while i’m on the screw major companies kick, i’d like to add in an enthusiastic screw you to amazon, and walmart, but mostly amazon.
two of the major local grocery store companies that are in my town are merging because amazon is driving them out of business. (albertsons and kroger) I have my own personal grievances with albertsons from working at jewel for a few years a few years back, but i’d rather not see them go down because of amazon.
#you wanna knock jewel down a peg because of how they over work their employees and are severely understaffed? go right ahead#also that i'm sure they're still very underpaid because i was all three of those and that's why i quit#for context i worked as a florist there. where when i was hired we were a team of 3 but when one of us left they never hired anyone new#so it was 2 people running an entire department alone#i was working on average 60 hour weeks with no breaks and would have to skip my lunch often cause i had to run home to care for my mom#i was never trained as a designer even though they dangled the option in front of me constantly but just never signed off on it#but i was designing floral arrangements most of the day every day#i was doing manager work while being only an associate in title and they consistently refused to give me a raise so i was stuck at $8 an hou#i was sexually harassed and when reporting it to the store manager he told me that it'd be an anonymous report#and then proceeded to make the person i reported apologize to my face at work while on work hours#so of course now the whole store knew i reported him#i kept bothering both my lead at the time and the store manager to hire at least one more person for our team but neither did so#and when speaking about how i wanted better hours and a raise my lead at the time laughed it off saying she didn't get paid much either#so i ended up quitting#and when the store manager begged me to stay i told him i would if he would give me a good raise and better hours#and when he just went quiet i just said 'then i'm sorry but i'm not changing my mind'#the team next to ours had a really cool lead and he'd help me out now and then. the rest of the store thought he was mean though lol#but like all that? that's stuff i'd rather see jewel get hit because of. not because of amazon of all places

v3 ch3
For an ask game.
Ooh, I have a lot of thoughts on v3-3, full spoilers ahead.
Hard mode: Honestly? Contains some of my favorite individual moments in v3. I think there's a reason so many fics take place somewhere during v3-3: you have some intrigue in the student council v rest-of-the-class dynamic, a cast that's lost its most down-to-earth members that helped keep the group as a whole grounded (Kaede may as well have been the class rep; Rantaro, for as little as we see of him he has a knack for getting even the most unruly of the class to calm down; Kirumi was team-mom (with complexity therein, of course, but she deliberately took up the role); Ryoma had this cool-headed temperament that could probably have helped counterbalance some of the emotional highs later in the game) and the reality of their situation is undeniable. Plus, the fact that this chapter had the stones to give Kokichi a concussion and everything the complete lack of response to it means for/around him as a character. That's its own rant, man.
Also Spirit, Praise, and Beauty slaps tbh. I got used to playing videos at 1.5-2x speed, try it with this song it sorta goes from jam to bop imo.
Easy mode: so much missed potential. It’s not exactly a hot take I don’t like what they ultimately did with Kiyo, but v3-3’s single biggest issue for me (besides poor taste) is that it brings up genuinely interesting new territory and proceeds to squander it for shock value.
I’m not the first and won’t be the last to posit 3-3 should have been our first instance of two isolated culprits going off at the same time. I would've loved to see Kiyo survive as just a weird, suspicious but ultimately benign anthropologist, but see. Even with all things as they currently are, someone else killing Angie would have offered us more opportunity to develop the theme of the chapter: ways of coping with grief. (I also really like that this chapter has such a well-defined theme, even if I wish it delivered it differently; the concept offers a lot for character development, and to not commit to taking it is a shame.)
Like, v3-3 gets flack for Tenko's death being nonsensical, but I think it's actually very poignant for those same reasons! Only, unfortunately, a lot of the nuance is left to subtext. Tenko's death has next-to nothing to do with Tenko herself: Himiko almost became the medium, after all, and Kiyo eventually admits any girl besides Maki or Miu would suffice. Her death is all about the elaborate mechanism. It's alarmingly impersonal, tailored to be a chronic killer's magnum opus. How else does one come up with something like the seesaw effect? It's posturing. He was showing off. And Kiyo doesn't exactly have an incredibly macho persona like Kaito, or anything, but that exact kind of insecurity gone out of control resulting in violence against a girl? Is EXACTLY something Tenko would abhor. It adds insult to injury! And if Kiyo hadnt killed Angie incidentally, he'd have gotten away with it. They would have to live with him, and he would have to live with himself and a very visibly grieving Himiko. Holy shit the drama there.
Kiyo did not care about getting caught, at that point. He could probably have gotten away with just killing Angie, honestly, his game-persona was written to have done this sorta thing a lot and the leads weren't clear enough to pin him beyond doubt as culprit without the second crime... but that second crime was important to him. More important than fulfilling his sister's order, more important than seeing another day beyond the game. "It was stupid of him to do!" yes, full of hubris, and-or just not giving a fuck anymore. There's even a moment where he's talking to himself toward the end of the trial where 'sister' chastises him for getting greedy; he knows and does not care. Which becomes even more interesting with what we learn in chapter 6, if we can believe what we're told, and the kids are functionally fabricated before the game... making this probably a case where 'actor does not fit character', so to speak, and the distress and pressure of coercion probably felt real, to him. It's a huge can of worms, and we dwell on none of them. As far as 'chapter 3 breakdowns' go, again wish they didn't feel a need to have one every time, but Kiyos... reads really sad, to me, in a way the previous ones weren't. Minding the subtext of familial abuse and analyzing it, it's just... seriously harrowing. I just really wish DR gave things the gravitas they deserve instead of clocking the audience in the face with them between jokes and telling us to figure it out.
But I've been talking about Kiyo, because the crimes of the chapter really are just about Kiyo. Angie, a character the narrative had been building up to for a chapter plus by that point, is in the wrong place at the wrong time thinking she could easily outwit potential culprits working at night by manipulating the class. Tenko volunteers for what turns out to be a glorified Saw trap (both cruel and ironic!) to spare Himiko the emotional turmoil of potentially not speaking to her late close friend, because Tenko cares so much and so deeply. They're mirrors of one another, in many ways, mind vs. heart, brain v. brawn, etc. through their talents and actions, and it is a damn shame to lose them this unceremoniously.
BUT. Here's the hot take:
That should have been the point.
The narrative should have lingered, through its text, on the tragedy of these two bright girls being slain as an afterthought. Not just as sacrifices for Himiko's development, but as prime examples in how damn cruel the game really is. Angie and Tenko both had trajectories to fulfill, and they did not get to. We don't see the student council again, really; we should. We don't see active mourning (or even struggling not to) for the person who was always eager to lend a hand to everyone else (even the menaces, which was a much better pun than the official translation and significantly less grating) from anyone but Himiko. We don't even do that much with Kokichi calling out Himiko for only starting to visibly give a shit after Angie and Tenko were gone, an incredibly salient point they bring up and just. Don't dig very deep into?? Not that Himiko is an awful character or anything, but the opportunities.
Wish they'd been more tactful, but I honestly kinda like v3-3.
If nothing else we still have seesaw memes, right?

Trust You to Cheapen the Moment
George Weasley x Reader
This story is inspired from a request of my F.R.I.E.N.D.S Themed Prompt List.
Prompts: 8 & 12
"Come on, [y/n or Character] just take off your shirt and tell us!"/"you're over me? When were you...under me?"
Warnings: Sexual innuendo. Swearing.
Tumblr media
"Congratulations on a great game tonight boys!" Lee Jordan called as Fred and George entered through the portrait hole, still sporting their Quidditch uniforms which were currently soaked in sweat.
"Thanks mate" the Twins replied in unison.
The match had been against Ravenclaw and although Gryffindor naturally won, it hadn't been an easy feat. One which involved George coping a rather nasty bludger to the ribs. As such their win inevitably concluded with a stern lecture from their team Captain, Oliver Wood who remarked their performance as "sloppy". This being the reason as to why they were late to their own victory party.
"Well, hello boys" [Y/N] called as she made her way toward the three boys by the entrance, accompanied by a friend of her own. "Playing a tad messy these days, aren't we?" She goaded with a cheeky grin.
"Oh, alright [Y/N]! Red Hot you are. Sounding frightfully like our beloved Captain." Fred replied as everyone laughed.
[Y/N]s attention fixed to George as her face wore a notably more sincere expression. "How you feeling, Georgie?" "Like I took a bludger to the guts." He chuckled somewhat painfully. "I'll live, just need a good hot shower and to get out of this sweat drenched uniform." He tugged at the tight fabric which clung uncomfortably to his skin.
"I'll happily help you out of it, if you find yourself in need of a spare set of hands?" [Y/N] wriggled her eyebrows. Smiling at his friends innuendo George ran his tongue over his bottom lip before raising his own brows, as if contemplating the girls offer.
"Yeah, alright you two, wrap it up!" Fred intervened pushing the pair back by their shoulders as if stopping a fight. "George, as much as I'm with you on that shower and change idea, need I remind you we have a...previous engagement to attend to." He pointedly looked to his brother.
"What 'previous engagement'" Lee questioned.
"Super secret Weasley Twin Business." Fred winked.
"I can't believe you're leaving me out of your super secret twin business!" Lee protested, feigning dejection.
"Sorry, Lee" George offered a consoling smile. "Forget you. What about ME!" [Y/N] interrupted. "Come off it, there's no way you planned a prank without me..."
