#beauty and the beast 80s #{this video shows some important parts of the ep and the description the poster wrote is useful for those who haven't seen it at all}#{this episode was one of the rougher ones for me for sure}#{because there are no two ways about it... vincent definitely assaulted lisa}#{and it was so out of character for him but it also fit so well with these instincts he sometimes can't control}#{this was one of those times where you couldn't quite feel as sorry for him as you wanted to because... nah dude what you did was wrong}#{but at the same time it was such a deviance from his normal behavior}#{and lisa's behavior was odd as well}#{she seemed to like vincent's attention and to keep him interested but didn't have the same feelings for him and kept him at arm's length}#{which was kindof cruel to keep stringing him along}#{then she came back years later as if nothing had happened and everything was the same between them while he's actively keeping distance}#{i honestly found that as uncomfortable as what he did to her}#{lisa was a weird chick for me i dunno heh}#{but regardless... the way vincent internalized this incident and let it define him as a person for so many years was heartbreaking}#{the way he steps back away from lisa in that one scene starting at 2:24... ugh my heart... he's trying so hard not to repeat his past}#{i love that healing moment when he's finally telling catherine about this shame he's held for years}#{and she responds with no fear and no judgement... just encouragement and love... kissing his hands that he feels can give only pain}#{and she says “these are *my* hands” as she holds his in hers... MY HEART}#{an emotional rollercoaster this ep was heh}

finally onto the discordance storyline and it's filling in so many gaps in my theories

#mostly abt salt and the high wilderness what else do i theorise abt #but salt and the white are totally doing discordant shit #'no single thing shall be a single thing' i.e. the human self and 'judgement' selves of the white and salt #the fact that the deconstruction is where there is no time or space and is enforced by the absence of sound #frostfound no further evidence needed for that #the fact that the uttermost eel failure is Definitely Discordant #'the white returns to fulfill the frozen law'#and the title for returning from the hurlers is 'traveller returning' which is explicitly related to salt #there's more linking the changing of judgements into other things along the great chain and discordance too #the title for finding the discordance on the clay beast is 'a word‚ broken' which is what mr wines' confession is called #and im fully of the opinion that mr wines was a judgement #this is all so interesting im loving it #fallen london

thinking about ADWD and the sheer helplessness dany feels in the lead-up to her marriage to hizdahr and the direct aftermath. but mostly thinking about how when dany is about to leave the re-opened fighting pit, she rips off her veil, tossing it to the wind . . . and then, in front of thousands, removes her tokar, leaving only the linen shift ( her undertunic ). this isn't just because it's hot, which, i would argue, that the rising heat and its amplification can be attributed to the horrific effects of violence and oppression she's exposed to and disgusted by at the fighting pits.

after vehemently opposing the opening of the pits, she's forced to open them as a part of the agreement with yunkai ( plus internal pressures from pit fighters ) ; so, she's feeling a lot of things, such as failure in terms of having to submit for yunkai, powerlessness at her inability to uphold liberation across slaver's bay, and mortification that she must put on a face of participation in a system she utterly rejects ( in terms of physically being present the fights and being married to the individual who now owns all the pits in meereen ).

removing the tokar in front of all to see is an act of rebellion. dany would rather be indecent than wear the article of clothing that ties her to the tyrannical oppressors she despises.

#;; i just know that at some point on the dothraki sea . . . dany thinks about how she should have yanked hizdahr into the pit #;; when she jumped in and shoved him in front of drogon to DIE #;; but also she wants to look him in his eyes when she passes judgement. she wants justice for herself for his attempt to kill her #;; justice for her people and retribution for the 'peace' he negotiated with yunkai that inherently HARMS HER PEOPLE #;; justice for drogon since he ordered guards to 'kill the beast'#;; but also . . . i love how gr.rm accelerates the rhythm of her last few chapters?? you can just *feel* her disorientation!#;; and the sense that she's losing control and she can recognize it!#;; bc the thing is . . . she thought marrying hizdahr would be *good* for her people BUT IT ENDS UP MAKING THINGS **WORSE**#♕░░ a living fire to lighten the darkness ( HEADCANONS )

The "cool" part about having insane ideas about Clealiness beat into me since I was an infant is that no matter how deep or dark the pits of depression I'm stuck in, I always find it in me to get up to take a shower, change my clothes, etc. Even if I don't do anything else all day, even if I don't eat or sleep or talk to anyone, I have to wash up every day no matter what. And if for whatever reason I'm not able to, it's a very distressing and uncomfortable experience and all I'm able to focus on. Because being Dirty TM is worse than death, worse than any imaginable fate.

#just a fun little bit of eli lore that no therapist has been able to pull out of me before #i thought i was going to be so Brave and go to sleep without showering (i took a shower this morning)#but alas it was just hours of thrashing in bed and feeling uncomfortable #the mental eelness won again 😔#i pet thy head foul beast #i hate to be a stereotypical ocd haver but in my defense it's NOT about germs and disease to me #idc about that #it's entirely. social i guess #being perceived as gross and disgusting and filthy and repulsive #which makes me insaneeeeee #i can't even blame it all on my [redacted] i think my brain was just very prone to this kind of obsession idk #but it certainly didn't help. especially as a kid #sooo many instances of other ppl being confused and irritated with me for having breakdown over a tiny little stain or smth #but they didn't know 🙃 nobody cared to know 🙃#anyway that's all for today #(also this isn't like. a judgement of other people's personal hygiene and habits just to be clear. this is very much not normal im aware)

ok well not to do some meaning-making on side here but like. one of my biggest life lessons from my going on 3 years of working in a very vibrant gaming and hobby store is that it doesn't actually matter, in the grand scheme of things, how silly the foundational aspect of a community is - people are always people and a community is always a community. just because said community is based on something inherently a bit geeky and unserious - painting miniatures, trading card games, niche fan content creation - doesn't make the conflicts fought, friendships made, revelations had, and emotions felt there any less real or impactful than they would in, say, a church or volunteer network or any other chosen affinity group based on common interests. so even if people's reaction to something that, from a detached observer's prospective, seems overblown or ridiculous - it's still genuine as anything else! the human brain can rationalize all you want but that doesn't make feelings hit you any different from the get-go.

all this to say, i guess, play nice? even as someone who is by-and-large a lurker and always a tag blocker (or at least since maybe around may 2022) when it comes to ofmd this has genuinely been one of the most deeply, relentlessly hostile fanbases i have ever seen lol. like whatever man feel however you personally want about the finale, how they handled a lot of plot threads, whether or not izzy's death or ed's arc was effective or not, etc. but like. have a little bit of fucking grace here lol. or if you don't want to do that at least have the decency not to act like you don't understand why people who disagree with your takes are hesitant to play toys with you after you are straight up needlessly unpleasant to them

#this is something I may straight up delete bc I have built a large chunk of my online existence on the premise that I absolutely don't #engage with this sort of thing as a rule but like. jfc #blocked the tag upon first seeing ppl making some really heinous judgement calls abt anyone who enjoyed izzy in s1 and don't regret it #but end of the day why do I feel like people who don't even like that beast ascribe more weight to him as a character than me. an ascribing #weight to his character guy. i don't even think his whole situation was the dealbreaker for a lot of #fans of him but goddamn if people aren't gagging to be weirdly cruel and accusatory about it #kvetch
