The average civilian in AOAS is nothing short of brainwashed, actually. People go around believing that scythes are enlightened and can do no wrong. They live by the motto that "the Thunderhead does not make mistakes," word-for-word. Etcetera. They just go about their lives thinking no deeper than that. That is some HEAVY propaganda going on right there.
They're taught that doctrine of Scythe and State from birth, taught that the world is perfect. If they feel any uncontrollable negative emotions, it's suppressed with nanites and that's the default. Only scythes can turn their emo-nanites off (if I remember correctly). Everyone else is just a shell of compliance. Sure, they're happy, but not really. Immortality is proven to be a mere hollow shell. It's not a utopia after all.
The Thunderhead doesn't really have a say in the matter either. It was programmed/forced to serve humanity's will, and humanity's will was immortality and the illusion of perfection. In that way, the Thunderhead is actually the paragon of humanity's greatest mistake, even though it's nothing short of incredible and only wants the best for us.

My idea on who I think would make the PERFECT villain for The Incredibles 3 (not that they're ever going to make one, this could also just be a fanfic idea)
NaNoWriMo somehow dragged me kicking and screaming back into my The Incredibles hyperfixation that I haven't thought about since 2021. Drafting up a long Tumblr post in my Notes app for a few days totally counts, right? (Probably not but whatever, I am fukcing passionate about The Incredibles lore, I need to ramble)
So, the villains of The Incredibles and Incredibles 2 are both genius inventors with no superpowers who use their technology to fight the heroes. What if, for the third villain, they ditched that idea and had a villain who was a Super?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Who'd be able to fill that role? Would they invent an entirely new character who is a Super? It wouldn't be too farfetched of an idea, they did invent two new Super supervillains in Lego Incredibles, The Anchor Man and Brainfreezer, one with hydrokinesis and the other with.... functionally cryokinesis like Frozone except she controls ice cream.
But what if... the villain was an already existing Super? That already poses a problem, a majority of the Supers in the present day of The Incredibles are either dead from Syndrome's Omnidroid or an unfortunate cape snag. The only surviving Supers from the pre-Super Ban Glory days are Mr Incredible, Elastigirl and Frozone and possibly Fironic and Plasmabolt (and only because they never showed up in Syndrome's Operation KRONOS database.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fironic is pretty ambiguous if he's still alive or not, but Plasmabolt for its practically a 100% chance of survival for a few reasons:
1. Her profile says she keeps her hero and civilian lives strictly separate, so she might have had no desire to go moonlighting as a hero like Mr Incredible did
2. She's a forest park ranger. She probably lives off-grid in a shack in the woods or something.
3. The way Psycwave, Everseer and Macroburst are killed one after the other, but Plasmabolt isn't counted with them. All four of these Supers were part of a superhero team called The Phantasmics. Mirage probably used their connection to find all of them, maybe Plasmabolt fell out of contact with her old friends.
Tumblr media
Plasmabolt herself might have been a good villain candidate, having lost faith in humanity after learning how the National Supers Agency failed to keep track of her old friends, of all the Supers, and didn't notice that Syndrome was picking them all off.
Buuuuuut she's not the one this post is about. There's another that would probably be an even better villain, mostly because she has a personal tie to one of the main characters.
Tumblr media
This is one of the features on the bonus disk of The Incredibles: a full set of character files and audio interviews of most of the Supers (except for Tradewind, Vectress, Blitzerman and Fironic. They didn't get profiles.)
It's listed in alphabetical order, featuring Apogee, Blazestone, Downburst, Dyna Guy, Elastigirl, Everseer, Frozone, Gamma Jack, Gazerbeam, Hypershock, Macroburst, Meta Man, Mr Incredible, Phylange, Plasmabolt, Psycwave, Stratogale, Splashdown, Stormicide, Thunderhead and Universal Man.
The one I want to draw attention to is this one.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Side note, it’s kinda frustrating that the only way to find images of most of these guys in colour is to look for random comic strips and the freaking Lego game of all things. I’m just gonna link this fan art too because I think it rocks and is probably the best image of her https://www.tumblr.com/pazam/183219465026/no-gadgets-no-gimmicks?source=share)
THIS, is Blazestone, the blorbo- I MEAN, the Super I think would make a great villain in a hypothetical third Incredibles movie. Or a Frozone spinoff movie. Either works.
I think she'd make a good villain for a number of reasons.
1. SHE'S ALREADY BEEN THE MAIN VILLAIN OF ANOTHER OFFICIAL THE INCREDIBLES STORY.
Let me highlight something important from her profile. "ARRESTED AND JAILED. RECRUITED BY NSA. WATCH CLOSELY TO ENSURE SHE OPERATES WITHIN NSA GUIDELINES"
That's right, Blazestone is actually a reformed criminal. This one little detail from her profile is a major plot point in the novel Elastigirl: A Real Stretch.
Tumblr media
She was paired with Universal Man as part of her rehabilitation. In the novel, they're constantly arguing, they constantly insult each other. Universal Man is an incredibly strict rule follower and tries to keep her in line. He thinks she'll never make it as a true Super if she doesn't follow the guidelines and acts recklessly ("THESE TWO WOULD BE GREAT IF THEY DON'T KILL EACH OTHER FIRST")
She hates being constantly monitored and forced into teams with other Supers and wishes they'd give her the freedom to do what she wants, as opposed to being constantly badgered into being a better person and following the guidelines
Eventually, Blazestone gets so sick of the National Supers Agency that snaps and decides that the only way she'll be able to do what she wants is to KILL ALL THE OTHER SUPERS SO THERE'S NO ONE TO STOP HER FROM TAKING OVER.
Tumblr media
In fact, her plan involves
1. Steal a shipment of the ZAP chemical (the novel's McGuffin, a radioactive chemical used as a superpower enhancer that has various effects depending on which Super it's used on. For most of them, it disables their powers entirely, for some it makes their powers malfunction and Apogee is the only Super who's powers are actually enhanced by it.)
2. Secretly recruiting all the criminals she jailed as her henchmen and breaks them out of jail on the day of the Super Appreciation Day celebrations. These henchmen are disguised as other Supers and blend in with all the other cosplayers entering the Costume Contest.
3. Attack the Supers Appreciation Day celebration at the pier. Trap EVERY SINGLE SUPER inside a band shell covered by a net that's coated ZAP which basically fucks up all of their powers. She then lifts the band shell off the ground and was heading towards the ocean to drop it in and drown them all.
Tumblr media
 (a few pages later)
Tumblr media
.... I'm serious, that's what actually happens in the climax.
Never mind the fact that she's touching the net covered in the chemical that needed to be handled with heavy gloves WITH HER BARE HANDS BECAUSE HER SUPERSUIT HAS SHORT SLEEVES in order to lift the band shell. ...And the fact that she has no super strength so shouldn't have been able to carry the weight of a structure and 20+ Supers.
