A/N: hope this was worth the wait ;)
Sleep alright? is the text you get from Agatha the next morning while you’re getting ready for school. Heat runs through you at the very thought of her and you know she’s completely ruined you for anyone else. Memories of last night, of her kissing you, marking you, claiming you, flash through your head as wetness begins to pool in-between your legs.
You think Agatha might be the death of you.
Not really, thanks to you. You had spent the night tossing and turning, begging for the fire in your stomach to die down so you could get at least some rest. But it didn’t. You had been so sensitive that even the slightest brush of fabric against your clit when you moved while trying to sleep was enough to make you moan. And then when you had finally drifted off, she was there too, doing everything that you wanted and more. But you had been a good girl for her and somehow resisted the urge to touch yourself.
She sends back a winky face emoji and I’m always happy to keep you up all night. Damn her and her innuendos that make your face flush.
You pull the collar of your shirt over, admiring the dark red bruise she sucked into your neck last night in the mirror. A thrill spikes your heart rate and you get an idea.
You raise your phone and position it so you can snap a picture highlighting the hickey and the taunt veins in your neck. Before you can think too hard about it, you send it with the caption: Think anyone will notice this?
I hope they do, sweetheart. They should know who you belong to.
Fuck, that’s hot. Can I come over today? You need her more than air at this point. You are so consumed with the thought of her and you’re not sure anything can put that flame out.
You have school and no more skipping.
What about after?
You’re so desperate for me, aren’t you, baby girl? If you’re a good girl today, I’ll think about it.
You chew on your bottom lip, arousal coursing through your veins. It’s far too early to be this turned on. I’ll be so good for you mommy.
Agatha begins to type but then the three dots disappear. You curse and hope you didn’t step over the line.
Your mom calls your name from downstairs, startling you out of your thoughts. “You’re going to be late!” She calls up the stairs. You check the time, swear again, throw your computer into your bag, and run down the stairs. “What were you doing up there?”
“Nothing, sorry,” you lie hastily. You can’t imagine the truth of dirty texting with your step-mother going over well. “I’ll see you later.” You grab an apple from the bowl on the table and scurry out of the house.
It isn’t until you’re sliding into your seat in first period when you check your phone again and see a missed text. It’s a picture from Agatha and at first you can’t tell what it is. You click on it so it becomes full-screen and immediately slam your phone face-down on the desk so loud that everyone looks at you.
“Sorry!” You squeak, picking your phone up and holding it up close to you.
It’s a picture that Agatha took while laying in bed, the camera pointed away from her face toward her bent legs clad in sweatpants. And her arm is reaching down and under said sweatpants. You cannot get the picture of her touching herself out of your head now.
Wish you were here to make mommy feel good is the accompanying text. You cannot be doing this at school. But how can you resist?
You almost gave me a heart attack. I’m in class.
That’s not the only thing I can give you. You can practically hear her purring through the phone.
What are you thinking about? You watch the bubble indicating her typing with bated breath.
About how you should be paying attention in class.
You roll your eyes but see that there’s no point in trying to argue. You guess it’s nice that she actually cares about how you’re doing in school but you don’t hear a single thing any of your teachers say for the rest of the day because you’re too busy thinking about Agatha.
The second the last bell of the day rings, you call her. She picks up almost immediately.
“To what do I owe this pleasure, sweetheart?” Her raspy voice sends shivers down your spine.
“What are you doing right now?”
“Hmm,” she says thoughtfully. “I just got out of the shower and I’m about to get dressed.”
“Well, don’t,” you say, your initiative shocking both of you. “Is my dad home?”
“Look at you, kitten, taking control.” She sounds amused. “He hasn’t been here all day and I’ve been so lonely. I had no one to help me out with a little problem I was having so I had to take matters into my own hand.”
Your breath catches. “Can I come over?” Your voice is low, gripped with desire. You’re fully ready to beg if she makes you.
“Only if you’re going to make it worth my while.”
“I will,” you promise and it comes out needy. The thought of tasting her and feeling her hands wound tight in your hair has kept you close to the edge all day and now you can’t physically wait any longer.
“I’ll see you soon then.” She hangs up and you all but sprint to your car. You can’t believe this is finally happening.
You speed the entire way, throwing your car into park and racing up to the front door. It swings open before you even knock, Agatha clearly just as impatient. She’s wearing a robe that comes down mid-thigh, the neckline low. You can see that she’s not wearing anything underneath.
The moment you step inside, she presses you against the door, her mouth capturing yours in a dominating kiss. Her lips move with raw hunger, tongue licking into your open mouth.
“Fuck,” you moan into her, hands grappling with the tie holding her robe together. She breaks the kiss only for a second to take your shirt off and then she’s right back on you. She unclasps your bra and her hands cup your breasts, rolling your nipples with her fingers as you let out little gasps. You finally get her robe open and drag your hands over her smooth skin.
“Upstairs,” she mutters against your mouth and pulls you up the staircase, pausing halfway to shove you against the wall and kiss you senseless like the thought of waiting is too unbearable.
She leads you into her room – is it weird that you find it sexy that she’s going to fuck you in the bed she shares with your dad? – and pushes you down onto the bed. You watch in awe as Agatha shrugs off her robe, taking in her naked body. You saw hints of it in the darkness last night, but seeing it now, she is so much better than you ever could’ve dreamed.
“You’re so hot,” you breathe. Her cheeks redden and she helps you take off your pants until you’re just in your underwear.
“Did you behave last night?” She asks, stepping in-between your open legs and standing over you. Her hands rest on your thighs.
“Yes, I didn’t touch myself. I wanted to so badly though.”
“Good girl,” she says in a low voice and you clench around nothing. “Do you want to know what I was thinking about today?”
You nod so hard it hurts. Her fingers start to ghost up and down your legs. You’re literally aching.
“I was thinking about you spread out nicely for me, like you are right now. About how you would feel around my fingers, about the noises you would make as I tasted you. How pretty you’d sound while begging for mommy to fuck you.” There’s a glint in her eyes as she tells you this, enjoying the way you’re squirming below her.
You think you might be dripping onto the bed.
“Would you like that, baby girl?”
“Yes, mommy,” you whimper.
“Have you learned your lesson from last night?”
“I belong to you,” you repeat. She nods her approval, a hand moving to stroke you over your underwear. You mutter a curse under your breath. “Please.”
“‘Please’ what, baby girl?” Agatha asks innocently. “Use your words for mommy.”
“Anything,” you say, frustration leaking into your tone. “I just want to feel you.”
“Why didn’t you just say so?” She leans down over you and licks a hot stripe up your stomach, your back arching off the bed in pleasure. She kneels on the floor in front of you and lifts your hips so she can peel your underwear off. You then watch with your mouth agape as she tugs them down your legs with only her teeth.
You think you could get off on that sight alone.
Agatha kisses her way back up your thighs, suckling on the inner flesh, leaving matching marks to the one she left on your neck yesterday. At this point, you’re shaking with need.
“Mommy,” you whine, hands fisting in the sheets.
And then her tongue is delving through your folds and you keen loudly. You’d be embarrassed if you weren’t so turned on right now. Her hands dig into your thighs, keeping them open as she circles her tongue around your clit. You’re practically in tears with how good it feels.
She brings you to the edge and then backs off and then repeats that a few times. Your hips are moving on their own, seeking out the pleasure you need from her mouth.
And then she stops entirely, pulling away. The bottom of her face is drenched.
“No!” You cry, still grinding up on nothing now.
“You poor baby. So needy,” she coos, standing up and moving so she’s straddling you. She reaches down in-between your bodies and slides a finger swiftly inside you. You moan loudly, your fingers scrambling to grab onto her.
But she smirks and pins both your hands above your head with her free hand. “Maybe next time I’ll tie you up,” she muses and the threat makes your stomach twist hotly and she sees the expression on your face that tells her you’d be more than willing to do that.
And then she starts to move the finger that’s inside you.
“Fuck, sweetheart, you’re so tight,” she grunts, picking up the pace of her thrusts. She squeezes another finger in you and curls them just right every time, hitting that special spot.
“I’m close,” you choke out and she laughs.
“I haven’t even been fucking you for five minutes,” Agatha mocks. “Is mommy making you feel good?”
“So good, I love your fingers inside me,” you babble, getting closer to your peak. Her thumb reaches up to rub your clit in tune with her thrusts and you think this is the closest you’ll ever get to heaven.
Your step-mom leans down and kisses you roughly, sliding her tongue in your mouth right as she gives you one hard thrust and that’s it for you.
You cum with a loud gasp, her name the only thing you can say. She keeps fucking you until you have to physically beg her to stop because it’s too much.
She sticks her wet fingers in your mouth and watches with rapt attention as you bob your head around them.
“You’d look so pretty with my strap-on in your mouth,” she says wistfully, her other hand coming up to brush your hair out of your face. She smirks at the way you inhale, your cheeks tightening around her fingers. “Would you like that, sweetheart? Getting on your knees and sucking mommy’s cock?” You nod, eyes wide and looking up at her. “Of course you would.”
She pulls out her fingers with a pop and smears your saliva all over your cheeks.
“Can I taste you now?” You ask, enjoying the way Agatha’s eyes darken.
“Can I sit on your face, baby?”
You moan in approval and she’s climbing up your body when she suddenly freezes. You open your mouth to ask what’s wrong but she shushes you. Your brow furrows and you listen carefully.
There’s the faint sound of the garage rumbling from downstairs and a look of panic has settled over Agatha’s face.
Your dad is home. And you’re in bed with his wife.

High school relationships weren’t meant to last and that had never bothered her before. She felt the strangest urge to cry and she could feel her smile fading, turning her gaze back down at the sink.
“Feeling alright?” Normal asked, his voice soft, and Terri nodded. “Can you answer that in a way that makes me believe you?”
“Oh, shut up.” She smiled when her scoff earned a laugh from Normal, running the rough part of the sponge up and down the silverware they had been eating with. “I’m fine, I’m just being, I dunno, hormonal or whatever.”
“That time of the month,” Normal responded in a sage tone, as if Terri was the one who had experienced periods between the two of them, and Terri rolled her eyes. “I mean, even if you’re being hormonal or you won’t care anymore in an hour, I still wanna hear it. My grandpa always said-!”
“I just don’t want this to end,” she blurted out before Normal could get into his spiel.

Imagine if Lorelai and Lauren were after the same darling...💀
oomf... you're brilliance scares me...
i wouldnt dare imagine it oomf...
BUT if i were to imagine it, then it would definitely be a big mess, Lorelai and Lauren are distant cousins, Lorelai's father being 3rd cousins with Julie. Julie's father kept his last name while Mason Marlowe's father took his wife's last name.
Thus whenever there would be any big family reunions (very common occurrence, the McCanister's are a very close knit family) They'd see each other occasionally.
Lorelai liked Lauren, though she thought Lauren was too abrasive and Lorelai definitely dislikes the amount of vivid colors Lauren likes to wear. Lauren on the other hand likes Lorelai too but thinks she's too boring and vanilla, no matter what crazy plans she wants Lorelai to do with her Lorelai would persistently refuse against it.
But let's imagine Lauren and Lorelai went to the same University together, (Medical School comes after uni usually) And majored in the same majors let's say BioChem. And there one by one they met you, another student of the university.
You met Lauren in the introductory class, where she had approached you after the lecture and joked around about the professor and the course material. shit Lauren felt lucky that she managed to catch up to you and make you laugh and such. She scored hard as you two spent an hour in cafeteria talking and laughing, thank fuck she had the same schedule as you and walked with you to your next lecture, exchanging numbers on the way.
