Oh gawd yes. J*nsa, of course. Obviously I never shipped it but I would have been perfectly fine with others doing so if they hadn’t been such insufferable bullies about it. I’ve also found myself wary of J*nerys—could not care less about either character but I see soooo much Sansa hate among that fandom that I immediately wince at the site of it, even though those guys should automatically be SanSan allies (enemy of my enemy, etc.).

6. Has fandom ever made you enjoy a pairing you previously hated?

Nah. I think if a pairing turns me off from the get, there’s little that can persuade me it has any merit unless it’s in the text itself.

when I got into fandom also given what numbers were on ao3 one ship was popular and it was sansan. no like sansan was lit. the only asoiaf ship on ao3 with more than 200 fics. jb had twenty when i checked first. jc had like around 100-ish because of the show but sansan dwarfed anything. I posted the first jon/ygritte fic on the ao3 tag and the fourth throbb fic and like the others were all reposts from lj kinkmemes. nothing was popular before the show except for sansan when it comes to huge numbers bc grrm doesn't like fic and it was all hush hush until the show made it impossible to control and that ship was the one with a huge enough fanbase it actually had numbers, so like... j*nsa wasn't popular in the way nothing else was popular until it got screentime on the show

now, that stated, j*nsa had a... fair amount of fic for a rareship which was mostly book-based and from og shippers that were there from before the show and liked it for what it was but literally none of them thought it was gonna be canon, like it wasn't huge or anything but it had a small but dedicated fanbase who did their own thing and thought it was fun/liked the idea but that was it

that fandom had their own niche of hcs that they cultivated and shit except that like... at the end of S5/beginning of S6 there was a surge in shipping for... well obvious reasons bc it was obv sansa was getting to the wall and that would have been all nice and good but a) it was the time puritanical shipping was starting to take root and the 'shipping sansa with sandor or tyrion is hella problematic' rhetoric had started to circle coming from sans*ery shippers mostly but I'mma not open that fucking can of worms here, b) while the ending of S5 had more of a theon/sansa spike, the j*nsa stuff started getting big

now here we have to mention my villain origin story ie: j*nsa fandom had this one stan whose name I won't make because honestly it's been years and if she's still around I don't want her to remember I exist who was a bnf, wrote for... the website that created the whole larry/carol thing etc who was really fixed on this thing that j*nsa was actually canon and started writing extremely popular meta about it. now you're gonna ask how do you know, I know because this person once wrote a meta named 'why robb stark is a dick' and I told her that it was really fucking bad meta and she took it so badly she kept on trash talking me on her blog/her podcast (I was apparently the insane robb stark fangirl l m a o good lord) and like that was when some sane ppl who argued with her informed me in pvt that she was basically harping on the CANON thing when they'd have been okay with like... it being crackshipping and that she was basically cultivating a hoarde of followers who were harping on them/the ogs and basically ostracizing them;

I would like to add that this person - before her tumblr got 'accidentally deleted' and remade it therefore deleted most receipts for, er, her so-called meta which included stuff like ned and cat raised sansa as a sexual object and only wanted to sell her like cattle - had at some point started a round robin fic thing where... some of the characters mocked openly said stuff that some of the og fans had said specifically targeting them and people in that side basically went harassing anyone who didn't agree with that specific notion

now never mind that this person basically coined an entire term to describe ppl who liked white guys and excused all their wrongdoings out of my conversation re robb basically lying about everything I said as if I didn't have the receipts and tried to sell shirts with it and it didn't work and like then she got kicked out of her own website because she was telling her commenters disagreeing pretty shitty insults (considering I was called psychotic for disagreeing with her that time I don't doubt it) I think at some point she stepped back from fandom bc idk wtf she's up to these days and I don't want to, but basically at that point the dam was broken and there was a bunch of puritanical shippers harping on anyone who didn't agree with j*nsa is canon endgame stuff

this also includes an incident when those ppl were like... passing themselves as throbb shippers and ended up trying to tell t*hramsay shippers off the theon tag based on moral reasons and I ended up arguing with all of them (and they were all from that crowd) which in turn landed me in contact with other og j*nsa shippers who were like detached from that fandom bc those same people harassed them away as well ssooooo fun

anyway when S6 happened everyone was high on it and whatnot but I wasn't gonna begrudge them that I mean... you shipped it for years, canon is delivering you, good for you, but then j*nerys happened

