the statewide evacuation is underway and it goes terribly wrong terribly fast. daphne and glenn undergo an impromptu rescue mission and soon their group of two becomes a group of 5.

chapter three ; the group —

it's been a month since the complete collapse of civilization. when daphne and glenn realize this is their new way of life, they begin to strategize the best ways of survival. along with the new members of the group, they fall into a steady routine, until a one-sided fight breaks out and everything is knocked out of order.

chapter four ; the idiot in the tank —

a supply run goes wrong and daphne finds herself reunited with an old acquaintance. old feelings unwillingly resurface but she forgets one big glaring problem back at camp.

chapter five ; maneater --

glenn and rick try out a new technique in order to survive and reunite with the rest of the group. back at camp, daphne and shane reach an understanding.

chapter six ; love rectangle —

rick confides in daphne for reasons unknown to her. as she offers him counsel, daphne is also grappling with conflicting feelings of her own.

chapter seven ; chef boyardee —

the plan goes wrong. daphne and glenn find themselves in a precarious situation but at least they have each other, right?

Important Character Info:

Daphne Ayala. She's a 23-year-old Latina woman who's working towards becoming a detective (hopefully for the FBI or some higher agency one day). As part of her training, she has to complete a few years of service in whatever local police department has an opening. You can see where this is going right? Her best friend is Glenn Rhee, with whom she shares an apartment with, and they're practically attached at the hip.

Rick Grimes has been aged down a bit though his actual age was never mentioned in the show. I imagine he's around 29, nearing 30 at the beginning of season 1. That would make Carl 9 years old (rather than 12 as he was in the show).

20: getting paired up at a dance class

You were running late.

So fucking late.

And you knew that Glenne was a perfectionist and she would have your head if you were late again-

But it wasn't your fault. Solely at least.

Everything was going wrong today. From getting your period this morning and staining your favourite sheets to the bus breaking down on the way down here, forcing you to walk the last 3 blocks in the pouring rain.

The universe seemed to hate you today.

Finally, though, you sigh as you push open the heavy door to the dance hall.

"I'm so sorry Glenne, I swear I got ready half an hour early and got on the early bus to come on time and oh my fucking god you won't believe what happened today-"

You are interrupted by a cough. And so you turn around slowly, prepared for the embarrassment you are going to have to endure, only to find that Glenne wasn't alone this time.

No, she was accompanied by Jeff and another man, but you just couldn't place a finger on who he was. You'd definitely seen him before because he looked familiar but-

" 'm Harry" is the first thing he says, before sticking his hand out for a handshake.

You take it, telling him your own name before he's cutting you off again.

"Oh my god your hands are freezing! Here I have an extra sweatshirt somewhere"

And he's running off, to the other side of the room where you find three gym bags placed on the floor. You turn quickly to Glenne, eyes wide and questioning before she mouths, 'Jeff's friend'

You nod in understanding and watch him shuffle through his cream crocheted tote bag, a sparkly 'HS' twinkling in the dance studio's light. A moment later, his hands pop out with a black hoodie, embroidered with 'Treat People With Kindness' that he hands to you hastily, urging you behind the room partition to change.

"This is Y/N?" you hear his voice again, and you are sure you've heard that british accent before, you just can't place your finger on it-

"Why? Interested?" you hear Glenne say in a teasing voice and you can just hear that stupid little smirk of hers-

"Alright enough, I can hear you, it's not like I'm actually in a different room" you say, quickly pulling the sweatshirt over your head but not before you hear some low murmurs. "Now let's get this over with" you sigh, while walking to the group. You turn to Harry, "Cute sweatshirt, thanks". He nods with a smile,

"Actually it's from-"

"Ah, you are all here...finally" the dance instructor comes in the room, and you narrow your eyes at her dig.

"I was like ten minutes late" you try to defend.

"Try 25" Glenne remarks while stretching, and you turn to Jeff who usually supports you, only to find him looking away from you, not wanting to get involved.

