DWC-Day 1 - Casualty
Ellissay couldn't sleep. It had been some time since she had been hurried from the cabin that night and taken to an unknown location. It would be weeks after Whisper had explained that the group they had been infiltrating, a massive slave ring, had figured out Shiloh was spying on them. Months before they would be able to end the threat.
It hadn't been a good ending. There had been several losses on both sides, including a man Elu had been relatively close to. A good man, from what Ellissay could tell. Elu seemed to have blamed herself, and she had been holed up in her office for some time, not taking any visitors except her twin sister Sia.
Shiloh, of course, blamed himself. Someone had ratted him out. Somebody he thought he could trust. The man in question was in the wind. Took the money he was paid and ran. Shiloh had wanted to track him down, but Elu had persuaded him otherwise.
Ellissay, however, knew the woman hadn't let it go. Sia had gone missing for several days. It didn't take a genius to put two and two together that his sister had gone after the traitor. She didn't envy the traitorous man. Sia could be a cold, calculating killer. Her psychic abilities making her deadly even without a weapon. The truth was, the woman was the weapon.
Ellissay swings her legs over the side of the bed and slips her feet into her pink slippers, grabbing a night coat and slipping it around her, tying it at the waist. She stands and makes her way into the kitchen to pour herself a shot of whiskey. Cause why not. It could help her sleep. Her mind went over and over everything that had happened. Could she have done more? Was those deaths partly her fault.
She knew the ambush on him could have been her next. Except he had fought them off enough to thwart the attack. Of course, he had paid the price by almost dying on her cabin floor. Had they thought she was part of his operation? Did the pictures she took have something they thought she could use against them?
She had no more answers than she had months ago, which irritated her. Even after they had taken down the organization, she hadn't found the answer she sought.
She downed the whiskey, feeling the heat of the liquid as it rushed down her throat. It felt good. Relaxing. She moves through the apartment to the doors leading to a patio. She opened the doors, and the night air instantly brought goosebumps upon her flesh. She closes her eyes for a moment and inhales the salty air as it comes in off the sea.
She suddenly realizes she misses her brothers. She misses her mom as well, perhaps especially her. It has been some time since she has seen her. Maybe it was time she took a trip to find her. Get away from everything and enjoy a bit of downtime.
Whisper said she had gone off with an old friend who was trying to help her come to grips with her loss. A man she and her Aunt Elutia have known for some time. A family friend of sorts, from her understanding.
Ellissay lets out the bit of air she hadn't realized she was holding. She hoped he could help her mother. She felt she really needed somebody in her life. Apparently, that hadn't been her children. After their father had passed away, her mother had turned from them all. She knew that her mother blamed herself. It had been Eclesia, her mother, that he was trying to save when that portal had closed, leaving him to perish in the fires of Teldrassil.
Ellissay brings the glass to her lips once more. Again, there were too many questions and not enough answers. That seems to be her life lately. Questions. She sipped the whiskey this time, taking a deep breath through her nose and letting it out with a soft sigh. She should get back to bed. Tomorrow was a new day, and she was expected to be bright and early in Elu's office. Something about a new assignment. Her eyes go to the black envelope with the crimson-red rose seal.
Of course, she no longer worked for SI:7. She wondered how her mother would feel about her following in her footsteps so closely. She moved back inside, closing the doors before walking to the kitchen and rinsing the glass. She makes her way back toward the bedroom. At least now she felt more relaxed, the alcohol having worked its way into her system. Perhaps it would help her find sleep.

Amity Park Is. Weird
Amity park is a strange, strange place. But that’s not anything new! There’s all sorts of Supernatural Bullshit happening at all times round here. This ghost thing is bad, yeah, but injuries and casualties are actually way down in comparison to the last applicable time this kind of thing happened when they were tried to be cornered into getting involved in that whole Civil War business! (They were settled by a group of Native Americans, runaway weirdos and Certified Crazies the colony’s didn’t want, they’re not getting involved in this shit! They are a power unto themselves. ) [credit to that one arg fic]
And boy, you should hear about that time in the 1920s when lycanthropy got WAY out of hand- (sure, Paulina’s family was a little flummoxed at the dragon transformation so suddenly- most shifters show signs of their Forms ages before a full shift, and the last shifter in the family was great great grandpapa! Maybe it skipped,,, a lot of generations?)
Besides, you don’t hear anyone talking about how if you go down Main Street at 3AM time stands still for an hour and gets your watch all off. Or that Robinson Loop protested being a straightaway by making it if anyone rides a bike down it you’ll just end up that start again despite going in a straight line! Really, Amnity always has been and always will be a spot where the energy tides and bullshit metaphysical tectonic plates get all out of whack- if anything you EXPECT ghostly interactions in that kind of space.
#really I just want some guy on his porch with a shotgun loaded with silver salt etc#bitching about ALL YOU COWARDLY YOUNG’UNS#FORGETTING YOUR HISTORY#bAcK iN mY DaY wE dEaLT wITh oUr PrObLeMs OurSelVes and ToOk the CausAlties Like a Man!!#all you fools getting us indebted to some infant protection diety harrumph harrumph#and or the first ghost attacks happen and everyone instead of like#doubting their eyes or whatever#or going WhATs HaPpeNing???#just go QUICK! I’ve just realised I have not properly said my thoughts on the sahteddypaige events today so here’s my 1am attempt at coherent thoughts.
I said that I thought this episode would make me emotional about early sahteddy and it did, so no one’s surprised there. Going all the way back to Sah’s first episode, something about Teddy talking a lot and asking them a bunch of questions in that episode and Sah kind of not liking that and kind of wanting him to stop in comparison to Teddy refusing to speak to them at all in this episode and Sah really trying to get him to say anything. I am heartbroken.
