RepCom Sequel please
I’m at this point in my life that literally the only thing I want from official Star Wars is a sequel to the Republic Commando game just to see Delta Squad be together again and hear their banter.
I don't care for the plot, I don’t care for why and how. Delta may go rogue on the next mission since they were still on Kashyyyk, they may go rogue straight after talking to Yoda, Sev could rescue himself and come back or Vau actually could find him and free from captivity. I really, really don’t care, retcon the ending of the game if needed - and I’m saying it as someone who hates retconning sources because of new stuff.
Just give me Boss, Fixer, Sev and Scorch having the happy reunion and the happy ending they deserve after real-time twenty years of being apart and devastated. Let Delta roll together again through the Kashyyyk like the pro they are and whatever else planet, fighting side-by-side and being snarky and whole, while Vau with Mird are tagging alongside and being no less snarky and him telling all the embarrassing stories about Deltas because of nostalgia or whatever, because the more the merrier. Just let those emotionally closed-off people have the true family trip through dark galaxy and enjoy the life for once at least.
Do I really ask for that much?

Tumblr media
You love your job. As a GAR tactical analyst assigned to the Venator-class Star Destroyer Guarlara, you spend your days immersed in clone trooper helmet feeds. It might seem boring or tedious to some, but with your keen eye for detail and extensive knowledge of tactics, it is as close to a perfect occupation as you can imagine.
Besides, the clones are pretty entertaining. You always love the snippets of banter that pop up in their comm feeds, from gallows humor, to good-natured mockery, to genuine awe or delight at a new planet. Seeing the galaxy from the perspectives of these men, who have seen too little of beauty and too much of the chaos and horror of war in their short lives, gives you a new appreciation for its wonders.
At first, you try to maintain some professional distance from the troopers, if only to preserve your sanity when so many of them are lost in each engagement, and you have the responsibility of watching as their helmet feeds fade to black. But it isn’t easy. The battlefield camaraderie you witness in their feeds continues onboard the Guarlara, and you can’t help being pulled into it. You make friends with a few clones, and every time they go on a mission, you hold your breath until they come back safely.
It doesn’t help your resolve to keep them at arm’s length that you are surrounded by incredibly handsome, competent soldiers in peak physical condition. Several of your fellow nat-born analysts have already had flings with clones, and by all accounts, the experience is worth the risk of official reprimands or even demotions. You haven’t done it yourself—yet—but you’ve been tempted.
And the temptation just got one thousand times stronger.
A new clone commando unit has been temporarily assigned to the Guarlara: Delta squad. Regular clone banter is entertaining, but the Deltas are on a whole different level. Boss is all business, and Fixer is quiet and by-the-book, but Scorch and Sev are hilarious. You often have to bite your lip to keep from bursting into unprofessional laughter at their antics, even as you are blown away by their tactical prowess.
You find yourself saving the Delta feeds for the end of your work cycle, just so you can finish your day on a high note. Sometimes, you wish you could get your hands on some Mantell Mix while you’re watching the feeds. They’re better than any holoflick you’ve ever seen. If only they could be released to the public; they would make a blockbuster action comedy.
But there’s another reason you are quickly becoming obsessed with the Delta feeds.
The first time you hear Sev’s voice, you gasp, and prickles run down your neck. He sounds different from the other clones: deep, gravelly, menacing. Incredibly sexy. You often find yourself replaying snippets of his comm feed, just so you can hear him speak. Whether he is making a dark joke, tallying his kills, or snarling at an enemy, his voice never fails to make you breathe a little faster.
You have never met the squad, never seen their faces, though you’ve seen them in their distinctive armor around the ship. The commandos mostly keep to themselves. You aren’t even sure which armor belongs to which commando, though you would bet every credit of your cycle’s pay that Sev is the one with the helmet painted to look like a bloody handprint.
You know that the commandos were the same height as all the rest of the clones, but somehow, they seem larger. More solid. Far more intimidating. Maybe it is the armor, but you doubt it. And you’d be lying if you said you didn’t think about what Sev looks like under all that bulky commando armor. Lying in your bunk during your sleep cycle, you picture him. Copper skin, curly black hair, eyes the color of amber. Hard, sculpted muscles. Broad shoulders, narrow hips that flex against yours, driving his thick cock deep inside you until you whimper his name. And of course, you imagine his voice: deep and dark, murmuring the filthiest words in your ear as he pounds into you with that incredible clone commando stamina.
When you meet up with your fellow analysts for lunch in the mess hall, you confess that a clone has finally caught your eye—or more correctly, your ear.
