i mean)
This is smth that most english speakers will never really see in their media, since english is usually the default. Adapting and dubbing over material to a different language is a hella MESSY process, and sometimes we as the public end up confused. Sometimes you end up with bad translations, bad adaptations, or several different studios that dub/adapt the same characters in different ways. Which is why he doesn't even have a canon name in Brazil, the way you call him will depend on which dub you used to watch.
He doesn't even have a canon gender in some places. Latin languages are gendered, and most animals are male. However, Fox (Raposa) is a female word by default. So in a few dubs in Italy he's actually changed to a female to make the translation easier.
So, yep, it was just a messy process and dumb decisions. Im still mad about it tho. I usually just call him Br'er Fox anyway, but if you ask me then his 'canon' name here is just Raposa (Fox) bc thats the dub i gew up with

deep apologies for jumping into your inbox based on a tag you left on my post but the history teacher in my needs to say: the every woman's man and every man's woman thing is from the writings of the Roman historian Suetonius, and he claimed it was something said about Caesar. So it's something that is recorded as having been said, but if it actually was, or if there wan any truth behind it, is a massive tossup because Suetonius is not a source to take at face value, and accusations of sexual passivity were also often used as political slander regardless of if they were true or not. So if Suetonius was telling the truth about it being something that was said, we can't know if the claim itself had any truth behind it. But there could be! We just don't know and have to make sure to be careful because of how ancient histories work and because of how political accusations worked.
So uh, sorry for kicking down your door here dfghjk, but it is indeed real so to speak, is my point. Hopefully this brings some form of enjoyment
thank you so much for leaving this in my inbox! actually it's funny because right after I reblogged the post and tagged it with "is this real" I went and asked my friend about it. ( who is planning on doing something in the history field) and she also confirmed it for me! and she told me some other stuff about Julius Cesar as well and the historical context. I went from knowing nothing about him to knowing a lot of details in one night haha thank you!!
