So, I may be a day late, but I still want to make a little post for Simblr Gratitude Day 💜

To start off, my memory is pretty bad, so I just know I'm gonna miss tagging people... and honestly, there's way more people on here I'm grateful for than tumblr's limit of 50! So I'm starting out addressing everyone.

To everybody that likes or reblogs my posts, sends comments or asks, shares their sims with me, or uses my cc: I love you. Yes, you! I may be bad at answering back sometimes, but I cherish every interaction I get- a lot of the times they have me kicking my feet and giggling, or sometimes I'm barking and scaring my cat. Asks really make my day and even when I don't reply so fast, they warm my heart. Asks I've gotten on here have genuinely helped me in my dark times, and renewed my faith in this community as a whole, because some of you are just so freaking amazing and kind. Especially now with everything I've been going through, sims and being here has remained a comfort for me because of you all. Even if there's speed bumps from time to time, I truly believe there's more good here than bad, and y'all should be proud of yourselves and your capacity for endless kindness. Thank you!

Alright so ive been seeing this going around, the lack of paint on Sam in ENG . I dont want to start shit though, im saying this as a disclaimer. And i want to say this as controversial as it may be: it was for the best probably.

Voodoo has a history of being portrayed as dark magic which is horrible. Voodoo is a religion not satanic not dark magic. It is as much of a religon as Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, Judaism, etc. Respect it. I like the bone paint too, it looked cool, but clearly its more cultural appropriation rather than appreciation on Sam (voodoo practicers if you can please tell me if ive said something wrong).

"Cancel culture" isnt just an "sjw" thing, its used to talk about problems. Saying "twst shouldve just stayed in jp" bc of the problematic aspect isnt good. We have to address problematic issues with culture and racism. Twst has racist aspects you cannot deny that. It doesnt mean you cant enjoy twst at all, but stay openminded and listen to minorities when they speak. Cultures arent "aesthetics" :/

What made you ship it?

Ok this is actually a weird ass answer, and honestly even weirder considering the order I watched the show in, ie I started with season 7 and wrapped back around (bc I'd seen seasons 1-6 a decade ago but didn't remember details) so this is one of the last episodes I watched, but it was the scene in The Grim Reaper where Hawkeye is ranting to BJ about his impending probable court martial and BJ is sipping a martini and telling Hawkeye dude has an open and shut case and Hawkeye says "You know you'd make a hell of a witness for the prosecution" and BJ's like "you'll make a better one." Then BJ gets mad about an unrelated jacket dispute and leaves, and this scene is never brought up again.

It made me sit up and go "what the fuck" and immediately start wanting to write fic and meta and rewatch more of their scenes etc. It was just so interesting because it was clearly a purposeful writing choice, Hawkeye draws attention to how shitty BJ was being, but it's never actually addressed or followed up on. And that's what made me recognize that it's a solid, deliberate yet almost entirely uncommented on pattern of their relationship. And I'm very intrigued by that.

What are your favorite things about the ship?

The dysfunctionality. BJ's weird mind games and jealousy and condescending refusal to emotionally support Hawkeye. Hawkeye leaving and coming back multiple times. The sense of like... enforced intimacy because they're stuck together in a war zone and they need each other. The replacement marriage jokes and vibes. I'm gonna write a post on this eventually but the way you can genuinely frame BJ's emotional conflict throughout the show as Peggy vs Hawkeye.

All of the above lbr. But to say something different and specific: I don't think Hawkeye would be reticent about adding sex to their relationship if he ever realized BJ isn't straight. The most common take I see is that Hawkeye is afraid of breaking up BJ's marriage or thinks he wouldn't be as good for BJ as Peggy, etc, but I think the only reason he might hesitate is because he knows he'd probably be the one getting hurt, and then I think he'd go for it anyway.

And I wouldn't say this is a given, but I could easily imagine a scenario where he actively tries to break up BJ's marriage and steal him away, particularly if BJ is gay rather than bi, but even just because... I think that's how Hawkeye rolls. We saw him with Carlye and Kyung Soon, we see the way he latches onto campaigns even when he knows they're all doomed to fail - he goes after what he wants, hard. (Though I could see Erin being a reason for Hawkeye not to do that. But if it was just Peggy I don't even think he'd hesitate in trying to seduce him away tbqh.)

I don't endgame ship them because I think they'd be terrible and miserable together, and if they did figure out their issues and chill out and manage to be happy together I'd just be bored so I don't want that anyway. I want an intense relationship followed by a break up.