"But we did" they shrugged. "It's nothing for you to worry your pretty little head over" George teased with a pout. "What is it?" Lee asked, but the two remained quiet.
"Oh, come on, George. Just take off your shirt and tell us!" [Y/N] spat with a wicked grin. George stepped toward her slowly placing both of his large hands either side of her jaw and peering into her eyes. He leant down so his mouth was centimetres from her skin, whispering into her ear "Not happening, lovely." His hands slid down her neck, passing over her shoulders before finally retreating at they met her elbows. He smiled at the ever so faint blush that fanned her cheeks. "Okay, fine. So you won't tell us. But seriously...where'd we land on the shirt situation?" [Y/N] yanked on the uniform fabric playfully while biting her lip.
"Oh would you two just fuck already! This whole teasing thing makes my stomach turn." The other Weasley rolled his eyes before grabbing hold of his brothers wrist, "come on, lover boy. We've got mischief to attend to." He pulled George away from the group of friends, but not before he was able to send a suggestive wink to [Y/N] over his shoulder.
Fred did have a point when you thought about it. [Y/N] and George had been friends since first year after spending a day in detention together for being caught out past curfew, for separate reasons. [Y/N] and the Twins always had a playful relationship and it seemed impossible for them to go more than three minutes without making a joke or coming up with some new prank idea or bet between the three of them. The relationship between [Y/N] and George however, over the years, became substantially more provocative. Never becoming physical by any means, mainly they just threw a lot of innuendos toward one another. Just a bit of harmless, totally platonic, flirting really.
It'd been that way since their fourth year which makes it a few years now that Fred has found himself uncomfortably situated between the two obviously pining best friends, whom continuously deny any such feelings of course.
While the Twins had set off on their...other business, that left the remaining three to enjoy the Post-match festivities currently unfolding within the Gryffindor common room.
A little while into the celebrations, [Y/N] and her friend found themselves accompanied by some of the more eligible bachelors of Gryffindor Tower, about ankle deep in discarded Butterbeer and Fire Whiskey bottles.
"Come on, [Y/N] how's about a dance?" Dustin, a rather attractive boy she knew, spoke with an endearing smile gracing his face. "Flattered as I am by your proposal, I must decline." She slurred. "Why not?" The boy reached for her hand tracing small circles on the soft skin with his thumb while he stared into her eyes. "Because I don't fucking want to." The girl laughed retracting her hand from his. "Excuse us, won't you boys?" Her friend stood, pulling [Y/N] up with her. "Uh-oh...I'm in trouble" she faked concern before breaking into giggles as she was pulled from the common room.
Finding herself promptly being dragged down a flight of stairs into the adjoining corridor which, given the time, was obviously eerily abandoned.
"What's the matter with you?"
"Uuhh you mean aside from the fact my buzz was just absolutely murdered after being ripped away from a party I was thoroughly enjoying? Not much." She rolled her eyes. "I mean, why do you keep turning Dustin down? You know he fancies you! Why not give him a chance?" Her friends voice was sincere and a little giddy as she questioned. "Because I am not interested in Dust Bin." [Y/N] doubled over in laughter at her own joke. Latching on firmly to her friends shirt in an attempt to remain upright. Cackling styled laughter reverberated off the deserted corridor walls as [Y/N] was being shushed and told to compose herself. "Quiet [Y/N]!" her friend giggled at the state of her. "Is it, you're not interested in Dustin, because you're still hung up on George?" "Pffft, Pah-LEASE I am so over George." She slurred with a dramatic shove of the friends shoulder.
"You're over me?" The words called from behind her and like a cool breeze on the nape of her neck chills ran sharp through her spine. [Y/N]'s eyes widened while the friend infront of her smiled brightly, sending a taunting wave her way before disappearing back up the stairs to the common room. "When were you...under me?" The girl couldn't bring herself to turn around, she could practically hear that devious smirk playing on his voice. Her body was rigid as her blood ran cold. Talk about a sobering experience. Shutting her eyes tightly to muster the courage she tentatively began to turn her body, facing the boy with a painfully embarrassed grimace.
"You heard too much of that for me to get out of this on some elaborate lie, didn't you?"
"Yep." George stood smugly before her. Hands deep in his trouser pockets as he'd obviously had that shower and change he were so desperately craving. He looked good. White button up with the sleeves scrunched above his elbows haphazardly and a lazy Gryffindor tie around his neck. [Y/N] found herself having to swallow a lump in her throat at the sight. "Right from the rather insensitive comment made of my good mate...Dust Bin." The ginger chuckled taking a few steps forwards.
[Y/N] let out a long, defeated, sigh turning her head over her shoulder in thought. Her jaw clicked as she contemplated her next words carefully. If only she could think of anything to say. She was fumbling over various syllables, all of which were incoherent. George laughed at her nervousness and held a hand out for her to take, "Come here." He spoke softly. What else was there to lose? She accepted and felt as her body warmed from the feeling of his hand gripping hers tightly.
Neither said a word as George lead her quietly further away from the Gryffindor Tower. It wasn't until they approached the Astronomy Tower stair case [Y/N] made to speak, but was promptly shushed. 'You'll see' he told her.
The Weasley stopped at the top most stair, watching her as he slowly opened the door leading to the balcony. Eyes never leaving her face, smiling sweetly as he witnessed her expression shift slowly from one of bewilderment to awe.
Laid out in front of them was an abundance of pillows, set upon a thick blanket, surrounded by various sweet platters and floating candles like the ones in the Great Hall only much smaller. [Y/N]s hands sprang to her mouth in shock, she'd never seen such a romantic setting. Staring from the picnic to the stars that shone so brightly over head, with every Galaxy and Constellation clearly visible, she was lost for words. A startled gasp was the only noise to peirce her lips silence.
George watched fondly at the sparkle held within her eyes. Nothing but love in his as he stepped behind her, hands gently resting on her shoulders to move her forward. He nestled into the side of her neck while he walked her slowly so he could whisper in her ear, "I had actually planned on telling you first, tonight, about how I feel. But it seems you've unwilling stolen my chance." "Oh George..."
"I know, it's bloody good right?" He commented cockily. "Come on. Sit."
"So I take it this was the super secret twin business you had to attend to?" She said smiling as he made himself comfortable beside her gazing towards the sky.
"Yep. That and Fred wanted to set off some Dung Bombs in Snapes office. He's down there now." [Y/N] began to laugh and she suddenly captured every ounce of Georges attention. It's in moments like this he found her most beautiful. When she were genuinely happy. "You shouldn't have gone through all this trouble." She spoke earnestly. "You're worth it."
"That's so cheesey."
"You love cheese!"
"I do don't I?"
The two laughed, [Y/N]s head dropping as she did so before George raised her attention back to him with a finger placed delicately under her chin.
"[Y/N], I've liked you for so long now that I-I can't even remember when I realised. I just...did. You mean so much to me that it's scary" he was kneeling before her now. Hands grasping hers, "and I don't want to hear that you're over me because I don't think that I will ever be able to get over you." [Y/N] was staring fixedly into his eyes, heart thundering in her ears. Unable to believe this were happening. "I fall for you a little more everyday. I fall with every smile. Every laugh. Every sleazy innuendo you throw my way. I can't help falling and I just couldnt go another day without knowing if there were even a possibility that you may feel the same way. If you fall for me the same way I do for you. It's why I took that hit today, on the pitch, I was so distracted about tonight that I-"
"You saying that was my fault are you? That you got hurt." [Y/N] was smiling widely, eyes glistening with tears she knew were unlikely to fall but were there nonetheless.
"Ab-so-LUTE-ly it's your fault!" George continued her teasing with a beaming smile that shone nearly as bright as the stars above them.
"I do George. Feel the same. I'm not over you because...because there's just no getting over you."
George let out a relieved and amazed breath. He doubted he'd ever felt happier in his life than in this moment.
Both his hands came to rest either side of her face as he hastily leant his face towards hers before restraining himself. Eyes pouring into hers as hers were staring back. "Can I kiss you?" He whispered.
[Y/N] smiled softly, hands coming to lay gently on his elbows, "yes" she breathed before nodding quickly. A hand shot up behind his neck to bring their faces together, lips meeting for the first time. He pulled her into his lap swinging both arms around her waist as her free hand tugged on his tie.
[Y/N] pulled back to catch her breath while George peppered soft, frantic kisses down her jaw and neck.
"So tell me..." her head fell back in pleasure as she clung to him for support and felt as he hummed against her skin in response, "now that we've established I'm not over you. When can I get under you?" She smirked chuckling slightly. He rolled his head up to meet her gaze, staring unbelievably at her words as a reluctant smile crept across his lips. George groaned at the pun before pushing her down into the pillows, body hovering above hers as she left out a squeal at his action. Laughing in a way only George could ever make her.
"Trust you to cheapen the moment."

Meant To Be || One For Every Billion
6. By My Side | Pt 5
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It takes you just a moment to understand his last message but you're already looking up as the dots are being connected and there he is, walking towards you with a real smirk on his real face.
So when he reaches you, you immediately say, "Definitely cute." and watch his mouth drop as he blushes.
Pretty boy didn't think you'd say it, did he? People should really know better than to dare you.