"Alright, let's start. Now, you two are the maid of honour and best man I presume?" you and Harry nod. "Now traditionally, you share a dance, usually a waltz once the guests are welcomed to the dance floor. We'll start first with leader's steps and see if that fits you" you both nod again. "Jeff and Glenne, feel free to do the same"

Your eyes fleet over at Harry for a moment, only to find him already looking at you. When you catch him he diverts his eyes quickly and you can't help the chuckle that leaves you.

"Something funny, Y/N?" the dance instructor chastises you, and just like you are a schoolgirl again you answer instinctively,

"No miss", making you and the rest of the group erupt in giggles. Harry is trying to hold it back, but you see the huge smile that takes over his face.

"Now, this dance is easy. It's exactly as it sounds, one leads while the other follows. If you are going for tradition, which I believe you are, it's usually the man that leads so, Harry, Jeff, turn to your partners"

Jeff turns to Glenne while Harry turns to you, putting his right hand out. He wiggles his brows and with a curious smile, you place your hand in his. He softly clutches it, before raising it and placing his other hand on your waist. You hear the dance teacher shuffling to put on the music and turn to Harry with a smile.

"Hey, so I've never waltzed before" you say, pursing your lips in a smile while he looks at you with a smile. "So if I accidentally step on both your feet at the same time, know that I'm sincerely sorry."

"I'll keep that in mind" he replies, giggling as he takes a step back. You follow reluctantly, taking a small step so you don't step on him. He nods, seemingly approving of your move and continues on.

You fall into a steady rhythm, one step forward, two steps right, one step left and one backward. It seems easy, you think to yourself and start making your steps bigger, your movement more confident.

That is of course, until you manage to step on both of his feet at the same time-

"Fuck!" you hear, a scream which breaks the beautiful silence that had encompassed the room, with you holding Harry's gaze, dancing like you had been doing it for years.

Harry runs for the small bench on the side of the room and a string of apologies spew out of your mouth. Jeff and Glenne look over, and you know, Glenne is going to kill you right about now-

"Shit! I'm so sorry Harry, oh fuck! Sorry!" you move over to him, who although clearly hurt, tried his smallest of smiles while reassuring you that it was fine, really, and it didn't actually hurt that much.

"I think that this is enough for today" you hear Glenne say through an annoyed huff, and you know, you know, you'll hear it over the phone tonight. You bite your lip anxiously, sliding next to Harry on the small wooden bench and placing a hand on his shoulder.

"Really, Harry, I'm so so sorry" you keep repeating and a small giggle floats through your ears. You're confused, until you turn to see Harry with a cute bunny smile, his eyes crinkling as he takes your apologies in. You aren't sure if the pain is making him delirious yet it couldn't have possibly hurt that much, right?

"Actually, you know what?" He speaks up, looking at you. You shrug, confused by the sudden shift in his mood. Your eyebrows knit in worry, and you look at him with glossed over eyes, hoping you didn't fuck this up.

"I don't think I can forgive you". Your eyes wide. His smile is infectious as he looks at you, and you allow yourself to calm down, telling yourself that that he's just joking-

"That is, unless you join me for dinner tonight?"

Ramble about video games~

Also um spoilers for Chrono Trigger…game came out in 1995 but just in case-

Random but I was thinking about my favorite video game of all time today.

Who else played Chrono Trigger? I was a kid…and I remember watching a video where someone talked about a boss from the game and somehow that was enough for me to go and find it for myself and play it-

Love at FIRST SIGHT I’m TELLING YOU-

I don’t remember my exact age but something I did when I was little was name everything after myself haha, but I remember using the default names for this game. Random and unimportant but I thought it was funny lol. I had this How To Train Your Dragon game on my DS and all my dragons just. Had my name or the name of a random color because those were the only things I could spell haha, I was so young-

But yeah I used the default names for Chrono Trigger, though now every time I replay I tend to name Frog ‘Glenn’ and when I’m feeling extra angsty I’ll name Magus ‘Janus’ haha

BUT SERIOUSLY that game is so good the amount of DETAIL and EFFORT put into every little part of it??

