A/n: This is set during later season 2, we're gonna forget about Jackson and Hayley together. We're gonna pretend that everyone is happy and Klaus and Hayley don't fight about what's best for Hope or try to take her away from each other every other episode and are actually good together.

Mikael is back. Davina brought him back from the other side almost a year ago. You've seen Kol and Finn in their new bodies and were completely freaked out by Finn. He had tried to kill you. You wouldn't leave your brothers or Hayley's side no longer than five minutes for almost two weeks.

Mikael had boomed into the abattoir, white oak stake in his hand, ready to kill. He laid his eyes on you the moment you ran into the room where you heard a familiar man's voice yelling. You regretted it as soon as you saw your father. The same father who had been tracking you and your siblings down for the past millennia.

You had thought Nik had already killed him, he told you he had. Did he lie?

Mikael went straight to you. You loudly screamed and tried to vamp speed out of the way, but he was too fast for you. He had caught you in his arms and pressed the stake right at your tiny chest.

As soon as your loud scream pierced the walls of the old building, the room was immediately full of your older siblings; Bekah, Nik, and Lijah, as well as Marcel and Hayley, whom you'd grown really close with since she was pregnant in the early months.

"LET HER GO" Klaus bellowed, his eyes flash a striking amber. His anger is through the roof, no one touches his baby sister and lives, no one. He starts to stalk his way over, followed by Elijah.

"Don't come any closer, boys" Mikael spat at them. You whimpered loudly as tears ran down your reddened cheeks. All you want is your big brothers.

"No" You hit your father's shoulder and tried to pull away from him. All that does is make his grip on you tighten to a painful extent. Even with your vampire healing, it hurts tremendously.

Veins appear under Hayley's eyes, enraged at Mikael for even going near the poor little girl. She uses her hybrid strength and lunges at him. She knocks the white oak stake out of his hands and bites him on the shoulder opposite you. She takes you into her arms and quickly vamps you back over to Marcel before returning to Mikael, along with Elijah, Klaus, and Rebekah.

Your big sister grabbed the stake into her hand and vamped towards where Elijah and Klaus were pinning Mikael down each on one side and Hayley's arm was wrapped tightly around his neck. She shoved the stake right through Mikael's heart. Flames blaze across Mikael's body and clothing. His screams echoed through the whole compound.

They all backed away from the burning corpse of the vampire who hunts vampires, watching as he burned from the inside out.

Marcel had you tucked against his chest, hand on the back of your head so you didn't have to watch the fight going down. You sobbed into his shirt, scared out of your mind. You want, you want Hayley.

She was the one who took you from Mikael. You pull away once Marcel's grip slackens a bit after Mikael burns.

You outstretch your arms towards the hybrid. Hayley quickly comes over to you and brings you into her arms gently. She turns back around to the other three originals, Klaus has a hurt look on his face, clearly wishing you had wanted him.

Hayley feels guilty, mouthing 'I'm sorry' to him. Elijah nods in response to her before looking at his younger brother and Rebekah places a hand on his shoulder.

"She has no means to hurt you, Nik. Don't think about it too much. She loves all of us" Rebekah whispers to him. Klaus takes a deep breath before nodding in response to her. He knows he shouldn't hold it against you, you may be over 1000 years old, but you're 2 years old, with a mind and thoughts that come with it, even as a vampire. And he knows you love him, he shouldn't hold it against you.

He nods to Hayley, a smile twitching at his lips, before turning to the burnt to a crisp corpse.

"Well, we should tend to the trash, shall we, sister?" Klaus smirks towards Rebekah. "We shall" She smirks back to him.

Klaus walks over to your tiny, shaking body in Hayley's arms and places a hand on the back of your head before kissing your forehead. He then goes over to their father, putting his arms behind his back as he brainstorms what to do next.

Rebekah walks over to the two of you next and places a kiss on the crown of your head. "I love you, sweetie" She runs her hand through your soft hair before going over to where Nik and Elijah are.

Hayley walks towards the stairs, nodding at Marcel, to which he nods back before walking off to the room he was in before Mikael showed up.

She bounces you in her arms, trying to soothe and calm you down. "Oh, It's okay, Baby. He's gone. He's gone now" She holds you close. you lean into her warmth and grip your pudgy hands on her shirt.

"No need to cry no more," She says, starting to tear up herself. She walks into her room and opens the door to the nursery. She goes over to the crib where a baby Hope lays, eyes open, looking up at the mobile. And now her eyes land on her Mama and you.

You hear the tiny mewling sounds from Hope, and look up from Hayley's chest to the baby. you let go of her shirt with one hand and reach to Hope.

Hope sits up from where she was lying down, looking up at you. She has loved you from the start, even though she can't talk yet, but knows that love is returned back from you

"You want some time with Hope?" Hayley asks you. You've been obsessed with the baby girl since before she was born, you love her just as much as Hayley and Klaus. You immediately nod your head, "Hopey" you say and let out a grin even with the tear tracks on your face.

Hayley lowers you into the crib with her daughter and watches how you immediately get into a silent conversation with her. You both giggle and play together with the small toys scattered in the crib.

She watches as you both play, a smile on her face. If she could adopt you as her own daughter as well, she would have no second thoughts and do it in one fell swoop. But she knows that your family loves you a great deal.

If she were to be your mother, she would love you so much. She would give you the childhood and life you deserve. She would care for you as a mother like she has been for over a year. There's no way she can express just how much she loves you.

"I love you both so much," She tells you both, watching as you cuddle with each other into the soft blanket. Hope has two pacifiers in her hands. She hands one over to you the best she can and you take it in your tiny from her just as tiny hand.

Hope puts the other in her mouth, just as you put the one she handed you into yours. You both suck on the pacifiers, tiny suckling noises filling the room.

Hayley tries not to physically aww at the action. Both of her babies sucking on soothers. She knows you're older than a normal age of a 'baby', but you're just as a baby as Hope is in her eyes. And the same goes for the eyes of your big siblings.

Klaus walks into the bedroom not long after you and Hope doze off, curled into one another. He looks around the room, "Where's my baby sister?" He asks, worried about you after the event of earlier in the day.

"Shh" she holds a finger up to her lips before nodding down at the dark wooden crib.

He follows her instructions and looks down at the crib, his face softening right away. He watches as his two baby girls sleep, sucking on the pacifiers.

Hayley pulls him into the other room, closing the door so she doesn't wake you two up.

"Is Mikael dealt with? Gone for good?" She asks him. "Yes, he shall not return, never again. the look on her face, I- I froze, he was going to kill her. And it was my fault" His voice wavers.

"Hey, it's not your fault, and nothing happened. That asshole deserves what he got and everything that's coming his way in hell. You're her big brother, Y/n loves you so much" Hayley pulls the elder into a hug.

Klaus stiffens at first before melting into her arms, breathing in her scent. After ten more seconds, he backs away, looking into her eyes, vulnerability shining through them. He covers it back up before his eyebrows scrunch together and a glint in his eyes.

"Was Y/n using a pacifier?" a smile plays on his lips. "Yeah, our daughter thought she would want one and gave one to her.,. Obviously, she was right. I have a feeling they're not going to allow us to separate them for a while" Hayley chuckles lightly.

"I assume that's the same for you with her as well" He crosses his arms, eyebrow raised in amusement.

"Fair enough" Hayley smirks back to him.

You don't leave Hayley and Hope's side for a little while. You love it when you're all having a cuddle session with Hayley or Klaus, or both of them. The pacifier also is starting to seem like a constant. The only one to have a bad word against it is Elijah, saying that you don't need to develop a bad habit of always wanting one. But that's quickly stopped when Rebekah dragged him out of the room and nicely explained how their baby sister using a soother is at the bottom of the list of their concerns.

