my headcanons about pico

ive gota write this for a friend specifically

basic info: > i headcanon Pico as 5'9" but i draw him extra long sorry. he assure he does not go up to or over 6' he's just not that tall > to me he is lanky and has high metabolism. a lot of people draw pico as very jacked and i dont blame them (it looks very nice,) and my pico has abs too, but he's not built like that. you could call it a Sleeper Build > he has a confident persona he puts up in front of strangers/acquaintances, but realistically he's paranoid to all hell and gets really shy around people he likes > short temper, i think that's canon. he is sensitive to being teased or taunted. > he sold a kidney

the rest: > Pico canonically has schizophrenia, and specifically to me he hallucinates sounds (voices, gunshots, doors slamming) and tactile hallucinations (feeling things that aren't there i.e. bugs, hands) > Pico's name isn't Pico. Headcanon name - Percy Gallo. you might find that "Gallo" means "rooster" in spanish. In order to make my pun work, i think Pico is the whitest of all hispanics. Classmates called him "Pico" like "Pico de gallo" and it stuck. > Pico, after his breakup with Boyfriend (Keith?), got in a habit of having a lot of one-night-stands with women that are much older than him. He did this to let off steam and also get his dick whet. > Because of this, he became really rough when he actually hooks up with anyone he truly likes. Whether that's a good or bad thing is up to you. > back to Pico's schizophrenia, I like to imagine that, after he rid of Cassandra (at the time,) the corpse mysteriously disappeared and, on news interviews, he sounds crazy when he tries to explain that "an alien shot up my school!" Because no one believes him except for a handful of witnesses (like, idk, 2,) he has a hard time believing anything that happened to him was real. > Pico isn't particularly fond of being a hitman. When he thinks a lot about it, he wonders where he could really be today. ✨ARO SPEC AWARENESS WEEK!!✨

THESE PEOPLE EXIST AND ARE BEAUTIFUL & AMAZING! APPRECIATE THEM! RESPECT THEM!

I don't really do the awareness week things cuz I draw during pride month but finding out (learning how to read a bio status that's been in my face every time I open their blog) that @hellishgayliath is aro, I wanted to incorporate them! I know I say I appreciate them a lot but ITS BECAUSE I DO!

This is also a reveal that Luci is aro spec! I am not aromantic myself, but I have done my research into it. However, if I do make any stereotypical or offensive characterizations for Luci, please let me know so I may change that! I find it funny that both Repo & Luci wouldn't know of the labels lgtbqia+ so Luci has no idea what aromantic is lol

Okok, so I designed Luci in late December. I make characters in my head for fandoms I'm in all the time, but I never draw them out because I never care to. I didn't really consider making a rottmnt oc until Helli dropped their Bao character which is followed when I started making fanart of Helli's sons. I decided, "I have nothing better to do, so why not" and I really like moths, so why not a moth oc?

Seeing Pico & Bao made me really want to put Luci in a relationship, and I had (and still have) a character in mind that I'd pair her with. But the more I drew her and explored her character, I wasn't as sure. Around this time I learned what QPRs (queer platonic relationship) are and the best way I can describe them is that they're like deeper (more-than-platonic-but-not-romantic) soulmates.

This led me into the aro spec rabbit hole (ha, hi Helli) and I learned a lot about aro labels and aromanticism in general, to which some things I didn't know I connected with lol. And I am aware, since it's a spectrum, that some aros are in relationships, single, interested in romance, repulsed, or a mess of all these things.

But I still wasn't sure if I felt putting Luci in some kind of relationship (more towards a QPR) was okay? I haven't said much on Luci's view on relationships and romance, and I'll do that in another post so I'm not writing an essay over here lol. Because I'm aware that some people do go down that route of "Well some aromantics do date, so I can draw this character in a relationship" and no hate though as peeps can do what they want. I just didn't want to do that with Luci.

So really I'm on the fence of the possibility, and if I do, I want to do it in a way that's respectful to aro's with boundaries or dislikes Luci would have if she was in a close relationship. Of course, I could be overthinking this, which is why I shortened this post in the first place lol, but I'm also a paranoid socially anxious person that doesn't want to be offensive especially since my moot is on this spectrum. I will accept any tips or advice if they're offered; I just wanted to yap and blah blah.

— I can't say this enough but this man DEFINITELY CONSTANTLY has his guns on him all the time. I mean, he's paranoid asf from all the things he's seen, what did you expect?

— That being said, I also think he's barely sane. He canonically has untreated schizophrenia alongside other disorders and I think he'd be questioning reality often if not all the time.

— His hallucinations consist mostly of the victims in the school shoøting and people/targets that he has had to retort to EXTREME measures with. He never speaks about it but if anyone knew what he'd done to certain hits, he'd probably brush it off by saying something along the lines of 'They were hard to deal with' or 'i had to finish it one way or another'.

