lmao I keep getting into the Usagi/Seiya plotline since it... genuinely actually works and also manages to highlight Usagi/Mamoru well (in a way they... aren't great at doing when they're actually both in the same room, oops)
and then someone always barges in BUT USAGIIII DON'T YOU ALREADY HAVE A SPECIAL SOMEONE??????!!!!!! like the world's most unnecessary Sailor Kool-Aid Man
Usagi's got two hands and genuine feelings for both of them, y'all, leave her alone
#in other news this season feels like it has too many characters and not enough good direction on what to do with them#the outer senshi despite going on about WE GOTTA DEFEND YOU FROM EXTERNAL THREATS are...... fighting with the starlights#instead of the Literal Definite Threats From Outside the Solar System?#like yes I get that the starlights are kind of sketchy and/or assholes but. Mouse/Siren/Crow/Nyanko are Right There. priorities guys#Saturn just kind of wandered off and disappeared after the Nehelenia business...?#Chibichibi was structurally set up to mirror Chibiusa's position in the family but so far has just been a walking plot device#and not well integrated into the rest of the cast or show#partially I suspect they spent too long on the ''nobody knows who the others are!!!!'' dramatic irony and it's thrown the pacing off#and also. unfortunately. galaxia is boring#(this makes me feel broadly vindicated in my preference for the villains' anime backstories that are more personalized)#(compared to the manga's ''they're all incarnations of chaos'' thing or w/e it is? bc chaos....... is just kind of dull)#.......anyway contemplating how I'd patch stuff up#I think I'd shift it around so HaruMichi&tc are the ones primarily fighting the animamates w/ Usagi#& the inner senshi are trying to figure out what the deal is w the starlights (who they don't especially love)#something something disillusionment as they see how the 3 lights' personas are not especially nice people AND then also connect them#to these three fairly ruthless sailor senshi?#mixing around the social groupings also reinforces Usagi's loneliness after Mamoru gets put on a bus#and doing a little more with ChibiChibi as a parallel to Chibiusa - like there's a thing with the photo changing to leave out Chibiusa yes?#so bringing in more of that comparison (and having some unnerving creepy stuff of other people starting to not remember Chibiusa?) -#emphasizes the idea of ''fuck something's up something's happened to Mamoru that's affecting the future'' as a call-back#to earlier in the season when Nehelenia almost trapped him and made Chibiusa fade#(.....and if you REALLY must then Usagi can have Conflict Feelings about her little love triangle via attributing#Chibiusa's disappearance to the wrong cause)#..........this is way too long of a tag rant what am I doing with my life#James liveblogs television

Tenma siblings headcanons from the top of my head
--
I'm a FIRMM believer that Tenma siblings are very physically affectionate (i.e. hugs, forehead kisses, cheek kisses, high fives, shoulder bumping, cuddling, hair ruffling, etc)
This takes Toya fully by surprise when they do it to him outright, without any room for denial.
--
Tsukasa was eating breakfast with Saki and Toya before realizing he was going to be late for a meet-up with Wondershow.
He has this thing, where he instinctively kisses Saki on the forehead before he heads off, so he does. But, in his unfiltered older brother instinct and disarray, he kisses Toya on the forehead too. And just. Leaves.
Toya kinda blue screens before snapping back and being like "what."
Saki doesn't even bat an eye lmao she just kinda looks at him like he's a little weird.
Toya: (literally saw Tsukasa kiss Saki's forehead first before beelining to him without any hesitation) "I think... he mistook me for you"
Saki: "Toya you dumb fuck (/affectionate) you've been one of us since you stepped foot in our house"
--
Tenma siblings cuddle a lot, usually on the couch during movies. Tsukasa in the middle, Saki to his right, and Toya to his left. They aren't aware of the set position but whenever they switch, all of them all at once just think "something is not right rn"
While cuddling, Tsukasa often uses his right hand (which Saki is leaning on) to either scroll his phone, read, or so show work (costume designing, script writing, ideas, etc). He always leans his head on Saki's. He uses his left hand to run through Toya's hair.
--
Toya starts referring to Saki and Tsukasa as his siblings and family outside sometimes.
Saki and Tsukasa listens to pop music sometimes. Not their main music taste, but enough for it to be significant.
This culminates to a very confusing moment for VBS, who've met Toya's biological, douche, emotionally constipated classical music family, when they hear Toya say "Oh, yeah I know Taylor Swift. My family listens to her sometimes."
Which scared VBS to their core because why is Harumichi Aoyagi listening to western white girl music
--
Tsukasa loves baking and cooking. It's a stress reliever thing for him. This is a huge bonus for his siblings (mainly Saki. Toya's not a huge sweets person) because there's always sweets in the pantries.
Toya never sneaks into the kitchen alone, he wouldn't dare. Plus, again, not a huge sweets person. Saki, however, is a horrible influence. They often have 2am gossip, accompanied by brownies and vanilla ice cream.
--
Toya and Saki can't cook for their life. (I know canonically, they're okay-ish, but hear me out.)
Toya, raised as a rich kid for most his life, has never cut a single raw ingredient in his life until his late teen years.
Saki's been hospitalized for the majority of her life.
Tsukasa's the only Tenma sibling with cooking and baking skills (considering he had to fend for himself for a while)
While they were baking together, Toya and Saki managed to get the batter on the ceiling AND explode the microwave because the batter had too much eggshells in it when they put it in. Tsukasa had to call Rui over to fix it.
Tsukasa: "I can't pay you for now, Rui I'm so sorry-"
Rui: "Don't worry about it, Tsukasa"
Tsukasa: "I'll repay you in sweets when we're done?"
Rui: "...preferably not ceiling ones but yeah I'd like that"
--
Speaking of,
Ruikasa starts dating and Tsukasa swears that Rui had nothing to worry about when it comes to his family. They're welcoming! They're open! They'll love him.
Rui decided to not tell him about the glares coming from a certain pinkish blonde and split haired boy when they announced the news. (At least the parents were sweet)
Toya and Saki actually has no real gripes against Rui. They're protective, sure, they will eventually corner Rui and interrogate him, but Saki just thinks it's funny and Toya is just Toya. Rui's paranoid lmao
--
Akito punching Toya in the main story left a bruise (as seen in the official animation) which Tsukasa and Saki got really concerned about during their arcade hangout (Toya's first 3* side story).
Tsukasa figured out that Akito was the one who did it, and ranted to Saki about it. But he retracts it when the duo made up.
Saki isn't letting that shit go, oh no. This GINGER punched her brother?? Then, she started hearing about how Akito likes messing with Tsukasa, even insulting him to his face sometimes.
So she has a personal beef with Akito. Who didn't even know she existed.
When Akito first step foot into the Tenma household, he was dreading the presence of Tsukasa, but to his shock and horror, Tsukasa is actually more tame at home.
His biggest worry should've been the girl with pigtails, who, upon seeing him, got up from her chair and heads straight to her room. not breaking eye contact.
It takes a while, but Saki and Akito gains an unlikely alliance.
--
Names I gave to the Tenmas:
Tenma siblings: All three of them, at once
Tenma Twins: Saki and Toya
Tenma brothers: Tsukasa and Toya
Prototype Tenma: Tsukasa and Saki
(real original I know)
--
Kohane is Wondershow's number #1 fan, probably Tsukasa's number #6 fan (I love her but her competition is Saki, Toya, and Wondershow. Idk what to tell you. At least she got a number)
She absolutely loses it when Toya got them all free tickets to one of their shows.
Akito dreads going. An is slightly excited. Kohane is radiating pure joy.
Akito nearly cries when when Kohane admits that she actually likes Tsukasa as a person, not just a performer, when she properly meets him.
Akito: "An you're my only hope. Toya's biased, Kohane's insane"
An: "idk dude Tenma and Kamishiro are pretty cool when they're not actively trying to blow the school up"
Akito: "An please"
--
I have so much more idk maybe I'll post more later

