“What?! Crunchy food makes us think it tastes better?” You exclaimed, standing in the kitchen with your phone in your hand after looking up recipes for you to use together.

Carmen paused.

“Yeah, baby. Texture means freshness and quality. That’s why so many dishes have an element of crispiness,” he explained as if it was something so common, so basic like first grade math.

“Oh…” you start going through different meals in your head and slowly realise that it actually makes sense.

“Are you… being serious?” He chuckles.

You furrow you eyebrows, taken aback. “Yeah…“. Obviously.

“How can you not know this?” Oh, he is soo amused by this, look at him smile, like a fucking Cheshire cat, ear to ear. What’s so funny about that?

“You know, I was never trained as a chef,” you say bitterly.

He laughs. He is so fucking smug.

You roll you eyes and pull him roughly to you by the hoops of his jeans. Your fingers swiftly move to the buckle and a cling is heard as you start undoing his belt.

“What are you doing?” he is still laughing at you.

“Maybe this way you’ll shut up”.

i love this scene cause it’s comedic at the end but it’s carmy deflecting he is starting to ask sydney how can he stop being a shitty person he is not sure about the relationship he is in with claire at all and he’s beginning to ask for advice like “how do i fix this, how do i even know if this is right(how do i do the right thing)? how do i know i’m fucking everything up?” but syds response is just to stop doing shitty things easier said than done duh obvious and this is the best response for carmen cause he gets to just give a funny response and change the subject

I just finished season one of the bear and the syd/carm brainrot is REAL. they have injected some sort of addictive chemistry between the two of them and I don't know how to cope. even if it doesn't end up romantic the INTIMACY between the two of them is CRAZY

Your phone dings, and you swiftly grab it. The blue notification says something, but it’s so bizarre that you have to read it again.

It’s Venmo.

Carmen venmoed you 100 dollars.

Does he think he can fucking pay you to come back? After everything, he’s gonna have to send a lot more than that.

“Carmen, what the hell??” you type, all his previous texts staring at you from above, still awaiting your response.

“Have you eaten today?”

“It’s none of your business”

“Baby, please”

Your heart aches. The text took you back, and you could almost physically hear his pleading, blue eyes looking at you so trustingly as he kissed your thighs and begged.

You shake the memory away and think about your answer. Both of you know he wouldn’t consider that food.

You slowly type “yes” and send it.

“I know you and your fucking “girl dinners”. This is for that beef stroganoff I showed you. Please make it.“

You’re angry. Angry at him, angry for thinking that you can’t take care of yourself, that you need him, that even though you left he cares, but mainly angry because he’s right.

“I’ll think about it” - you hit send and turn off the phone.