I honestly believe JB have more of a chance at a happy ending together than A*ya/Gend*y or S*nSa* since the former reads as a first love than than a life-long love while the latter is creepy to me. And to be honest, George not doing the time skip probably killed these ships happening in canon and not just as a note in an epilogue.

At this point, I feel the ships that have the most chance at being canon (and possibly a happy ending) are JB, Asha/Whichever Boy Toy She Choose Though I Think She Should Choose Alysane Mormont, Theon/Jeyne Poole, Arianne/Daemon Sand, Edmure/Roslin, J*n Sn*w/D*ny (:/, you did a whole incest is bad thing George, why backtrack here) and either Arianne/fAegon or Elia Sand/fAegon (Aegon super doomed though). I’ve heard arguments about Tyrion/Penny so I’m interesting in seeing where that’s going.

I would like to see Loras find a second love because I think he deserves to be happy and not devote his life to a celibate service that will force him into ethically comprising positions.

Let me lead off with: thank you for this ask! It’s been really interesting to think about. It’s been sitting in my box for a few days because every time I think about it, my mind kind of skitters away from how to respond and I realized this morning it’s because I think that in a lot of ways George doesn’t care about shipping in terms of the romance being the point beyond how it affects his larger plot. Yes, even Jaime/Brienne. I know that’s not a popular opinion in this fandom, but my sense of the books (YMMV, IMO, etc. etc.) is that he is writing to the plot and the relationships drive parts of that plot but they are stepping stones to get everyone where he wants them. I think Jaime and Brienne’s relationship is important to him because of the changes it causes for each character, but then I also think he’s taking that next step to use those changes to further drive plot. This isn’t a criticism of George’s writing on this front, btw, just that I don’t think George thinks about the time skip or how he’s going to shape things in terms of “is this going to get JB together towards a happy ending” so much as “is this going to get Jaime and Brienne to where I need them to be to accomplish the things I want in the story.” 

So the question I ask myself is: are they being together in the canon before an epilogue something he wants for this plot, and I think it is. To what purpose, I honestly can’t say, but the Long Night and their swords are significant. Beyond that, I truly don’t know. I have seen so many theories that I just throw my hands up at this point. It could go several different ways, but it all depends on what George has in his head and he’s, unfortunately, the only one who knows that. 

But that original question is the one I ask myself for all of these pairings - does GRRM want Arya and Gendry together before the end of the book for some reason that will serve his larger plot? I could see it, if Gendry being a Baratheon does becomes a significant part of his story. Although Arya is a child in the books so I don’t anticipate that being consummated exactly. Same for Sansa and Sandor - I think Sandor’s love for her will be a plot-relevant thing, but especially given the age problem with them (she’s SO YOUNG in the books), I don’t see that being consummated in any way in the series itself. Unless he shoves the time jump in somewhere else, which again: who the heck knows.

For the others -- I could see them all, but only in passing and only as they become relevant to the sprawling plot he’s trying to bring together. He doesn’t have space to spend time on shipping, so “making it canon” is going to be limited at best, and anything extensive is going to focus on major POV characters, and is going to be how it impacts the plot (which is why I could see Jon and Dany being a Thing). 