I used to know like EVERY single secret and stuff haha but anyways-

My party was always Frog, Ayla, and Magus and I remember that quest where you upgrade the Masamune. Like the little details were INSANE- if you had Magus on your party he would look away when the Masamune upgraded-like I know it’s just a little thing but oh my gosh I was OBSESSED??

And the music was SO good. SO GOOD. So many of the songs are a PART of me now, and Magus Confronted/Battle with Magus?? I will STILL stand by that as one of the greatest boss themes ever made-also World Revolution and Last Battle but yeah

And also you could have Magus fight and kill his own horrible mother, and they had SPECIAL DIALOGUE WITH EACH OTHER?? I was ALL about that-actually if I remember correctly he has a monologue and his theme starts playing during it too-

And going to that little village…if you’re playing as Magus his cat will recognize you and follow you??? Yeah. That was cool.

I do talk about Magus a lot haha…and he was the one I wrote the most fanfiction for too, I think I have five different note tabs of Magus fanfiction haha…I WANTED him haha I ADMIT IT…but my favorite character is still Glenn. Magus is a VERY close second but…Glenn.

And I love how their stories are interwoven. I LOVED that scene on the cliff’s edge where you can choose revenge or mercy as Glenn.

(I restarted haha because I totally went revenge first and I killed Magus and then got sad when all that remained was his pendant…)

Honestly Glenn’s mercy dialogue?? I was INSPIRED, I was a KID and I was like how is he going to justify not taking revenge on Magus?? But then he DID and I just- :0

Also when the game wants to be funny it ACTUALLY is funny haha, Dalton getting mad when the music was wrong was so funny. Him throwing the fireball at you only for it to immediately deflect was funny. Him hitting you with “whoa look over there!” and it actually working on your entire party was FUNNY-

And Magus and his dry humor was immaculate. Have him on your party when you’re doing the Marle’s mother mission and he’ll be the first one to find the genuine, heartfelt letter from her mother and his immediate reaction is to turn to you and say, “shall we burn it?” What is WRONG with him I love him so much-

That one ending where you can get Glenn and the Queen together?? Thusly turning Marle part frog?? That is GENIUS and HILARIOUS-the fact that they even let you do that…

Ozzie being all haha you can’t beat me and making himself impervious to damage only for you to just…flip a lever and defeat him immediately. And also the whole sequence of going through Ozzie’s castle was great haha. You can walk into an obvious trap and he’ll laugh at you and fade into the shadows?? That was so funny.

That one boss fight that was afraid of heights and thusly wouldn’t attack you because you were high up-

Also there is so much to say about how complicated the characters were despite being a video game that came out in 1995-

Specifically referring to Glenn and Magus though I swear THOSE TWO were the main characters to me haha.

Glenn’s my favorite and his story is GREAT but MAGUS?

(Also I still remember those scenes where you find the monsters worshiping the Magus statues they were so ominous…)

He’s so complicated I love it. He’s mean he’s grouchy he threatens you all the time he’s prideful on the surface but he plays the part of the villain even though his goal is to LITERALLY save the world. That scene leading up to the confrontation?? With the fire?? Epic. YEAH he’s a bad mean cruel man but…his main goal is to save the ONE person who had ever showed him true genuine kindness. Him and Schala make me emotional-he just wants to save and protect his big sister-

Also I feel like I should mention it haha I DID play Chrono Cross too, purely because I wanted to see how it connected to Chrono Trigger and. Yeah it’s not a bad game by any means but it just wasn’t for me. I thought a lot of the character designs were pretty cool and I thought the story was interesting enough. But yeah it was not Chrono Trigger. I think I got about halfway through it before I just. Went back to replaying Chrono Trigger-

Also I know I’m not the only one-Magus’s sprites were lowkey kinda hot haha. Him adjusting his glove. His cool arm motions when he casts a spell. The way his hair flows when you run as him. His COOL attack animations-especially the critical hits. I’m about it. And then you open the menu to mess with your equipment and he just looks…so scary haha. I still love him I WOULD marry him and I say that CONFIDENTLY haha. It’s like still having feelings for your childhood love~

And okay the criticisms about Chrono Trigger are typically pretty fair but that doesn’t make it a bad video game at all.

