I kinda like Thrushpelt! I don't have super strong feelings on him. He reminds me of fernsong in that i think the fandom puts him up on too big a pedestal for being the absolute bare minimum of a "decent guy", but unlike fernsong he has the advantage of feeling like an actual character rather than a cardboard cutout or missed potential. I think the whole idea of bluestar not being able to tell him (some of) her kids are alive and having to watch him go through that grieving process is genuinely tragic and compelling for both parties but i think a looot of that is held up by fanon. Haven't read BP in a while but I don't think it goes super in depth on that.

(in regards to the gender thing, I think he would just be a lot less remembered if anything. Warriors fans have always seemed pretty desperate for a "good dad" character to latch onto- which, fair I guess, because there really aren't many to the point where i have seen people make ridiculous stretches over the years to fit various male characters into that category- and considering that's one of thrushpelt's biggest defining qualities I think that portion of the fandom wouldn't care as much if he was a girl.)

ive said this before, but just. making each other better by making them worse. scary makes linc act out more, and linc encourages scary's rebellion, and they make each other so much worse with their haterisms. but by doing that, they're letting the other be heard and understood in a way they havent felt before, they're being validated and allowed to live through those emotions. and so through that, they can reach a better catharsis and grow to be better :]

It also affected Marisa personality a lot since she was pretty young when that happened so now she's SUPER parano and anxious about her loved ones wellbeing and like she would cling to her friends a lot and always ask them if they're okay bc she always worries they ever..you know. Do what Tsumugi did

BUT I CANT STOP THINKING ABT THE EMOTIONAL TURMOIL NATSUME WOULD GO THROUGH. like given everything theyve been through, all their promises together, baby tsumugi vowing "lets become happy together, you and me" to natsume-chan when they were kids, now even forming a family together, thinking theyve gotten their happy ending, only for the man he loves to then take his own life due to stress and anguish. im very fixated on the feeling of "i wasnt enough/i didnt do enough" natsume would be suffering through. the amount of regret he'd face. maybe wishing he'd been nicer to tsumugi. had put in more effort. given him a stronger sense of love and security while he had the chance, but now hes gone and the only memory he has left of him is marisa. HMM well i'm gonna assume when you ask about "touga and saionji" you mean together? because separately i do think theyre interesting and important characters to the narrative, even if i dont like them as people (though saionji is arguably easier to sympathize with especially as he becomes more genre aware).

i personally do NOT like shipping the two as i feel it goes against the entire point of their dynamic in the series, where touga is clearly the one pulling the strings and manipulating saionji. now, do i think they have Feelings for each other, even if i dislike pairing them…? personally i read it as a one-sided relationship but a really fucked up one. saionji very much reads as a repressed gay guy covering up his sexuality with forceful acts of asserting his masculinity, and its supposed to contrast the way touga's "chivalry" seems to come so naturally. i think the way touga toys with utena and briefly has her conform to femininity as a response to him playing prince early on in the series is a good example to compare with saionji; saionji's expression of masculinity is a crude imitation of touga's, and while touga can actively use his to manipulate others, all saionji can do is tout his over anthy, which is essentially futile because its incapable to manipulate anthy (though we as viewers dont know that yet when we first see saionji which makes the irony of it a looot more interesting on a rewatch).

ANYWAYS ANYWAYS. the inherent power imbalance with touga and saionji's relationship has me believe that while saionji has feelings for touga, touga doesn't reciprocate, BUT he is also well aware of said feelings and uses them to his advantage when manipulating saionji. NOW WHETHER TOUGA EVER CARED ABOUT SAIONJI…really interesting question to think about. i think the most concise way to get my thoughts on that across though, is that: i think he did. but the very structure of relationships at ohtori makes it impossible to ever have a genuine friendship that doesn't rely on exploiting the others fears and weaknesses. even with utena and anthy, the only reason they were able to escape the cycle and acknowledge their relationship as genuine was by admitting they had used and hurt the other. i guess, in a way, touga and saionji are the opposite, and thats why i think the framing of the line "whoever believes in true friendship is a fool" WITH touga and saionji is so important.

theyre a horribly messy, toxic excuse for a friendship but thats kind of the point. they bring out the worst of how ohtori dooms any friendships and genuine relationships you can form within its walls. i think thats what makes it interesting to think about even if they both suck. yeah <3

They usually cut jealousy scenes to a minimum or don't show at all even in pure BL genre, like Lan Wangji (esp Wen Ning thing) or Shen Wei being extremely possessive, bc it can't be explained by brotherhood in their opinion. It's also the reason it was cut from Ultimate. So why here suddenly add scenes like that and with such heavy focus is a mystery, since you've said it's not in the novel. It's not even reasonable jealousy, its just straight up "cant touch my piece of pizza" stuff

Hmm... never thought about it. LOL in the anime the kept LZ being jealous of Wen Ning though xD. Idk in "Sleuth of the Ming" they made a whole open scene out of it. What I've noticed is that their censorship always works differently, and some choices never cease to surprise me, as in who decides what's ok and whats not, bc idk... I understand that stuff like dying for each other, touching, staring can be by many seen as a touching bromance technically, I mean I've seen many ppl watching even cencored BL and being completely oblivious. But there are sometimes some stuff included, that I personally do not get how it can be interpreted as "close friends" and how it passed the censorship. And I do not mean here sucking out poisons, for example (bc I would've done this for my close friends if they were in danger haha).

