Ok but i once read that there could be a possibility of wukong being a female because humans at the time of jttw couldn't tell if a macaque was a female or not + translations could have accidentally changed his gender

so everyone assumed wukong was a male because of his ruined voice making it seem more masculine and because of the fact he fought and he was good at it.

Good Source for Trans Monkey King Headcanon

While Sun Wukong is not historically or canonically transgender, I wholeheartedly support anyone with a headcanon portraying him as such. A great example of spiritual gender transition from Buddhist scripture that could serve as a basis for your headcanon is the “Dragon Girl” (Longnu, 龍女) from chapter 12 of the Lotus Sutra (Miaofa lianhua jing, 妙法蓮華經; a.k.a. Fahua jing, 法華經, c. 3rd-century).

She is first introduced to an assembly of Buddhist deities as the eight-year old daughter of the Dragon King Sāgara (Suojieluo longwang, 娑竭羅龍王) and one of an unfathomable number of dragonfolk enlightened by the Bodhisattva Mañjuśrī’s (Wenshu shili, 文殊師利) lessons on the Lotus Sutra. Her teacher describes her as a great student prodigy with a deep knowledge of Buddhist Law, as well as having many advanced spiritual achievements. But this upsets some among the assembly because the notion of a young girl approaching Buddhahood so quickly flies in the face of convention, which normally calls for untold aeons of severe austerities before one can achieve awakening. Her accomplishments are called into question at first, but everyone is appeased when she offers a priceless jewel to the Buddha, and he quickly accepts it as a symbolic gesture. Then:

The girl said [to the assembly], “Employ your supernatural powers and watch me attain Buddhahood. It will be even quicker than that!” At that time the members of the assembly all saw the dragon girl in the space of an instant change into a man (emphasis added) and carry out all the practices of a bodhisattva, immediately proceeding to the spotless World of the south, taking a seat on a jeweled lotus, and attaining impartial and correct enlightenment. With the thirty-two features and the eighty characteristics [of a Buddha], he expounded the wonderful Law for all living beings everywhere in the ten directions (Watson, 1993, p. 188). First of all, boys a Softie beheind all thoughs walls. He got issues, but that one scene where gave MK some comfort? Yea, he be a good therapist.

Shorter than MK? OMG YES. I want him to show up at a scene, all causual(which he isnt good at), and then he is just a short king.

GENDER BENDER, GENDER BENDER. I dont know if he is specifcally trans or non binary, but he will pull on literally anything and look fabuolus. Dresses, suits, both YOU NAME IT.

Characther interactions:

Wukong: Older brother vs Younger Brother relationship. They may always be figthting and pissing eachother off, but they will fight whatever enemy the other is against in a heartbeat.

The Traffic light Trio: Nezha is usually the calmer type, but he does like spending time with the younger cast. This is because of all the time he himself has missed, where he could just be " a teenager."

Macaque: Probaly met like once before lmk, but I feel like they would have a lot of great talks together. More specifically about them knowing Wukong, and how it has affected them(they still care for Wukong though)

Mo and Sandy: Nezha is cat person, and in season 4 we saw canon clips of him petting Mo.

I feel like him and Sandy would get along quite swell. Go for walks, water plants, mediate, go to group therapy.

Some little design notes for my SWK design because this is my kind of fun: - titties, sometimes binds but thinks it uncomfortable - curly & scruffy hair and fur - Shorter than MK, but taller than Pigsy - Had long hair before Macaque's death, cut it off afterwards and has kept it short ever since. (Reference to this comic)

MK (Lego Monkie Kid)