You love Hayley, Hope, and your siblings to the moon and back.

It’s honestly so weird to me how many KC, CK, and KH stans jump through hoops to justify their “Klaus loves x girl more than Hope” arguments. As if their ship isn’t valid unless they can prove Klaus loved their fave over his own child. Do they not feel a bit odd trying to compete with a infant/toddler/teenage girl for Klaus ROMANTIC/SEXUAL affection??? They act as if Hope herself gave af about who Klaus was dating/actively went out of her way to sabotage any of his ships.

Because while the writing for Klope is very (and I mean VERY) iffy, the one thing that remained constant for all 5 seasons was that there’s no one he would choose over Hope. Joseph said it, the writers said it, Klaus said it, and even multiple characters in the show (Cami and Hayley included) said it.

They're the same people who excuse his or any Mikaelson's behavior, so I'm not surprised.

I'll start with saying that there is no one Klaus could ever love more than his daughter, no one: not Caroline, not Cami and certainly not Hayley. If you don't agree you're just delusional and haven't watched the show, because The Originals is constantly throwing in your face how Hope was the only thing and person Klaus couldn't live without.

Granted, they had no time together at all but Klaus adored her. Saying any woman would come before her is stupid, and while Klaus is impulsive and has done things that could have prevented them from being together (him dying for Cami in season 2 aka giving his own life for her, biting Elijah when Hayley was pregnant aka putting his unborn child in danger, and etc) she has always been his first priority.

"My daughter, my heir, you're my heart" "Because you've helped me feel something that I never thought was possible: unconditional love" "She's my heart and soul" "You are all that matters to me" "Because you are my peace. And I regret a lot of things, but I don't regret a single moment I spent with you. I love you so much" Klaus said all those things to Hope and yet people believe she was second in his life??? Like, what.

Hayley and Cami were definitely important persons in his life, but they would never be as important as Hope. Klaus "allowed" every single thing that Hayley did because she was the mother of his child and he couldn't harm her, not only because Hope would hate him but also because his family wouldn't allow it. I mean, even the episode of her wedding is more about Klaus and Hope that is about Hayley herself. He was terrified of anyone other than him being Hope's father, and Elijah noticed.

"Elijah: Just listen to yourself! Fueled by your delusions of persecution! Think, Niklaus-- if you kill Jackson, the wolves will descend into chaos. You're acting out of fear, terrified that Jackson might be a better father to Hope.

Klaus: Do not bring the child into this.

Elijah: Your child arrived here today, her security strengthened by those wolves that would defend her, and you would jeopardize that alliance? Niklaus, you yourself have mentioned that had you been raised by Ansel, you might have been a better man. Now, perhaps, a better man has entered Hope's life, and having seen that, you are shaken to your core."

And then he proceeded to get jealous about Elijah spending time with Cami. Like, all of season two is Klaus not wanting Hayley to marry Jackson because he knew he was a better man than he could ever be and he could be an even better step father to Hope, of course Klaus didn't want that to happen. And he eventually agreed, because his love and need to be with his daughter was bigger than his fear and etc. And it's something Hayley agreed on: she married Jack because she wanted to, but mainly because her kid could be back home.

Or in 2x12, his whole fight with Jackson was basically him whining and being jealous because he got to met Ansel, his biological father aka the man Klaus had always wanted in his life. And his argument/fight with Hayley just proves my point:

"Klaus: Well, allow me to make this simple for you-- under no circumstances will you divulge any family secrets, especially none that would endanger our child!

Hayley: Except it's not that simple, Klaus. You saw what Finn did. He's growing more powerful by the day. Right now he controls over half of the wolves. This marriage could change that.

Klaus: The outcome of your strategy is not worth the risk it imposes on our daughter."

"Hayley: Klaus, think. We could have a whole army of super-wolves who could protect Hope as one of their own.

Klaus: Hope doesn't need a wolf army! I'll protect her myself! And an easier time I'll have of it, too, without you running off sharing secrets with every motley member of your werewolf brethren.

Hayley: Damnit, Klaus! This is our chance! We can bring her home. We have to at least consider this!

Klaus: I have considered it, and I have deemed it absurd. And in this matter, there is no one above my decree, not even you."

It took three seasons for them to be able to even stand each other, not to talk about the fact that Klaus was cosplaying as a single father for months demanding Hayley came to apologize to him, knowing she was in potential danger. And well, he was in fact flirting with Caroline while being aware Hayley was kidnapped and suffering, so let's not lmao.

It's the same thing with Cami: she was well aware she wasn't Klaus's light and yet she asked him in her deathbed to be the light for Hope and stuff, to let go of his anger and he swore to always carry her with him and etc, and it was clear he did but Hope was still his main priority and the one he loved the most. And Camille loved Hope a lot, Klaus and Hayley and actually all the Mikaelson siblings knew her and were aware about the impact she had on Nik.

Klaus and Caroline are something like a wtf, because when it comes to them the writing for both characters just disappears. But well, Klaus did some decent things for her but he never actually changed until Hope was born (he was forced to tho, but that's another conversation) and Caroline was aware of that. She trusted him with her twins and Klaus with his daughter, and they had a mutual respect in The Originals because they had grown in their own personal ways.

Caroline, Cami and Hayley are all very different women who managed to leave a mark on Klaus, but they weren't even in the top of three persons he loved the most. Hope was the first one, Rebekah the second and Elijah or perhaps himself is the third, not his love interests.

People need to stop being mad about the fact that a daughter is the most important person to a father 💀

When do you think Klaus first realized he was in love with Hayley?

That's a tough question, really cause I think there were several moments through all seasons where you can tell that he was clearly and irrevicably in love with her but then they both go back to hostility so it's impossible to maintain consistency of it but only when we look at the words. The action, each and everyone is the greatest proof that he loved her since the first season.

He had initial attraction towards her when they had a one night stand. But they deepen their bonding, especially when he finds out she's like him, a cast away who learned to fight . And the intimacy blooms until Elijah Mikaelson yours truly, ruins everything and makes Klaus reserved and cold again but by the nothing true scene Klaus's feelings have definitely deepened to what we call love and it's most clearly visible after the witches kill Hayley and kidnap Hope but Klaus stays there holding Hayley's lifeless body with the most pained expression anyone can ever have instead of chasing after the witches. (So yeah he loves her for sure by then)

In season 2, we see his love less openly and frequently as the number of obstacles have multiplied in the form of previously Elijah, now Jackson. But it's visible when he threatens to deposit Jackson's head on a pike if he betrays Hayley, also when he has the most resigned and defeated look possible on his face during Jackson and Hayley's wedding and lastly when he curses her pack into wolf forms instead of slaughtering them even though in Klaus's eyes taking Hope away is like the highest of crimes simply because no matter how much he loathes the action, he can't bear to see Hayley dead.

Season 3 though? Klaus might as well be yelling I LOVE YOU HAYLEY every five minutes. Verbally humiliates him, physically hits him, Klaus's can't even hit back. Sees Hayley hug hope after so long and is literally oozing guilt, like hello since when does Klaus feel guilty for punishing someone. Apologizes to her, saying he was wrong, tell her he trusts her for the second time(HAS NEVER SAID IT EVEN ONCE TO ANY OTHER CHARACTER) , literally thanks her for not abandoning him even though he gave her a thousand reasons and now the chefs kiss KNEELS FOR HER, to save her , and we are talking about the most proud being in entire tvdu.

