This excerpt from the letter Elminster sends to God!Gale post game has had me in a sadness chokehold for DAYS. I knew Gale was young when he was scouted as a new potential Chosen but he was EIGHT??? Eight years old. A child. A baby. And he was accidentally destroying property with fireballs that young? That boy was a sorcerer. The way that one moment changed the trajectory of his entire life.

Elminster watched a little boy cry over ruined flowers and so many years later finally feels regret.

#and I hope it haunted him til the end of his days #this all but confirms my hc that Gale was born a sorcerer #what human 8 year old is casting fireball accidentally or otherwise #his wizard training refined his innate sorcery and made him a ‘prodigy’#which isn’t to say he isn’t deserving of that title because he is incredibly intelligent and has A Way with magic #but I do think he was More than a wizard #and I also think that’s what saved his life when the orb happened #it ate through his innate power which satisfied it enough to spare Gale’s life #at least long enough to get through that first horrible year #it’s dire again by the time tav meets him because it’s burned through all of Gale’s natural magic #so the man tav pulls out of the portal is for the first time JUST a wizard #(how long does Gale mourn that lost part of himself without knowing what he’s mourning)#anyway #I sad #bg3 #baldur's gate 3 #gale of waterdeep #mine

It's such a phenomenal show and had me emotionally wrecked by the final episode. I don't think I've cried that hard for a show in a very long time. It's so beautiful and a perfect Trek show!