In my opinion…10/10.

Also side note Earthbound is really really really good too also one of my favorites~ AND THE REVITALIZER?? FROM CHRONO TRIGGER?? MAKES AN APPEARANCE IN EARTHBOUND??? THANK YOU.

But yeah I love Chrono Trigger. I remember I even played a fan game that gave more of a backstory to Magus making himself look like a Prophet to Queen Zeal. Cool.

Thinking about my Magus x reader fanfics now. I have in my notes something about a fic I wanted to write where Magus lost his lover to Lavos, or the flow of time, because I’m just angsty that way. Wonder why I never did it.

Other stuff included headcanons about his physical appearance and stuff. I had things like he has “sharp nails” and such.

Quote random person in Antiquity: “The prophet’s aura is clouded with hatred and sorrow. If he does not free himself of those emotions, he’ll destroy himself and those he loves along with him.” And I thought about that WAY too much-like EXCUSE ME??

Also I love the way Magus talks. “Unimaginable is the power of Lavos! Before him, all are as leaves cast to the bitter black winds that howl about Death’s black wings.” Yeah SAY It KING.

Anyways I’m just sayin it’s not weird to have a crush on Magus you can tell me I won’t judge.

And of course I have a bit about reader calling him “Janus” instead of Magus I thought I was on to something haha.

Also I JUST remembered him being all, “oh kiss any princesses lately?” when he encountered Glenn. That was FUNNY.

Anyways I meant for this to be more of a Chrono Trigger appreciation post and not so much a Magus appreciation post but um yeah that’s very in-character for me to get a little off focus.

I think I’ve literally only found a single Magus x reader fic online hmm maybe I’ll change that…

Okay so, let’s talk about it.

Ingrid is probably a closested queer woman. Do I know exactly what she is? No lol. But, what I do know is she definitely isn’t straight.

Let’s look at her background to begin with.

After Glenn died being a silly knight, Ingrid’s entire life was dictated by marrying a man. Her family would die out if she didn’t marry a man. Her crest mandated she married a man. Her people would suffer unless she married a man. Her father literally gave her extra food to fatten her up compared to her siblings, all so she could marry a man.

You see the issue?

Now let’s pivot to Mercedes. I could bring up the Dorothea paralogue but everyone knows about that one, so that’s for latter.

Mercedes, the bisexual member of the lions, says she wants to know a lot more about Ingrid. And Ingrid doesn’t turn her down. Ingrid also doesn’t necessarily turn down Dorothea in their paralogue. Read the script for instance.

Does that look like an outright refusal of Dorothea? I don’t think so. Then we get to their actual supports. Let’s look at the Dorothea-Ingrid B support.

Yikes. (Shout out to Dorothea for respecting consent however)

But look how fervently she shuts Dorothea down. How just immediate it is. Beforehand, Dorothea was kinda pestering her about beauty stuff.

It’s like other B supports pre timeskip.

A lot of B supports set up a conflict to be resolved post timeskip. There’s roots for a paired ending there. The one that comes to mind the most is Annie/Mercie (mostly cause their support chain is silly, just like the two units)

I say all this to say that she has two b supports that feel they could lead into a same sex paired ending. Also, can we talk about Pegasi knights for a moment?

There are a lot of gay Pegasi knights. Palla and Minerva are one of the most shipped pairs in Archanea. Chloe and Merrin as well for Elyos. Eda is said to have been “totally subservient” to Altena. Florina outright admits she loves Lyn at the end of Lyn Mode.

Ingrid is a Pegasus knight.

What does that make her? Probably gay lol. Like, she is in one of the most consistently gay classes. She has two supports that could be read as romantic. What more can I say?

TL;DR: Ingrid is probably a homosexual.

