So I am on my 5th reread of The Darkest Powers, and I always felt (since my first reread) that - despite the fact that apparently Kelley Armstrong somehow didn't write the first book with chlerek endgame in mind - there is some chlerek foreshadowing in book one already... But this time I feel like it's not subtle, it's not foreshadowing, it's just straight up pure crush in front of my salad!

Maybe it's the rose tinted glasses of an obsessive shipper... But I swear I found so many tiny tiny things-

i'm not picky at all when it comes to books. when i'm reading, i always like it. maybe i'm just very talented at choosing my books who knows.

there's two exceptions : the darkest powers by kelley armstrong, a fantasy story with romance and a love triangle with two brothers

and les trois mousquetaires by alexandre dumas.

and you know what ? the darkest powers was still a better reading expérience.

i hate you alexandre dumas.

This is Rio Vidal aka Lady Death who's quietly checking on her wife. Like everyone was focus on Alice and worried about Teen but not Rio. Who actually should bc someone just died and she's going to have to collect her body/soul to take her to the other side.

And what is she doing? She was only looking at Agatha and checking on her as good as she could in that moment. Because she knew Agatha probably won't let her and she had to do her job afterwards so there won't be time for it.

FINALLY! Stopped myself from making even more, honestly, and it'd take 20 years to only write the thought behind all the design choices by proxy, so take some visual notes instead of just word vomit lol. There's so many directions for a darker look to take inspo from!!!

Begging to keep the blue-black-yellow, or add red, because Nolan's red visually demonstrates how fitting blood looks on him, while Mark's og suit visually screams how much it stands out on him, by sporting primary colors. Like red gloves = bloody hands, y'know?

It's not just the obvious hate Rio holds against Evenora because she defently knows of things she did to Agatha or how she was hurt for Agatha too when her mother told her she was born evil. It's also this:

The way Agatha only moved again in the moment her mother started to focus on Rio. The whole time she didn't thought of moving. She stood up there, where she had a safe distance between herself and her mother. But when Evenora began to walk/float towards Rio, she almost immediately went down the stairs. She was ready to face her former abuser and wanted her mother to focus on her rather than let her anywhere near Rio.