Blazestone actually mentioned earlier in the novel that ZAP had no effect on her, and while the novel never mentions it, my theory is that Blazestone is the only other Super who's powers are enhanced by ZAP. Apogee was also powered up by ZAP... in small doses but being that close to the netting enhanced her powers too much so she couldn't assist in the climax without incinerating everyone with the power of the sun. Blazestone must have lied about ZAP not having an effect on her to eliminate her as a suspect for the theft of the ZAP.
ANYWAY, Blazestone went full supervillain and that's the last we heard of her until she showed up dead in Syndrome's Project KRONOS database. Between Supers Appreciation Day and the beginning of the Super Ban, she might have resumed her criminal activities and became part of Municiberg's Rogues Gallery.
As the Super Ban went into effect she might have been kept in a maximum security facility for a few years until she managed to break out into a world where Supers are in hiding. She might have used her powers to commit smaller robberies to survive, which might have been how Mirage tracked her down..
But wait, she's dead isn't she? So how could she possibly be the main villain of Incredibles 3 if she's dead?
2. SHE'S ONE OF THE FEW SUPERS WHO COULD HAVE PLAUSIBLY SURVIVED THE OMNIDROID BY FAKING HER DEATH.
She's the 6th Super to have been killed by Syndrome, and is probably the Super Syndrome tested the Omnidroid's fireproofing on, hence when it's immune to lava.
Except.... Blazestone could have been marked as "Terminated" when she really wasn't.
Tumblr media
But how, exactly? The model of Omnidroid that killed her was v.X2 (the highest being v.10) so it was a VERY early model. Too early to have all the little issues ironed out. Perhaps there was a flaw that Blazestone exploited that kept her alive.
There's also Blazestone's powerset.  She has a threat rating of 5.5, which sounds low until you realise that the highest is Gamma Jack with 7.9 Her powers are listed as pyrokinetic discharge, heat control, heat resistance, high agility and flight (by riding on heated air) which is pretty OP by itself but there's one power not listed on the file that Blazestone mentions having.
From the Bonus Disk Audio Interviews: (sped up because she was talking through the entire interview on 2x speed) "Wait what, do you want me to say the whole thing again? I thought I was completely clear, are you- Do you want me to go back again? The whole thing? I don't understand... (back to normal speed because she realised she wasn't in the dimension where people talk really fast, I guess?) "...OH, okay. *laughs* I am so sorry, I know what the problem is! I can't *laughs again* I keep on forgetting which dimension that I'm in! Wait, which... Which dimension am I in?"
From Lego Incredibles: "Wait, which dimension is this? Never mind, I’m sure I’ll find out soon enough.”
That's right, apparently Blazestone has the ability to warp herself to other dimensions. And this isn't an out of the blue thing that probably isn't canon either, Incredibles 2 shows off exactly how that power would function.
(Transcript from Incredibles 2)
Tumblr media
Escaping by warping to another dimension is a VEEEERY good method of hiding your own body.
Picture this: Blazestone is contacted by Mirage. She's told a lie about the Omnidroid, it's the government's secret project and how it's went rogue. She gets told they looked for her because she's the only Super who defected from the NSA, they need her specifically. If they approached any other Super they might contact the NSA and expose the secret project. So they need her because she won't tattle.
Blazestone goes to Nomanisan Island and is told to go to Room A113 to wait for instructions. She gets bored and hates being told what to do so goes to explore. She finds the lava waterfall and flies through, only to find Syndrome on his computer looking over his Operation KRONOS files. She realises that they lured her to die, that she's not the first one they called to destroy the robot, they lied to her and now she's trapped. She goes back to Room A113, and while they're unaware that she found out, she starts asking too many questions.
The Omnidroid x.V2 is sent after her. She's not fighting to disable it for a sum of money, she's fighting for her life. Blazestone is agile, she flies out of reach of the Omnidroid, and hurls fireballs at it as it has no methods of hitting her back. Until it learns to throw its own projectiles at her. It uproots trees, throws rocks etcetera. It gets an unlucky hit in and knocks her to the ground. Suddenly Blazestone realises that it's getting more accurate, it's predicting where she'll fly next. There's no winning against it. They're near the volcano at this point so Blazestone makes a beeline towards it, if she could just reach the lava....
She's inside the lava caves, she flies directly over the lava. She's heat resistant. She baits the Omnidroid into throwing one more boulder and allows herself to get knocked into the lava. She's entirely submerged. Syndrome is watching the fight through hidden cameras, waiting for her to emerge, but she doesn't. Syndrome makes a quip about how the lava must have been too hot for even Blazestone to handle and marks her down as terminated. In reality, Blazestone warped to the other dimension the second she went under, tricking them into thinking her body melted away in the lava.
As for how Syndrome didn't know about her dimensional warping power, the fact that it's not listed on her National Supers Agency file kinda feels like the NSA didn't believe she had that power. She's a former criminal who probably figured that she she'd defect from being a Superhero at some point. If she ended up in a jail cell, she could teleport out of it. If they knew she could teleport they might have found some way to neutralise that power before sending her to jail. So Blazestone kept it a secret in the even that she'd need to escape from some where.
So Blazestone lives and freaks out about her near death experience. Except... She draws the wrong conclusion about Syndrome. She doesn't know that the government is actually oblivious to the fact that Syndrome is developing a robot strong enough to fight Mr Incredible using Supers as test subjects. She thinks the government is hunting down Supers and killing them with the Omnidroid.
She goes cold turkey on crime in case the government finds her again, but after all that, a deep resentment and rage bubbles up inside of her.
Flashforward to after Incredibles 2, when the Super Ban is lifted and the National Supers Agency is re-established and is recruiting Supers again. The details of Project KRONOS are released to the public. Blazestone's rage boils over.
She hates that the National Supers Agency is up and running to control Supers again like how they suffocated her with their rules and trapped her in a dysfunctional partnership with Universal Man, she hates that ordinary people tried to wipe out Supers when THEY should be in charge.
Remember in Incredibles 2 when Evelyn mind controlled Mr Incredible, Elastigirl and Frozone and made them forced them to say something into the camera during the public broadcast before they hijacked the hydrofoil to make them look bad?
Tumblr media
Yeah, Blazestone ACTUALLY believes that.
As far as anyone is aware, Blazestone is dead. She might hide her face to make sure nobody figures out it's her. She could target the DevTech/Wannabe Supers (Voyd, Screech, He-Lectrix, Brick, Krushauer and Reflux) and shake their confidence in the Supers Agency or the public's faith in Supers, after all, the Supers Agency let all the old Supers die, they public turned on you years ago, who's to say they won't turn on you again? Look, there's already politicians who disagree with the Super Ban being lifted and want to put heavy restrictions on Super activity. I think she'd be after Voyd specifically because she's an anxiety ridden easily manipulated mess who is also potentially a threat. After all, Voyd's power is portals, and she can follow Blazestone when she dimensional warps...
Tumblr media
She rallies a bunch of other young Supers who felt betrayed by the government banning Supers, perhaps she even manipulates a grieving Plasmabolt who's still mourning her teammates' deaths into acting as a mole in the National Supers Agency. She wants Supers to be on top while all the puny normals get subjugated like they deserve.