I DO honestly think the response to the end of Game of Thrones might be affecting him, and he might change some of the ideas he’d had before to fit a new and (I suspect) better path. But then again he may just be a stubborn fuck and double down. I love everyone’s speculation, but I have come to this calm pool of “only GRRM knows what GRRM meant, and we’re not gonna know unless he tells us.” That doesn’t invalidate people’s meta, btw, just that in a sense of “being canon,” that’s on George. Seeing as we’re never gonna get ADWD at this point (and also probably not TWOW let’s be real), canon is quantum and all things are possible and frankly I love that for fandom. Tyrion’s your valonqar and Sansa marries Jon and Bronn gets skewered by Brienne’s sword? Great. JB end up on Tarth and Arya lives a roving and restless life occasionally meeting up in nameless inns with Jaquen when she’s older and Sansa becomes queen in the north and eventually marries her long-time guard Hyle? Well. Some of us think it happens like that. *shifty eyes* 

Though personally I think Loras is gonna die. I have no snippets or plot-based reasons to back that up, it’s just a ~feeling~. I don’t want him to (or not to), but it feels like he will. Grandly.

You know what this whole Emilia hate is? Writers trying to put the fault of bad ending on the actress, because they are not only talentless and misogynistic, but also cowardly and can't admit they fucked up. I don’t really know nor care for Sansa’s character that much, especially in the show, but I do know that it’s not the magic fairytale ending she always dreamed of. From what I understand, book!Sansa wants family and peace. Nothing about season 7 or season 8 for that matter was either of those things. She was willing to murder her own sister in season 7, and then she betrayed her brothers trust in s8. She’s Queen of the North (whoopdiedoo) but she’s alone and all by herself. The last of the Starks might be alive, but the pack did not survive as not a single one of them are with the other. None of the Starks got a ‘good / decent ending’ not even Bran who was turned into a weird robot. Bran is alone. Jon goes back beyond the wall and is alone. Arya leaves Winterefll and is alone. Sansa is ruling winterfell alone. It’s not good for house stark stans.

They’re saying that Emilia ‘wrote out’ that J*nsa happens, but if she had that much power then why didn’t she write out her own characters derailment and death? It makes no sense, not that the specific people saying this have ever made sense, but legitimately it makes no sense.

Alright. I cannot do anything that has Arya or Gendry with anyone that is not Gendry and Arya, respectively. Beyond that I have (what I think) is the obvious...j*rya and j*nsa absolutely disgust/baffle me. I just...can’t. Can’t. I don’t think they’re particularly popular but I have them blacklisted so I couldn’t really tell you.

Also, and I’ll apologize for this one because I genuinely want to like them but...j*nerys does NOTHING for me...which is baffling because I think Kit and Emilia have great chemistry. But their love scene made me so uncomfortable. I didn’t think they worked together at all. Maybe it’s because I knew going into it what the familial relationship is? I don’t know I legit just feel nothing when they had scenes together. I also have such a soft spot for Jon and Ygritte and it’s one of the things I thought the show didn’t totally butcher so there’s that too. 

19. What is the one thing you hate most about your fandom?

The GoT fandom is HUGE. All of my previous fandoms (or even corners of fandoms) have been much smaller, ie. you pretty much knew everyone (usernames and real names!) and everyone had a way to contribute that was unique to them. Even the expanse of the Gendrya fandom is overwhelming. When it’s like that, what is meant to be a single unified clique becomes several cliques because it’s just impossible to think that this many people (different ages, countries of origin, languages spoken, life experiences, overall preferences, etc.) is going to all be on the same page at the same time. Most of my previous fandoms were for smaller ships so it was usually us against the rest of the fandom OR on the flipside, no one really bothered us. Instead people can be very combative/exclusive with their ideas (the call-out culture is INSANE, ie. posts that start with “anyone who thinks”...my eyes roll so far back into my head they nearly get stuck). I also think this speaks to the changing trend of fandom in general. I don’t give a flying fuck what anyone says, I don’t think everyone is as friendly/supportive in fandom as they used to be. Fandom culture/etiquette is so different than it used to be and I miss it every.single.day.

GENDRYA forever and ever, amen. Honestly though, aside from them being one of my actual OTPs, they really are the purest. They knew each other as friends, respect one another regardless of gender/class differences, have that overall cinnamon roll-esque found family trope, etc. Gendry is also one of the only men in the series that is not a complete piece of human garbage and Arya deserves the world so it’s only natural that they be paired. I could go on and on but this is not me being salty and I’m preaching to the choir anyway so...