Counts on her to save his family and him and raise Hope and fully relinquishes his life, the lives of his siblings to her when they are all on the verge of death.

I could talk about this for ages but here's the gist, Klaus began to love her when she stood up against Mikael for him, his father who made Hayley hear every horrible profanity he could attach to Klaus and yet she looks him in the eye and says Mikael said nothing true with so much sincerety that Klaus is at a loss of words. And he spends the next episodes and season trying to stifle the feeling but by season 3 it was basically a public declaration. Sorry for not giving you one specific moment cause they all kind of contribute invaluably. (Thanks a ton for asking this question, one of the best ones)

Danny Phantom AU, what of he was born a halfa and his parents were good parents about it? Mostly fluff but there is an attempted kidnapping/stalking by Vlad, he gets his ass beat at the end by Maddie and a small child Jazz. 1 part, 7,453 words.

The Hobbit Jackson Movies, AU where The Ring falls out of Bilbo's pocket when Thorin is about to toss him over the ramparts and they get into a nasty fight, parallels Ring Maddness with Dragon Sickness, all from Balin's POV. 1 part, 1,858 words.

Our Flag Means Death AU, Badminton killed Stede at the end of episode 9 and Stede's ghost now roams the oceans in a dinghy looking for Ed, Ed finds the ghost. Pure angst and hurt/no comfort with a bittersweet ending. 1 part, 963 words.

The Umbrella Academy AU where Viktor and Klaus work together to hone Klaus's powers I'm secret from the time they're 10 and ultimately this fixes Literally Everything For Everyone, except Reggie because Fuck Reggie. 1 part, 4,766 words.

TMNT 2012 AU, Heart of Evil but Raph goes with Donnie instead and gets hurt, ultimately resulting in Donnie killing Vizioso and Raph helping cover it up plus some Donnie angst because he doesn'thandle it well. Raph's POV. 1 part, 1,892 words.

DHMIS, sort of a character study/headcanon experimental type fic surrounding Red Guy before sunrise trying to cling onto his ideals before the day starts and resets him. 1 part, 577 words.

Do you belief steroline and Klamille were forced, or that they were both slow burns that captured a lot of people’s hearts? If you do think they were forced, which aspects would you bring foward from each relationship to justify it.

If they captured a lot of people's hearts I can't say. I think they did, both ships definitely have lots of fans, which I totally respect. But I'm not one of them, personally. 🤣 Different people are going to have different views, and mine aren't particularly flattering in this case. 🤣

I don't think Steroline was forced, because it does sort of make sense to a certain extent, I just think it was terribly done and it was written in a way that made it seem like Caroline was the only one with real feelings, while Stefan was just trying to get away. He always had to be convinced to stay with her, or to give her a chance, or to spend time with her. Caroline literally guily-trips Stefan into coming back to MF and giving her a shot, it's very nasty, and it only gets worse from there. It should've either ended in an amicable way where the two of them realize that they're better off as friends (which they were) and were mistaking their feelings for each other (which would've made sense), or Caroline should've moved on after one of the thousands of times Stefan leaves her without so much as a satisfaction.

As for Klamille, it did feel very forced to me. Its almost like they decided it had to happen, and then they just stuck with it, inspite of what the general feeling of the story was turning out to be. They didn't have any chemistry, they didn't have anything in common, Camille was a human with no understanding of the supernatural world, and to make her a psychologist who can summarize incredibly old and complex creatures with a few psycho-babble words is not only annoying but very OP. It's almost laughable that she compares being compelled to forget her brother died through magic shenanigans (which was actually a mercy compulsion, she wasn't handling it well at all) to Elijah being tortured into relieving the worst things he ever did in 1000 years of bloodthirsty existence. LOL Cami, please. 🤣

That scene she has with Klaus on the pilot episode with her watching the guy paint in Jackson Square was a good example of how the writers were not on to something good. It made no sense whatsoever for her to suddenly describe Klaus based on that painting alone 🤣 It was very on-the-nose, cheap writing, and that basically marks the whole of Klamille for me. And tbh, they barely interact a lot of the time. Camille is just sort of there, but she never really does anything, she has no story of her own, she's not even as important as Marcel or Davina as a secondary character. She has less screen time in TO than Matt does in TVD. You could just remove her completely from the show, or replace her with anyone else, and it would make no difference. She doesn't add anything besides offering subtitles to Klaus' emotions to the audience and excusing his terrible behavior, in complete opposition to what her character is meant to stand for. The build up to them getting together in S3 in embarrassingly bad. They barely even talk throughout S3, and Cami's vampire persona is awful. It was such a mess they had to kill her off. lol

I think there were ways they could've developed their relationship to make it more appealing, more realistic to Klaus' character and more gripping as a romantic interest, make it seem like a real slow burn rather than a very distant side plot that came up every ten episodes or so. But to me, at least, they failed miserably and I never bought it.

Hello again!

Full disclosure, this is gonna be one of those posts to scratch an itch cause I just started thinking about it and now I’m heated. Not really, but really.

So an aspect of the originals I absolutely love is the finales. Every season finale is exceptional for a different reason, and the best finale conflicts in this show were the ones that made you pick a side.

The best example of this was the season two finale, which pitted Klaus against his entire family, or more specifically Hayley when it came to arguments.

This split was actually rather even on people who said Klaus was in the wrong or that Hayley was in the wrong, and for the longest time I stood in the middle believing that both did some bad things because I hated confrontation and picking a side (I’m bisexual, what do you expect?). That was before, now I have finally decided who was right.

And Hayley did nothing wrong.

I know that’s a very bold statement, I’m putting a pin in this. Please let me explain.

At the start of this conflict it’s hard not to side with Hayley. All she’s trying to do is keep her wolf family together while making up for lost time with her daughter. Then you have Dahlia trying to take Hope away from her, which if you’ve known any mother will bring out anyone’s scary side. On the other side of this conflict is Klaus boldly claiming she has no say in how her daughter will be protected. That scene at the end of 2x16 made me say “okay, I’m team Hayley” with no regrets, but something changed.

The reason for why people are team Klaus is simple, Hayley tried to run away with her daughter without his knowledge or consent, which is wrong. I’m not denying that. But something that is rarely talked about is the truth that hiding in the Bayou, staying away from the Mikaelson’s, and later running away forever weren’t Hayley’s idea. Not a single time does Hayley ever suggest keeping out of Elijah’s sight. The only idea she comes up with during this time is finding a way to mask Hope’s magic, a plan that will ultimately keep her out of Dahlia’s sight.

So if Hayley wasn’t the one who wanted to run, who’s was it? I think we all know. A man child incel named Jackson Kenner.

Yup! This is a part two to my Jackson hate post. In 2x18, it’s Jackson who insists to Hayley that running is the best idea even when she continuously tries to reject it. Hayley is the one giving every reason why she wouldn’t want to do it, but she does decide to run with him because she wants to make him happy. Red flag number one! Next in 2x20 while Jackson is doing everything in his power to prevent Elijah from speaking to Hayley, there’s no issues when she finally comes out of hiding to talk. And later in the episode, Jackson gives her an ultimatum to never see the Mikaelson’s again or he will take the family she’s always wanted and leave her forever. Red flag number two!

This is all clear cookie cutter signs of manipulation. Forcing your partner to do what you want against their wishes, keeping them away from people you don’t like, and giving them ultimatums are textbook abusive behaviors. This is not happening because Dahlia is in town and that means a danger to Hope. This happens cause Jackson wants to leave with Hayley, and his reasoning makes him look worse.