Although he gathers his composure pretty fast, responding after a beat, "Not cuter than you."
You laugh and shake your head, finishing the rest of your drink before standing, "Do you want anything?"
"I'm good, I just had a milkshake from the snack bar on the corner."
He moves to let you pass by him, following your lead as you move to exit the lounge and comment, "That's how you got here so fast. Where are the others?"
"Decided to do their own things, I guess. I think Maki was tired. I don't know what Iwa-chan and Mattsun are up to."
"Uh huh." You had a pretty good idea. They're probably busy being some of the best wingmen ever. That or Toru just ditched his friends, but you don't think he'd really ever do that.
But he'd also be complaining a little more that they ditched him if he didn't have some sort of idea so... you don't know what to think. Which is becoming a constant issue in his presence but it doesn't feel bad or scary.
At this point, you're not going to question it. If everyone is okay and happy, then you're going to focus on the now. Toru is really good at bringing that out in you, you realize as you come to a stop in the warm night air.
Turning to face him with a smile, you ask, "So, then, any requests from the birthday boy?"
His eyes light up with excitement and he responds, "Yes, but it's a surprise!"
"Okay, but.. shouldn't I be surprising you?" You question as he starts to lead you away from the lounge entrance.
"You already did! Now I know we have all night to enjoy the rest of the park."
"Or at least until it closes in a couple hours."
"Then we can gather anyone who's still up and have a party in my room!"
"Yeah, that's real ambitious. We'll see on that but- what's first?"
He stops briefly when he sees a cotton candy stall and answers in his sing-song manner, "First, something sweet for my angel."
Oh he's so cute. Seriously. But you let him buy it for you before prompting, "And now?"
"And now," he looks over at you with a satisfied smile, "we enjoy a ride down a river in a boat." He reveals, just as the two of you reach the entrance to the small, peaceful dock.
"Don't they close the river rides after dark?"
"In ten minutes, actually. So we should hurry because it'll drop us off to our next destination."
You look at him in surprise as you both join the relatively short line. Did he have this planned for before, when he thought you were going to leave? It's a little bittersweet because that's really thoughtful but, it also makes you sad to realize that would mean that maybe he thought the two of you wouldn't see each other again until the next time you visited. It also made you question... Were you unintentionally pushing him away when you visited?
Or you're just overthinking as per usual and he just puts this much effort into it every time he's spending time with a girl he might like. Right.
The two of you reach the front of the line in just a couple minutes and listen to the instructions from the staff member who tries to hand you down into the automated boat. You say 'try' because Toru's hand cuts in between and he helps you instead, giving the guy a pretty condescending smile. He's not even threatened, just.. acting like there was no other possibility because, well, it's not even a contest. You can't lie, you like it.
You settle down and he gets in after you, pretty steady himself as he elegantly plops down into the seat next to you, his arms stretching forward for a brief moment before leaning back into the seat, shifting his legs forward, and placing his hands in his jacket pockets. And whatever he just did there.. that's pretty hot too.
As your boat moves away from the dock, you're struck by the romantic atmosphere of the ride. The quiet melody of the water you're gliding through, the trees dotting the sides of the river that sway with a breeze every so often, their branches reaching towards the water like the leaves are looking for a cool, gentle place to lay. You and Toru, under the stars that are peeking slightly out of the sky, like shy observers to your secret little adventure.
He isn't saying anything either, studying the environment and in his own thoughts you suppose, but you don't mind the silence. You do, however, offer him the cotton candy, tilting the base of the cone you're holding so it's angled towards him. He pulls a hand free from his pocket to reach out and grab a tuft of the cloud-like candy before popping it in his mouth with a smile.
"Do you think about where you want to be in the future?" He's looking up at the sky, head tilted back against the seat, when you look over at his question.
You bite your lip, considering what he's asking. You think way too much about it sometimes, you suppose. "How far in the future?"
He looks over at you in surprise, like he expected a quick answer instead of your clarifying question. Now it's his turn to think. "I guess in a few years, after graduating. What do you want to do?"
"What I want to do is probably very different from where I might be, I think."
"How so?"
You're both looking at each other, lost in another bubble together, so you try to be as honest to yourself as you want to be with him, "In an ideal world, I would either write or play volleyball. Realistically, I'll end up tied to... my family business more than I'd like. Which means I likely won't have the time or energy left to do the things I love."
His eyes are wide, you think he's realized he just turned a mountain, not a rock. Maybe even you wouldn't know what to say in response to someone who just said what you did. But then he surprises you yet again, "If you know what you want to do, what stops you from making sure that's where you end up instead, no matter what?"
"You know," you smile at him softly, "That's exactly the battle I'm currently fighting. So we'll see how it turns out, I guess."
"So," his voice turns teasing, "will you pick writing or volleyball, when you win?"
"Probably writing," you answer with a laugh, releasing the weight that just took a break on your shoulders.
"Why?"
"You love volleyball, right? So much that you can't see yourself doing anything but that for the rest of your life?"
He sends another shocked, wide-eyed look your way but you're surprised he doesn't realize how clear that is to read on him, how easily you figured it out really early in the course of your correspondence this past year. You tuck that away for another day and continue your answer to his question.
"I love both like that and, the way I see it, I'm lucky to be able to love more than one thing at a time. And because I do, they'll both always have a place in the future I want. So it's not really that I'm making a choice between one or the other, I'd be incapable of that. Volleyball will always be in my life, even if it isn't the same way it is now. It's just that I'll pursue writing as my vocation while continuing to enjoy volleyball however I can."
"So you won't go pro." He doesn't state it as a question but it sounds like there's still one in there somewhere.
"I don't think so. That's... a little more complicated."
He shifts to turn more towards you, pulling another piece of the cotton candy you're holding between the two of you and encouraging, "I've seen your videos, Y/n. You're as much, if not more, talented than either of your cousins."
You laugh again, "Aren't you a little biased, Oikawa?"
"Sure, but I'm still telling you the truth as I see it. You've already filled the gaps they lack as players, you almost seem to have none. You're part of the powerhouse teams in your region, even country. And you can only improve from there."
"Yeah. But it's not talent or skill or even anything about volleyball itself that makes me so sure about its role in my life."
"Do you want to talk about it?"
"I promise, I will another day. But I know it'll be a long discussion and I want to hear your answer."
"My answer?"
"Where you want to be after you graduate."
"Don't you already know?" His lips pull up into a confident smile, "Because you said it, Y/n-chan. I can't see myself doing anything but playing volleyball for my future."
"No matter how you get there?"
"No matter how I get there." He confirms, watching you with a tilt to his head, "But I will get there."
"Of that, I have no doubt. I've seen you play, too."
And like that, his smile twists into a satisfied smirk, "Just on video, huh? You still have to come to one of my games in person, though."
"Oh, I do, do I?" You're grinning as the two of you fall back into lighthearted teasing.
"Of course. I think there's still a thing or two I could teach you."
"I'm sure. Without a doubt."
By the time the boat reaches the end of its line, the cotton candy is completely gone, much like any space between you both. The two of you are just short of leaning into each other, your sides already pretty much pressed against each other for most of the fifteen minute ride, as you and Toru talked and joked about various things with only the blinking stars and swaying trees as your witnesses.
You take a deep breath in as your boat approaches the dock, starting to pull away from him slightly, but you also catch the now-familiar scent of some product Toru uses and it smells divine. It's the sort of scent that makes you want to lean into his chest or neck and just relax while he holds you.
Oh my god. You need to slap yourself. That was pathetic, right? And after just one romantic boat ride, holy shit. You still have another hour and a half to go unless you completely bail on him. And for what? Because you caught yourself slipping? Again?
Ugh. No. You're here to be a good friend. And okay, take it slow and see what else could be between the both of you. But that shit wasn't slow.
You've pulled away, physically and metaphorically, by the time your boat docks but you still accept his hand as he helps you off, blocking the attendant yet again. He doesn't pull away though and neither do you, so you're still holding hands as you and Toru walk to your next destination.
Just taking it slow. Right... Shit.
Turns out your next destination is the carousel. You two keep switching horses, messing around until you're politely removed. After which you hit up some of the rides like the one that spins really fast so that you're pressed back against the reclined wall, or the one where you sit in a claw that swings you up, down, around, etc.
Following that, it's mini coasters and then upgraded back to some of your favourite thrill coasters from earlier in the day. You tell him it's a completely different experience at night. After the first one, he agrees. So you two hit up four more.
By the time the two of you get off the last one, teasing and laughing about who was screaming louder (it was him, obviously), you only have a little over twenty minutes left before the park closes. So your hand finds Toru's, your fingers lacing together with ease and electric familiarity by now, and you pull him along in order to run back to the hotel through the remaining crowd.
"Why are we going back?" He's barely even out of breath as he easily catches up to race beside you, but you guess neither are you. Thank you, conditioning.
"It's a surprise!"
The concierge barely startles when he sees two teens just run through, raising his hand to call out before lowering it in defeat. You're already gone anyways. You reach the elevator bay and hit the button for your floor, thankfully the door to the middle one opens immediately with a smooth tone. When the two of you get in for the ride up to the top floor, the pace steadies and you're just looking at each other while you each catch your breath, then you burst out laughing again.
"Okay so you're still not going to tell me?" There's a little bit of mock attitude in his tone but it's washed away by his genuine smile.
