The Number 23 (2014), Famous Last Words (2023), Casisdead

Yeah, so the lyrics are shit – just sort of loads of repetitive ‘ard man, punchline-y one-liners and bags of unabashed, indefensible misogyny, the reason so many find so little in UK hip-hop – but Casisdead is otherwise an emphatic and ambitious artist. His debut mixtape The Number 23 offered a spinning mix of electro and industrial, anything and everything, fascinating and bold beat choices that belted, beamed, boomed. Last year’s official debut Famous Last Words was just as singular, its instrumentals crafting an entire world even if its Ali G-esque lyrics failed to really add to it.