Glenn is gonna be one of those characters that messes with people’s feelings I think lol. It’s hard to not dislike him when he’s so rude or petty but then he has nice moments with Rosen that make him more likeable. Him trashing a 14 year old is…not cool, but I think he could develop into someone better.

It’s funny though because with Genesis, I found him so petty and punchable but I still love that bitch (affectionate) so much. Maybe Glenn will grow on us the same way lol?

Genesis works for me because he's overdramatic, has a huge ego, and is clearly designed to be the antagonist. He's got a bit more complexity to him than Glenn. Sure he's not the best written, but there's little traces of something kind of tragically profound beneath the surface, or the potential of something. Glenn is your basic rowdy loudmouth, so he's a lot more of the default protagonist trope, just with a few extra shades of personality here and there through his interactions with Rosen.

But yeah. He's still acting pretty aggressively to a young teenager. Even if Sephiroth is way stronger than him physically, it's a bit disconcerting. And we know that Sephiroth himself takes his "otherness" to heart so...oof.

But hey, there's still time for them to bond. I REALLY want that Sephiroth head-pat. Poor kid needs some actual positive attention.

Named his little rat friend 'nick jr' in canon and nicknames the dragon friend Morgan. The dragon goes by many names and likes picking up new ones, probably a very old dragon that Glenn ends up helping out post s1 or something. The dragon gives him a ride somewhere as a favor later when the musician is unable to fly himself. Glenn was hoping to convince it to jam out with him (since it has a cool voice). Maybe the dragon is convinced at some point haha Accessories, probably has a dragon keychain or necklace, and a few different old shirts that had dragons on them. Also fancy dragon sword hilt that has a glowing red eye (well a crystal in the eye spot). Once cosplayed as Majima from the Yakuza Like a Dragon video game series. He went to a con with Nicky as a bday gift one year and left the custom choices up to him. I don't know what character Nicky picked for himself though. Regardless, they both agreed to tell Jodie they went as something from a less violent piece of media lol. But, much like Glenn being spotted at disneyland (for the dilfs of disneyland thing)...some picture of his cosplay gets a bit of spotlight and Jodie finds out a bit later. Usual bickering occurs, ultimately, both of them are glad Nicky had a fun time

Here we goooooo:

1) My sense of humour. I think I’m pretty funny 🤣 Sometimes. My heroes are people like Conan O’ Brien and Larry David. My humour has taught me not to take life too seriously. I like to make people laugh and feel good, so there’s nothing that brings me joy than seeing a smile or sensible chuckle from anyone lol. I will accept a “LMAO” too. 😅

2) Learning to love myself from the inside out. All my anxieties and depression and accepting every quirk and flaw I HATED when I was younger, and understanding that they make me unique. Also learning to love myself when I look in the mirror every day — I’m only going to be 32 once, and in honour of one of my favourite quotes: “I will never have this version of me again, let me slow down and be with her.” ✨

I also had a health scare in late 2020, (lmao time of my life) so just valuing being alive, and taking one day at time.

3) My writing. Really proud of some of the things I’ve started writing again since getting back into fan fiction. Thanks Raphael! 😈✨I wanted to do nothing but be a writer when I was a child but for some reason I stopped when life got in the way or when I had other hobbies and pursuits. So I’m just gosh darn happy to be here, writing again, and maybe I’ll get a book idea out of this. Maybe not! Or a film idea?! Who the hell knows! Even if it’s nothing I’ll be happy — my fan fic ain’t stopping!

4) Where I’ve come from and my career. I’m originally from America and now I live in the U.K. — I’ve been here for 5 years now and fully settled which means I can apply for dual citizenship this year. (Or when I have an extra £1500 lying around lmao, in this economy?! 😐). I always wanted to travel and live abroad but could never afford it growing up. So it blows my mind I’m here now. 😂 I also work in animation — the industry that took me away from my writing dreams! Lol! When I take a moment to step away from my computer or crippling to-do list, it’s actually pretty damn cool how far I’ve come, haha.