— Although he's described as cold, antisocial and deranged, he just needs a hug. Seriously, all this guy could ever want is a hug and someone to tell him they won't leave him like everyone else. All his life people he loved have either ended up six feet underground or have abandoned him.

— But don't you think it's easy to ACTUALLY get to him. He has such complicated trust issues. He often puts people he's suspicious of (for example new people that he's just meeting or even his very close childhood friends like Nene and Darnell) to tests. He'd make up stories about him doing something Brutal, vanish for months, ghost them, be mean to them just to see if they'll leave or not. Pico knows it's not healthy. But what about him is?

— Although I'd like to think that if you get on his good side, you get on his good side. He'd take a bullet for you without a second thought. And if he actually loves you? Yeah well, you have a forever guardian angel- or should I say demon? He'd be so overprotective bfrrrrrr.

— Pico likes it when he gets bit. Anywhere, everywhere. It REALLLYY gets him going. You could slightly bite his arm and BOOM- he's solid hard.

— But you know what he also likes? His hair being touched. Stroked, grabbed, pulled, caressed. He LOVES it when people he trusts play with his hair.

— He loves being held and sweet-talked but tell anyone and you're getting a bullet to the head.

for background, Pico's School is a 1999 flash game created by Tom Fulp, the guy who made Newgrounds. it got popular for being pretty advanced for the time, though by todays standards its pretty basic. The game has carved its niche place in internet history. For some time Pico was considered the mascot for Newgrounds, and to this day the character and series is celebrated every April 30th on what is called Pico Day. The game is also very much a reflection of its time period and internet culture, being drenched in edgy and crass humor

it also however deals with some serious subject matter, so before i get into the story here is a TW for school shootings annd suicidality

There are several titles in the Pico series, it generally follows the adventures of the wacky oddball friend group Nene, Darnell, and Pico. Nene is a suicidal lovergirl, Darnell a genius pyromaniac, and Pico the paranoid gunman. The most defining title of the series is Pico's School. It actually wasn't the first one in the series, Nene's Interactive Suicide and Darnell Plays with Fire came out first, but Pico's School is the one which introduced Pico and is arguably the center of the series and the one most often talked about.

How the plot goes is that its seemingly a normal school day for Pico, and theyre having a pleasant class learning about apples and bananas. This is until a school shooting kicks off, where a goth student named Cassandra gets up and starts angrily denouncing the american education system before killing the entire class, save for Pico. From then on you play as Pico who takes it upon himself to take down the shooter kids, finding a gun in the janitors closet and fighting the different kids one by one

the shooter kids are a group called The Goth Punks, which as you can guess is a group made up of alternative kids. The first one you encounter is Alucard, a kid with telekinetic powers who throws dead bodys and chairs at you which you have to shoot away until his shield is down so you can shoot him. Next up is Cyclops, a kid who guards the hallway and acts as a progression obstacle, where to get past him you have to have the gun so you can threaten (or kill, more on that later) your way past him. After Cyclops is a big security gate, which you can unlock with a key you get after beating Alucard. Next enemy on the block is Hanzou, a weeb kid you find in the girls bathroom. You fight them in the dark, and you have to follow the red light of their night vision visor to shoot at them. Up ahead in another hallway Pico comes across Nene, who begs Pico to spare her the misery and to kill her. After killing them you pick up the night vision visor, which is necessary to finding a key item to progress. After Pico makes his way to the boiler room he comes across Cassandra and her goons. Pico tries to tell her that, being different is hard but that it is no reason to take it out on others. this is when Cassandra reveals that she doesnt actually care about that any of that crap and kills her goons, and reveals that she is actually an ALIEN whos here to do evil alien bidding. she then transforms into this gigantic creature, and thus starts the final boss fight against Cassandra. The ending cutscene of the game presents us with the class some time after the shooting, and a new teacher introduces new transfer kids brought in to replace the dead ones, and Pico immediately feeling threatened takes out his gun. The End

soo YEAH ALOT HAPPENS. but thats not even the end of it. For one the game actually has a choice mechanic, where you can choose to kill or spare some of the enemies and also Nene. Its a nice layer of interactability and I think pretty interesting when it comes to interpreting Pico as a character. speaking of which, i find the progression of his character REAALLY interesting!!! for one, at the start of the game he seems to be really eager to participate in class and to learn. so while we don't get to see much of how he was before the shooting, it can be inferred he was a pretty regular cheerful kid, and is pretty much stated as such when Cassandra says "you were always too busy being popular to notice". This is in staaark contrast to how he is portrayed after the shooting, in both Pico's School and outside media, where he is rude and violent and distrustful. He is clearly traumatized and affected by the shooting, and it deeply changed him as a person and sets the course of the rest of his life, ie. mental health issues, giving up on school, living a life of crime and violence, never going anywhere without a gun, and so on

in general there is SO MUCH MORE I COULD TALK ABOTU like the pico trios characters as a whole, their other games/appearances, their modern relevance (ie. their place in friday night funkin), etc. but you asked about pico's school specifically so i limited myself to stuff relevant to that specifically.......... Into, Across and Beyond! Scripting: Burning Too Much Daylight

(This series of events is part of the alternate continuity of @robovoidfrog's Funkinverse, and is again not to be considered canon unless they state otherwise by the release of Beyond the Spider-Verse.)