Throughout season two an interesting plot point has to be the dick measuring contest between Klaus and Jackson, which is incredibly one sided despite what Jackson would like to believe. The only thing he has over Klaus is Hayley, which is a reason he tries so hard to keep her away from Elijah because she loves him too and Klaus knows that. Klaus could kill Jackson whenever he’d like, Klaus can and has kicked his ass before and could continue doing so even with the power of a hybrid Jackson gains. This is the root of Jackson’s issues. He’s an alpha male who can’t handle being second place. Sure, he married Hayley, but who fathered her child? Who’s she really in love with? Jackson is behind both Klaus and Elijah and that fact drove him crazy. That is the catalyst of why he wanted to leave. He’s somehow more egotistical than Klaus, but is nowhere near his strength. The dunning Kruger effect in action, and what I see as a perfect example of an incel.

So the writers created a conflict in one character who shows that you don’t need to be a blood sucker to be the worst kind of man, just like they did with Matt Donovan. You might be thinking making Hayley be devoid of agency in this situation is a bit sexist, and yeah. My problems with Hayley are how she was stripped of her own story in favor of attaching her to Elijah and Jackson, but you can understand where she’s coming from. She’s a terrified mother who’s being taken advantage of by someone she already feels guilt towards because of Elijah (another red flag) and trusts has her best interest.

Hayley did nothing wrong.

And none of this is ever explored. The writers seem to think they’re writing Jackson as this good and noble person so come season three Klaus takes all the blame for what happened. Now, Klaus did a lot wrong he should be sorry for, but pretending like it was all him took the nuance of the season two finale and made it boring. The writers had something so good and threw it away just before the finish line. All because we can’t put Jackson in the wrong!

So this was another long post to say again how much I hate Jackson Kenner.

for the wip game: 2, 17, & 35?

Ahh, good choices!! So, “Sex Education Goes Camping” is... kind of exactly what it sounds like. The students of Moordale High are going on one last school trip before their school is closed down for good. Organized and supervised by Colin and Emily, of course. But there’s more than just the tension of the inevitable goodbye they’ll all have to say at the end of it; Adam and Eric haven’t talked since they broke up. Ruby is completely avoiding Otis, who feels terrible about hurting her. Maeve is leaving for America the moment they get back, and doesn’t want to make the goodbye any harder by letting Otis try and convince her to stay. Aimee and Steve have just broken up, but they’re working on being friends. 

Jackson's eyebrows furrow. Maeve frowns. Otis and Eric share another confused look, as do a lot of others.

Spreading his arms, Mr Hendricks loudly says, "You are all utterly fucked! As am I, and so is Miss Sands! Well, I mean we can obviously find other teaching jobs, but it's not exactly easy, so, technically speaking, we are all very much fucked, you're right, Jackson."

Jackson just raises an eyebrow, then looks away. Miss Sands quickly joins Mr Hendricks on the stage as the students chattering gets louder around the room.

"What Mr Hendricks means to say--" Miss Sands shoots him a quick glare as she leans into the microphone, making him take a few steps back from it (and her) "--is that it doesn't have to be all bad!"

"No offence, Miss," Ruby interrupts, "but you're not the one about to have your entire future turned to shit without your consent." 

Miss Sands nods, and says, "No, you're right. I'm only losing a job, but you are all losing the chance to finish your education comfortably -- or maybe at all. And I am... so incredibly sorry about that. I truly wish this wasn't happening to any of us. But it is. And we have to deal with that."

"We have to make the most of the time we have left together," Mr Hendricks chimes back in, taking a cautious step towards the podium. "Which is why us teachers and some of your parents/guardians have banded together to give you lot one last Moordale High experience!" 

More murmuring. Eric and Maeve are already groaning, while Otis looks cautiously hopeful. Many more of them are apprehensive, including the likes of Adam and Ola, but they're sitting up a bit straighter in their seats, waiting to find out the rest. 

They've all experienced many things at Moordale High, not all of them good, but not all of them awful, either. Some of them have been the best time of their lives, like the performance they put on just a few weeks ago to rid themselves of Hope. And some have an utter disaster like their trip to France.

Most of them are assuming it's going to be leaning more towards the latter. And it feels as though their fears are confirmed when Mr Hendricks excitedly, and dramatically, yells, "We're going camping!" 

I completely forgot I hastily named it “Uncle Shawn the Icon” for this asjkdhajksh okay so. Auggie starts experimenting with feminine clothes, something that Cory, Topanga, and Riley are more than supportive of. But, unfortunately, people at his school aren’t as supportive. When he starts acting different (like Riley in that one episode where she was being bullied), they know something is up, and Cory happens to mention it to Shawn. Uncle Shawn who, after spending that week as “Veronica” realized he actually liked presenting as a girl sometimes, and came out as genderfluid. He comes over to have a proper talk with Auggie, and let him see that it doesn’t matter what other people say about them. Bonus: Riley mentions it to her friends because she’s worried about Auggie, and most of them jump to Auggie’s defence. 

"Auggie's being bullied."

Maya blinks. Farkle sits back in his seat. Stunned into silence. Lucas is shaking his head, and Zay and Smackle share a confused glance at each other.

Then comes the eruption.

"Give me names and addresses," Maya demands, voice like sharp ice and scalding lava at the same time, retracting her hand from Riley's arm. Ready to storm out right now to track them down.

That's exactly why Riley doesn't answer her, but she does look at her like she's crazy, and she says, "Maya! They're kids!"

"I'm going to kill them, what do I care if they're twelve?"

Riley's about to tell her she should very much care, because when they were twelve, they benefited much more from being talked to rather than killed. At the same time, they never did anything even remotely like the kids bullying Auggie.

"Did he tell you why they're bullying him?" Lucas asks, sounding like he can't think of a reason why anyone would want to.

"We already had an idea, and Ava told us this morning. He wants to wear skirts. Not just that, but more feminine clothing in general." She drops her head back onto her arms. "He was so excited to wear one of my old skirts on the first day of school yesterday, and now he won't even come out of his room. I don't know how to help him because he won't talk to any of us."

"Those little b--"

"Language," Riley says flatly, not even having the heart to really care if she finishes her sentence or not. Honestly, she feels like doing it for her. "I know, Maya, I'm mad too. I just don't know what to do about it."

"Say something," Farkle says.

Riley lifts her head and turns in her seat to look at him curiously.

"Your parents could say something to the school," he suggests. "I can't guarantee it would stop them, but if we were vocal enough about it--"

"We?" Riley asks, eyebrows raising.

Farkle looks at her seriously, and says, "My dad could make the loudest noise, and I know he would do it if I asked him to. It's Auggie, Riley. Of course I'm not just going to stand by."

"Yeah, and besides, no one should be bullied for what they wear," Maya adds, throwing Farkle a small smile that he gratefully returns. Then she turns back to Riley. "Seriously, Riles, your parents should say something to the school."

Riley agrees with them. It had crossed her mind this morning, and she's sure her parents are already thinking the same thing. She looks to Lucas, Zay, and Smackle.

Without a question asked, Smackle is nodding immediately, and firmly, a look similar to Farkle's on her face.

"They're right," she says matter-of-factly. Then, with a softer note, adds, "It's unfair for them to get away with trying to stop him from expressing himself. People don't like different and it's..."

"It's wrong," Zay finishes for her. "Auggie doesn't deserve that. Going to the school about it might not help but at least it'll make some noise, right? That would do something good, make people aware that it's unfair the way he's getting treated."

Riley's heart is ready to burst from how apparant their support for Auggie is, and just how serious they are about wanting to help. She smiles at Zay, and he smiles back, reaching forward to pat her hand on the top of her chair.

Her eyes slide to Lucas. He hasn't said anything yet.