Lauren definitely falls in love first but also falls in love harder, you can easily make her heart beat faster than it should, give her the tingles whenever you touch her, and give her the urge to always have her on a body part of yours no matter what. Especially your thighs, lord the way they'd touch hers as she sits next to you in the lecture hall make her combust!
Lorelai on the other hand is more lucky than Lauren, begging her parents to let her experience the true uni student life was so worth it. Seeing how she was the one assigned to be your dormmate! You two met shortly after you and Lauren parted ways, you two had a 2 hour period without classes and you wanted to set up your side of the room and meet your new roommate!
"Hey if your roommate's an ass just tell me, I'll shove my boot so far up their as-"
"Got it! Thanks Laurie!!" You cut her off, not wanting her to go off on another violent bout.
You and Lorelai hit it off! It was so much fun getting to know each other while unpacking, sometimes you'd take something out that would catch her attention and you'd talk in depth about whatever it is! And the best part is you have no clue who the Marlowe's are, since all you said when Lorelai hesitantly told you her full name was "Marlowe's a cute surname!"
Soon however your phone begins to ring, you excuse yourself and go to the hallway to answer whoever was calling.
"Hey! What's up with your roommate? Are they an asshole? It's okay, I live nearby you can-"
"Oh no actually my roommate's awesome! We hit it off so fast!"
"Oh really... Hey, what's their name? Maybe I would know them!" Lauren definitely wasn't planning on searching whoever this bastard is and ruin their reputation inside out.
"Oh her name's Lorelai Marlowe! Super cute and kind! You'd like h-"
"Lorelai Marlowe?? You're dorm buddy is Lorelai Marlowe?? Are you sure??"
"Uh, yeah? That's what she told me at least... Why?"
"Nothing nothing... Say, does she have cool tan skin? Long brown hair? Green eyes?"
"Wow! How'd you know? Are you guys friends?"
"You could say that... Hey listen I gotta go, love ya."
"Oh uh-" And the phone cut off, how weird was it she said Love you? Maybe she just says that to her parents whenever she calls, who knows!
Soon after, when Lauren knew you'd be busy in class (which she skipped) she went on to confront her conniving traitor of a distant cousin, "Hey dickweed." Lauren calls out to Lorelai, she knew your dorm number since you told her, Lorelai spins around surprised to see Lauren standing tall and proud at her door, her face ice cold.
Confused Lorelai smiled awkwardly, "Hey... What are you doing here...? How did you-"
"Doesn't matter, I don't care. But you need to fucking change dorms now."
Lorelai scrunched her face now a little angry and confused, "What? Why?"
"Because what belongs to me is sharing this nasty dorm with you, and I don't want you near them at all. Do you understand? Or do I need to rephrase it for your feeble mind?"
Feeble? What is wrong with her what did Lorelai even do to get Lauren this mad?
Now also getting upset Lorelai attempted to defend herself, "What's yours? Do you even hear yourself? You can't own people Lauren! And fuck you no I'm not changing dorms just because you-"
Lauren was never nice, she never claimed to be, and when she doesn't get her way, she always turns to violence. Much like now, slapping her own family before grasping Lorelai by the shirt collar, "I don't think you heard me, you filthy traitor. Do not ever. EVER. Approach them. They are mine." Lauren aggressively says, damn near spitting on Lorelai's face with how angry she was.
Thrown to the floor by the much more physically talented Lauren, Lorelai coughed watching Lauren walk off.
Lorelai was no quitter, and she'll be damned if she gave into Lauren's harassment.
In fact she will become closer and closer to you, cuddle you when you're sad, help you with your studies, laugh with you. She will pull at your heartstrings until you inevitably choose her. Love Lorelai, kiss Lorelai, touch Lorelai, be passionate with Lorelai.
Or Lorelai would wish, the following day you had been acting a little weird, kind of stand offish but Lorelai chalked it up to being nervous with a new dormmate or something, she didn't have the time to think over it as she woke up late for her morning class. Yet when she returned she found your half completely empty, everything you put up and took the time to organise had been swiped off, it was as empty as when she first saw it.
Lorelai would try all she could to call and text you, only to get caller busy every single fucking time, until she got one singular text from you as her heart jumps from joy.
'lori lori lori i never knew u'd be such a creep lol i told u i wont let u be near whats mine. dont try coming near them so help me god i will fucking kill you.'
It was so painfully obvious that that was Lauren, texting from your phone, yet Lorelai tried one more time to text you, to call you only to find out she's been blocked.
Lorelai's meakness had caused her to lose someone so precious, and allow someone so vile to reap the rewards.
Lorelai should've been more careful, who knows what type of rumours go around, they can even affect roommates. But that's okay, you have Lauren now, caring Lauren, touchy Lauren, winner Lauren.

Skating on Thin Ice - Chapter 22 - Part 2
*Warning - Adult Content*
Elijah Ellis
I rushed to the locker room on Friday afternoon to hand in my permission slip and board the bus for the away game.
"I'm sorry Ian but I can't let you come," I heard Coach Silva say as I rounded the corner toward his office.
My eyebrows furrowed and my steps slowed as I listened in on the conversation.
"Coach," Ian complained.
"My parents would let me skip last period, I just wasn't able to get them to sign the slip."
"I understand that but I can't take you out of class for the game without their permission. You need to go back to class."
Ian let out a loud sigh and nearly bumped into me when he exited Coach's office, sending a scowl my way.
"Looks like you're on your own tonight," Ian muttered, pushing past me to leave the locker room.
Coach came out of his office a moment later.
"Do you have your slip?" he asked me.
I wordlessly nodded and handed it to him.
He checked that I had it signed before motioning his head toward the door.
"You can go out to the bus."
I wasted no time grabbing my hockey bag and rushing out to the bus where the rest of the team, except for Ian, was already waiting.
Fox was leaning back against the bus with his arms crossed over his chest with an impatient look on his face as if he was waiting for me.
"Ian's not coming," I said, stopping in front of him.
"I know. I told him Coach wouldn't let him leave last period without the slip," Fox replied with a sigh.
"What are we going to do?"
Fox let out another exaggerated sigh, leaning his head back.
"We'll probably have to double shift you."
"So you're going to break up another pairing?"
Fox sent me an irritated look.
"Well I can't double shift anyone else. You and Ian are the best defensemen we have, so we need to make up for that loss."
"Yeah. Okay," I agreed, hoping his gaze would soften.
"You're right."
"On the bus, boys," Coach Silva instructed as he came out of the school.
I followed Fox onto the bus and tossed my bag down in the first few seats with the others before sitting down beside Fox, who looked annoyed that I'd decided to accompany him.
"You're really going to sit with me when there's an empty seat right over there?" he asked, raising his eyebrows in question.
I nodded.
"I want to sit with you."
Fox slowly but surely wiped the annoyed look off his face and morphed it into a more content one.
"Hey, can I ask you something?" I asked him as he leaned back in the seat, propping his knees up on the seat in front of us.
"Hmm?"
"What did you talk to Joshua about during the game the other night?"
Fox scoffed.
"A little thing called none of your business."
I had a strong feeling whatever they spoke about was concerning me and I hated being talked about behind my back.
Especially when it was Joshua doing it.
I banged my shoulder into Fox's, shoving him against the window.
He let out a groan of annoyance and sent me a scowl.
"Tell me," I urged him.
He reached toward me and used his hand to push my chest back.
I hated the way my skin burned whenever we had contact or I loved it, I couldn't tell.
"I'm going to knock you into the aisle if you come at me again," Fox warned.
"Just tell me, then."
"No."
I groaned aloud and crossed my arms over my chest, staring down at my lap with a scowl.
My scowl only deepened when I heard a chuckle come from Fox.
When I glanced up at him to shoot him a glare, I was met with a glowing expression.
Fox's smile was wide as he looked down at me and the scowl was knocked off of my face and replaced with an impassive look as my breath hitched in my throat.
The way Fox had been affecting me lately was messing with my head.
All he did was smile at me, actually he laughed at me and all I wanted to do was throw my arms around him and kiss him.
Maybe I did need therapy.
"Fine. Ah... be that way," I stuttered.
All he did was wink at me.
'He just winked at me.'
I swallowed a lump in my throat as I quickly averted my gaze elsewhere.
Fox chuckled from beside me before glancing out the window.
By the time we got to the rink, I couldn't get away from Fox fast enough.
I didn't like the things he was doing to my head, even if he didn't realize he was doing them.
As the bus came to a stop, Fox and I stood up at the same time.
The aisle filled up quick with all the other players, causing me to stand in front of Fox in a rigid stance.
He stood so close to me I could feel the heat from his body on my skin.
When the aisle cleared enough for us to get out of the seat, Fox lightly placed his hand on my lower back to guide me forward.
I jumped at his touch as goosebumps covered me all over.
"Every time I touch you, you act like I burnt you," Fox pointed out as we made our way off the bus.
"What's your deal?"
"Nothing," I muttered, grabbing my back out of one of the front seats and stepping off the bus.
Fox just scoffed as he copied my actions.
I did my best to avoid Fox as we practiced on the ice prior to the game but he made it difficult.
Every chance he got, he skated by me and nonchalantly brushed up against my body.
It was like he was purposely trying to rattle me.
Eventually the game started and I was able to keep my mind off of Fox or so I thought.
My mind was playing tricks on me and I couldn't stop thinking about the way I felt when he touched me or how good he looked when he was so focused on the game.
I was so distracted that I wasn't paying attention during a play and ended up getting launched into the boards head first by the opposing team.
The referee's whistle blew for a penalty as I sat on the ice with my head in my hands.
"Ellis, are you alright?" Fox asked, quickly skating over to me.
I dragged my stare up to him to see a concerned expression on his face and quickly averted my gaze.
Every time I looked at him, I couldn't think straight and it was affecting how I was playing.
Not to mention, I didn't have Ian here to pick up my slack.
I nodded.
"I'm fine."
I kept my eyes away from him as I got up from the ice on my own.
"You need any help to the bench?" he asked, coming toward me with his arm stretched out.
I flinched away from him.
"I'm good. Don't touch me."
I couldn't have him touching me anymore, it did things to my head.
Fox's eyes narrowed into slits before he shook his head and skated to where the face-off would be.
I took my position off to the side and tried to clear my head.
Fox easily won the face-off and batted the puck over to Joshua who brought it to the offensive zone.
I took my place on the point as Joshua went straight for the net.
He passed it off to Alex, who was coming up fast behind him.
The other team blocked Alex and kept him from getting a shot on.
He looked around for a moment before slapping the puck back toward me just as Fox came into my line of view.
Fox's stupid, handsome face distracted me, causing the puck to slide right by my stick and out of the zone.
"Ellis," Fox exclaimed as he skated out of our zone.
I quickly followed behind him.
The other team got a shot on goal, our goalie covering the puck to stop the play and allow us to have a line change.
"What the hell was that, Ellis?" Fox asked in an annoyed tone as we got back to the bench, smacking me in the back of the head.
"Is your head okay?"
I glared at him.
"It was fine until you just hit me."
Fox just rolled his eyes and sat down beside me on the bench.
"Get your head out of the clouds and make the play next time."
I didn't even grant him a response, not being able to think straight with him being so close.
I needed to get him out of my head.
It was obviously doing me no good to have him consuming my thoughts and I guess that was why I played like shit the rest of the night.

Love Me Part 2
PART 1
SUMMARY: After Eddie leaves you for someone else, he realizes he only ever loved you and wants you back.
