A Linked Universe meets The Dark Crystal AU! I don't even remember what started it at this point. I remembered that the Dark Crystal and Age of Resistance are things I like, blinked, and woke up three days later with an AU and a bunch of art.
The designs and the story are a wip and for fun so expect a lot of variation! (I have a few different beginnings, ideas for different designs, etc)! :D
In addition to #linked universe I'll be using the tags #the dark crystal lu au and #courage of the dark crystal!

Geology Rocks: Dravite Tourmaline
Dravite Tourmaline is one of the three major types of Tourmaline, along with Schorl (black) and Elbaite (multi-colored).  Dravite Tourmalines are typically brown, yellow or green, and are rich in magnesium and sodium. Tourmaline is found around the world.  Dravite is one of the main varieties and comes in several colors, most notably yellow, brown and green. Notable deposits for Dravite Tourmaline include Australia, Austria, Brazil, India, Italy, Nepal, Switzerland, Tanzania, and the United States.
Spiritual Meaning:
Dravite is a strong grounding stone. It has a soothing, relaxing, and reassuring effect on your body, as well as on your heart and mind. Dravite Tourmaline gently nurtures self-compassion and healing after trauma. If we have become emotionally numb, Dravite Tourmaline helps us to feel again.

Precision-shaped Cu₂O crystals unlock new potential for clean energy catalysts
Can the shape of a crystal really change how well it performs in clean energy technology? A new study says yes—decisively. Researchers from National Taiwan University, National Tsing Hua University, and National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University have discovered that the performance of a widely studied catalyst, cuprous oxide (Cu2O), in oxygen reduction reactions (ORR) depends heavily on which crystal face is exposed. The paper is published in the Journal of Materials Chemistry A. Oxygen reduction is a central reaction in fuel cells, which are devices that convert chemical energy into electricity. Platinum is commonly used in this role but is expensive and limited in supply. Cu2O, a more affordable alternative, has now shown surprising potential—if used with the right shape.

one of the biggest questions i feel folks on tumblr are always trying to answer is "how do i be better? how do i get to the next level of witchcraft? how do i access advanced stuff?" and the thing is, babes, is that that shit isn't external.
you become an "advanced witch" when you stop categorising topics as beginner or intermediate or advanced! there are no rules.
a lot of people make an effort to warn so-called "baby witches" away from different types of magick - "don't do love magick or hexing ever! don't contact X deity until you've been practicing for a year! you have to have been practicing for at least a month to do a spell!" - why? what does that achieve, apart from perpetuating fear mongering and policing others religion?
it comes from this idea that there's a right way to practice, and more importantly, that if you fuck something up then that's sacrilege. if you give a deity the wrong offering they'll be angry with you (and that's the end of that relationship). if you do a love spell without considering the effects then you'll do irreparable damage and be shamed!! you must follow these ideas, that crystals and tarot and candles (conveniently all the things that require you to spend money) are "beginner-friendly" and everything that our ancestors would have done is too advanced for you.
whatever experience you're on is personal to you. no-one knows more than you about your practice than you. if you wanna do a hex, some post on tumblr shouldn't going to stop you. if you fuck it up, you'll learn!
and frankly, witchblr would be a better place if we stopped looking at everything as a strict guide to follow, and as a place where we all share what our practice looks like, and approach each other with curiosity instead of pride and superiority.

Person reading this can you tell me your favorite story and why it was the way that it was.
#.txt#I'm overthinking narrative structure but I can't think of what I would say. I just finished a Tarantino movie#So I am thinking of the genres it came from.#Westerns feel so definitive of at least like American cinema. Even though she was mostly Italian. And I've been very Italian cinema pilled#I enjoy a bit of unravelling but more so as developing context naturally rather than a twist#I think I have to go pick Stalker because I keep going back to it.#If not just for porcupines story. The professor is also really interesting. And the author is more so a typical author to me but he provide#A certain enrichment for everyone involved.#Twin peaks I enjoy framing as a medieval heros story that fell apart for meta textual reasons.#There are other stories I'm thinking of that I think we're told we'll but not scratching the itch I'm having#Which I think would mostly be defined as a detective story which twin peaks for sure falls under but why am I thinking about stalker.#I feel like understanding motivations of the characters in the movie is very interesting and it's certainly mysterious but it's not really#A mystery. There is a central unknown. It's got that post war feel which is very noir.#But other key things don't really line up the more I think about it.#Any way all this started because Crystal Plumage was so good on a way that I want to compare it directly to blue velvet#Neither story is anything that like. Nothing was SURPRISING. But coming to understand the people in them was more mysterious than anything.#Rossilini vs renzi's characters especially.. I like them very much.#And also beautiful visual set pieces and the performances and the perversion#I'm thinking on it!!#I've talked a lot about movies I think I need to find a book that has an interesting structure to it...#Not house of leaves interesting but like Shakespeare. Solid ass foundation where everything has a purpose.#Though I'll be honest I've never had a heightened emotional reaction to a Shakespeare play idk if that should be factored into my brain#If you read all my rubber ducking tags thank youuu sorry!!

Important question: what is your favorite variety of quartz?
OH THAT'S A GOOD QUESTION
fuck
Okay. I'm going to strike opal, obsidian, and the agates as non-crystalline, which is unfortunate because I'd say opal.
Tumblr media
I'm going to go out on a limb and say inclusions within quartz are not actually 'quartz' though which strikes out half of these... Hm...
I think it's between Ametrine and Phantom Quartz... But phantom quartz shows growth patterns! Plus you can get little minerals inside, dusting the top. Phantom Quartz wins for me, I think~
removing my arbitrary criteria to re-include the agates: I really like moss agate and Aussie fire opals.