I really need to hurry up and finish “Clash of the European Boyfriends”, I feel like I’ve been writing it for years. I feel like I’ve summarised it before, but I’ll give another quick one just in case -- There’s a dinner party being hosted at the Salvatore household, set up by Stefan, Elijah, and Lexi. It was more a way of forcing Damon, Enzo, Klaus, and Stefan to get along, but also a good way to get Hope more familiar with the house for the longterm future. Some awkwardness and tension ensures because you just can’t have those four in a house together and not expect something to go wrong. I would love to be able to give a snippet for this but I’ve been rewriting it so much that I can’t decide on anything that might actually make it into the finished fic, so I’m going to skip this one if that’s okay. Hopefully I’ll actually decide where it’s going and what I’m doing with it soon.

What do you think of Haley/Elijah pairing? They made them the main romantic pairing of the show once they killed off klamille but they never seemed to measure up. They had her go in his mind to save him but not being the one to actually reach him, it was Hope that did when she screamed "Mommy". She was afraid of him for a while after that.

Then he had his part in her death. He had already felt that profound connection with her again after she visited him in Monosque but still didn't do anything to stop her death. Didn't feel very 'Epic love' the show tried to make it out to be.

Unpopular opinion but I gotta admit when DG breaks down crying after Elijah remembers, I felt nothing. I felt more from his siblings crying than I did him. No offense to DG. I think he's a great actor but something was just off in that scene for me.

Your feelings are fair. I'm very in the middle on haylijah. I think they had good moments and lots of potential, but they also suffered from the writers constantly pulling back. You had writers like Carina Mackenzie who so obviously self inserted into Hayley, and had a huge crush on Jackson. So she'd write episodes where Hayley suddenly loved Jackson and was done with Elijah, and then the real writers would come in and say no that's not true. It gave me whiplash.

I think the prim and proper noble brother desperate to unite his family and save his brother's soul accidentally falling in love with the orphaned werewolf girl pregnant with his child is good material. Because Elijah sacrifices so much of himself for Klaus, and he falls for someone he shouldn't be with, and if he lets himself love her then he's finally allowing himself to be selfish for a change and not put Klaus first. But it's also tapping into Klaus' insecurities about being a father, which could then hinder his "redemption". It's good drama. But the writers just kind of...well, CW. They had to throw Jackson in there for some reason and then spend wayyyy too much time on their marriage. Also, Julie Plec decided to be a fake feminist somewhere in the middle of haylijah and that's why they started to sabotage them. Because apparently it's not feminist for them to be together.

Elijah breaking down after Hayley's death did make me feel something. Maybe it's because everyone and everything in that season felt hollow and dead, and it was nice to see an actor trying. I can see how it wouldn't do anything for you, though. I just watched it as an isolated scene.

I have to say this: I do feel sympathy for people who enjoyed haylijah, because the stuff they did to them at the end was so vicious and for no good reason. It's one thing to promise a slow dance and not show it because they want the ending to be ambiguous, but it's an entirely different thing for him to aid in her murder. That's just spiteful. I know it's supposed to be tragic (which I can appreciate to a certain degree), but there was no feel good follow-up that would have made this sting less. If they showed the dance, then yeah maybe. But without the reunion, and their last moment just being her murder, it's messed up.

do tell us about the confusing end of ha/ylijah

Ok I’m just gonna preface this that I ship Haylijah. I also like Jayley. And I adore Hayley, and of course, Elijah. This isn’t a comparison of these ships, or criticism of the characters. Over all, it’s a comment on the writing.

Also this got super long. I’m so sorry. for anyone who reads this, thank you for your patience.

I’m just gonna jump into when things, to me, get hinky. So, S4, Elijah was captured by the Hollow, stabbed, dying, got his mind shattered and in the pendant. Hayley goes in to find his subconscious, which is hiding deep in his memories. Elijah is hiding in a particularly violent memory, a red door memory, and he’s IN that memory. He doesn’t recognize Hayley, so he attacks her. Hope goes into Elijah’s mind, and and cries out and wakes elijah up. He’s instantly regretful, and everything. Hayley, naturally, is shaken. Doesn’t want to talk to him. This is understandable. She just went through something terrifying, she needs time to process it.

But this is where things, to be, start getting incredibly weird to me. Hayley, after fighting the hollow and her showing Hayley an image of Jackson, later has this speech.

HAYLEY: Jack... I didn't get to say this before, so I need to say it now. You are who I should have wanted. You were right. But I could never manage to give up Elijah. I couldn't walk away. I met him at a time in my life when I was scared, alone. I know that's messed up. I guess I never really... saw what love was supposed to look like. But I don't want that for Hope. I wish she knew you. I wish a lot of things. As for Elijah, I know what he is. I guess I always knew. But I loved him despite it, or maybe because of it. Truth is, I'm a monster, too. We've all done terrible things, Jack. Except for Hope. She's innocent, pure. And I want to make sure she stays that way. I know what I have to do. I just have to be brave enough to do it.

WHICH CONFUSES ME FOR MULTIPLE REASONS:

Hayley married Jackson, and she loved Jackson, and she was utterly devastated by his death. They’re making it out like she left Jackson for Elijah when that simply is not true.

I don’t understand what…. How is leaving Elijah supposed to be good for Hope? What is with this implication that Elijah is bad for Hope.

Before this, Elijah and Hayley were positively ADORABLE. Their scenes at the safehouse early in the season, then Elijah telling Hayley he wanted to start a life with her, and after Elijah suggested that Davina kill him instead of Klaus, Hayley telling him that she needs him and him being surprised.

But okay, I just want to comment on this part too.

 I met him at a time in my life when I was scared, alone. I know that's messed up. I guess I never really... saw what love was supposed to look like. 

This is either implying that Hayley never really loved Elijah (because he definitely loved her) but thought she should, or implied that it’s a toxic relationship? Because it actually is one of the least toxic relationship on TO lol. But it also sounds like… Hayley was with Elijah because she needed him, and now that she doesn’t need him….. Yeah, it’s uh, not a good look. I really don’t know what the writers were trying to do here.

And like, I’m not saying she shouldn’t be upset about what happened, not at all. But it’s all just so???? Confusing.

Then in the next episode, Hayley says this to Rebekah.

HAYLEY: I saw things, Rebekah, in his mind. Not just memories. I saw... his impulse, his natural instincts, and... I think maybe that's who he really is at his core. REBEKAH: And that scared you? You're afraid that Hope will see that side of him? HAYLEY: I worry that she'll see that I'm... okay with it. What am I teaching her if I allow her to grow up in a place where we... trap our enemies in dungeons and retaliate against threats by killing whole neighborhoods? I... I don't want her learning to become that.

Which would be understandable, if she… wasn’t also a murderer? And, more importantly, if KLAUS WASN’T STILL GOING TO BE IN THE PICTURE??? So Elijah is too dangerous, too much of a monster, to be with Hayley because she doesn’t want Hope exposed to that, but Klaus is totally fine to raise his daughter? (as this is before they know about the ritual that they will have to be separated by.) If Hayley truly didn’t want Hope growing up around that, then she shouldn’t have saved the Mikaelsons in s4e1 and then rescue Klaus, but the whole point of that was she wanted hope to have her family. So.... which is it?

IT’S SO FREAKING CONFUSING

ELIJAH: Let me help you. HAYLEY: Don't touch me. ELIJAH: I am on your side. HAYLEY: I should never have brought her back here.