After Benjamin and BluBuni managed to save Goatfriend from a landslide in an area and overpower Kenji proper, they came to a stop at the far end of Aquatic Ruin.

Benjamin: Geesh, what is with you trying to stop us from doing the right thing?

Kenji: Dude, you seriously CAN'T save everybody yourself. That's a given in life, and I've had to witness that over time.

Benjamin: I mean, you have a point about it being impossible to save everyone, but that doesn't mean we won't try to anyway.

Kenji: ...Is this why you're still on board with Salty's thoughts, even when you've seen him turn you down?

BluBuni: He's still paranoid from when your group tried to stop him from doing what he felt the urge to do. He might cool off if more -friends side with his desire to stop The X.

Goatfriend: So this is why you've tried to enable my death? Out of that desire to maintain a linear plot that doesn't exist?! I knew there was something fishy about you when Ben and his pack first knocked you out, but this just sells you off as a murderer by inaction!

Kenji: Murd-?! I'm not the one actively trying to murder people to uphold the multiverse! I... I don't even want to deliberately murder anyone. Having my family drift apart and my own counterpart of Pico being driven to a murderous insanity hasn't helped my situation at all, nor has having to witness practically everyone around me undergo their own angst periods.

Benjamin sighed, knowing he couldn't yet forgive Kenji for his repeated disruptions to their parole, but sympathised enough with him to let him be.

Benjamin: Okay. It doesn't excuse what you tried to do, but I'm letting you go.

Alt MIX Boyfriend: What?! He tried to stop us from saving Goatie there, man.

Benjamin: I know, but a lot of these guys aren't thinking straight, more so than what is necessary.

Neo Girlfriend: Which makes sense, considering Leo and Soft Pico's Ben are both stuck with the Society.

Kenji: I don't get it, Ben. Why WOULD you spare me after I've tried to stop you? After I tried to stop... t-the alternate Aloe?

Benjamin: Simple; I don't believe in killing people for the greater good, not even other -friends. Me and Gracie's groups are trying to do the true greater good, by rallying up others to help stop The X as soon as possible. It doesn't help, however, that we've been side-tracked constantly by you derailing our bids to help Salty out. I'll let you go, but you gotta promise not to continue interfering with our mission.

Kenji: *sigh* Okay. I promise.

They nodded to each other.

Soft Pico: Before we let you go... We need to know something important.

Neo Girlfriend: What Earth designation is the Society HQ at?

Kenji wasn't sure if it was best to tell them, but knew it couldn't be hidden forever.

Kenji: I'll tell you, though if necessary, get in there, get whoever you need to out and then hurry out, before Cam notices what you're doing. Alright, so the location is Earth 1-2-4-

He was interrupted as he witnessed blood splatter, showing horror from what happened.

Benjamin: Kenji? Is that all there is?

Kenji: H-He... He figured it out...

BluBuni: What do you mean by-?

Blu turned around, and to her horror, Goatfriend had been shot in the back, now kneeling on the floor.

BluBuni: GOATFRIEND!

She kneeled by his side, tears welling from her eyes. Benjamin did the same, equally horrified.

BluBuni: No no no no! P-Please, stay with me.

Benjamin: Hang tight, G. I'll try and get you healed up.

Goatfriend: I- *cough* I don't want you to waste your strength o-or energy, Ben. That X creep needs stopping b-before he destroys the multiverse.

BluBuni: What about you? I can't just leave you to... t-to...

He put his hand on her cheek, trying to calm her down.

Goatfriend: Hey. Look at me, Blu. You've still got a lot to live for. I don't want your happiness to be permanently gone b-because of this. Y-You need to help Ben and the others stop The X, for m-my sake, alright?

BluBuni: A-Alright, G...

Goatfriend: A-And Ben? Y-You've become tight-knit with B-Blu, haven't you? In case I d-don't make it, please... take g-good care of her for me.

Benjamin: I... I promise she'll be safe with me, Goatfriend.

Goatfriend: A-And, er... just remember that s-she doesn't like carrots. I... heh, I l-learned that the hard way m-myself.

Benjamin: Heh, I'll keep that in mind.

BluBuni smiled to Ben, happy he had the right material as one of her best friends.