Do you think having such a personalized and detailed headcanon makes it harder to enjoy fic about the show/game that's written by others?
I mean sure, probably.
But unfortunately things I adore, for people named Doc who are me, fall into one of two buckets:
The character work and plot in this show are incredible, I find myself turning it around in my mind like a rotisserie chicken. I constantly discover new things about the show/book/game or the characters in it. I do not read fic about this, because why would I? Every answer I search for is in the text. I want to talk about this with someone, but about what is THERE, not what could be there. Ex: The Haunting of Hill House, Picnic at Hanging Rock, Piranesi, Bioshock:Infinite, Watership Down, Yellowjackets, among others.
The concepts of this could be amazing but are handled so fucking badly so consistently, in a shocking contrast to how INCONSISTENT the character work is, that all I want to do is steal it and make it better. All i want to do is turn it into something that doesn't suck ass when you look at it too hard. So I am going to take it SO seriously, and I am going to develop the rich inner lives for these characters that they lack, with intense backstories and families and motivation for how they got to be the person we know, or know sometimes, in certain episodes or shorts. Ex: Sailor Moon and Overwatch are the biggies here obviously, this is actually not an emotion I feel very often. I don't have intense backstories and extra-textual feelings and ideas about most of the stuff I read and watch, these two are just my Spiders Georg.
So! The odds on me being into something in the correct way to make me want to Seek Treasure Elsewhere but also I have a chill enough attitude about how the characters are that Any Dream Will Do is almost nil. I do not in ANY way mean this in a shady way, but I mostly read published adult fiction for entertainment and not fanfic. I am very picky about my fanfic. So, "plus these two new red and blue girls into Starbucks" often won't work for me, because the reasons to have Haruka and Michiru meet in a coffee shop are completely different from any of the reasons Fareeha and Angela might meet in a coffee shop, and so many of those types are archtypical plug and play stuff. Honestly, I have skated the idea of making a cheat sheet of fanon archetypes of various characters and buying a typewriter to sell 100-200 word 'quick fic' at cons with my sister. That's how common it is to use these archetypes. This is not a criticism! At all!
But, to take the two couples above, I have read so much BORING SHIT about both HM and FA that I could throw up. Lesbian couples have a lot of very milquetoast writing about them, and a lot of meet-cute which isn't really my bag.
But there are authors I love! @oathkeeper-of-tarth was and is one of the best harumichi writers out there and we don't even have all the same headcanons. The rare occasions @verbforverb decides to grace me with "Jewish Mercy I don't Have To Write" I pop a can of bubbly in the tub. And on both fields of battle @keyofjetwolf has stuff I've had bookmarked for years, and there are some things even within Rei's backstory and history that we disagree on.
Actually, to that point what I like is good writing. You can write me into believing nearly anything. There are things I believe about Amelie when I'm reading @lemon-embalmer's stuff that when I go back to my own world, aren't true, but when I'm in her world who the fuck cares, I'm having a great time. EVEN MORE to the point, I read @moonlight-frittata's stupid sun and moon lesbian League of Legends shit and I would rather shoot myslef than know ANYTHING about the game, but unfortunately she has a beautiful turn of phrase and plot flow to her work that I just....read anyway, because it is good. Fucking @tallangrycockatiel had me like 25 pages or so into a story before I was like, "OH SHIT, IS THIS SLASH??? WAIT I DON'T WANT TO READ ABOUT BOYS' LOVE!! NO!!" *hits next page* And I still could not care less about that podcast and would never listen to it, and if I did I would be massively disappointed because to my mind, her John and Arthur are the actual article, and whatever the fuck is going on in the source material can eat my dick.
So, yes, I DO think that having a very particular point of view is going to mean I back out of a story where like, "Lena stepped out of her Chelsea flat, custom leather high heels clicking against the step" sometimes, or, you know, "Haruka put down her copy of War and Peace, each meticulous note codified by a color-coded tab. Blue was for historical references to research, green for character analysis, yellow for themes, blah blah blah*" But I am actually shockingly open minded in what I will read, often to the point that I'm reading stuff from SHIT I DO NOT LIKE OR CARE ABOUT, because the quality of the writing is excellent. So, also no.
*I met someone who read books like this and I suddenly realized what the literary equivalent of 'knowing someone is a serial killer' was.