Baaasically she becomes Pixar Magneto? ... I'm not 100% certain, I'm not all that familiar with X-Men? I just kinda know who he is from watching one movie years ago. I don't know, I suck at writing allegories, I just have the vague idea in my head and I dunno how to put it to paper properly. If I've said something bad or made a bad comparison, I'm sorry. I'm writing this section at 3am.
3. SHE HAS AN EMOTIONAL CONNECTION TO ONE OF THE MAIN CAST.
If The Incredibles was about Mr Incredible and Incredibles 2 was about Elastigirl, who's the third member of their trio who hasn't got a chance to be a protagonist yet? Let's bring up the profiles again, shall we?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Notice anything?
"ONCE PARTNERS WITH FROZONE. BUT RELATIONSHIP RAN HOT AND COLD."
"FORMER PARTNERS WITH BLAZESTONE (ROMANTICALLY?)"
OH SNAP THAT'S RIGHT, FROZONE AND BLAZESTONE USED TO BE PARTNERS. POSSIBLY ROMANTICALLY.
Tumblr media
Blazestone was partnered with Frozone first before the NSA shoved her into the Beta Force with Universal Man. This is purely headcanon, but I like to imagine the Frozone/Blazestone team was known as the Alpha Force because Beta comes after Alpha. The sentence "relationship ran hot and cold" aside from being a bad pun, kinda implies that at some point the fluctuation led to them having a huge falling out and splitting their team apart so the NSA could try again with Universal Man.
Tumblr media
I found this on Reddit's Tumblr sub and honestly, my thoughts exactly.
Imagine the DRAMA of Frozone finding out that his former "Enemies to lovers to enemies" partner who tried to drown him on Supers Appreciation Day that one time who he thought was dead is suddenly alive again and is currently leading a gang of Supers to attacking people. There could be a deep dive into what their partnership was like, how he reacted to her fall from grace and all the mixed feelings of seeing her alive again in the present day.
Maybe this could finally be the opportunity to show Honey on screen. I mean, she HAS a design now and an entire deleted scene that they cut out because it caused pacing issues
Tumblr media
Imagine Frozone lying battered and bruised on the ground from Blazestone fighting him, and Honey runs to his defence. Blazestone mocks her like "What could you possibly do to me? You're powerless!" and then Honey takes her completely by surprise by pulling out a metal baseball bat or some other mundane household weapon and beats the ever loving shit out of her.
Tumblr media
Another idea I had that doesn't really fit into any section is the idea of bringing the Deavor siblings back. Winston and Evelyn having a fractured relationship after the events of Incredibles 2. Winston visiting her in jail trying to understand why she'd risk their father's legacy and endangering DevTech by connecting it with the attempted mass murder with a boat. Evelyn snapping back that he never noticed how she was feeling as they grieved for their parent's deaths because he was too focused on thinking that they died because there was no Supers around anymore to save them.
Blazestone kidnapping both of them and forcing Evelyn, the one who hates Supers with her entire being to remake the Screenslaver technology by threatening to burn Winston to death if she doesnt comply. Why does Blazestone need the hypnosis tech? Because she's aware that some of the Supers she recruited might not be 100% loyal and wants to control their minds to keep them in line if she has to. Because she doesn't care at all about any of the other Supers, she just wants to use them for her own gain so that SHE can control the city. Plasmabolt is definitely going to be the one to betray Blazestone in the end. She realises that Everseer, Macroburst and Psycwave wouldn't have wanted her to harm innocent people to avenge their deaths, so she'd fight alongside The Incredibles family, the Wannabe Supers, and Frozone.
Aaaand that's all I have to say, it somehow took me three hours to move all this text from Google Docs to Tumblr and find accompanying images.
Hope you liked my probably badly written sequel idea

Three Part Harmony (22/25)
“I don’t know why, but I think the girls’ cabins are probably cleaner,” Scully had said, their arms full of firewood at a fork in the woods above the lodge. He had nodded and followed her and now a small fire was burning cheerfully in the grate of the first cabin to the west, a sign that read ‘Ojiig’ over the outside of the door.
There were bunks all along the edges of the small building, stripped bare for the season, but they found a small cedar cabinet that housed linens and blankets a plenty. The top bunks were removable from the bottoms and easily lashed together to create a bed big enough to sleep the two of them with William in the middle. The pack-n-play had been one of the few things that Scully had not been able to bring.
Once they had their minimal chores completed, the cabin warming up nicely, they turned to each other and existed in the exhale of the moment, so much ground to cover they were overwhelmed into silence.
“Do you have any idea,” Scully finally said, stepping up to him, pressing her nose into his chest. “Do you know…”
He brought his arms around her and pulled her close, shushing her.
She was hyper aware of him, had been since she’d connected with him during the rescue, and now every part of her body thrummed at every point of contact.
“That was incredibly risky, what you did,” he mumbled into the crown of her head. “But thank you.”
At that she let the tears come, all the frustration and fear and longing coalescing into a tight ball of emotion that released like the opening of a steam vent.
“Hey, what’s with the waterworks?” he asked gently, dipping his head to look at her. “I was only gone a few days.”
Scully huffed a watery chuckle and held him, amazed at his capacity to laugh, to forgive, to love, to hope. After everything Mulder had been through, he was still soft, affectionate, ultimately kind and noble. She could occasionally feel herself harden against what felt like life’s continual abuse, but endeavored to take her cues from Mulder, who was always able to find a humane equilibrium.
He continued to murmur words of comfort, rubbing her back, his hands pulling little frissions of energy that skittered along her skin. She didn’t know if it was a byproduct of their mental connection, or just the result of their reunification, but she shivered under his touch.
“Are you cold?”
She pressed her body more firmly into him and looked up into his eyes.
“No,” she said, and she could feel the energy in the room shift. Knowing what was likely about to happen, she closed the door on the connection to her son–he was at the apex of the distance she could be away from him anyway.
Oddly, she could still feel Mulder’s consciousness, rippling just under the surface like river grass.
Mulder leaned down, his lips just a hair's breadth from hers. “Whatever this is,” he whispered. “I can feel it, too.”
Scully pushed up and pressed a kiss into him, and the careful control she’d been holding for the better part of a week instantly unraveled. Any semblance of restraint that they’d maintained due to the danger of their circumstances, or a necessary propriety in the presence of William or Rhonda, crumbled.
Mulder’s hands raked through her hair and she threw her arms around his neck, their kissing turning desperate and frantic.
Before she knew it, she was on her back on the makeshift bed, the scratchy wool of the blanket smelling pungently of cedar and making a mess of the back of her hair. Mulder was in between her legs, his body weight a delicious press. Her muscles felt heavy as rain clouds, the blood pooling above her thighs like a thunderhead.
They’d had so many close calls, she thought. So many missed opportunities. All of them running roughshod through her mind whenever their bodies came together. It made their lovemaking more urgent, and more poignant. It was still something to be cherished, but it was also something that needed to be felt .
