If we could hang out for a weekend, what would we do and talk about and anything else?
If we could hang out for a weekend, I'd take you to the camp where I gave my life to Christ for a retreat, and I'd tell you how each rec can be connected back to the concept of feeling afraid, even though you're in a harness or otherwise perfectly safe, and you have to make a choice to jump or repel or swing even though your feelings are telling you you're in danger--and then the harness catches you like God catches you, and you get to swing and feel exhilarated on the other side!
Then I'd drive you to the little town just outside the camp where there's a two-room movie theater and we'd watch a movie and then we'd grab sinfully gigantic coffee-cookie shakes at a nearby cafe and dissect whatever movie we watched. If I could pick the movie, it would be Signs or Lilo & Stitch.
Then we'd drive back to the camp, listening to The Gray Havens and Twenty One Pilots, and play archery tag (which is like dodgeball, but with bow-and-arrows that have tennis balls on the end so you can't impale each other) until the sun sets, and then we'd go to church (the camp does evening worship services at their church) and then we'd talk at the campfire about whatever we learned in church until it was bedtime. Then we'd sleep in ENO's over the creek like real camp counselors.

D.E.B.S (2004) is the height of art. We as a civilization peaked there, and every lesbian should watch it. @oldtvandcomics I owe you my life for recommending it to me

I legitimately do not understand hatred of DiscoWing like do you not understand the camp of it all. The '70s disco and ABBA of it all. The fabulousness of it all. The science fiction double feature and the '50s pulp fiction combined with sequins and style.

On my other blog I posted about the photographer Mario Casilli today. Here’s some of my favorite photos that he took. Babs and Barry because it’s Barry. You know.

it’s so interesting to watch the way Pike manipulates Bellamy into helping them. The way he starts out with talking about Mount Weather and telling him that yes, it is his fault, which feeds into his guilt but also is different from Kane and everyone else repeating that he did what he had with the information he knew of at the moment. Then Pike says that it was his fault too and that he lost his people because he let his guard down (like Bellamy did), so the second thing that convinces him is this and then he goes on, saying he will never again let this happen which also feeds into Bellamy’s guilt and anger that goes back to him and C.larke destroying mount weather and now his people and Gina too. He doesn’t want it to repeat again and again and again. Then Pike goes on, talking about leadership and the grounder Army outside, he says OUR leadership does nothing. K.ane is good, I know you’re close to him but they will attack us and you know it.
And what is there not to believe? What is there not to make sense? In his head, it does and his heart is hurting. He was just convinced by Kane and Abby to trust the grounders, to accept a treaty with the people who betrayed them. He was pushed away by Clarke who he tried so hard to save he got stabbed and she refused to go home.
A.bby, K.ane and C.larke’s mistakes when it came to Bellamy and all those people who voted for Pike as chancellor were that they refused to acknowledge how much these people actually hurt from the death and loss of the people that died in Mount Weather when Azgeda attacked. K.ane just said we were collateral damage and considered the question closed but it wasn’t. People hurt and in Bellamy’s case he hurt for leaving Gina behind and getting her killed and telling her to stay there but he also hurt because he failed to protect those people in mount weather and he failed to save those kids and those who helped them the first time around.
He failed, he was filled with guilt, he hurt and the WRONG person saw that and used it to their advantage. And that person was Pike.

not sure much of an intro needs to be here, but why not!
i'm el, i run the blog, and this space is pretty much here for astral venturings and events and whatnot (if i actually remember to post, which i'll be setting reminders for shortly). i'm twospirit and an indigenous practitioner of 15 years, and i tend to keep my craft private because some people—one i can think of in particular—really enjoy appropriating practices and misusing them before bitching about being "attacked" for it online.
aside from that, i have a pretty big family! a good handful of us have spirit companions and have been sitting deep in spiritwork for a long while, and we've got some big events coming up that we're excited for. usually that stuff gets detailed on twitter, but we all know how that site's faring. this blog is linked there now, actually.
i chose the name âkawâskweyâhk for this blog because it's simple, descriptive, and protective like our astral home. it means just what the blog's title says: "in the shelter of a dense forest or wood". one of my teachings growing up was that our language is sacred, and to use it is to let our ancestors and the spirits know we're here. it tells the land that we belong here, and animals are said to understand it. our astral realm and the land it's anchored to are tended to by our relative badger, who as a bear i feel i can always rely on for strong medicine.
anyways, i've never been partial to clean introductions. i much prefer to get them out of the way 🤣 we'll just end this here so we can get to posting! see you soon!

I don't think I've seen anybody talk about how absolutely insane The Boiling Rock is from Hakoda's perspective.
Imagine getting captured, and your son tells you that you won't be apart for too long. That's sweet, but obviously your son has no resources to spare for organizing a breakout. You hope that the Avatar can defeat the Fire Lord soon - that's the earliest time you could hope to be rescued.
You get put into a temporary holding facility until the guards can sort out who is who. After a while, they put you on a prisoner transport to the Boiling Rock. Your captors try to intimidate you by telling you that it's the highest security prison in the Fire Nation, probably the whole world. It's far away from the capital.
You arrive at the Boiling Rock. It really is in the middle of a boiling lake. There's only one way in or out, and it's a gondola that takes you above the boiling lake. You meet the warden. They take you to your cell. You settle down to wait for the end of the war.
And 15 minutes later Sokka comes in like "hey dad I'm here I got the prince of the Fire Nation and an Earth Kingdom ninja leader gf ok let's go I'm busting you out"