Hiii, i’ve taken an interest in reading the manga series of Crows x Worst from your masterlist. But i’ve noticed that there are sequels to it and the internet is not giving me a direct answer as to what to read first 😭 , it says Crows was the first series published but that Crowz ZERO is the prequel, pls help meeeee.
You have no idea how happy this makes me! ❤ I can absolutely help you, so let me put together a little guide for you and anyone else interested in Takahashi Hiroshi's delinquent universe. Fellow fans can always correct me or add to the list. This is just my personal recommendation. Click on the underlined titles to read it!
Crows x Worst Reading Guide
Crows: The golden classic and first chronological work featuring the Suzuran delinquent school.
Sono Go No Crows: Optional one-shot set after Crows and before Worst. You don't have to read it, but it offers a smoother transition, and you get to know some characters in advance.
Worst: Continuation to Crows, although with a new protagonist and new characters.
Saigo no Worst: Sequel, takes place one year after Worst has ended.
Side-stories/Gaidens/Other works
Crows ZERO: Prequel to Crows, although written years later. Different cast, and you won't find it online because no group has scanlated/translated it. You can watch the live action movie instead.
Crows ZERO II: Follow-up to the first part, and covers the second movie. Drawn by Tetsuhiro Hirakawa (Author of Clover, another delinquent manga I recommend).
Crows EXPLODE: Sequel to the Crows ZERO saga. Also drawn by Tetsuhiro Hirakawa, only found it translated to Vietnamese.
Crows Gaiden - Katagiri Ken Monogatari: One-shot featuring the Crows ZERO protagonist.
Crows Gaiden: Collection of short stories featuring some of the Crows characters.
Crows Gaiden: Linda Linda: Backstory of Crows character Rindaman in his middle-school years.
Harumichi: Side-story featuring Crows protagonist, Bouya Harumichi.
Next Crows Supplementary Story: Crows side-series, not translated. I have the Japanese raws if you're interested.
Worst Gaiden: Backstories for some of the characters (such as the Umehoshi brothers).
We are the Worst!: Character databook. Couldn't find it online, but I have the Japanese raw scans if you're interested.
Worst Gaiden Dokuro: Backstory of Kawachi Tesshou, only the one-shot was translated to English.
Worst Gaiden Mr. Zetton: Sequel about Zetton becoming a high-school teacher
QP: Set in the same Crows x Worst universe, but it deals with actual gangs and not high-school characters.
QP Gaiden: Collection of side-stories
Kiku: Takahashi Hiroshi's first delinquent manga predating Crows x Worst.
Jank Runk Family: Takahashi Hiroshi's newest series (ongoing), a crossover with OREN's survival manga (included it because it does have delinquent vibes).
Crows Ladies: Genderbend AU
Tumblr media
Plus a nice visual guide I found while searching online translations, it has some extra titles I haven't mentioned

HII! It’s me again, just wanted to ask - I’m very interested about the sunflower mafia au.. ik I already said that but - is toya planning on killing him? Everytime I look back at that mini comic I always wondered that- is Toya working for his dad or anyone ?
HELLO!!! tysm for ur interest in sunflowermafia au 🥹
as for the comic.. yes, more or less! toya's planning to kill him, deeming that akito knows about his mafia presence and is one blink away from connecting the dots, toya plans to get rid of him as quick as possible
but what actually happens might differ, since i do have a plot ready, i just don't want to spoil everyone about it yet 🌻🥀 the comic is still continuing, i'm just trying to find the perfect time to draw it again!
and also, regarding the person he works under.. i did plan them to be anonymous, however the most logical decision is to make harumichi the leader but who knows! maybe it'll change in the future ^_^