“He has the sexiest voice I’ve ever heard,” you say, keeping your volume low so as not to attract attention from the troopers eating at nearby tables or milling around in small groups.
“They all do,” laughs Drinna. “They’re clones!”
“This one is different,” you insist. “It’s so deep and growly. He sounds so… dangerous.”
Jeelee shivers next to you, and you don’t blame him. None of your friends can deny that the rush of adrenaline is at least a small part of their attraction to the clone troopers. There’s just something about a soldier who has been trained from birth to be a killing machine that activates your fight, flight, or fuck response.
“Stars, I never thought I’d get turned on listening to someone yelling, ‘Trando scum,’” you say with an uncertain laugh. “If it weren’t a massive security breach, I’d try to smuggle some of his feeds into my bunk for a little private viewing session.”
Drinna snorts with laughter, and the group hurries to finish the meal before you all have to get back to your stations to close out your work cycle.
---
Sev can’t believe his ears. He’s sitting in the mess staring at the empty table where you and your friends were just sitting. He’s off duty and wearing only his black body glove, which is why you don’t notice him sitting alone when your group takes the table next to his. But he notices you. How could he not? He’d spotted you the very first day he and the Deltas came aboard.
He isn’t completely sheltered. He’s met nat-born GAR personnel before, including a few female officers. And he has made the rounds at 79’s during Delta squad’s all-too-rare shore leaves. But something about you grabs his attention. He first notices your laugh. You laugh a lot, and you do it with your whole body. Your eyes light up, your mouth opens in a delighted smile, your head tilts back, your shoulders shake, your tits bounce. One time, he saw you laugh so hard you had to lean against a wall for support when your knees gave out. It makes him want to be the one who makes you laugh.
His keen sniper’s eyes have also spotted you stealing glances at him and the rest of his squad when you pass in the hallways of the Venator. He’s seen you chatting amiably with other clones, and he wonders why you never try to talk to the Deltas. Maybe she’s intimidated, he thinks. He doesn’t blame you.
When he overhears you talking to your friends, he doesn’t think much about it. He just enjoys getting a little glimpse into your life. And then he hears it: “... turned on listening to someone yelling, ‘Trando scum.’ If it weren’t a massive security breach, I’d try to smuggle some of his feeds into my bunk for a little private viewing session.”
Sev nearly chokes on his nutrient paste, and for once, it’s not because of the flavor.
It’s me, he realizes. She’s talking about me.
All this time he’s been watching you, and now he knows you’ve been thinking about him. Getting off to his voice. Imagining him during your “private viewing sessions.” The thought of it has him semi-erect in the middle of the mess hall, with no armor to disguise his state. He spends a long time eating his nutrient paste.
---
The next time the Delta feeds update, you notice that Sev’s is a little longer than the other three. As usual, you save his feed for the last of your day. You take a quick look around to make sure nobody is watching, which is ridiculous, because this is literally your job. But you can’t help feeling a wicked little thrill as you queue up his feed, as though you are about to do something forbidden. You settle the headphones over your head and turn up the volume as you press play.
The holofeed isn’t what you expect. Instead of a battlefield or the inside of a gunship, you see a barracks filled with empty bunks. It looks spare and sterile. The bunks don’t even have pillows; just thin blankets and rough sheets. Your own quarters are austere, but at least you have the luxury of a door and a small refresher. You’ve never seen the inside of the clone barracks before, and you feel as though you are intruding on something private. You reach to scrub forward through the feed, but you halt when Sev’s voice crackles in your headphones.
“I heard a sexy little analyst say she likes my voice,” he says. “I have a present for her ‘private viewing sessions.’ If she comms me the code to her quarters, I’ll know she wants it.”
Oh, stars. He heard. He knows. And he knows who you are. If ever there were a time for the Guarlara to have a small hull breach and launch you into space, now would be the ideal moment! Your heart beats so hard you are sure everyone around you can hear it. You steal a glance out of the corner of your eye, but none of your fellow analysts have noticed anything out of the ordinary.
You send him a quick message. “RC-1207, this is the tactical analysis center. Your helmet feed flashed an error code during your most recent upload. The code is one-one-three-eight-four-echo-bravo. Please run a diagnostic and purge your helmet’s memory bank to prevent corrupted feeds.”
The reply comes almost instantly. “Copy that, tactical. Thanks for the code. That’ll help me track down what I’m looking for.”
You take a deep, shuddering breath, and turn your attention back to the feed. It cuts to the hallway of the Venator as Delta squad heads out for a mission, and the comm feed is just more of their usual banter, followed by their day’s activities in the battlefield.