GENRE: angst
a/n: the highly anticipated part 2 is here! I know a lot of you had all sorts of good ideas for part 2 but I decided to go on my own route with it. I hope you enjoy!
It's still taking you a lot of time to try to get over Eddie. You at least had stopped breaking down at school after seeing him in the hallway. Those days are the hardest. Even if you never really saw him with Chrissy, it didn't matter. Seeing your love without you is painful on its own. Having to suppress the urge to go up and talk to him like nothing had changed, to kiss him just one more time, was excruciating.
You found some new friends. Friends that weren't connected to Eddie. You'd started watching lots of movies at home so you routinely visited the family video store. Steve and Robin were so fun. They were lighthearted, never took anything too seriously. That is except for Steve's attitude toward Eddie.
When you explained why you were spending so much time alone at home watching movies Steve was ready to beat Eddie's ass. You and Robin calmed him down, but he still held a lot of resentment for Eddie. He couldn't believe someone could break the heart of someone as sweet as you. A catch like you.
Eddie eventually asked out Chrissy, but she said no because of her boyfriend, Jason. She became distant after that, not meeting Eddie anymore. Time away from her had Eddie getting ahold of his true feelings.
Guilt. He felt overwhelming amounts of it. He kept replaying the look on your face when he told you, the sound of your voice, the shakiness of your hands. He remembered how you didn't show up to school for a week. He thought about what you were feeling, what kind of heartbreak he inflicted on you. He started to feel bad, truly.
His attraction to Chrissy dissipated and all he was left with was his love for you. He missed skipping first period to go out to breakfast with you. He missed driving you home and he missed the kiss you'd give him at your door. He missed your enthusiasm during the D&D campaigns, and the boys missed you too. In fact, they gave Eddie an earful for losing you. He missed you at his shows especially. He missed you letting loose and head banging just to support him.
He knew he'd made a huge mistake.
He decided to go to your house and see if you were there because he couldn't handle seeing you in school and not talking to you anymore. He wanted to hear that precious voice of yours.
He knocked and nervously waited until the door opened, you instantly looking surprised to see him at your doorstep.
"Eddie?" He opens his mouth to say something but he can't find the words, so his mouth just stays slightly agape. Finally though, he gets there.
"Can I come in?" He missed seeing you up close like this.
"I guess..." You step aside to let him in.
"What's this about? And keep it brief because I'm expecting Steve." You say with your arms crossed.
"Steve? I thought you hated guys like that." You keep a straight face.
"I guess I've changed then."
"Listen, Y/n. I know when we lasted talked I was saying stuff about Chrissy and us and I just- I don't actually feel that way. Anymore." You hated hearing his honey-like voice. It hurt. You were confused. He waits for you to say something but the words never come. So he continues,
"I miss you, Y/n. A lot. I'm bad with words- you know that- but I'm just..." Your frustration bubbles and your eyes start to well at his confession.
"I'm just so sorry." A tear finally falls.
"Baby, please don't cry I hate when you do that." He says, taking a step toward and laying a hand on your shoulder. You shrug it off and step back.
"You didn't seem to hate it so much when you told me about Chrissy." You whisper and sniffle. He doesn't know what to say. He did hate it, but why didn't he say anything then?
"You hurt me, Eddie. You can't just expect me to fall back into your arms because you miss me." Your voice gets more confident and loud with each word you say.
"I love you." You make a genuine frown and look away.
"Not enough." The words seemed to hurt your mouth as you spoke. How could he tell you he loves you after having left you for someone else? It was infuriating.
"Let me show you. I'll love you harder, just give me a cha-"
"No! I am not giving you the opportunity to hurt me like that again. I cant even look at you, Eddie." You start to break, all your frustration started to come out. The doorknob starts to turn and Steve enters your house. The second he sees Eddie and your tear stained face, his anger was visible. He felt the thick tension in the room.
"What the hell are you doing here?" Steve approaches Eddie.
"I-" You bite your nail and the tears begin to rush out faster.
"Get the fuck out. Now." Steve spits, shoving Eddie toward the door. Eddie leaves and you fall into Steve's arms, he holds you tight as you sob into his shoulder. You miss Eddie, but he hurt you too bad.

warning: implied noncon, implied stalking, implied murder (all not graphic)
The school atmosphere was grim since that body turned up.
Trips were canceled left and right, police kept patrolling the area, staff and pupils were questioned and parents pulled their daughters out of school completely.
And it all started a month ago when the body of a girl one grade below you was found in an alleyway after not returning home from school. It was abnormal, the mother called the police right away but who actually found her was a freshman. Nobody knew where he was or how he was doing but he never showed up to school again and students were urged to leave the family alone. Something about the police not wanting information to slip through to the public - in other words, the corpse must‘ve looked gruesome.
Students - especially girls - were advised to stay in groups, to call the police on any suspicious looking person no matter how trivial. It made for a horrible summer. The school kept making headlines and the fear mongering was at an all time high.
Rumors went around the school that the girl had no face - sliced clean off. People said she was prostituting herself and came across the wrong clientele. People said it was suicide. The teachers couldn’t stop the hearsay so they turned their ears and eyes towards something else.
With a heavy sigh, you stood up from the gym floor. Gym as last period was fucked. Whoever came up with that was insane. You couldn‘t wait to get home, didn‘t even bother to partake in any activities today.
“I‘m sorry, Sir… I forgot my uniform.“
Yeah right. You patted your skirt down and the teacher made the few students that sat the lesson out help with cleanup.
“y/n. Are your parents picking you up? It‘s getting late.“ You looked up into the old face of your teacher, dropping the last volleyball into the collection of other balls. “No. They work. But it‘s ok.“
“Alright. I would really recommend you to try and find someone to walk with. I have a daughter your age. We don‘t need more tragedies.“
You nodded, unease in your limbs because as much as you tried to move forward, the incident was still on your mind too. His warm hand found your shoulder and he offered a smile. “Maybe Tenko can walk you home. I know his father. He lives close by.“
You glanced across the gym, spotting the boy crouched down and fumbling with his backpack. The teacher already approached him and when he got close, you saw Tenko snap his head backwards like a startled animal.
Everyone knew Tenko Shimura was a particular kid. He was quiet, easy to pick on and students did. You felt sorry but something about the boy just felt off. Maybe it was his nature of insulting anyone who got too close to him. Teachers usually excused his prickly attitude. He had it rough. Everyone knew about his sister and how she passed when he was little. You didn‘t know the details but you heard Tenko was there and saw everything that happened.
Tenko stood up from the ground, nodding along to whatever the teacher said to him and his eyes drifted towards you, bloodshot and unblinking. You smiled at him, awkward and nervous but he just averted his eyes again before the teacher lightly clapped his back and went back into the supply closet to put the rest of the equipment away.
You stood there, rooted to the ground until Tenko stalked towards you with a hunched back and low head. “Aren‘t you coming?“ His voice was labored and hoarse, like he severely overused it recently and you had to admit that you never stood so close to him. His hair hung over his eyes in greasy strands and despite skipping gym today, he smelled like dry sweat and something sugary.
“Uh, yeah. Thanks for walking with me.“ You tried to be casual as his right hand shot up to scratch at his neck. His fingernails had dried blood underneath them, edges jagged and overgrown. He didn‘t reply as he left the gym with you close behind.
“It‘s cold, isn‘t it?“ You rubbed your arms as you walked on the sidewalk along a barely busy street. “Not really.“ Well, there goes your attempt to break the ice. You laughed a little nervously but went silent again.
“They found her here.“ You looked to your side as you passed an alleyway. It felt like freezing water trickled down your spine. “Uh, yeah. I think so…“ You couldn‘t help but walk closer to Tenko. This area was so peaceful before this.
“Did you know her?“ You softly shook your head and Tenko hummed, a deep sound from his chest.
“You’re nervous.“ It wasn’t a question, he wasn’t asking about your feelings. Tenko made an observation and you tried to laugh about it but it came out as a toneless breath. “A little. This is just… It‘s sick.“ When Tenko didn’t answer, you looked over at him just to find him staring at you with those beady eyes. Did he ever blink?
“All the girls are kind of scared, Shimura. The teachers all make it sound like they targeted her specifically…“ You knew they were just protecting everyone but sometimes you couldn’t help but wish for some details. It didn’t help that students said the killer was probably a student. Maybe a teacher even.
“Mh. She was raped after all. They must’ve had a hard time even recognizing her like that.“
Your mind blanked out for a second. “What?“ Your own voice sounded foreign to you. The sidewalk was tilting and flip flopping in circles. You were in your neighborhood. Tenko looked at you but didn’t answer. “Shimura… They never told anyone those details. She- She was a minor, they weren’t allowed to tell anyone.“
Tenko stopped and you looked back at him. “We‘re at your house.“ You looked around. Sure enough, you stood in front of your doorsteps, car gone from the driveway and no lights anywhere. “Shimura, how do you know where I live?“
His eyes were unblinking, if they did it was far and few between and slow like he was sedated. You backed up, almost blindly falling over the two steps leading to your door. Tenno stood still and just stared. “I really- uh, I have to go. Thank you again.“
When you turned around to fumble with your keys, there were big footsteps and a presence right at your back, inches away from touching. “Are your parents home?“ His voice was right in your ear but it sounded like he was speaking from inside your head. “Yes.“ Tenko hummed again, boney fingers gripping your shaky wrist with the key and guiding it to the keyhole. “Why would you lie? They work today. They come back at 5 am, don’t they?“ Finally, you ripped yourself away from him, lashing out behind you. Your hand connected with something and Tenko made a small grunt. “Please leave.“ You looked behind yourself and Tenko held his hand on his lip where you struck him with your key. While he winced and looked at the blood, you unlocked the door and tried to slip through a narrow crack you could close quickly.
Once inside, Tenko lodged his foot in the ajar door and with strength you didn’t think a scrawny teen had, he rammed the door open with his shoulder which made you stumble back and fall on your ass hard.
Tenko closed the door and with two long steps, he stood over you. Your vision started to blur and you tried to crawl backwards. Your phone battery was dead. You needed the landline from the kitchen. “Shimura…“ It was a plead but he didn’t let you go far with it.
“Don’t call me that! I hate that name. It‘s his name.“ You just nodded, trying to do anything that wouldn’t make him angry. He was crazy. He was fucking insane. “O-Ok. Ok, Tenko.“
“Where do you think you’re going? Stay here.“ Tenko closed in, leaning down to wrap an ice cold hand around your ankle and pull you back. “Didn’t you want to know how I found out what happened to that girl?“
Slowly, you shook your head. “Just- Go. Please just leave.“ You whimpered when his fingers traced your cheek. He smeared something wet on your skin and you realized that it was a tear. You were crying and Tenko watched you with the same wide eyed stare, indifferent.
“You did it…“, you whispered and Tenko tilted his head to the side before he grinned so wide that the dry skin under his eyes crinkled and cracked. He wheezed a little. “Why? What do you want from me?“ You wailed, hysteric and urgent. You wanted him to leave you alone. You never even spoke to him before.
“You were so curious before. Don’t you want me to show you what happened to that poor little slut? Huh?!“ Something akin to anger bled into his tone and you sobbed, twisted onto your stomach to get away but Tenko just twisted your ankle until you cried harder.
“Come on. I‘ll show you.“

An Easy Step
Here ---Chapter 2>
The finale got me in the mood to write, and so i tried my hand at a A short one-shot dealing with the time-skip period in "The hardest thing" from a the perspective of a Sasha who is pining for Anne.
