PSY - GANGNAM STYLE(강남스타일) M/V
youtube
It occurred to me I should show up and see what that place is in Watson analogy to me it's really about the suit and so I got it and it's not really straightforwards
Megan Merkel
As long as a great idea for store here and actually we already started working on it and Mac did too and Trump is the one who went and did it in fort Myers and a lot of people by there and are very thankful in this life changed a little bit not a time but it works and you can put it right in Sears and it'll be a Sears outlet and what they sell there or washers and dryers and dishwashers freezers refrigerators mini refrigerators full size freezers small appliances and other things too compressors and pumps and generators all sorts of things that are scratched or they have minor dings or some kind of recall work and therefore usually about 30 to 40% off or more sometimes 50 to 60% depending on it the items issue his mom is to buy them at 60% every time and it was something but really it is an anchor and brings in people that need stuff and that's who's here I don't really need Macy's stuff there's other stores that would do very well here and know the cookout place is not doing well and it could but they don't put the right stuff in no it's way too pricey. A mobility store is a great idea scooters for around the house and around the block and even around down the street like our model they have electrics they go down the street on the street and they have a segways in foot segways all sorts of things that actually work there's a few other ideas but those are two of the best they need tools and things but that could happen at Sears outlet other ideas are popular and people need them this Gundam idea it's really good and it's working. Good idea for cosplay a little shop with a whole bunch of cosplay love it and it would be a supplement to fye and hot topics and people come from all around and buy them for real and some of our sons clothing line would be considered cosplay and you can put it in he wants to have a Halloween store here and it's temporary and people like it it would bring a lot of business in and people would start thinking about the whole apartments and he's been trying to do it and it's running out of time there's only less than a couple weeks we have huge schedules tons of stuff to do these things need to be done here and we need to get going on it there's plenty of shows and things you can bring here the easiest ones to do are muscle cars and motorcycles and everybody loves from coming down here they can eat and stuff get drinks go inside and cool off and they had a several car shows and he went to them and people came down and shows inside there's a ton of people that have strange stuff to sell and they can clear it it's just that they don't do it it's kind of flea market type stuff that's another idea so we're hoping it gets the go ahead but really the people that own the mall are the problem and they have to be forced to sell and they don't want to and they are not bja or Trump or Mac or any of the others they're maxed and Max proper and they say they decide what happens here in the mall and they want people to all have a crappy time just like Tommy f so you're not really working out and a lot of people are fighting each other but still do things but they're now trying to stop everything I say go against with a warrant here at the mall and get a taste of what they're going to do
Thor Freya
We were thinking that but he is the one who's pushing for it and we should get some teams behind him and I'm volunteering some of ours right now
Hera
We're going to stand up for it and we're going to get into it and we're going to start right now
Nuara Artianna
I shouldn't get chased off like that and people are wondering what happened and they always buy stuff there but now it's on the corner and it's going to attract business and I might put one back inside if it goes well I do say how it was it was getting abused and the staff was getting abused and it might be that way we're going to try it that way I see the ideas for the stores and I had an idea for a small engine shop put on there bikes and things but it's really complicated you have to have the right one for the right bike and it's kind of a bicycle shop idea so I'm thinking about on your motorcycle there's engines that you can switch out and he says people need the whole thing and you'll get the scooter you can do easy the ground clone and offer the package and you do it secretly like the Gundam guy I know the robotic ones is all sorts of stuff that he can get is true too I'm going to go ahead and do that
Tommy f
What kind of mutiny you know we wanted to do things while we're feeling the pain it's terrible they're screw UPS too this Max I have ideas and I'm going to do some of them tell me f and I are fighting over the scooter thing I guess but neither one of us are doing anything tonight this would be perfect really put anything in here another one's running it saying when nothing so it's kind of stupid someone said a smoke shop inside and they might have might work but not many people are smoking. Really you see people coming in and eating that's a place you can sit down and eat so I get the idea
Mac Daddy
Wow that's surprising people are starting to see something we're keeping the place opens it's worth while it's other stores are just starting to do okay some of them are not doing so great and their prices are weird the last strange but it works we need to tell people your prices are way too high you haven't sold anything in years give them to do something

I hate when people in small towns on tv complain about how nothing ever happens in their town when they have like block parties and festivals. My town is so boring that the most exciting thing to happen in the last five years is them moving a house four blocks and everyone showed up to watch it

I am feeling pretty good right now. I am going to take a shower but I am in a good mood and I am ready to have a few days off and get some rest.
I hope you all had a good day today. That you stayed safe. That you wore your masks and washed your hands. I had a very good day. But it was long and busy.
I slept okay last night but I was kind of bummed James wasnt driving me. I was tired. But I got dressed and tried my best to feel okay. My hair continues to bother me, But its okay. I got to work and was glad to be there.
But a little sad that some of the counselors werent. And it was other's last days. The summer is winding down. They still dont know whats happening with the fall but I am hoping for the best. And enjoying everything while I can.
I got up to the art shed and started setting up. I found that the hammocks smelled really bad. Like sweat. Probably from all the teens yesterday so I decided to wash them. I washed the green and the blue one and it went a lot easier then I expected it would. I washed them in one bin and rinsed in another. And they had to hang to dry for a few hours but they felt much better after that. I did decide to buy one more hammock. To share with Evan and Noelle when we go camping next month. So we each have a two person and a one person, each couple. I hope we have the trees for them! James thinks it will be good but we will figure it out regardless.
I had some very good groups today. The first one was only 4 kids. We had a good time though and I enjoyed their company. I really liked this project but Im excited for it to be over. Honestly this happens a lot, like by friday every week I am just a little burnt out on the projects. But its still fun.
I had some time between my first and second groups. So I got some stuff ready for the day. I was going to have 2 groups at once, one on each side of the building to keep them apart. So that was a new trouble but it ended up going really well. Like I still had to run around like a chicken but I still made it work. Even when one of the kid's pieces needed to be redone, it was all good.
Cj came and visited me with the mini horses. They were chewing at my hammock and almost knocked her over. Silly. I also found a bee that needed help. It was just like. A nice day. I embroidered. I had fun with the kids.
I also learned a little more what the fall might look like. It looks like it might be a half day of art and a half day of me watching a group while they work on their computers. I am allowed to read and embroidery, but I would be available to troubleshoot and help them out. They think they will have an answer on monday but I am just hoping for the best.
Joe the groundsman walked around camp with me to find jars for next week. I was excited to talk about the project but walking and talking made me very winded. We. Gotta lot of jars though and i am very excited. Everyone seems excited for the project and i am too.
At the end of the day there was some drama but we also had cupcakes to celebrates some of the teen's birthdays. Which was cute. I enjoyed my cupcake. Sat with a couple of the kids. And then headed home.
I was so glad to see James but I was also hot and starving. He had a grilled cheese and hashbrowns ready for me because he's the best. And we played animal crossing together for to long. I am trying to build a farm for the fall so we moved the entire boardwalk over to a different beach for now. I am probably going to move some more stuff but its some progress and it was nice to change things up. I havent done that in a few weeks and I missed that.
Now though I am watching scary videos and very much looking forward to a shower and laying down. Tomorrow me and James are going to try to go to a flea market and go through our camping stuff to make a list to share with Evan and Noelle.
I hope you all have a good night tonight and sleep well. Be safe!

So after I have played Animal Crossing for the past few days, I do hope Nintendo is going to add some stuff to it.
1. I want to swim. Honestly, this was one of the best BEST features New Leaf introduced to the game and swimming at a deserted island makes total sense. Who books an island vacation package without the ability to swim?
2. Where are the bushes? You all remember the New Leaf bushes with tropical flowers on them? I planned my island specifically with those and I’m surprised there are not included for now.
3. The Café. Kofi/Brewster was my absolute favorite character and going to the coffee shop to drink a coffee or get a coffee to go made my whole day. Hope it comes back soon and we get more coffee options (also want to work there again).
4. Gyroids. Collected all of them in the previous games and it’s weird to not find any of them on my island.
5. Museum extension. Art gallery and the star-observation thing (what is it called in English?). Loved creating my own star signs and would love to do that again. They also had a few information cards for every object you donated to the museum. That was lovely.
6. My lovely western furniture. That may be just in my game, but I have a difficult time finding good furniture. It’s quite limited and I have not seen the older furniture series yet. Are they in the game? For anyone who is now playing in the fall season: Is mushroom furniture back?
7. Bananas and deep sea fishes. Yes, I would love to have more fruit and more stuff to put in the museum.
8. More shops. I created a shopping street on my island, but two shops don’t make a good shopping street, right?
9. Activities on those special islands. If it’s a generic island you are travelling to with your ticket, there is not that much to do? I would love some mini games or any special activity you can ONLY do on those islands.
10. Hide and seek. Do I remember it correctly and we could play hide and seek with our villagers in New Leaf? Would be absolutely beautiful to do that again. It gives you a special connection with your villagers.
10b Flea markets existed, right? Right?
11. Villager visits. Not sure if it did not come up yet in my game, but villagers used to visit my house in the previous games. I miss that, honestly.
12. Special items you can interact with. Okay, not sure how to phrase this one, but I will take the climbing frame as an example. In NH you can just sit on it and don’t really interact with it in any other way. I would love for it to be bigger and where villagers could climb on it - similar to the artwork for NL.
13. “Deeper conversations”. My villagers say the same phrases over and over again and I feel like some of the personality got lost in a way. I love reading those weird conversations my villagers have and would like to know more about them. I have four sporty villagers on my island and they say the same thing.
14. Buying more clothes at once. Would love to buy pants in five different colors all at once without leaving the changing room.
15. More special events. Who does not love special events? I would love to have more and I’m sure many more will come. (Please, do not ever put a fishing tournament and bunny day on the same day. Caught only eggs in those three minutes).
That is all I can remember for now. I LOVE this game and the graphics and I’m super excited for new updates and features being introduced.
If anyone else has something else they would want to see, feel free to add it :)
Side question: Can I only get cherries/roses/any other flower I don’t have through online player or are there special islands where I can find them? Because my islands only had my native fruit so far.