In their final scene where Sah is having one last go at convincing Teddy that the kiss didn’t matter, I really noticed how much Sah was focusing on Teddy and Paige’s relationship instead of their relationship with Teddy. The fact that they weren’t even trying to excuse their own actions so he’d be friends with them again but were trying to save his relationship with Paige, I am heartbroken again. This reminded me a little of how Sah was later into series 36? I’m not sure why (I am, actually, but it’s too lengthy and weird to explain). It also just seemed so interesting to me to compare that with how Paige has been about this whole thing. Sah being so worried about Teddy and Paige’s relationship while Paige acts like they were selfish for telling him and also only seems to really be considering how her relationship with Teddy has been affected and also like refusing to take any responsibility for Teddy being upset as if she didn’t kiss Sah first…
If it’s not clear, I’m not too happy with Paige tonight. I’m not surprised and I’m choosing to believe that with time and distance from both Sah and Teddy, she will stop being like this by next week but having seen the spoilers, I’m kind of getting worried that she might keep this stuff up.
#i could talk about sah and teddy at embarrassing length but i won’t#but i could if people would promise not to judge me#causalty spoilers#(mentioned but you know)#cas ep: little white lies#bbc casualty#casualty#shoelace fandom#sah brockner#teddy gowan#paige allcott#the polyfailure <\3

If I could get over my internalised ableism and be like 5% more organised and do shit like use my fucking support aids and take my fucking meds I really would be unstoppable.
#brought to you by me inguring my ankle and being forced to use a stick and thus being reminded that using a stick makes my life 100x easier#the gaul honestly#when i was like 14 i got it in my head that i could just stop using my aids and not be disabled anymore because then no one would know#other causalties include hand rests. physio exercies. typeing my notes instead of writing them by hand. and wearing my god damn hearing aid#and now im mostly over that but my brain sometimes screams im not fosabled enough to use a stick despite thay not being how that works#but im very very bad at habit forming so all that shit is still abandoned.#i used to be better about my meds. i really did. but now i think im drawing connections that dont exist between them and my seizures#and like. if i dont take them i still get seziures. but if i do take them i presume they casued the seizure#even though ive been taking these meds for years and the seziures have had a slow degeneration to be this bad#im calling them seziures. the doc is unsure but the are at least seizure like#fuck i just need to get my fucking shit together with my disablities#i have stuff to make everything a thousand times easier#i just dont fucking do it because im a dumb ass

As you navigate the coldly lit corridors of your lonely hab unit, the omniscent clank and clatter of metallic cooking implements that had roused you from your slumber becomes ever louder. You round a corner. Your kitchen is now in view - whatever is disturbing the interior still very much inside. You come to a halt at the door. Whatever is rumaging inside continues it's infernal crockery-based ruckus.
CANNINESS [Medium: Failure] - you've got the perp hook line and sinker, as the terrans say, old girl. Now quickly - burst through, release an unholy screech that even the everbloom will feel, and petrify the dirt pile that dares disturb your sacred domain.
SENSIBILITY [Medium: Success] - No, wait. Don't do that. You're not one of those weirdo oldblooms with more vines than eyes and about two times as sadistic. Your modest. Composed. A friendly 'ffini that all the other 'ffini and 'florts wave at on the street. Compose yourself. Open the door slowly. Assure whatever or whomever is inside that you mean no harm. We can take it from there.
1. "Hello? Is anyone in there?"
2. Bide your time, form a plan of action.
3. Open the door gingerly. So as to not draw attention quickly.
4. [Worldly presence - Trivial 6] An intruder? In YOUR hab? Not if you have anything to say about it! Full throttle through the door, baby. No balls or breaks, Let's do this!
HIGH
95%
+ 1 reinforced core for hab defense
+ 1 Read Rosa Chenensis's "The art of domestication"
- 1 tired
This is a red check, it cannot be retried
[5 - 4]
CHECK SUCCESS
You barge through your kitchen door like a menacingly overfed beeple beelining for the airplane spoon. Vines poised to grab and grapple and hunched in a way to make yourself more... menacing. The interloper freezes solid as one of your vines reaches for the light switch.
"Ah ha!" You state. With smug confidence. "Thought you could pillage my kitchen in the middle of the night and get away with it could yo-" Gasp
BLEEDING CORE - oh stars, the kitchen, it's- it's-
MIND'S GEM [Easy: success] - A vast and unknown wreckage. On the floor between raised kitchen appliances bowls and dishes lay strewn like cracks in the landscape. By your sink you see corporal syrup: His cork popped open with careless regard as he bleeds his sugary innards into your sink. Private flour dusts sergeant chocolate sprinkles on the cutting board table, the poor bag is gutted like a fish, dusting his comrade with dry whiteness. General baking soda has been torn apart as though by the hands of rabid dogs. Splattered across the entire room like the lair of a trashy terran slasher film villain. You count enumorous other causalties across the battlefield, but none so terrible as that of gunnery sergeant batter - his mass split between the bowl, a spoon, and the mouth of the terran woman right in the middle of this slaughter - this was no kitchen battle. This was a kitchen MASSACRE.
The terran woman is frozen solid looking at you. Still holding the combined contents of your baking cabinet in her mouth.
SCRUTINY [Hard: failure] - No form, no manners, she dosen't even have the decency to look perturbed or put the bowl down! Do they teach terrans anything these days?
DOMINANCE [Easy: Success] - Look at this sopping wet feline of biomass. She dosen't even look scared about you, she looks annoyed that she got caught. You know what we do with disobedient pets like that? You should bring out the fun stuff and REALLY Let her know who's cake batter she's eating.
BIOLOGICAL IMPERATIVE [Hard: failure] - Hold on, let's not be too brash. Sit down first. Diffuse the situation. Maybe get to know her a little bit. Be polite about it. *then* rail her brains out until she's begging to be fed your delicious cake batter from your vines.
XENOCOMPABILITY [Easy: success] - Class A's! Class A's! Class A's! Class A's!

Dr.
It was all over the news, most of the pro’s were dealing with a mass causalty event, and those who weren’t were pursuing a suspect who could stop it. He set up bombs all over the city, and buildings were collapsing around them, but those were just warning shots. Proof that he could do what he promised, because most of the buildings that fell were empty and abandoned, all but one. A public mall that was bustling with people that morning, but by the afternoon it was a pile of concrete and flesh, and most pro hero’s were attempting to save what they could only assume were very few survivors.