26. Most shippable character?

Jon. Which makes sense...protagonists are also typically the most shippable. ALSO, Kit is an absolute babe so I think there’s a tendency to ship Jon with many different characters based on a fan’s love of his portrayal of the character. Does that make sense?

j*n/s*nsa is the big one. and i hope this doesn’t come across poorly or upset anyone, but. i’m really, perhaps surprisingly, not into it anymore. i was navigating away from it for awhile because it had turned into a chore and it was affecting my enjoyment of the show. tbqh, as the fandom got bigger, it seemed to me to get meaner, too, and the ship wasn’t worth that to me. basically, without getting into the specifics, i have a lot of emotional baggage tied up into it. but i so, so love the friends i’ve made through it, and i can only hope they don’t want to disown me now.

and if i’m more honest, i don’t like the way j*n treated s*nsa in s8. like, to my mind, he was kiiiiiiiind of a dick. blame it on the writing, sure, but either way it is what it is. it gave me nothing to work with, and i can’t get on board with the theories and other analyses about it; they just don’t ring true to me. i’m happy others have found solace in them, but it’s not really my jam anymore.

Hi, I'm neither a J*nsa or a J*nerys shipper. I'm a fan of Jon and quite frankly, don't get excited about any potential romance for him. I have only just found the 'undercover' theory and think it's entirely possible. However, I have a few mutuals who I am really friendly with that call it dumb and it's believers delusional. This makes me hesitant to get involved with discussions, unfortunately. I just wanted to say that I hope that the discussion does continue & I'll be keeping an eye on it.

Hi, nonny, thanks for the ask! I’m not sure, why I am all of a sudden an expert on what I call ‘Political Jon theory’, but you are welcome to look at my blog for it. By now, I’m prepared to stick to this theory out of spite for all the people who refuse to look at our arguments for it and just reduce their answers to name-calling and wanking.

One thing though, there have been so many theories, many much dumber than ‘Political Jon’ - there is evidence in the books after all (I just answered some anons about that), your friends should be more open about discussing it. I live for discussion, if it is done friendly and with mutual respect.

There is one thing about love and hate. It makes you blind, and it makes you clearsighted at the same time. I don’t think it is a coincidence that Jonsa shippers came up with the theory first. We joke about shipper goggles all the time, but in a certain angle of looking shipper goggles might serve well to let you see something clearer! It’s like glasses really. They correct your eyesight and putting them on, makes you see clearer, in some circumstances looking without glassed might give you a better look.

So, I really dislike Jon€rys. It’s my NOTP. Even when I saw some of the foreshadowing in the books, I still hoped that it would never happen, although deep down I knew that ‘accidental incest’ was probably in store for Jon. But that also meant that with my Anti shipper goggles I was more clearsighted in regard to the actual flaws of this pairing, apart from the fact that they are aunt and nephew - which isn’t that important, it only means their ship is doomed, they are complete opposites - and not in the way that makes them a good match. So, of course the ‘Political Jon theory’ fits in my shipping preferences, but that does not mean it is not true. It might mean, that only people who are open to the interpretation that Jon might not be in love with D, will be able to see it.

There is a fine line there between having clear sight because of dislke/hatred or love and being blind because of it and usually one can only see the difference in hindsight. Part of my reluctance to entertain the thought of ‘Political Jon’ instead of Jon being ooc and utter bs writing of the writers at first, was due to the fact, that I knew I was biased. I wanted to believe it, and knowing myself I was completely skeptical about it.

You hate j0ner3s? Why? Not like "wHYY DIS SHIP IS GREATEST!1!" but I'm just curious for reasons since it's interesting for me. And do you have any got/asoiaf otps? Also thank you for Elia defense.

My main issue with it is the incest. I just plain can’t get on board with that. Not only because of the incest itself, but because neither Dany nor Jon grew up with that being the way of life. Yes, Viserys said to Dany that if she’d been born earlier, Rhaegar would have married her, but it was meant to disparage her. She never thinks of Viserys sexually or romantically, he’s only her brother. Her suddenly being into incest would read like “Targs just can’t help themselves!” which is a gross concept.