5) My style and range of tastes in film, music, books, obsession with Japanese culture, anime, etc., etc., I’m so weird!!! And I love it! I am obsessed with old films and have been in love with various dead men and women through out my entire life, lol. Ask me about William Powell or Katharine Hepburn, I’ll talk your ears off. I also love all types of music from Japanese Jazz, City Pop, Swing Bands like Glenn Miller, to melodic techno and hip hop like A Tribe Called Quest. Also my favourite band of all time is HAIM. 🤣

Hmmm I don’t really know when I think Rick actually knew he loved Michonne. I think the other anon and the person who responded had a point about the timejump and being able to think. Even though it feels late lol Because there’s a whole difference between being in love and then actually knowing it. Like obviously he was actually in love before that. But did he really know? He probably had other ways of rationalizing why he cared about her so much. Like oh she is extra important for the whole group, we would all be lost without her because she is so capable and one of the leaders of the group. And oh I have to always make sure she’s ok because she means so much to Carl etc etc. I could see it being relatively late for him to be like, ohhhhh, so, yeah, Glenn was right, I AM a dumbass because that was NOT what that was about. I’m obviously in love with her.

Danai for example mentioned Rick ripping that throat out (we been knew!!!) but as she points out, it’s all subconsciously for Michonne. It’s only when they are in fact together that Michonne could look back at it with hindsight and be like, yep, that was it. I had been falling in love with this man this whole time and had no idea. And I do think it’s the same for Rick, although he figured it out before her. He was too busy being a leader and in survival mode when they were on the road and too erratic (and lowkey having some ptsd) when they first arrived in alexandria to be thinking that way, I think.

To be so obliviously in love is so funny to me! The two most intelligent, perceptive people on the show couldn't see what was right in front of them!!

While walking around the town, people still weary of you since you’re a new comer; You spot someone who looks familiar. He’s sweaty and looks tired out, perhaps he came back from a supply run. You stare, stunned.. taking it in making sure you’re right It's Glenn,,, your older brother who you haven't seen in years. You run up to him, tears in your eyes, and embrace him. You’re so happy to see him alive and well. Glenn is equally happy to see his little brother. You both spend the day together, catching up on old times and reminiscing about their childhood.

As you walk around the town, you talk about how different life is now compared to before the apocalypse. You realize how much you’ve grown since the apocalypse began and how much you’ve had to adapt to survive. You also talk about the friends you’ve lost and made, the dangers you’ve faced, and the sacrifices you’ve made. You feel a sense of sadness for the life you used to have and the people they used to be.

Despite the hardships you’ve faced, you both feel grateful to have each other and to have found a new home in Alexandria. you promise to stick together and make the best of your new life. As you part ways, you feels a sense of hope and optimism for the future. You know that life won't be easy, but you’re ready to face whatever challenges come your way, as long as you have your brother by your side. You feel a sense of purpose and belonging in this new community, and you know that you can build a new life here, together.

I'd planned to liveblog the Always Sunny Podcast live show and afterparty but I got too caught up in it. I do have some notes I scrawled on a sheet of paper here and some shitty phone recordings because screenrecording was making my ancient laptop lag like crazy, but I'm quite drunk and very sleepy, so I'll write them up later. If I can be bothered later. Probably not lbr.

I believe the videos are gonna be up for the next 7 days to rewatch as many times as we'd like? (Hey future self go figure that out.)

For now, quick thoughts before my brain shuts down:

Outfits: 9/10. Docking a point for Glenn buttoning up his shirt in the afterparty. Rude. Should've popped that shirt off.

Music, harmonizing and jamming: 100/10 VIBES. Shout-out to Charlie and Glenn singing Christmas tunes together and Charlie's musical improvisations on the piano with Glenn on guitar.

British royalty talk: -3/10. Rob, I do like you, but given my background, I personally do not care to hear about how the king is cool or whatever. Idc if you talk about meeting them, but sucking up to them is dumb and you need friends who aren't posh types like Humphrey (no offence to him, I'm sure he's nice).