"Just wait."
The elevator dings as it reaches your floor and you're pulling him out with the doors barely open. The two of you reach your room and you swipe the card over the lock, opening the door, pulling you both through and closing it in swift motions before letting go of his hand and running to the balcony.
"Come on!"
You look back to encourage him forward as you open the double doors and he strolls up to your side before you both step out together. Just as you reach the rail, faint music starts to drift up from the park's speakers, getting louder and louder until you can hear its strains clearly, playing the orchestral melody that indicates the park will be closing in fifteen minutes.
It's what you can see only from up here that you wanted to show him. Because with the music that plays, there are lights quite literally at every inch of the park that turn on in an incredible show.
Many people gather on the streets or at particular locations for the ground level view. But those are always crowded and honestly a pretty limited view of the show's true scale. It's the guests who have park facing rooms and know to stop for the view from their balconies at this time that experience the true and complete nature of the stunning spectacle.
"Wow." He barely says it, it's more like a word he releases with his breath, but you're so happy knowing you were right.
This is the perfect ending to an incredibly special day that deserves no less. You and Toru stand there, side by side for the full fifteen minutes, still under the carpet of stars that seem a little closer from up here. The two of you hold hands, arms and sides pressed against each other as you both lean on the balustrade and listen to the crescendos and decrescendos, glancing at each other with smiles and the occasional comment. Sometimes pointing to a corner or edge of the park laid out beneath you to pull the other's attention with a tug on your linked hands.
And when the music starts its final rise only to move into its final descent, you look instead at Toru and find him looking back at you. With your hands still linked, you lean into him further to place a soft kiss on his cheek, mirroring the one from a year ago, this on his other side. Then you lean back to look at his flustered but happy face with a soft smile and add your wish for him to your blessing-
"Happy Birthday, Toru."

Behind The Scenes!
-ngl but that moment when Toru takes a seat in the boat was fully inspired by my memory of him at the Karasuno vs Shiratorizawa match, just after Iwa hops over the seat like wow, but then the way Oikawa stretches out from his previous position... just more wow. Sorry, I can't explain it. I love that scene (and the others with those two that follow) and I don't know if I'm the only one it stuck with like this...
A/N: Okay...time for the vent... I will be the first to say that I love Kuroo and Suna primarily, and both the Miyas are a close second.. but I DO NOT KNOW HOW OIKAWA KEEPS PULLING THIS ON ME like... this whole episode really got away from me again. I mean, I did like Oikawa as a close second to Kuroo (who's been my steady the whole time, js, it's unwavering) for a LONG time before being intro'd to Inarizaki but... then Suna just came in and turned my head until I was like.. Oikawa, who? But maybe this just goes deep, so I didn't know he was always still in there. He IS incredibly lovable after all, you can't change my mind about that, and I really respect him as a complex character and okay, yeah, I honestly can't remember who was my first between him and Kuroo at this point because I was simping for them both before I really even remembered their names (and was trying to avoid being teased by my bf for rewatching scenes with them since he had to bribe me to watch the show in the first place). Anyways, I don't know what I'm saying anymore since I desperately need to go to sleep, maybe for a whole day, so I hope you guys like this one! Because.. just, yeah. Toru <3 I guess

Bad Things Happen Bingo Masterpost!
Tumblr media
And that's a wrap on my @badthingshappenbingo card! Thanks to anybody and everybody who requested a square - this has been so, so fun! I've had this card for years and have been actively working on it for a year and a half, so it's incredible to have finally finished it 🥰
Prompts and Fills listed below the cut:
Used in Sacrifice/Ritual - Filled
you would be the one to rescue me | BBC Atlantis | Jason x Pythagoras
When Jason wakes, Pythagoras is gone.
This in itself is not so strange. What is strange, however, is that his cloak has been left behind despite there being a significant chill in the air. And when Hercules begins to wake, and there is still no sign, Jason knows.
Something's wrong.
Rage Against the Reflection - Filled
out, damned spot | 9-1-1: Lone Star | TK x Carlos
TK wakes up gasping, choking on air. The sheets are suffocating him and, when he tries to free himself, they only seem to get tighter. The hands reaching out for him, trying to calm him, are the final straw; TK throws himself from bed and sprints to the bathroom, slamming and locking the door behind him as he collapses against the sink.
On some level, he is aware that the hands were Carlos’s, that the sheets were theirs, that his hands are clean, and that the dream was just a dream.
But they weren't always that way.
Falling Through the Ice - Filled
ice in my veins | 9-1-1: Lone Star | TK x Carlos
Carlos only turns away for a second, he swears. Unfortunately, a second is clearly ample time for his boyfriend to get into trouble because when Carlos turns back around, TK is no longer standing where he left him.
Instead, there’s a sizable hole in the ice.
Flashbacks - Filled
start again from the beginning | 9-1-1: Lone Star | TK & Owen
Owen trusts his son. He’s watched TK fight his addiction and stay sober for the last six years, and he has faith that he can handle himself.
But when TK doesn’t show up for work the night after proposing to Alex, Owen knows that something is wrong. After all, they've been here before.
Branding - Filled
setting fire to our insides for fun | Supernatural | Meg x Cas
Cas had been prepared to find demons. Frankly, he would have been concerned if he didn’t find demons, given that that was his mission here. What he hadn’t been prepared for, however, was to find two demons torturing another, pressing the hot end of a branding iron into her forearm.
He killed the two torturers with practised ease, barely wasting a moment before they were both on the dirty, wooden floor, eyes burned out their sockets. Only then did he allow his surprise to catch up to him, breathing heavily as his gaze settled on someone he hadn’t seen in a long time.
Meg.
Memory Loss - Filled
focal point | 9-1-1: Lone Star | TK x Carlos
Waking up in the hospital is becoming all too familiar. Being the one in the bed is less so, but Carlos has had his fair share of hospital trips. He knows the drill.
As soon as he sees him awake, TK breaks out in harsh sobs. "Carlos," he breathes. "I... I thought I'd lost you."
Caught in an Explosion - Filled
can we skip past near death cliches? | 9-1-1: Lone Star | TK x Carlos
It’s the kind of call every first responder dreads. A bomb threat in an apartment block, civilian’s lives on the line, the whole situation a hair’s breadth away from disaster. And Carlos is right in the middle of it.
tw: explosions, bombs
Forced to Kneel/Bow - Filled
in case you don’t live forever (let me tell you now) | 9-1-1: Lone Star | TK x Carlos
His teammates were still sitting in the communal area when TK entered, eyes glued to the tv screen. Paul was the first to notice him, and TK’s concern only grew as he got everyone else’s attention, their worried gazes falling on him one by one.
“There’s a hostage situation at that big, fancy hotel across town," Marjan explained. "Apparently it’s pretty serious, they’ve had to send police in, and, um, well…”
Marjan paused, and TK felt dread wash through him, knowing what her next words would be.
“Carlos is there, TK. He’s gone in.”
tw: references to gun violence
Be Careful What You Wish For - Filled
can you beat back the night? | The Witcher | Geralt x Jaskier
He misses the bard. Geralt won’t admit it, not even to Roach, but he misses him. After months—years—of Jaskier’s constant chatter and the sound of his lute, the silence, once valued above all else, is too much.
It’s been months since the dragon, since Geralt lost both Yennefer and Jaskier in one fell swoop. He’s cursed himself many times over for the words he said—to both of them—and cursed himself more for the mistakes he made to get in this position in the first place.
*
this is the lot of witchers, to be alone.
Blood From the Mouth - Filled
I Got You | 9-1-1: Lone Star | TK x Carlos, TK & 126 Crew
“I’m just sayin’,” Judd says, waving his arms around. “Somebody’s gonna get themselves killed in there one of these days. I had to come out here three times last year because of some idiots who think they know better than the ‘Keep Out’ signs.”
The team are called to an abandoned house where some kids are trapped. Everything is going smoothly, which, naturally, means that it won't be that way for much longer.
Trapped in a Burning Building - Filled
a little unsteady | 9-1-1: Lone Star | TK x Carlos
9-1-1, What's your emergency?
'Please, help! My house is on fire and my husband’s inside!'
or
t.k. sometimes wonders if the universe is out to get him
Worked Themselves to Exhaustion - Filled
In Your Arms | 9-1-1: Lone Star | TK x Carlos, Michelle & TK
T.K. and Carlos agreed when they started dating to check-in on each other that they were both okay. Reassurance that nothing bad had happened. So, when Carlos hasn't replied hours after his shift is supposed to have finished, T.K.'s definitely beginning to panic.
Locked in a Cage - Filled
running out of time | Shadowhunter Chronicles | Kit x Ty
When (if) they got out of here, Kit wanted the record to unequivocally state that this wasn’t his fault. Not that it was Ty's either, but it certainly wasn't Kit's.
or
kit and ty's first hunt together after three years goes wrong and they wind up trapped in a cage with no way out. naturally, this leads to a heartfelt conversation.
Demonic/Ghostly Possession - Filled
Haunting | 9-1-1: Lone Star | TK x Carlos, TK & Owen
T.K. is five when he first sees a ghost, though, of course, he doesn’t know that it’s a ghost. His name is Joey, and he lives in the playground, which T.K. thought was a little strange, but he doesn’t want to ask. Dad says it’s rude to ask questions like that to someone he’s just met.