Hope you guys like it.
---
Sasha sat at the lunch table, just staring over at the mane of beautiful, poofy brown hair.
She didn't hear what the guy Anne was talking to said, but she heard Anne's laugh clear as day as if it was a well-honed sword cutting through the monotonous talk of the rest of the cafeteria's teenagers.
Just go ask her.
It was such a simple thing. Just get up from her chair, walk over, and ask Anne to go to prom with her.
Simple. Easy.
She'd done so, so many things way, WAY harder than that. She'd fought giant killer birds, giant robots, and an eldritch robot moon.
And yet… Somehow, none of that had been half as hard as just standing up and going to walk over to Anne and ask her out.
It was stupid. Idiotic. Completely against how she wanted to live her life. She'd faced so many worse situations than this.
She put her fingers on the table, prepared to push herself up...
What if she says no?
She froze.
What if she says she doesn't swing that way?
Then slowly, she sank back down in her seat.
Coward. A deeper part of her said. The part that spoke with Grime's old voice. God, she missed that old softie.
You're about to lose the battle, without even lifting your sword! Fight! Go over there, and ask Anne out for Prom, before someone ELSE does.
It would probably have worked if Grime was actually there to say it. He wasn't though.
She remained in her seat, just watching Anne talk to someone else.
---
Sasha leaned against the wall, putting on a show of someone who was lowkey enjoying herself but didn't want to get engaged with the big festivities.
It was such an out-of-character move for the party girl extraordinaire that if her entire current friend group wasn't currently busy out on the dance floor themselves, they probably would have been worried about her.
As it was, Sasha was alone, and all she was currently doing, was staring at one couple.
She didn't know the guy. She'd never talked to him in her two years of high school, nor even known he existed.
Yet it was startling just how much she found herself Hating him. Hating him in a way she hadn't hated anyone since… Well, Andrias and the Core really.
It was stupid. She knew it was stupid. This guy hadn't stabbed Anne, or hurt anyone she loved. As far as she was aware, he hadn't done anything that warranted hate.
She hated him anyway. She hated him with a passion that Burned!
That was him though. A random nobody she had never met, did not know and could impose upon whatever feelings she pleased.
What really shook her to her core, was Anne.
She was… Happy. Truly, genuinely happy, laughing, dancing, and having the time of her life.
Without her. With someone else.
It hurt… It hurt so bad… It was like someone had jammed a knife through her heart, twisted it, and then left it there.
There was a part of her, the old part of her, that was deep deep down under lock and key, that felt an incredible urge to go over there, and punch Anne's partner in the face. Or humiliate him in a dozen other ways.
She forced down that urge. Old memories stirred, memories of a throne room, and a beautiful face, twisted in rage and anger.
She'd hurt Anne before.
Never again.
And so she just stood there, a cup in hand, watching as the most wonderful girl in the world danced with someone else.
---
Anne's first relationship lasted 7 months.
Sasha felt a sharp pang of relief and joy when hearing the news… That immediately evaporated into guilt when she saw Anne crying.
Selfish. God that was a selfish emotion.
The stab of guilt over being happy at the news stabbed her harder when Anne hugged her and just began crying her eyes out on her shoulder.
Her, not any of her other, newer friends.
That thought just made her feel even more guilty.
Anne still held her so high, and here she was feeling happy that Anne's relationship had gone bust-up?
She then did what any good friend would do. She consoled. She let Anne cry on her shoulder. She let her pour her heart out and Sasha listened to her.
She did all she could to comfort her.
Like a good friend should.
---
Sasha had hoped their relationship would regrow back to the old strength after that, but it didn't.
And to her frustration, she felt like it was her fault.
She tried to fit in with Anne's new friends, she really did, but… There was always a hesitance on her part.
A reluctance to truly invest herself. She wasn't able to do it. Not without telling Anne how she felt.
And so she just… Tagged along. She and Anne still got along, but… Not her or any of the rest. They tolerated her. No more, no less.
It lasted right up until Anne got a second boyfriend. At that point, things just… Fell apart.
It didn't end in a big explosion or climax just… A whimper.
---
The day they all went their separate ways for college was… Hard for her.
As she stood there, looking as Anne and her boyfriend were about to head on a train, Sasha for the first time, felt like she truly understood what Marcy had felt the day her parents told her they were moving.
An incredible sense of fear and uncertainty.
Unlike Marcy though, she had no way out. Not that she would have taken it if she had. This… This was what Anne wanted. What made her happy.
She just… Plastered on a smile, and gave Anne a big, strong hug. At least she didn't have to pretend she wasn't crying.
Then, it was goodbye. One moment, Anne, the girl who had been her light in the days when her parents had broken up, was still there waving.
Then the doors closed, and… She was gone.
A sense of cold, cold uncertainty slowly crept in then, despite the Californian weather.
---
College worked out rather great for Sasha.
She got good grades, she was popular(Just like always), and she made a strong circle of friends.
Hell, she even felt real, genuine passion about where she planned to go in life, which was better than most of the people around her.
Yes, it was a great time.
What was not a great time… Was her dating life.
She'd once thought Anne's first relationship had been a quick, and short thing.
In her years of college, Sasha had exactly one relationship that did not go bust after just a couple of months.
The guys and girls all had various problems with her. Some more than one, though generally, the reasons were vague and non-committal. Two were honestly surprised that she thought of it as a relationship and not just a random fling.
She really hoped that it was a case of them being assholes, and not her giving off that vibe.
But it was only the final one, the one that had lasted the longest, that actually gave her a straight answer.
You're so passionate Sasha, about everything really. It's what I love about you… But… You're not passionate about us. And that's what matters.
And that had been that. In one sentence, the girl had shattered her entire sense of confidence regarding her romantic relationships.
She sure as hell had felt passionate about them. The tears of rage, sadness, and frustration she shed when they broke had seemed proof enough of that.
But after that last conversation… She couldn't be sure. And that… Stung hard. So hard.
---
The years after school was over, was in many ways a similar story.
She enjoyed her work, she liked helping kids overcome their trauma, she quickly became popular amongst her coworkers and kept in touch with old and new friends. Materially speaking, her life was great.
She was happy, she was able to support herself through her own work, and she had friends around her.
Romantically speaking though, her life had never been worse.
Not even back in high school where she'd been pinning for Anne.
Hooking someone was easy. She was beautiful, rich, and charismatic.
Keeping them was hard, though for a different reason than in College.
It took her 4 months too long the first time she realized she was in a toxic relationship.
Her girlfriend had been BAD for her. In many ways, she had reminded her so much of herself. She'd thought that had been wonderful.
After the mess she'd become in College when it came to her romantic relationships at the end, it had felt SOO good to just… Be with someone who made her happy, who shared her interests, temperament, and passions.
She'd been so happy to feel truly loved again, that she'd overlooked every warning bell, every red flag, and she'd put up with things that the Sasha of old would have shut down immediately.
That had incidentally been the spark she needed. Because her then-girlfriend had indeed been like her… The old her. A her that she could have become if things had gone differently. If she had remained that old person.
She had tried to talk things out, but… It didn't last.
It had taken her months to feel ready to try again.
The next few relationships hadn't gone as bad, but they always ended the same. Sometimes quickly, sometimes longer.
It came to a point where she got used to flings and the momentary, safe joy they brought.
Those weren't bad… But they weren't for her.
She wanted… Love. Real, genuine love. The kind where her partner would be there for her, and actually listen to her, instead of acting like… Well like she had once upon a time.
It was ironic really. She had tried so, so hard to become someone better, someone, different. And yet here she was, still dealing with all the same issues, all these years later.
Just from the other side.
---
It started as a whim really.
It wasn't like Sasha didn't have ANY contact with Anne, no more than she hadn't had any contact with Marcy, but… Well, she hadn't actually seen her in person in years.
But she knew from a message from her that she now had gotten a job at an aquarium in the city.
It started when she looked up at her social media accounts out of curiosity, wanting to see what she was up to, which were all locked for replies from anyone she didn't know, but… It did show her relationship status.
Single.
It was such a simple word.
She hadn't expected it to be honest.
She had known that Anne had broken up with her second boyfriend, but she had thought surely she would have gotten another one by now.
As she pulled out her phone, Sasha felt… Strange. A bit fearful, a bit silly, a bit… Well, a large part of her felt like an idiot.
She saw her high school crush was currently available and THIS was her reaction?
She'd considered reaching out to Anne before, but for various reasons had not, and THIS was what ultimately made her do it?
She was a 24-year-old woman, not a teenager anymore.
Then she tried to figure out what to say.
In the end, she settled on just saying hello, and asking if she was free sometime this week.
She almost dropped the phone on her face when almost instantly, the reply "All Friday, yeah, where do you wanna meet up?"
Her brain, not having expected an answer on the spot, panicked and just typed in her favorite cafe.
Then, realizing she'd sent it already, she hastily added "14.00, that fine by you?"
The reply came immediately.
"Sure! Se you then Sash!"
Sasha just stared at the reply in silence, her mind in shock.
That had been… So easy.
So incredibly easy.
Laughably easy.
---
There was rarely a time in her life when Sasha had been as nervous as she was waiting by the Caffe.
She'd been worried about a lot of things, how to dress, what to say, what she would talk about, would this be awkward? God, what would she do if this turned awkward?
"SASHA!"
She snapped around.
And there she was. Anne Boonchuy.
Sasha had expected to be happy to see her again. And she was. What she wasn't expecting was how amazing Anne looked.
She was wearing a beige set of pants, and a hideous green shirt, both obviously being her work uniform given that the shirt had an Aquarium logo on the front.
She was the most beautiful thing Sasha had ever seen.
Her big, brown poofy hair was now in a high ponytail, but other than that… She still looked the exact same as Sasha remembered her.
The same face, the same brown eyes, and the same adorable, cute grin.
Anne caught her in a bearhug, which Sasha returned wholeheartedly. It felt… Incredibly good to just be hugged. She'd missed this. No strings attached, no worries about ulterior motives, just… Pure, honest affection.
"I've missed you!"
She grinned.
"I've missed you too."
And she had. God almighty she had.
---
Sasha had been worried about them becoming awkward, but they didn't. At all.
During those next 3 hours, Sasha learned a lot about Anne's past since they had parted ways.
And yet it didn't feel dull, or boring. On the contrary, it felt like a breath of fresh air. Not just to hear, but also to tell.
Both of them had plenty of stories to share since they last saw each other.
It continued for 4 hours, them just talking, laughing, and all-around having a good time.
As they parted ways, sasha felt… Well, she felt giddy, but also kinda like an idiot.
Why hadn't she done this before? It had been… Such an easy step. She'd promised she'd meet up again at Anne's birthday, which was a week and a half from then.
As she walked the way back to her apartment she pulled out her phone and tasted a number she hadn't in quite a while.
Like before, she got an answer almost immediately.
And just like that time, it was immediately positive. Why hadn't she done this ages ago?
Because you were scared. A part of her said scornfully.
Because you were afraid of things going wrong.
Of Anne telling you she didn't want you.
That's why you let that relationship fade away.
It was true though. She had been afraid. Afraid of Anne's reaction. So afraid of rejection, that she had let it come to this.
As expected Marcy was all for it, and apparently she was able to come with no problem. Apparently, she'd built up 6 months of pages ready to be released weekly. That sounded like… A lot. Maybe she should actually read it before she met up with Mar Mar again.
As the call ended, Sasha considered how to proceed.
She didn't want this relationship to die again. She hadn't realized just how much she had missed it, missed Anne, and yes, missed Marcy too, before she'd talked to Anne again.