Completely Harmless Appendix 7
Appendix: Rainbow Week
1.     Rainbow Week/Luck Day/Valentine’s/JoJo Siwa/Red String Trail Ride
Holidays, in my opinions, should be events. My favorite thing the first time I played in Star Stable was around Christmas and we had all these Christmas Quests to decorate the county. Then they took that out and it was blah. So, I wanted to bring that Christmas style feeling back where you’re going around and decorating the county or your area of the county and then you have stuff to do during the actual festival.
Tumblr media
You can do holidays one of three ways, you do it like Christmas where there’s a set thing every year. Or you can it so that the holiday has progressive story, so each time it comes around (say Fashion Week) a little more of the story is unlocked and you can only do new story if you’ve progressed through the old. That way you don’t have NPCs talking about current story lines when the new players haven’t gotten that far in the story.
Or, you work your plot into the holidays. And then as the plot progresses, you’ll have more holidays as the years of your plot move forward. However, this requires that you have all of your story and map completed before launching the game. I chose number three for the story because it was convenient writing wise. (For Mystic Riders we go with option one.)
Tumblr media
To Rainbow Week in particular, Rainbow Week was something they introduced in 2019 to “replace” the Fortuna Festival, which they only did one or two years. It was supposed to be celebrating friendship? Basically, what happened, was the rainbows crashed and that’s about it. (I am not touching Mica. Nope. Nope.) They might have had the parade with the Bobcats. But there weren’t any quests anymore. The quests were all about setting up the parade route, decorating, and helping Tan make the outfits. Which were cool in a way except the Bobcats were foisting their duties on you because of nails. Maybe they took them out because they’re trying to change the Bobcats story image? I dunno. We older players know the truth.
And then there is Valentine’s Day which also celebrates friendship and love where they have the group race. There used to be quests about making teddy bears and a chocolate and berry cake. Then you had the letters with Derek. They removed those and that was sad. So I put them back in.
Tumblr media
Then there is the Red String Trail Ride which you do in the “spring” and celebrates Friendship. Which was a trail ride with some random events programmed into it. It appropriates (yes, appropriates) the Chinese story about the red string that connects people’s hearts. I’m not really a fan of appropriation. It’s in the game. I can’t really do anything about it.
Lastly, they had Jojo Siwa in the game as a licensing gimmick. She likes rainbows and sings about friendship. They had you find bows in Moorland in order to trade them in for items. I expanded this across the entire county and then also had the player hand out bows in order to spread the news of friendship and love and Jojo Siwa to people in the district so they’d come watch Jojo. (Something that SSO didn’t do.)
Tumblr media
I mashed all of these together because they share the same theme to make Rainbow Week more exciting. This meant adding in more musicians and having fun treats, and being able to make crafts for the housing we don’t have yet. (I guess it’s going to come sometime in the next decade.) Fortuna Festival gave clues that these holidays are Club led so that’s why I ran with the clubs doing the festivities. And having things like special crafts, charms for a friendship bracelet and the selfie walls would encourage everyone to travel all over the county to collect things. Plus having things like the treasure hunt and of course, Chaun and his rainbow spices things up.
Instead of having Chaun give random items, I instead gave him a shop so that everyone can get the items they want. The other idea could be to use the same mechanic as the big pumpkins and the goats, and have a lottery system. But I really do prefer shops more.
Tumblr media
Brogan is my own invention. (As is Fill-E, the all girl j-pop band.) His game mechanics would be similar to having Spirit in the game. He shows up somewhere in the area after the rainbow crashes and you catch him and he’ll give you a task. That task rewards you with rainbow gold and reputation points until you reach admired with Brogan. Once you reach admired, you can take him to a Chaun and he’ll open a shop for you to exchange your rainbow gold for items with Brogan. His items will be different than Chauns.
And of course, once the decorations go up, they have to come down.
Tumblr media
I also included an Art Show for Fort Pinta and a Flea Market for Firgrove. (The Farmer’s Market would continue as usual except it’d be decorated. Same for the Horse Market.) These two areas could have arts and crafts that are rainbow themed and available for the player to purchase again for home decoration or jewelry or clothes, etc and so forth. There could also be special rainbow themed makeup going on at the salons. There could be shops featuring rainbow themed clothes, but they aren’t paying me that much to do that for free.
FOR THE ACCOMPANYING IMAGES PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE MY WATERMARK AND CONTACT INFORMATION. THANK YOU. I get it. Some of you might get excited and want to see this stuff in the game, especially the clothes, tack, and pets. However, the only way I want to see this in the game is if I get paid for it. If I see it in the game and I’m not paid for it, there will be hell to pay. You think I’m salty. I’d be angry. Personally, I’m not going to send this info to SSO. If you do, leave my contact information there! Don’t give them any excuses to steal.
Now, I’ll know you haven’t read this note if you leave me comments about how ‘salty’ I am about the game and if I hate it so much I should do something else. I am doing something else. It’s called Mystic Riders MMORPG Project. Mystic Riders however is a very baby phase game. You can check out our plans on the game dev blog. (Skills, Factions, Professions, Crafting, Mini-Games, 25+ horse breeds!) If you know anyone who would be interested and has money or contacts about game making, direct them to the blog.

Written by R. Ann Parris on The Prepper Journal.

One of the challenges when we get into preparing for disaster is keeping everything neat and organized. In some cases, we’re trying to maintain our own or a spouse’s sanity and keep some of our preparations neat, tidy and organized without being in plain sight while short on space, either square footage or because we rarely allow something to leave our grasp. Beyond the ease in counts and condition checks, and avoiding a hoarder’s larder, organization can help us with both rotating supplies and in some cases even rationing our supplies should we fall on hard times.
Happily, there’s lots of stuff out there that can help us. Repurposing some items that are inexpensive, commonly found curbside and at flea markets or yard sales, or that we might already have laying around can help us maintain that organization without breaking the bank.
Maps & Rolls
Keeping our wrapping paper neat and tidy might not appeal to preppers, but we can steal some of the ideas out there for keeping our maps, charts, and our property plats accessible and tidy. There’s one where you take an old wire shelf and affix it vertically to a wall or door instead of horizontally. The 250ml wine boxes are ideal for keeping both maps and wrapping paper contained and neat, and most alcohol retailers are simply delighted to let you have boxes.
Cutting the bottoms out of hanging shoe organizers lets us customize height. That one has added benefits because you can leave pouches intact to keep map pens, sprays, and dry erase markers and erasers right there with them. It also allows some mobility, so they can be re-hung by a work board, in a radio or control room, or at the desk and table where you do your planning.
Hanging Shoe Organizers
You have to watch the weight in these guys, but otherwise, the sky is the limit. They can hook us up in pretty much all wedges of our preparedness “health” wheels. I’ve got some in use for “daily” life, too.
One’s in the kitchen keeping small packets of instant cereal and snack foods and the last bar of one kind or another from either getting lost in the abyss or from having the boxes continue to eat up space. One’s for winter, and keeps hats, scarves, and gloves neat and organized. The bottom row holds some quick slip-on slippers for household members and the dogs’ various booties. There’s another set up with each person’s preferred garden and yard work sets of gloves and pocket detritus.
For preppers, the value goes up further. With stick-on labels or clothespins, we can use them to track dates for at-a-glance organization. We can also take a space where we would be limited to boxes or shelves and turn it into basically a rack for them. A couple of freebie curbside-pickup filing cabinets, a bar or two to go across the top, and we can string our organizers on dowels or sturdy branch/sapling trimmings.
The filing cabinets here are actually reading nooks, but it gives you an idea of how the addition of a plank (freebie-pickup shipping pallets, walls/shelves from curbside bookshelves) and a curtain (surviving sheet from a wrecked bedding set) can keep it from being “ugly” even if it’s out in a home where somebody cares. If appearance is less of a concern, some suit hangers and any ol’ pole can be hung in sheds, basements or a storage room to accomplish the same – a flip or slide-through storage area for small items.
Those items can be anything. It can be a great way to keep veggie seeds separated by planting/growing season and year. We can use them for sewing supplies or art supplies. Instant drink packets, seasoning packets and shakers, granola bars, little packets of vitamin-rich gummy treats, boxes and packets of pudding or gelatin mixes, and other kitchen items fit easily. We can arrange them to be a general category like snacks or spices, or we can set each up by expiration or best-by date.
Educational goodies, supplies for the radio room or office, entertainment items, hygiene items, and especially first-aid and medical items that do start separating or losing efficiency are all other options for storing someplace we can find and see them easily and check those dates without pawing through boxes.
We can use hanging closet organizers much the same way to buy some extra space, although they’re not as handy for the tiny little items and still have the weight restrictions.
We can also use them to help us ration, just like we can with canning jars. We can pack each with a week, a month, or a quarter’s “goodies”. That can be seasonings or instant helpers like gravy or dressing mix. It can also be things like chocolate chips, tea bags or a brick of coffee, smaller packets of cookie, edible cake decorations, or Slim Jim’s. Some of the shoe organizers are big enough we could even seed them with fresh games like Qwixx or Dog Bites Man, new decks of cards, some specialty feel-good lotion or chap stick, or something seasonal to brighten the mood.
Another option is to use a shoe organizer as a pre-staging area. Rather than those things that jump in buggies getting tossed in a box or drawer for a while, they can get slotted by category. It can also help with those items that seems like a great idea but then hide when we want them. That can be everything from eyeglass repair kits and those mini sewing kits, to things like outlet and light-switch wall plates, overhead pull cords, and those plastic twisty-cap wire connectors that like to multiply in drawers and tool rooms.
Curtain Rods
While we’re hanging things to improve our organization, we can keep an eye out for curtain rods. With some rings and-or big S-hooks, they can help us in all kinds of spaces. We can mount them in our bathrooms – and our outdoor camping/solar showers – to drape bathroom organizers and avoid having stuff sit on ledges and floors. With hooks affixed to light baskets and tubs, what we can hang for easy access increases even further.  Those baskets can easily be the bathroom organizers or oddball dishwasher or silverware baskets that show up here and there or wire or plastic bins form the dollar store, and get used for school and office supplies, kitchen spices, each individual’s hankies and bandanas, or anything else we like.
We can arrange them under cabinets or against walls to keep items like spools of thread, bungee cords, and weed-eater wire accessible. With hooks or loops, we can add our extension cords, gloves, and tools. By our doors, they’re another easy way to keep hats and gloves organized, and the airflow they’ll get will let them dry faster.
While I specified curtain rods, be flexible while we’re upcycling and repurposing. I see swingsets and bed frames on freebie listings and by the curb on a regular basis. Tree trimmings can yield nice, straight pieces. The scrap guys in town will let us have pretty much whatever we want at about a halfway between their cost and sale price. Be flexible.
  Garage & Shed Storage
We can use all kinds of oddball wrecked, found, used, or inexpensive items for storage, although the garage and shed where we don’t have to hear anything from family members really shines. We can use coat hangers and hooks with a piece of looped rope, chain, or bungee cord to keep heavy extension cords, hoses, and heavy rope neatly coiled and off the flat surfaces. A wrecked binder offers three rings that can hold anything, from our bungee cords to cleaned cans with a hole punched that can then hold our paint brushes, garden pruners, gloves, or safety glasses.
You have to pretty much murder somebody to find them now, but a plastic 2L soda bottle is awesome for allowing us to stack and move bottles and for keeping stuff in a pickup or van right where you want it. They can also be screwed flat to a wall to use the holes as shallow storage nodes, but they’re too shallow to have much value for me there. Instead, see if a plumbing outfitter or company has PVC scrap. It’s usually deeper and you can cobble that into a honeycomb with some screws and get a lot more use out of it.
Throw-Aways
All kinds of things that hit our recycling and trash have other uses, particularly in keeping our storage neat and tidy. The cardboard boxes that soda comes in get a lot of play for upcycling into soup and veggie can organizers, but we can also just slit the top off entirely. Swiffer pad tubs are awesome for stacking and labeling the sides, but really only for lightweight stuff. Old-school laundry detergent boxes with the flip-up lid and the little plastic handle are sturdy, stackable, and you can hook that handle around a screwdriver on your belt or a carabiner for hands-free carrying. Plastic coffee cans, jugs, powdered parmesan shakers, and creamer tubs are hugely versatile.
Indoors or out, they can help us organize absolutely anything. Arrange packets of Lipton and Knorr sides, seeds, Heartgard and Frontline, or spice blends. Keep extension cords, tow cables, tie-down straps, or Christmas lights neat and tidy, and ready to deploy again (which buys time and space for other stuff). They can also help us keep kits of commonly replaced items together.
The plastic options can help us keep pests out of dry pantry goods and little packets of drinks or boxes of pudding. Those plastic bottles are also handy for rationing out things like brown and white sugar that last forever in storage, or once we bust into bulk bags or buckets of snack foods and dry goods.
Drink bottles get a lot of play for organizing wire, ribbon, and cord. If you have access to wide-mouth juice or sports drink bottles, those make excellent ways to keep some ammo in a bag nice and dry – but don’t try it with narrow-neck water and soda bottles, not even with .22 LR. There’s nothing wrong with using them for beans or grains, either, since they stack up like cordwood well.
Mostly, though, I think people seriously underestimate how much water they need. I may be the only person affected by Uncle Murphy on a regular basis, but you need water stored even with a well, because you need time to hunt down the problem and repair it if the pump goes down. So, for the most part, I’d rather see soda bottles get used to store water, everywhere, in homes and in vehicles.
Organizing Preparedness Supplies
The time spent in organizing not only makes maintaining our storage a little less daunting and time consuming, but also allows us to better visualize gaps. The sanity boost from neatness and not being overwhelmed by our piles o’ stuff can’t really be overstated, either, and less-involved family is less likely to add to our stresses when they’re not overwhelmed by it all, too. Since there’s so many items out there that we can scrounge for free or little outlay and repurpose, we really don’t have any excuse not to keep our storage organized.