They were still wearing most of their clothes when Mulder pulled aside her panties and slid thickly into her, the noise he made as he did so throaty and hoarse.
There was no finesse to this bout of lovemaking, no rhythm, but she still soared higher with every rough thrust, the wet sounds of their coupling the only soundtrack as she climbed.
Mulder had a pained look on his face, but she could sense his impending release, could feel it building alongside her own, the tension running just under the skin, arcing back and forth between them until they both came apart at the exact same moment. Their orgasm was roaring, chemical, like a deflagration to detonation transition, the spread of a flame that only burned between the two of them.
They collapsed together in a damp heap, utterly spent and out of breath.
Mulder was the first to move, rolling off of her briefly before pulling her into his side.
“I love you,” he said.
She turned in his arms to kiss him, to look him in the eye. "Me too."
“Now,” he said, and she could feel his nerves still thrumming alongside her own. “Tell me. What all can the two of you do? How do you do it?”
Scully reached out and strummed the bristles along his jaw.
“I’ll show you,” she whispered.
XxX
When they walked through the door of the lodge, Rhonda was holding a squirming William. Both the older woman and child lit up at the sight of the boy’s parents.
“Something tells me,” Rhonda said, wearing a knowing smile, “that you got here just in time.”
Scully gave her a curious look.
“Here,” Rhonda said, handing the child over. “Why don’t you help him walk over to his daddy.”
Scully felt a zing of delight shoot through her. She suspected what was about to happen. Reconnecting to the boy’s mind, she turned him and set his feet on the floor, holding him by the hands.
Mulder, wearing a small curious smile, squatted down about six feet away and faced them, opening up his arms in invitation.
“Hey bud,” he said encouragingly. “Come here!”
William took a few wobbly steps toward him, holding onto Scully for balance.
“Go see Daddy,” she said, loosening her grip on him when they were only a couple feet away. And then William let go of her hands and lurched forward, walking on his own for three steps before falling into Mulder’s outstretched hands.
Everyone immediately cheered, Rhonda and Scully whooping for joy while Mulder swung the boy up in the air, holding him above his head, the widest smile Scully had ever seen Mulder wear stretched across his face.
“You did it!” Mulder praised his son effusively, and Scully could feel a surge of what felt almost like mental voltage coming off of the boy in a rushing wave.
Above them, the lights hanging from the ceiling of the lodge glowed in white-hot candescence and then dimmed back to normal. Rhonda and Scully exchanged a quick look, but then turned back to William, all of them telling him what a good job he did, what a genius he was.
Mulder lowered the boy until he was tucked up against his side, his face joyful.
“If he’s done that before,” Mulder said, turning to Rhonda. “I don’t want to know.”
Rhonda smiled at him. “He looked like he was about to, so I scooped him up before he could. Wanted you both to be here to see it.”
Scully shot Rhonda a grateful look. William’s first steps and both she and Mulder were with him to bear witness. It felt a little like fate.
XxXxXxXxXxX
Mulder leaned back in his chair and sighed contentedly, his belly full of a warm meal.
They had pulled one of the cafeteria tables to the floor near the lodge’s fireplace and Rhonda had thrown together a delicious dinner of some of their more perishable foodstuffs. Scully had William in her lap, and she was taking turns feeding herself and the boy from the plate in front of her. She’d been wearing a small rare smile since their son had taken his first steps a little earlier in the evening. What Mulder wouldn’t give for that to be something she wore regularly.
He studied his little family pensively. Flicked his eyes to the woman who was helping them at great risk to her own life. Scully caught his expression and her gaze lingered on it.
“What I did to rescue you,” she said, feeding William a bite of banana. “I thought I would be pushing the limits of what William is capable of.”
He nodded at her eagerly, leaning forward so that his arms rested on the tabletop in front of him.
“I didn’t,” Scully said, giving him a significant look. Goosebumps rose up on Mulder’s skin. “His power is even more vast and incredible than we dreamed.” Mulder considered this for a moment, what she was inferring; that these gifts would be both a blessing, and a curse.
“Luckily,” she went on, “there’s a lot there that he can’t tap into. I think eventually he will be able to, or maybe only when he has very big feelings. But I think we can guide him as he grows up. Help him control it. Teach him when and how to use it.”
Important, Mulder knew, but he was more focused on the part she was leaving out.
“You say there’s a lot there that he can’t tap into. Do you mean you can?”
Scully took a breath and then nodded at him solemnly.
“So what kind of power are we talking about here, Scully? I saw you rip bolts from solid steel. Crush car door handles like they were soda pop cans…Do you think you can use his powers to kill?”
Mulder saw the apprehension wash across her face.
“Yes,” she eventually said.
“And would you?”
Mulder knew that Scully would do anything to protect their son. He knew that she would kill without a second thought if someone were coming after him. But he needed her to say it. Needed her to acknowledge it.
“Mulder…”
Mulder flitted his gaze to Rhonda and William and leaned toward Scully, resting his arms on his knees.
“Would you?” he asked quietly.
Her voice was equally low. “Yes.”
Mulder gave her a small smile. It was finally time to give voice to something he’d been thinking about since his rescue.
“Good,” he said. “Because I think we need to fight back.”
Scully swallowed thickly, turning her own eyes toward where their son sat on the floor at Rhonda’s feet, playing with a soft fabric book.
“Fight back,” she said without inflection.
“We can’t run forever,” Mulder explained. “We can’t give William a normal life if we’re being hunted. I think we have to hit them back. I think we have to hit them back so hard they wouldn’t dream of coming after us again.”
He watched Scully’s face for a reaction, but she kept her features unnervingly steady.
Finally, she said, “And how would we do that? We take the fight to them?”
“Oh,” he said. “I think we all know they’re going to bring it to us. One way or another.”
Mulder could see Rhonda pale, even from several paces away.
“Agent Bryson,” Mulder went on. “Tried to make me a deal. William for our freedom. When I told him to go to hell, he assured me that he would get our son. He said this time when they came for him, it would be like the very hand of God coming down, rather than an SUV of black ops mercs.”
The room was very still, even William taking a moment to look up at the faces of the grown-ups around him.
“And you think we can fight that and win?” Scully asked.
“I need to know if you think we can,” Mulder said. “Because I don’t think we have a choice.”
Most of the burden of their defense would necessarily come down on Scully’s shoulders, though he would do whatever he could to help her. His connection to their son was still and might always be rudimentary. A sharing of feelings, a wordless communication. He did not have the connection with him that Scully did. He couldn’t control what William could do like she could. And Scully seemed to be a necessary component to their shared nexus; the circuit through which their impulses passed.
She looked at him levelly.
“And if we take out whoever they send after us, you think they’ll leave us alone after that?”
Mulder looked at her squarely. “I don’t think they’ll have a choice.”
Scully released a slow breath. It was always going to come down to this, and they both knew it.
“I don’t want to run any more,” she said. She sounded tired, but also determined.