It’s even worse for Jon. Nowhere in the Stark tree is brother-sister incest, it simply doesn’t happen. Jon’s maternal grandparents were cousins once-removed and several generations before that there were two half-uncle-niece marriages, but a) cousin marriage isn’t seen as incest in Westeros, nor even in many places nowadays including the U.S., b) both of them died long before Jon was born so he never saw it, and c) those marriages were for strategic purposes, not love. Jon and the other Starks never think of their family in romantic terms (note: this is also a reason I hate J*nsa and J*nrya), it’s only ever familial.

To add on to that, plenty of Targaryens have married non-Targaryens. Jon’s generation, for instance—you have Rhaegar/Elia Martell for Rhaenys and Aegon, and Rhaegar/Lyanna Stark for Jon. Aerys/Rhaella and Jaehaerys/Shaera were together, but although the latter wanted their marriage, Aerys and Rhaella most definitely did not, it was all their father’s doing based on the prophecy he heard. Before Jaehaerys and Shaera, there were three straight generations of exogamous marriage (Aegon V/Betha Blackwood, Maekar I/Dyanna Dayne, Daeron II/Mariah Martell), plus the same thing many other places in the family tree. A lot of Targaryens were incestuous, to be sure, but not exclusively so.

Now, the Westermarck Effect wouldn’t be a thing in the case of Jon/Dany since they don’t even know each other exist, but the fact remains that they are related. If Jon ever ends up feeling any attraction to Dany, when he (actually, both of them for that matter) finds out they’re related, I just can’t picture that attraction continuing; on the contrary, I think he’d be horrified by it.

Secondly, it does nothing for the plot. Jon and Dany have both had their great romances (which incidentally were also both problematic) and are still profoundly affected by them to this day. Dany has attraction to Daario, but it’s not really romantic, it’s purely sexual, and Jon has attraction to Val, but he’s not hinted that he’d act on any of it. There’s no indication that they even want another actual relationship, let alone with each other.

Thirdly, they are both leaders who have people who look up to them, who need them to be strong and steadfast, as well as enemies who would not hesitate to exploit any weaknesses. Jon experienced this already with his rescue mission for “Arya.” He got involved in matters that as a Night’s Watchman and Lord Commander were none of his business, and look what happened. He and Dany engaging in a relationship, especially if/when the truth of their consanguinity got out, would indeed be a weakness that could be exploited. If they remain unattached, no one could use the other against them. Beyond that, there’s simply no time or reason for a romance. Ice zombies are coming and the realm is in tatters. The last thing either of them needs is a hookup.

Fourthly, there’s not even a point from a tactical perspective. Dany likely is barren (though it’s possible her latest period was actually a miscarriage), as is Jon (being undead doesn’t do many favors for reproduction), so they probably couldn’t have children even if they wanted to. Besides which, either or both will almost certainly die in the end, meaning children aren’t remotely in the equation.

So yeah. That’s why. It may well happen in the books, but if it does, I won’t like it one bit.

As for your other question, my only actual ride-or-die ship in this series is Elia/Arthur. Some other pairings off the top of my head that I like include Robb/Rhaenys, Arianne/Daemon, Arya/Edric Dayne, Doran/Rhaella, and several that are more historical.

No offense to anyone that ships it but I think he’s icky and that after years of being used and manipulated by men Sansa deserves something better with someone whose motives are clear and uncomplicated, someone who actually loves her and doesn’t just see her as a useful perk on his mission for power. 

Are there any popular fandom OTPs you only BroTP?* Hmm idk about this one. I think that Brienne and Tormund is a popular ship now? If so, I only BroTP that one. I am hardcore Jaime/Brienne trash so I can’t see her with anyone else haha.

Have you ever unfollowed someone over a fandom opinion? Yes, but it wasn’t spiteful. I simply didn’t realize that someone I followed for an awesome gifset was a hardcore shipper of something that I don’t like and posted about it all the time. I just didn’t want it on my dash is all. 