Though a few of the top heroes were tracking down the main suspect, and they found him in a matter of hours, hopping from rooftop to rooftop. Deku, Dynamite, Red Riot and Shoto had him surrounded on the rooftop, and it wasn’t until they say him that they knew the exact depth of his plan. His name was Evil Eye, and though his name was rather simple, it was true. Most people said he had the eye of the devil, able to see exactly what would go wrong, and how to manipulate it in his favor.
Evil Eye, otherwise known as Shayfer smiled and licked his teeth, “ well it took you guys long enough,” he breathed putting his hands behind his head and interlacing his fingers, “ finally caught me,” he smiled, “ are you proud?”
Bakugou let his palms catch on fire, not believing that he would allow himself to be so easily captured.
“ You should know,” he said coyly, “ that this is only the beginning, you make take me down now, but the carnegie has only begun,” he sucked in a loud breath and let a loud witch like cackle out of his mouth, “ children, such a precious thing, how society protects them, it would be quite the shame if something happened to about 34 of them,”
Deku’s eyes widened, and he lowered his fist, “ The bus!” he exclaimed, “ the bus that went missing this morning.”
A school bus went missing this morning, and while the pro’s spent the better part of the morning looking for them before the mall collapsed and hell broke lose in the city. They assumed the bus went missing in the chaos and when things settled the bus would appear, that was their hope at least. But now knew that this was a delicately crafted plan, to cause just as much chaos as he wanted, just because he could.
“ So what, we let you go, and you tell us where the bus is, or the bus blows up?” Bakugou asked.
“ That is if they don’t drown first,” he said with a bizarre smile, his eyes looked to the sky, searching through the clouds, “ well 32 of them will drown, the twins who can breathe underwater, they will suffocate as the run out of oxygen,” he said.
“ Where is the bus?” Todoroki asked calmly, he let his hand turned to ice, and it soon became clear that he would not be asking the question again.
“ Oh, no no no, that's no fun,” he smiled again, “ in the bus is a map, to where I’ve hid all the bombs in the city, and this morning there may have been limited casualties, but the rest of the week will look like the mall, but feel so much worse, and you will wish that you suffocated to death.”
Bakougo took a step foreward but found his feet stuck to the tar of the roof, his body felt rigid, only able to move his neck, he turned to his team to find them in the same predicament. Deku was gritting his teeth and activating his quirk to its full power, Red Riot turned himself to stone, but remained stuck, and all Shoto could do was build blocks of ice and shoot them in the air without having to move at all, a move he had been working on.
“ Well, I would love to stay and chat, but I’ve got to go,” he said looking up, it became evident what he was searching for because it was obvious that he was looking for a helicopter, he pointed to the sky, “ My ride is here,” he said.
Turning on his heels, he skipped to the edge and took a running jump to dive off the roof and caught the latter in his fingertips, he pulled himself up and hooked his heels on the rope latter, along with his elbow, to turn and smile.
Todoroki allowed one last large ice block to shoot from his hand, it collided with the tale of the copter causing it to spin uncontrollably. Shayfer lost his balance and slipped form the rope, and the pilot fell from the cockpit, and hit the blades of the of the helicopter, slicing up his stomach before the helicopter dropped from the sky along with Shayfer, and went up it flames.
Todoroki dived after them, being able to move and fireproof, using his ice to slide to the ground and sift through the molten plates of metal and bits of broken glass to pull a lifeless Shayfer one. He was barley breathing, and most of his skin was covered in hot blisters and boils that started to pop.
“ He’s still alive,” he said.
“ GET HIM TO MIDNIGHT MEMORIAL!” Bakugou shouted.
It was where the best doctors worked, and he had just the doctor in mind to help with this suspect. Shayfer could not die, not only did the lives of 34 children depend on it, but the fate of the city as well.
Todoroki built a tower of ice to the building roof and handed his body to Bakugou who tossed him over his shoulder and took flight in the direction of the hospital.
-
Y/N was splinting an arm, when the smell of burning human flesh invaded her senses, a smell she would never forget. She turned around to find her husband standing in the middle of the busy ER, with what looked to be a burned corpse over his shoulder.
“ Y/N,” he shouted, “ Y/N HELP HIM,” he shouted.
“ Someone bring me a gurney,” Y/N spoke, running over to Bakugou, she placed two fingers to the side of his neck, nearly flinching at the feel of his blistered skin on hers. “ BRING ME A GURNEY,” she said louder.
A nurse rolled one over to him, and Bakugou placed Shayfer on top of it. Y/N began to bark around various orders to nurses, who ran off in opposite directions, returning moments later with dangerous looking medical supplies.
“ Get him hooked up to monitors and prepare a crash cart, his pulse is thready,” she shouted out. She saw a nurse out of the corner of her eye, roll a set of monitors next to him, and place leads on his chest. “What happened to him, was he in the mall?” She said rather calmly despite the situation.
Bakuguo could only stare until a firm grip to the shoulder seemed to spark something in him.
“ I need you to tell me what happened.” she stated again.
“ You have to save him,” he demanded, “ you have to.”
“ I need a size 8 ET tube and a scope,” she turned to the nurse next to her, “ and type and cross his blood, we might need it,” she turned back to Bakugou and Kirishima, “ Glad you two are alive, now tell me what happened?”
“ Helicopter crash,” Kirishima said. “ You have to save him,” he added. She smiled, glad to see both her boys okay, minus a few cuts and bruises they seemed not to be dying, and she couldn’t help but smile. They had known eachother since highschool, and ave been in a relationship for 7 years, and she couldn’t manage to think of a life without them.
She hated their job, but understood. Understood the urge to save people, to help people, and she couldn’t ask them to stop because that’s what she loved about them. They saved people out there, in the harsh reality of the world. And she saved them behind the safety of the four walls of the hospital. Everyone helped best they could..
“ I don’t intend on letting anyone die, not in my ER.” she said with a challenging smile.
She was head of the ER and she took each death personally, whether they were her patient or not. She was a good doctor, and though she had no quirk, she still wanted to help people. Being a hero was out of the question so she went through 8 years of 6, and 6 years of specialized trauma training to become the best trama sergon in the nation, often operating on fallen heroes, and injured civilians. Being the capitol of most villians she saw her fair share of bad trauma, and though she could save most of them, she couldn’t save them all. She was a good doctor, but those deaths haunted her.