She didn't want this relationship to fade again.
And that meant… She could not halfass it again. She had to invest herself into it. Truly and completely.
It was a scary thought… But somehow, it didn't seem as scary to her as it had back in her youth.
The truth was, that her going all the way, no matter how it ended... one way or another was just like asking Anne if she had free time to spend together with her.
It was an easy step.

best friend’s daddy - part three
Warnings: dark!andy barber, language, mentions of age difference, mentions of sex, underage drinking, pregnancy
Word count: 4.8k
Summary: A series of snapshots with your past and current life with Andy Barber.
[highly requested—and i mean highly]
masterlist
Newton, MA - 2017 Homecoming Game
He saw you immediately, shamelessly staring at the bright, yet fake smile slapped on your face as you posed for the picture. Andy's eyes drifted to the football players arms around your waist, too far down for the assistant district attorney's liking, not that he could do anything about it. He was unable to contain the eye roll when one of the players pressed a quick kiss on your cheek while you looked at the camera.
Andy knew he had no right feeling that way. He knew you thought he hated you. The glares, the tone he used, the disapproval glances he gave Jacob whenever you were with him. It was enough evidence for you to think he didn't want you around. He didn't. But not for the same reasons as you think.
Jacob ran past him, pulling you into a hug as the players around you ran back to their pre-game huddle, hyping themselves up. He heard your laugh, his previous annoyance washing away as he listened, wishing he didn't have to keep up his act. Instead, he watched from afar, noticing the fake smile replaced by a genuine one as you hugged your best friend, your cheer skirt rising before dropping back to it's already short length as soon as Jacob let you go.
Like the years before, Laurie didn't come to the homecoming game, claiming she was far too busy with work but Andy wasn't dumb. He could see it in her face everyday, helplessly watching his wife distance herself from him. But he couldn't blame her; he was doing the same. After all, not everything is supposed to last forever.
He secretly admired you, silently praising your will to pursue the career you wanted despite the very many attempts, and lectures from your parents about becoming a lawyer. Andy had gotten calls from them, more than happy to show you around the building with your parents hope of you magically being interested in what they had planned. But you were stubborn, and you hadn't backed down. He was impressed.
You glanced at Andy, surprised he wasn't glaring at you but rather staring at you with an expression you couldn't quite place, and you quickly diverted your eyes back to Jacob. "I'm so glad you came! Thank you for not being a total nerd tonight."
"My dad practically dragged me out of the house, grumbling about how I had to support my best friend when she's on the cheerleading team." Jacob explained, motioning to his father, the older Barber climbing the stairs as he claimed a spot on the bleachers next to your father. "I think it was just an excuse to watch a game that didn't feature the Patriots."
Once again, you were surprised. As said before, you thought he didn't care for your presence; to hear he wanted his son to support you was surprisingly shocking no matter how small it was. "Oh. Looks like he and Dad are gossiping again. Your mom didn't come?"
"No, she had work. What about yours?" asked Jacob.
"Business trip." you answered, sarcasm dripping from your voice. You saw the Instagram posts her friends posted, the so-called business trip had turned into a vacation with the girls. You heard your name being yelled, your cheer squad waving you over. Turning back to Jacob, you smiled. "They're calling me over so I gotta go. I'll find you after halftime, okay? We can ditch."
Jacob arched a brow, the corner of his lips twitching up. "But you're head cheerleader. Aren't you supposed to stay for the whole game?"
"Nah, Leila can take over after halftime. I'll just make up an excuse and say I went off with a guy or something." you said, tightening your ponytail. "Oh, and don't use the last stall in the boy's bathroom. Pretty sure someone had sex in that."
"Pretty sure that someone was you." he replied, grinning as you flipped him off. He laughed when you nearly ran into toddler, apologizing to the little person before running to the squad.
Jacob joined Andy and your father, answering questions from your dad, and listening to the two fathers talk about the mundane life as the game started. Andy's vision kept drifting off to you, cheering on the sidelines as the game, accidentally missing parts of the game. Not that he minded to much, he had a nice view, and he knew the score. It wasn't that much of an inconvenience for him.
Before halftime, you snuck away, going into the school to grab another hair tie from your locker. Thankfully, the field was close to the west side of the school, the locker bay only a short walk from the entrance. Coincidentally, just as you walked towards the bathroom with the hair tie, Andy bumped into you, the phone in his hand dropping to the floor.
"Oh, shit." you cursed, quickly bending down, grabbing the phone and handing it back to your best friend's dad. "Sorry, Mr. Barber, I wasn't looking."
Andy sighed, studying his phone instead of giving into the urge to comfort your tense state. For the millionth time, he wished he didn't have to act like a dick to you. "It's fine. Just watch where your going or you might head into the mens' room."
Not knowing whether he was serious or not, you gave an awkward nod, walking pass him. You hadn't seen the lingering glance he gave you before walking back to the game. Pushing on the bathroom door, you let yourself drown in your jitters, hyping yourself up before coming back and performing.
You had forgotten about Andy by the time you returned.
—
Newton, MA - May 14, 2018
Andy heard the knock, getting out of his seat to unlock the door. A presence befall him, a feeling he only got when you were nearby. With that thought, he immediately opened the door, greeted by the sight of you soaking from the rainfall, shivering, eyes slightly swollen, and downright miserable.
He called out your name in surprise, shocked to see you in such a messy state, let alone see you in his office. "What happened? Come in, come in. Are you okay?"
"Sorry, I—" you shivered, biting your lip to keep from spilling every problem you had faced on him. "It was raining so hard that I had to stop so I wouldn't crash or anything. And this was the closest building I parked to. I ran inside but I guess it didn't make any difference seeing how soaked I am."
Andy wrapped his jacket around your shoulders, unable to find a stray blanket or anything warm to give you. He led you to the leather couch, softly pushing you down to sit on it. "Come here, sit down. Did school end early?"
"No, um, I skipped." you sniffed, sinking down on the leather, letting Andy's coat fall over your shoulders. "I had a fight with my mom. A big one. So, I didn't exactly feel that great to come to school and I've been driving around since eight."
"Sweetheart, you're soaked. You're going to get sick." Andy murmured, wiping his warm hand over your forehead, the little droplets of water wetting his hand. "I have some clean clothes in my gym bag. Tell me what you were fighting about, it might make you feel better."
You watched him grab his duffel bag from under his desk, opening your mouth to protest but the cold, wet clothes made you close it. "I made some backhand comment about having a job in fashion, then she just blew up. She wants me to be a lawyer, go to the best schools, and be successful even if I'm not happy. I told her to fuck off, yelling that I'll do what I want. She didn't like that answer, so I grabbed my keys and drove around."
Andy gave you his Patriots shirt, and a clean pair of sweats, taking his wet jacket from you. You whispered a thank you, before taking off your dripping shirt, not caring Andy was watching. He cleared his throat, diverting his eyes away from your half-naked body. "Well, what did you want to be? What do you want to do after school?"
"I don't really know, except for the fact that I don't want to be a lawyer, that's for sure." you replied, putting on the sweatpants Andy gave you, relishing in the warmth. "I'm sorry for getting your couch wet, I—"
"It's okay, don't worry about it, sweetheart. Are you okay, now? Do you want me to do something about it?" Andy asked, unsure to hug you so he settled for an awkward pat on your shoulder, moving closer to you.
You scoffed, fidgeting with the hem of the large Patriots t-shirt, rolling your eyes at the question. "Trust me, there's nothing you could do about it. They're both so persistent on me being this successful lawyer that it doesn't matter if I want to be one. Tell me, Mr. Barber, what's so fucking great about being one?"
He bit back a smile, shifting on the couch until he was touching you, the serotonin you gave him encouraged Andy to brush back your dripping hair behind your ear, tilting your chin up to meet his gaze. With wide eyes, and a slight frown, you meet his eyes. "Well, firstly, you're able to help people. In layman's terms, you either can defend a client, or prosecute a criminal. Putting the bad guys away. Um, you can meet new people, have some experiences that's unlikely for others. But, you're right. You shouldn't have to do what you're parents have planned for you."
"Try telling them that." you sniffled, goosebumps appearing on your arms, subconsciously leaning your cheek on Andy's hand. He heard the angelic sigh escape from your lips, his smile appearing. "Thank you for the clothes and everything Mr. Barber."
"Don't mention it." he replied, bravely wrapping his arms around your slightly shivering body. Andy felt you tense for a few moments before slowly relaxing, shifting so he could rest his chin on your head, his thumb rubbing soft circles on your back. After a few minutes of silence, Andy reluctantly broke the silence. "Would you like me to call Jacob?"
He saw the flash of hurt in your eyes before you composed your expression, nodding slowly as you pulled away. "Yeah, I'll call him. He has free period so he won't be missing anything, I promise. Sorry for keeping you from work, Mr. Barber."
Andy shook his head, helping you up from the couch. "No, no, no. I just had some papers to go through, you didn't keep me from anything. The rain is slowing but you can stay in here until Jake comes. If you want."
You nodded, giving him a weak smile. "Thank you."

The Barber House - June 1, 2018
Giggling uncontrollably, you leaned against Jacob, a bottle of beer in your hand. Jacob laughed over the cartoon character with you, throwing his head back at the ridiculous scene on screen. Scooby had just stared at the screen, ending the episode, the screen turning black before another episode started. The noise Scooby made just had you and Jacob in another fit of uncontrollable laughter.
The sleepover had been spontaneous, yet long way overdue. In less than a week, you'd have graduated, and moved out of Boston, living in New York City as you went to the same college. That was one of the upside of finally leaving Newton, but even with the continuous nagging from your parents, you were still going to miss them.
You had been extra quiet, knowing full well Andy was stressed for something Laurie had done, the wife walking out of the house just as you had pulled up on the driveway. She had given you a friendly greeting, asking questions about graduation, before hugging you and driving away in her car. You knew it was bad as soon as you entered the house, seeing Andy glaring at the kitchen counter as you waited for Jacob to come save you. Thankfully, you didn't have to make small talk with the lawyer.
But the his tense expression was enough to keep you quiet in Jacob's room. Well, until he turned up with beers he had gotten from a mutual friend of yours, Cory Gilbert, the bartender at the bar and grill you and Jacob frequented at. He was over 21, legally able to buy the beer, giving it to Jacob as a present for graduation. Cory had given you a nice bottle of brandy, but you had decided to save it for graduation night instead.
Getting drunk hadn't been hard, for Jacob anyways; it took more than a few pleads from your already drunk friend to convince you to drink with him. Once you did, you felt the liquid slightly burn down your throat and you greeted the giddy feeling it left you. Soon, you were found leaning against Jacob's bed, sitting on the floor as the both of you cackled at the animations playing on the screen.
Andy still hadn't came up to hush the both of you; and to be honest, you weren't sure to be relieved or disappointed. You settled for relieved once as you saw Scooby and Shaggy running away from a "monster."
It was half past ten when you finally got up from your spot on the floor, leaving Jacob to drunkenly slur at his phone while the tv played in the background. Getting up, you headed to the bathroom, careful not to make anymore sounds than you already had. You were too drunk to notice Andy standing outside his door, arms crossed as he amusingly stared at your little tip-toe walk to the bathroom.
You finished your business, washing your hands, and heading back to Jacob's room when you lost your footing and stumbled into Andy's arms. You yelped in alarm, glad for the muscular arms that caught you. Looking up, you saw what your drunk brain could only describe as Adonis. You smiled, patting his pec as you slurred. "Thank you, Mr. Barber."