Linkara’s Kamen Rider Fourze review
youtube
@atopfourthwall
REVIEW KITAAAAAAAAAAAA!
Hello, Channel Awesome fans! I am one of the many western representatives of this little fandom Mr. Lovhaug is about to encounter in the comments section of the video you see before you.
Now the first thought that some annoyed fans of his unfamiliar with KR might ask is…”Why this? This isn’t a comic!”
Ah, but a comic book creator is responsible for its inception, or in this case a manga creator: Shotaro Ishinomori. He was known for creating a lot of superheroes in Japan among other things. Plus, Kamen Rider has been adapted into superhero manga stories like Kamen Rider Spirits or Futo Detectives and its original incarnation’s main character was a manga drawing concept first before becoming a TV star.
And for those disappointed that Secret Origins Month was cut short, well this counts as an origin of a super hero, just one you are not familiar with. So ..you get three origins to heroes this year instead of four *shrugs* Plus, Lewis deserves a break and a honeymoon after all that non-stop work. :)
0:33-0:34: “Known for having an insect-like look” Hmm… fair enough. The core trait of a Kamen Rider is that they have detailed and round compounded eyes on the mask. (most of the time, some play with that aesthetic or drop it altogether). The original 15 Riders were themed after different insects and this bug theme carried over on and off again until Double. (OOO briefly brought it back with the Gatakiriba Combo). The producers, costume designers and staff also decided to play around with various costume themes aside from bugs like Oni, Japanese folklore with trains, a Vampire with a stylized pumpkin head, chimeras, wizards, video game genres ..and cars. This season’s hero as of late 2017, is organic things like animals fused with inorganic objects! (A Hawk mixed with a Gatling gun for example).
If one were to ask me personally about what the draw is, it is the slightly heavier focus on characters than fluff and a balancing stance on being as over the top and crazy as possible or having dramatic and quiet moments that invest you in what is going on….also crazy-awesome weapons and karate cyborgs and/or men in belt activated power suits who can stop/destroy evil by kicking and punching them really hard!  And bikes! Cannot forget the cool motorbikes!
Fun fact, the original Kamen Rider’s actor also played Segata Sanshiro!
0:57-1:02: “Patreon sponsors will get a KR: Dragon Knight review if they donate enough $$” Given the pattern I’ve seen so far based on this and the preceding Gokaiger review, odds are you are more likely to encounter/collide into a request for either another toku series from 2011-2012-2013 or an anniversary event of media like Gokaiger vs. Gavan or Ultraman Mebius. Am I the only one noticing that he has done anniversary seasons of different franchises and both are from 2011?
1:03-1:25 GAH! MASKED RIDER! *DEMONIC HISS* Yeah, some KR fans can agree this was a horrible mistake as Saban tried too hard to force Kamen Rider into a Power Rangers mold…which doesn’t work because there are tropes and elements that separate the two that cannot be removed to fit that format. Also the fact that KR was absent from TV for most of the ‘90s aside from clipshow specials and a 12 minute crossover with Ultraman in one said special. Using clips from the darker Shin Kamen Rider movie and the two movies directed by Keita Amemiya was just a hodgepodge mess when blended with Black RX.
1:26-1:28: Ah, Dragon Knight! A good series adaptation screwed over by 4Kids execs for those wondering why it was cancelled despite winning an Emmy.
1:43-1:53: Even Linkara dislikes Ferbus, the Jar-Jar of our fandom.
1:55-2:36: Four-Zay. It has to do with Japanese pronunciation of the “e” sound. Don’t feel bad about the complaints though, we are getting drama right now here about the correct pronunciation of the current secondary hero Kamen Rider Cross-Z. It is just one of the pitfalls of being fans or observers.
The reason for the space theme was to celebrate the 50th anniversary of man’s first flight into space, hence the astronaut motif of Fourze’s costume!
4:10-17: It’s a Space Station. Though it would be easier to identify as such if Sir Alec Guinness was present.
4:35-37: It is a kind of male cowlick pompadour, he is reflecting the style of a high school Yanki in popular Japanese fiction. But, unlike them, he isn’t a jerk. Also, I really like saying pompadour. Pompadour, pompadour! Pooom-paa-douuur!
4:50-58: “Better to be an idiot than a tool” I want that phrase on an arts and craftsy bathroom sign that you get at a flea market to hang on my wall.
4:59-5:30: I can accept you not liking the visuals and critiquing the opening but sorta liking it, that’s fine. But... this is our jam, so let’s crank it! Ladies and gents of the uninitiated to Kamen Rider, for your possible audio pleasure I give you...SWITCH ON! by Anna Tsuchiya! Woooooooo!
5:36-42: Don’t tempt fate man. Toei is a vicious beast when it comes to Kamen Rider related materials on the interwebs, ask Des or anyone in the toku community. Also since you mentioned the complaints about subbing: *Queen music* Another one gripes the subs, another one gripes the subs, and another logs on and another logs on. Another one gripes the subs! Hey, he’s trying to do a review, but another one gripes the subs!
... Sorry.  Also, fans, be thankful he took time out of his busy (and now married) life to even do this. He could have ignored the request to do a Rider series and gave you nothing...just sayin’.
5:43-50: heheheh....Setup.
6:19-29: aaaand pay off of a man surprised by a burger toy being in a show when he was only being sarcastic about one being there. This burger thing actually has some possible explanation behind it. See Kamen Rider had changed TV sponsors in the start of the 2010s. One of those new sponsors? The American fast food giant, McDonald’s. Yeah, as part of a deal with the toy company Bandai and TV Asahi, the mighty Golden Arches could sell Happy Meal Toys (or Happy Set toys as they are known in Japan) of Kamen Rider characters and promote Bandai’s Ganbaride and later Ganbarizing arcade game by handing out special collectible trading cards in the kids meal. The Foodroids, as the assorted mini bots are called, are all coincidentally based on McDonald’s food products like McNuggets, burgers, a milkshake, french fires and the Japan exclusive McHotDog Classic. Still, not as cool as the McMegazord or a Mr. T Holographic Trading Card.
6:45-48: “Always follow the nice one talking about friendship and stuff, that person will become an all powerful god or something.” Wait....is that a Madoka reference? Hehehehe...should I tell him?
7:16-22: Well, the idea is that Gen wants to be a good friend to everyone by reaching out to people and trying to help them, even if they won’t admit that they have problems. He’s just that nice of a guy. And...it works. There is an excellent article that the now defunct Comics Alliance did a while back on Fourze that explains it better.
7:41-55: Amanogawa High School (shortened to AGHS by some fans) is a Japanese education structured school but has an American high school aesthetic, especially with social cliques and the environment reflecting one.
(Minus the budget cuts and selfish parents and politicians refusing to pay more taxes to further improve learning and engage in creative activities, increase a teacher’s pay or failing to maintain the building and spending all the special education and tutoring money on a new football stadium)
8:01-05: That is the power of Koichi Sakamoto at work. Yes, THAT Koichi Sakamoto.
8:28-30: Powder-izer? Sounds like an Avon product, what is this... Powder-izer you speak of, stranger of our ways? I kid, I kid. I know that one’s going in the New year’s bloopers. Go easy on him folks, to err is human.
9:10-13: Yuki is useful at times and is a good friend, it depends on who’s writing the episodes how the characters act. Sometimes a Rider series can have up to four writers working on it, hence why some shows suffer in quality while others are more consistent.
9:53-10:00: “It’s a Bomb!” Ha!
10:24-26 Saw that coming a mile away...and still a good reference joke.
10:27-30: Fourze’s suit design is loosely based on another creation done by Shotaro Ishinomori, Skyzel from the Space Ironmen Kyodyne show of the mid 1970s. Fans of Lucky Star already know of that series thanks to the humorous karaoke of Konata singing the opening theme song. It took a bit of getting used to when fans first saw the suit, but most of us grew to love it!
13:07-17: That is Tomoko Nozama, a precious little cinnamon roll who is a geeky goth that is into the occult and urban legends. She will be an important thing later, but that comes past the point where he stops.
13:28-47: No surprise, this show is about the younger Millennials and the Japanese writers actually do research on subjects beforehand in some cases. Unlike the luddite schlock kings of tinseltown, who think com-pew-tors are magic boxes or write them as such thinking the audience is stupid.
14:05-08: *Driver.
14:24-30: Well, if that didn’t shock you, I know a scene in a little show called ToQger that will make you yearn for the days of seeing a bike go into space. Or a Shinkenger V-Cinema or even...Amazons.
14:40-46: Ah, legacy. The original plan for this series was that the kids would investigate the Kamen Riders and their legends and gain the powers of past Riders in switch form...which was turned down by execs due to Decade doing something like that a few years back. The idea in some ways was salvaged in expanded non-canon materials, Legend Rider toys and the Ganbaride game. Since Linkara went a bit fast on that shot, the Riders you see before you in the footage are Kamen Rider 1 (the first Rider if the number didn’t give that away), Super-1 (Rider #9 from 1980 and also astronaut themed like Fourze, only mixed with a hornet), Black RX (Evolved form of Kamen Rider Black from the late ‘80s) and Kuuga (first Kamen Rider of the new millennium) and a scanned newspaper photo clipping of Futo Tower’s destruction by the evil Kamen Rider Eternal from the Kamen Rider Double summer movie. (great film, check it out after you watch a bit of Double!)
14:50-53: Behold, the most Redbubbliest logo in our fandom!
16:40-44: *spits drink and laughs* Does....does he know what KR Ghost is? Even if he doesn’t, that is too surreal, given Ghost’s poor reception among some fans after a certain point punctuating the joke.
16:50-56: Well, Japanese Superheroes don’t really always go for the secret identity thing. It is admirable that they are willing to risk their own privacy and lives just to save someone. They don’t do the dumb thing some comic book heroes do where they have to choose between their secrecy or saving a life, they just suit up and go right to it! Plus, with such a large community of heroes with them or the confidence they can defeat their foes, risk of death is minimal in most cases unless a “defeat flag” is triggered.
18:30-34: Miu grows as a character, she does become a little nicer and realizes the value of true friends later.
19:05-08: Shun is a jerk at first, but there is a good reason for that involving his life at home.
Yeah, the fourth episode is a bit weak.
Happy you like Gentaro!
21:40-22:04: Well, it depends on the suit and Mr. Seiji Takaiwa’s direction by the film crew. Some fights are fastpaced, some slowly build and others fizzle out with a beatdown or curbstomp. I’d argue that it is more Gentaro being new to fighting in-suit as he later learns things like kick boxing, gets better at using his Astroswitches and mixing his fighting style with the use of his jetpack. Koichi Sakamoto did a good job on the out of suit fight action and the battles got more intense in the movies due to a higher budget.
All in all, a fun time for everyone! Now I did see the comments of those who were curious about where to start with Kamen Rider and I’ll answer with the usuals that most recommend: Black, Amazon, Kuuga, Den-O, Double, the original 1971 show, OOO, Ex-Aid, Drive and Gaim.
Before leaving this post, I have something to personally say to Mr. Lovhaug and the KR fandom will agree this is a good choice…
Tumblr media
That quote from Mr. Belt is useful when somebody ties the knot!
Count up your sins and make amends. Believe in hope and your friends. Let the desires of a bright tomorrow, overcome every sorrow, and may you love each other ‘til Diend!
May your love for Viga always be in top gear and your lives together burn bright!
The Kamen Rider Fans of the USA, UK, etc.
Thank you for your time Lewis and giving our heroes a moment in the spotlight! We are grateful!