“ You really can’t let him die, he has hostages,” Bakugou said. “ 34 kids,” he specified, “ please don’t let him die,” he said again.
A loud beep sounded from the monitors, and a steady green line striking across the screen, let them know that his heart had stopped. Y/N looked at them with her calm eyes, and started to twitch slightly. One life under her knife was one, but 35 was an unatinable number to her, she gave them a spacy nod, and turned back to the burned body, still and lifeless, boiling blisters still popping out of his skin.
“ Start bagging,” she said to a nurse, “ and start comprsssions, light and easy, we don’t want his chest caving in, or those blisters peeling off the skin,” she said to another nurse who immediately began compressions. “ I need an ultrasound for his chest and abdomen, and call up for an OR,” she said.
His heart still didn’t start, so she charged the paddles and placed them on his chest. “ Charge to 200,” she said, “ CLEAR,” she yelled. Everyone withdrew contact with the body, and the paddles sent electricity through his body, giving it one sudden jerk, “ push 2 of epi,” she said, she watched the monitor, held her arms out, and a slow beep resumed on the monitor.
Using his arms she pressed arond his abdomen, it was rock hard, and blood was spilling from every oraphus. “ He’s bleeding out,” she said aloud. She pressed the ultrasound to his stomach and sucked her teeth.
“ Where?” said one of the nurses.
“ Spleen, liver, pancreas,” she listed, she moved the wand to his chest and shook her head with disappointment, “ his chest is rumbling, it’s probably been aggravated by the smoke, and his lung is filling with blood,” she said, “lift his legs,” she called out to know one, “and ready a chest tube, one airway isn’t enough we need to get rid of the blood in his lungs so he has a chance of getting oxygen to his stomach,” she said. “ We need to let some of the blood from his stomach before he goes into multi-system organ failure and dies of sepsis.” Using a scalpel she sliced a small line in the bottom of his stomach, causing it to bleed profusely.
The boys watched aimlessly and helpless. They were sore and their body ached, and if they could guess by Y/N’s tone things were not looking good.
Y/N cut a hole in his chest and blood spurted out of it with every heart beat, Y/N shook her head. “ Take him to a trauma room, we won’t make it to an OR,” she said loudly. Everyone seemed to understand, and nodded at her with a certain grim determination.
“ YOU CAN’T GIVE UP, THE CITY NEEDS HIM ALIVE,” Bakugou yelled, and Y/N ignored him, her eyes focusing on the tube in his chest, he flatlined again,
“ Gown and glove me,” she said, sparing him a second glance“ Get a portable CT, to scan his head, make sure he doesn’t have any brain injuries, I’m not gonna save his life for him to get a delayed brain bleed and croak,” she said, hopping onto the gurney and straddling, holding pressure to the wound, because he was bleeding out quicker than she anticipated, “ now move this gurney,” a nurse rolled the gurney to the nearest trauma room.
The boys trailing behind her reminding her of the fact that was pouding away at her skull. The city depended on him making it out of this alive, therefore they depend on her, and she didn’t need a single reminder of that upsetting fact. Shayfer was hanging on by threads, as Y/N ran through every possible situation in her head, and each was more dire than the last, each more bloody and ending in a quiker death.
Even if she could somehow stop the bleeding, she knew that most of his organs were severely damaged, and based on his ribs, which were poking out in every different , and probably poking holes in his lungs and based on the ultrasound, jagged piece was stabbing directly into his heart wall and shredding through the ventricle. Which each beat of his heart, tore it even more.
She turned to one of the nurses, and motioned to her husbands. Standing there, looking at her with love, care and a bit of desperation. “Get me 6 nurses and get them out of here,” she said.
She didn’t know if she would be able to stand the way they looked at her if she let this man die, because if he died, 34 children did, and they would no longer look at her the same.
“ You have to-”
“ I know I have to save him because not only is a bus full of children depending on me, but it turns out the greater city is as well, and I cannot focus on saving this mans life if I’m concerned with you, or worry about how you’re gonna look at me after if I can’t save him, because right now you’re not looking at me like I’m saving one man’s life, but 35, so please leave, because as long as you’re looking at me like that, as long as you’re staring at me, I can’t help but think about what happens if this man dies on my table ” she shouted, and before they knew it they were being ushered to a small room where a sweet nurse attended to their injuries.
6 hours later, Y/N staggered into the room, trauma gown covered in blood and skin covered in a thin sheen of sweat, she sniffled as she staggered into the room, and leaned on the wall, panting loudly. She leaned her head back on the wall, and bent at the knee slowly sliding down the wall, ripping off the blood soaked gown, and bursting into tears.
She clawed at her neck trying to breathe.
“ Is he-”
Y/N began to whimper, and Bakugou burst from the room and into the trauma room where Y/N operated to find Shayfar still covered in burns and stitches, upright and glaring at Hitoshi, who was demanding the location of the bus. Hitoshi was speaking over the radio, to a SWAT team, who was finding the exact location of the bus and the children, alive and well, along with maps to the still remaining bombs.
Bakugou stubbled out of the room, and back into the old one, where Y/N crawled into Eijors lap, trying to breathe.
“ You saved him honey, you saved him,” Bakougou said.
“ What if I couldn’t?” she asked, “ What if I couldn’t and all those kids died, he almost bled out on my table 12 different times, he flatlined 4 times, it was a miracle that hes still alive.”
“ No, you’re just good at what you do,” Bakugou corrected, “ you saved him because you are a good doctor.”
“ You would never look at me the same if he died,” she whimpered.
“ Nothing would ever stop us from loving you,” Bakugou said, stroking the top of her and rubbing her back.
“ We all do the best we can, we all save who we can,” Kirishima added, “ and as long as you try you’re best. We all just try our best.”

I think a while back someone mentioned Amiya being similar to Shirou from FSN, and I've been thinking about that a lot lately, and yeah, I'm starting to see it.