Do you have a NoTP in your fandom? Are they a popular OTP?* Oh man. Yes. I do. my NoTP is Jon and Sansa. It used to not be. I used to like it and even understood it watching season 6. I also read some great fanfics by a couple of people I follow. But the fandom recently changed how I feel about it. And the more I think about it the more I think that it would be OOC for Jon. But that’s a personal opinion of course!

Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?* See above. Jon and Sansa. Not everyone who ships it is like that. In fact I’ve made good mutual friends with some people who ship it. But the radical ones and/or anti-Dany people were abusive to me and it turned me off of the ship as a whole because I started associating it with those people. 

Has fandom ever made you enjoy a pairing you previously hated?* Not really. I don’t hate most pairings. Like I have tried to say above, I am cool with people shipping with that want. If anything, fandoms are usually the problem, not the ships themselves haha. 

Is there anything you used to like but can’t stand now?* Not really. I guess the closest thing is that I used to be really into Sansa and Sandor/The Hound but now I primarily ship her with Pod. I realize that this is a 100% crack ship that will never be canon but I have become obsessed with it overnight haha. 

Have you received anon hate? What about?* I’ve received anon hate about shipping jonerys. People who claim that it’s gross for being incest, or anti-Dany people who claim that she will emasculate Jon or something. Basically nonsense. I also tried to make a meta about similarities between Sansa and Dany explaining why I love them both that really ruffled some feathers and I got some anon hate for that. 

Most disliked character(s)? Why? My least favorite characters are obvious ones. Walder Frey (may he rot in hell), Robin Arryn, Joffrey. I actually loved Ramsay because he was a really intriguing and terrifying villain. Plus he was sexy af. Gotta love my confusion about being attracted to an evil sadist. I like Littlefinger as a character even if I don’t like him with Sansa. Like Ramsay, he’s a cool villain. Great scheming. 

Most disliked arc? Why? Right now, Arya’s. I feel like her storyline with the Faceless Men was really disappointing and anti-climactic. I don’t know how I wanted it to end, but the way it ended was bad, to me. I think that there were lots of plot holes and that after all the buildup, it just should have felt more cathartic. I did like her murder of Walder Frey though.Second place goes to Jaime on the show. I don’t know why he is backsliding like this. I expected him to see through Cersei by now, and that speech he gave Edmure Tully was totally out of character and just really ugly. I feel like he’s back to season 1.

Is there an unpopular character you like that the fandom doesn’t? Why? Well apparently the fandom doesn’t like Dany. There are dedicated anti-Dany blogs, and I can’t understand that. I love her. Anyway, she is tied with Jon for my favorite character so I definitely love her despite the hate. I also, like I said above, really liked Ramsay haha. I am not sad he died or anything. I just think he was awesome. 

Is there an unpopular arc that you like that the fandom doesn’t? Why? Idk about this. I think some people in the fandom are mad that Sansa’s arc changed so drastically from the book. If I am right about that, I don’t agree. I love what D&D did with show Sansa. I am sad that she suffered under Ramsay, but she is stronger for it and I feel like for the first time she is really in charge of her own destiny. She is badass and the queen of the North as far as I’m concerned. Very big improvement over hanging out at the Vale if you ask me. 

Unpopular opinion about XXX character? Oh god. This will be very unpopular. I want Jon to take a break from the manbun. I get that people love the manbun. Fuck, I love the manbun. But I miss his flowing locks hahaha. 

Unpopular opinion about your fandom? Unpopular opinion? Idk with all the negativity going around, it’s probably unpopular to feel positive. So I’ll just say overall I love this fandom. I have met some people through loving Game of Thrones who I consider to be true friends even though we only know each other via tumblr. I love my mutuals, especially my jonerys family. 

Unpopular opinion about the manga/show? Idk if this unpopular, but I hate the Sand Snakes on the show. I think most people do? So I guess this isn’t unpopular. Idk I tend to agree with most people haha. 