You scrub back to the beginning of the feed and listen to it one more time before you trim the recording and upload it to the GAR server. You often have to cut out sections of feeds, so the missing section won’t raise any eyebrows, but Sev could get in huge trouble if anyone higher up the command chain saw the original recording.
With shaky hands, you tidy up your workstation as you do at the end of every work cycle. You straighten your uniform, joke with your friends, and head out of the analysis center. You meet up with a few clones in the corridor, and you make your way as a group to the mess hall, where you complain about the bland rations and make plans for your next shore leave. When you’re confident that you haven’t aroused suspicion, you stretch and tell your friends that you’re going to turn in early.
You barely restrain yourself from running through the halls to your quarters. You key in your door code with fumbling hands, and once inside, you spot it immediately: a datachip lying innocently on your pillow. You plug it into your personal player. There’s no holo, but Sev’s voice rumbles through your headphones.
“Get comfortable, beautiful. I want this to be good for you.”
You gasp. You pause the recording and strip out of your uniform in record time, flinging it across your cramped quarters to lie rumpled on the floor. Crawling into bed, you slide naked under your blanket and pull the headphones back over your ears.
“That’s my good girl. Are you naked? Kriff, I hope so. You look hot as hell in your uniform. You must be the prettiest karking thing in the galaxy out of it. All that soft, smooth skin. I want you to feel yourself for me, little one. Run your fingers through your hair. Is it as soft as it looks? Does it smell as good as I imagine?”
Oh, sweet gods, he’s been imagining you, too. You wonder if he has been picturing you when he touched himself. Arousal licks up your spine, tinged with a tiny bit of disappointment that you hadn’t made a move sooner. You push the thought aside, determined to enjoy this moment.
“Now I want you to touch your skin. Slide your hands up and down your body, your arms, your thighs. Cup your tits. Give your nipples a little squeeze. Do you like that?”
You nod, biting your lip and breathing hard. You imagine Sev’s hands, rough and strong and big, and your hand drifts down your belly.
“Don’t touch your cunt, sweetheart. Not yet. I don’t want you to rush this.”
Force, it’s like he’s there with you, watching you, instead of away on some Maker-forsaken planet blasting droids. You obey his pre-recorded commands, wanting to get the full experience.
“Brush your fingers over your neck. Do it gently, like you can feel me whispering in your ear instead of a recording. Touch your mouth, baby. Gods, I wish it was me. Would you lick my fingers? I wonder what you taste like. I bet you taste amazing. Sweet, soft lips, wet little tongue. Fierfek, you make me so hard I could nut right fucking now. How kriffed up is it that I’m jealous of your hands?”
Your breath stutters as you hear another sound in the recording: the rhythmic slide of skin against skin. Oh stars, he is getting off on this, too. Or he already got off. Whatever. You roll your hips instinctively, looking for stimulation.
“Damn it, Sev, let me touch myself,” you whisper.
But you don’t. Not yet. You wait for his permission. Instead, you writhe in the bed, sliding your hands all over your body, pinning your hips to the mattress, touching yourself everywhere except the place you so desperately need.
“If I were with you, I’d take my time. Explore your whole body inch by inch. I would kiss you, and taste you, and suck on your tits until you beg for more. I’d bite your sexy ass and then kiss it better. I’d eat that pretty little pussy until you scream for me. Oh, fuck—” He panted for a moment. “Sorry, honey, I needed a minute to cool down or I was gonna blow early. I don’t want you to think I’m not up to the mission. Because right now, you are my mission. And you know that the mission always comes first.”
You can’t help it: you giggle. It’s endearingly cheesy, but you suspect it’s also true. Once Sev has you to himself—because you have no doubt that he will, and soon—he is going to give you the ride of your life.
“Have you been a good girl for me? Did you touch your pussy before I said you could?”
You shake your head. “Please, please, Sev, I need it.”
“I think you have been a good girl, and now you deserve your reward. I want you to touch your cunt, angel. Just brush your fingertips over it, nice and easy. Are you wet? Kark, I hope so, otherwise I’m doing this wrong. Slip your fingers inside, just a little. Get them nice and slick. Now I want you to play with your clit. Do what you like best, baby. Go hard, or go soft. Rub it in circles, or give it a little tap, or press on it nice and slow. I can’t wait to find out what makes you scream. Do you like it when I suck on your clit? Or maybe you like it a little rougher. Do you want me to slap you, pretty thing? Slap that beautiful little pussy and then lick it better? Or would you rather I go slow and gentle, just barely touching you, taking hours to build you up before I ruin you?”
You moan as you work yourself frantically. You are close, so close, and his voice is doing unholy things to you. You can hear him fucking his fist again, and it turns you on even more to know he is into this just as much as you are.