"How drunk are you, sweetheart?" Andy asked, not letting you go. He felt you swaying slightly in his arms, bringing you closer to his chest until your face was only a couple of inches away from his. His eyes flickered to your lips, his tongue licking his own. "You look flushed."
Giggling, you couldn't help but grin at the human contact. You had been so sure he hated you, but from your current position, your assumption seemed silly. "You're making me blush. Me and Jacob haven't been drank—drinking that much, pinky swear."
He snickered at the tiny slip up with your grammar, the slowness and laziness in your voice evidence enough if it hadn't been for the burst of confidence, and shouts from Jacob's room. "You shouldn't be lying, especially to a lawyer. Let's get you sobered up, wouldn't want you waking up with a bitch of a hangover tomorrow, now would we?"
Andy places a hand on your back, his hand intertwining with yours as he tried to lead you downstairs safely but you halted in the middle of the hallway, laughing as you sneaked behind him. You tapped his shoulder, trying to push him down. "Gimme a piggy back ride, Mr. Barber. Like the ones you gave me when I was four!"
The lawyer burst out laughing, finding your drunk confidence adorable. He couldn't help but agree, squatting down enough for you to climb onto his back, your legs wrapping around his waist, your arms locking around his neck. Andy held your legs in place with his hands, shifting you upwards so you rested comfortably on his back. Turning his head, he raised an eyebrow. "You ready, princess?"
You nodded in response, your hair ticking his neck as you snuggled closer to his neck, nuzzling your cheek. All the alcohol had rushed to your head. Andy walked down the stairs, careful to keep his grip on you as he did so. He heard all the tiny giggles and gasps you made, his bad mood dissolving with each sound. He couldn't remember a time Laurie had made him that happy.
Reaching the kitchen, Andy sat you down on the kitchen island, reluctantly letting you go as he went to grab a glass of water. He gave you the glass, but you rejected it, too busy looking at the game on the tv, seeing past the arch and into the living room.
He set the glass on the counter, leaning against it as he crossed his arms, staring at the mesmerized—and drunk—girl in admiration. You turned your attention back on him as soon as the commercials rolled, catching him ogling you. Blushing, you giggled once again, waving him over.
Curious, Andy stepped towards you, surprised when you gripped the collar of his shirt, dragging him closer to you until he was only a couple of inches away. Leaning in, you whispered in his ear. "I have a secret."
"What is it?" Andy asked, one word away from kissing his son's best friend. The tension radiating from interaction had him weak, helpless from the very tempting chance to take you right there and then.
Cupping your hand around your lips, you felt him snake between your legs, bringing you even closer. With your lips near his ear, you whispered, "I have the biggest crush on you. Sometimes I wish you were single so I could ride you until I physically can't."
Andy growled, his hands digging into your waist as his lips hovered over yours, his blue eyes piercing yours. He murmured your name, so close to losing all of his control.
"Every time I come over, I hope you'd push me against a wall, rip my shirt off and fuck a baby in me." you confessed, loving his body warmth. His grip had tighten on you to the point it was borderline painful, but you relished in it, the alcohol numbing the rational thoughts in your head as they screamed at you to shut up.
The lawyer was so close to doing what you wanted, nearly taking you right there. But much to his dismay, his morals had held him back; surely all it would take would be another sentence murmured from your lips but he considered himself strong. "Sweetheart..."
Just as Andy's lips brushed over yours, loud, heavy footsteps made him pull away, spotting his son drunkenly enter the kitchen. You smiled brightly at Jacob as if you hadn't been about to kiss his father. Andy raised an eyebrow at his son, irritated for interrupting. "Jacob, what're you doing?"
"I—" the boy frowned, forgetting momentarily on what he was doing. Jacob pointed at you, returning a random wave. "I was looking for her, because I got worried she fell in the toilet or something."
"She's fine, I was just sobering her up." Andy answered before you could, reluctantly helping you off the table, wishing he had a few more minutes alone with you. "Don't let your mom see all those bottles when she gets home. She won't be lenient as I am."
Jacob saluted in response, watching his dad help his best friend off the table. He was too drunk to notice the longing looks you had exchanged with Andy. "Okay, dad. Night."
Andy stood in the kitchen, alone, watching his girl giggle at something his son whispered. With more confidence than ever, he pulled out the manila envelope from the kitchen drawer, placing it on the table. Laurie would find it when she comes back.

Newton, MA - July 4, 2021
"You're so fat." Jacob commented, eyes widening when he felt the baby kick. Without much thought, he invaded your personal space, placing his cheek against your stomach. You sighed, rolling your eyes at your best friend. Jacob chuckled. "This little guy is gonna be a soccer superstar. Like Cristiano Ronaldo."
Andy chuckled from the driver's seat, pulling into the driveway, pulling Jacob off your stomach and back to his seat. "Don't antagonize her, Jake. She might rip your head off for breathing the same air without her permission."
Childishly, you stuck your tongue, making your baby daddy burst out laughing before as he turned off the car and opened the door. But you could hardly say his comment was an exaggeration, grimacing at the memory of nearly snapping Andy's arm off when he had forgotten the almond milk from the weekly visits to the grocery store. It had been both a blessing and curse to have Jacob in the outs of the pregnancy when that incident occurred. You hadn't wanted him to see the growing bump.
With the help of both Barbers, you got out of the car, carefully and slowly for the sake for both you and the babies. The two were chatting as they unloaded the baggage from trunk while you made your way to the house, reminiscing in the days when Jacob's glances weren't filled with betrayal, as if you had ripped his heart from his chest.
It wasn't everyday he looked at you with that raw emotion in his eyes—the betrayed looks had started to decrease the more time you spent together—yet you still felt guilty. With a hand over your growing belly, you opened the door, bombarded with memories from childhood, once again reminding you who you were having a baby with.
Once Jacob had sprinted out of the room, in anger and denial after seeing his father tangled in bed with his best friend, you had pushed Andy off you, wanting to go after him. When Andy argued it was better off for Jacob to be alone, you had blamed him for everything, for ruining the lifelong friendship with Jacob and weeks of stress caused by sleeping with him the first time. The lawyer hadn't denied the guilt or blame like you thought he would—like you wished he would—instead drowning in the insults you threw his way.
You didn't start to forgive him until Jacob came back, but then loathed him after the your best friend announced he needed some time and space to think it out, uncertain which conclusion he would come to. Thankfully, he couldn't live without you in his life, no matter how hard he tried, so he came running back, wishing for an apology when all you wanted to do was cry and wish you didn't have to spend two months without him.
Andy, like the charming bastard he is, had slowly broke down the wall of bricks made from your anger and hatred, and unwillingly, you let him in. Jacob had explained, quite awkwardly, he should be in no way a problem to yours and Andy's relationship, only to be slapped by the pregnancy news. Surprisingly, he kept it light and took it well.
Unsurprisingly to Andy, the fetus (he had been very upset when you occasionally called the baby that) had been conceived on Thanksgiving, proving the plan B useless. You had given up any pretenses at that point, and gave in to Andy's precautions no matter how ridiculous they had been; safety for the fetus.
Your parents had been content with the excuses you've made, only a little suspicious on not wanting to see them during the months of carrying the baby. The baby boy to be precise. But the lack of visiting since college was consistent enough for them to not rise suspicions.
You settled down on the couch, exhausted by the road trip despite how short it was. Newton was hardly small, but with Andy's former title, it wouldn't be long before rumors spread, and with rumors came exaggerated stories along with middle-aged women judging your life decisions because they had nothing to do all day other than sit in their lazy asses.
Andy and Jacob set the bags down by the doorway, Jacob letting out a huge sigh while his dad walked over to you, kissing your forehead. You couldn't help but smile at the gesture. He sat beside you, leaving no room to breathe.
"Hello, gorgeous."
"Ugh." Jacob groaned, turning his eyes away from the PDA. "Okay, I'm gonna go before any more of this happens. I'll see you guys for dinner."
Before you could ask, Jacob closed the door, practically sprinting to his car. Seeing his father in bed with his best friend had scarred him. You turned your attention back to Andy, head tilting in confusion. "Where's he going?"
"He's giving me some alone time with you. Had to pay him a few bucks after he complained about stealing you, but he'll manage for the next couple of hours." Andy explained, his hands absentmindedly stroking your belly, his smile beaming.
"What's happening in the next couple of hours that he can't be here for?" you asked, curious. The blast of hormones had been a gift Andy knew he didn't deserve, with you crawling over his body in the earlier months of the pregnancy, waking him up with lips wrapped around his cock. With his precautions for the baby, he'd been a tease for the past few weeks with the due date just barely two months away.
He rolled his eyes, shaking his head in amusement. "It's not that, sweetheart." Andy chuckled at your pout, disappointed by the outcome. "I just wanted to spend some time with you."
You knew there was something more, but you let it go, one thing at the front of your mind. Your fingers clawed at his shirt, biting your lip. "Then let's spend some time together." Leaning closer, you softly nipped at his earlobe, whispering in his ear. "Daddy."
Andy murmured your name, stern and sure but the bulge in his pants deemed a different story. That was enough for you to stop seducing him. "You're going to be the death of me."
Laughing, you turned the tv on, cuddling next to the soft man. Well, as close to cuddling as you could with the belly in the way. Your feet had been sore despite the not having to walk much all day, but the road trip had taken a lot of your already drained energy. Andy understood, gently taking off your shoes and massaging your feet until they no longer felt sore.
Two hours were wasted watching true crimes documentaries, Andy passionately commenting on the evidence they clearly had missed, and voicing his opinions of who was clearly guilty. You muffled a giggle, amused by the former lawyer. It still surprised you to see Andy so ... light? The forehead creases only coming together when something had displeased you, no matter how tiny. Retiring must've done something to relieve the stress he carried.
It wasn't until the third Buzzfeed Unsolved episode came on that you got tired. Andy, sending the change, muted the screen, pressing a soft kiss on your close eyelids. He positioned you so you were leaning against him, your back to him as you laid on the couch, a hand over your growing stomach. Anxiety seeped through his veins.
Andy cleared his throat. Playing with your hair, he said, "Marry me."
Your eyes snapped open, growing wide as you pondered if you had heard him right. "What?"
He shrugged. "Marry me."
Andy had said if so casually, it wasn't a question, but a statement. Or more accurately, a demand. You turned around, putting space between you two. Your eyes were hurting from the lack of blinking. "What?"
He reached in his pocket, the small, velvet box that had rested uncomfortably in his pocket took your breath away. Andy opened the box, revealing a diamond, far too beautiful to look at. His smile widened, taking in your shocked expression. "Please marry me."
A minute of silence passed.
"You're fucking insane." you whispered, staring intently at his blue eyes who were sparkling in excitement. He knew the outcome.
Andy's smile hadn't wavered. "Is that a yes?"
"No!" you shouted, getting up from the cough. He stood up, his arms ready to catch your unbalanced body. You glared at him. "I'm not going to marry you because I'm pregnant! No! No, no, no. I forbid you to ask me that question until this baby is out of me."
He laughed, wrapping an arm around your waist. "So, when I ask in two months ... ?"
"You'll just have to see." you murmured. A smug smirk fell on his face, but this one was warmer, more heartfelt.
"You'll say yes."
You shrugged, but couldn't help the smile appearing. "Probably."

Has he?
☼ Newly added epilogue: Moonlight
☼ a/n: This is told both in the present and past, the flashbacks are in italics! The flashbacks also aren’t in order, but I believe they’re pretty easy to follow when they would fall chronologically.
