This might be a hot take, but I actually like that Percy figured out Luke was the traitor at the last minute. There were A LOT of clues that would’ve been hard to ignore, and he ignored them for as long as he could. And it’s clear that even after accusing Luke, he’s still surprised and heartbroken at Luke’s confirmation of his suspicions. He was holding out hope, guys!!

Also, the Betrayal Scene flows better as an exchange of dialogue and a swordfight than it did, in the books, as a monologue and a scorpion sting. This also leaves a bigger impact on the viewers and characters because it’s more emotional.

There is something so soft about Annabeth giving Percy her necklace and Grover giving him a squashed tin can before the Ares fight

I honestly think by stressing this whole “Forbidden Kid” deal, the show also allows me to cut Posedion more slack for not being there was Percy when he’s younger.

It’s too dangerous—he can’t be there for Percy. As we’re seeing in these last two episodes of the season, it was too dangerous to even TALK to Percy, because Zeus would not hesitate to KILL him.

Hey guys, so we know that Luke didn’t literally cut a slice through the protective veil in the books. It makes me wonder if maybe that’s going to have something to do with how the veil and Thalia’s tree are hurt in the show’s version of Sea of Monsters. If so, I feel like Luke specifically using backbiter as a way to cut through the veil and arguably Thalia at the same time that Annabeth catches him in the betrayal is just so much more devastating than the way it’s done in the books. Like, he really betrayed them both in one single act. With a sword named Backbiter.

Percys “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to” was like a stab to the gut. The poor boys actively being stabbed in the back and he can’t wrap his head around it and he just wants his friend to be okay.

You could literally see Annabeth’s crush on Percy increase in her eyes as he proceeded to fight and beat Ares. The admiration… I love it.