What would have made you like it?

Honestly... it all comes down to chemistry. Their vibes are just not engaging in that happily ever after way to me, I find them boring when they're in sync, and I only find them interesting when they're being toxic and fucked up. So if they were more entertaining when happy together, I'd probably be more inclined to endgame ship them.

Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it?

Like I said, I would love to read like 100k of them having an intense fucked up relationship that crashes and burns epically, I think that would be my ideal Mash fic.

ok anon, i have a lot actually so i'm gonna give you a top 5 list:

biggest one is a rewrite of the first fanfic i ever wrote, which was a HUGE 150k novelization of ocarina of time. actually, it was more of a bastardization (we called these adapts/adaptations on FFN at the time, to distinguish them from novelizations which stuck extremely closely to the source material). i had OCs, i killed off canon characters, i brought people back that should have stayed dead, it was a 14yo girl's first fic and a Whole mess...but it was the fic that got me into fic writing and i'll always love it. many years ago i tried to start a rewrite with my current adult-writer skills, but every time i've tried to get into doing that something has come up that meant it got put on hold. maybe one day...

i've had about 5 gazillion dragon age fic ideas but for some reason i only ever wound up posting little kmeme fills that have now been lost to the sands of time. so no PARTICULAR idea for this one, but one day i would be really happy to write and publish a proper dragon age fic, even if i would get crucified for whatever i write bc the dragon age fandom is just like that. idk, i just feel like it's one of the things i was MOST obsessed with that never wrung a proper fic out of me, so it leaves me with a weird unfinished feeling when i think about it that i'd really like to rectify someday.

(vague killjoys s5 spoilers for this one) ok so johnny from killjoys probably isn't actually aro but what if he really was aro. his whole thing in season 5 with the brainwashing and dutch made me NUTS. like does he love her or does he love her, you know? and i feel like if you're aro and you're literally incapable of that particular kind of love then being brainwashed into feeling that kind of love, along with blurring a really weird line to the person you're closest to, would be an extra level of mindfuckery on top of all of the rest of it. idk, i always really liked dutch and johnny's relationship bc it feels like one of the only examples of qpps i've ever seen outside a fanfic, so i'd really really like to just...write fanfic about it. lol

this is a weird one but i think it would be so fun to novelize dishonored. partially because the way they did daud drives me nuts and i feel like i could fix it and partially because i really like corvo. i wrote a little dishonored ficlet once and really enjoyed it, and realized that it'd probably fun to do like 80k in that pov. unfortunately the two big problems are 1. corvo spends a lot of time alone, so it's a lot of really big dialogue-less sections and 2. most of the supporting cast members are not nearly as fun/memorable as emily corvo and jessamine, so i feel like i'd struggle to make their parts interesting at all, let alone exciting. so it'll likely never happen. but i do daydream! tbh, i'd like to do more game novelizations/"""adaptations""" in general...that's sort of what i was "raised on" fanfic-wise and they were really popular when i first got an internet connection, and i started a lot of them when i was younger, so it'd be really cool to just...go back to doing that!

i had such HUGE problems with alec shadowhunters's characterization and his and magnus's relationship at the end of s2 especially re: one of them being immortal, so before s3 aired and made me hate the entire thing i really had dead ass drafted this ENTIRE fixit where alec gets cursed to age very rapidly, exploiting all his worries about a mortal lifespan beside magnus's immortal one and all his fears of looking old next a lover that will be young forever, and in order to break the curse he has to do some soul-searching about the fact that he was selfish at a few key points in season 2. which isn't a bad thing for character development lol but then they like. never address it! made me nuts! it would have alec-centric which is weird because my favorite characters are actually raphael and magnus, but there you go. highly doubt i'll ever give this one a go since i'm Over shadowhunters but it occupied a significant portion of my waking hours for a long time so i'll always be very sad it never happened.