Inspired by the 2000s emo playlist I listened to as work (especially Jamie All Over by Mayday Parade) Sorry if the tags seem a little scary, I’d rather overtag than have someone get blindsided while reading. But I hope you enjoy! Let me know what you think! My ask box is always open ~ 💙💙💙💙
The cool breeze washes over you, bathing you in the salty ocean air. It seems you found the perfect time to come out here. The light jacket you wore more than enough to keep you warm on such an unexpected trip. The sky is slowly being painted in pinks and purples and oranges as the sun slowly starts to sink into the horizon, small wisps of fluffy, white clouds occasionally obscuring the sunlight. You’ve always loved seeing the sunset out here. The colors reflecting off the ocean and leaving everchanging patterns before you. You’ve based plenty of designs on sunsets.
The dress you wore to your first fashion week is still your favorite. The penultimate meeting of sunset and night sky. The outside was ombre layers of soft chiffon, shades of oranges and pinks and small bands of light purples. It pooled around your feet, you liked to think it made it seem like you had risen from the waters of a sunset reflection. The halter bodice wrapped around your neck in a shimmery, golden band. Hanging from the choker were thin golden chains, draped and connected to a golden belt at your waist.
For all appearances, it appeared like just a sunset colored dress. But when you walked, or pulled the fabric apart at the slit in the front, it revealed a glittering deep purple fabric, speckled like a swirling galaxy. It had been the ultimate combination of the theme of yours and Hoseok’s collection, sun and moon. The dress still hangs in your closet, one of the few extravagant pieces you’ve held on too. You want to wear it again, you just have to find an occasion to do so. The dress deserves it.
The scene before you specifically was what inspired it. Maybe not this spot specifically. There were a lot of memories tied to this spot that you tried not to think about typically. But you’ve always loved visiting the beach. Or lakes. Anywhere you could go and watch the sun sink into the water. Watch an uninterrupted sky blend colorfully with the water.
You can’t believe you’re back here though. It’s been easily more than 10 years since the last time you were at this beach, which is a drastic change from back then from when you came here all the time. Taking a seat on the bench beside you, you smile, a little sadly, as your fingers trace over the heart carved into the wood, weathered from years in the elements and use. But the letters are still clear enough and you skip over your initials, letting your fingertips trace the ‘ksj’ as you think on when they were put there.
The smile on his face is bright, as bright as the glint of sunlight off the small pocket knife in his hand.
Your combined giggles fill the fresh spring air, the beach fairly deserted since you skipped your last two periods of school to come here. You hadn’t put up much of a fight when he made the suggestion during lunch. Your grades are good enough and it’s the last weeks of high school, you can miss a few class periods to have some fun, to spend some time together before university. Just in case you don’t get into the same one.
The scratch of the blade against the wood is softer than you expect, a gentle scratch, scratch, scratch as he meticulously and carefully carves your names into the wood. His tongue pokes out from between his lips and you fight the urge to coo at how cute he is. Doubling down on keeping quiet when you know doing so would also result in him being overly macho to prove he wasn’t cute. Not because he doesn’t believe he’s cute or anything, but he knows how much the faux display makes you laugh. You don’t want to interrupt his work when this seems so important to him.
Finally he looks up from his work, proudly gesturing to the carving on the bench.
“That’s so cheesy.”
With an exaggerated pout, he gives you the saddest eyes he can muster. “I worked so hard on this for you. As a testament to our love!”
You lean forward, pressing a kiss to his jutted lower lip. “Well, I didn’t know it was so serious. My apologies.”
A few more kisses and he’d promptly forgiven you and the two of you had spent the rest of the afternoon at the beach, taking blurry pictures on your flip phones. You’re positive that a printed version of one of those photos still lives in a box somewhere, where you didn’t have the heart to throw it away and so it’s stayed in a box of memories that moves with you but you never really look through.
You’re so tired when you finally get home. It doesn’t even feel like home anymore. You’ve spent more time either in the studio or with Jimin or Hoseok or at work than you have here. And you know from the times that you are here that Seokjin is gone just as often as you. It doesn’t even feel like you’re in a relationship anymore. It hurts to think about that.
So you’d thought summer would be the perfect time for the two of you to rekindle your relationship. Fix whatever problems you were having, free from the stress of finals. But with senior year quickly approaching, everything seems to have just gotten worse. You can never seem to catch Seokjin to start the process of fixing anything.
To your surprise, when you open the door you find Seokjin sitting on the bed, face pinched as he stares at something on his phone. Maybe this will finally be the opportunity to talk and start fixing things. You miss him, body cold and numb the nights you fall asleep here alone, always waiting and waking up disappointed.
Before you can say anything, his head lifts and the cold glare he sends you stops you in your tracks. What could possibly have happened to make him give you that look? You know the two of you have been having some problems, but nothing that would warrant that look.
“Where the hell were you?” His tone is as icy as his eyes.
You frown, gesturing vaguely towards the fridge. “Work. I put my schedule up so you knew.” He didn’t have the same courtesy. You never knew when he was working. Or what else he was doing when he was out. You had put yours up in hopes that he would do the same and maybe you would be able to find time to be together. Though you’re not sure he even bothered to go near the fridge. The few times you’ve made dinner for him and left the leftovers in the fridge with a note went untouched.
He sneers and holds his phone out towards you. You have to step closer to get a good look at the image he has pulled up. It’s from just a few hours ago. You and Jimin sat at one of the cafe tables and laughing. It had been your break and Jimin came in to keep you company. Had Seokjin come by the cafe? Why hadn’t he come in? If he’d been there when this was taken, you were on break, you could’ve spent it together.
“Then what’s this? Certainly doesn’t look like work to me.”
Your mind blanks. Is he seriously accusing you of lying right now? Indignation rises, acid burning in your throat. “What are you saying? If you were there why didn’t you come in? I would have loved to see you.”
“I wasn’t there. A friend sent this. And I’m saying that you’re never around. And I keep getting people telling me they see you out with him all the time. I haven’t seen you in weeks. But it seems like he sees you every day.”
He can’t seriously be accusing you of cheating right now. This seriously can’t be happening right now. You don’t know whether to laugh or cry at the accusation. It hurts that he’d honestly think you’d do that. Then the ugly thoughts come. What’s that saying, those who are most guilty are the quickest to throw blame at others?
“First of all,” you grit out, trying your best to keep your tone even. You can feel the rage churning in your belly. “I was on break when that was taken. Jimin came to visit because he knew someone wasn’t going to.” Seokjin’s mouth opens to speak but you continue, voice raising. He is not going to get to cut you off now. “It’s awfully fucking rich for you to accuse me when you have no evidence. You’re never even around. You know what they say, it’s never the one being blamed but the one doing the blaming.”
He scoffs and stands. In his anger, he seems to tower over you. But you’re too angry and indignant yourself for it to feel intimidating. You stare him down.
“You’re really going to accuse me now?”
“It’s the same thing you’re doing! I was hoping to fucking talk when I saw you were home. I was so happy to see you here. We haven’t been home together in so long. I-”
“We haven’t been home together because you’re always out with Jimin.”
“No I haven’t been fucking home because you’re never home and it fucking hurts to be in this shitty apartment without the person who’s supposed to be here with me. Do you know how fucking lonely it is waiting around here for a person who never shows up?”
Turning away from you, he takes a few deep breaths.
You deflate slightly. You could still fix this. “Seokjin-”
He shakes his head. “No, I don’t want to hear any more excuses.”
He moves towards the door and you panic. This isn’t how tonight was supposed to go. You wanted to fix things. To make them better. Everything has spiraled and you can’t let him slip through your fingers. You reach for his wrist.
“Seokjin, wait-”
He wretches his hand free and glances at you over his shoulder with so much contempt that you feel your heart in your throat. “No. I’m done.”
This can’t be it. This really can’t be it. He sees you about to speak again and turns and leaves before you can get a word out and it feels like the rug has been ripped out from beneath you. The silence deafening in his absence.
You don’t know how long you stand there for. You feel completely numb. Like this is just a bad dream and you’ll wake up soon and Seokjin will be next to you and you’ll tell him about this and he’ll laugh and comfort you and tell you that would never happen. You expect tears, but they never come. Everything feels so surreal.
The man you had planned to spend the rest of your life with just walked out on you after accusing you of cheating. 5 years and he really thought that was something you would do. Do you wait around? Hope he comes back for you both to talk with calmer minds.
You settle for a text.
You: Can we talk once we’ve both calmed down?
It’s less than a second later and the response makes your heart sink. Blocked.
He really blocked you already. He’s not even going to try? You sink onto the bed. What are you supposed to do now?
At some point, mechanically, you text Jimin, asking if he could come over and bring some boxes. Looking around, you’re at least grateful that your place was small because it means you don’t have that much to try to move. Jimin arrives, faster than you expected. Or maybe you’ve just become that disconnected from the passage of time.
He drops the boxes and comes up to you, hands fretting over you like there’s some physical injury he can attend to. Unless he knows how to mend a broken heart, his fretting is useless. Instead you move on autopilot, taking the boxes Jimin brought and packing your meager possessions into them. Jimin stands by the kitchen, looking sad and lost, unable to help because you have yet to say a word. He knows what happened though. It’s not hard to figure out. You’re thankful that he doesn’t try to get you to talk. Just lets you move and do what you need. Waits for you to ask should you need help.
You’re almost finished packing when you pull the shoebox from under the bed and you suddenly feel like you’ve been hit by a truck. Flipping the lid open reveals hundreds of photos. Of friends. Of family. Of trips. Of Seokjin. The top pictures pull your attention. Two copies of the same photo. A blurry snapshot of you two grinning on the beach. You both look so young and happy. You wish you could go back to that. Everything was so simple back then.
He must have put his copy in with yours. Because why would they need to be kept in different places when the two of you would never be apart. You almost want to laugh. You mostly want to cry. You stand with the box, debate for all of two seconds before you set his copy down on the bed. He can decide what to do with his own copy. That’s not for you to decide. Not anymore.
Tucking the shoebox into the last of the moving boxes, you cast one last look around the apartment. The holes where your things were hurt to see. The physical evidence that this part of your life is over. Carefully extracted from a life that had been so delicately intertwined. You wonder if the gaps will even bother Seokjin. If he’ll even bother staying here, if he’ll move onto something bigger and better. Without you. Swallowing, you turn to Jimin before those thoughts can spiral. Not here. Not yet. Once you’re somewhere else and alone. Then it can all come out.
“Ready?”
You give a small nod and Jimin helps take your things downstairs. He does most of the work while you wait on the sidewalk. He calls a taxi, loads your things into, gives the driver his address.
As it pulls away from the curb, you can’t help but to watch the apartment shrink into the distance. Feeling like you left your heart behind. You wonder if you’ll ever get it back.
Your phone dings with a notification, dragging you out of the sad memories. You give yourself a small shake. You hadn’t thought about that day in years, pushing it to the back of your mind. You had learned later on that some girls had told Seokjin lies about you to get the two of you to break up in a bid for his attention. It had backfired spectacularly because you found out through Hoseok after he overheard Seokjin yelling at the girl who asked him out less than a week after the break up. He never came to talk to you after the truth came out though. You never let yourself think too hard about why that might be. You’d already spent too many nights feeling numb and broken. You poured yourself into your work. Your friends. You had been content for your senior year. It didn’t go how you were expecting, but it was still good.