This is a very personal opinion, but I think my main issue with Touya's writing is that Harumichi issue was resolved way too fast.
And by too fast I don't necessarily mean too easily. I'm fine with Harumichi stepping away and being fairly easy to persuade, if his character calls for it. I mean that there was no reason for that to be Touya's first ever focus event.
First focus events in proseka are kind of a mess all around. They were still obviously testing out the waters, which is why they tend to me shorter and messier in general, if not outright clashing with further arcs. Hell, An1 was retconned to hell and back, so it's pretty clear they did not have all the arcs planned from the very beginning.
Back to Touya. Solving his main problem in Touya1 has left him kind of on stand-by mode until The First Concerto, tackling his other issues in the meantime. In a way, Touya's arc is very musical because it is about feelings, which inherently ties into topics of musicality and artistry; I don't think Same Dreams, Same Colors, and especially not Walk On and On to be "empty" or pointless events, but they feel disjointed in the grand scheme. Touya seems to have gotten over his trauma and heal, then in The First Concerto we see that one wasn't entirely true; that retrospective makes SDSC and WOaO lose some of their impact.
If it were up to me, Touya's arc about recovery and finding out new things and how that influenced his feelings and him convincing Harumichi to fuck off should have been happening simultaneously. In other words, mending things with his father should have been his arc throughout his focus events, and not solely something that happened in Touya1 and quickly left behind.
This especially has potential when you consider how differently Touya and Harumichi approach music in general, and how different the understanding of "essence of music" is between them - and how, ultimately, Touya is much closer to it than his father is. I wouldn't want it to be a redemption arc, but I would want Harumichi to he proven wrong over the course of it, and finally concede because of it.
This doesn't mean Harumichi would have to keep being a hypercontrolling abuser for longer, I don't take pleasure in needless angst. I think if you just take away the aspect of him understanding that Touya's music has value for him and push it forward like three events further and just let Touya do whatever he wants for other reasons from Harumichi's perspective in the meantime, with them finally coming to some sort of understanding in The First Concerto, it would make for a much more exciting character arc.
But hey what do I know.

When I discovered Sailor Moon (the show, not the character) as a queer teenager, the moment I found out about Sailor Neptune and Sailor Uranus, they had my heart. On the other hand, it seems like the Inner Scouts speak more to you. I was wondering if you could talk a bit about what appeals to you about the Inners? I've been curious about this for ages but every time I tried to ask, it always sounded so confrontational, like JUSTIFY WHY YOU LIKE MERCURY AND NOT NEPTUNE NOW, NOW! For the record, I think the Inners are awesome as well (especially Mercury ♥ 🌊) and I'm just interested in hearing different perspectives.
When I was a young teen and first got into Sailor Moon, I was also obsessed with Uranus and Neptune! I drew so much art of them and they were extremely formative for me as a young queer person desperate for representation.
As I have revisited the fandom now in my mid 30's, I'm still enamored with HaruMichi, but I have also become a lot less interested in monogamous ships, in general. After a while, it feels repetitive and predictable. When it comes to poly ships, they are all so situationally and emotionally unique, that makes them extremely interesting and challenging to me to write.
I've also grown a lot more fond of the main characters (aka the inner senshi) because I neglected them most of my childhood in favor of focusing soley on HaruMichi.
I think there's an amazing potential for a very interesting poly ship with the inner senshi, especially as they all basically exist to love/protect one person, their princess. (Although admittedly, Usagi is my least favorite and the least interesting to me, lol.) I like all the different dynamics they have with each other one-on-one and as a unit.
I'm particularly interested in the ships that barely get any attention. Back in my day, Inners-shipping was basically a free-for-all with no one ship dominating the others.
But when it comes to Inners ships, fandom these days is basically just Reinako and MakoAmi, which is fine but not super compelling to me compared to their much more layers and complex group dynamic. I'm particularly interested in the one-on-one dynamics that get slept on in favor of the focus on Reinako/Makoami, like... what about Mina/Mako? Rei/Ami? A Rei sandwich between Usagi and Mina?
Romance/shipping aside, there's so much to dive into with their shared experiences and trauma. Child soldiers who have died for each other, over and over and over. Through multiple lifetimes, even. That kind of bond is compelling.
As for HaruMichi, I am actually planning a comic about them with my wife right now, potentially to become a series of short comics about the Outers family. Rather than focusing on HaruMichi as a couple, I really like thinking of them in terms of the whole family with Hotaru as their adopted kid and Setsuna being a co-parent (and who knows... maybe more?)