I'm just judging from the point of view of like me and my sister being very close to the point of a person on the street asking us if we're lesbians lmao (I like still don't get where it came from, hand holding?xD). As I've said before, I guess I see why some ppl who don't have close friends or family would consider some closeness as romantic (since both close bros and couple do some things like spooning for example), but anyone who like saw idk bts members or have a super close bestie or sibling might know that hugging each other to sleep, wearing their clothes or feeding them a jelly bean if their hands are busy doesn't always mean you have any romance there going on, speaking from my expierience, so I just have different view on this "gay stuff vs bro stuff". (like to me the afterlife pingxie scene is actually gayer than any touching they've done, bc like why he didn't see his family or iron triangle whole if they all bros). It's just there are a LOOOT of things that can be indeed considered bro stuff technically (they might not be, but they could), but there is some stuff that just cannot be explained by we're bros, thats all. And this kind of jealousy is one of them.

Bc like a bit of jealousy like "my bestie wanted to go skating with their lover instead of me, so I'm upset we don't spend as much time together" can exist, but if you have problems with someone hitting on your friend, checking him out or even touching him and you don't want them to date anybody, that's another thing, that just means you wanna date them. Wu Xie can hug Fatty to sleep and they can slap each other's butts like me and my sis, but he'd never be jealous seeing someone flirting with him or smth. You know what I mean here? So I get why it's in most situations considered not censorship appropriate and it's cut.

But the most funny thing about the "him being unreasonably jealous" added scenes is the fact that like they actually chose to make him being absurdly jealous. Bc for example in the first version of the scene, Pangzi was trying to dance with Xiaoge, thats why Wu Xie got all worked up:

it was at least somewhat understandable. But in the actual scene from the drama they went and for some reason changed it. Xiaoge pulled Pangzi in, bc he lost direction while being blind, but it was still Pangzi who got reprimanded for that at the end lmao

so it just became even more hilarious, bc Pangzi just grazed him, he didn't even do anything, so I was like will this guy just calm the fuck down, but no, he kept going lolz

I'm just surprised about some of their deliberate choices I guess. So I agree, weird it is.

But Reboot in general was weird, when it comes to the rollercoaster of their choices lmao. They uncensored, then used censorship to uncensor, then censored to cover, its just the first time I saw this weird kind of censorship, like as long as girls are there, jokes like "I won't be able to get it up on a woman" are okay??????? Idk they were just extremely out there almost each episode with all kinds of stuff, that by the end I was like... well, at this point its already pointless. I guess it was just the first time, I've seen it made in such weird way and actually used in a smart way fitted with the character and no just for the sake of it. Adding a scene when he accidentally calls his in their opinion potential love interest his bro's name is actually uncensoring, not censoring, you know what I mean? (since we in fact didn't move anywhere near this realization in the book). Same as what many noticed about them openly making fun of censorship and "out of nowhere appeared feelings and how its not love and whats wrong with idolization if u don't know a person" after NPSS interviews and how it only made everyone fall for what pingxie have more. So it was like... I actually for the first time enjoyed it. It was a pretty genius way of showing Wu Xie's weird internal struggles from that book, which I thought were not possible to show. Bc as you know he's hilariously oblivious there about all of it and same as WWX for example do not even consider such possibility. But I think it's just bc it's not actual BL BL, it's a story where a couple naturally accidentaly came together and turned out to be both guys (even tho one was initially intende to be a girl xD), so its in general complicated. Wu Xie is just borderline lost at this point xD. It's like "Yeah, I want him... What do you mean as in dating? Whats that?". Or like:

- Want a wife?

- No, I want Xiaoge.

- As in you're gay?

- What's a gay?

That's basically how he rolls.

But I do love jealous Wu Xie, I think it's hilarious here, he's like somehow complitely okay with how idiotic he looks and that's very sweet haha.