Arkansas Traveler 100
Tumblr media
I had the pleasure of running the Arkansas Traveler 100 this weekend near Perryville, AR.  What an amazing experience and well organized race!
Jen, Autumn and I arrived on Friday in time to check in, eat, then walk around Perryville for a few.  Turns out they were having a Goat Festival that weekend featuring a fashion show of goats in Lingerie!?  Glad I would be busy running a race!  After buying a couple things from the local flea market we headed back to Camp Ouachita for the pre-race meeting.  We got all the particulars of the race, rules, markings, etc. and met up with a few friends from Tulsa area and met some new friends.  Since we don’t partake of carbs much, we decided to forego the pre-race spaghetti and go check into our motel and hit the local steakhouse, Colton’s.  It didn’t disappoint!  We returned to the Super 8 motel and I went through all of my gear and checked it twice.  Like the party animals we are, we were in bed by 8PM.  I slept well until about midnight, then I was up and down until about 3:15 when I decided it was time to get up.  I had my coffee, ate my turkey sandwich and took a shower(yeah, for some reason I like to do that before I spend 20 something hours in my own stank).  We were about 30 minutes away from the start/finish so we left around 4:45 to be there for 6AM start.  I still had to get my race bib and do the morning check in.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My parents, who were taking a week of vacation nearby, came to help with crewing.  They’re pros with helping crew me by now.  They joined us at the start/finish and we reviewed driving, supply and logistics.  By then it was close to starting time.  My friend Scott Smaligo came by echoed my thoughts, “I’m just ready to start this thing!”  We took pictures next to the “Arkansas Traveller 100 sign” together, I hugged and kissed my family and I joined the runners on the road for the start!
Tumblr media
Autumn is having a good time while we plan.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I ran back to Jen for one last kiss and was back with the other runners shortly before the gunshot(literally).  I think we were all surprised when it went off.  We took off down the mile of pavement before we entered the rocky, dirty, and often foot-hurtiness that would be the rest of the race.  We all settled in and almost immediately started separating.  My A goal was to finish in under 20 hours, but with the much warmer weather than I anticipated I would just take what the course gave me.  The morning was cool and breezy so I decided to try to get some good mileage in before the heat.  I ended up running with a strong runner named Sam for a little while.  We chatted as we made our way down the packed gravel road.  He was a principal at an elementary school from Michigan.  Nice guy.  I heard he ended up falling and having to drop later on.  I looked him up but haven’t been able to find him online.  It looked like he was doing great until he fell.  Praying he’s fine.
Tumblr media
After about 8 miles, we ended up on the Ouachita trail which was really rocky, but really fun.  About half way through the roughly 8? miles of trail I hit the Brown’s Creek aid station for the second time.  I remember telling the lady, “That was fun!” while pointing at the trail I just dropped out of.  She pointed to more trail across the street and said, “Well, go get you some more!”  I grabbed a strip of bacon, as I had the first time I hit this station, and took off.  However, this part of the trail was not as fun.  It felt like at least 2 miles of ascent.  Very rocky.  There were definitely still some fun parts before we dropped out of the trail and back onto the jeep and gravel roads.  I opted to wear my Altra Timp trail shoes on this first section due to the trails.  It was a good choice for this part.  Great shoe!  Because so much of this course was so rocky, I ended up switching to my Altra Olympus around mile 48 to finish out the race.  They provided more cushion and gave my feet some relief.
For some reason, I seem to hit my lows in the early stages of these races.  Around mile 30 as it was heating up, I was running on some parts of the trail that provide little coverage.  My stomach was getting a little funky.  I slowed down.  I power hiked all of the uphills and gave my stomach time to recover.  I was having trouble keeping up with my hydration and slowing down helped.  I knew I was hovering around the top 10 runners, but I just wanted to run my race.  I’d meet my day pit crew (my parents) every 16 miles and we’d refill what needed to be refilled, I’d lube what needed to be lubed, and change what needed to be changed.  My daughters joined the crew at mile 48.  It was so good to see them!  Kayla flew in from California and Kristin drove up from Louisiana with their husbands and we used the race as an excuse for a mini reunion of sorts.  Seeing them certainly gave me an extra boost!  Kristin ran with me for a bit from Copperhead aid station.  Loved it!  Also, at this section, I could see the other runners coming back from the turnaround.  Some guys were missing….and I was 7th!  Nice!  Evidently, I had passed a few guys who needed more time at one of the crewed aid stations and didn’t even realize it.  Shortly after, I crossed them as they were still running to the turnaround. A couple of them looked like they were struggling.  As always, I encouraged them and ran on.  It was encouraging crossing the other runners and seeing the smiles, getting high fives, and seeing their determination.  You feel and see a full range of emotions when running an ultra.  Excitement, pain, sorrow, determination, joy….
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was a bit behind pace to get my sub 20, but I’d press on with what my body gave me.  I had lost quite a bit of time in the heat but the night was coming and along with it cooler temps.  My brother was going to join me for the final 16 miles so I was just doing what I could until then.  I’d also get to see my Jen when I picked him up.  I was really anxious to see her.  She was supposed to meet me and take over earlier, but my dad was worried about her on some of those messed up roads at night with just her and Autumn(she’s 5) so they stayed on a little longer.
Running in the dark, just before my second crossing of Bahama Mama’s aid station at mile 72.6 I almost stepped on a copperhead.  I had seen 3 other snakes on the trail but they weren’t poisonous.  This guy, though he wasn’t huge, would have ended my run.  After i left the aid station, I was so paranoid and watching the ground for snakes that I tripped on a rock, hit my knees, hands, and rolled.  Side note:  Judo and ju-jitsu prepare you for all kinds of things.  Due to my training, when I fall on the trails, my body knows whether to just eat the fall or roll.  Rolling saved my knees and hands big time on this tumble.  Once I was back on my feet, I did inventory.  I had a few little gashes on each knee, my palms were scratched and bruised, and my right wrist hurt.  I made sure I hadn’t busted my hydration bladder and took a few steps.  Everything felt fine ok.  I sped up….still no hurting.  Awesome!  I kept cruising until I fell again a few miles later!  Grrrr….  This time, I didn’t roll and jammed my right wrist again.  Ouch.  Might have to check on that after the race.  One other time, I twisted my foot on a rock and hit the top of it really hard.  That’ll leave a mark.  I’ll post a post race pic.  It left a nice bruise.
Tumblr media
Throughout much of the race I had been leap frogging with a nice guy, and strong runner named Steven.  This was his 10th 100 miler and he had only been running them for about 3 years.  We’d cross on the trail and meet at just about all the aid stations and encourage each other.  It’s hard to explain to non-trail-runner-ultra people the dynamic of encouraging and helping people you are technically competing against.  I love it.  I love seeing people accomplish this stuff and if my encouragement and competing against them helps spur them onto greater achievements, then that’s a really good thing.
I picked up my brother for the last 16.  We ended up hanging with Zack and Daniel, his pacer and doing some leap frogging with them too.  They were broth from the Tulsa area and I had met Daniel before on a training run.  It was Zack’s first 100 miler and he was killing it.  Though he was struggling with some leg issues, he was still moving well.  My brother is a really fast hiker so he would pass me power hiking the inclines and I’d catch him on the flats and downhills.  He told me to go ahead and go if I felt like I could and wanted to take off.  When we finally reached the last aid station and I realized that I had 6.6 miles to go.  It was on.  I was ready to be finished.  I was ready to see my wife again.  I took off.  With about 6 miles to go I met up with Zack and Daniel again.  I told them I was ready to be done and I may blow up shortly, but I was cruising.  I ran almost the entire 6.6 final miles at a really good clip.  I power hiked one short incline and had to squat under a tree over the trail (it was hilarious because I could hardly squat!)  When I came out to Crossroads check in, I was 2.4 miles from the finish!  I ran harder.
When I got out on the road for the final mile I was so pumped.  I knew there was a final uphill coming so I backed off a little. A woman who was on the side of the road with a headlamp said, “You know there’s a runner not far ahead of you and they way you’re running, I think you can catch him.”  I said, out loud, “It’s ON!” and dropped the hammer.  With about ½ a mile to go I saw 2 headlights, the runner and his pacer.  They were fast walking.  I thought about turning off my headlamp for the sneak attack, but didn’t.  I should have.  I could tell the moment his pacer saw me.  His headlamp spun around and their headlamps started bobbing fast.  I ran harder….still closing the gap, but was running out of gas and running out of road.  Strava shows that I actually got below a 7 minute mile here.  This uphill was killing my legs and they were still moving fast.  I tried, but I couldn’t catch him!  When I crossed the finish line, I found out that I was chasing a guy by the name of Daniel(another one) I had met at the Full Moon 50K.  Good guy and very strong runner.  He said, “Dude, where did you come from??”  He left the last aid station (Pumpkin Patch) at 1:06 and I left it at 1:43 and in 6.6 miles I almost caught him.  It made for a fun, competitive ending.  I finished in 20:24:45 and he in 20:24:10.
Tumblr media
This was a great race on a challenging course.  The aid stations were top notch and everything was well organized.  There was definitely a great atmosphere out there.  I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge.
On a side note:  I had my phone loaded with music and audiobooks for this race and planned on using them when I felt like it.  Well, I never felt like it.  I thought about it during some of the low times when I was questioning why I was even doing this crazy thing….or to distract myself from the pain, but decided to just stay in the moment on this one.  It was a good journey in my head as well as on my feet.
Once again, thanks to my parents for their help and unwavering support.  Thank you to my kids who came out to help and cheer me on.  And a BIG THANK YOU to my wife who puts up with my training, my hyper-organized race prep, and grouchiness when I’m spent.  I love being on this journey with you. Last, and most of all, I thank God for the ability and freedom to enjoy doing this thing that I enjoy so much.
On Sunday evening, my parents cooked a big gumbo at Maumelle park.  We all hung out as a family and had a great time.