Fingore - Filled
ease my mind | 911: Lone Star | TK x Carlos
Briefly, Carlos considers calling TK and telling him about the accident. But… He only broke two of his fingers and it barely even classifies as a minor injury in his book, so there’s really no reason to bother his fiancé while he’s still on shift himself. He pockets his phone then looks around to figure out where the exit is.
Only, an all-too familiar laugh distracts him from his task, drawing his attention to the nurses station.
Where TK is standing, smiling as a nurse swats at him for stealing one of their lollipops.
Carlos is, beyond doubt, fucked.
Verbal Abuse - Filled
this is a song about somebody else | 9-1-1: Lone Star | TK x Carlos, TK & Marjan
TK doesn't notice the 126's latest visitor until it's too late. He freezes as Alex smiles at him, knocked off balance by this sudden intrusion of his old life into his new one.
or
alex vists tk at the 126. luckily, tk has his family to help him through it.
tw: abusive language
Dying in Their Arms - Filled
can you hear me screaming (please don’t leave me) | 9-1-1: Lone Star | TK x Carlos
As a cop, Carlos has to deal with all kinds of cases, and not all of them end well. But never in his life did he imagine that he'd have to respond to an incident involving his own boyfriend.
tw: major character death
Blindfolded - Filled
find you here inside the dark | Doctor Who | Thirteen x Yaz
Yaz has walked this room too many times to count now; she’s traced her fingertips over the walls, searching for any cracks or crevices to indicate where there might be a door.
If the Doctor were here, she’d have her sonic out by now, spitting out words, only half of which Yaz could understand. She’d find a way out in no time. Or, if not, at least she’d be here. Talking a mile a minute, probably annoying the hell out of their captors. Yaz can almost hear her now—
Wait.
She can hear her now.
Water Torture - Filled
soggy clothes and breezeblocks | 9-1-1: Lone Star | TK x Carlos
Carlos wakes up slowly. He cracks his eyes open, wincing at the pounding in his head. He lifts his hand to massage the pain away, only to discover that his hand won't move, the cool metal of handcuffs biting viciously into his wrist.
After an undercover mission goes wrong, Carlos is forced to fight for his life. And to make matters worse, his kidnappers are making sure that T.K. is watching the entire thing.
tw: torture
Fighting from the Inside - Filled
and curse the gods | BBC Atlantis | Jason & Medusa
Jason knows what it is to be cursed.
Slammed into a Wall - Filled
mind over matter (matter over mind) | 9-1-1: Lone Star | TK x Carlos, TK & Owen
After a night out goes wrong, TK and Carlos are left to deal with the consequences.
tw: homophobia, hate crimes, hiding an injury
Suicide Attempt - Filled
be done with this now | 9-1-1: Lone Star | TK x Carlos
Once upon a time, Carlos had thought that watching as his almost-boyfriend was whisked off in an ambulance, bullet wound in his chest, would be the worst moment of his life. Then TK had been kidnapped, and Carlos had spent hours not knowing where he was, if he was alive or dead, and he thought - this is it. Nothing can top this.
But, having to perform CPR on his husband, having to hold him as he slipped away in his arms?
That was worse than even his nightmares.
tw: suicide attempt, suicidal thoughts, depression, drug abuse, overdosing
Bleeding Through the Bandages - Filled
pull you in to feel your heartbeat | 9-1-1: Lone Star | TK x Carlos
The call comes at the tail end of Carlos’s shift, and he instantly hates whichever idiot decided to ruin his night by mugging someone.
What he's not expecting is to find his boyfriend on the ground, bleeding out from a stab wound.
Arm in a Sling - Filled
have you been involved in an accident at work? | 9-1-1: Lone Star | TK & 126 Crew, TK x Carlos
T.K. was on his way to the hospital. Again.
At least this time he could say with absolute certainty that it 100% wasn't his fault.
Self-Harm - Filled
but god i wanna feel again | 9-1-1: Lone Star | TK x Carlos
Carlos blames himself for not noticing. It's not like he had much choice in the matter; he hasn't seen T.K. all week, and his texts have been going unanswered, but he can't help but feel like it's partly his fault.
If only T.K. would actually talk about himself, instead of keeping it all in.
tw: self-harm

Faded Colour
Au: Iwa Gai Au + Soulmate Au
Words: 2390
Pairing: Hatake Kakashi/Maito Gai
Summary: On his way to complete a mission in the land of Earth, Kakashi notices a shift in his vision that could only mean one thing. His soulmate is nearby, and for some reason, he really wants to see the man.
Continuation of: Unexpected Soulmate
The colours that you see now are the window to your soul. The further away from your soulmate you are, the less focused the colours will be.
The closer you are, the sharper more distinctive they are. You'll be able to tell the difference between blue and aqua then.
If your soulmate is injured, the colours will fade.
If they die…
Minato-sensei had never finished explaining it to him. Missions had happened, life became hectic, and before Kakashi really knew what was going on his whole team was gone.
Names on a stone memorial for him to visit every morning.
His Sensei’s words were always on his mind though. A constant reminder of why his vision was changing. Why things seemed a little clearer once in a while, or why his heart would stop when the colours would start to fade.
He had only met his soulmate once, in the heat of battle, and he was already terrified of losing him. It was rather pathetic in his opinion. Fearing for the life of an enemy shinobi. Then of course, he assumed that was what happened with every soulmate.
It didn’t matter if you wanted to be connected to that person. If you were supposed to try and kill each other on sight, or if you never really got to know them. The heart knew who it was connected to, and the mere thought of losing that connection hurt.
“You’re not focused,” glancing towards Tenzo, Kakashi raised an eyebrow when he saw his new teammate staring back at him with a worried expression. “What’s on your mind, Senpai?”
“I told you not to call me that,” turning his attention back on the path in front of him, Kakashi touched down on the next branch and prepared to jump once more when he suddenly saw a shift in his vision. The colours around him getting sharper, with the green of the forest tree’s becoming more prominent and beautiful. “Shit.”
“What is it?” coming to a stop by Kakashi’s side, Tenzo immediately reached out to touch the older boys shoulder.
Trouble. That’s the only word that Kakashi could think of to describe it. If the colours around him were getting clearer that meant that his soulmate was close by. A secret he had managed to keep from everyone, about to be blown all for their mission.
“Stone shinobi,” he informed Tenzo, trying his best to keep his cool. Though he had no idea where the enemy actually was, he did like the amazed look on Tenzo’s face when his words sank in. “They’re nearby. Get ready for a fight.”
Their goal was to get to the land of earth and take out a specific target, so it wasn’t surprising that they were running into stone shinobi on the way. The only annoying part was that he had to be one of them.
The smart thing to do was avoid them. He had no idea how many shinobi there were, and their purpose was to avoid unnecessary fights so that they could achieve their mission.
Regardless of what was smart, his heart screamed at him to find them. To risk a full out fight to see his soulmate for ever just a second. To put his life, and Tenzo’s, on the line for selfish, stupid reason’s.
“We’re going in, arn’t we?” When he looked back over at Tenzo he was met with an unimpressed glare. “You really are out of it.”
It wasn’t a lie, and no doubt Tenzo would have a lecture waiting for him as soon as they were out of danger, but it was worth the risk.
Just this once, he needed to listen to his heart.
To give himself something good, even if it all went terribly wrong.
“Lead the way, Senpai,” closing his eyes, Kakashi focused on the scenes around them. The smell of grass and bark were the most prominent around them, but hidden deep beneath them was the smallest hint of sweat. Following that scent, he turned towards the east. “That way?”
“This way,” he confirmed before jumping towards the next tree. Even with a scent to follow, the information he had was still minimal. They’d have to scope the area before actually approaching, to make sure they weren’t about to jump into a situation that they would find themselves outnumbered in.
As they got closer to their target, Kakashi couldn’t help but notice the sharpness of the colours around him. Where usually the various colours would blend together, he could now tell where exactly the leaves ended and the branch began. When he looked up at the sky above them, he could see the difference between the clouds and the sky.
Things that usually didn’t concern him were impossible not to notice now, largely because of the weird feeling that bloomed inside of his chest when he thought about the reason for all of these changes.
I wonder if he looks the same.
It's a stupid thought of course. The two of them hadn't seen each other in five years. There was no way the other boy still had the same stupid bowl cut, or that he was wearing that same awful green jumpsuit.
Just as Kakashi had grown and changed, he surely had as well.
Coming to a stop after a few minutes, Kakashi peered through the bush line.
"Just one person," Tenzo settled in beside him. "If you really want to pick a fight, that shouldn't be too hard to deal with."
One person.
One single person, with a vibrant green jumpsuit that Kakashi had wished he'd never see again, and that same ridiculous bowl cut.
Five years, and yet it was like nothing had changed at all.
“I don’t think we’ll need to pick a fight,” turning his back, Kakashi prepared himself to move on. Seeing that his soulmate was alive was surely enough. At least now he had some information about his condition, rather than the absolute nothing he had for the past five years. “Let’s continue with our mis-”
Hearing movement directly behind him, Kakashi turned and lifted his arms just in time to block a kick from the man he had been watching just seconds ago.
“You!” Bright black eyes widened with realization.