First love
First of all I don’t remember the last time I’ve loved something this much. I think it wouldn’t be an exaggeration if I said it was the best thing I’ve ever watched.
I absolutely loved the characters and their development. I loved how the plot was shown in nonlinear time – thanks to which we could really see the whole story from different perspectives.
I loved the ending and even though it was such a happy one, it kind of wrecked me. And I absolutely have to post my whole analysis of the show because ‘First Love’ is the only thing I’ve been able to think about for the past three days.
(spoiler alert!)
Yae Noguchi
The first character we meet seems like the nicest person in the world. Of course we don’t know her tragic backstory then but we can feel there is some mysterious lingering in her preception of the world around her. She’s a single mother, she works hard day and night. We slowly get to know everything about her life and honestly it’s all so sad. I mean her relationship with Harumichi is lovely. I adore how she sees him as the wild one compared to her. She has her dreams and she’s so invested in all the things she does. She’s courageous – she’s the one who confesses her feelings first (and my beloved dumbass Harumichi doesn’t even get it). She is ready to work hard to get what she wants. She got into university and I think she was really happy there. Of course then the worst happens. And I feel like that accident was the beginning of the most miserable period of her life. She’s always been ambitious, she had plans. And all of the sudden she’s reduced to being a stay-at-home mother and a housewife. Her husband, who seemed like a good guy, turns to be, well, an asshole. His mother treats her horribly. They have no respect for her. She’s kind of treated like housekeeper more than a part of the family. So she struggles, but becames herself again – and takes the control back. Yes, it’s hard. Yes, she has to work night and day. But she’s ready to do it. And she loves her son unconditionally, she’s ready to give him everything he needs. And when he needs to have better care – she’s ready to give him up even though it kills her. She gets back on her feet, she moves away from her mother.
I absolutely love Yae. I love how determined she is, I adore that she really tries, even though she has no hope for herself. And I love that she’s ready to do everything she feels she should.
Yae’s dreams
Something that makes me really sad is that she has to wait for so long to actually make her dreams come true. She has always known what she wanted to do in life, but couldn’t accomplish it for twenty years. She feels like a person with no past cannot have a future. And that’s how she sees herself –she lost so many precious things – not only love and memories, but also (or maybe mainly) the abilities to do what she wants. She didn’t graduate. She was a housewife so she had no experience in any kind of work. Yae from before the accident had the whole world standing open before herself. Yae after the accident has limited choices and no hope for a change.
But it’s so sad that she’s losing it all and her mother does nothing. She’s grieving after a perfect daughter she’s lost like she’s the actual victim. Yae’s mother let her own grief and pain hurt her daughter. She was blaming Harumichi for the accident, because he wasn’t able to protect her. And because of that she punished them both. She made Harumichi believe for so many years that he’s the responsible one. She forced him to dissapear from Yae’s life, she would let her know about him. She preferred the surgeon guy because he had more money. She’s hoping she made the right choice - but honestly she didn’t. She shouldn’t have been making the choices at all. They were not hers to made.
What makes me so angry is that Yae never got back to the university. I wonder why her mother never encouraged her. I’m angry that she had to through all that pain just because her mother decided what’s best for her.
But nothing makes me happier than those small parallels. Teenage Yae greeting imaginary passengers on their flight to Reykiavik and adult Yae being a flight attendant in Iceland. Teenage Harumichi saying that he’s going to be a pilot with a beautiful flight attendant as a wife and they ending up flying together at the end. Their dreams really did come true at the end.
Harumichi Namiki
The literal love of my life. I mean this is the guy who becomes your fictional crush and makes every guy in reality look sad. He’s the epiphany of taking control ovet your own life. And an exellent example of ‘you can’t change him but he will change for you if he cares’ and honestly, damn. Their origin story, their meet cute, whatever you want to call it – my dude was swept off his feet. He saw a girl reading a book and he decided to change his entire life for her. It was, as he stated, laughably easy. He went from a textbook badboy to learning nonstop for several weeks because of the chance he saw on the horizon. He would do absolutely everything for her. He became a pilot for her. His whole life was dedicated to her. She was the energy that fueled his life.
And then she got ripped away from his life completly abruptly. And then at the slightest chance of finding her again – he regained all hope.
I love how he always states that he believes in fate but at the same time he knows that he can’t just sit and wait for the good fings to happen. He uses any chance life throws at him. And everything he could control – he did.
Harumichi’s character development
What’s interesting about Harumichi is a long way he came during his life. From a badboy to a wild student to the military cadet and pilot to the security guard. I love how visible it is that his main reason of being is protecting others. From protecting his sister to protecting Yae and his country. But what’s also worth mentioning is his belief in love – or actually – the way he loves. We see him as a teenager, eager to give love, full of energy. Then, as an adult, we see him with Tsunemi – he’s more conscious, more careful. Less involved. I thought it’s just something that comes with age. But then he finds Yae again and all his energy and involvement come back. I feel like for those twenty years he was passive about his life and work and love. I’m sure he cared for Tsunemi but she couldn’t wake that flame inside of him. And then he became active again because he regained the hope for reuniting with Yae again. And I’m not even sure if it had a romantic purpose at the beginning. I don’t think he wanted to break up with Tsunemi just because he saw Yae. But then it turned out that he didn’t have a choice – Tsunemi wasn’t the one. Maybe in a world without Yae she would do, but not in this reality. That’s why I don’t think that Harumichi broke up with her to be with Yae. I think he thought he had to because he couldn’t love her as he should have.
Their love
I love how Yae’s and Harumichi’s relationship is actually so calm and peaceful. They don’t argue. They don’t have that will-they-won’t-they dynamic. They just love each other and it’s completly pure. I also love the scene after the end credits when they are shown together while walking. Notice how Harumichi constantly grabs her hand, touches her, kisses her. Like he’s afraid that if he doesn’t hold her she’ll disappear. And she’s so happy that he’s back in her life. That there is somebody that really actually loves her. Geeez, I’m so happy that they found each other.
The role of fate and the role of timing
Fate is a tricky thing – some people sit and wait for the good things to happen. But it seems like the characters from the ‘First Love’ know it doesn’t work that way. Yes, you can call it fate that Harumichi saw Yae on the train and then again in the exam room. But everything he did later came from him. He took care of everything that was in his control. And when there was nothing more to do, he had to let fate work again – and it did. They went to the same high school. Fate worked again twenty years later sending them both to Sapporo and making them, in a way, cross their paths. And yet again Harumichi didn’t wait for fate to reunite them. He was listening to the taxi announcements for hours for god’s sake! Life (or fate – whatever you want to call it) gave him the chance to rescue her this time and he did, hurting himself in the process.
The fate did it again with Uta finding Harumichi in Iceland, but Yae actively chose to find him. She made her own choice not waiting for a coincidence.
What’s also worth mentioning is that Harumichi actively played the role of ‘fate’ for Tsuzuru and Uta – he made it possible for them to meet.
The worst part of all that is timing. And we know that timing is a bitch.
So many important things happend in the wrong moment. Harumichi coming to Yae only to find out that she’s pregnant. Yae falling in love with him again when he was engaged. Her confessing her feelings after he decided to take a break and go away. Yae regaining her memories only after Harumichi left. Her deciding to take back control of her life and dreams and pandemic streaking.
But at the same time so many good things happened because of the bad timing – for example Harumichi’s leaving let Tsuzuru find the CD player that gave Yae her memories back. If he had never decided to leave she might have not get them back.
For such a long time I was trying to understand why he didn’t want to be with her when she confessed her feelings. But I think I get it now. He would have to live knowing she doesn’t remember a big part of their shared history. And I think it could be heart shattering. He had to actively choose to leave her again despite their shared love for each other because it would be more painful for him to be with her even though it’s the thing he wanted his whole adult life.
And then she regains her memories. And she comes after him. And my little heart is so happy and sad at the same time when I think of all the things they had to live through to find each other again. But at the same time all that happend – good or bad – made it possible.
The normal life shown in the series
I think it’s something worth mentioning. Every person in the show has their own normal life. And I think it’s so important that the role of the characters isn’t reduced to the love story only. We see them working, eating, partying, cooking, studying, even commuting to work. It seems so natural but at the same time I feel like the western fil/show makers sometimes forget that the normal life is also worth exploring and showing. Characters crying and then going to work in the morning like nothing happened. Cooking for loved ones. Sitting with a giant plushie (another reason for my love for that dude). The mention of living in the pandemic! Seeing it from perspective actually made me cry because I got reminded of that period that I actually struggled with. And so did Yae. It’s so precious to me to see characters being normal people.
The music
I feel like the song ‘First Love’ will always make me cry from now on. It always played in such moments in the show that it now gives me the lingering feeling of sadness and happiness at the same time anytime I hear it. And for that I am eternally grateful.
All in all, loved the show. It’s the best thing I’ve ever seen. If it was a book I would literally sleep with it underneath my pillow (like Alexander the Great with his copy of Illiad). I can’t believe I accidentally discovered such a treasure. If you didn’t watch it yet I cannot recomment it enough. If you did – you know what I mean.