Week 2
June 22
We took Saturday pretty easy since we were out pretty late on Friday. We went out to lunch at a cute little cafe called “Casa muamor,” I got a pasta and pesto dish which was alright id give it a 7/10 the sauce to pasta ratio was kind of off and the sauce was really oily. I also ordered an orange juice which like all the other places we have been was delicious. After lunch I went back to the residencia and just hung out with my roommate and some of the guys from here. That was pretty much all we did on Saturday nothing too exciting.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
June 23
We woke up to go get brunch and we went to “El Galeon,” the restaurant that's right around here. I got a “Pollo Completo,” sandwich which was huge and it also came with a side of fries. Besides the portion being huge and not being able to finish it was delectable and the restaurant has redeemed itself from that subpar salad I got from there the previous time. I also ordered an orange juice (what's new).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After lunch, some of us went to San Telmo to go to their version of a flea market with a bunch of artisanal things. The Market goes for about five blocks and we went around 2:30 and let me tell you it was PACKED. It was really cool to see all the things people had, my one gift that i want to get for myself is something leather whether that be a jacket or a purse since leather is something Argentina is known for. The only thing that one should be very careful to watch out for pickpockets since there are so many people and usually you can't be distracted looking at cute stuff, one thing I did was make sure my cross body was over my body then i put my jacket over so that my cross body wasn't really exposed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After walking down the whole market it took us about two hours and then we decided to head back to the residencia. I took a mini nap and then got ready for dinner with our other professor. We all went to this restaurant called “calden del soho.” It was really nice but the prices were pretty expensive (thank god this was one of our program meals hehehe), I got a flank piece of pork. It was actually funny because i had no idea what piece of meat to order and my friend ashlyn who is now a vegetarian was helping me pick lol the irony. Any way when my plate came out my mouth was droooooling, it smelled so good and let me tell you the moment i put that first piece in my mouth i was in heaven.
Tumblr media
I also got some of our professors salad which was just a normal “ensalada completa,” we also got some wine to accompany our dinner. I'm not the most knowledgeable on wine but i know i do like red wine. The bottle we got was “ Saint Felicien Malbec,” I had three glasses so I guess you could say I liked it.
Tumblr media
For dessert I got a “Flan,” for those that don't know it's basically a custard with caramel. I feel like you can easily mess up flan but thankfully it was made to perfection. We were also celebrating our friends Tyler’s birthday! So happy birthday again tyler! After dinner we went home and got into bed since we had school the next morning.
Tumblr media
June 24
Today we had school and I feel no matter how much sleep one gets mondays will always be difficult. Thankfully we only had class till 1:30pm. After class, some of us went to “Che Taco” a place right off of the “Independencia” stop on the blue line. I got some tacos de carne, let me tell you I didn't think I was gonna be satisfied because mexican food in Argentina some people would question it. I was pleasantly surprised! We also got some guac & chips and they were finger licking good, i also got a Jugo de Jamaica (hibiscus) and it was too good to be true.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After lunch we went back to the residencia and I took a little nap (no surprise there) and then got myself ready for dinner. We went to a restaurant in Palermo called “Moriela,” I had the absolute pleasure of seeing my longtime friend Becca and she came with us. We shared a margarita pizza and a bottle of red wine (not sure what kind but it was great).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After dinner some of us went to get some drinks to continue celebrating our friend's birthday. We went to Ragnar the bar we had previously went too, we stayed for about an hour or two and then went on home since we had class the next day.
Tumblr media
(my friend Juan says he loves the rain... lol)
June 25
Today after school we went to go get Empanadas from a place down the street. I got one cheese and onion, one chicken and one steak. My favorite one was surprisingly the cheese and onion one.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
on the way home we had a mini photo shoot.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then just before we got home I had to stop by a grocery store to look for an item targeted to kids and see what the nutrition labels looked liked and if they were easy to find. On top of this we had to see what the regulations were compared to the ones in argentina. It was interesting because you see how much power there is in something so small. The labels were so small and kind of hard to find mean while here in the usa everyone knows where they will be placed and legible.
When we finally made it home people were gathering so that we could cut into the cake for tylers birthday! We didn't have plates so people were kinda just eating it out of the cartoon it was a cute bonding moment :’).
Tumblr media
For dinner we went to a restaurant here in palermos “EL pinguino de palermo”.  I got a milanesa completa, and a side of puree de papa, and wait for it...and to drink i got orange juice. It was a 7.45/10. I've had better milanesa to be honest but it also wasn't the worst ive had.
Tumblr media
After dinner we just chilled and then I went to bed.
June 26
Honestly, the best thing to see when you are walking to school at 8:40 am in like forty-degree weather is a dog walker with so many cute dogs. He was really doing the damn thing. He is brave because although these dogs and a lot of the dogs they are well trained but i still wonder if something just set them off and they all go running in one direction he is flyiiiiiiin.
Tumblr media
After seeing the dogs before class you just know after class is going to be great. Our other professor who is also on this trip took us to an empanada place and i got 2 cebolla y queso, a carne one and a Pikachu one.  Cebolla and queso one had just a bit too much cheese for my liking. The carne one was like a 7.4/10 i feel like it was just good, nothing too crazy.
Tumblr media
Also a little tangent about argentine napkins... like what's up. You can't really call these things napkins i think it's deceiving.
Tumblr media
Anywaysss after lunch we got back on the subte and got off at plaza italia which is like two blocks from our resi, and walked to the Eva Peron Museum. The only thing to say is *Mind Blown*. If you like history stuff and museums then I highly recommend. She was so impactful on the Argentine history and it's insane how she started out as an actress and went to creating programs to uplift women and children is great. We can each have our own opinions on Peronismo but if this woman had people grieving for 15 days you have to agree that she did something.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
For dinner I went to this pay by the weight place and it was great. I got some noodles, fried rice, orange chicken and lettuce & cucumber and put some lime juice and salt over it.
Tumblr media
June 27
After school rachel and i went to the travel agency to try to book our trip we took the subte like three different times cause of GPS lol. But on the way we got some McDonalds and i got a “cajita feliz” (happy meal) and it was so cute. The yogurt it came with was so small and it was just great. I also got a toy :) ! Anyway we also stumbled on a cute boutique where rachel got a cute shirt and leather skirt. The owner also gave me some tips for my upcoming vacation with my mom and dad to patagonia at the end of the program. We went walking a couple blocks to the travel agency but they weren’t that much help and it was just no point in going but since we got micky d’s and advice it wasn't that bad.
Tumblr media
Here is some candy i got it's their version of laffy taffy but much softer, it's good!
Tumblr media
Our friends from the resi took us to this really cute garden we saw some ducks that got a little too close for comfort and they had these statues all over the park so it was really cool.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
For dinner we went to this burger place in Palermo “Burger Joint” i got “la Jamaica”. I'm not the biggest fan of burgers but it was so fricken good! It had bacon on it cheese lettuce and honey mustard and more. I got it with a side of fries and pesto-mayo. I was so happy with this meal and i was so mad I had to tap out it's a really big portion i think i definitely would have shared but it just tasted so good.
Tumblr media
June 28
After school Rachel and I got a tostada (bread with ham and cheese ) from the cafe right by our resi, “Banova” (okay it's actually an ice cream store but i didn't know that because ive never seen anyone get ice cream from there lol)
Tumblr media
We later went to cronico a bar in plaza serrano to watch the argentina - venezuela game (sorry bella lol). I don't know why i got just a salad but it wasn't even all that good. Again for my liking it had a bit too much cheese which I think was provolone so it was just a bit odd for me. I would give it a 7/10.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After the game, my friends and I walked to the bakery our resi and got some pastries. They were delicious. We also played some uno and lets just say it got pretty competitive.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After this I went straight to bed and got excited for our trip to Puerto Iguazu!
June 29
I had to get up at 6am because I hadn't packed for our trip and we had to be out the door by 7am. I somehow packed and got ready without being fully awake. We all piled into a bus and headed for the local airport (AEP). Let me tell you I was soooo excited to know that we'd be going to somewhere semi warm for the weekend. I was even able to pull out my bathing suit for a little but of tanning.
We got to the airport and got checked in and were ready to be on our plane around 8:30 and when we got to the airport we landed at about 10:30.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Once we landed we headed to our hotel St. George. We tried to check in but the rooms wouldn't be ready by 2pm so some of us went to a pay by the weight place by the hotel i got a piece of fish milanesa, mashed potatoes, gnocchi (i now know this is not for me), some yuca and broccoli. It was good not sure really how to describe it but you wouldn't be missing out if you didn't eat there...
Tumblr media
After we ate we walked on the main road and stopped to get some ice cream. This is really sweet but if you ever had Mogul candies it tastes just like it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was able to sit by the pool and was in love with the warmth.
Tumblr media
After we showered we walked to el hito de las 3 fronteras where argentina meets paraguay and brazil. I couldn't believe my eyes. I was so glad we also caught sunset because it just looked beautiful.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was starting to get hungry and knew it was going to be at least another 30 min until we got back to the hotel because we went walking, so i got some popcorn and if you know my grandma or me you know we love salt. This popcorn was heaven.
Tumblr media
So we still had another hour before dinner so we decided to stop by this mexican restaurant called “Tacopado”.  My friend Blue and I split a taco combo that came with one carne taco, one pollo taco, nachos and papas aztecas that had chimichurri and mayanose on it. Pretty delish. I was pretty satisfied for mexican food in argentina (that was prepared by argentinians).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After our “appetizers” we still had dinner at the hotel. I was not too hungry so i got a caesar salad. Eh it was good besides those four huge pieces of cheese on top. Rachel and I shared a brownie and ice cream with caramel. I loved the top of the brownie because it was a pool of caramel and that's the only part I really ate lol.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After this I went to bed because we had a long day ahead of us.
I know this post is a week late but I’ve been doing a lot of traveling so I did not have my laptop with me. Hope you enjoyed the post!
Con amor,
T.L.

What I want to see in the next Animal Crossing!
Okay, so ever since the talk of the switch I have been ever so hopeful of an Animal Crossing title for it, and not just a crappy spinoff, either. Especially after the release of the switch I feel like this is something very likely to happen, given the villager icons you can choose from on the switch profiles and other hints. Anyways, here are what I feel like would be some entertaining additions to the next Animal Crossing title. This is a looooong list so pls bear with me.
Way way WAYYYYYY more slots to hold patterns like in HHD, like I am so amazed HHD was the first AC title to have this.
The ability to place PWPs wherever they will fit, also like the placement used in HHD.
Get a notification from Isabelle when you start the game that informs you of a new villager wanting to move in, you can then choose the location of their house so it doesn’t interfere with paths or anything.
I think it would be really cool to be able to edit the layout of our town as an alternate option to filtering through random ones. Similar to the acnl editor, but in the initial startup of the game. Choosing where streams, ponds, beaches, buildings, etc. are instead of having to settle on one.
Be able to choose your native fruit.
Similar to HHD, you can unlock special items from encountering certain villagers and they can be placed in your catalogue. Like how some have the sloppy series, etc.
A bigger campsite, like the RV one that was introduced in Welcome Amiibo, but has tents as well as more RVs that are not just specials. Like, have 2 RVs there that rotate everyday, one being a special character and the other just a normal villager, and of course spaces available for use with amiibo cards.
MORE THAN 1 PWP A DAY. I get SO MAD having to time travel just because I want more than one streetlight in my town.
Also, NO MORE RANDOM PWPS!!!!!! I played for YEARS with only a couple of suggestions from my villagers, I never was even suggested the police station!!!!!!! If we have to unlock them based on time played or town status or pay bells to unlock them, sure, that’s cool, BUT NO MORE RELYING ON SUGGESTIONS!!!!
Shops have way more items available to purchase, and on top of a bigger in-store selection, I think it would be cool to have kind of like a revolving catalogue where you can order things (like maybe have whole series in there or something) that also changes everyday along with the store’s inventory.
LARGER MAIN STREET!!!! I thought the town in HHD was a really good size for a main street for the next AC title. Also, the ability to choose the exteriors of the buildings on main street like in HHD.
More specialization of the shops on main street. Like, instead of just having the typical ones we have had for AGES maybe introduce some new ones, like a pet store (more on this later) or a restaurant like what there is to choose from in HHD
Possibly link your HHD catalogue with the new AC title? That way you have items unlocked and it gives you a little head start on items you can choose from.
BE ABLE TO DESIGN PANTS!!!!! Maybe there is a reason this isn’t a thing yet that I am completely ignorant about, but I WANT TO DESIGN SOME DAMN PANTS!!!! There are hardly any to choose from in the game so I am blown away that this hasn’t become a feature yet in all of the AC titles. Also, being able to design shoes and socks would be cool, too. But if anything, pls just let us design some pants.
Ability to have pets!!! So we can have some uninvited cockroaches roaming around but lord forbid I have a cute lil kitten or puppy??? You have no idea how much I loved the little hamster cage, but it can only do so much. I think it would be neat to get rid of the cockroaches and be able to purchase animals from a pet store on main street that can roam around in one (or all) room(s) and if you leave the game unattended for a length of time, you would come back to PEE in your FLOOR and you would have to clean it instead of stomping on cockroaches.
Either pick from different sets or create your own set of beginning villagers with amiibo cards for when you start up a new town. More often than not, my villagers starting out are all uggos.
Be able to automatically access your bank account without having to go to an ABD. Like maybe we have a device similar to our TPC that acts kinda like a smartphone or something and we have an “app” for our bank that we can use.
This device could also let us talk to villagers like the HHD phone or order items or talk to other players online if we have their FCs.
Be able to choose the town hall and train station exteriors during the startup of the game instead of having to wait and get a perfect town rating in order to do so.
MORE CUTE FURNITURE SETS!!! Idk about you but I loved the sloppy series and alpine series and I wish there were more cute pale series to choose from, like maybe have a whole pastel series that goes with the pastel table introduced in HHD.
More expensive home expansions, but they also expand faster. This doesn’t have to be the replacement for the current situation, but just to have as an option I think would be cool.
Be able to design furniture with Cyrus not just remodel it. Like we could start with a base item, but redesign it using something similar to what we use to design clothes and patterns. AND we could create QR codes for these like we would be able to for outfits and stuff.
A “global store” where people could post items they don’t want anymore kind of like an online flea market that we could access by either going to Re-Tail or on the TPC device. People could also sell their designed items on here if they didn’t want to do QR codes.
Train Station allows you to travel to ANY town with gates open and accepting random visitors. Kind of like how club tortimer pairs you up with random people on the island, you could go to a random town. No FCs necessary and it would be a fun way to make more friends to play with in the future!
Also, with having people visit your town, you should be able to select the level of access they have to it. You should have a little menu while there are people visiting that shows  who all is in the town and also what level of access they have. This can be adjusted at any time and there would be about 3 levels:
Restricted: Can only WALK around and talk to villagers and observe the items in your town. (how each visitor would start out)
Intermediate: Can buy, pick up, do anything in your town, but a notification will pop up on your screen anytime they want to do something and you will have to approve their action.
Unrestricted: Can do anything (like how it is now) without needing approval.
When having visitors in your town, you can also see them on your town map in real time like you see yourself. Instead of little people icons, though, they should be like numbers based on who got there first, #1, and so on. I feel like they would make it easier to tell who is who. But who even knows if we will have a map like the one we’re used to with the switch. I feel like the Wii-U might have been better in the whole dual screen aspect of the game.
We can also choose to see villagers on the map in real time.
Have other parts of town that we can access. Like maybe there is a little hill that leads up to the neighborhood where all the “special” characters live and stuff like that.
Ability to work at more shops than just the cafe. Have the jobs be more like mini games though.
Ability to demolish or move home without destroying your town.
When selecting “give me something” from an amiibo villager, their catalogue should pop up so you can choose what item you want.
MORE SANRIO ITEMS!!!!!!! The sanrio sets are so dang cute I love them!!!! Either collab with sanrio some more or make some more items that going along with the cutesy themes they have! Or maybe some san-x related items, like bring in rilakkuma etc.
A music shop!!! I think KK should have his own little record store where he performs during the day and it closes at night when he goes to the club B)
GIVE CELESTE BACK HER OBSERVATORY!!!! I cannot STRESS this ENOUGH!!!!! Not only was it such a cool idea, I MISS MAKING INAPPROPRIATELY SHAPED CONSTELLATIONS!!!!
Able Sisters have a section in their shop for QR codes from all over the world via internet. If not connected, then it could just be empty or maybe you could only access it by talking to mabel or sabel or smth.
A Hotel!! This could be where people who are visiting your dream address start out, they could go to sleep there too and start a new day or something.
Possibly upload your HHD buildings to your town to replace the ones on main street.
This whole “smartphone”/TPC replacement thing:
Cell phone: call and talk to your own villagers and amiibo villagers
Email?: maybe. Could replace mailbox for letters only, not deliveries.
Initiatives can still be viewed on this
Timmy and Tommy “online” catalogue
Online Flea Market from players all over.
Bank Account: can access everything you’d be able to at an ABD
Music: could change background music to a KK song if one so chose
Can contract out Leif for a sum of bells to landscape your town. Select from some different colors, themes, flowers, if you are not very talented in the ways of landscaping.
Can get paths from Nook’s homes! It would be cool if Nintendo made some paths that actually matched up with the grass and stuff that you could purchase from Nook.
Where multiple face items like glasses, bandages, binkie so long as they don’t interfere with each others’ placements.
Be able to wear accessories over “makeup” I think our miis would look really cute with some of the accessories in the game!
Be able to hold more than one mii mask at a time.
Be able to start the game by choosing the villager’s appearance like in HHD, no more random appearances based on weird questions
Instead of just a couple exterior house choices, there should be more in a catalogue at Nook’s, but some are only available after you have upgraded your house x amount of times.
Furniture collections with more items. Rooms that are upgraded are really big and it kinda sucks when some series only have like 10 items in them.
Be able to see what an item is while it’s in our pockets!!!! I hate having to go home and display it in my home to see what it is and whether or not I want to keep it.
ALPACA VILLAGERS!!!!!!! So many of the special characters are so cute I wish we could have regular villagers that are that cute who are able to move into our town. Also walruses like wendell would be really cute.
Ability to access the time from within the game, maybe with like a special clock or something similar to the way we can have a fortunes told to us through the lovely phone, but only that phone.
Access to our storage room and regular inventory when we are in the “room editing” mode. It would save so much time if we didn't have to exit out of it every time we needed a new item.
More villagers in the town!!! Like maybe 14 or 15
Kick out unwanted villagers at the town hall and accept requests of certain ones wanting to move in. Like see which villager it is and either accept them and pick a spot for their house or deny them.
Able to change camera angle for more diverse screenshots like HHD
PLEASE BE HD LIKE THE COURSES IN MARIO KART PLEEEEEASSSSEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A town hall with a room that is able to be reserved for events that you can set up, like harvest festival dinners, toy day party, bday parties, etc. And with these events all the villagers have to show up. You can also decorate the room with items from your catalogue or choose from different pre-made themes.
So as you can see this list is long as heck. Feel free to add to it and let me know what you think,  I always love seeing ideas and talking about Animal Crossing with people!!!!!!!!!!