Shoving him back, Kakashi shifted his feet to face him once again and dived towards the enemy. Usually, he’d pull out his tanto for the attack. Aim to slice deep into his enemies’ skin in hopes of disarming them and forcing them to retreat.
His hand refused to reach for the weapon though or to even produce the Chidori that he was so well known for.
Instead, he found himself wrapping his arms around the man’s waist and attempting to slam him down into the ground, before he could though, he shifted his body so that he landed on his feet and was immediately able to push himself back. Putting distance between the two of them.
“What are you doing here?” turning his body mid-air, Kakashi touched down on the ground. “Don’t tell me you’re spying on me. Did you miss me that much?”
Hearing the taunt out of the other man’s mouth made his skin crawl.
“I’m here for a mission,” he insisted, ignoring the prickling feeling on the back of his neck when the other man narrowed his eyes. Clearly not believing what Kakashi was saying. “What would I even want to do around you? You haven’t grown at all as a shinobi.”
It was a lie of course. His arms were throbbing from the kick he had blocked, and the ease with which he had dodged Kakashi’s attack was a major improvement from the last fight they had.
“Brave words for the one hiding away in the trees. Can’t even come out and face me head-on?”
It took all of Kakashi’s effort not to scream at the man about the importance of stealth for a shinobi. Clearly, it was a lost cause that he need not waste time arguing about if the man was going to take a jab at him doing his job and keeping hidden.
Not that he was doing his job well, obviously, since he had been spotted. Something he would have to work on when he got home.
“Is your friend going to come out or-” holding up a hand, Kakashi kept his eyes focused on the stone shinobi. This was not something that he wanted Tenzo to be a part of. If there was going to be a fight, it was his to have. “I see. Is that how it’s going to go? You’re going to be one of those people? The one who kills their sou-”
“Do not finish that sentence.” There were too many things that could go wrong if Tenzo found out who it was that Kakashi had been so determined to find. The questions would be nothing compared to the judgement he would face if Tenzo told anyone else.
If others in Konoha found out that ‘Friend-killer Kakashi’ had a soulmate, one who was an enemy shinobi, he’d never be trusted again. It would be a lucky day if he was simply shunned like his father, or banished from the village.
There were days where he already felt like an outcast in his own village. He didn’t need to make it worse by actually becoming one.
“Look,” dropping his shoulders, he gave himself a moment to get his emotions back under control. Not that a moment would do much to help him, but the least he could do was not allow them to overwhelm him. “I didn’t come here for a fight. I don’t want to…” he gave his hand a wave as a substitute for the words he didn’t want to say. “I just needed…”
To make sure that you were alive.
Something good in my life.
You.
Stomping down on all of those thoughts, he desperately searched for something that he could say. An excuse for being there that would actually make sense, without giving away the mission that he was there to do.
“Hey…” seeing the other man take a step towards him, Kakashi forced himself not to move back. “Are you-” A hand reached out towards him, stopping half way between them when he flinched away. “Can I?”
Unsure of what the man was trying to ask him, Kakashi looked down at the hand now hovering between them. A hand that looked suspiciously like it was reaching towards his face.
For his mask.
“Oh…” Usually he’d wonder how the other man had known who he was when his face was covered, but the answer was obvious. He knew who he was facing for the same reason that Kakashi had known he was nearby. The world around them had gotten more colourful.
Just a tad bit brighter.
“Go ahead,” With permission given, he reached out and carefully started to remove the mask from Kakashi’s face, a wooden pillar suddenly shooting out of the ground between them and wrapping itself around his wrist. “Tenzo, stand down.”
“But, Senpai!” glaring back at his teammate, Kakashi watched as he examined the look on his face for a moment before sighing. “If he tries to hurt you-”
“I won’t,” the other man offered, a small smile on his face when Kakashi returned his attention to him. “I just want to see your face.” With a muttered protest, Tenzo removed the wooden pillar from the man’s arm and allowed him to continue. Once the mask was off, he lowered his hand and just stood there staring. “You look different.”
“We’re older.”
“That’s not what I mean,” taking a step closer, he brought his other hand up to cup Kakashi’s face. “You had a lot more fire in your eyes the last time I saw you.”
“A lot has happened.”
People died.
Life got hectic.
Whatever energy he had as a kid was gone. Wasted away on missions gone wrong and friendships lost.
“Bakashi, listen-” Holding up a hand, Kakashi narrowed his eyes. Of all the stupid shit to follow him to this age, he couldn’t believe…
If Obito wasn’t already dead, he might seriously consider murdering him.
“My name is Kakashi,” he clarified, cringing at the reminder that even in the heat of battle Obito would always call him by that stupid nickname. “Ka-ka-shi.”
“That’s...not what i remember your friend calling you.”
“Ya well,” turning his eyes away, he huffed. “That was a nickname he called me. It’s not for you to use.”
A stupid nickname. One that he had hated with every fiber of his being when he was a kid having to deal with Obito calling him it every day, and one he couldn’t believe he would ever miss.
“Alright,” peering back over at the other man, he felt a warmth blooming in his chest when he was met with a smile. “Kakashi. I’ll make sure to remember that name.”
“Thank you,” the hand against his face hadn’t moved at all the entire conversation, and Kakashi couldn’t help but turn his face into it. Bury his nose into callused rough skin, and enjoy the scent that he had never gotten the chance to enjoy before. “I need-”
He had to leave. There was still a mission to do, and Tenzo was waiting for him.
No matter how much he wanted to stand there and enjoy the other man’s scent. Familiarize himself with the man that he was supposed to be with against all odds, he couldn’t.
“I have to go.” His heart broke saying those words, but he knew it was true. Those who failed those missions were worthless to the village. He knew that better than most.
“Whatever is it, i’ll be here after,” his soulmate, he would call him that from now on. It was the title that he deserved, even if they were enemies. “I can meet you somewhere.”
He should say no,
He shouldn’t even be here in the first place, talking to a Stone shinobi. An enemy.
Yet here he was. Standing in front of Gai, hiding his face in his hand, wanting to be near him. No matter how much his mind screamed at him to turn around and leave, his heart won in the end.
For once, he let his emotions have this one.
“Where can I meet you?”

This came as a big surprise to the baby boy. I mean yeah, they'd accomplished so much this year and worked super hard. That alone was something everyone knew which made the leader proud but an Award was the icing on the cake. More proof that they were going in the right direction and as a leader he couldn't have been more proud. Once they got up on stage he couldn't hide his smile any longer as he tried to stay neutral. You watched in excitement and adoration.
"Ehm." He began but before he could get more out the crowd cheered making him smile more but he continued. "I'd just like to thank everyone who took the time to help us. The gratitude we have towards our fans cannot be showed enough, we love you, STAYS." He took a breath.
"To my members, thank you also for trusting me enough to lead you, I love you all dearly, my family as well... I'd also like to thank my best friend Y/n." You nearly jumped up and screeched but remembered where you were, he really was mentioning you?
"Thank you for encouraging me to keep going, Forcing me to get much needed rest, Letting me know that I was being too hard on myself at times, I love you and thank you for being here tonight as well." He said, a beyond evident smile on his face which you mirrored.

Woojin:
Our baby thought about this as a moment to not only be proud of this but be thankful and not take it for granite as this award could've been given to anyone but it was given to them instead.
Woojin fought back tears as they reached the stage and he was next To Chan who had given his speech and thanked everyone including his bestfriend. Woojin felt proud by his leaders humbled exterior. He also found the courage in his friends previous speech to give Thanks to someone special to him as well .
Woojin now stood where Chan previously did, cheers erupting making it harder to control his enotuons, he couldn't believe the outcome of it all.
"Thank you all for choosing us as you Best new male artist, it means so much. To our fans who will always show us unlimited love and appreciation, we will continue to do our best by you,our families, our team, ourselves, and each other." Woojin took a deep breath as he looked into the crowd knowing that even though you weren't there, you were watching. Woojin wiped a stray tear from his eye as it'd fought so much to come down and be released and it finally was. The crowd cheered and coo'd.
"Also I want to say thank you to one of the only girls in my life that I talk to and keeps me afloat. To my dearest Y/n, I love you and I hope you're proud of me. I know you think you didn't do much but you contributed alot with your encouragement." Woojin finished with one last Thank you and a bow.
He knew you'd seen his emotions and cherished his words. And so he stepped back allowing his other members to speak with a hidden smile. Feeling accomplished in more ways than one.

Lee Know:
Was among few of the members who stayed emotionally stable. Sure he wanted to cry, scream, jump around, maybe grind a bit, but he kept his cool but still showed that he was happy and grateful. His Hyung's were by his side in what would be one of his proudest moments and it was all because of their hardwork together, so, what more could he want?
To thank you.
He seen that everyone was doing their absolute best to keep it together and he smiled as He was next to speak.
"Good evening everyone. I'd like to thank You all for even seeing us worthy to be a nominee , thank you to all who believed in us, especially our STAYS who are a huge part of this." He smiled his award winning smile that had you nearly smashing your face against the TV.
"A very special thanks to my gorgeous Y/n." The Fans roared as he smiled cheekily. "I adore you so much." The fans were practically breaking out of their reserved area just excited that they finally knew the basis of your relationship "Thank you again to everyone who voted for us, we love you all." Is what he ended with.