ALSO THIS IS ?????? ‘brought her back here’ uhm, they brought hope there bc she was sick/dying??? If they hadn’t, she’d be dead? It’s just like the writers totally forgot things from THE SAME SEASON

But yeah okay, continuing on. There’s a lot of…. Interactions between hayley and elijah that i genuinely don’t understand. Elijah is CLEARLY going through something. He’s severely traumatised from dying PAINFULLY AND SLOWLY and also HIS MIND SHATTERING. He’s depressed, suffering, and like, so many things he says are clear indicators of this.

Okay so fast forward to S5, which i’m skipping past all the amnesiac elijah stuff cos that’s not really Elijah. Elijah is talking to Declan, Hayley’s boyfriend, after her death.

DECLAN: Ah, who am I kidding? She probably would have turned me down. I was batting way out of my league, and... and she had a hell of a past. ELIJAH: What do you mean? DECLAN: Ah, an ex. He really did a number on her. I could tell she still held a candle for the guy. But when you... you find a woman that... Her smile could end wars, and... she has a heart as big as Ireland... you'd have to be a fool to let her go. You all right? ELIJAH: A smile to end a war. So now you see her face everywhere you go, you hear her voice in your dreams, and you feel the lingering ghost of her touch. You feel responsible. Perhaps if you had known more, you could have done... something. DECLAN: You're him, aren't you? The one that broke her heart.

and

DECLAN: So you're here to mine my pain for your absolution? Do you have any understanding of the damage you caused her? 

SO AGAIN I’M LIKE HUH??? HAYLEY was the one who chose to end things between them? Hayley was the one who made the ‘i need to be strong enough to end it’ speech? The one who was making out like Hope being around Elijah would be a bad thing? They’re making Elijah out to have just... left her? They’re making out like Elijah was a ‘bad guy’ in the relationship, that it’s his fault? He caused her damage?

Hayley’s dead, and in the afterlife with Jackson too. So like, Haylijah aren’t even together in death. Which I’m okay with, it’s just a bit odd from a writing perspective, especially with Hayley’s “if we met in another life” line or w/e it was to amnesiac elijah.

This is why I say the ending of Haylijah was confusing. They built it up all through s1-3, and most of s4 and then let it nose dive into something just,,,, so freaking confusing. And incredibly poorly written.

What’s your favourite Hayley moments?

Excellent question! Hayley grew on me a lot as I rewatched the series—especially after what happened in season 5 :( But there’s a lot of noteworthy moments for her!

The first one that stands out to me is in the pilot—when Elijah gives her a crash course on the Mikaelson Family Tragedy, especially how Mikael forced Elijah to bind Klaus. And Hayley responds very eloquently,

It’s a little moment, but it gives us a very clear picture of the role Hayley’s going to play in this show. In a supernatural soap opera full of thousand-year-old creatures who talk and act like Shakespeare rejects, Hayley is...us. The audience surrogate in a lot of ways. She’s the one who grounds them with her modern perspective. Instead of treating the Mikaelsons as ancient, unknowable creatures who ought to be feared, she just treats them like people. Obnoxious, overdramatic, insufferable people she must tolerate. Grow fond of. Come to love. Consider family.

Then there’s her little arc in 1x02, with the wolfsbane. I’m just really glad they included it as part of the story. Obviously TO is Klaus’s story—the first episode was centered around his decision to accept the baby. But Hope is Hayley’s baby too, and Hayley’s decision to want her is just as important.

There’s a line she says in 1x17 (I think) after the wolves are freed from their curse, and Jackson is pimping out the perks of the bayou. Hayley responds rather cheekily “then what? We’re gonna play horseshoes?” I’m not even sure why, maybe because it’s what I was thinking too, but I enjoy that line so much. It’s very Hayley.

Her fight with Mikael in 1x20 is just… *chef’s kiss* so good. “My daughter has an advantage Klaus never had. She will never, ever know you.”

1x22, the episode of Mama Wolf. Just, all of it. Her face when she gets to hold her baby for the first time. Her absolute vengeance when she confronts Genevieve. The way she struggles not to break down when they decide what to do with Hope. How she looks away when Elijah pricks Hope’s finger. The deleted scene when she confesses to Elijah she doesn’t know who she is, after her rebirth.

In the same vein, her grief in 2x01. Her heartbreaking expression when she finds the burnt baby doll in the bayou. Her breakdown in the nursery after she kills Francesca. She’s been through so much and she can’t be strong anymore. (It’s not that I like to see Hayley sad; I like when she breaks the tough grrl facade and we see more of the real her. It happens more and more as the show goes on, and my love for her grows and grows.)

Her response to Elijah in 2x03(?): “Where is Niklaus?” “I’ll just check his calendar…wait, no, not his wife.” It gets a chuckle out of me every time.

Not a specific moment, but Hayley working with Marcel a lot in early season 2! It brings me joy. Two outcasts caught up in the circle of Mikaelson Family Drama. How can they not bond?

All of 2x09, but especially the moment she’s reunited with her daughter. The car pulls up, and before it’s even fully stopped Hayley is out, barreling toward the house to see her little girl. My heart.

In 2x12, her confrontation with Klaus (the one before he breaks her neck). She unloads on him, rightfully calling out his paranoia, his prejudice. I don’t agree with everything they made Hayley do in season 2, but I’m with her up to this point. And this is such a good acting moment from Phoebe, too.

Protective!Hayley confronting Dahlia in 2x18. “Come closer. Let’s see how a witch with no magic does against me.” I LOVE how her voice gets so low and dangerous—it’s so wonderful and dramatic (and we can hear a bit of Phoebe’s accent!)

Her fight with Klaus in 3x02. This is the one time her tough grrl act works on me—she’s lashing out with pure, unbridled rage. She lets Klaus have it, and it’s so visceral and real and hurtful. I love angst.

Her breakdown in 3x11. She’s lost Jackson, avenged him, buried him, and now she’s finally allowing herself to mourn him. She drowns in that guilt, that anger she realizes she’s directing at herself, for loving Jackson and putting a target on his back. It’s not explicitly stated, but I see this as a parallel to season 1, her reaction to Elijah and Celeste. She couldn’t understand how Elijah could blame himself for her death, how he could still carry a torch for her after two hundred years. Now she can. Her husband died because he loved her, a Mikaelson, and loving any of them is a death sentence.

Her camaraderie with Cami in 3x18. (This is how the season should have ended! With them working side by side!) It’s cute—she’s supportive of Cami and sympathizes with her fears, but also makes it clear that she needs Cami unafraid and in fighting shape. I wish we’d seen more of this dynamic from them!

Can I get through a list of Hayley moments without mentioning her wolf? Gosh, her wolf-out in 4x01 does things to me. As does her bloodsoaked, vengeful shout when she turns back “you want more? Well come on!” What are they on about, she’s not a Mikaelson. That’s literally a Klaus line.

(I honestly try not to dwell on seasons 4 and 5 too much, so this is literally as far as I can think lol)

I love Hayley a lot—of course I’m bitter they did her so dirty in the end. In this house we love and appreciate Mama Wolf, and we fix her ending in fanfic.

Before the year ends, just one last longgggg post

The best thing that happened this year, as regards a tv drama, was The Originals. I’d watched the few episodes of it last year, but couldn’t continue ‘cos I had other work, but this year I finally finished the whole series. And I’m still pretty much in the hold of that drama. 

I haven’t seen Vampire Diaries so I had no idea what to expect. My friend just told me its about Vampires, Werewolves and Witches, and it doesn’t have much sappy romance (unlike VD), so I should give it a try. I gave it a try, I went in without any expectations, and came out with so much more.

If I have to be objective, I’m sure there are many other shows in the supernatural genre which are better than this one. But I just absolutely loved The Originals. It might be because I’m from the old school of cinema and television, but I love drama. And this series delivered and how. 