I live in between a lot of conventions, mostly about 2-6 hours away up and down for big big cons. I've been looking at some cons that aren't near me, and I was wondering if you guys think it's worth it to do conventions that are 10+ hours away and you have to go up a day either and/or buy a plane ticket? Sorry if this question has been asked before!!
Kiriska: As always, “worth it” depends on a lot of things, including your own preferences and priorities, and the specific convention in question.
Things to consider:
How much more will the extra travel add to your costs? In terms of money? (Gas, flight, luggage/shipped goods) In terms of time? (Days off work, compensation to yourself/ideal hourly wage, potential additional prep)
What convention is it you’re traveling to specifically? Do you think you, personally, would do well there? Is it of a genre you traditionally do well at? Have you done well at similar cons in the past? Based on what you know about the convention and your own work, do you think the amount of net revenue you make would be “worth it”? Or is there some other reason you want to go? A non-financial reason it might be “worth it”?
Are you, personally, comfortable traveling that distance? Would you be traveling alone? Can you manage all that luggage yourself? Would you have a helper? If so, are you compensating that helper (additional costs)?
Remember to take as many things into consideration as you can. Distance isn’t the only factor in determining whether a convention is “worth it.”
For me, personally, financial logistics (and all that things that go into that, including genre favourability) play the biggest factor in deciding which conventions to go to, not location.
There are actually quite a few local events that I’ll decline to go to in favour of events that are further away and more expensive to attend. For example, there’s a 2-day biannual flea market-like event here that I’ve previously done okay at. It doesn’t cost much to table and travel is negligible. But if it lands on the same day as a major, out-of-state anime con (my best genre) where I’ve previously done amazing at? You better believe I’m going to the out-of-state con even if it costs me a lot more to get there.
On the flip side: there’s a local 3-day con I’ve done pretty well at in the past. Last year, it landed on the same weekend as an out-of-state con in a similar genre that I’ve never been to, but which friends have raved and raved about and which I’ve heard nothing but good things about. I still opted for the local con because I felt it was safer and even though it was likely that I could, I wasn’t 100% confident that I’d make back the the additional costs of traveling out-of-state con in this case.
So! It all depends. :>
Nattosoup:  As with Kiri, it depends.  I’ll travel for indie comic cons (I basically have to, Nashville doesn’t have much), as well as for anime cons in my native state of Louisiana, but otherwise, my days of traveling for anime cons are just about over.  For me, traveling for potential job opportunities and to meet up with friends is worthwhile, but traveling just to work a weekend (and quite possibly not even break even) is just so tiring- I’ve spent years taking that gamble.
For cons up to 4 hours away:  Will drive.  I own a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta TDI, so plenty of trunk space, great gas milage.
For cons further than 4 hours away: Fly.  We pack the heavy stuff in our carryons and backpacks- books, mini comics, and the con set up stuff in our roller bags.  I have a separate set of wire grids at my mom’s place in Louisiana, for when I used to do Mechacon.  Buying a spare set of grids costs about as much as flying grids.
But your mileage will vary.  What’s worthwhile will depend.  You will have friends in different cities than I do, your con experiences will vary from mine.

How to appeal to insurance company?
My mom had Healthnet for her insurance provider in California. We started our move to Texas in Dec 2005. Mom made her payment in January. They still had their home in California, and it wasn't sold until February. So legally she was still a California resident. At the end of January she told them that she had moving to Texas. They refused her payment saying that she wouldn't be covered in Texas. In February she had emergency surgery. Healthnet paid everything. Then in October 2006 they denied all payments. Mom was supposed to have surgery on the hernia back in California but the doctor kept post poning it. Until finally he just said he wouldn't be able to perform the surgery. That was in January 2006, after she made her paid her insurance. My mom didn't know she had any rights, so she started paying on this $40,000.00 bill. I don't feel like she should be paying this. Low car insurance adjustment from liable company's adjuster?
Someone else hit my car while it was parked. It was very cut-and-dry. I got a police report, the officer talked to the driver. It states that my car was legally parked and the other driver is at fault. The damage is minor rear bumper damage, nothing too terrible. I filed with his insurance company, and after a lot of frustrating phone tag, an insurance adjuster came out and wrote me an estimate for $450. I had an adjustment for $734 from the local body shop for my make of car, and I showed it to him. I expressed my dissatisfaction with this estimate, and he said the body shop would settle with the insurance company directly for costs in excess of the estimate. $300 is a little much. Since it's minor damage, I think the body shop will probably take the money and do a shoddy job on the car. It's my understanding they are supposed to repair my car to pre-accident conditions. I got another estimate for $745 this weekend. I can't get it fixed for $450. What are my options? (cont'd)""

""In california, what auto insurance options are must haves?""
hey i was just checking out the auto insurance rates (i am from california) i know that bodily injury liabilty, property damage liabitiy, and uninsured motorist are must haves in californa... what else?? i was reading the definition of the auto insurance optional coverages and got a little confused, for example: Property Damage Liability - Mandatory Coverage This coverage protects you against financial loss when your vehicle damages another person's property, such as their vehicle, if you are legally liable. vs. Collision - Optional Coverage This coverage provides protection for loss or damage to your vehicle caused by upset or collision with another vehicle or object. It pays the lesser amount of either the actual value of your vehicle or the amount of each loss, in excess of your selected deductible. i was always under the impression that once you have property damage liability and your car got into an accident, it's covered. can someone with some auto insurance experiece explain this for me please? do you think it's good thing to get both? any advices is appreciated thank you""

Car insurance issues help wanted?
have a few issues I could really use some help with. The family car that I have been driving wasn't in my name but I was still covered on the insurance until one day I hit a mailbox with the passenger side mirror. The mailbox did not sustain any damage but the mirror somewhat did. I didn't call the police when it happened since the damage was extremely minimal. Anyways, then a couple weeks later a different family member (not the owner) had a little bit of a bigger accident when an animal suddenly appeared in front of the car forcing another accident. I have not had an accident in over 12 years but since I was mentioned after that second accident, I was also excluded from the insurance policy for that vehicle. The insurance cost is something like $158.00 per month but now they want the owner to add about $50 or $60 more per month EACH for the 2 people that were excluded because of the accidents. The car payment is about $415.00 per month and the insurance was $158.00 per month for just the owned which does not even drive the car at all but now they want an extra hundred per month for those 2 excluded drivers if they want to drive that car. Will this change if we switched insurance companies? And if I haven't had an accident in over 12 years, would it be possible to appeal that? Thanks in advance""

Pixel smartphone upgrade highlights Google push into hardware
SAN FRANCISCO, US: Google last week unveiled new versions of its Pixel best smartphone store in california, the highlight of a refreshed line aimed at weaving artificial intelligence deeper into modern lives.
Google software and artificial intelligence were common threads in the gamut of new devices it unveiled to step up its challenge on the hardware front to rivals such as Apple and Amazon
The new Pixel 2 and larger Pixel 2 XL are the first Google-made phones to be released since the California tech giant announced the acquisition of key segments of Taiwan-based electronics group HTC.
The upgraded smartphones will be available for order as of Wednesday in six countries starting at $649 for five-inch display Pixel 2, and $849 for the six-inch Pixel 2 XL.
The new aluminium-body smartphones along with Google's upgraded connected speakers and new laptop computer all aim to infuse artificial intelligence to make the devices more user-friendly, built around the Google Assistant - the rival to Amazon's Alexa, Microsoft's Cortana and others.
Google vice president Rick Osterloh said Google's new devices "are simple to use and they anticipate your needs."
Osterloh told the product launch event in San Francisco: "You interact with your devices naturally with your voice or by touching them."

New Google earbuds offer real-time translation feature
SAN FRANCISCO, US: Google on Wednesday introduced new Pixel earbuds that the company says are capable of real-time translation of conversations in different languages...
Google, by bringing in a team of engineers from HTC, aims to emulate the success of Apple iPhones by controlling the hardware as well as the software used in the premium-priced handsets.
The revamped camera in the smartphone retains a single lens but seeks to improve images via "computational photography," an artificial intelligence tool that can enhance pictures.
Analyst Ian Fogg of IHS Markit said in a tweet that the new smartphone "adds incremental improvements on the great v1" while noting that "Google's challenge is to solve production limits which hurt the original."
Fogg said the use of computation to improve images with a single lens "is technically impressive."
Google announced a slimmed down version of its connected speaker called Google Home Mini starting at $49 in the United States, stepping up its challenge to market leader Amazon.
The new Google Home Mini is available for pre-order in the seven countries where the device is offered and will go on sale in stores October 19, the company said.

The new speaker, which responds to voice commands using artificial intelligence, is less than half the price of Google's first generation speaker and makes this "more accessible to more people," said Google hardware designer Isabelle Olsson.
A premium version of the speaker - a $399 Google Home Max unveiled Wednesday - offers more power and audio quality for music aficionados.
The new Google Clips camera - one of the surprises of the event - "looks for smiles (and) moments, because the software is in the camera," said Google product manager Juston Payne.
"It's like having my own photographer shooting and choosing my best moments for me," Payne said of the $249 device.
Another surprise from the event was the wireless Pixel Buds, which can deliver audio from a smartphone and also include the Google Assistant and real-time translation.
A demonstration at the event included a two-way conversation with one person speaking English and the other Swedish.
"The camera and the earbuds were really held up as examples of what the company can do by leveraging the Google Assistant," said Ross Rubin of Reticle Research.
A new Pixelbook laptop was touted as a "high performance" computer powered by its Chrome operating system and designed as a rival to Microsoft's Surface and Apple's iPad Pro.
With a 12.3-inch display, the device is a convertible PC that can be used as a tablet and is sold starting at $999 for US customers.

Amazon beefs up Echo lineup and Alexa skills
SAN FRANCISCO, US: Amazon has unveiled upgrades to its Echo speakers and announced that Alexa smarts will be built into BMW and Mini automobiles by the middle of next year...
28 Sep 2017
Google chief executive Sundar Pichai said the new devices showcase the tech giant's artificial intelligence.
"We've been working hard continuing our shift from a mobile-first to an AI-first world," he said.
"We are working on software and hardware together because that is the best way to drive computing forward."
The launch comes in the wake of Apple's announcement of a new line of iPhones, and Amazon's upgrades to its Echo speakers powered by its Alexa digital assistant
"It is a portfolio designed to take Google into more parts of your life, particularly in your home," Reticle Research analyst Ross Rubin said of the array of devices the internet giant unveiled on Wednesday.
"Amazon is focusing on a range of price points and designs; Google is focusing on a range of experiences."