"Oooooh boy where do I begin. MK the Monkie Kid is the protagonist of the story but he has *so many issues*. He wants to be a good person but has a whole lot of impostor syndrome and is convinced he will only hurt people the more he tries to save them. He is convinced that every major villain in the show is his fault, even as far as misremembering/changing up some events to put blame onto himself He also has an absent mentor figure that was supposed to help him but guess what he had to figure out all his powers on his own so abandonment issues go brrrr. He has so much anger toward his mentor Wukong but he just *bottles it all up* (common theme) Also he is so trans and adhd coded. First, MK is a nickname. We don’t know his real name, but it is v much implied he used to go by something else. He and his friends also puts a lot of emphasis on manly stuff like ‘I’m a big boy!’/‘he’s a Monkie *Man*!!!’/‘im the smartie boy, the plan man!’ He also has trouble focusing and listening to other people, is sometimes blunt and he is VERY interested in Sun Wukong and the journey to the west (Chinese classical novel that the show is based on) and just in general always needs constant reassurance and support from his friends. He is often compartmentalizing his feelings and internalizes a lot of fear and blame is also suppressing a part of himself that scares him. (Which, same) He loves his friends so much and tries so hard to keep them all safe, even hiding his own problems and worries from them as an attempt to protect them. He wants to go back to season 1, back when each episode was a villain-of-the-week kinda story, with no world-destroying threats. But nope, he saw the horrors, and he can never go back to the bubbly Monkie Kid from the beginning. Also he is terrified of spiders :>"

This tournament is for underrated characters & ships (they will be separate polls within this blog) that you really want to have a chance but they just can't against the Doctor Who's and Critical Roll's of the world, all you need to do is submit them in one of the attached forms which you will choose based on what you want to submit. After that, when we've either reached the week mark or rounded up an appropriately daunting amount of submissions, whichever comes first, we will have prelims which will probably be the longest lasting round. All and I mean all submitted favs will be in the prelims pretty much no exceptions unless they break the rules. Speaking of!

• While the media the favs come from doesn't necessarily have to be underrated the fav has to be. For example Ace Attorney in it of itself wouldn't be underrated but characters could be, you could theoretically submit Ron DeLite and have him get in but you couldn't necessarily submit Edgeworth and have him get in.

• That being said I will make some caveats for things from super popular media like Star Wars for example because while a character could be underrated when somethings that popular its bound to have a ton of people know it no matter how underrated or obscure, I may be swayed with some convincing but don't get your hopes up.

• Some things I will inevitably have to ask about, because while some things are super popular I inevitably will not know something, so if I ask about something that should be common knowledge please don't make fun of me.

• Harry Potter isn't allowed here both due to the super popular media clause and also because I'm trans and don't want to worry about that stuff in my silly little tumblr tournament.

• Don't go ham on threats no matter how joking please.

• I am one person and also I've never done a tournament before and therefore know practically nothing about setting up brackets, please take this into account if you want to criticize however I end up doing it.

• Feel free to send propaganda in my asks! Also please tag me in it! Reading propaganda is my favorite part of other tournaments!

Soo First post, here.. about this AU I have for LMK. I'll just Info Dump a lot of it. Anyways, still new to LMK so a lot of this could change or be similar.. I mainly just wanted to share this AU Idea and Plot Points..

This AU was somewhat inspired by 'Stone Monkey AU' but I have my own twists.

So here's me trying to say it all while making it easy to read.

Firstly, some backstory inspiration for life on the mountain before Wukong's quest for Immortality comes from the Monkey King 2009 series. An English Translation for about 14 episodes (subbed) has been done by a channel called 'Monkey Servant'.

My main takeaway is that Liu'er has been kidnapped a lot and Wukong often came to their rescue (and they used to have fresh snow-white fur and their Ears look very much like their 2009 counterpart)

Major changes with MK and his place in Canon. I'll start with this for now since I feel their character and role will have some of the biggest changes short of Wukong.

Qi Xiaotian/MK is a Stone Monkey who is technically Sun Wukong and Liu'er Mihou/Macaque's kid(Though the Latter is unaware). They have Four Ears and have basically the same powers as Canon(May add more because of Mac but we'll see.) The main difference between this MK and Canon is that 1, he has had more training done by Sun Wukong, and he is a few centuries younger than Red Son. And he misses his Baba. (I'll get more into that MK later.) (May also make Trans but ??? I'll make a poll later to let people decide.)