Benjamin: I'm gonna get you healed anyway, though. Even if it burns out my strength for a bit, it's better than leaving you to die.

He got started on healing the bullet wound right away.

Goatfriend: Y-You really didn't have to do this, you know?

Benjamin: It's the least I can do for a friend, man. Plus, the shot didn't manage to hit any vital organs, so you're alright.

Goatfriend: T-Thanks, Ben. I really appreciate it.

Grace and Pico arrived on the scene.

Pico: Is he alright? We heard the gunshot before.

Benjamin: Thankfully so. If whoever tried to kill him is still in range, he's not safe here. Grace, can you warp him to a safe spot that's still in this dimension?

Grace: I'm right on it.

She was about to do so, but her neck was clasped by a power inhibitor that prevented her from doing so, right before extra lead was shot into Goatfriend, this time successful in killing him.

BluBuni: NO! G!

She rushed to his body, tearing up a lot as Benjamin went next to her and Grace broke the inhibitor.

Grace: O-Oh, no...

BluBuni: P-Please, d-don't die on me... p-please...

When she realised he really was killed this time, she started crying, now having been through TWO events where she had lost a loved one to outside forces. In response, Benjamin hugged her tightly to comfort her.

Benjamin: H-Hey. I'm here, Buni.

BluBuni: W-Why did it have to be him...?

During the hug, Barbara noticed something close by and pointed Benjamin's focus towards it; a pair of glowing pink eyes that were all too familiar to him. He watched the figure he knew was actively trying to stop him from doing the right thing with contempt, as he slipped away into a portal.

Benjamin: ...Cam!

Pico turned to Kenji.

Pico: Okay, dude. Change of plans, get us straight to his HQ. He needs a reality check.

Kenji kept true to his word, generating a portal that got Benjamin's group into the Funkin' Society HQ at Earth-1249, where Softie was at alongside several other -friends.

Soft Pico: There's Softie!

Softie turned back, seeing his boyfriend having come for him.

Soft Benjamin: Pico?

Soft Pico: Boy, am I glad to see you in one piece. They didn't hurt you, did they?

Soft Benjamin: Thankfully not. Though, I'm not sure I can say the same about all these guys that have been through a lot. Oh, er, who's this (EB!Softie) you've got with you?

EB!Softie: Oh! Hey there!

Soft Pico: It's a long story, Ben. I'll tell you later.

Gracie's group entered the area as well.

Gracie: Did you guys make it?

Benjamin: I... I was so close to saving Goatfriend, but... (through gritted teeth) Cam murdered him in cold blood to try and maintain his "canon"!

Gasps of horror, concern, worry and anger were heard around the other present -friends.

Kenji: I witnessed it happen, everyone. I... I'm sorry.

Judith: I never knew he'd... go as far as to defy our morals just to get his way.

Neo Boyfriend/Leo: The point still stands that, if Salty is out there trying to stop The X, and a few of us couldn't apprehend him ourselves, he needs all the help he can get!

Benjamin: Just what I was thinking.

Gracie: We called you guys together not just to save Salty, but to preserve the very fabric of reality itself.

Benjamin: As it stands, the multiverse needs us to keep it safe, and we need to split from a civil war and unite as one to achieve it.

Gracie: So, our goal is simple. Save our friend, safeguard every universe... and never back down!

Even some of the other defectors, like B3 and Lexi, were present and hearing this.

Galfriend: So how do we go about destroying him if he's pretty much nigh-invincible?

Benjamin: There is a way. Despite him being a distorted demon, his weak spots are going to be where the dark matter in his body hasn't reached. We'll need to make him waste enough of it for us to get good hits in and bring him back down to a vulnerable state.

Leo: Then we shouldn't waste any more time. We're allying as one, and we're staying that way to the end! At this point, no -friend is being left out, no matter what!

Benjamin: And in defiance of defined fates, we'll fix this mess once and for all! Who's with us?

Many -friends in the room raised their fists in their parole to join the cause to stop The X and prove that they're still capable of doing the right thing. However, Cam soon entered the room on a higher level, witnessing what was going on.

Cam: <Everyone, we'll focus on the X after we've stopped Salty's defiance! Get back to your-!>

However, Benjamin spotted him and threw his microphone cord at him, yanking him down by the leg in front of everyone present.

Cam: GAH!

Benjamin: Shut up with your so-called "authority", Blueballs!

Cam: <I'm the good guy here! None of you get it!>

Kenji: He said shut UP!

Kenji speaking up second shocked a lot of the -friends, considering that he had been one Boyfriend the others barely hung around.

Kenji: Everyone, Cam does NOT know what he's doing as a leader, and he's proved that quite well!

Cam: <Traitorous scum! I gave you a simple task, and you botched it on purpose!>

Judith: No! He's right. All of us in here have to atone for our past failures; the loved ones we've lost, the people we couldn't save thanks to your rules... I told you before, Cam. THIS is what we do. We HELP people, even if it affects us badly in the long-run.