Mulder nodded at her, and as one, they turned to Rhonda.
The woman looked down at William and then stood up straighter, a look of conviction settling on her features.
“I’ve been running from things my whole life,” she said. She looked at Scully. “If you want to fight back…I’ll fight with you.”
Mulder turned to Scully as well. She licked her lips, looked at their son for a long moment.
“Let’s end this,” she said.

Oh and also 7 so you can indulge in talking about your ocs (the beloved beans)!! <333
I ended up busy all day yesterday so I decided to add some little drawings to spice up my reply <3 I'm gonna resist yapping about Baldur and Cato for this one, and I'm gonna save our sweet Bjorn and Eret for later yaps. Instead I decided to focus on some other dragon hunter OCs!
Tumblr media
People who have read OTWD might remember Sikka for her antler hood or nadder spear, but under the hood she's got incredible tattoos called tunniit. Tunniit are part of the Inuit tattooing tradition that Eret’s tattoos were inspired by. In real life they’re typically seen on women, and these days a lot of women are getting them again to keep their traditions alive, so I decided that based on Eret’s I would give each northern tribe their own kakiniit that identify their tribal affiliation and family. Since our httyd northern tribes live in the Arctic between Greenland and Russia, I figure the tradition probably spread from Greenland! The forehead portion is similar triangle shape for everyone in Sikka’s tribe and represent antlers (there might be variations in exact design based on the family). The chin portion represents one's individual role or honors a family member. Sikka's represents a herder tracking the hoofprints of a reindeer, and her mother had the same. She belongs to the Reindeer Tribe of Reindeer Valley, near Griselda's Fortress and was only 16 when she joined Cato's crew (she's ~21 in OTWD). Griselda refused to hire her at first bc her mother had ended up in a terrible, fatal conflict with one of Griselda's top men that caused controversy between her tribe and the hunting operation, but Cato insisted on giving her a chance. He's extremely proud of her skill and loyalty, and she loves him like a brother, so betraying him in OTWD was not an easy decision. The moment he realizes Sikka's abandoned him is when he decides our heroes have really got to pay, bc he hasn't just lost a payday or even his second chance with Gustav but also his horned shadow. I'm SO excited to see her again in Into the Polar Night, she's going to have a very important role and I think it'll surprise everyone. Hopefully it won't be too long before I post a playlist for her <3
The other two OCs here will only appear in Gustav's short which is tentatively titled How To Hunt Your Dragon LOL
Tumblr media
Ragnall is the quartermaster of the Goregutter, the first hunting ship that Gustav and Cato work on, and he's essentially Gustav's boss despite not being much older than him. He manages the ship and deck for the captain Harald Bloodaxe, who handles the business side like choosing where to port and hunt. Ragnall does hunt dragons but he doesn't manage the dragon hold where they're kept, that's up to a slavic man named Wyrmhart (Cato's boss). His mother was the witch Skuld, and he grew up working whaling boats in Thunderhead Bay, and some of the men grumble that he practices witchcraft. He's strict but generally fair, and likes Gustav just because he's a high quality sailor relative to a lot of the hunters. On the other hand, he despises the mainland vikings who are converting to christianity and their christian Saxon neighbors, so he's particularly prejudiced against Cato, who barely even speaks fluent norse at this point (if he'd bother to ask, he'd learn that Cato isn't a christian, but you know how prejudices are). Ragnall is pretty important to the overall OTWD series for a few different reasons actually, so I can't wait to write his story. I think everyone will find it shocking and fun hehe >:)
Siraj is the 19 year old son of an extremely wealthy trade lord from Marrakesh who pays to bring a lot of Griselda's cargo through the Mediterranean. He's apprenticing under Harald and Ragnall to learn the ropes (literally) of sailing and managing a trade business because his father wants him to have practical knowledge before taking over the business, since he's been raised in a very privileged and comfortable life. He went to university in Marrakesh, so he speaks multiple languages and really boggles Gustav's mind with his knowledge haha. He's really sociable and is Gustav's first friend on the Goregutter, they have a fun gang of friends. The only thing he's not involved with is the actual dragon hunting, since that has nothing to do with running a trade empire. He does go home after his time on the Goregutter so he isn't involved in the plot of ITPN or TOTG, but I imagine that he keeps traveling all over the Silk Road and making friends everywhere before taking over his dad's business.
Whew that was some MAJOR yapping but I'm so glad for the chance to talk about some of my dragon hunters. A lot of the hunters are just background people to me, like the background Berserkers, and I don't really consider them OCs, but these three definitely are <33 my actual reaction to this ask:

National Supers Agency - Supers audio files (The Incredibles DVD disc 2). Based on this video do you think some of these powers could translate well as quirks. Downburst for one seems like a prototype/downgrade of Overhaul so I think it'd work well as a minor quirk
For the sake of this, I'm sticking with the characters in the video and none from the actual movies, so no Frozone. Right off the bat, I'm telling you that Gamma Jack, Dynaguy, Downburst, Metaman, and Universal Man all can't work. Their abilites are either too varied or too powerful. You compare some of their powers to "Overhaul", but reshaping stuff doesn't even come close to total control over matter. Then we eliminate powers that are too similar. We've got "Hellflame" for Blastone, "Whirlwind" for Macroburst, "Vibrate" for Hypershock, and "Voice" for the The Phylange. From there, it's just matter of focusing on the main gimmicks of the other characters. Everseer: Eyeglass Gazerbeam: Shiner Plasmabolt: Ambiance Psycwave: Mindsweeper Splashdown: Waterlogged Stormicide: Iron Lung Stratogale: Exertion Thunderhead: Hydrometer

I usually only talk abt unwind but the scythe books are also really good! (help I’m being held hostage)
but anywho! Citra is the exact copy of Risa and Rowan is the same for Connor. They have no unique personality traits, and barely any growth, because Citra is already portrayed as being incredibly smart and intelligent + mature. Rowan is also mature and the only goofy fun character was killed off. The first Scythe book was really good but then Thunderhead ruined it. Neal kept introducing new characters and then killing them off or giving them the longest chapters ever. I lost interest halfway through reading it, and since I didn’t want to just give up the book, I continued reading it, but mostly skipped every single chapter except for Rowan because he is the only interesting character. Citra starts to get lazy writing which makes her character look weak and then Neal kills off her mother figure.