I just absolutely loved the take on sibling relationship. This was the most realistic depiction of siblings for me. Real siblings do fight, threaten to kill each other every day, and still cannot live without each other (that is me and my brother in short). As dysfunctional and often cruel as the Mikaelson family was, I was just so enamored by them, an eternity of living together, hating each other and yet standing by each other, “Always and Forever” 

The characters were well-written (except when Elijah lost his nobility in the end of Season 3, what happened Julia Plec?) I guess Klaus Mikaelson is the most compelling male character I’ve ever come across, the man would pull any shit, but I’d still watch like I’m hypnotized. And my, did JoMo play it to perfection!

I love all the female characters in the show. They all had their personal motivations which propelled them, but none of them were devoid of passion. I guess my favs would be Hayley, Rabekkah and Davina. I just loved how they weren’t afraid to be alone against the world, gave Klaus a hard time, loved immensely, but did not let that love be a weakness. 

Also, Klayley! For someone who easily gets upset if her ship isn’t given enough screenspace or due attention, I guess this is the first time, my ship isn’t even canon, but it doesn’t make any difference to me. I’m actually glad that Hayley married Jackson, and Klaus dated Cami, because Jackson and Cami were lovable characters and were invaluable for Hayley and Klaus’ character development. Also, I’m glad that Hayley and Jackson were united in afterlife, because no one loved Hayley more than Jackson. But anyways, coming back, Klayley not being canon never bothered me, because they got the organic writing, the scenes, the character development, be it individually or together, which the best of popular ships don’t get. I guess, this is one of those few ships, where I’m kinda satisfied with what I got, ‘cos for me their equation, went beyond just plain romance, it transcended romantic love imo. 

So, yeah I’m glad that I finished this series. There was so much here, politics, intrigue, action, thrill, sibling equations, romance, familial bonds, I just loved it all (except season 5, not a fav, that one).

Elijah paced back and forth in the foyer. To an outsider it would have looked like the man had plenty on his mind and if one said anything, it may go unnoticed to the original. Not much had changed in the many years since Elizabeth had last seen Elijah. He may have changed with the times but she had been glad to see that his old habits had not changed. She hadn't expected them to. He had always been the noble brother. If that had changed at all, she would have wonder why and what was it that caused him to do so.

"What is it that you two are doing here?" Elijah finally asked as he stopped pacing.

"I heard what the Strix were up to." Elizabeth said with concern in her voice. "I've been keeping up with the gossip of the vampire world. And once I caught word of the sire line wars, and I kept tabs on it for sometime."

"Your point, Elizabeth?"

"When I heard of the plan had been put into motion of breaking the sire lines, I quickly made my way towards New Orleans. We had been close by once Malakai had felt the sire line break. I half expected to feel it myself, but I left him and rushed to the Davilla estate."

"Where you decided it was best to snap the neck of hybrid and rip out Aya's heart." There wasn't any anger in his voice. Elizabeth had expected there to be.

"You were going to kill her anyways." She shrugged with a small smile on her face. "As for Hayley, she would have done it herself, but I felt like I would have had more pleasure in doing so."

A chuckle passed Elijah's lips. "You haven't changed one bit." That had brought a full smile to Elizabeth's lips. "I half expected you to be elsewhere in the world than checking in on your sire."

"How can I not?" She asked tilting her head to the side slightly. "How can I not check in on someone who was my only real father figure?"

"Given the circumstances, I thought you would be on the opposing side."

Elizabeth chuckled. "The circumstances gave me a third chance at living, Elijah. Either way it doesn't change the fact that I still care about your well being."

It had caused Elijah to smile. For as much as he had indeed forgotten about Elizabeth, it was in this moment that a few memories came to mind of the young girl he had saved not once, but twice. The silence that followed had been comfortable enough for the two. While Elizabeth had many things she had wished to ask Elijah, but she knew now wasn't exactly the best time. She knew he had much on his own mind about his brother and the enemies that would follow. And just before she could bring up anything on Niklaus, the man himself stormed down the stairs.

"Now that I have rested, I think it is time we see to it that the rest of the white oak is obliterated from existence." He said coming to a stop by Elijah.

"How do you suppose we do that?" Elizabeth asked with a tad bit more enthusiasm than needed. It caused a raised eyebrow from both of the brothers. "What? Getting rid of it would make things a whole lot better wouldn't it?" She asked with a small smile.

"Remind me again why the orphan is here." Klaus said causing Elizabeth's mouth to open a bit in shock.

"The orphan is here to help you." Elizabeth said crossing her arms over her chest.

"She really is here to help us, Niklaus. Unlike Malakai who seem's to have disappeared." Elijah's words caught Klaus off guard.

"You mean to tell me that the only hybrid left that I've created is alive and in New Orleans?!" Klaus's anger was directed towards Elizabeth for obvious reasons. If she hadn't been here, Malakai wouldn't have been here. And While Klaus's paranoia was beginning, Elizabeth couldnt help but laugh.

"If it wasn't for me, you wouldn't have a hybrid at all!" Elizabeth stated taking a step closer to Klaus. While others would have backed away from the Original, Elizabeth had been one of the many few to stand up to him and live. "He's not here to harm you. He's here to help as well."

"Where is he then?"Elijah asked pulling Elizabeth away from Klaus. It was an old instinct of his, Elizabeth noticed.

"Probably out drinking with the rest of the vampires from his sire line." Elizabeth shrugged. "I really do not wish to know what Kai has gotten himself into. Now that you know he is here and is staying. What is that you want to get done about destroying the rest of the white oak?"

"There is only so many places it can be. Aya and Aurora were the only ones that knew about it. My guess is that the rest of it is still at their properties. I will take the liberty of dealing with Aurora's hunting grounds. Elijah, take the orphan and see about Aya's property. I want the place thoroughly searched. Destroy it if you have to."

"Ransack Aya's?" A grin played on Elizabeth's face. "With pleasure."

Elizabeth had just returned to the compound several hours later. She had been successful in doing just as Klaus had said. Nothing in Aya's home was left unturned. While Elijah seemed to have a difficult time watching Elizabeth do so. He hadn't stopped her or even commented on the destruction she had created. The whole time Elizabeth had a grin on her face as she knocked over expensive antiques and ripped apart the woman's prized possessions. And if Elizabeth could do it over again, she probably would have taken her time and enjoyed it a little bit longer.

Just as she was about to head to the room Elijah had offered her, Hayley came down stairs. A growl passed Hayley's lips and Elizabeth could clearly see the hybrid's eyes begin to change. "I wouldn't try it." Elizabeth said as she placed her hands on her hip. "I am much older than you darling, and I'd just end up snapping your neck out of irritation."

"Why was it that you snapped my neck?" There was still a growl in Hayley's words and Elizabeth couldnt help but smirk.

"If I had not stopped you, you would have killed Aya." Elizabeth sat down on a decorative table. "You may hate the Strix for what they have done to your husband, but I loath Aya for many more reasons. You killing her would have taken away the pleasure of seeing that woman die at my hands." Hayley looked at Elizabeth with an eyebrow raised. Hayley wasn't sure how it was that Elizabeth knew about Jackson. She wasn't even sure she wanted to know what it was that Aya had done to her that she wanted Aya's death on her hands. "Really Hayley, if I had any intention of killing you, your heart would be thrown across the room." Elizabeth gave a small smirk.

"Why are you here?" Hayley asked with her arms crossed over her chest.