Kind of really hit me when that one cg of the Doctor reaching into the rubble to save Amiya happened.
I mean, thinking about the Doctor and Kiritsugu, there's definitely some similarity.
The Doctor spent so long at Babel trying to lessen the causalties of every battle, but every one usually ended with some of their own people dead.
So you have this person who feels weighed on by so much death, not to mention all the suffering they've caused by the Originium plan, but they choose to save this one person.
They don't want to cure Oripathy at the end of the Babel event, they just want to save Amiya. The Doctor just wanted to save Amiya, if they could do that, that would be enough to save them.
And then there's the realization that this person that was your father figure, was incredibly bloodsoaked and was not really a good person in the end, but they still saved you, they still helped you as best as they could.
There's something so interesting in all of that.

Because of the other I/P anon, would it be allright to ask what are some specific things you think the Likkud party could handle differently concerning the current *war*? You did mention that Israel is partly to blame for the situation, and I’m curious about the opnion from someone that’s not a zealous antisemite. If this is comfortable or safe for you to disclose. Pardon in advance if I misunderstood anything.
No really anon, I'd prefer if I stayed in my lane on this
*War* you say "war" you say?! you're so cute anon, trying to deligitamize I/P as something worse than war. But you apologized for bad phrasing so I forgive you.
but from what I gather the Likud seems more concerned with killing Hamas than they are with getting the hostages back. The idea that the Likud doesn't care for the hostages is completely correct, the idea that the Israeli people do not is false
Also of course there is criticism of the civilian causalties even when the real numbers are used and not the fabricated ones hamas puts out but I am not qualified to speak on this at all. War is hell where innocent people die for not crime but living in the wrong place at the wrong time
Oh and Israel did put Hamas in power because the terror group that ran Gaza before that Fatah was even worse so some people believe that October 7th is cruel irony that Israel deserved.
anon you might want to follow this post so because I'm opening the floor to my followers to talk about this

the simurgh could have been so cool. she could have been so cool and they wasted her
the explanation given for how the simurghs manipulation power works is that shes an extremely powerful telepath and precog and shes able to set people up in such a way that they inevitably take the actions that lead to mass casualties and destruction. shes supposed to be a puppetmaster/chessmaster type. and i have a REAL weakness for those. but she isnt very effective at filling that trope and that makes me SO MAD
the hallmark of good manipulation in fiction is that the character cant tell they're being manipulated but the audience, if they think about it, can. take The Magnus Archives for instance, as a piece of media that plays with this trope heavily. (heavy TMA spoilers through the finale inbound!) when Jonah Magnus causes Jon to initiate the Eyepocalypse, its done in a way that feels like all characters involved are acting in a way that seems to follow naturally from their previous actions. Jonah is creating this ritual in order to gain immortality. Jon sets out to stop him out of guilt for having participated. both of those motivations make sense. its only when you take a step back and consider where those motivations originated that you hit some interesting roadblocks, such as "why does Jon feel so culpable for an event that he was tricked into instigating?" that you can peel back a few layers and discover that large portions of this event were actually arranged by the Web. but the characters are oblivious to this, until it is spelled out.
good manipulation is good from a narrative standpoint because it shows what the character being manipulated is REALLY capable of. it follows logically, and those moments reveal hidden truths about the character being manipulated, allowing us to learn more about them, because the actions they've been manipulated into ARE in character for them.
the Simurgh doesnt do that. her manipulation doesnt set us up to learn anything more about the initial characterization of the individual, because it practically OVERWRITES that individual. i can only think of three major examples of the simurghs manipulation, so pardon if im missing something, but:
she manipulates Cody, aka Perdition, into being slightly more aggressive towards his friends. this causes him to be ousted from their group, which causes him to be acquired by Accord and subsequently sold to the Yàngbǎn. because of their cultish rules and Codys problems with authority, he comes to resent Accord for putting him in this position, and bcomes murderously violent towards him upon seeing him again, leading to him disabling much of the command station in the battle at Delhi, causing unknown extra causalties to Behemoth. while this one is closest to being good manipulation from a narrative standpoint, it still falls short because it doesnt REVEAL anything. Cody being angry, resenting his friends and especially Krouse, and chafing under authority are all evident from his first few appearances. there's no information gained about his character during this exchange, and it prevents him from having anything resembling a character arc. he doesnt get resolution, to find a community where he belongs or to realize hes happy being without one - he gets an interlude where we hear that he Fucking Hates All Of This Shit and then boils over and kills some important people out of personal anger. that's his most important contribution to the story - being angry enough to act like an idiot and validate the bad things that Krouse had been saying about him.
she manipulates Krouse and Noelle into feeling so trapped that they feel they have no choice but to take the Cauldron power vials, leading to Noelle taking the halfdose that gives her her Echidna powers. that by itself is fine. where this one falls off the deep end is in making Echidna a separate force to Noelle's own motivations. Noelle doesnt end up destroying huge swathes of Brockton Bay and indirectly revealing the truth about Cauldron because it made sense for her to do so as a character - she does it because she, as a character, literally gets replaced with a different, more reckless, more destructive character. its lazy and tells us NOTHING, actively LESS THAN NOTHING - to the point where Noelle has less characterization than most of the other Travellers despite having ao much screen time. Echidna is a fine character, but the Simurgh doesnt set up the dominoes for Noelles motivations to BECOME Echidnas motovations - she sets them up for Noelles motivations to be SUBSUMED by Echidnas.
and then there's Mannequin, and this one is EGREGIOUS. do i even have to spell it out? alan gramme is a cool character who gets traumatized, and then wildbow decides that being traumatized makes him so murderously insane that he BECOMES A DIFFERENT PERSON ENTIRELY. not only is that deeply insulting to the traumatized and mentally ill - who are, in my experience, onaverage NOT violently murderous - it also doesnt give us any info on Alan Gramme, the character. Alans motivations are to make the world a better place. Mannequins motivations are... to lash out at people who are making the world a better place? because he feels that he failed in doing so? it doesn't follow logically. a better Alan would have been one who gave up on trying to affect the world, instead retreating fully into himself, or one who decided his previous methods weren't working and instead starts engaging in more extreme methods. mannequin couldve been an ecoterrorist if his arc followed logically from Alan's but instead he decides to start killing his former allies. and THAT is not good manipulation
tl;dr the Simurgh's influence has a tendency to replace the affected character with what is, in all respects, just a Different Character. its lazy writing, because it means that Wildbow doesnt have to think abiut hiw a characters real values and morals get corrupted into causing destruction - he just transplants in new morals and uses the Simurgh to justify it. and its BAD writing, which is a much worse crime than being lazy, because it essentially chops off any chance the character had of having a real arc where we get to see them progress naturally - instead they reach an artificial cutoff point and then their character stops mattering to the story as they become someone else instead.