✨ - what is your newest shiny fic idea?

probably triptych #3, actually (the one that goes in a set after to an angel, love and worship are the same thing & broken road). it's an older idea because i had it last year, but it's the first thing i'm gonna work on after envesseled is all squared away. i haven't forgotten about it! i know a lot of new people followed me for deancas content and were probably really excited about it, but envesseled has been waiting since 2012 and we've been writing it since 2013 so that has to come first. i wrote a little about it here (huge major giant spoiler warning for broken road, i highly rec reading that first lol) but one thing i haven't said about it yet is that even though michael isn't in it at all, the fic will talk about him a lot. i wish i could say more, because i know anyone who was waiting on it has had to be VERY patient, but i don't wanna give it all away before it's even started :(

I’m not sure where you got the idea that I’m "still devoted to" C3, esp since the last piece of art I made for that ship was pre-KTGG -- nearly a year ago. That was also the last time, until recently, that I spoke about C3 at all. So ???

I will admit I didn’t answer that ask very thoughtfully when I originally responded -- mostly bc I assumed by now ppl understood my stance on this issue -- so I went back and edited for clarification. However, if you’d read my about page instead of jumping to conclusions, you’d know where I stood.

But since that clearly didn’t happen, I’ll spell it out for you: I used to ship C3. As of right now, I don’t. However, during the time in which I did, I was in the process of building an extensive backstory AU that I am still very much attached to and enjoy creating content for. It was designed specifically to establish Copia as an outsider -- not a member of the Emeritus family -- which has been my view of him since since day fucking one (x).

One scroll through my blog will show you none of this is new. Copia's underdog status plays a vital role in how I draw, write and headcanon him, as well my general attachment to his character. Sure, you can sit there and claim I dreamt all this up for the purpose of shipping, but you'd also be lying out of both sides of your mouth. If my development of this AU was nothing more than ""justification"" for C3, my blog wouldn't be littered with loads of art and comics focused on the rest of the family and their respective dynamics. (x) (x) (x) Not to mention the countless memes and shitposts that have goddamned nothing to do with any of this.

Anyway, for me, an AU only works if you can establish a very clear departure from what's been described in canon. KTGG presented several plot holes I had never previously considered, and these muddied waters made me unsure of how to continue world building. I don't want to publish anything until there are no surprises left, so until we get more official information regarding this lore, I have temporarily pulled the breaks on this project.

Still, none of this is reason to completely dismantle something I've been working on since 2018. Nor does it suddenly make the material itself "problematic". I should be able to keep my AU (C3 storyline or not) without ppl like you accusing me of being some incest-obessed fujoshi simply bc I chose to view the source material in a way you don't personally like.

From last summer forward, every time I’ve been asked about the topic of my AU, the answer never contained any mention of C3 (x) (x) (x) bc I don't currently ship C3. If by "devoted to" you meant "it's on the back burner and also the stove isn't on" then sure, I'm super devoted.

But even if this weren't the case -- even if the amount of currently unanswered questions didn't bother me and I plowed ahead with my story no holes barred, what exactly would my crime be? Why would an AU created to explore the non-canon backstories of Copia (a Catholic orphan) and Papa 1 (his unrelated mentor) suddenly become problematic just bc once in a blue moon a scene appears in which Copia has a boyfriend? Considering all content I've made for C3 sees them as completely unrelated and has also been 100% SFW, what line have I crossed? I know my lane. I'm not mlm (I'm not wlw either, which is what you're trying to peg me as) so I would never create explicit content for a community to which I don't belong. But if you think LGBT+ folks can only make material tailored to their specific identities in order to not be fetishy, then I've got some fuckin news for you and you're not gonna like it.

Damn near everyone in this fandom has created some sort of AU -- whether that be a world where they self-ship, a universe in which none of the Papas died, or, I dunno, one full of dragons and dinosaurs :-) The fact that you're specifically honing in on my AU with insane and disgusting out-of-left-field accusations tells me everything I need to know about both you and your motives, so listen very closely: there is nothing wrong with creating an AU that diverts from canon. Despite what you think, viewing Copia as unrelated to the Emeritus family is pretty goddamned normal around here. And considering Tobias obviously wanted us to think of him this way (and let us do so for over a year and a half) it's easy to see why so many ppl prefer that concept to the story we'll probably get.

i do go by Fidan as usual, well bc that’s my name xD another nickname, though it is rather a title, is Queen, fully the Meme Queen, one of my friends, who is the Meme Lord, always calls me Queen. My closest friend still calls me Frodo.