'California Typewriter' Is A Love Letter To The Outdated
The documentary California Typewriter is a love letter to the outdated — be it typewriters, thank you notes, mom and pop repair shops, or creativity that doesn't start with turning on a computer first.
Director Doug Nichol centers the film on an African-American owned shop in Berkeley called California Typewriter. Owner Herbert L. Permillion III, who worked for IBM for 20 years, opened the store in 1981 and has kept it running, with the help of his two daughters and repairman Ken Alexander, through the rise of home computers, smart phones, and tablets. After all, if turntables and vinyl can make a comeback, why not typewriters?
Several typewriter enthusiasts are also interviewed, though (maddeningly) none of them are identified in any way until the end credits. You'll likely recognize Tom Hanks, a collector with about 250 typewriters, who espouses the virtue of a typewritten "Thank You" note versus an email, something he'll routinely delete as quickly as the "seven seconds" it took to write and send. "Take 70 seconds to type me out something on a piece of paper and send it to me, well, I'll keep that forever," he says.
John Mayer, who never had to make the transition from typewriter to computer as he's not even 40, makes salient points about the built-in obsolescence of computers, and how all the material housed on all of our old hard drives is basically sitting in glorified garbage cans. Unless you printed that stuff out, it's as good as gone forever. So he bought probably one of the last new electric typewriters, and has taken to writing song lyrics with it, noting that there's nothing impeding his creative process — no spellcheck or blinking icon of distraction.
Writers Sam Shepard and David McCullough, neither of whom ever made the transition to tech, also talk about the typewriter's contribution to the writing process, with McCullough noting that without the visual proof of revisions, corrections, and changes, we're losing a valuable look into the thought processes of our creative thinkers and politicians. Shepard notes the tactile satisfaction of feeding paper into the typewriter and hearing and feeling those words slap onto the page.
We also meet a collector from Toronto who travels to San Francisco in hopes of purchasing one of the first typewriters made, based on original inventor Christopher Latham Sholes's design, and Oakland sculptor Jeremy Mayer, who uses typewriter parts — and ONLY typewriter parts — to craft figurative sculptures that include animal and human forms. To some, his work may seem blasphemous, but it's nice to see the symbiotic relationship he has with the California Typewriter shop. They give him the typewriters that are beyond redemption, and Mayer often ends up having a rare part the shop might need for a repair.
It's the scenes in that shop that are the film's most enjoyable. I wanted more of them. A tighter film could have been made with fewer segments on the enthusiasts and users (the Boston Typewriter Orchestra and Poetry Store poet Silvi Alcivar also make appearances) and more scenes showing the genuine love Permillion and Alexander have for their shop and their typewriters. It's infectious, and even a little thrilling watching their ingenious solutions to repairing items that have no replacement parts because, well, there are no replacement parts to be found.
When I was a kid, I had an old Smith Corona typewriter that weighed about 20 pounds, had an old ribbon that had been reused so many times it no longer typed in black but in muted grey, and whose keys had a tendency to stick together in certain combinations. But I loved typing on that thing. Sometimes I would type my own stuff, and sometimes I would just copy passages out of books, just because I liked typing; it made me feel smart.
Eventually I got an electric typewriter (a Panasonic) and I clung to that way into college. My friends had moved on to word processors and laptops (that also seemed to weigh about 20 pounds) by then, but I was convinced I wouldn't be able to write anything if the process didn't involve a first draft that was pen on paper, and a final draft that was typewritten. I'm not certain, but I think it was seeing how easy it was to edit something — removing and rearranging paragraphs and thoughts on the page — that eventually pushed me over to the dark side, and eventually I became convinced I couldn't write anything unless it was via computer.
But whenever I see a typewriter out in the wild — at a friend's, or a flea market — I can't resist going over and typing "the quick brown fox jumped over the lazy hound dog" on it. I just love to hear the clack of the keys, and feel the reverberation of those letters hitting that paper. California Typewriter understands that love.
California Typewriter is currently playing at the Opera Plaza Cinema in San Francisco, and the Shattuck Cinema in Berkeley.
Google ditched Gear S4 and Apple Watch rivals from Google Store (and no one even noticed)
GETTY • GOOGLE
Google Store underwent a redesign after the launch of the Pixel 2 – and no longer includes wearables
Google unveiled a slew of new devices during its annual hardware event last night.
The California-based company took the wraps off its new Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones, wireless Pixel Bud headphones, as well as a £999 ChromeOS notebook, dubbed PixelBook.
However, one device category was noticeably absent from the announcements on-stage – Android Wear.
Worse still, Google appears to have removed all mention of Android Wear smartwatches from its Google Store, which received a fresh coat of paint following the new hardware announcements.
It’s still possible to access the Android Wear section of the online store via a direct link.
However, Google does not list any models currently available to buy.
The LG Watch Style and LG Watch Sport are both appear on the landing page, however, both are listed as “No Longer Available”.
GOOGLE
Android Wear smartwatches designed by LG are currently listed as No Longer Available
It’s unclear what has lead to this decision – it could simply be that Google wants to focus on its own branded hardware in the Google Store.
But it could also be an indication of low sales figures for Android Wear devices.
Earlier rumours hinted Google might be preparing its own Pixel-branded wearable to launch alongside a new version of its Android Wear operating system.
However, these did not materialise on-stage.

Skagit County Garage Sale
I’ve been looking in papers and online to see if this part of Washington has the equivalent of the flea markets I like to visit in South Carolina. So far I’ve struck out. I know they are called “swap meets” on this side of the continent, but I still haven’t found a permanent market like the Anderson Jockey Lot or the Pickens Flea Market. Today I got pretty close. Laura and I visited the annual “World’s Greatest Garage Sale” at the Skagit County Fairgrounds.
The “World’s Greatest Garage Sale” is held twice a year in the fall and spring. It spans two days, Friday and Saturday. I asked Duff which day would be best, and his response was that, like any good yard sale, the best stuff is at the beginning of the sale. Friday morning I got a few chores done around the house and planned to head over soon after its opening. Laura decided she wanted to come along, too, and I’m very glad she did, for reasons I’ll explain later.
We drove through downtown Mount Vernon until we reached the Skagit County Fairgrounds. Last time we were here was a couple of years ago with Duff and Linda for the Skagit County Fair, held in mid-August. After stumbling around a bit we found parking and paid our entrance fee, another difference between this and southern flea markets.
There were a few booths and vendors set up outside, but most were set up in the fairground buildings. This made for an odd configuration. The Skagit Fair is an old-fashioned agricultural fair. The buildings have stalls and cages for animals, so the vendors had to setup in front of and around the stuff that was already there.
As for the the vendors, it had more of a flea market feel than garage sale, as advertised. In our home area there are a few casual sellers, but most seem to have permanent, or at least regular booths and are set up week after week in the same spot. I got that same feeling from the vendors here. They struck me as regular sellers rather than someone hoping to make some cash off of stuff in their garage.
Laura and I walked through all of the buildings looking at the wares. She said that this flea market didn’t make her uncomfortable like the Anderson Jockey Lot does. It did seem quite a bit more wholesome. There wasn’t the undercurrent of near illegality that seems to run through the Jockey Lot, nor was there the overwhelming displays of extremism – Confederacy, right-wing politics, and weird religious crap. I only saw one very subtle display of politics. Most of these just seemed to be antique dealers taking advantage of the venue.
There were a few food vendors set up around a stage area. One long guitarist was butchering a few songs on stage. As we walked through the food vendors the aromas tempted us, but we stayed on our course. There was one vendor advertising “Hawaiian BBQ” and I had to remind myself that in the west “barbecue” is a verb, not a noun. It’s a way of cooking, rather than a cuisine unto itself. (I guess the exception is to reference a grill as a “barbecue.”) That’s one more southern delicacy I’ll probably not find in abundance up here.
The most impressive building on the grounds was the central pavilion. We entered through the side and passed into a large space with bleachers along the sides. Although shaped like a large barn, the building felt more like a cathedral with its tall open spaces. Vendors were set up along aisle in the spaces inside.
While the items for sale were interesting, for the most part nothing reached out to us saying “buy me.” Part of this was that we had a whole house full of items as part of the estate with which to deal. We’re trying to get rid of stuff. We don’t need anything else, antique or otherwise.
There was one exception. Any vendor that had anything music-related caught my eye. The scary thing was that Laura was actually encouraging and helping me. She spotted a clarinet in a case and pointed it out to me. I had to tell her that I’d never really developed an interest in reed instruments. Guitars and accessories such as amps were another matter. We stopped and looked at several. I even looked at a few old violins similar to the one we found in her mom’s house. Not that I wanted to buy another one, but I wanted to get a feel for the value.
We were in our last building, and in the very back of that we found a guy selling lots of guitars and amplifiers.
I met the proprietor, Kelly, and he showed me some nice acoustic guitars. When I had mentioned the “Baby Taylor” and “Mini Martin” guitars to Laura after Wednesday’s guitar session, she took an interest in these smaller guitars as a back-up for my big Martin. She seemed more interested in the smaller folk guitars that Kelly was showing us. I picked up a nice Alvarez guitar very much like the first guitar I ever bought. It had a great tone and excellent action. Kelly started playing some E-minor blues. I picked up another guitar and joined him. We had a full-blown jam session going, and other vendors and visitors were enjoying it.
I chatted with Kelly a bit. He had played in bands a long time ago and most of these guitars and amps were from his personal collection. He also had an old Korg DW6000 and a Yamaha RX drum machine, both of which I own. We had lots in common and seemed to hit it off. As for the Alvarez guitar, Laura said that it had “stories to tell” and told me to buy it. So after haggling with Kelly a bit and getting a case thrown in, I did just that.
Had I been by myself I probably would have just jammed with Kelly and kept going without buying anything. Now I’m very glad Laura was there. I playing most of the afternoon and evening when I got home. The scary thing is that it plays better than my big expensive Martin guitar. And for the curious, the Alvarez is an RF010 Regent Folk model, with mahogany back and sides and a spruce top, probably made sometime around 2009. The case isn’t a great fit, and I may replace it with a padded gig bag at some point, but it will do for now.
Having made a big purchase we left the fairgrounds and headed downtown to look for lunch. I’d used all the cash I had on me for the guitar, so we needed some place inexpensive(ish). We’ve been looking for a non-fast food place to get a good burger at a reasonable price. While we’ve found some good burgers, most will set you back $15. Dining out has been expensive up here. We found a place called the Lunchbox Diner in town. They have a special on Fridays – $6 for a burger and fries. I think we found our place.
Oddly enough, we didn’t order the special. We’d had burgers for lunch the day before, so we filed that bit of information away for our next visit. Instead, Laura got a BLT and I got a Reuben. I think I’d been suffering from sauerkraut deficiency since coming up here.
But our day wasn’t done…
While we were in town we had to run by the grocery store to get anything we might have on our list. This time we also got the makings for a pizza for dinner, so no place will deliver out to the island. But what Laura really wanted while we were in town was pumpkins. There had long been a tradition of putting small pumpkins on the fence posts at the house. One of my first Flickr photos was have just such a thing, taken with an early Nikon S1 point and shoot back in 2005.
Amy had given us strict instructions that we had to put pumpkins on the fence posts this year. Laura found the address for Schuh Farms, so we set off in that directions.
Schuh Farms, just west of Mount Vernon, had fields of pumpkins. Their retail venue had just about any size, shape, and color of pumpkin imaginable.
They also had a large selection of gourds, also in a wide variety of shapes and colors.
They had a smaller selection of vegetables. These were mostly root vegetables, including “ugly” carrots, potatoes, onions, and garlic. They also had the largest cabbage heads I think I’ve ever seen.
Laura bought enough small pumpkins for the fence posts, plus a selection of gourds for decorations. We added one small loaf of pumpkin bread, and were still able to escape for under $15.
The pumpkins went on the fence as soon as we got home. We made our pizza, watched a movie, and enjoyed another spectacular sunset on the island. It was a good day.