nobody asked but im typing out all the gripes i have w totk . they're mostly nick-picky tho i loved this game. complaints first, praises after
single biggest gripe i have with totk is that the main selling point of the game, the sky, does not feel nearly as expansive as it should. i feel like there coulda been waayyy more islands up there, and Bigger ones, like the one u start out on. i want bigger pieces of land to explore, not these tiny little rocks. it feels i've seen everything there is to see the moment i land. as far as i remember, there's no biomes in the sky islands either, except for the great sky one. there's no differences, and many of the islands are copy-pasted. still fun to explore and still beautiful, but i was expecting... more
while i love the depths with all my heart and being down there is an Experience, i do think it could've been improved with a little bit of variety. it looks the same wherever u go, with the exception of the eldin region and a few other lavafalls sprinkled about. i think some different biomes woulda been so cool
no post-game. i don't even necessarily want a fully fleshed out post-game, i literally just want the game and the world to acknowledge i beat ganon instead of dumping me back in time moments before the fight i just started. this is a common thing, i know, but i Hate the practice
u can't pet th efuckign dogs
what the hell happened to ganon's face in that one scene . i thought we were past weirdly impossible expressions like that one midna grin. why did it happen again in the year 2023.
why did ganon's intro scene before the final fight pan to his feet so much
kinda predictable story, in the sense that zelda turned into the light dragon. saw it comin a mile away, but this is just me being bitchy the story itself is still very fulfilling and good. just predictable, which isn't necessarily a bad thing
okay that was 7 complaints 2 of which were memes now sit back as i ramble abt the good stuff. already made a thread abt the little stuff i liked now it's the bigish stuff
the music in some of the areas is genuine fucking art. some of my favorites are the wind temple theme and it's approach track, the construct factory theme, dragonhead island, the bits of the calamity ganon theme in this game's final boss track, frozen rito village,,, so many pieces of genuine skill and talent
the wind temple is absolutely one of the best experiences i've had in a video game, not because of the puzzle design, but the temple design. the moment where you look up into the clouds with tulin and you see a giant airship silhouette highlighted by lightning,, the approach track that plays when ur getting higher into the air had chills running down my spine. what a cool fucking concept for a temple
there's already a post somewhere on tumblr abt this, but i love that the citizens of hyrule don't follow the typical "every man for himself" apocalyptic mindset. they help each other, constantly. they seek out people to help in their spare time. they shelter each other and volunteer to do hard work for the sake of everybody else. i just think that's rly endearing n nice. a good message
the entire fuse and ultrahand mechanics are SUPER fun. so endlessly creative. and i love that a lot of the time, the game doesn't hold ur hand. it doesn't even Grab ur hand, it pushes u off the ledge to teach you how to fly. it Makes u get creative with ur solutions. it makes u feel stupid a Lot, but sometimes it makes u feel like an absolute genius (anybody else have trouble with that one rail shrine? anybody else just launch themselves across the pit and rail grind to skip the thing entirely?)
tulin.
the vibes of the thunderhead isles were Incredible. i went up there before the clouds cleared, and i gotta say, even if the game Wants u to go up there later in the story, exploring those islands while the storm is still active is an entirely different experience, and i recommend it. if ur reading this before you've finished this part, just don't go to the actual dragonhead island . leave that for when it prompts u, trust me.
ganon's dragon design ? fucking killer
a lot of the new armor pieces are really beautiful. the miner's set looks so fuckin stupid but the headpiece is cool. all the torso pieces for the elemental dragon sets r Gorgeous
loved that the first half of the final boss took place in the depths, and the second half took place in the sky. nintendo has always been good at linking game elements with stories and this is no exception imo
LOVED when ganon's health bar stretched super far to the right. that was so silly and intimidating
in the final fight, the way ganon would only be affected by flurry rushes at first and not any random attacks, but then random attacks were the only way to hit him later. i know it was scripted, but it genuinely made it feel like he was learning to fight link better
the theme of cycles and the circular nature of time throughout this game is wonderful, and how it's mirrored in the first/last settings of the game is genius. how the game starts in a cave, and then part of the ending is in that same cave. how link dived alone into that pond below the great sky island at the start, and then at the very end he dived For Zelda in that very same pond

Big Corp Inc. (17/43)
***This chapter contains mouthplay/ mild sexual content***
Chapter 17: Cake
Candy had been smitten with Martin before, but now she was obsessed with him. She was reluctant to leave him when he dropped her off at the railway station, but she did want to get home so she could shower and rest up. Every time she thought about him, her heart fluttered and she felt warmth spread throughout her body. She couldn’t deny her feelings; she was hopelessly in love.
She wanted his attention and affection more than anything, so she wracked her brains for a way she could thank him for rescuing her. She recalled that Bianca mentioned he had a sweet tooth and decided to bake him a cake. Although a cake her size wouldn’t even be a single bite for him, she figured he would still appreciate the gesture. He could at least taste the sweetness on his tongue when he put the cake in his mouth.
Excited at the prospect of making Martin happy, Candy took a shower back at her apartment, changed into fresh clothes, and went to the grocery store. She didn’t have much money left, but cake mix and frosting weren’t too expensive anyways. Candy enjoyed baking. She liked the idea of making something delicious that would make others joyful and satiate their hunger. She labored to make the biggest cake she could realistically carry. While it would be nowhere near large enough for a Giant, she was still pleased with the result when she took it out of the oven.
Once the cake cooled, she slathered a liberal amount of buttercream frosting all over the outside, more than she would normally use since she knew the whole cake would be eaten up all at once in a single mouthful. She kept the cake in the pan so that she would be able to transport it to work tomorrow. As she prepared for bed, she started to feel ill as she thought about going back to Big Corp Inc., working in between Ronny and Mr. Hardon. She had been so enthusiastic about pleasing Martin, she didn’t think about how Mr. Hardon had literally tried to swallow her alive in his ice cream sundae.
She wondered if he would be so bold to eat her again while at work. She suspected the office environment had protected her up to this point, since he hadn’t consumed her until she was at his house. The memory of being forced into his gigantic mouth, sliding down and getting caught in his throat with the walls of meat crushing her on all sides made her quake with fear. She was scared, but she thought to herself that she’d be okay. Her desire to see Martin again overpowered her better judgement.
The next morning, Candy got ready for work and left her apartment early, hauling the unwieldy cake pan with her. She was apprehensive about going back to her job but thrilled to give Martin a surprise cake. Her conflicting emotions were pulling her apart but she surged ahead regardless. As she boarded the railcar, she daydreamed about Martin. His stormy gray eyes were so alluring, the most beautiful eyes she had ever seen, full of poignant feeling in their depths only magnified by their incredible size. Looking into his irises was comparable to looking up at dramatic thunderheads far up in the sky on an overcast day. Every feature of his Giant face was pleasing to her eye, from his prominent nose and full lips to his strong jawline and the dark stubble around his lips and chin. She fantasized about how soft and tender his huge lips would feel pressed against her, with his warm breath on her body and his stubble tickling her skin. She wanted to be close to him so badly; she wanted him to love her.
Her sugary dreams propelled her through the lobby of the Big Corp building up to the third floor. She arrived early, before most of her coworkers would start filtering in for work, so she had to take a bold risk and ask a stranger to press the button in the elevator for the correct level for her. The Giantess who helped her was properly dressed, unlike Mr. Hardon’s employees, and was quite surprised to see a human, but helped her like she asked. Candy couldn’t see her feet around the cake, but she made sure to hop over the gap in the floor as she exited the elevator. The journey to Martin’s cubicle was a long one, especially when carrying a big cake, but she had given herself plenty of time to traverse the long distance.