You screamed so loud your mother came in your room and cursed you out but after explaining the situation she joined you in celebration.

Changbin:
He kept it together he stood tall and somewhat motionless. The baby didn't move and nor did he have much to say as he hadn't prepared a speech or anything of the sort. He patted Seungmin's shoulder who stood next to him bouncing off the heels of his feet, a smile so precious that it could heel the cold hearted planted on his lips. Changbin smiled at his younger brother and member. It made him proud knowing that he helped get to this moment, to see him smile like this.
Minho looked to Changbin as if to ask if he had anything to say, Changbin slightly leaned over just enough to speak into the Mic to say these words;
"First and foremost this goes without saying but to our STAYS, thank you for being the best fandom any rookie group could ever have. Thank you to our families, special thanks to my members, I'd like to also Say to my Best friend, Y/n who said we'd be here one day.. You were right. Thank you and love you."
Everyone began to clap for him as he went back to his regular posture. He looked down smling. You'd been right and he knew it , he just didn't expect it all to happen so soon. In the moment Changbin began to question the dynamic of your friendship and was that really all it was. He was thinking about you the whole night more than the awards and it'd been like that for a while.
It took tonight to make him realize that he'd grown feelings towards one of his main support systems.

Hyunjin:
So nervous, so excited, so surprised, so precious. Wearing a smile the whole night the shy cutie didn't know what to say when Changbin ushered him to speak next.
He looked out into the audience smiling grateful and bowing to the crowed that cheered for them. He looked and he saw you. Wow, just radiant and glowing without any special lighting. He fiddled with his fingers behind the podium as he spoke.
"Um. Well first I want to say to my members." He said looking back at the other 8 happy boys standing behind him. "I'm glad to share this moment with you and may we keep up the good work , share many more like this, keep making STAYS proud, and living our dreams." Each member smiled and clapped proudly, adoring the tallest member's kind words to them. Facing the crowd once more he blushed and temporarily his his face in his hands to regain his composure.
"Thank you to our wonderful fans, we love you, thank you to our company, families, and friends." He took a shakey breath trying to keep his emotions in check, the crowed at that up and so did you, he was too cute. "Thank you to my Dear Friend, Y/n, I hope you're with us every step of the way in the future. I need you. We need you and we love you. Thank you and good evening." Hyunjin finished strong and you were the first to stand and applause for him. He looked at you once more before stepping Aside to let Jisung speak.
Now to make the night better, finally he'd confess.

I swiftly take off my blazer, shoes, and tie, keeping an eye on the new yet old girl. After she had introduced herself to me, she finished up her conversation with Kiyoko. As I hid behind the locker to change my outfit, I listened in on Eclair and her reason for being here.
"Yeah, so I just got back! I'm leaving again around next week! I'm on spring break to see my mom, so I thought I could by after school to visit the old club! Maybe if Takeda lets me, I could stick around till I leave," she mumbles, smiling down at her shoes. The girl looked like an unboxed expensive doll with rich clothing included. "Oh...I have a question."
Kiyoko hummed, tying her shoes on the bench.
"How's Koushi doing?"
I felt as if my ears were stretching out towards her, hearing every single vowel she spoke out. 'Suga? What does she want to do with him? Maybe they're old friends.' I hoped and prayed that the two weren't involved in anything together. If so, that would give me another issue. I didn't want some beautiful girl near Koushi if they had history. Especially not if they're so close for them to be on a first-name basis.
I slam my locker shut, getting ready to put on my shoes as well. Both girls are surprised by the sudden sound, but I ignore it, continuing to "mind my own business."
"Uhm..." I feel Kiyoko's eyes wander towards me at the mention of Sugawara. "He's been doing pretty good ever since school started. I don't know much about his personal life."
I spot her hands tightening in on each other in the corner of my eye. "Oh! Okay, I'll just ask Daichi then. The only reason I'm asking is that...well...you know."
'You know?! What the hell does this girl want with Koushi?! And it's not like I can say I'm his girlfriend or anything...' I think to myself, finishing getting dressed. "Hey, Kiyoko, we should probably get going. We don't wanna be late to practice," I mutter in a nervous voice, rubbing my neck.
She nods to me. "Yeah. Uhm— Eclair is coming as well if you don't mind."
'Of course, she is.' Once again, I smile, saying, "that's fine with me! Gives me some time to know her." The girl squeals in excitement, getting a head start to the gym before Kiyoko and me.
When Kiyoko pulls open the gym doors, we're greeted by a few players that were already there. To my surprise, there seems to be a new boy in the gym.
I had expected him to greet us, girls, in a gentle manner the way the rest of the team does. Instead, he yells out to the black-haired girl, "Kiyoko! Come to my arms sweet mama!"
Repulsed, she slapped her hand against his face, making sure he hadn't touched her. "Stop that," she demanded which in her therapeutic tone that I could never take seriously. I only stood at the doorway, confused as to why there was a short, loud little man at our feet.
"I've missed you!" The boy gets back up, standing a good distance from us. Kiyoko simply scoffs before walking to the supply room, leaving Eclair and me with him. He looks our way almost immediately, grabbing both of our hands and kissing them. "Hey, ladies! Now, Eclair— you better tell me who this fine girl!"
She giggles lightly. "That's Y/n! I just met her a few moments ago, so I'm not sure I can tell you much about her!" A few moments after he turns back to the rest of the team, she leans close to my ear to whisper, "that's Nishinoya. He was our old libero before leaving for temporary discipline."
Kiyoko rolls out a basket of volleyballs, calling me towards her while Eclair greeted our players. I run towards her, helping her unbuckle the straps that held the casket together.
"So...who exactly is this Eclair?" I ask her, causing her to roll her eyes.
'I'm guessing no one good.'
"It's just an old manager that was around for a month or two during our second year. Throughout that time, she managed to get every boy on the team to wag their tail for her. I wouldn't call her a slut or anything, just very flirtatious. She didn't do much. She was more of a cheerleader for the boys so drool over," she explains. I look over to Eclair, feeling ill by the fact she was much closer to any of the players than I was. "And about Sugawara... she had a major crush on him for a while. You might want to keep an eye on him since you two are a thing."
It seemed Eclair was a huge threat already. With her formality, style, and beauty, I most definitely had my doubts about keeping Koshi in my grasp. I stared her down as she walked over towards him, greeting him with a small hug. Internally, I felt like ripping my head off at the sight. But I just tried ignoring it and continuing my task.
Thankfully, Daichi yells my name out, calling for me to head over there. I do as told and run over towards the group. He tugs at my shoulders, wrapping one of his strong arms around them. "This is Y/n. She's been a manager of ours for a week now, but she's pretty familiar with the third years. I think she'll be helping Kiyoko out until they graduate. Y/n, this is Eclair and Nishinoya— second years. Eclair was assistant to manager for a little while and Noya is our team's libero."
"Wow, that's so cool! So is Eclair gonna be a manager too?! That would be so awesome if we had three pretty girls in the club!" I cringe at how girl-obsessed this Nishinoya seemed to be and how sweet Eclair was behaving.
She smiled, giggling at the boy's question. "No, silly! I'm only here for a week! Since I'm still on spring break, I'll just be hanging out with you guys a couple of times before going back to France. I'm so sad that I have to leave all of you sweet boys for good!"
Daichi let's go of me, letting me wiggle my shoulders around. "Noya, you haven't changed all that much after leaving school for a while."
"Oh, whatever. I'm just excited to be back on the team. So, where's Asahi? Is he back yet?"
Everyone grows silent at Noya's question, looking anywhere but at him. 'Who's Asahi? This team is really lacking communication skills,' I think to myself. "Well...Uhm," Daichi mumbles in a hesitant tone.
"Damn coward." Nishinoya makes a sudden remark, changing the cheerful atmosphere he led just a few seconds ago.
Tanaka tried shutting up his peer, scared he'll get himself into even more trouble than he was already in. "Noya! Show some respect for your upper class-men!—"
"Oh shut up! He's a scared little cry baby and you know it," he yelled back to Tanaka. "If Asahi's not coming back, then neither am I!"
'So dramatic.' I think to myself, raising my brows at the awkward situation. Before anybody can stop him, he rushes out of the gym, leaving us worried. It sure was the "guardian" that Daichi described last week. Blunt and loud.
"Hm..so who's gonna run after him this time?" Tanaka groans, disappointed that his reunion with his friend came to a sudden stop.
Eclair frowns, beginning the sentence of her idea. "Maybe I could talk to him—" but she's suddenly interrupted by Koshi, who stands right behind me.
"Y/n! Why don't you do it?" He and his patronizing smile showed no mercy towards me. Placing both of his hands on my hips, he turns and leads me towards the door. "Come on, it'll be fun! Noya is always nice to gorgeous girls. Right guys?"
The team nods, chuckling at Koshi's strange behavior, given none of them had ever seen him act so touchy with me. In fact, he'd just told every member of the club that he thought I was gorgeous.
I give him a death stare, attempting to unleash myself from his grasp. He still kept a cheerful mood and was determined to see how I could handle this situation. "Koshi—I dunno... I just met the guy two minutes ago!"
When we reach the door, he suddenly got close up to my ear, whispering, "you'll be closer to the team ten times more than you were if you get him back. I just want you and the team to feel comfortable before announcing anything."