Glenn as the grinch, being grumpy as shit, munching on cheese and crackers furiously after drinking a Rob manhattan and just giving 0 fucks about Christmas happiness: 11/10 MOOD!

Best host contest: blasphemy/10. Picking Meg is cheating and I adore Charlie, but no. Why was little Glenn on #3? Poor chap.

Gifts: 10/10 thoughtful <3

Lingerie talk: 8/10. Not long enough. Could be gayer.

RCG improv scenes: A++/10. They just got better as they did more. The stupid key chain sounds had me dying.

Serious conversations in the afterparty about S16 writing, Megan's happy experiences at Sunny vs other shows, doing RCG rewrites and the creative process disagreements between Rob and Charlie while Glenn is mostly quiet and tired or sometimes mediating: 17*/10 friendship. Also, Charlie is right that 4:3 and Standard Definition is The Sunny Look.

Chat, voting website and audience interactions: flop disaster/10. Why didn't they try to set up a normal poll instead of a page on a website that was definitely going to crash?! Anyone under 28 could've told them the chat was going to be impossible to read and full of spam without a proper moderator, but even our Meg is old and doesn't really know this stuff lol.

It was a slow start and they were clearly tired from being in the writer's room all day, but after the first half an hour, the boys slowly came back to life and stayed on for an extra 45 minutes, which I appreciated, having paid all that money to watch them.

It was like a 3x duration unedited edition of the podcast with some extra segments and I did have fun, but tbh it didn't have to be a livestream except for the few moments they actually interacted with the chat. The whole point of a livestream is the audience participation and even they seemed disappointed they couldn't hear us or really be able to read the chat?

I don't think the Moment interface is that great either. They could've just gone live on youtube or twitch and hidden the stream after a few days for the same effect and given away the leftover money from superchats and donations. They'd probably raise less money that way, but it would actually take advantage of the format. Fingers crossed their next livestream goes a lot smoother. And hire moderators please!

LONDON FASHION WEEK (fall 2022)

Diesel by Glenn Martens

Glenn Martens, the man that can do it all. From his latest collection for Y-project this Paris fashion week to his debut couture collection for Jean Paul Gaultier and now his absolutely stunning fall ready to wear show for Diesel which includes 70 looks total. Glenn Martens has proven you can be a creative director of many fashion houses and execute it beautifully and tastefully. This entire season Martens has been eating up the runways with spectacular looks. It's almost unreal. If there is anything I take from these past seasons, it’s that Glenn Martens is an overachiever and has proven you can in fact be a creative director for other houses and still pull off each show you produce without sacrificing one brena soft the other. Diesel’s latest Fall/ Winter 2022 collection is the comeback of wildly fun and creative. Miu Miu has the micro mini skirts down pace but Diese prefers the extra large belted skirt which is chef's kiss. With the return of the Y2K movement and the actual looks themselves being pop, edgy and youthful, Martens is reclaiming that momentum with Diesel once had which in turn I believe will make the brands revival even more special. The upcycled layered binding and the distressing of deadstick Diesel T-shirt jerseys into the fraying and fragmenting of the ling skirts and oversized jeans and pants was also something more within this collection. I also loved the extraterrestrial aspect of the looks. As each of the models walked down they were covers entirely in body paint that belted seamlessly into the clothes which I thought was absolutely insane but creative. It felt very refreshing to see Martens work and his vision come alive within Diesel. Even down to the set design and having massive inflatable dolls posed in provocative ways. It felt like a call back to the early 2000s and how alternative that era was, even down to the first look of the show which was a tiny denim bra top with distressed faded jeans. Martens can do denim like no other and I especially loved the different experimentations that was done with it and how it is somewhat of a full circle moment as Diesel has always been synonymous with denim. Another thing that I especially loved was the use of the Diesel logo. From the duffle bag and logo embroidered belted skirts and pants, the comeback of Diesel is going to be strong this time around. And I honestly am trying to get my hands on anything Diesel as I know it will be the IT brand this year.