Sun Wukong has learned a lot from being a father and HAS told MK about Mac, he tells the truth about the situation and how through his own actions he shattered the precious jewel he held so dear and it was his biggest regret because he is certain that if Mac lived they would have been their other Parent, their Papa or Mama.

So ShadowPeach was once Canon but not really anymore. (But who knows~)

After JTTW Wukong became very Isolated with only pop-ins, or visits between them.

Tripitaka also at some point during JTTW realised how much he had at times over-done it with the fillet and apologised. (Also during the Journey when asked how he was doing so well with the Kidnapping stuff he decides to be vague as fuck and say 'Oh, I have experience.' The Pilgrims believe he means he has kidnapped people before. Not saved them.) As Centuries went on the Pilgrims passed on, Tripitaka was first because Mortal, Sha Wujing and Zhu Bajie were next passing about the same time before finally Ao Lie.

Ao Lie only told Wukong about the fourth ring on their Death Bed, When the Celestial Realm called for DBK's Death (Likely also Red Son's too.) and ordered PIF back into their courts. Hearing about this Wukong made a deal with them to let him seal DBK and spare Red Son and PIF. The DBF has no clue about what Wukong has done and after sealing DBK under the Mountain they leave from the views of many basically sealing up Flower Fruit Mountain for good. Mainly this is because in the Original JTTW story, Wukong clearly shows a lot of care for their friends and respect for DBK and his family.

Now between JTTW and DBK's Sealing during Wukong's depressed spiral, a Stone Egg hatched and out came MK!!

There were ups and downs to single parent life but Wukong made it work. He taught MK everything and trained him well (I should mention MK never held his Father's staff once during this period of time.)

About a few years after sealing DBK Somethings has been attacking the Seals and Wukong has been using his own power to keep up. Collapsing in front of MK Wukong turns into a crystal the colour of a Vivid Orange Sapphire. (MK Gains his first bit of Trauma!!!)

(Anyways this part is left in the air because idk why he became like this. I mainly put this down for plot.)

Because of the Bridges Wukong burned and how many people would likely try to attack FFM to destroy the crystal if word got out the Kingdom decided to not ask for aid from anybody, unsure who to trust or who they could even reach let along reach out to (As nobody is even sure how to reach Guanyin and they don't rlly wanna owe them anything..) as by now all the original Pilgrims have passed on and MK is unsure if their families could even help them in the first place.

So he goes out to research and find a way to save his Baba in secret with little help or aid. All under glamours and Shapeshifting, while some look possibly promising the required living sacrifices and MK doesn't think his Baba would like that he killed somebody to save him. The Crystal is kept under constant Guard on FFM with many flowers, fruits and carved items placed around it.

He eventually goes to Megapolis, to follow leads. (He avoided it mainly because of DBF and not wanting to run into them.) After arriving about a few years before Canon. Transforming to look like young child (About 12 or so) they start looking around the city mainly to get a lay of the land when they get caught in a storm and a car hits them with muddy water.

Pigsy finds them, brings them in and asks MK why they were out in the storm at this time of day panicking he tells Pigsy that "Dad's really sick and.." MK doesn't elaborate, Pigsy asks MK if he has anybody to call, nodding MK quickly steps out and makes a clone to pose as an 'Uncle' as he quickly comes up with a cover story. The "Uncle" arrives a few minutes later, they tell Pigsy that they recently moved to the city for hospital reasons as 'MK's Father had fallen into a coma and he hadn't taken the news well.' After Eating the two leave as MK decides to use the old shrine his father had gotten years ago when the Pilgrims had still lived and renovate it while he stayed there. After he was "16" he got a drivers License and worked for Pigsy as a delivery boy. AND NOW WITH THOSE MAJOR CHANGES OUT OF THE WAY!!!

