the thing about the queer media tournament that really gets me is that last i checked there wasn't a single mxtx work on it. like not even the untamed made it in and don't get me wrong the og mo dao zu shi books are huge but cql is def more popular among tumblr circles. idk it just really rubs me the wrong way how every single piece of western media that ppl have ever gotten a lil bit aggressive abt shipping with is there and then for east asian media there's utena and madoka magica and the handmaiden and last i checked that was pretty much it. and then for the rest of the world there's next to/nothing but idk enough to really make judgements there.

beej has shades of ursula in this in that hes got weird ocean magic and can allow lydia to turn into a merperson- she doesnt agree for a while due to not trusting weird sea demons with ominous pacts but eventually gets fed up and relents. they have fun tormenting the local seaside town together

beejs main pitch to her in this au is like 'hey yknow what'd REALLY scare your dad. if you went missing at sea with me. cmon bestie' and when lyds stops entertaining this notion because as much fun as shes having, she doesnt really want to do that- he decides well IM going up on land then >:( and thats when he starts conspiring to make a second deal with her to Get Legs (and also maybe revenge on former friends who start ditching him)

People have argued about league vs dota way too much when they’re honestly both fun mobas in their own right. But I heavily favor league of legends for one reason: the ratio of female characters to male characters in league of legends is roughly 2:3 which isn’t good, but in dota it’s an abysmal 1:5. If you want to play a female character in league you have at least one option for every role and most character archetypes, if you want to play a female character in dota your options are limited to scantily clad mages, scantily clad marksmen, scantily clad supports or one of two woman in armor who fight melee (1 of which was released only like 1 year ago). Not to say that league of legends is respectful to women, hell some of its designs are arguably far worse in terms of over sexualization than dota, but the key factor here is that THERE ARE ACTUALLY PLAYABLE WOMEN IN LEAGUE

Disregarding everything else that was already pretty surreal, this was just.. flabbergastingly strange?

Me and the group i was with walked into like.. a fun house type situation, and found ourselves in a short bright yellow hallway with kinda dingey lighting and on the walls were these little glass panels

And behind each panel was a box with its own top-down light

And a little miniature bathtub.

Each bathtub with filled with a different kind of soup. And as you walked past and viewed each window the tub would drain the liquid portion of its contents, leaving behind any solid chunks. The box would then go Completely black, and the tub would be full again when the light came on.

Each little window had a placquard next to it explaining what kind of Soup was in there in the same way a museum has artists statements next to displayed pieces.

They were all also like.. two feet off the ground so you really had to bend down to see 'em.

It was Very bizarro Backrooms vibes

The ducks are still afraid of me, but they come running over when they hear me and they follow me around. They run away from me if I try to pick them up or if I start walking towards them. Sometimes they eat grass seeds and pellets out of my hand if I offer them...or they bite my fingers.