Sev’s breath grows ragged. “It’s gonna be so good when I fuck you. I know your cunt feels amazing. So tight and wet and warm—fuck—gonna be incredible. I can’t wait, I can’t kriffing wait—gods baby, gonna make me come—FUCK!”
He grunts, and it is loud. You can hear the wet spatter of his orgasm, and the sound of it pushes you over the edge. You feel the entire universe contract into your body, so tight, so hot, and then Fuck! The tension snaps, and you cry out as your body jerks and spasms. You gasp for air, twitching away from your own fingers as your hypersensitive body shudders. Your body is drained, your head is empty, every drop of energy in your being is utterly spent. Your eyes close, and you slip into oblivion.

We’re currently getting reports that there is a Sith found on Mustafar. Please be advised Delta Squad’s Jedi General (wife) has begun fighting with the Sith as Delta Squad continues their mission—
This is just, like, the story of their lives, you know. They have a week of peace and then they're pushed into chaos, before they can have more peace.
"I don't like this." Fixer grumbles as he chases his brothers up the stairs to the top of the palace, "We should be helping Rynn." "We are helping Rynn, by staying out of her way. You know that." Boss says, indicating to his brothers that they were going to breach a sealed door. "Yeah, but a sith?" Scorch moves to the door and starts attaching and priming a mine, "I mean, our General is amazing at just about everything she does, but she'd be the first to tell you that she's not really a swordswoman." "She's good enough," Sev says, "And it's not like she's never fought a Sith Acolyte before." He takes his position to the left of the door, while Fixer takes his position to the right. The explosion bursts the doors inward, and the four men move as one, smoothly clearing the room from droids, before Fixer hurries over to a terminal to start slicing. There's the sound of an explosion from down the hall, and three sets of eyes turn to Scorch accusingly. "What? I didn't do it!" "Here! I have it." Fixer calls, "Kriff, this is a lot of information." "Download as much as you can," Boss says, "Sev, Scorch watch the door."

Andrew Koji in Warrior (2019) The Itchy Onion
San Francisco, 1878. Ah Sahm, a newly arrived Chinese immigrant with serious fighting skills, is introduced to Chinatown's most ruthless tong, the Hop Wei, by Chao, a fixer. After impressing Young Jun, son of tong leader Father Jun, Ah Sahm is branded and taken to a brothel, where he befriends Ah Toy, a courtesan with connections. Later, in search of a woman who left China two years earlier, Ah Sahm crosses paths with Mai Ling and Li Yong, followers of the rival tong leader Long Zii, who is trying to avoid an opium war with the Hop Wei, a war that Walter Buckley, deputy to San Francisco Mayor Samuel Blake, actively promotes. Meanwhile, after two Chinese laborers are killed by white thugs, police sergeant "Big Bill" O'Hara is tasked with creating a Chinatown squad. Enlisting southern-born cop Richard Henry Lee, Bill soon finds that the hostility between the Chinese and white dock workers, whose unofficial leader is Irish tough Dylan Leary, is unlikely to end anytime soon.

If you could spend a whole day with any squadron who would it be and why?
[ 𝕸𝖔𝖔𝖉𝖞𝕸𝖎𝖘𝖙𝖞'𝖘 𝕸𝖆𝖘𝖙𝖊𝖗𝖑𝖎𝖘𝖙| 𝕬𝖔3]
So, I'm gonna use this largely as an excuse to write cute headcanons for my boys, my men, the lights of my life
✨ Delta Squad ✨
Keep in mind not everything here is canon anymore, since some tidbits of the Republic Commando lore, particularly in the books, got written over by TCW show and Disney's canon/legends shitshow
Tumblr media
⊳ Delta squad gets up to mad chaos; Like they can put the 501st to shame with some of the banthashit these mad lads get up to.
As in you could be having a conversation with someone and casually mention a time that Sev rode a spider droid as if that's just a 'normal week with the boys', meanwhile everyone else is like w h a t.
And as such, they make the best clones to spend time around; Because no day is ever boring with Delta Squad on your heels.
⊳ Over the course of one day you'll probably end up making some sort of illegal explosive with Scorch, Sev teaches you the best way to kill a man larger than you with just a vibroknife; Boss attempts to get the previous two to stop teaching you these things, and then you'll drink some sort of hot drink be it tea or caf with Fixer and wonder just how they're some of the best GAR has to offer.
⊳ Being trained hands-on by multiple Mandalorians they more than likely know a decent bit of Mando'a, as well as Mandalorian culture in general, as it's a huge part of their 'unique' upbringing. As such it's hilariously quick even after a short while how much you pick up from them, or what they tell you.