Bartholomew/B3: I know it's hard to accept, boss, but THAT is the truth I had been blinded to since you brought me here.

Aloe Mano: In there, you clearly didn't want to hesitate in chasing Salty down the second he got free from your energy cage. And look what things have become now!

Benjamin: It's clear now, isn't it, Cam? Your little society you made under the guise of "protecting the multiverse"? It's nothing but a cult enabling murders by not allowing others to try and save those close to them. Even if you didn't directly kill them, their blood's still on your hands, and on those you and your strike force have prevented from helping those close to them.

The -friends around him were clearly ashamed for enabling the deaths of those close to them.

Benjamin: THAT'S why Salty defied your goals; BECAUSE he isn't going to let his adoptive family meet the same fate as countless others have in your guise of stopping those universes from destabilising! It doesn't help you've been hiring children as young as Lexi into your twisted actions, and I'm sure as hell glad I got to Evan before any of your squad could try and usurp him!

B-Bot: Isn't it obvious from your backstory? It's YOU who's the original anomaly.

Brooke: Make that more of a paradox. You saw the anomalies, attributed them to Salty, and even then, you stood in for a dead counterpart of yourself.

Cam: <That changes nothing. We ARE the good guys, and you all know it. We're still keeping the multiverse safe.>

Softie shook his head.

Soft Benjamin: Not like THIS, we aren't, Cam.

Romantic Boyfriend: Too darn right.

RecD Boyfriend (with accompanying subtitles): Yeah, like, how is this meant to be fair on us when our motive's meant to be doing the right thing?!

Benjamin: In fact, I'll never forgive you for disrupting my attempt to help BluBuni save Goatfriend from his "canon event"! She's been deeply scarred from this second major loss in her life, and his death remains on YOUR hands! AND Kenji's! AND anyone else who deliberately tried to intervene!

Cam growled at Benjamin as other -friends stepped back a little in fear, realising from words alone that the angel was a force to be reckoned with.

Benjamin: THIS is who your leader is, everyone; a deluded and sickening bully who uses force to get his own way! Well, I've made it clear I won't be joining your "alliance", Cam, and neither will any of my pack, end of! We're supposed to be the good guys, and look what you've made hundreds of -friends become!

Cam attempted to lunge at Benjamin before being blocked by BluBuni, who was especially angry at him for what he did.

BluBuni: You're a murderer, and you know it.

Cam: <Get out of the way right now!>

BluBuni: I won't!

Cam: <I will not ask you again, girl! Get the fuck out of MY WAY!>

In response, Bently rushed forward and slashed at Cam's eye again, this time truly damaging it.

Brooke Jr. blew a raspberry at him to make it clear again his opinion on the fallen hero, as he and his father warped away. Even Evan couldn't help but show his contempt to Cam for his unjustifiable actions.

Benjamin: Alright, guys. Let's go do what we should've been focusing on from the start!

The Funkin' Gang and Benjamin's crew warped away, leaving Cam (and Derpina) the only ones left in the HQ.

Derpina: Well... THAT happened, I guess.

Cam: <Not now, Derpina.> *sigh* <Do you have any idea on how we can get rid of The X?>

Derpina: Should all else fail, I've run scans about a nuclear solution. I've run simulations wherein reversing the polarity of the colliders will destabilise Grimbo's being and erase him from the multiverse, as well as all those in Salty's universe.

Cam: <That's an option I don't even want to consider, Derpina! Haven't you got any more feasible options on hand?!>

Derpina: Oh, I'm certain the solution will work should it need to be employed. It has before... in the universe you lived in temporarily.

This realisation hit Cam like a ton of bricks. Everything in his world view fell apart in an instant as he realised that "canon" was not the cause of his failed act to be happy again, and Derpina knew it all along. He fell to his knees and looked around the now-empty building, his face showing genuine sorrow and regret for the first time in a long time.

He slowly made his way back to the control room, looking at his hands, which flashed blood being on them from time-to-time to hammer in the points thrown at him.

Salty: Who decides that? I'm not a kid! Gracie: We're supposed to be the GOOD guys! Judith: Millions of people will be in grave danger if we keep sitting on the wayside. Kenji: Cam does NOT know what he's doing as a leader! B-Bot: It's YOU who's the original anomaly. RecD BF: How is this meant to be fair on us when our motive's meant to be doing the right thing?! BluBuni: You're a murderer, and you know it.

Finally, he rested his hand by the control panel, remembering that one self-destruct command he had installed just in case the silly and quippy natures of his peers annoyed him so much that he'd blow up the entire building with them and himself inside. He also saw his watch very close to running out of power, a look of determination and the urge to actually do the right thing washing over him.