ok without knowing anything about OP or their ideology past this post i feel like —in isolation—this post can give people a misguided idea of anti-capitalism in archeological academia. and while i (an undergrad w massive hubris) wouldn't dare to debate an actual archeologist, i do want to add additional context from a marxist perspective, for my non archeologist mutuals.
the concept OP here is thinking about is industrial capitalism. capitalism lato sensu can be argued to have existed since the appearance of capital. we aren't 100% sure exactly when this happened chronology, but traditionally for the European archeological record it's been identified during the Neolithic*. the classic Marxist thesis is that the things OP lists above (socioeconomic inequality, misogyny in particular the patriarchy as an institution, unilateral rule....) appear as a result of the privatization of property**. this has notably been explained in Engels' The Origin of The Family, Private Property and the State. OP probably already knows all this, because it's historiography 101, i don't mean to sound condescending.
but i don't like OP's criticism that "inequality existed before capitalism" because it ignores a key thing. in fact my guy Marx's whole "historic materialism" deal is precisely that capital has been ruining our lives forever, even before the industrial revolution! and while i am a bit lukewarm myself about using the concept of "class" before the industrial revolution, or any kind of deterministic analysis of history***—i cannot ignore that Marx and his colleagues have thought extensively about the apparent contradiction that OP is highlighting. when people identify capitalism as the source of all that inequality, they are talking about capital, as Marx described. it isn't a mistake, it's historic materialism.
a significant part of archeological scholarship has been lead by marxist and anarchist archeologists, precisely because that analytical framework can even be applied to eras before the Industrial Revolution. im not going to criticize OP for not adding this longass disclaimer before a 100 word tumblr post, but i do think that not including it is giving an unfair view of all marxist historic materialism has postulated.
tldr: what OP criticizes above isn't a mistake, it's historic materialism. the existence of inequality before the industrial revolution has been integrated by Marx into "problems caused by capitalism" because it steams from capital, not necessarily "industrial capitalism" as a specific mode of production.
* this thesis was obviously formulated in a time where we knew way less about prehistory than we do now, but when exactly socioeconomic inequality emerged is still a HUGE debate topic in academia. the original placement during the Neolithic has shifted (but it's mostly been a chronological change rather than a change in the theoretical basis). regardless, marxist analysis of this topic are still a bigass deal on the academic field today.
** whether the Marxist thesis holds or not depends on who you ask. there's a lot of things that emerged in Western Neolithic&Metal Ages (private property, objects denoting prestige, division of labor, clearly identifiable elites, individual burials with a dowry...) all of which seem to be interconnected, but proving causalty is basically impossible. which came first and the nature of their correlation depends on who you ask. same pieces, different way of assembling them. however, a—admittedly less dogmatic—marxist view is still popular among researchers.
***i by no means think marx was deterministic but i do think some 20th century marxists got a bit too lost in the economic sauce and ignored other important aspects (re: poststructural focous on society&culture)
#ok updated version last one was i deservingly pissy in tone#im gonna check out OP's blog now cause I don't wanna be unfair in my criticism#but yeah like i get the complaint. but it has an answer#whether you subscribe to historic materialism or not is your choice#i myself am soso abt it

Putin tells a group of Jewish Rabbies that 80-85% of the Bolsheviks were Jewish and behind the largest genocide in history.
No wonder Hollywood, mainstream media and our corrupt political leaders says:
"Putin is worse than Hitler".
They are really afraid of collective punishment.
Classic example of "projection".
Lucky for the Jews, and deservedly so for all the innocent Jews, Putin is an Orthodox Christian, so his faith is based on love, compassion, forgiveness, truth and due process,
i.e. only the guilty can be punished.
Collective punishment of all Jews is NOT a Christian thing to do.
That on the other hand has been the Global Order since the genocide on German civilians from 1945-1949 when 15 Mio mainly innocent German civilians were genocided in accordance with
the Morganthau Plan,
the Hooton Plan,
the Coudenhove-Kalergi plan,
Theodore Kauffmans book "Germany Must Perish,
"What to do with Germany" by Louis Nizer
and many other Jewish genocidal plans of collective punishment of unruly Goyims.
Meanwhile not a single genocidal German plan has been found, not even a single statement from a German politician or scholar that all jews should be genocided. Another example of projection, maybe the biggest example in human history and certainly the most succesful one, that has managed to traumatize millions of white Christian people to accept being discriminated against in their own countries.
We have seen the Collective Punishment play out in every war since the Talmud followers took charge of the USA in 1945.
We have seen it in the war against North Korea where every major city was totally levelled like all major cities were in Germany.
We have seen collective punishment of civilians in Vietnam with agent Orange and multiple of other countries.
"We came we saw he died" said Hillary Clinton mockingly about the bestial murder of the in Libya beloved Gaddafi.
"There are 90% collateral damage" said Obama about the percentage of civilian causalties in their carpet bombing campaigns against Israels perceved enemies.
"More than half a million Iraqi children have died, was it worth it?" a journalist asked Jewish Secretary of State Madeleine Albright in 1991.
"We think it is a high price to say, but worth it", she answered while licking her lips (literally).
All global policies are based on collective punishment "for the greater good" of course, backed up by "narratives" aka momentous lies spewed out by our corrupt media and repeated ad nauseam by our politicians and "experts".
You all have to wear a mask, not to kill grand ma.
You all have to take the vax, not to kill grand ma.