And as for who teaches you all the swear words? Scorch doesn't because he thinks 'you're too cute to say those things', and Boss refuses because he's supposedly got a reputation to uphold.
But one day you end up yelling some sort of horrible Mando'a swear and it turns out Fixer is the one who 'taught' you, because he's constantly mumbling them under his breath and you picked up on them like a keen child. You use it non-stop all day now, and Scorch finds it hilarious.
⊳ Clone commandos are raised from birth in pods of four, making them extremely attached to each other and by extension, super untrusting of anyone outside of their 'pod brothers'. If you become part of that little circle, I don't think there's a droid or Sith or trooper in that galaxy that can stop these guys from being super protective.
If you pick a fight with one you get the rest, and the same goes for you, as well. If you're at a bar and someone doesn't take your 'no' for an answer? They're going to be staring down four extremely displeased commandos.
It's sweet, until the physical altercations start and you have to break them up before things get too crazy.
⊳ And just for a romantic crumb at the end here; If you're romantically involved with any of them, the others will absolutely bully the ever-living soul out of him. Nothing is sacred, and they'll always find a way to get in a jab.
"Did you hunt her down like all those droids Sev? Or did you actually speak some words for once?"
"Just don't blow up the first girl to give you the time of day, Scorch."
"And here I thought Fixer was too busy nagging us to spend time with someone else."
"Awww, Boss brought his cyare with? She's not going to reprimand us for breaking protocol like you do, right?"

If your requests are open, how about delta squads first time with an s/o? 😳 t-thanks!!
Delta Squad Saturday! It's been a while... I miss these boys...
(18+ only below the cut, please and thank you)
Boss: He is 100% a sweetheart, making the night all about his S/O and their pleasure. He is quite romantic when he wants to be, albeit sticking to very traditional and perhaps cliched things, like rose petals and candles and saxophone music and a crackling fire. With the mood set, he lets his S/O decide on the pace from there, not pushing too far too fast, while satisfying whatever need they have when they are ready. He's also making mental notes of what they like so he can continue to be a good lover the next time.
Fixer: He is eager, he is prepared... he is nervous. He ends up talking a lot, babbling on with compliments and questions and random thoughts about nonsense. He thought he knew what he was doing, what this moment was going to be like, but now that it's here, he is overwhelmed by the emotion of it all. His fingers fumble with their clothes, his kisses are sloppy against their skin, his hands are everywhere. His first time with his S/O has a sort of innocent chaos to it that is uncharacteristic of him, but makes it a cute, memorable moment.
Scorch: He has two sides when it comes to romantic gestures, silly and passionate, and his first time with his S/O is a perfect combination of both. He keeps things just lighthearted enough so there are no nerves, no worries, no pressure, just a night of fun and enjoyment. But he doesn't act goofy or dumb about it, knowing this is a big step in their relationship and wanting to indulge in the heat of the moment as well. He guides his S/O through everything, asking them to relax while he takes care of them the way they deserve.
Sev: He takes a while to build up to that moment with his S/O, wanting to be totally and completely comfortable with them so that their first time can be intimate, passionate, and beautiful. For being such a gruff, dark person, he is actually quite deep and earnest with his feelings, especially with his love for his S/O. He wants to show them just how much they mean to him, and in his vulnerability he even pushes down his insecurities and accepts the love they have to show in return. The night is long but very special.

Note
imagine Delta Squad, the Bad Batch, and the rest of the GAR all teaming together (mostly to save the galaxy) the shenanigans in general that'd go down. Fixer & Tech out nerding each other, Hardcase & Wrecker being beefy bros (after getting over the arguing of Wrecker getting in Rexs face), Wolffe & Crosshair having an eye roll off (whom can roll them further backwards before Hunter/Sinker reminds them to stop) just all the bros together the chaos unfolding -Kad'au
This is the type of scenario I like to imagine as I fall asleep. Where they're happy and interacting with each other. Just behaving like siblings.

ABOUT
Name: Hypnos. Suggested Occupations: Creator of Somnus, drug distributor. Age: 20s. Gender & Pronouns: utp. FC Suggestions: Evan Mock, Archie Renaux, Willem De Schryver. (negotiable). Can be seen: Crafting Somnus in Elysium’s backrooms, zoning out during profit meetings, floating around the canals in a gondola, twiddling on a broken screen, scrolling down Dionysus’ feed, leading people to their vices... or their dreams.