Derpina: So... what's YOUR plan on stopping The X?

Cam (hovering his hand over the switch): <What I should've done before Salty got here to begin with.> I'm going to help the others out and right my own wrongs!

He pressed the button before using his watch to warp to Earth-405 (Derpina in tow), the building itself blowing up shortly after and leaving only debris and badly-damaged machinery at its former site.

you said jayce and ryker are based off of cal and andre so i was wondering which is supposed to be off of which?

honestly i kinda mashed bits and pieces of andre and cal into them both personality and design wise,, but i would definitely say jayce is more based off of andre and ryker is more based off of cal!!!

jayce has a shorter temper and like andre, a more nihilistic view of life, but not to the point he's outwardly suicidal like cal is. jayce is also more prone to the idea that theyre "gonna get away with it" as he views it less of a final act and more like a revenge for what the bullies at his school have done to both him and ryker. hes also incredibly staunch and structured about planning the whole thing and less paranoid people around them will catch on or find out what theyre going to do. unlike andre, this mostly comes from him having to raise his little brother and basically provide for an entire household since he was about 10ish. he knows what works, how to conceal things from adults [re: his smoking habit], and how to plan out a long-term goal!! but he is like cal is the way he basically dangles the fact he's planning something in front of peoples faces, he doesnt write poetry, but if he did, it would definitely be similar to cals

ryker is more like calvin in the way hes outwardly more suicidal and less on track with the entirety of planning their act, hes involved but in a more artistic way than jayce. he talks about it like its some kind of daydream hes been having and rarely comes up with solid planning in the long run. the most he really contributes to the planning is them being able to go out and shoot in the woods occasionally and supplying the firearms theyre going to use. hes also less careful about hiding what theyre planning, choosing to joke about what theyre going to do and even make a shooter game on his newgrounds with a rudimentary but similar layout to their own highschool [think something like picos school, erics doom map, or the eddworld zombie shooters] i still need to develop rykers personality a bit further but this is what i have so far

So like... What's Cherry's and Pico's dynamic like compared to Keith and Pico, and Keith and Cherry?

This made me clap my hands like a happy little toddler, I'm glad you asked!

Before I get to that though, I must put down what they're dynamic is like with each other in general, just in case it hasn't been made very clear before hah. Long post below

As usual, Pico is the voice of reason out of the three, being the one who attempts to keep his partners out of trouble (that somehow works just half the time) if only because he's paranoid of the worst (overly exaggerated) outcomes possible. He's arguably shy to show his affection to his lovers, mostly in public areas, but when they're alone or somewhere he feels safe, the most he'd do is hesitate to give into a hug or lean against either one. He's not the one to initiate affection a lot, but if he's feeling upset or bothered, he won't wait to hide his face in Cherry's shoulder and hold her close, or sneaking beneath Keith's arms to hug his big teddy bear tight.

While he's not canon-BF silly, Keith is known for making rash decisions that one would normally think is a bad idea now and then, often trying to drag Pico and Cherry in along with him. Not to say he can't be responsible when it comes to serious matters, but he can goof off whenever things are smooth sailing, often out of curiosity or heat of the moment (literally). A lot of this can be a result of his ADHD, mostly when he forgets to take his pills from time to time. He never hesitates to initiate hugs or kisses anywhere, but he'll hold back in public for Pico's sake, knowing how the ginger-head feels about it. With Cherry he'll show his affection to her anytime, any place, even if it's the worst.

Cherry more or less lands somewhere between both her boys. She knows where Pico comes from when he warns or barks at Keith a warning when he suggests something questionable, but she's also easily swayed and influenced by her big lug (she can't stand seeing him make that heartbreaking :C face). That being said, she does have her limits to what she'll join Keith in. (No Keith, she's not gonna say yes to pranking and provoking Pico's angry neighbor next door with an airhorn by the door handle). Like Keith, she doesn't mind showing her affection to her lovers in public, but also holds back for Pico's comfort. She's very clingy with both of them when they're alone.

Cherry and Pico's dynamic is more tender and relaxed. With Keith, Cherry is more accommodating and kindle, eager to do whatever he suggests. With Pico, she feels more ascendant and wanting to make sure he's as comfortable as he can be and at peace; relaxed and pampered. She floods them both with gifts and kisses to show her affection.

Despite his tough outer defensive shell and dangerous efficiency to twist an arm and flip you over on your back with his bare hands even if you're twice his size, his lack of experience makes Pico become somewhat meek when it comes relationships, especially romantic-wise. Eventually, once he's more used and settled with the aforementioned, he'll have his moments of possessiveness and need to protect (and please) his partners, and like mentioned before, he won't hesitate to hold his lovers close or take a more prominent role when feeling trouble. Usually though, he's timid with both Keith and Cherry, sheepish but willing to cooperate with them both, and gradually loosen up.