Now, we get to the main part, as we all know Pigsy, Tang and Sandy are 3 of the original Pilgrims reborn (Mei is up in the air for this AU. May make an "Uncle" for her and make her take over MK's role but that's for later.) The Main thing about is the three(Four?) of them remember their past lives as the Pilgrims. None of them knows MK is a Demon Monkey let alone Sun Wukong's Son, Now it starts off the same as MK takes the delivery to the DBF house but he decides to make a Clone to head back to Pigsy's as he goes to check out what they were doing after curiosity got the best of him. And in his monkey form, he steals his dad's staff. Giving them the name Qi Xiaotian. Now we have Pilgrims remembering their past lives + Secret Vigilante MK + Turned into Stone(Crystal)Wukong. I may add more onto this later but for now I hope you enjoy this idea.

Is Sun Wukong Trans?

The notion that Sun Wukong (孫悟空) is transgender became popular on English-speaking social media sometime around 2022. The central idea appears to be that the Monkey King, or I should say “Monkey Queen,” was originally born a cis-woman but magically changes to a trans-man sometime after learning the art of transformation. Whether this is true or not has two possible answers:

If you or a loved one are trans, identify with Monkey’s ability to transform his body, and choose to personally interpret the character or portions of his story as an allegory for transness, then yes Sun Wukong is trans. 

Historically and canonically speaking? No.

In this article, I will present common arguments in favor of a trans Monkey King that I’ve seen on social media. I will also introduce counterarguments supported by historical oral, published, and pictorial evidence that calls any claims of canonical proof into question. If I don’t have a particular counterargument in mind, I will simply post a comment.

Before continuing, I want to expressly state that this piece was written for two kinds of people: 1) Those who might openly claim that Sun Wukong is canonically trans; and 2) Those who don’t know enough about the character’s history or JTTW in general and might be swayed by seemingly knowledgeable online comments. It does not pertain to those who already personally interpret Monkey as trans and don’t care about canon because they were first exposed to him via movies, TV shows, video games, comic books, etc.

General readers will certainly find this article interesting as it features a lot of lesser-known historical information about the simian immortal.

If not, he'll probably get some snacks and cuddle up with you on his couch watching TV shows. Keeps telling you how GREAT you are for cuddling and how amazing you are

Macaque

Oh, Mac totally gets where you're coming from. He uses a glamour to hide what he really looks like, so he gets what you're feeling

Tries his best at comforting you. He's not the best with... words. He can tell you what you want to hear, but he doesn't want it to be so empty

So he takes down his glamour in front of you, for the first time ever. This is a really vulnerable moment for him, so bear with him as he tries to muster up the courage to speak

Tells you that he understands your feelings, but for him, you're the most perfect guy he's seen. He's quite the looker and got some attention from some people before, sure, but that was because he got his glamour on. You're the first person to ever see what he really looks like

Him taking his glamour off was his way of comforting you. Saying things like "I don't think I'm all that good looking either. But if you still love me, even if I look like this, then why shouldn't I love you back? You're the most perfect person in the world to me."

Mac doesn't really care about looks all that much. He seriously thinks you're the greatest, regardless of what you look like. He makes sure to tell you that every single day!!

I actually didn't know about the menstration = blessing horses lore! That makes a lot of sense why Wukong would get mad at Heaven for giving him such a role. Primates like monkeys go through menstration like humans; meaning that Wukong likely has a great deal of knowledge of how to treat the symptoms just by growing up around so many adoptive mothers and sisters. I feel in his time at the palace, he made many female friends just by being attentive to them when they were due.

And since many wild monkey species (especially macaques like Wukong is supposed to be) are matriarchal; it confuses Wukong even more that women in the Celestial Realm aren't given the same level of respect as men. While macaques dont have as obvious dimorphic traits as humans, I feel like Wukong's chest is more obvious than Macaque's is. He's not ashamed of his chest at all, even if it has grown along with his "dad bod" + pregnancy. Monkey Yao simply do not have the same hang-ups about breasts or menstration than most humans/celestials. Macaque is more shy about his chest cus he raised closer to humans and celestials norms also it's for Wukong's eyes only.