Due to the early hour, the floor was eerily silent, devoid of the usual ambience of clacking keyboards, ringing phones, and conversational chatter. The only background noise was the hum of the air conditioning and electronics. Candy felt at peace with the knowledge that nobody would be around to harass her and threaten her safety. When she made it to Martin’s cubicle, she was pleased to see his desk happened to be equipped with a capsule launcher. She had observed that such accommodations were sporadic, with the understanding that the partitions with human ladders linked the desks together so she could at least theoretically access any desk in the core office area. She entered the capsule launcher with the cake and made herself comfortable on the surface of Martin’s desk.
She couldn’t wait to see him again. He would be so surprised! She conjured up scenarios in her head of how he might react, each one more fantastical and self-indulgent than the last. The office started to liven up as her coworkers arrived, and she heard the repeated dings of the elevator and its doors swishing open and closed as it carried Giants to the workspace. Sensing he would soon arrive, Candy took the covering off her cake and smiled wide.
Her smile vanished, however, when a different Giant stopped outside the cubicle. Ronny was on his way to the break room to fill up his coffee mug when he spied Candy sitting on Martin’s desk. He was plenty tall enough to see over the cubicle walls, so his approach was all the more frightening to Candy when she saw his Giant face leering over the towering wall at her. He entered the cubicle, his huge mass filling up the small space. Candy whimpered with fright but stood her ground, refusing to relinquish her cake she had spent so much time and effort to make and transport. She knew running would be futile anyway.
Ronny’s dark eyes drank in the scene before him. “What do you have there, Candy?” he questioned her with a creepy grin, leaning forward over her and drowning her in his shadow. “And why are you on Martin’s desk?” He set his giant coffee cup down on the desk next to Candy.
“N-nothing that concerns you, R-ronny,” Candy stuttered back, trying to be assertive. “Just move along before Martin shows up.”
Ronny’s unsettling grin widened. “I’m not worried about him,” he snarled. He reached his enormous hand out. Candy yelped and covered her head with her arms defensively, but Ronny didn’t grab her, opting instead to pick up and examine the cake. He brought it up to his face and sniffed it. “Oh, it’s a tiny cake! Smells good too!”
“Hey!” Candy shouted. “Give that back!” She didn’t put all that hard work into her cake just to have it wasted on that brute Ronny.
“Hardly much of a cake at all, is it?” Ronny mused. His gigantic fingers crunched down on the pan slightly, bending the metal and breaking apart the cake. “I’m assuming you made this for Martin, but what makes you think he’d appreciate it? It’s too small for a Giant. You’re too small. You’re a weak and pathetic human. He wouldn’t want you or this crumb of cake, quite frankly.”
Ronny’s cruel words struck a nerve with Candy. Although she tried to hide how upset she was, her eyes started to well up with tears. “Stop it...” she mumbled, averting her eyes to her feet with shame.
“I’ll tell you what. I’ll give you back your cake. In fact, you can have your cake and eat it too!” With his free hand, he moved quickly to knock Candy on her back and pinned her to the desk with his fingers. Her limbs flailed as she pummeled his finger with her fists in defiance. Ronny took the cake and smashed it down on her, smearing it all over her body and clothes. Candy was stunned as the Giant laughed over his cruel trick. Her cake was destroyed. Ronny was delighted with himself. He tossed the warped pan that he had crushed between his fingers on the desk next to Candy with a clatter. With an arrogant grin, he reclaimed his mug and left Candy laying on the desk as he continued on his original course to the break room, humming to himself.
Candy slowly sat up, wiped frosting out of her eyes, and looked over her body at the remains of the cake with sadness. Ronny had ruined everything. The cake was entirely unsalvageable. She had already started crying at his taunts, but now the waterworks really kicked in and salty streams ran down her cheeks. Her thoughtful gesture of thanks to Martin was gone. Now, she’d never be able to gain his affection. She glumly pulled herself to her feet. She needed to remove herself from his desk, before he showed up and saw her in such a mess.
Just as she had this thought, Martin rounded the corner and entered his cubicle. He halted in his tracks when he saw the small human on his desk, crying and dirty.
“Candy?” he asked with surprise. “What’s wrong? Why are you on my desk?” His gray eyes grew dark and stormy with concern and he slowly sat down in his chair.
Candy sniffled and turned away with shame. “It’s nothing, Martin. I’m sorry to inconvenience you. I’ll be out of your hair right away.” Head down, she shuffled over towards the capsule machine. Martin blocked her path with his wall of a hand.
“Hold on, Candy. Talk to me. What happened?” Martin asked her, his voice soft with sympathy. He lowered his head and squinted at her. “Is that… cake?”
Candy nodded and wiped her eyes. “I made you a cake, to thank you for going out of your way to help me yesterday, when I was lost. I was going to surprise you with it, but Ronny found me first and smashed the cake all over me. It’s inedible now.” She exhaled a shuddering breath and wept a fresh batch of tears. “I don’t know why he’s so mean to me! He hates me for some reason!”
Martin’s stormy eyes flashed with a lightning bolt of anger. He needed to have a not-so-cordial talk with Ronny later. For now, though, he wanted to comfort Candy. It broke his heart to see her so upset. He thought about what he could possibly do or say to rectify the wrong done to her. As he pondered, his eyes drifted over her small form. She was covered in the remnants of her prized cake. She had chunks of cake stuck on her arms and legs, on her clothes, her breasts. Streaks of frosting ran through her hair, over her face and neck, up her inner thighs. Martin started to drool as lustful, gluttonous thoughts wormed their way into his brain. She looked irresistible. He recalled how amazingly sweet she tasted when he ate her, and he knew her delicious flavor would pair marvelously with a cake.
“Um... Candy...” he began, choosing his words carefully. “I don’t want your cake to go to waste. If it’s okay, um... can I still eat it?” He moved closer to her, his massive face only feet away from her and his chin hovering just above the desk.
She tilted her head and looked at him, confused. “But I don’t have the cake anymore...” She glanced down at her body and clothes, slathered in cake crumbs and frosting. Her eyes widened in horror. “You’re not planning to eat ME, are you?” she cried, hugging her arms around her body protectively.
“Heavens, no!” Martin replied, his face burning. “I didn’t mean that! I just intend to... you know... eat it off your body.” He rubbed the back of his neck with his hand, realizing as he uttered the words how gross and crude he sounded. He hoped he hadn’t just scared her off. He licked his lips to prevent strands of saliva from dribbling down his chin. His urges were growing stronger, his concupiscence and hunger harder to control.
Candy gazed at his lips, which were almost close enough for her to reach up and touch them, remembering her fantasies from earlier. She wanted to lay down on those full, soft lips like pillows, or even go so far as to slip inside them. Her eyes drifted up the landscape of his face and met his stormy gray irises. She was floating in the clouds in those huge eyes. “Ok,” she agreed. “I trust you.”