"To help Elijah and Niklaus." Elizabeth shrugged, "Mostly here for Elijah as he is my sire." That had gotten another raised eyebrow from Hayley and Elizabeth couldnt help but laugh. She knew the details of what had happened between the two of them before she had married Jackson. "Go ahead and ask the question that is going through your head, darling. It will only kill you if you don't ask."

"What do you mean?" Hayley asked. There was a faint blush on the woman's cheek at being caught with her thoughts.

"I know jealousy and a curious mind when I see one Hayley. I've been around long enough to know when someone obviously cares for another." Elizabeth shook her head and smiled. "I have no way been intimate with Elijah. He is more family than anything else." Elizabeth had seen some of the jealousy and worry in Hayley die down in that second.

While Hayley no longer felt a sense of jealousy towards Elizabeth, there was something about the woman that she couldn't quite place her finger on it. And Hayley wasn't sure if it was a good thing or bad. But Hayley knew from the moment a devilish grin played on the woman's lips that something was brewing in the vampires mind.

"What is it that you are thinking?" Hayley asked preparing herself for anything.

"Your husband was killed by members of the Strix, correct?"Elizabeth asked and Hayley nodded. "Tell me Hayley, what are your plans for revenge?"

would you analyze haylijah?

You read my mind (literally I was just thinking about this last night)!

Firstly, I’m sorry how long I took to answer, work was killing me. I also wanna say how appreciative I am that people like you are interacting with me, so thank you!

Okay, so Haylijah! What I take from them is a simple issue that the writers continue to make in to and tvd: beating a dead horse. Confession time! I genuinely liked these two in season one. They were cute, had good chemistry, a connection that wasn’t inherently toxic, and just cause they were paired didn’t mean they were tied to each other (I.e - had different storylines and stuff to do). I also liked how they took their time with it (like I said, they had stuff to do). I mean, I guess Hayley falling for the brother of her baby daddy is a bit weird of a dynamic, but it’s not like Klaus owns her just cause they slept together once. It also helped that I enjoyed both characters at the time. That’s really it, just a surprisingly unproblematic pairing. So what happened? A lot, a lot happened.

In season one, we are introduced to Jackson (who’s his own can of worms, believe me) and is immediately presented as a love interest for Hayley (love triangle oh boy!). It’s not really until season two that Hayley shows signs that she might feel things for the man, and then they have to get married. Couple that with Elijah inexplicably being distant towards Hayley for reasons I can only guess are to raise conflict and nothing else (cause seriously it made no sense). So they sleep together (I don’t know either, guess they patched things up and love each other again. You’ll notice that’s a theme) after Hayley explains that she’s marrying Jackson and they can’t be together. We skip to the wedding and they both have a heart to heart and end their relationship for good. I have to be honest, as a finale to this ship, it was perfect! It wasn’t just Hayley repeating “I’m marrying Jackson for the pack, we can’t do this anymore,” Hayley brought up her issues with Elijah. He’s the kind of guy who isn’t good at showing his feelings (to each their own), and Hayley wants more. She gave her entire heart to Elijah and got barely anything in return. Maybe she doesn’t love Jackson now, but he’s what she wants and perhaps she can learn to. Good scene, good episode, good season. This talk was expanded a bit in the finale when Gia had gone to Elijah, and just when it looks like he’s pushing another person he cares for away he goes back and kisses her (this might be me stretching but I have an overactive imagination). So what happened? It wasn’t over.

Season three had these two interacting a lot more (I mean Hayley didn’t have her own storyline at this point, so it’s unsurprising), and the writers decided to give them this lingering tension as to hang onto the pairing. Now I don’t know about y’all, but at this point in the show I had moved on. Why can’t these two just be friends, why is this still a thing? This is the nature of every scene they share (which is a lot of scenes, Hayley do you have nothing better to do? Wait, I just remembered thanks to the writers you don’t!) until Jackson dies, and suddenly things go from lingering tension to will-they-won’t-they. Now, I don’t have a problem with this trope when done well, but the problem is this is less of potential and more dunking it in the water and taking it back out over and over. These two were together, but now it’s over, wait never mind it’s not over but we can’t be together, now the obstacle keeping us apart is gone we can do this, but I have to respect his memory, wait never mind let’s do this. It’s not even exhausting, it’s just boring. This is all during season three! They finally hook up again after Elijah tells her he murdered Marcel and Hayley just doesn’t react. Who cares that the man who saved her as a baby and has done everything in his power to protect her and her daughter was killed by this man? Hayley needs to assuage Elijah’s man-pain. Then she has the audacity to demand Klaus forgive him, and when he addresses the irony she just ignores him. This is the moment it got through my head that Hayley was no longer a character, and was just a puppet for the writers, but tbh it happened way earlier than that. The season ends with the fate of the Mikaelson’s falling on Hayley. Does this mean Hayley gets her own storyline again in season four? You see where I’m getting with this.

We get the first episode’s A plot starring Hayley exclusively as she fights to save them, and it was actually pretty fun, especially when she went into wolf form to tear apart some vampires. Unfortunately it doesn’t last long as she reunites with Elijah immediately. Okay, so at this point Elijah is dead to me and Hayley has ceased to be a real character. Outcome, they’re together now and I couldn’t care less. I could say it’s infuriating that Hayley doesn’t care that Elijah contemplated killing a bunch of children no older than Hope or actually killed four innocent teenagers for the harvest ritual (she does bring them up with him, but it’s always in a scolding manner that doesn’t affect how she feels about him), but what he does to her in the necklace is what makes her believe he’s not safe to be around Hope. Okay. Not much outside of this, they end things again shortly after he returns from the dead (another cliche that y’all keep doing!) The finale has them separated by the hollow and Elijah’s amnesia. So how are they gonna bring this back for season five? It’s much worse than that.

So season five skips to seven years later, and they both appear to have moved on with respective partners. Declan is boring (more of a Matt clone than people keep insisting Cami was) and Antoinette is interesting but also problematic, not that either of these people matter. They’re only plot devices (another female character who doesn’t get to be a character? Nice one guys!) to put a wrench in Haylijah despite Elijah’s amnesia already doing the job just fine. Surprisingly their relationship isn’t relevant at all for a good few episodes (mostly due to Hayley being missing. And then, he kills her. You know what I’m talking about. X character being responsible for loved ones death while they don’t remember said loved one cliche. Remember when this ship wasn’t inherently toxic? Tbh it hasn’t been harmless in a while. So we get stoic Elijah, and the others trying so desperately to make him and to the extension me believe that him and Hayley were this unbreakable love story for the ages, when in reality their relationship was a hot-and-cold nightmare. Take notes, if you’re gonna do a slow burn, don’t get them together and break them up over and over again unless you’re planning to spice up the relationship in some way every time. Because I lost interest so early, and I don’t think I’m the only one. So once Elijah gets his memory back his story arc is over for the season and he spends the remainder moping around (we could have gotten an entire story between him and Hope instead of one episode and a scene in another). He almost doesn’t go to his own sister’s wedding cause he’s man-paining too hard. Finally, he decides last minute to undercut Klaus’ self sacrificing so they could die together (cause who needs actual growth between these two?). It is speculated that Elijah reunites with Hayley in the afterlife and they live happily ever after (I say speculated because we didn’t get to see their afterlife even though we saw Hayley and Josh’s?).

So what is there to learn from this? Elijah was an interesting character who’s arc inverted Klaus in a clever kind of way, but would not stop hanging on Hayley. And Hayley herself is yet another female in this show who’s agency and character is stripped away to service the man. The main problem with this couple is how repetitive and predictable their story became. Unlike kolvina their beginning had promise, but they never grew from there, they only shrank.