Found Family Tournament Round 1 Part 9 Group 42
Propaganda and further pictures under the cut
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Because You Made Me Smile (or Extended Tenma Household): Tsukasa Tenma, Toya Aoyagi (& Saki Tenma)
Aurinko Crime Family: Juno Steel, Buddy Aurinko, Vespa Ilkay, Peter Nureyev, Rita, Jet Sequliac & the Ruby 7
Submissions are still open!
Because You Made Me Smile (or Extended Tenma Household):
I would put saki here too but she's not as relevant to toya and tsukasa's relationship. Basically Toya's dad is a huge BITCH (his name is literally harumichi. who carries a child around in their womb for 9 months only to name it harumichi. I'd cry.) who has forced Toya to play classical music for since he was old enough to reach the piano i guess a d toya HATE classical music and he meets tsukasa at school and they become friends and toyer tells stew caca about his dad and kasa's like "well actually u should do what you want. fuck what he says." toya then latches onto him as if he were his big brother
let me explain a little thing real quick before i say this next thing; project sekai has 3 sets of 2 biological siblings, those are the Shinonomes, the Hinomoris, and the Tenmas. Each family got events exploring their dynamic with their siblings.
I think it's worth mentioning that in the Hinomoris' and Shinonomes' events, any other characters that weren't virtual singers got 3* or 2* cards, while in the Tenmas' event, Toya also got a 4* just like Tsukasa and Saki.
okay so there's this boy named tsukasa tenma right. worlds #1 big brother and also universal big brother this guy cannot stop gaining siblings it's crazy he's a wonderful funny loud and optimistic guy. and there's also his little sister saki tenma. very cheerful and always tries to smile and wants to live her life to the fullest bc she was hospitalized for most of her younger years. they both love each other very much. then there's this boy named toya aoyagi who the siblings meet sometime as children and they all connect due to all three of their connections to playing piano. toya's very polite and serious and kind of oblivious but very kind. toya grows to despise classical music and playing piano & violin due to his father's very strict and harsh nature. at some point tsukasa tells toya that it's okay for him to do what he wants even if others disapprove. this gives toya the courage to quit doing classical music and do something for himself and due to this he is able to meet his partner and start doing street music which he ACTUALLY enjoys doing. toya looks up to tsukasa very much and tsukasa canonically thinks of him as a little brother. he also lends saki the plushies he wins from claw machines and worries and cares about her condition very much and while they're not as close as toya is with tsukasa due to how often she was hospitalized as a child they still care about each other deeply.
basically tsukasa and saki are a better family for toya than his actual family and. and. i'm inconsolable about them <//3

Aurinko Crime Family:
Queer! Space! Pirates!! It's kinda your typical "it started as a heist but along the way we became family" story, but in space. And not a single person is cishet. An ex private investigator and sharpshooter with only one eye, his very cool and smart hacker assistant and ex lover thief who he ran away from, because he has problems basically get adopted by a cool crimeboss lady with a metal stomach, her wife, who is a doctor and also generally pro stabbing people, and a big dude, who gives great, but often cryptic advice. Oh, also a car that isn't a car. All of their dynamics are awesome. Buddy definitely has mom vibes. Juno and Vespa definitely have a sibling dynamic. The movie nights. Aaaaaaaahhh!

