There is one very specific song that I hear that makes me think of the witchlight krew and that song is called Bedlam Ballroom by Squirrel Nit Zippers. Like, the whole vibes are just exactly what they have. Squirrel Nut Zippers also have a ton of Gideon and Kremy songs, I think Lover's Lane is definitely my favorite. They have a lot of vibey songs about love that aren't always love songs that also make me think of those two idiots. I mean, Kremy makes me think of jazz and I think he'd actually hate some of their music, lol, but it totally makes me think of him. Like, Hell is a song made for Kremy.

This is definitely an excuse for me to talk about my all time favorite band, but I'm telling you, they've got some good shit. None of this is accurate, it's all vibes because the band is always on my mind, but I will be doing a coalecroux piece inspired by Lover's Lane.

Literally losing my mind over Ross Bryant's case for Swing revival on Smartypants, having lived through the absolute heart of it back in the day. You don't even know. Our school orchestra had a ska band on the side. Our choir/show choir choreo had a whole bunch of swing moves. Even me, being a metal/punk/80s rock/goth child got into it, I had BBVD and Squirrel Nut Zippers.

Until my mother did.

Then the genre was abandoned.

the 90s also had that year with the ska revival and the year with the swing dance revival and the trends were really close together so that there were bands that were basically a mashup of the two in some weird way

Oh my, what a delightful little cartoon! A bit odd yet endearing. I loved the jazz bit of it. There is a certain charm to older bizarre looking cartoons that have a certain pizazz to it. I quite enjoyed the picture show and the music paired together surprisingly!

YEAH MY MAX SAMANDMAX PLAYLIST unfortunately it is private and im scared far too scared by far so consider this a tour through some of my proudest sections.

I'd summarize this mix as a hearty blend of post-punk, metal, lounge, and the stupidest music on the planet. An oldie but a goodie

I have a couple art pieces in the oven rn, but i was inspired for another two by more Squirrel Nut Zippers songs (im smashing my two favorite things against each other)

obviously we have a coalecroux song because its a must. The song is very lovey dovey and can be seen as one of those songs where they're both singing but they think its an unrequited love. this specific version of the song is lovely (totally listen to the whole album because its a live recording) and idk, its just a good love song period.

this one is a torbek song. idk how else to put it, thats just what i hear. all the warnings of something happening soon, being unable to truly connect with the outside world, its just torbek and the other, jimbo's (the singer, he's great, I love how he and Katharine (the female singer in the other song) sing) screaming, "transformations in the air/ are the heavens conspiring to show me this new thing/ or has it always been there?"