I think the funniest is in my messenger chat with another good friend, whom i call Hedgehog (looooool u should see him, he does remind me of one). It’s in russian, but i’ll try to explain. I love Star Wars and he knows that, and one time i was constantly talking abt SW, so he changed my nickname in the chat (from i don’t remember what) to ЗВезданутая. Well in translation to Russian, Star Wars is Звездные Войны, which is ЗВ when u abbreviate it. While generally, the word звезданутая is addressed to a person (a female) who acts weirdly, not normally, a little bit haughtily and arrogantly. It also literally might mean “one who hit his head to a star”, i.e. a person whose head was strongly hit :D i also now looked up the translation and it gave me “Star-Burns”. Anyway, my friend, by using the capital З and B, gave the word a Star Wars meaning, like “the one hit by Star Wars”, indicating my obsession with it

For the ask meme: traphawk and hawkbeej?

Brutally honestly, I think Trapper/Hawkeye is the better relationship for Hawkeye, and I ship it more in an endgame sense than BJ/Hawkeye, but at the same time I'm nooooot super interested in it. They're fun to watch, I love their chemistry, I think they'd be happy together and the logistics work better since they live close by and Trapper isn't obsessed with his marriage, it fits better into my own thematic read on the show... but there's not much strife there, yk? There's the one fraught 'why no note' talk they can have, but otherwise they're just a solid good relationship, which is nice, but it doesn't engage me a whole lot.

If I was gonna be into eg a Hawkeye/Trapper longfic then it'd be because I'm into the Hawkeye character study aspect with the ship as a fun bonus, rather than really being invested in the relationship itself, yk? It's good but it's not enough of a draw on its own.

BJ/Hawkeye on the other hand is an absolute trainwreck in my eyes. I don't think they'd ultimately be happy together, and in many ways I think they're actively pretty bad for each other and exacerbate each others' issues. I’m biased because I find their relationship most interesting when the flaws are on display (like Period of Adjustment is one of my favourite episodes of the show solely for this) and so that’s what I focus on and think about more than the times they’re in sync and on the same side, but yeah basically I see them crashing and burning if they get together, and I’m into that.

I think BJ often, inadvertantly and on purpose, tears Hawkeye down. Sometimes it’s in a protective way (why can't you just shut up and put up with hardship like me instead of taking risks trying to change things you can't change), sometimes it’s part of his literally canonical 'taking his feelings out on other people' coping mechanism, sometimes it’s because Hawkeye’s emotional intensity makes him uncomfortable imo, and sometimes I think it’s to try to keep himself at an emotional distance (eg I think that explains a lot of his behaviour in the finale), but yeah, it happens a lot.

Hawkeye, for his part, sometimes gets weird and petty when he’s not the centre of attention (Potter laughing at BJ’s joke more in the OR in Dear Uncle Abdul eg), sometimes doesn’t take BJ’s feelings seriously enough, and sometimes gets overly upset and snaps over small slights. But yeah mostly the issues here are on BJ’s side imo, which is good bc they’re the most interesting part of his character to me lol.

I do think they genuinely love each other and care about each other and like each other as people, but due to their circumstances (meeting in a war that is severely fucking them both up) and clashing personalities it's codependent and sometimes bitter and not very healthy.

I'm also into the idea that BJ is closeted and gay and that's part of what makes him act out, but I don't think coming out will fix him and make him capable of a healthy relationship with Hawkeye, because it's also the deep seated anger over the war, the separation from his family, etc, and he's always gonna have shitty coping mechanisms for his emotions no matter how gay he is unless he addresses it, and lbr he lives in the 50s and knows one decent psychiatrist that he refuses to talk to.

(and also bc I’m just not interested in that lol. if hawkeye/bj was a good mutually healthy happy relationship i’d be bored. I don’t read much of the fic for that reason.)

And I would absolutely love to see the more fucked up side of their relationship explored. I think I could get very invested in a more toxic take on their potential relationship, especially if it ends badly, and I think it's a shame that so few people are into ships like that lol so if I want to see it I'm probably gonna have to write it myself for an audience of me.

Like I swear this isn't BJ bashing or whatever lol, this is genuinely the kind of shit I looooove to read about and if BJ wasn't fucked up I wouldn't have any interest in him at all, like, I'm genuinely more emotionally invested in Hawk/BJ than Hawk/Trapper bc of this.

Basically my ideal Mash fic is like 75k of hawk/bj in a lowkey (emphasis on lowkey, I like subtlety) fucked up relationship that highlights their flaws before they break up and Hawkeye gets back together with Trapper. Absolutely no one else would want to read this because it would piss off most hawk/bj fans and wouldn't satisfy or interest hawk/trap fans but man, it would make me happy.
