thinking about numbers and symbolism in aftg. andrew (03) and aaron (05) being twin primes. 5 + 3 being 8 which is nicky's number. andrew being 03 which would've been neil's number if he was perfect court. jean being 29 in the trojans because renee was 09 and kevin was 02. and 2 + 9 adding up to 11 which is jeremy's number.

Something something, aftg set in the present day and the new group of freshmen discover Kevin, Neil, and too an extent the twins, have next to no knowledge of Internet slang and trends and spend so much time just quoting random shit at them with zero explanation

now i really can't stop thinking about an aftg hunger games au but like listen Andrew and Aaron go into the 71st Hunger Games at 15. They've never met. They don't even know the other one exists until they're in the games. They end up teaming up and are the last two left. They don't get to get out with the berries though. They know it'll only end one way so they decide they'll fight it out. Whoever wins goes home it's the easiest way to do it.

Andrew doesn't even realize he's won until the cannon goes off and by then it's too late to say goodbye. It's too late to say anything. He's won.

Andrew goes back home to live alone in Victory Village. He goes on the Victory Tour. He lets the capital use him however they want. He's the only mentor for the district but he doesn't do much. He's barely there.

That is until the 74th games and 17-year-old Neil Josten gets reaped. Andrew doesn't want to care. He wants to get by like always, but there's something different about Neil, something he can't help but pay attention to.

Neil was originally from District One but managed to escape. He spent his childhood training for these games. He spent his childhood being forced to kill so he would be prepared to volunteer. When he ran he thought he was free of the games. It didn't stop him from being reaped. His goal isn't to live, it would just make it easier for his father's men to get him. His only goal is to make sure the games don't change him. He hasn't even had the chance to figure out who he is yet, but he wants to die himself.

It should be easy for Andrew, having a tribute who's ready to die. In the end it's only a pain in the ass when he decides he must keep Neil Josten alive, no matter what.

There are 101 things I love about tnotg but the kevjean friendship might be my all time fave it actually made me fall into a rabbit hole where I've become slightly obsessed. It’s surprisingly hard to find any fics where they're friends so most of the ones I've read are romantic and while I love them thank you very much for the platonic content

this is such a late answer im so sorry (crying) i leave asks to pile up for too long im sorry everyone....... but on the topic at hand of course!!!!!!! i well i think my interpretation of kevjean might not be everyones cup of tea but i am often blown away by how much devotion i believe jean can have for kevin in whichever way he finds fit. im sure life wasnt easy in the nest but the idea of having a friend who learns your mother language for you... with you..... even knowing its been forbidden by your abusers..... its seriously crazy i cant think too much about it. to even have a friend at all in a place where you are merchandise, (even if prized merchandise), someone who has known you since you were 13 and kicking and spitting and hitting your abuser back before you knew better.........

im not saying this is a particularly healthy dynamic but i do think there is no world where jean is actually able to resent kevin. im sure there have been moments where he tried, moments where he felt it was easier to resent him, moments where he truly wished it was possible! but i dont think in the end he could do it. like the beautiful @jaywalkers wrote in their fic there is really no universe where jean can go through with the loathing!!! friends or lovers or a secret third thing, theres no denying that kevin was the only saving grace of his life for a long time, and thats a kind of loyalty&devotion you cant just lose. even if you try really hard

Aaron Minyard opened his acceptance letter into med school with every. Single. One. Of the og 9 (10 in our hearts) foxes present. (Plus Wymack and Abby). He was surrounded by his entire family when he opened those results.

When he got in it was the only time any of them had seen Aaron cry. Andrew had such a tight grip on the back of Aaron’s neck during it he almost left bruises. Neil was holding his hand (neither will admit to doing such a thing). Nicky sobbed (Erik was on video call when Aaron opened the results. Erik got noise complaints from how excitedly he was cheering). Kevin finally realized medicine was Aaron’s exy and was happily shaking Aaron’s shoulders.

It goes down in fox history as one of the best moments for all of them. The photos hang on the fox wall in the foxhole court.

Wymack and Abby both keep framed photos of Aaron with his acceptance letters in their offices (right next to the photos they keep of all og 9 foxes getting their offers for pro teams).