CODEX
Dear Hypnos was born laughing, and they never learned to stop. His gaiety may sound like a flash in the pan, but it cuts through the gloom in the House of Hades - and defies both Fate & Chaos. For Hypnos’ auguries, like so many in Tartarus, predicted nothing but darkness. In an ill-omened union, their parents resisted Hades’ rule... and danced to the same grave that swallows all his enemies. It was Nyx who took them in, as she did for so many children of the old world. Perhaps it was lingering guilt for the part she had to play in Hades’ ascent. Perhaps it was guilt for other things - whatever the sin, Hypnos inherited none of it.
Indeed, the sprightly kid seems a stranger to blame. Or grief. Or deceit, greed, and violence. Come to think of it, they are impervious to everything that makes Tartarus what it is. The blood that seeps through the very stones has no course to reach them. Until now, I thought the name their friends gave them - firefly, or fire beetle, depending who you ask - came on account of their white hair. But now I suspect there’s another reason for it. Maybe the Asphodel squad, as they ‘ironically’ call themselves, glimpsed what Hades had not: that Hypnos’ strength laid in their nonchalance. For fixers and Furies abound in the depths, but a purity of nature - a distance taken from misery & tedium - are rare things to find.
Perhaps the Underworld’s King should’ve fostered that spark. Hypnos’ tinkering mind led them from security puzzles to card tables, from casino operations to the deep outreaches of the kitchen. They bored of everything too quickly. Once Nyx allowed them to shadow her, they copied Thanatos’ lead, always lagging a step behind - and staying in the light.
Nyx protected the firefly for as long as she could, but even she had to admit no one wanted a second Zagreus on their hands. Hypnos was to do his part to help Tartarus. ‘The child has been sponging off of us long enough’, Hades rumbled. ‘They’ll be a fixer, like they should’ve gone from the start.’ I couldn’t think of anything worse for the kid - he was always so forgetful as it was. But I avoided to make my case. Few people can speak up in the House of Hades.
In odd ways, I suppose Hades’ threat worked. The horror of becoming a fixer - and following in Thanatos’ grim, unyielding steps - spurred them on. It led to the creation of Somnus: a potent, addictive substance that mellows the mind and heightens the senses. After weeks of laboring over chemical reactions, they found the perfect mix of weakness and power. It was ideally suited to Tartarus’ many services, and a strategic counterpart to Ambrosia’s effects. They all knew they’d stumbled upon gold - Hypnos, Nyx, even Hades.
The trick of an epiphany is that it seldom leaves you freer than before. Now, Hypnos finds themself busy working to keep up with demand - not only in Tartarus, but the whole of Gaia. For Hades has plans to extend Khton beyond his bleak domain... even if he has to go against Arcadia’s laws to do it. Hypnos says nothing about this... but I know it must eat at them. They are not a creature of survival, but one of enjoyment. The fact that all their friends seem caught in three-part tragedies only makes matters worse. Could salvation come from venturesome Dionysus? It is rumoured the couturier offered them a place on his team. Or are they an event planner now? One truly cannot keep up. One thing is certain: Hypnos’ ticket is almost printed out. Will they be brave enough to reach out for it?
CONNECTIONS
Familial connections: Thanatos (siblings of fate, the better half). Nyx (mentor, mother... but don’t let her hear).
Professional connections: Hades (employer... for now). Dionysus (business offer, perhaps the first risk worth taking?).
Social connections: Zagreus (old pal on the road to good & evil). Dusa (veteran Asphodel  sidekick, recently too stressed). Eurydice (a light was there, and now it’s missing). Orpheus (departed Asphodel member, gone to better shores). Megara, Alecto, Tisiphone (the rest of the Asphodel squad, best harbingers of doom). Minotaur (guards the laboratories sometimes, thrilling company... without Theseus in tow).

The Best Nintendo Switch Controller Review
The Pro Controller is fine.
I still recommend it to most people
but if you play a lot of 2D games that the D-Pad placement
just isn't gonna cut it. 8BitDo is been making
fantastic Deepak controllers for a while now.
I originally recommended the old SN30
if you wanted to play a lot of 2D games.
Its biggest flaw was it's ergonomics, making it hard to play
3D games with its thumb sticks.
They fixed that with the release of the SN30 Pro+
a near-perfect controller that quickly became
my favorite controller for the Switch.
I used it so much that I ran it into the ground
and had to buy a new one recently. Almost two years later,
they finally released an updated version,
simply called the 8BitDo Pro 2.
Thank God that name was starting to be a mouthful.
This version adds a lot
to the already fantastic Pro Controller alternative.
If you are on the fence about getting one before,
this one will for sure give you
a couple of pretty good reasons to reconsider.
(upbeat music)
This video is sponsored by Aspyr, the guys who brought you,
the Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy Switch ports
are now bringing you Star Wars Republic Commando.