Martin slowly cupped his hands around her delicate form and lifted her off the desk. He straightened his spine, sitting back in his chair, and brought her up to his mouth. His heart was pounding and every inch of his flesh, including down below his belt, was alive. Candy, too, was quivering with anticipation. Mindful that he didn’t want to move too fast and scare her, Martin started by tentatively nibbling her with his lips. Candy leaned into his lips, which were even more sensual than she imagined, and kissed him back, caressing his bottom lip with her hand. His enormous lips parted and he touched her body with the tip of his tongue. His taste buds exploded with sweet bliss. His tongue moved further out, exploring her body. He gently licked the cake crumbs and frosting off her shirt and breasts. His lips closed around one of her arms and he drew her in up to her shoulder and sucked it clean, rubbing it down with his tongue inside his mouth. He did the same with her opposite arm, keeping his movements soft. Candy used her free hand to play with the stubble on his upper lip.
He gradually moved down to her legs, the strokes of his tongue becoming larger and more voracious. He eagerly attacked the big stripes of frosting that clung to her thighs, forgetting himself and sliding the tip of his tongue up her skirt. Candy let out a startled gasp and Martin retracted his tongue right away.
“S-sorry about that,” he apologized with embarrassment. He had gotten carried away with how good she tasted.
“No, don’t stop,” Candy breathed. Martin blinked with surprise, but was more than happy to oblige her and reached his tongue back up between her thighs. He tasted a whole new flavor in her sweet spot. Candy spread her legs apart wider and uttered soft moans of pleasure, which turned Martin on even more. He found himself massaging his hard dick under his desk with his other hand. He licked her inner legs clean and became aggressive enough with his tongue that he lifted her out of his hand with it, so her feet were no longer resting in his palm. She slid forward on his tongue towards his lips.
Martin was tempted to scoop her up entirely into his mouth, but he didn’t want to do such an act against her will and frighten her. He opened his mouth timidly to make clear what he wanted and waited to see how Candy would react. Candy, sitting on his tongue, looked into the dark, fleshy cave in front of her. The inside of his mouth, from his teeth to his red cheeks and palate, was dripping with saliva. Warm, moist breath emanated from his gullet deep inside. Candy, having gone through the unpleasant experience twice now of being swallowed, felt a small stab of fear as she gazed into the passage at the back of his throat, which moved slightly in rhythm with the Giant’s breathing.
Candy was nervous, but she trusted Martin not to swallow her. She crawled inside his mouth, moving farther back on his tongue. Martin, pleased, pulled his tongue back to its default position inside his mouth and slowly closed his jaws around her. Candy tried her best to stay calm as she watched the rows of massive teeth come together. She was enveloped in the same wet warmth that she recalled felt so nice after she had been trapped inside the refrigerator. The huge tongue undulated beneath her, tasting her. Martin curled his tongue around her tenderly and rolled her around in his mouth, savoring her sweetness, gently pressing her against his teeth and the roof of his mouth. She was divine.
As bizarre as the whole experience was, it felt oddly intimate to Candy. Without the fear of being eaten, she strangely enjoyed being inside his mouth. She could tell how much he loved her taste by how much he was salivating and playing with her on his tongue. She liked being securely surrounded on all sides by his warm flesh, pleasuring him with her whole body. Instead of just feeding him a yummy treat, she herself was the treat that gave him so much joy. The concept was appealing to her, not to mention the physical sensations.
Martin, for his part, was certainly enjoying himself. Candy tasted beyond amazing. Martin wanted to do so much more with her than he could do in a public place. Some time, he’d have to take her home with him, if she’d have him. He was optimistic. If she liked and trusted him enough to crawl inside his mouth of her own volition, he figured his chances with her must be decent. She felt so good in his mouth, he almost didn’t want to let her out. He was tempted to swallow her, although of course he wouldn’t do such a thing to her. He restrained his urges, though his stomach grumbled eagerly for a snack. He sucked her clean of any cake residue, rolling her around in his mouth a bit extra for good measure.
He gently released her wet, disheveled body from his mouth into his hand. He was worried that she might have been miserable inside his mouth, but his fears were dispelled when he saw her flushed, beaming face.
“Wow, Martin... that was... something quite special...” Candy said.
“You... didn’t mind that? Really?” Martin had to admit he was surprised.
Candy shook her head and smiled up at him. “It was nice, actually…” The pair held eye contact without speaking for a long moment before Martin blushed and turned away. He tried to ignore the hard lump in his pants. He imagined unzipping his fly and sticking Candy down inside, but he knew it was a terrible idea to do something like that while at work. Plus, he wasn’t sure how Candy would react. He realized the size of his equipment might be quite intimidating to her. He pushed those intrusive thoughts out of his head for the time being.
“Why don’t we get you cleaned up and back to your desk?” he suggested, lifting her up and carrying her off in his gigantic hand. Candy snuggled into the soft folds of his palm, and his heart melted.

I just love clouds so much they're like one of my favorite things. It all started from the ridiculously beautiful clouds often drawn in anime.
Good clouds make me feel happy, I haven't memorized the names or anything, but I sort of rate them. Sometimes you get what I call "Toy Story clouds" which are evenly distributed little fluffy clouds across a blue sky.
Then you have the massive thunderheads looming in the distance. Sometimes they're so far away they're faded because of atmospheric fog.
I love detailed clouds, well defined clouds, with little ridges and shadows, with volume.
Or when you're in the mountains, and the clouds are incredibly close, they feel so much more real. And when you get high enough you see a soft blanket covering everything below, gloomy beneath, but serene above.
And don't get me started on how the sun interacts with them. You have your classic sunsets, making the sky orange, pink and even green, right on the edge of the horizon. When a big cloud covers the sun but doesn't quite blot it out. The cloud lights up on the edges, and God rays slip through, piercing the air.
I like clouds.

I'm rereading book one and I'm remembering how much I love every character in this series.
I love how everyone is so protective of Citra. Faraday as her mentor defending her at Conclave, then faking his own death to try and save her and Rowan. Rowan failing the tests to support her. Marie taking her in and cooking for her. Marie picking her up and carrying her out of the revival center when Citra's in too much pain, then calling in an international network of contacts to help her escape. The Thunderhead flying her out to the Chilargentine region as far away from Xenocrates as possible, talking to her, reassuring her as it brings her back to life. The Thunderhead orchestrating an entire plot with Greyson to save Citra from the explosion. Constantine heading an operation to catch her assailants. Possuelo looking out for her and being a father figure. Tenkamenin encouraging her research and giving her a place to stay. And then there's JERICO FREAKING SOBERANIS who would LITERALLY DIE A THOUSAND DEATHS for her.
The only non-villain character who doesn't seem to behave this way about Citra is Cirrus. Cirrus is just like "lol sorry I'm busy so you'll have to wait." (I won't go off on another tangent about Cirrus. I won't go off on another tangent about Cirrus.)
Through all of this, Citra is never a damsel in distress. She's an active and three-dimensional protagonist who has a kickass support system backing her up. I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like it. As incredible as the worldbuilding in AOAS is, what really makes it so special is all these different relationships between its characters.