can i ask why you ship gojo and megumi? not as wank or as a callout or anything like that, I promise (especially since I'm sure we both ship far more morally reprehensible couples than that lol), I'm just curious as to what you see in them as a ship!
hi anon! love your disclaimer lmao, it's so funny to see people get all up in arms about me "shipping" gofushi when i literally ship like. johndean.
i wouldn't say that i Ship gojo and megumi, or at least not the way people ship like kawoshin or harumichi or whatever other lovely romantic daydream-material ship: i feel like people in contemporary fandom use the word shipping in two ways, to indicate a couple they find healthy and semi-aspirational and cute together (like how people in this fandom ship itafushi or kirakari) or to indicate two characters whose existing dynamic they want to dig into and dissect (like how people "ship" waltjesse or gendo and rei).
me and my friends definitely belong to this second category wrt how we engage with gofushi: their dynamic is foundational not just to the story, but most importantly to understanding gojo and megumi as individual characters at all. gojo canonically kidnapped and groomed megumi after killing his father, bought and indoctrinated him into the jujutsu world as well as his own cult of personality, and demanded he become as strong as him (like geto once was) while deliberately hiding information about megumi's own technique; megumi, on the other hand, has practically never known another "paternal" authority figure besides gojo, they grew together, and as such he sees him as not only the strongest and his teacher the way the other students do, but also as someone he knows personally and whom he consistently relies on to help him (this moreso re: the status quo at the beginning of the story), and as a benefactor who saved his life and to whom he owes a large debt.
granted, none of this is necessarily indicative of a sexual dynamic, just a deeply exploitative and unhealthy mentorship; however, when you couple that with all the countless references to gojo being a creep or sketchy or too-touchy (and the multiple akutami-written jujusanpo where he preys on students, if you consider those to be canon-compliant), as well as akutami's taste in media that inspired jjk (leon the professional, satanic sweet, etc), an implication starts shaping itself pretty clearly and starkly if you have the eye for it, and me and my friends definitely have that eye.
as yall know i don't care for anti/proshipper discourse, i think it's stupid and reductive, but i would say that my little gang approaches gofushi in a way that's antithetical to the proshipper ethos: i have seen how proshippers ship gofushi, and it's mostly "omg aren't they soulmates so cute!! same age au where they kiss and hold hands <3 student teacher romances are adorable!!", while what we say is essentially "gojo abused his power to groom and molest megumi his entire life and nobody in jujutsu society batted an eye". i ship gofushi the way i would ship humbert and dolores, or akio and anthy, or fucking leland and laura, which is to say not at all: all of these are horrible abusive dynamics i like to rotate in my head, and whose "victim" characters i empathize with and dearly love.

VBS "The First Concerto" Event Story Summary
Tumblr media
Feature : VBS members + Ken + Harumichi (Touya's father) + Souta + Mida + Arata
Summary (Twitter) :
Tumblr media
Summary (Mine) : Story started around the same time with Akito centric story here, while Akito tasked to spread VBS recognition, Touya tasked to create a song contains everyone personality. So as Touya too earnest somehow (lol), he interview the other three just like 4-koma here.
He try to create and slumped somehow, asked his father some advice and just tell Touya that his songs doesn't have a pride on it since past Touya already running away from classic music and knowing that Touya regret it because he can't do anything about it...
PS : I kinda suprise Touya VA screaming similar like Ena...
Hearing Touya scream, his father console him by saying his 12 years classic music isn't all about regret and running away but can make his own street-classic new song.
After finish making the music, he show it to VBS and Souma then declare VBS gonna surpass Rad Weekend in their next event
With this story, I'm sure An and Kohane centric story will spin around their next event preparation just like this one.
Card Time and Place :
Tumblr media
Scene around the time Touya still gathering information to create a song, Touya asked Kaito advice for it
Tumblr media
Scene after Touya overthinking his songmaking jobs and almost collapse at Sekai. Meiko find him at ways to cafe and asked him to drink water and rest a bit.
Tumblr media
Scene after Touya got courage by his father words, he finally make a song which can surpass Rad Weekend.
Rarity : I don't remember An doing something except interview things at 4-koma so I kinda lament not getting 4* Kaito here (lol). On other side, this is the first time as I remember that any Akito/Touya VBS centric event that doesn't have the other one as 4*
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sophisticated feels theme card I guess, but it didn't attract my eyes so easy skip for me~

well now i have to copy paste and replace ‘tenoh haruka’ with ‘michiru kaioh’ obviously Character asks: that other one; 1, 3, 11, 16
LMAO ok you know what that's fair! (character ask meme)
Why do you like/dislike this character: Michiru aka Sailor Neptune while not in my Top Characters Of All Time is ALSO tattooed on my body because she's perfect she's flawless she's beautiful she's a FUCKING ASSHOLE and gives zero shits and all of that together is so good to me personally. I'm a sucker for a femme who is just here for her girlfriend and the rest of you can fucking eat it while also giving the appearance of a total gracious princess. Again I live in the 90s anime where Michiru was upfront about burning the world down if Haruka lives and if THAT ain't peak gay romance I don't know what is.
Least favorite canon thing about this character: I'm not a fan how in the manga she's kinda brushed aside to be sort of a prop or echo for Haruka. She's not given a lot of depth and individual character there imo but the manga isn't my favorite canon to live in so I don't.
Would you date this character: listen it would not be honest of me to say no because my past two relationships a) started over our mutual love of HaruMichi and b) were with women that shared a ton of character traits with Michiru. Michiru is not my EXACT type but she's pretty fucking close to it.
What's your least favorite ship for this character: Does Michiru get shipped with anyone else??? I guess Michiru with Mamoru but that's mostly as a consolation prize if someone ships HarUsa which. See Last Ask.

smc3 recap
Infinity was peak Naoko in my opinion, she had figured out her shit, and delivered such a complex yet complete story line, that leaves you breathless.
everyone knows at this point that I had always wished to see my darling HaruMichi in the crystal 1-2 art style, and that smc3 robbed me personally from Haruka’s fashion, but overall infinity remains my top of all sailor moon arcs.
90s fucked it over so I’m not touching THAT.
youtube
here’s also their song, in which they are being unapologetically horny for each other, as they should
also smc3 served us their morning after scene that was in the manga, and shielded forever that, you know what? they fucking, deal with it
LOL
it is the equivalent of the usamamo kitchen scene from the blackmoon arc