It's finally on Nintendo Switch
and PlayStation 4 for just 1499.
Check it out at the link in the description below.
Whoa! Whoa! Come on, dude.
Chaos has erupted throughout the galaxy.
As leader of an elite squad of Republic Commandos,
your mission is to infiltrate, dominate,
and ultimately annihilate the enemy. You will play as Boss,
leader of the special ops unit Delta Squad
together with Fixer, Scorch and Sev
working together as a team
instinctively, intelligently, instantly. You guys all right.
I was here first and then you guys just came.
Battle a variety of highly intelligent and deadly enemies
from brutal Trandoshan mercenaries, all right.
To the flying insectoid warriors of Geonosis.
This game was originally released in 2005
and I think is a crucial part of Star Wars history.
I love this era of Star Wars games and I love that Aspyr
is putting some games from this era on the Switch.
So again, you can try it for yourself for just 1499
at the link in the description below.
(water bubbling)
Sorry anybody got a USB-C charger.
(water bubbling).
So if you're new here
the biggest reason why I recommend this controller
is because of the D-pad. It's perfectly clicky.
It feels almost exactly like an original S.N.E.S controller
but you know, newer obviously. But it also has
all of the makings of a great modern controller.
It's thumb sticks feel almost exactly
like a DualShock 4 thumb sticks, making this a great option
for 3D games if you need something that could do both.
Here's something I often forget to mention.
It comes with a rechargeable battery, but it can be removed
and replaced with two double A's if you're in a bind,
something Microsoft should take note of.
It also has great motion controls and rumble.
The only thing that it's missing
that the Nintendo Pro Controller has is NFC.
But at the significantly lower price point,
are you really gonna be missing NFC that much?
The original SN30 Pro+ was and still is $45.
This new one bumps the price up to $50,
which is still a reasonable price
and some harsh competition for Nintendo's $70 controller.
It also works on Switch, Windows, Mac, Android,
and Raspberry Pi via Bluetooth, which is great
if you wanna play emulators or 2D games via Steam.
It's an all-around great controller
and I haven't even mentioned any of the new features yet.
Everything that I've said is also available
on the older $45 model.
The Pro 2 Sports 2 assignable back buttons.
This is a very welcome addition
and something I wish more controllers included.
My only gripe here is that
they're a little too easy to press. They're very large.
It's very difficult to grip the controller
without touching these buttons with your middle fingers.
In an intense game of Mario Maker
I accidentally press these buttons many times.
Luckily, by default they're assigned to nothing.
So pressing them did nothing at all.
You can assign functions to these buttons
using the brand new 8BitDo companion app.
In fact, you can remap all of the buttons
using the companion app.
And there are three different assignable profiles
that you can swap between on the fly.
Technically there's four because
there's just a baseline default one which is great
for when you don't wanna accidentally hit the back buttons.
Pressing this button right here switches between the modes.
There's off one, two and three.
In addition to remapping the buttons,
this software also allows you to fix the sticks dead zones.
It's also supposed to let you fix the trigger sensitivity,
but I couldn't figure out how to do that in the app.
I can only figure out how to do that on the desktop version.
But I like having my trigger sensitivity set really high
so they're like hair triggers because almost no Switch games
registered trigger sensitivity anyway.
Upon further review it seems that they disabled
the trigger sensitivity tab for the Switch.
So they got rid of trigger sensitivity
entirely for the Switch which is weird
'cause there are games that could still use it.
But if you go to Android or DInput or whatever,
it shows the trigger sensitivity, which is very strange.
You can also adjust vibration levels and of course,
macros, which go great with the new additional back buttons.
Previously, I used to assign macros to the share button.
Now I don't have to, unfortunately, the macro functionality
still, isn't very intuitive. You have to program it yourself
in the app, one button at a time. You can set the timings
between button presses but that's way harder to do
than just inputting a macro yourself on the controller
and having it record your inputs.
Something I've seen in a few other devices lately.
I hope that 8BitDo can eventually update
the Ultimate software and the Pro 2's firmware
to have this sort of functionality.
Because right now the macro function is pretty much
all only useful for like fighting games.
They did add the ability
to use thumb stick inputs for macros.
So if you have more patience than me
you can figure out some macros for Smash Brothers.
What might be more useful is assigning a turbo button
which is useful for many games, namely Animal Crossing.
I have a whole video on that if you're interested.
The old Pro+ had a turbo function but with this new Pro 2,
it might be worth it to assign one of the back buttons
to enable the turbo function. You can also have
the other back button assigned to hold.
So it will hold down a button forever.
So you can breeze through long menus or something.