If you could change anything in the show, what would you change? If I could change anything in the show, I would have Arya’s arc go better. Ask me again after season 7. If jonerys doesn’t happen, I’ll say I want to change that haha ;)

Instead of XYZ happening, I would have made ABC happen… Instead of Jaime continuing to follow Cersei, I would have him turn on her in the eleventh hour and reconcile with Tyrion. Cersei is an amazing woman, but she’s got to go. I think it is wildly out of character for Jaime to continue to support her after her political climbing has endangered the lives of their children to the point of their deaths. I just feel that as a character Jaime should have evolved beyond this. He should have wised up before now. He has a good heart. She doesn’t. Oops. Bet THAT is my unpopular opinion. 

Does not shipping something ‘popular’ mean you’re in denial and/or biased? Absolutely not. Shipping something is entirely subjective and based on emotions. If you feel something about a non-canon or crack ship, that’s awesome. It means you think like an individual. It’s only a problem when you try to attack other people/ships out of anger that yours isn’t happening. 

What is the one thing you hate most about your fandom? The ship war between J*nsa and jonerys.

What is the purest ship in the fandom? Gendrya. Hands down. Haha.

What are your thoughts on crack ships? They are so much fun! The more the better. I want to write about my secret one one day. It will get no reads but I’ll be happy haha.

Popular character you hate? I don’t hate any characters, especially not popular ones. 

Unpopular character you love? Like I said above, Dany, apparently. And Ramsay. Lol. 

Would you recommend XXX to a friend? Why or why not? Of course. I force everyone in my life to watch Game of Thrones!

How would you end XXX/Would you change the ending of XXX? My dream ending has Daenerys and Jon falling in love and successfully uniting the kingdoms against the White Walkers. They win the war at the cost of many lives. King’s Landing is destroyed in the process. It turns out that Dany isn’t barren and they have a child. But when King’s Landing is being rebuilt, Dany realizes that what she wanted all along wasn’t a throne, it was a family and a place to belong. She thought that meant carrying on her family’s dynastic tradition but knows now that she can be happy with Jon in the North. The Red Keep is rebuilt without an Iron Throne and Tryion establishes a senate with representatives from all seven kingdoms and Essos. I know this won’t happen. It’s my wish though haha.

HA. HAAAAAA. HAAAAAAAAAAAA. Okay, this is going to be me salting quite a lot because there are about three that are tied because I hate them…so…damn..much - but, ofc, everything will be slashed so no one can come at me bc I’m staying in my damn lane. Cool? Cool. 

And of course, this is not meant to shade every single person in these fandoms. Saying this includes every single person in fandom is a ridiculous assumption to make. I follow people from each, and they’re lovely wonderful people. When I say fandom, I’m talking about the community, not every individual in that community. I’m going by my personal experience, with the fandom that I have seen.

The Cl/exa fandom. It remains the first fandom that I’ve actively hated without being a part of fandom or ever watching the show. I followed a lot of The 1.00 people, and fandom seemed really sweet at the time, but sometime around season 2 I noticed a lot of my Cl/exa followers being horribly racist, biphobic, or just overall shitty (about three kept saying B/ellamy had white male privilege and I really had to double check because I was sure he was a POC and ofc, the actor is, so that was fun). There were also people hating on Desi fans who pointed out how L/exa’s brownface + bindi (and yes, yes, the “helm of awe” thing I get it but that paired with her brownface doesn’t exactly pair well) or considered it “just her having dirt on her face!!!” or “she’s just tan!” really bothered me (esp when one of those same people reblogged an AU where she’s the child of D/rogo & D/any where - Drogo is a POC man so which is it?? Is she a white woman in brown face or not because bud you can’t have both.) The full on moment I hated fandom, though, was when L/exa died. I was sympathetic up until every single wlw ship I followed was filled with L/exa dying. I really don’t need that, especially with the constant “LESBIAN KILLED BY A BULLET” trope being applied to D/elphine who 1. Showed up later on in the season perfectly fine and 2. Is B I S E X U A L. There was constant bi-erasure (one post in particular called K/orrasami lesbians and when it was pointed out that they were both bi the response was that they knew but meant lesbian as in wlw like???? What?????). And that, that was the exact moment when I finally went through my dash and unfollowed a shit load of awful Cl/exa fans and now I only have about 3-5 that I follow because they’re nice, point out problematic aspects, and/or are just generally non-shitty people. 