Finally, Keith. With Pico, he knows when too much hugging, kissing or teasing is enough for the ginger, or when too little is not, in which the latter is rarely ever the case. You could say he's gentle in his way of caring and loving, but he knows when the ginger-head is up for some rough play or bombardment of dad jokes. With Cherry he's unhinged, and she loves it. Not to say they don't also have their soft moments, but you're more likely to find these two stealing a kiss whenever they get the chance to (even if it's the least appropriate place for one). They can't keep their hands or eyes off each other unless their parents are around (in that case, they're lady and gentleman. Cue Pico facepalming whenever they go from excited dogs to well-mannered cats in a matter of seconds once either party's parents step in the room.) Overall, Keith is always up to make his both partners content and happy, however he can, however they want : )

También es muy dado a demostrar afecto con el contacto físico. Abraza, da la mano, ofrece el brazo para pasear juntitos... Pero en parte lo hace y busca iniciar ese tipo de interacciones porque es la forma en la que él entiende o sabe recibir el afecto de los demás.

Depende. Dario sabe que la gente que le conocen muy bien pueden llegar a leerle cosas en los ojos. Así que depende de si quiere que le lean o no, de si mantener la mirada le hará parecer honesto, de si puede apartarla para darse algo de cobertura, de si la otra persona no se va a tomar mal ese gesto, de si lo que está diciendo es difícil de decir o va a ser difícil de escuchar para la otra persona... Porque la cosa es que para hablar con alguien con absoluta franqueza sin mirarle hace falta también bastante confianza. Ahí estás dejando de leerle las reacciones tú también, lo cual implica que no puedes cerrar el pico a tiempo si estás metiendo la patita.

YUP. Son la misma cosa, y de hecho le pasa con varias de sus virtudes. La mayor fortaleza de Dario es su mente. Es muy inteligente, pero no puede parar. Su mente lo tiene a él, y no al revés, así que piensa las cosas demasiado. Dario es un mentiroso, pero es el uso que hace de las mentiras lo que le permite convencerse a sí mismo y a otros de tener esperanza incluso en momentos en los que él no tiene nada a lo que aferrarse para mantenerla. Brain dump, 2025-05-21

(I’ve been experimenting with dictating and lightly editing thoughts to make sense of stuff; this is the first and probably longest example.)

I started reading Craig Mod’s excellent Things Become Other Things, and it got me thinking about all sorts of stuff.

One is a character in Nick Harkaway‘s Gnomon, who has a disorder that means she perceives the world through effectively her own simulation: it’s close enough to the real world that she can function in it, but it’s skewed somewhat from reality, and occasionally she will veer hard left into paranoid attacks that leave her incapable of functioning.

And that in turn made me think of a New York Times journalist called Pico Iyer, who’s acquired—calling it a mythos would be to give it a green car seat—let’s call it a debris cloud of assumptions. He’s lived in Japan for 25 years but doesn’t speak the language because it would impede his sense of wonder at the place, apparently lives on a tourist visa that he renews every three months by presumably exiting the country and returning, And I assume he has facilitators to handle his interactions with the mechanisms of life.

What got me thinking about this was the chapter earlier in Craig’s book about his feelings on coming to Japan for the first time and finding how it worked so differently from the hollowing out US manufacturing town that he grew up in, this sense of being able to perceive the world as the same but it not working how our assumptions might tell us.

And that leads to the suspicion about Iyer that he’s seeing something and interpreting it through his own filter but getting it wrong because he doesn’t actually understand what’s there unless it’s explained to him in English (I guess he’s also ignoring things like Google Translate’s camera function, and remaining wilfully ignorant).

There’s also a sort-of parallel with what we do when we make software, in that we drag the world into a simulation (not in the Elon Musk sense) that’s an idealised millimetre left of the real world, hopefully without the paranoid attacks. The unfortunately valid assumption here is that software can try to impose a worldview, to make policy (yes DOGE, this means you) when it ought to be facilitating.

All of this also led me in a bit of a non sequitur to think about the UK Labour government’s approach to immigration policymaking, which seems to follow the trash panda model whereby you assimilate all of the garbage that’s floating around in your environs and then shit it out as policy. The fact that they could talk about an “island of strangers” without critically thinking about the resonance with Enoch Powell‘s rivers of blood suggests a bunch of people who are also living in their own simulation and trying to drag the world to something that may be several more millimetres left of where it actually is, or at least that’s where their imagined voter lives.

Why is it that we should demonise immigrants? It isn’t that hard to realise that when inequality peaks and none of the money is at the bottom, it’s easier to blame somebody for that than to redistribute the wealth. But the fact that it’s easy to blame immigrants and other marginalised communities means that there is a residual fear of and resentment of the other bubbling under and waiting to be tapped into. It would be good if our society could learn to cope with migration and the assimilation of outside influence without treating it as some sort of pathogen.