Another useful feature that was recently added.
You can set the left stick to be swapped with the D-pad.
This is useful for games like Link's Awakening,
which should have D-pad support, but it doesn't.
There's also an option
to swap the right stick with the triggers.
I think that's some fighting games.
But my favorite part about this new mobile app
is that it allows you to change your settings on the fly.
You don't have to disconnect it from your Switch at all.
You can have it connected to your Switch
and the app at the same time.
This is something that you could not do
with the previous desktop app. This is huge for figuring out
the timing of macros or finding out the right button mapping
for yourself and immediately trying it out in the field.
One of my least favorite things
about wireless controllers like this
is connecting it to the Switch.
I often find myself just (indistinct) the button
till it finally comes up.
This controller alleviates some of that pain
by adding a mode switch on the back.
On the previous Pro+ you had to hold Start and Y
to enter switch mode. Windows, Android, and iOS,
all had different corresponding face buttons.
You expect me to remember all those.
There was also no indication
what mode you were currently in.
Now it's as easy as just flipping the switch.
You have Nintendo Switch, Apple DInput and XInput.
XInput is for Windows and Android.
DInput is for like old. I don't know it's
just probably don't worry about it. Other than all that
the only other real difference is it's enhanced grip
which is really just a textured back
similar to the textured back
of the new DualSense controller.
Other than that, this controller feels exactly the same
as the old SN30 Pro+ controller.
Switching between the two reveals that the face buttons
feel more responsive on the newer one.
Maybe it's because it's newer
and I used the shit out of my old one.
It's hard to tell.
- Oh no. - Hit the button, dude.
I think this controller.
(upbeat game music)
You know, I'll try, I'll try the top ones.
The buttons, the build quality, everything feels the same.
The Pro 2 comes in gray, black and GB edition.
I pre-ordered myself the Game Boy looking one
so I'll be getting that one when it eventually comes out.
But 8BitDo sent me their gray edition one, which looks like
it's attempting to resemble a PlayStation 1 controller.
It's an okay design. The A, B, X, Y buttons
colored like PlayStation buttons is like unsettling.
It's like a sin. The strongest design that they have
is definitely the Game Boy looking at one.
8BitDo used to have controllers that looked almost exactly
like Super Nintendo and N.E.S controllers,
but I'm sure they strayed away from that
so that they weren't bullied by Nintendo's lawyers.
It's also probably why they don't have
a Super Nintendo looking one at all anymore.
But I mean, the feel of the controller
is more important than anything else. And for 2D games,
there's nothing better than this,
until you find your Lord and Savior keyboard keys baby.
So if you haven't yet picked yourself up a 8BitDo controller
now might be the time to make the jump.
$5 extra for the back buttons,
the updated Ultimate software, the mode switch,
the custom profiles that can switch on the fly.
Yeah, I'd say it's worth it to get this version
over the original or Pro. Now is it worth upgrading to
if you already have an original SN30 Pro+.
That I'm not sure about.
Maybe if yours is starting to feel like shitty.
I know mine started to feel like
a little unresponsive, I guess.
I don't know how to describe it other than
it just got shitty and then I had to buy a new one.
But if you're perfectly content with your original SN30 Pro+
then it's probably not worth dropping an extra $50
on a brand new controller. It's like 90% the same controller
and about 10% new hotness. Or maybe I'm sure
you could find a way to justify it.
Maybe you could teach your grandma how to do Kaizo Mario.
What do you guys think about the brand new 8BitDo Pro 2?
It's a lot easier to say at this time.
Is this gonna make you finally make the jump
into getting an 8BitDo controller? Or it's something that
you would consider upgrading to from the original?
I don't think you really need to
unless like yours got like old crappy.
If you have a Nintendo Switch Pro controller already,
and you find yourself playing way more 2D games
this might be worth getting in addition to.
I mean it's like a second,
you get a second player with it to.
Leave in the comments below, add me on Twitter
and all this social media garbage.
As always we have new videos here all the time,
at least once a week.
This week, I think you're getting two, lucky you.
And we got streams over on twitch.tv/wulffden
where we can hang out and chat with each other
about stuff like this. Look at that.
Make sure you turn on notifications for all of that stuff
so you know, when we go live
'cause you can't rely on YouTube or Twitch to tell you.
But of course the most important thing right now
is just subscribe. Thank you.
I appreciate you for wanting to watch these videos.
And share this video with a friend.
A friend who maybe hasn't gotten
one of these controllers yet and it's still stuck
with the freaking regular role Pro controller.
Or maybe they're using the freaking split Joy-Cons
like a real, degenerate.
(gentle music)
Thank you. Have a good week.