As annoyed as I was with him, I understood. My friends knew Suga, but they weren't very close to him in any way. I didn't blame him for wanting me to communicate with them. Still, that didn't change the fact I was pissed with him for putting me on the spot like that.
Sighing, I roll my eyes, awkwardly smiling at the team as they look towards us. And before I knew it, I'm off looking for Nishinoya.
I felt released when I had spotted him sitting nicely under a cherry blossom tree. As cheerful as the area was, he looked quite disappointed.
I debated once more if I should have butt into a problem that I truly had no acknowledgment of— if it was the best idea to potentially ruin this opportunity for the volleyball club. Unfortunately, he had spotted me in his peripheral vision before I could doubt myself any longer.
"Did Daichi send you?" His raspy high pitched voice questions me while he cracked his knuckles.
'Well, not him, but his best friend.'
I shake my head, sitting down in the empty spot next to him on the bench. He quickly turned the other way, crossing his arms like a child. "I'm not coming back," Noya scoffed.
I was lost. Was there anything other than coming back to the club to talk about? His skills. "Uhm, so, you specialize in defense, right?" I prayed to every presence that I was steering the right way with this conversation.
"Why do you think that?" He asks. "Cause I'm short?"
I shake my head again. "No, It's because Daichi kept calling you 'Guardian'."
"Guardian?! Where did that come from? I mean, I'm not that important. It's embarrassing—really!" Bingo! Noya grew flustered about the nickname and faced me, denying his excitement. "D-did he say that?"
"Mhm, supposedly you're pretty important."
But all good things must come to an end. After a few more seconds of happiness, he reverts to his angry attitude. "So what?! Does Daichi think giving me a badass nickname is enough to make me come back? I mean he's not wrong but—damn is Daichi that's not fair."
'It's not all that. Honestly, it's kind of cringe. But whatever floats your boat, I guess.' I wonder to myself how I could possibly make this stubborn boy agree that he was needed on the team. Without a script in my hand, I came up with the best I could do. "Look, Noya. I don't know much about volleyball or the club the way you do. Hell, I've only been here for a week and I'm already stressed out. But I'm positive that you're important to us. We have this kid...his name is Hinata. You met him earlier. You see, he has potential, but he still needs a lot of practice on his receives. And from what I know, that's the most important aspect of the game. Right?"
Nishinoya abruptly stands up, near crying at my explanation of how badly we needed him. "...wow,
L/n! You know how to convince a guy!" His voice wobbles in emotion. "Of course I'll help you! I
mean— Hinata! But that doesn't mean I'm coming back to volleyball club, I'm only gonna teach him how to do receives, that's all!"
I stand up, bowing towards the girl-obsessed guy. "Thank you, Noya."
'I did it! I got him to come back! Only for one practice, but that's still something!'
-
After taking many mental (and physical) notes on today, it was finally my time to leave practice.
Seeing Noya's playstyle helped me tremendously to understand the position of a receiver on the volleyball team. And as it turned out, he was an important player. And after this "Asahi" guy left, it only made everyone feel more diminished.
He's supposed to be another one of the third-year players. Though I've never met him, I do know that he's a boy my age but looks like a man. Supposedly, during a game that Karasuno was losing caused trouble for the entire team. Sugawara was setting and Asahi was attacking, but all of his attacks were shot down by another team. The night they came back is when he'd decided to give up on volleyball. I couldn't even imagine how guilty Koshi must have felt after that. Knowing him, he probably took on the blame for everything.
I was glad I decided to help out the club by getting Noya to help Hinata with his received. It would benefit not only them, but Sugawara as well. "How can you be confused, its just 'wooh!' and then 'pow!'" He shouts as the ball ricochets off of his wrists.
"Yeah! I know exactly what he's saying, how do you not get it?!" Kageyama says to Hinata, who's mentally challenging himself today.
"That's only because you guys teach with words!"
The day was coming to an end, finally. Dealing with a bunch of boys making noise and Eclair non-stop talking to everybody made me feel sick. But before I left to change back into my clothes, Nishinoya made a move to stop me.
"Wait, Y/n! You can't just leave without giving me your number! And where's my hug?! How about I take you out sometime as thanks for giving me such a sweet talk under the pretty little tree?" He whines, grabbing both my hands. 'Where's my hug? Mother fucker, you're younger than I am.'
Koshi spends no time running up behind me and pulling me from his grasp, telling the boy, "Noya, you need to stop harassing all the girls that step into this gym."
"Oh, come on, Suga! She's a total cutie and you know it!" He points at him. "Wait a minute...is that why you're so protective of the new manager?! You've got your eyes on Y/n!"
We both gasp, letting go of each other in an instant. "No!" Koshi and I yell while awkwardly smiling.
-
As time passes, each member dresses out and begins to walk home. When I do as well, Koshi. waits for me outside.
I would finally be able to talk with him about today!
"So, you have Noya a sweet talk under the cherry blossom tree?" Sugawara teases me, playfully bumping my shoulder while we began our walk into the roads.
I hit him back. "Stop that! That was just a coincidence. And I only got him back by saying Daichi thought of him as some knight and that he was needed on the team. That's all!"
"Oh yeah? Well, you did a good job. He said he'll stick around for a little bit to teach Hinata. Gotta say they get along great." His sweet chuckle fills the warmth around us.
Something was poking at me to ask him about the girl I'd met earlier. 'If she still has feelings for him, then should I not say anything?' "Hey, Kou?"
He hums, wrapping an arm around me. "What?"
"...what do you think of Eclair? Are you happy she's back to visit you guys?"
"Oh, I guess so. I tried not paying too much attention to her." He states, looking at the sidewalk ahead of us. Something told me he didn't want to talk about her feelings for him or if they were still there. However, I was determined to get to the bottom of the situation before having to be in the same room as the girl who likes the boy I love.
"Uhm...could you tell me about her? Like, what kind of relationship did she have with everybody? Did you guys get along? Stuff like that. I wanna get to know her without having to talk to her a whole lot," I tell him, snuggling into his shoulder.
When he walks dead silent for a few seconds, I realize that something is wrong. "Y/n..." he begins to sound a bit worried and disappointed. "I'd rather you not be around her too much."
As if I had no idea, I raise my brows innocently. "Why?"
"She just...stirs things up. I-I'd rather not have her come in between us. Thing is, she used to have this thing for me a few months before she left for France. At first, I thought she was just being polite by doing usual things that people would do when they are in love. But then after some time, I realized she had a major crush on me. And when I told her that I wasn't ready for a relationship, she totally flipped out. She made a big scene and told everybody that I was a stupid guy who only talked to girls for my pleasure." Towards the end of his explanation, he becomes more and more ashamed of what he says.
'So that means he had to have done things with other girls.' The thought that Koshi has most likely already had sex made my face heat up in both anger and sadness. Not that I had any motive to rush into that with him, but I felt more anxious he would expect more from me if the time ever came. "And...did you only talk to girls for pleasure?" My heart raced with every silent second that ran past us. Sugawara didn't want to answer my question.
"Koshi, if you've already had sex then I don't mind. I'm just asking if you used other girls for pleasure...because if so—"
"No!" He shouts gently, turning me towards him. Once again, we stood under the street light that we always seemed to stop at on walks home. "Y/n, I know I was pretty messed up but I wouldn't ever take girls for advantage and never have! And my old habits—they aren't something I should be proud of, so I don't talk about it."
"Koshi, we don't have to if you don't want to," I tell him.
"But I have to eventually, right? Why get you all caught up in a relationship you don't even fully know about."
I look into his eyes, longing for him to lay his sorrow down onto me and forget about it all. I knew that he'd never have it in his heart to do anything evil. But whatever he didn't want to tell me was eating him up. After a few moments of even more silence, I bring him back from his thoughts. "Kou?"
The boy takes one of my hands within his and brings it up to his lips, kissing it lightly. When he takes his lips back, he begins his explanation. "I've never really been able to cope properly with my mom's death, Y/n. That's why when I talk about it, I can't seem to keep myself together. And I know it's been a long time, but I'm still ashamed for giving my first time away so easily because I was overwhelmed with anger that I didn't care any longer. Things that someone should save for someone special were spent on girls who were only in it for pleasure. I was the same, but I now know that I would have saved even holding hands with a girl if it meant it was with you, Y/n. See— doing anything with you feels like the first time but better. And that's because I love you. So yeah, I slept with a couple of girls, but it never meant anything to me. It only helped me distract myself from realizing that I required feeling important and loved again. That as much as I wanted to, I couldn't be an adult at the age of seventeen. Please, tell me that you understand what I'm saying? That when I'm with you, you make me feel whole again. Like I'm loved and needed, and I can take my time with you."
When he says things like that to me, I can't help but sink into his arms and breathy close to him. I wanted nothing more than to help him cure whatever negative feelings intoxicated him. If I was what helped him, then so be it.
"Then tell me, Koshi," I whisper to him, looking deep into his eyes. The world stopped around us if only for a second to let me ask this question, even if I already knew the answer. "...who is your first love?"
Every nerve in my body jumped when he wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me into a strong hug. If he had already done everything romantic with other women, then wouldn't that meant he was already in love with somebody previously?
No, wrong.
"You. Y/n, you are my first."