You all have to pay the Globalists USD 50 trillion, so they somehow can "save the planet". They will then use that money to enrich themselves while paying out a tiny fraction to their deeply corrupt political leaders, journalists and lying through their teeth "experts".
You have to spend your taxes and money creation on wars against Israels enemies, otherwise the terrorists will come and get you. They then use the war to launder money and traffic children.
And lastly if anyone is in ANY doubt, that the world is run by satan worshipping Talmud followers who believe in hate, revenge, "narratives" instead of truth and collective punishment, then all you have to do is watch what they are doing to the Palestinian people in Gaza, based on a false flag operation October 7th where they had foreknowledge of the attack, opened the borders 15 places, stood down for 7 hours, then invoked the Hannibal Directive and shot to kill everyone, Israeli hostage or Palestinian a like, then told lies about 40 beheaded babies and rapes, none of which, none, have been corroborated by actual evidence.
It is such a horrendous collective punishment taking place in Gaza, where people are murdered on an industrial scale, including killing babies in incubators (literally), that even the globalist controlled and corrupt UN and ICJ have to come out reluctantly and admit that Israel is conducting a genocide.
Now it is time for action from UN, ICJ and the global community and the people
Time to
SEPARATE SYNAGOGUE and STATE
No more Talmud World Order
We need a Christian World in the Christian nations, likewise Muslim, Hindu and Buddhist in their countries based on
love, compassion, forgiveness, truth and due process.
We Will Win
110 will happen for sure
Palestine will be free.
Palestine will be a country without apartheid.
And once the Palestinians have defeated the Talmud following government presently in Israel, the Talmud following World Order will totally collapse worldwide.
All thanks to the heroes in Palestine.
May their God Bless them

Operation Firewall (2016)
Objective: Anwar Carabalí.
Note (2016): Due to the lack of information about the individual, is probable that he's using a fake name

The weapon trafficant, Anwar Carabalí, born in Sudan. No register of a date nor a location. His first appereance was two years before the operation, at first he did the usual things inside the black market. Sold rifles, grenades, mostly things for light infantry, but slowly started to expand the "bussiness".
Gunnery, drugs, humans, it became worst as the time passed. Soon the american intelligence had reports about a special cache, a nuclear cache on his power. And since they knew about the hate he had against the mere concept of the US, it was a priority to stop him and get the location of the weapon cache.
The CIA and the USSOCOM went after him during almost a year before having especific locations, six countries where he could be, and six sets of coordinates to look in. Morocco, Chad, Egipt, Lebanon, Congo and Angola.
As well, six teams were assigned to raid every location and go looking for the objectives. Information and Carabalí. Their orders about him? Eliminate him, no witnesses, no evidence.
The teams selected were:
SEAL Team 3: Officer in command, Captain John Cooper. Assigned to arrive in Casa Blanca, Morocco. Eight soldiers including the Captain.
Note (2018): Sergeant Blackwell's old team. Does he knows about Broken Statue?
Team 8, Third Ranger Batallion: Officer in command, Captain Taylor Smith. Assigned to arrive in Beirut, Lebanon. Ten soldiers including the Captain.
101th Combat Aviation Brigade: Officer in command, Captain Michael Woods. Assigned to arrive in Yamena, Chad. Twenty soldiers including the Captain.
Note (2018): Sergeant Jackson was part of it. As far as I'm aware, he's an old friend of Alicia. How much does he know?
4th Group, Second Raider Batallion: Officer in command, Captain Nick Sawyer. Assigned to arrive in Cairo, Egypt. Thirteen soldiers including the Captain.
720th Group, USAF Special Operations: Officer in command, Captain Janette Lahiffe. Assigned to arrive in Brazzaville, Congo. Nine soldiers including the Captain.
Task Force 267, First Raider Batallion: Officer in command, Captain Alicia Marchant. Assigned to arrive in Luanda, Angola. Seven soldiers including the Captain.
The result were variated and also were the times. Inside the Sahara Desert there was little to no result regarding the objectives. SEAL 3, the 101th and the 4th found basically nothing during the raids and went back to the bases they were assigned to. On the other hand the 720th found some information, not about the cache, but about the specific cities it was planned to be used.
The ones who got it worse were Team 8 and the 267, Lebanon and Angola. In Lebanon they found the information they needed about the cache, but it was a trap to cause the highest possible causalties. From ten soldiers, three died during withdrawal and two were severely injured, also the other five were hospitalized during weeks after they came back to the base.
Note (2016): It's suspected the use of chemical weapons. What does it mean for us?
But the Task Force 267 found their objective, unfortunately not the way they would have wanted. It had been an ambush at mid way, and they were captured under unknown circumstances. Just a day later they were reported MIA by the intelligence and pilot assigned to them. Almost three weeks later the recon teams intercepted a signal, weak, but with a code that only US troops knew and those pointed to especific coordinates.
Note (2018): What were those circumstances? And how Carabalí knew where to put the ambush?
A recon team was sent to look for survivors. There was one, Captain Alicia Marchant, who had in her hands the proof of the objective death. Soon they discovered the death of the rest of the Task Force, as well they found an extinguished bonfire filled with black bones. Later test revealed the identity of the remains, they were given back to their families for the private funerals.

Archive 08341376: Case Broken Statue (July 15th, 2016). First interrogation since the rescue. 10 minutes.
▶️ ------------------------- 0:00/10:05
"Are you the missing Captain Alicia Marchant?"
"Affirmative"
"Are you the former officer in command of Task Force 267?"
"Affirmative"
"Who were your people?"
"Lieutenant Richard Porter, callsign Blade. Sergeant Leo Jameson, callsign Tiger. Sergeant Kate Petrova, callsign Hope. Corporal Sean Walker, callsign Marble. Private Arthur Greenhill, callsign Lotus. And Private Jason King, callsign...Runner"
"Right. You doubted in the last one, Captain"
"Wouldn't you doubt if you feel guilt?"
"Guilt?"
"We said nothing about this Command, they all died because of it. It should have been me"
"The recon team said you eliminated every person inside that place, including Carabalí"
"...I did"
"How did you do that?"
"..."