Okok more specifically I did want to ask about the trio! I'm curious about them... and since I've played fnf but it's Been Years I AM also very curious about their place over there nowadays. so, asking about both of those! Sorry if that's. A lot to put in one answer though whoops-

OKAY OKAY YAAYAYAYAYY so (wall of text under read more)

Going over the characters, they all have their fun facts and lore tidbits and motifs. This info is gonna be stuff that can be gathered from games or their character profiles, which considering the age of it's questionable on how they hold up with their modern iterations but for the sake of this we're treating everything as canon. let's start with Nene. As I said she's the chronically suicidal lovergirl, always wanting to kms and boy crazy. God bless. She's a sadomasochist, ADHD, and most commonly associated with knives. Her debut game, Nene's Interactive Suicide, follows her waking up after a night from kissing up a boy to find out she has herpes and she decides the answer to her problems is to kys, and the player is to help her decide how to do so. She's Asian, while generally unclear of the specifics esp in her early iterations, she nowadays seems to be specifically painted as Korean. It's also possible she's Christian, or at the least raised in a Christian household, as she has a bible in her room and she prays to god to kill her. She also seems to have an interest in psychology! Tom Fulp said that if she had went to college she would have studied it, so she could figure herself out and also help others

Darnell as I've said is the super genius pyromaniac. All three are generally smart, but Darnell is the smartest out of them by far. He's most commonly associated with fire and explosives obv, as per his pyromania, and he also seems to be quite the sadist. Well a guy's gotta have hobbys I can't complain. While he wasn't present in Pico's school, he is Referenced. When Pico interacts with the locked school doors he says "they lock us in here during class so we can't escape, they're just lucky that Darnell hasn't started a fire in here!", and in a hallway there is a poster of Darnell running for class president with the tagline "I only have five years to live!" Which was an obvious lie. He also suffers from chronic migraines and is described as hormonal. His debut in Darnell Plays With Fire follows Darnell enthusiastically talking about his love for fire and explosions, blowing up a building and cheerily smiling as undoubtedly many people get injured and die, and then when he spots a plane crash in the distance he goes to investigate it just for it to blow up and him get trapped under the rubble and presumably die. Sad! Fulp said that if Darnell went to college he would've majored in Chemistry, because of his love for accelerants

PICO. MY SON. THE LEGEND. I already told you about his debut in Pico's School, the once passionate and popular kid turned paranoid gun nut. We love to see it. He's most associated with guns, dual Uzi's especially, and is described as obsessive, schizophrenic, an insomniac, homicidal, and has dreams of being a DJ. Stuff like this is actually interesting, because it shows how way back in 1999 the Pico characters had a mild music association, whether it be Pico wanting to be a DJ or how throughout the years the characters were featured on the Newgrounds audio portal, so seeing them come such a long way to actually featuring in a rhythm game now is so fun and awesome, it's like he reached his dream in a way :] he is depicted as a weed smoker, and in the description of a 420 sticker its kind of implied he does it to cope ("it can't be that bad if it comes from a plant, besides, it helps with the shakes"), it's unclear if it's to do with stress, his psychiatric conditions, or something else, but either way this kid is going through alloooot man. He's got so many problems. It also seems he has a bad relationship with his dad, in Tom Fulps Pico 2 demo he says "my dad loves that car more than he loves me! I hope he crashes the damn thing into a wall!" , Fulp said that if he went to college he would've majored in computer science. In his modern iteration it seems to also be implied that he's mexican (his FNF results songs have Spanish lyrics, references the mexican dish pozole, Pico is a spanish name)

Now WHEN IT COMES TO FNF.... For one the Pico characters are all fully grown up in FNF. Yay! Passage of time! They work as mercenaries and are majorly broke

Their story is basically that Daddy Dearest (Girlfriends dad), after being humiliated by Boyfriend, hires them to kill Boyfriend. Except EXCEPT PICO AND BOYFRIEND ARE EXES. PICO IS QUEER #YEP And so when Pico turns up to do the job and finds out who he's meant to kill, he ends up not going through with it and instead jams out with Boyfriend (Week 3). This of course pisses Nene and Darnell Off, because as mentioned they are brooooke they need that money man. But they get a second chance! So comes week 7, and what does Pico do? HE SAVES HIM FROM MORTAL DANGER. ACTIVELY DOING THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT HES MEANT TO DO. this leads to a failed job and no money, and now Nene and Darnell are ANGRYYYY. so comes WeekEnd 1, where we follow Pico fighting for his life with Nene and Darnell are out to get him for betraying them. However after some brawling they punch their feelings out and they make up YAYYY!!!! It does seem we'll get a lot more of them in the future, with their own storyline in the full game, but as of now dis is what we got and I'm so happy. I love them so