HI. HELLO. YES IT'S ME THE FA AU POLYSHO PERSON. it's funny because olysho's like a small amount of the au. like the main character is ichika. and the main ship is ichihona. so silly right all this chaos is going down.
miku is an actual existing character here because i love the virtual singer they need to be added in more fantasy aus for god's sake and not just the humans. her design is the sakura cherry tree 1.5 colorfes card! her hair used to be blue but she dyed it and her eyes are always closed. she's a mysterious magic lady that is probably the narrator idk haven't figured that out yet *CUES THE KAGAMINE TWINS THAT BOTH PINE OVER HER* yeah she saved the two from dying lolololol
yeah, rui sorta made a fancy potion allowing nene to walk on land. along with other mermaids. aka luka lolz!!! the reason he was able to cure saki is because he practically did all the work before,, he saved luka from dying.
KAITO WHITE DAY MEIKO AN WEDDING SHOOT THING KAIMEI KAIMEI KAIMEI KAIMEI KA- (i am so normal about them)
ACTUAL summary of the main plot is: there are two kingdoms. one in the mountains cold brrr (aoyagi kingdom), and the other not cold near the ground (tenma kingdom). they r in war. they were always fighting but like a cold war (pun intended). BUT when the tenmas took toya from the aoyagis (AS DESERVED) they started actually being in war yeah. ichika used to live in the mountains under the aoyagi's rule but she ran away lolololz!!! and then met honami, a girl who lived alone. she was a girl she was a girl this lesbian story will change your perception of love.
also akitoya but akito almost dies (WHY DO THE BOYFRIENDS KEEP ON ALMOST DYING HELP) (it's aoyagi harumichi's fault) (well only for akito's almost death) (rui just got poisoned lololol!!!)
mafuyu finds her true self having to take care of both this knight that got stabbed and this magic alchemist dude that might've gotten himself in a jiffy. kanade is a reseacher for the knights. ena cursed herself and now has horns. mizuki is a knight. they cause chaos occasionally
minoharu canon, we all die, so much lore, sorry for ranting about the sillies again.
HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT ????
Mafuyu watching Tsukasa Rui Emu and nene pine is so goofy,,, but on the other hand they’re all so endearing to him,,, he’s so happy when they all finally get together it’s so silly,,,
ICHIKA AND HONAMI CHANGING MY PERCEPTION OF LOVE FORWVER AND EVER !!! I’d like to think Saki is like. Seventh wheeling at this point. She’s gotta see Tsukasa and the gang, toya and akito, ichika and honami, whatever the hell Mafuyu is doing w his self-discovery, ect ect ect. She is going CRAZY !!!
minoharu being the token “we have our shit together” couple is so funny to me. War and violence and then BAM !!! Lesbians
also akito and toya !!! Akito originally only saving toya bc “well it’s orders and Tsukasa wants him saved so *shrug*” to “he’s actually kind of growing on me” to “I would lay down my life for this man.” All while toya is doing his little silly thing
ALSO YOU DIDNT MENTION THEM BUT AN AND KOHANE ??? I’d like to think they also have their own “love but we can’t” vibe where the both of them are from rival families in the tenma kingdom and m. Boom. Lower one’s eyes moment and they just start dancing in the ballroom. Everyone learns love is love 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈
Kaimei in the background is so silly to me like they’re trying to help all these children and they’re also in love *explosion*

(since jay asked for thoughts) for all the members: who's the person outside of your unit that you're closest to? (for jay: ex. would be toya and tsukasa, kanade and honami, etc.)
also, do any of you know about the aoyagi family at all?
[ Hi! Unfortunately the first question isn't very answerable because I'm trying to make this unit as independent as possible (although they do have a connection with my other oc units that will possibly be mentioned later), so the chance of any KWKO member knowing any canon proseka OC in person is very low. This might change in the future though! As for the second question... ]
🦊: It's hard not to know about them if you're in any way involved with classical music in Japan.
🌸: Precisely so. Although Harumichi Aoyagi is more famous as a composer overseas, I don't assume any of us have ever actually performed any of his works. As a composer, he is fiercely protective of his image.
🦋: We haven't met personally or even contacted him or his sons, but considering the way classical music is played in our competition, I doubt things would go well, even if we tried...
🐚: I agree. It's best to keep our distance. Mother warned me to stay away from that family, and I trust her judgement.
(🍁 and 🪁 appear deep in thought.)

WELCOME TO DAILY TOYA!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is an account dedicated to posting Aoyagi Toya every day!
Tumblr media
Some basic stuff: This account will not be posting anything ship related. I love ships but that area can get really nasty very quickly so I feel like it's best to avoid that area.
I very much head canon Toya as a Tenma, if you don't that's perfectly fine but please keep that in mind.
DNI if you are an NSFW account, I'm an adult but Toya is not.
Tumblr media
Tags:
#Toya aoyagi: this is Toya stuff.
#Daily Toya Mod Speaks: me speaking my opinions that no one probably cares about
#daily toya ask box: for the ask box. This tag will probably rarely show up.
#harumichi hating hours: for whenever I want to shit on Toya’s dad, I know that in canon Toya loves and forgives him but I am not Toya and I need him dead. #Toya neso: if you want pictures of my Toya neso this is the tag!
Tumblr media
Some more stuff:
Mafuyu and Haruka are my two other big favs so if you see them a lot here it’s because I can’t shut up about them either.
In addition to this Nene and Shiho are in my top five and I also really love Mizuki, Airi, Tsukasa and Honami so be prepared to also see them here.
I’m a very opinionated person, especially when it comes to music and Toya. I might be critical of Toya’s writing from time to time because I feel like Sega neglects him a lot even if the First Concerto fixed so much for me.
I’m not the biggest fan of Toya’s dynamics with Nene or Rui, if you like them that’s fine I’m just letting you know that you probably shouldn’t expect me to post about them together.