Simone Rocha

Through the lore of the dark loom that always seems to filter through Simone Rocha’s clothes this latest fall 2022 collection is just that. This collection takes inspiration from an old Irish fable called the “Children of Lir”. In this tale the children become swans for nine hundred years, across three different lakes. And when they come back to human form, they pass away. This particular tale is from the pst Christianisation period that mixes elements of magic and messaging of Christian faith bringing freedom from suffering. Ultimately this tale was translated beautifully throughout the collection. From the embroidery of the two paired swans on the semi sheer tabard, the buoyancy of the skirts and the balaclavas embellished in crystals making the models almost lol like birds, this collection was a tale of tales that was cutely odd in a Simone Rocha type of way. I love that as Simone Rocha is telling this old Irish tale she is still sticking to her own tale with her biker jackets, voluminous coats, big skirts, transparent voile lace-trimmed dresses layered over other dresses and the chunky platform shoes that were spotted with many of the looks. This collection was absolutely stunning and something out of the ordinary which I loved. It was satisfyingly strange but astounding.

16 Arlington

16.Arlington I had just discovered the brand just last year and with the news back in November of the passing of one half of 16.arlington, Federica “Kikka” Cavenati, it was very sad to hear the news and I myself thought that the brand would take some time and step back during this fashion season. However, with the gracious and admirable Marco Capaldo, he has proven that he is determined to keep 16.arlignton life alive and well lit. In honor of Federica “Kikka” Cavenati, this fall 2022 collection is the momentum that kept Capaldo determined as he maintained an unbreakable bond with creativity. With 16.arlignton’s brand being known for its exuberance and dance floor ready sequins dresses I was looking forward to see what Capaldo would present for this new collection just after the passing of Cavenati. Capaldo took his morning process and turned it into something so beautiful and magical. With Swarovski crystals appearing on the edges of blazers and floor length gowns, to the subtle shimmering of skirts, the crystals almost acted as tears marked by Capaldo. I also loved how the feathers, which are familiar with the brand, were dampened to mimic the wet look effect which I think was beautifully crafted and showcased Capaldo’s emotions when creating this collection. This collection was very light toned and has hints of 90s minimalism, even down to the makeup which was very light and frost like. This collection as a whole was very beautiful and Capaldo executed it beautifully. It served as a testament to Capaldo and Cavenati’s love for fashion and their special dynamic that will forever live on. This Fall 2022 collection was an absolutely stunning tribute that couldn’t be done any other way.

Nensi Dojaka

Since late 2019 early 2020, up until now I have always been a fan of Nensi Dojaka’s work and what she creates. So when she won the LVMH prize I was not surprised. Her work has always spoken for itself, she is radiant with a hint of subtle eroticism that I think really makes her and her brand more discerning than likely others. She has a way of taking the female body and capturing it in such a beautiful, well crafted way. So when this collection appeared on the runway I was very pleased to see her extend this in such a prolific way. This collection, like her others, is the capturing of a woman's body in many different forms and shapes. From curvy to standard model types, Dojaka once again proved that she is an amazing designer. What I loved the most with this collection was her mix of her lingerie aesthetics with tailored suit pants and jackets, in addition to a combination of knits and cut out bras and array of straps. It is very reminiscent of Dojaka's distinctive look of complex stay of sheer, straps and cut out bras. It was nice to see her conquer anew. There were leather pieces which I absolutely loved. The leather skirt in look six worn by model Mila Van Der Horst, with the side cutouts and straps was absolutely gorgeous and I would love it for myself. In addition, I liked that Dojaka incorporated puffer jackets as it is something material wise that she has never presented so it was nice to see take on padded fabrics, as well as knits. I love knitwear and I especially love it when it’s made by Nensi Dojaka. I think her incorporating these new styles and materials speaks into her longevity as a brand itself. Dojaka is in demand and I think being able to show different facets of your creativity is something that simply makes me believe she will be here for a long time to come.