The DC.TV fandom, specifically the Error & Supe/rgirl fandom. The Sup/ergirl fandom was fine the first season, but it’s especially broken down the second season. Constant erasure of James from the white femslash fandom like!!! How fun!!! And, of course, there’s the Error fandom - they were extra fun. I ship Ol*icity and somehow the fandom managed to lessen my love for them with their misogynistic hatred of La/urel!! Not to mention their real life hatred of KC and shipping Stem*ly together and trying to say that they’re having an affair in real life because that’s not gross at all!!!! And honestly, while I shit on the Ol*city fandom a lot, the entire fandom is gross - I’ve seen the L/aurel fandom slut shame Fel*city and I understand not liking her character, but I don’t like the slut shaming, and I especially hate when people want her to die graphically, because she is a Jewish character and people really need to think about the implications that they give off when they write posts about wanting her to die or make posts with Feli/city dolls where the head is chopped off or she’s bloody af like please criticize the character but don’t be shitty and forget that she’s a Jewish character too, and please don’t be misogynistic.

And I didn’t really get on about them but honestly??? Fl/ash fandom can be shitty too, esp with the ones who have their White Faves, and the Sn*wbarry vs West*llen nonsense. Sn*wbarry fandom can be transparently racist at times, and it’s ridiculous, esp when they’re called out on excluding I.ris or Ci.sco from posts. Ship what you want - I’m not gonna rag on anyone for shipping Sn*wbarry - but please don’t try to pretend like this ship wasn’t founded in racism, like the second CP was cast for I.ris fandom didn’t go “oh….you know what…..Dan/ielle’s character looks…more suitable for B.arry….”. That doesn’t mean that YOU’RE racist, but that’s where the ship came from, and I dislike the fact that people act like that didn’t happen. And - I am part of the We/stallen fandom (kind of) and I like it, but I do have to admit the fandom can be too aggressive at times, and goes overboard on people who multiship or don’t ship We/stallen. I understand there are racist issues with most of the people fandom has had to deal with on the tag, but I’ll see people attacking people who want to get along or congratulated us, or simply immediately accusing them of being racist and like, fam, wyd? Don’t do that, be better than that. 

WHILE WE’RE HERE I feel like most of the annoying parts of the LOT fandom comes from F/larrow but they’re still a part of L.OT and the biphobia that comes from there (esp from the C.aptain C.anary fandom - which, I still ship the ship, but come on fandom be less annoying). 

The majority of the S/ansa fandom. I love S/ansa. She’s my favorite female character ever. However, a large part of her active fandom irritates me. What are Sa/nsa (who is 11-16 depending on the timelines) biggest ships? Her with P/etyr (middle aged man), with T/yrion (middle aged man, who she was forced into a marriage with), with J/on (her adopted brother and biological cousin), and with Sa/ndor (a middle aged man who she’s terrified of). People try to pass it off like they were shipping these with no problem because of Sophie being legal, but these ships were very large when Sophie was starting out as S/ansa - aka when she was 13. And, the ship was incredibly popular in the book fandom, meaning that fans read about an 11 year old girl interacting with middle aged men and thought, “yes, let’s ship her with them”. People try to excuse them and say it’s because “it’s how it works in GOT” but honestly I think that’s an excuse to just ship their pedophile ships - and when they ship J*onsa, it completely ignores Jo.n’s place as a S/tark and acts as if him being adopted does not make him S/ansa’s true brother, which real-life adopted fans have seen from the J*onsa fandom and have found hurtful. It’s so shitty and normalizes abusive ships or relationships with a power-imbalance, and it’s horrible that people see this character, call themselves fans, and yet still ship her in the most unhealthy relationships.