"I need a verbal answer, Captain"
"The way I did it, it doesn't matter. What matters is the fact that Anwar Carabalí is dead and you have the nuclear cache coordinates"
"You know about the cache?"
"He was frustrated because of the raid in Lebanon, the reason was just simple logic"
"Why didn't he kill you?"
"I have no idea, but it was his mistake"
"You brought your team's tags with you"
"They deserved to be near their family, not inside that hell"
"What about yours?"
"Guardian ceased to exist the moment I was in that room. She'll never come back to the surface"
"And who are you now?"
"Difficult to say yet"
"How did you fight with the wounds you had? The medical record shows you were seriously injured"
"I...rather not to think about it"
"You seem surprisingly calm"
"..."
"Captain?"
"Just because I don't scream, hit and cry, it doesn't mean I'm not in grief or boiling with anger, son. Look me in the eye and tell me. Am I Calm?"
"W-what they did to you?"
"Many things. It isn't something you want in tape"
"I see, did you find any other information?"
"Not that I'm aware of, it wasn't really my priority at the moment"
"Alright, I guess we ended h..."
"The other leaders, what about them? I just get rid of one"
"...Dead"
"Good to know"
"What would you have done if they were alive?"
"I think the answer is pretty much obvious"
"Again, I need the answer"
"I would have took care of them myself"
"...We ended here"
End of the recording.
Note (2018): Six leaders and Carabalí. If she got rid of one, where and how the other five died? Is there any proof?
Note 2 (2018): They didn't. For some reason they let them live. Well, not for much, not when Alicia learn about this.
Archive 08341377: Case Broken Statue (July 16th, 2016). Recon Team member interrogation. 6 minutes.
▶️ ------------------- 0:00/06:30
"Are you Private Mark Bauer?"
"Yes sir"
"Team?"
"SEAL 7, sir"
"What was your role during the rescue?"
"I was the escort in case there were survivors"
"You were the first one who saw what happened inside, weren't you?"
"...Yes sir"
"Private, what can you tell me about the state you found Captain Marchant?"
"It isn't something I want to see ever again"
"Elaborate"
"I heard before about the Captain, but I never expected she was so...brutal"
"Brutal?"
"She emerged covered in blood head to toes, and we still not sure if it was hers or not. Honestly, I don't understand how she was awake and walking with the kind of wounds she had"
"What do you think about it? It was hers or not?"
"Considering what she had in her hands? I'm inclined to think it wasn't"
"What she had in her hands?"
"A head. Carabalí's head to be specific. And a box, not that I'm aware what was inside nor I want to know."
"The head?"
"Yes sir. I'm sure it was, and later on we found the rest of the body inside an office"
"Alright, something else you can remember?"
"Her expression"
"Explain"
"Whatever that place made to her...she's not stable, I would be terrified if someone touches something of hers. Her eyes didn't have any trace of mercy or sanity. I'm sure she would have killed us if we did a wrong movement"
"We ended here"
End of the recording
Note (2016): A further psychiatric evaluation is required before even consider let Capt. Marchant be back to her duties.
Note (2018): The results were decent and she was approved to go back a year ago. However, she'll be required to see a psychiatrist every six months. I. Don't. Want. Incidents.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Medical record: Captain Alicia Marchant, patient 8-07

Sharp wounds: Arms, legs and torso
Cuts to the hipodermis: Face, back and legs
1st grade burns: Breasts and abdomen (partially healed)
2nd grade burns: Forearms (INFECTED) (Antibiotics were prescribed to control the infection)
3rd grade burns: Neck (There was minimal damage to the blood vessels, muscles and nerves) (Estimated recovery time: Six weeks to eight weeks)
Fractured bones: Fourth, seventh and tenth ribs, left fibula
Cracked bones: Right humerus, left radius
It might be needed run some test to discard any kind of infection due to the contact between blood and the wounds. Rehab is mandatory to recover the correct movility on legs and arms after the bone fuse back. The psychiatric treatment must be regular (if not daily) until the permission to go back to duty, and even after, it'll be sporadic.
Note (2018): There are days when I don't understand how Alicia is alive. I hope Blackwell can keep her alive and out of the hospital.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Information obtained
Coordinates (nuclear cache): Islas Turneffe, Belice. 17°28'27.4"N 87°48'50.6"W
Fire power: Three hundred and five kilotons, divided in eight bombs.
Objectives:
Houston, US.
Rio de Janeiro, Brasil.
Frankfurt, Germany.
Lyon, France.
Osaka, Japan.
Yakarta, Indonesia.
Bagdad, Irak.
Venice, Italy.
Medellín, Colombia.
Note (2016): We expected that, due to Carabalí's hate for America, there would be more of our cities in the list. It's a relieve this isn't the case.
Note (2018): Two years ago my superiors conducted an investigation to find the reasons of selecting this cities. I can understand why cities like Yakarta and Bagdad, capital cities, and Osaka, Rio and Medellín, big cities important for the country economy, were selected. I'll have to look for the archives and files with the investigation results, maybe I'm missing something about it.
Causalities: Nine soldiers and thirty four members of Carabalí's web.
Three soldiers from Team 8, Rangers. (Cause of death: Intoxication with clorhidric gas and sharpnel wounds)
Six soldiers from TF 267, Raiders. (Cause of death: Undetermined)
Note (2016): We might ask Captain Marchant about it. She might have the correct answer about it.
Note (2018): They actually tried to ask her just days after the rescue. I guess they are lucky to keep their heads and limbs. Now part of my superiors are kind of scared of her.
Twenty two members of Carabalí's web dead in Lebanon. (Cause of death: Bullet wounds and blood loss)
Twelve members of Carabalí's web dead in Angola. (Cause of death: Slit throats, blood loss, crushed traqueas, broken necks and one with bullet wounds)
Note (2016): To whoever read this. DON'T ASK ABOUT IT.
Note (2018): I just went to talk to my superiors about this. I'm pretty sure at least two of them flinched when I asked about the time they "talked" with Alicia. They are terrified. This will be an amazing anecdote to tell the team.
Objective: Anwar Carabalí (KIA)