Traces of British in Java: Historical Tour with Kompas (Day 1)
Last Monday morning, I rushed my way to the airport despite my 3-hour sleep to gather with the Kompas Historical Tour Jejak Inggris Di Jawa (read more about it here). Mas Patricius Cahanar and Mbak Rica from the Kompas Book Publisher (PBK) welcomed me at 8.10 a.m. when I arrived, managed everything for me already. Apparently I came the last, and they introduced me to six other participants, including Mr. Peter Carey and Mr. Witdarmono whom I already knew before. Unfortunately Mr. Jean Rocher, the other speaker, couldn't join us due to his health problem.
Mr. Patricius (PBK), Mba Yuka (PBK), Mas Yudhi (Museum Nasional), Mba Risa (Historia Magazine), Bu Ratna, Mr. Peter Carey, me, Mr. Witdarmono, Mba Rica (PBK), and Mas Satrio (Litbang Kompas)
We departed from Jakarta at 9.35 a.m. and arrived in Semarang around 11 a.m. Mas Richard from PBK picked us up with a medium-sized bus and we were dropped at Semarang Restaurant in Jl. Gajah Mada.

check out the old-school cashier counter! so vintage!
The owner, Mr. Jongkie Tio, greeted us and made us a mini-tour in his restaurant that is full of the city's memorabilia. The restaurant was built in the 1990s and apparently it's famous for its great food, friendly owner and his hobby of telling stories.

Lumpia Semarang
Mr. Patricius opened the program with a brief speech, followed with Mr. Carey, Mr. Iwan Ong Santosa (the other speaker), and Mr. Jongkie. The latter told us the histories and legends of each food that he served us that day, which was all new to me.
Es Rujak
Nasi Langgi
iced fruits
While they were talking, we had lumpia Semarang and es rujak (iced spicy fruit salad) for appetizer. The main course was Nasi Langgi, and the dessert was iced cut fruits. But I won't tell the stories that came with these dishes so you can ask Mr. Jongkie yourself when you meet him one day.
Wisma Perdamaian
Mr. Carey, Mas Richard (PBK), Mas Iwan, the MC, and Mbak Mungi (PBK)

Our group expanded as the participants from Semarang joined us. The tour followed the journey of British troop when they came in 1811 as written in Mr. Carey's book Inggris Di Jawa, so it's a pilgrimage tour went first to Wisma Perdamaian at Jl. Imam Bonjol.
After that we went to the old Tanjung Mas Harbour to see the Willem III Lighthouse. The road was overflowed with sea water and ships were anchored along the way. It reminded me a lot of Sunda Kelapa Harbour in Jakarta.

Indonesian House of Representative's ex-chief, Mr. Akbar Tandjung and his wife Mrs. Nina Tandjung, joined our group from here. We couldn't climb up the lighthouse because of the seawater flooded the first floor. So we carried on to the next spot.
The man on batik is Mr. Akbar Tanjung. His wife, Mrs. Nina, is the lady with straw hat next to him.
the overflowed road we must go through
And it was the Gereja Blenduk at Kota Lama area. It is a complex of art deco buildings left by the Dutch colonials. The Protestant church was built in 1753 and most of its interior is beautifully preserved. The original baroque orgel, however, is no longer used because no one can play it. Too bad, huh?

We then crossed the Sri Gunting Park to get to Spiegel Bar & Bistro, which instantly became my fave café ever. It really feels like Europe in there. And they serve great coffee, too! Just what we needed after touring in the sun.
A student had her boyfriend photographed her with the vintage bike prop. People donate to get pictures here.
This is a kind of flea market. Looks fun, right?
These 'shops' sell antique stuff. It was good that I didn't have time to explore this. I'd shop otherwise!

If this is located around my house, I'd come at least once a week here! 3>
Mr. Carey was explaining stuff, but I was busy snacking and having my glorious coffee time
We carried on by 4 p.m. and headed to South, passing Candi area (the highlands) where luxurious houses bordering the street. We arrived at Jatingaleh just on time for sunset. It was splendid and I was glad we had sunset. It's been a while since my last 'amazing sunset' -- LOL.
Wherever I go to (the well-preserved) Southeast Asia's China Towns, I get happy
This area is too Instagrammable!
Another building I like.. I'm not sure if it's still occupied, tho..
Four Doric added columns to the art deco church. Well..
the 'canopied' road we took to get to Candi area
On the way, we had a quick stop to pick up Margie, another PBK writer who became my roommate in this trip. I won't tell you what's so special about Jatingaleh so you can grab the book and read by yourself (or take the next Kompas Historical Tour), but I'll show you the magnificent view from up there.
Me and Margie in the front line. Mr. Akbar Tanjung is behind us, walking between Mas Yudhi and Mr. Carey.
After Jatingaleh, we visited Srondol and then checked in at Santika Hotel. Some of us wanted to take shower, so the rest of the group waited at Semarang Restaurant. Margie and I was in the latter group. We had a little shopping at the boutique while waiting for dinner time.
You may see this restaurant as a vintage one, but it worth visiting for the food and good talk with the friendly owner!

The outdoor dining area at the backyard
We were served croquette for appetizer and lontong cap gomeh for main course. For dessert, Mr. Jongkie served us wedang ronde. Just like our lunch, each of these dishes tells its own story, but I'll let Mr. Jongkie explains it to you when you visit his restaurant (;
The creamy & cheesy croquette
Lontong Cap Gomeh
Some students from Universitas Diponegoro came, and the night discussion began. It was overall about Semarang's history, from different angles. Mr. Iwan Ong started by telling us the military background that you could read from Mr. Rocher's book Perang Napoléon di Jawa 1811. Mr. Jongkie Tio carried on, telling us about the fascinating stories about the city.
The speakers of Semarang
Then a guest speaker, Mr. Singgih Tri Sulistiyono, continued by singing to us the pupuh (Javanese poetry) from Pangeran Panular's Babad Bedhah Ing Ngayogyakarta (which you could read the full version in Mr. Carey's book Inggris Di Jawa.) It was the first time I ever hear a pupuh being sung, and I think it was hypnotizing in a beautiful way.
Mas Iwan, Mr. Carey, Mr. Jongkie, Mr. Singgih, Mr. Patricius
Mr. Carey closed the discussion by playing us a documentary film by Dr. Farish Noor. As the first day's program ended, Margie and I asked for a photo with Mr. Jongkie, and it made us each given his very own book Semarang City: A Glance Into The Past (price Rp 300,000.) If you want to purchase it, just come to Semarang Restaurant -- don't forget to ask to meet the owner and he'll tell you anything you want to know about the city!
Mr. Jongkie's books are sold only in Semarang Restaurant -- or via online.
me and Mr. Jongkie
Mr. Jongkie signed a book for me! (;
We finally went to our room at Santika Hotel, but couldn't do too much as we had so little time. The room was nice, despite looking a bit old. But the shower was all renovated. I had a great 5-hour sleep that night. Not bad actually, to be compared to my last trip's 3-hour.
Just in case you're wondering, this is the PBK's standard for hotel
And the bathroom is really nice, right?

A Little Game Hunting Update
Thought I would give an official game hunting update, as I am always on the hunt. But I realized so far we have had three posts and the only pickup was the one that made me realize not to use eBay anymore. Don’t want you guys to think I’m not doing anything for game hunting. Heh. So here’s what I’ve been doing to try and find games. It has been pretty dry overall so far this month for Game hunting. Not at all unlike the Sahara. As exhibited by the fact that I put no finds at all in either post since my eBay purchase of New Super Mario Bros. Wii.
I went to a flea market a couple of weeks ago and found nothing but PS2 shovel-ware, a few Xbox One sports titles, and maybe one Wii Fit copy. One guy had a bag of cables and controllers at his table. This one is a bit of a regret for me, I found it at the end of the hunt, and I was pressed for time a bit. It had what looked to be some PS1 cables in it, as well as a PS1 1st party controller, a PS1 3rd party, and a 1st party SNES controller. The guy had his back to me working with some other people, I waited a little bit, and a little bit more, and then decided not to worry about it as it was just controllers. I do regret not waiting a bit more, or maybe just getting in his face and asking what he wanted for the bag because if I could have gotten it for like $2 or $3 it would have been worth the grab. The SNES controller was the one with the embossed Nintendo logo on the front, at the time I thought it might be counterfeit or something, adding to my decision not to buy it, but researched it after leaving and realized it was the model that came with the SNES Mini. Oh well. Not a major loss. Now I know.
Since then it has been awful, that bag of controllers was at least was something I may have bought. I have hit at least 5 different Goodwill stores for a total of at least 15 visits, mostly to the one closest to my house. Found nothing but PS2 sports shovel-ware, and the occasional terrible XBox or XBox One title. Everything that was there sells for $3 to $5 shipped on eBay. Not worth grabbing for $2.99, zero profit margin. I’m nearly convinced that everything worth more than about $5 is placed on shopgoodwill.com, leaving nothing but garbage in the store for patrons. But I continually see people on YouTube catching stuff at Goodwill. So I will keep trying. Though there may be different rules for different stores. I don’t know. If someone knows this please share. Tweet me @oldnintendoner1, or post a comment here.
Speaking of Xbox and PS1, another bit of info, my collection will always be Nintendo, anything I get outside of that will pretty much be flipped for more hunting cash. I am only interested in collecting for Nintendo, NES through the Wii consoles, Game Boy, Game Boy Color and GB Advance handhelds. Even DS handhelds and games will likely be flipped. Wii U is uninteresting at the moment. Though I will not hesitate to pick something up that I know is a really good deal for Wii U. Wii U is in a strange state right now, I have a feeling in the next decade it may become more collectible than the GameCube is now. Gamecube sold 21 million units worldwide, Wii U sold 13 million. There could be something there. So I won’t not purchase some Wii U if i know it is a great deal.
Moving on.
I hit a Volunteers of America and a Salvation Army as well, a few times each. Found one Gamecube game at the VoA, it was a Harry Potter title, I forget which, priced at like $8.98, the title was $5 shipped on eBay when I checked at the time. Same with a copy of GUN for XBox One at the same store, $8.98 and priced at like $8 on eBay. Salvation Army had a copy of GameCube’s NFL Blitz 2005, again, another shovel-ware title. Left it there priced at $4.99, it has been there for 3 weeks, it isn’t going to sell. If it was $1.99 I may have gotten it if for nothing else, the case. Always good to have extra GameCube cases around if you get a good game with a bad case. But for $5, not worth it.
Yard sales have been dry, but the season is just getting started so I’m still hopeful. Stopped at a few the last couple weekends, and got to three this weekend. There was nothing out at one so I asked one guy if he had any old games and he said he had a PS2 with like 30 games... “somewhere”. Great. Somewhere. I was thinking if he can find it and I can get it for between $20 and $30 it might be worth a flip. Yeah, he couldn’t find it. At another sale, a couple, when asked, said they used to have “one of those nintendo systems”, but they sold it last year. Another swing and a miss. So, a little discouraged so far, but not giving up. Like I said, the season is just getting started, there should be some neighborhood sales coming up in May, I know ours is then, so, who knows.
I’ve been combing LetGo and OfferUp as well. Lots and lots of people wanting eBay fantasy prices for dirty, untested NESs, Super Nintendos, N64s, and Wiis. For example:
Tumblr media
A blurry, single photo of an N64 on a dirty carpet, no AV cables, no controller... SIXTY ONE FIFTY? No description either, nothing. What are they thinking? There are a few nice clean ones scattered throughout and those are even more expensive. It’s like, if it’s a clean console, throw in two decent games and two controllers and you are now way over $100. Probably $130 to $150 easy.
Why would I ever buy this from you when on eBay I can get something like this shipped directly to my house! Recently ended eBay listing of similar caliber:
Tumblr media
Nice, high res picture, very clean looking N64. There were other photos as well it just doesn’t show in the screen grab. $30, plus $20 shipping. So $50 shipped, and you get the AV cables, and a semi decent controller, and don’t have to leave your house to meet a stranger. This is still more then I would want to pay for an N64, I would hope to run across one tossed in a box at a garage sale with games, controllers and cables and have them want $20 for the whole box. That’s what I’m looking for, those types of deals. “Get-it-out-of-my-house” prices. I know, high hopes.
I am convinced people do zero research when selling items. They just see something somewhere about old video games being valuable, or get some second hand information through friends or something and just toss stuff out there for insane prices. Then when you offer them something thats even reasonable, they get mad, block you, or ignore you. Its like ok, just keep it forever then I guess.
This is looking to be a really tall order here guys, I’m not going to give up. But boy is it looking bleak for the first month or so, at least for me and the places I have been at the times I have been there. So, I realize a lot of this comes down to luck as well. Wish me luck.
Nothing more spent, total stays $83.09.