P.P.S. all in all I really do not get how their censorship works in general at all. Like why Wangxian wedding bows were allowed, but other stuff don't? Hello! I just wanted to ask you if you have any tips for writing a good and enjoyable story! I really love the stuff you posted about your ocs and I'm wondering how you managed to write a story that you enjoy so much- I'm working on a story for my ocs myself but it seems like I'm kinda stuck... I don't really know where I want the story to go or what the characters backstories should be, but you don't seem to have any problems with that kind of stuff- So I was wondering if something specific helped you come up with your story? 👀💧

I'M HONORED THAT YOU WOULD COME TO ME FOR THIS??? At the same time I feel like this one is gonna be REALLY hard to explain since a lot of my ideas come naturally to me. My head is full of so many ideas and I kind of just pour it out on to paper on the spot (I want to become a conceptual artist as a job one day for this reason)

But if I had to say, start with a rough blueprint. Like, what's the story you want to tell? For me I wanted something that had a lot of action, fantasy, adventure, a hero versus villain kind of thing. So, what fundamentals did I need to make a story like that? Well we need a problem, a cause for that problem, and a solution. If you wanna be extra, maybe even a plot twist.

For Order of the Stars, one of the overlying problems is the divide between humans and modern animals, with humans being prejudiced and accepting towards change especially after nearly wiping their entire species out.

How did I want the heroes of the story to reflect that to make the world a better place? Not kidding when I say it took me months of thinking to myself before I finally got a dynamic that worked. Roxie, who is a rat, and Aleron, who is a human. I wanted their relationship to symbolize that animals and humans CAN work together despite their differences. They can work together to create a more equal world while at the same time upholding justice and saving the world like your typical hero would.

but that's just one of the main problems of quite a few underlying problems. I didn't want the story to be a one and done thing you know? Had to have a few themes to keep it going. Example, another theme I wanted to convey is perspective, and that comes to play with the mansion crew in Xedor. Its a house full of criminals and monsters if you will, some who are wrongly accused and others who are openly horribly. Regardless they stick together because they're all under the spotlight as being bad people at surface level, even if some of them aren't. I won't go too far into detail about that though because thats big spoilerinos for plot and some characters that haven't even been introduced online yet.

a looot of thinking needs to be involved. the more you put heart and hard thinking into something the more it shows. It also helps to have outside inspiration! Don't be afraid to take inspiration from content that you love. Of course don't steal or anything but don't be afraid to take notes.

Also help! Help from others can occasionally do wonders. I do a lot of rping with close friends and while those rps don't pertain to the main story I want to eventually tell, it has helped me greatly with world building and character development. Like, there's a location called Neverliv Woods that wouldn't have existed if it weren't for the rp fueling ideas.

I suppose it starts with a blueprint or a draft, but overall just have fun with writing the story. Not all stories stay the same and many are rewritten to flow better before release if that makes any since. Just go crazy! and then do a little clean up afterwards. Second guessing yourself can lead to frustration. Eventually you'll stumble on to something that works and makes you happy! Let your imagination run wild.

I have a friend thats in a toxic relationship. I do my best to help by being there for her when she’s crying and just comfort her cuz I too was in one for 5 YEARS. So I understand how hard it is and how hard it is to leave, but it’s really taking a toll on me. I feel resentful when I knock some sense into her, yet she still goes back and ends up crying back to me when they fight again. I know there is not much I can do... so how do I work thru my own emotions? How do stop giving a fuck so much?

omg the timing of this ask.... like an hour ago i just had a convo with my mom saying that at this point, im good with letting ppl just freestyle lol. literally am in a similar boat where a friend is upset about a toxic relationship shes in but won’t break up with him ... and while yes i really do care and want her to get out of it, i cant force her. so shes gonna do what she’s gonna do n its not my responsibility to try to assert control over her and her actions, even if i feel its for her own good. 

for me, personally, ive had to distance myself from people that just choose to stay stagnant in cycles. i really do believe that some lessons have to be learned the hard way - i certainly know thats true for me lol, someone whos been in some really not good relationships n have completely ignored all signs n red flags for the sake of “love” (cough, cough, emotional codependency and trauma bonding lmaooo). 

i guess to me, its just .. i have already learned these lessons, so why should i now have to ride passenger as they learn it for themselves? youve done all that you can do, and its really helped for the long run. but i think now you need to step back and set your own boundaries. i know its hard because you don’t want to shut her down and her feel alone, but your own wellbeing is important too. take a step back from her, perhaps. tell her how its taking a toll on you. tell her that you love her and want the best for her but can’t keep enabling this. you also.. arent her therapist. n that isnt a fair dynamic to you

a deeply personal fic, this is one i wrote during a really bad depressive slump earlier this year. it was partly vent-fic and partly cope-fic and partly spite-fic because the number of times ive seen self-harm represented falsely in fic angers me greatly, but overall, this is one piece of writing that i think is a window to my soul. it’s meaningful to me and i honestly really like how it turned out.