You smile at the device in your hand. It’s far more advanced than your old flip phones had been, even your college phone had been fairly low tech, the downsides of living on a budget. High school you would have killed for a camera this good back then. That blurry picture of you and Seokjin would’ve been much more clear if you’d had something like this back then. You swipe the notification away, just an email from your assistant about your schedule for tomorrow and what had been shifted around from today. But all that can wait until later, probably when you’re back home. The notification draws your attention to a text from Hoseok that you hadn’t seen though. He must have messaged while you were walking so you didn’t feel your phone go off.
Hobihobi: Are you ok?
You smile at his concern. And honestly the fact that he even noticed you dipped out of the studio early. You had thought that he had been too busy on his own upcoming project to notice. It’s a pretty big deal for your label and he’s been working so hard to get this project. You’re just glad you have the perk of being boss to be able to dip when you need to. Although technically, you and Hoseok own your label, Daydream Designs, together.
Texting him a quick reassurance, you pocket the device again, content to just enjoy the sunset out here alone. There’s a few people scattered around the beach. A few families beginning to pack up for the evening, a person running with their dog, a couple walking along the shoreline.
You have such fond memories of this beach. For all the bad memories you have of the relationship, mostly from the end of it, at least the beach remains untainted.
Nervously clutching the letter in your hand, your leg bounces as you wait for Seokjin to arrive. He’d texted you earlier that he’d gotten a letter from SNU. You’d rushed home to see you had a letter waiting as well. You were thankful that they had come on the same day. You can’t imagine how much more anxiety you’d have if you’d had to wait longer for one of your letters to arrive.
You glance at the white envelope, the edges are beginning to wrinkle from your grip, but you can’t get your fingers to relax. Checking your phone again, you wonder where Seokjin is. He should be here soon. The beach is crowded today. The weather finally nice enough and the water clear and warm. It was a miracle that you’d managed to get your bench when you’d arrived. But someone had just been leaving when you’d gotten here and you’d quickly jogged over to take it before someone else could snatch it. It seemed like the perfect place to see what your future held.
Seokjin appears suddenly, panting like he ran the whole way here. Which, given the sweat making his bangs stick to his forehead, is a good possibility. He still looks handsome, more so when he sends you a brilliant grin.
“You got our bench!”
Returning his smile, you send him a wink. “I had to fight an old lady for it.”
He presses a quick kiss to your lips as he sits down, brandishing his letter. “How do you want to do this?”
Chewing your lip, you think it over. “I don’t think I can open it.”
His eyes soften and he takes your hand. He can read you so well. “No matter what happens, we’ll always have each other.” He gives your hand a squeeze. “How about we open each other’s?”
Reluctantly, you nod. Would it really be better to see that he got in while still not knowing if you got in too? Swapping letters, you stare down at his name spelled out in ink. You know he got in. There’s no way he didn’t. Seokjin nudges you and you look up.
“Count of three?” You nod. “Okay… 3…”
“2…”
“1…”
Seokjin is a little faster in tearing open the envelope than you are but you keep your gaze firmly downcast, watching as your fingers tear open the paper with meticulous care. You skim his letter quickly.
Congratulations.
He got in. Joy swells in you and you look up with a grin, momentarily forgetting your own letter. Your smile quickly falters though when you see the flat look on Seokjin’s face as he stares down at your letter and your heart sinks.
Tugging his hand to get his attention, you give him a sad smile. “Hey, it’s okay. You said-”
“You got in.”
You blink. His words swirling around your head but not fully registering. “What?”
He envelops you in a massive hug, laughing with joy. “You got in! Baby, you did it!”
You still feel a little dumbfounded, but you’re quickly filling with excitement. “You too! Jinnie, you got in too!”
He pulls back and presses a long kiss to your lips. His eyes look suspiciously wet, but you decide not to comment. You’re positive that your’s are probably a little wet too. “The next four years are going to be amazing.”
He had been so optimistic back then. You could use some of that optimism now.
You hadn’t originally planned on cutting out of work early, especially not to come here of all places. There were some designs that you needed to work on, a few ideas that you had that you wanted to get sketched up to show to Hoseok. But when you’d been walking through the common area during lunch, you’d overheard a couple of people gathered around a computer gushing about the Kim Seokjin wearing one of Hoseok’s designs.
It’s definitely not the first time. Hoseok knew Seokjin in university when you knew him too, although you were always closer to him since you shared a lot of classes, and obviously a shared love of fashion. But the two were friendly and remained so afterward, but on a more acquaintanceship basis. The break up clearly divided some friendships, though you hated that it happened. You didn’t want anyone to feel like they had to stop being friends with either of you just because you two were no longer dating.
You know it’s not the first time Hoseok has designed something for Seokjin. And normally, him wearing one of Hoseok’s designs wouldn’t bother you too much. Both because it’s good for Hoseok because Hoseok is a genius and deserves it, but because it’s also really good for your label in general in terms of good press. Though you know Hoseok sometimes slips your designs into things that get sent to him. You saw one of your jackets ended up at an award show.
Idle chatter about Seokjin around the office isn’t that new. You suppose that’s one of the downsides to being in an industry that is very closely tied to idols and actors and actresses. It’s not an uncommon occurrence to hear them gossip about him, he’s one of the most popular drama actors currently and everyone loves to gush about how handsome and funny he is. They find it odd that you’ll talk about anyone with them except him. They leave it be much easier now, but in the beginning they still tried to include you.
You’ve even dealt easily with the dating rumors. All the pretty actresses he’s supposedly dating. And why wouldn’t he? He’s gorgeous and talented and so, so kind. Any woman would be lucky to have him. You’ve been on the receiving end of his love. You know how easy it is to fall.
If your coworkers knew that you’d dated him in the past, they would think you were crazy to let him go. And maybe be a little jealous and probably pepper you with questions about him. You definitely are thankful they don’t know because the way some of them gossip about their own sex lives, they’d beg for details about a celebrity’s from first hand experience.
Excitement fills you as you sit in the airport. It’s finally summer. Your first year of college is behind you and you now get to spend two whole weeks with Seokjin in Jeju. Well Seokjin and his family. But they were kind enough to let the two of you have your own little place on the island. Well it was more of just the guest house to the main house they, along with Seokjin’s brother, would be staying at.
This will likely be the only big summer trip you both take during college. Seokjin had originally planned to not go. More content to work all summer and save up money so the two of you could get an apartment off campus. His parents had offered to pay for a place, but Seokjin was adamant that the two of you wanted to do this for yourselves.
You’d try to hide your disappointment about not going, but he knows you far too well and caved quickly to saying one trip wouldn’t hurt his independence. So now here you were, ready to fly out to Jeju. You haven’t been since you were little and you were excited that you got to go back and this time with Seokjin.
The flight is quick and uneventful and Seokjin gets a taxi to take you to the beach house, his parents having arrived a few days prior.
The main house is beautiful, but you’re more excited to see where you’ll be staying. The outside of the guest house looks like a miniature version of the main one. Inside, it’s spacious, all one room with an attached bathroom. The bed is separated from the living area by an ornate partition painted with a starry nightscape. The moon is painted in such gorgeous detail that you’re tempted to tell Seokjin you want to steal the partition when you leave.
The living area is simple, a plush sofa and matching chair set facing a wall mounted TV. A small, well-stocked minibar is pressed against one wall. Around the partition and into the sleeping area is a large bed facing a set of french doors that open out onto a small deck that leads right down to the beach in two steps.
Flopping onto the bed with a giddy giggle, you watch as Seokjin sets his bag down and gives you a fond smile.
“Enjoying yourself?” he asks with a raised eyebrow.
You squirm back slightly, coy smile stretching your lips. “I don’t know. The bed seems kind of empty.”
He chuckles, sitting on the bed and tugging you into his lap. “Better?”
Humming, you press a kiss to his lips. “Much.”
When you go to pull away, he follows, capturing your lips in another, deeper kiss. “We don’t… have… a lot of time…” he murmurs between kisses.
You give a vague affirmative, only half listening to his words in favor of pressing him back into the mattress. His parents can wait, you have some important business first.
The night air is cool, the french doors left open, gauzy curtains shifting in the gentle breeze. Shifting onto his side, Seokjin presses a gentle kiss to your shoulder, soft and unhurried. It’s only been a couple of days since you’ve been here. But it’s been utter bliss, especially after the exhaustion from finals.
You nudge the sheet lower down your bodies and press closer to him. Tonight seems like the perfect time for something soft and unhurried. A perfect time to really connect again. No hurrying because of classes, or roommates, or meetings. No papers to worry about.
Just you and Seokjin. In a plush bed with a cool, ocean breeze enveloping you. If you peek through the curtains, you can just make out the shape of the moon, the illumination making Seokjin glow before you.
He’s already bared to you. Both of you showering off the ocean water from an evening dip and simply crawling into bed together afterwards. The TV is off, the only sounds filling the room is the rustle of the sheets as you move and the lapping of the waves on the shore. You dare not speak and break the peaceful atmosphere and Seokjin seems to be on the same wavelength.
Neither of you need to speak to know how to move around each other here. He cups your face, such a gentle caress, like you’re the most fragile and beautiful thing he’s ever held. It makes you feel cherished. He leans closer and time seems to slow down with the press of his plush lips to yours. He takes his time kissing you, so slowly like you have the rest of eternity for just this moment.
Pushing you onto your back, Seokjin cages you in, enveloping you in the safe blanket of his embrace. His scent is overwhelming like this, you could drown in it. His hips press into yours, cock not fully hard yet, but that doesn’t matter. This is about taking your time with each other. You wrap your arms around his shoulders, hands sliding from his neck up into his hair.
The strands are a little dried out, a combination of the salty ocean water and the fresh bleaching it got. His parents hated it at first, but he defended it as just college experimentation. It’s supposed to be a time of discovery and why not try different hair colors. He’s unfairly attractive with the bleach blonde, just as handsome as his natural brunette. You know he plans to dye it another color. But he’s yet to tell you what it’ll be.
You give his hair a light tug, relishing the sigh he releases against your lips.
“Tell me what you want.”
“Just you.”
“You always have me.”
Seokjin nudges your thighs apart as he kisses across your jaw and down your neck. Trailing across your collarbones, he leaves a line nips down to your sternum. His hands slide up your sides till they meet your breasts, fingers cupping the soft flesh as he peppers kisses across the expanse of your chest. He traces one nipple with his tongue, teasing the bud to stiffness with each swipe. He moves on to the other one, changing it up and using his teeth this time. The air fills with your soft moans, blending with the waves outside.
Moving lower, Seokjin kisses your belly, taking his time to touch every little mark across your skin. Pleasure simmers in your belly, every nerve burns like a live wire. Over all that, you feel loved. Absolutely worshiped as Seokjin presses a kiss to your mound with such reverence that you think he might convert right here and now.
Seokjin eats you out just as slowly and thoroughly as he kissed you. He savors you with each swipe of his tongue, every suck, every twist of his fingers. Seokjin plays your pleasure like a fine-tuned instrument, drawing you ever so slowly to the edge. Your fingers thread through his hair once more, not to be demanding, but for the sake of feeling grounded. His tongue laps at you like you’re a ten course meal and he wants to savor every single morsel. When you chance a glance down at him, his eyes are closed, handsome face, what you can see of it at least, smoothed out in utter bliss.
When you finally cum, it feels like sinking into pure euphoria. Seokjin drags it out for so long and so gently that you cum a second time. Though you’re so lost in sensation that maybe it’s still the first orgasm.
Pushing himself to his knees, his face glistens with your slick and you feel bereft with the distance suddenly between you. You reach out for him and he falls right into you, lips crashing against yours as his cock presses against your pussy. But you need more than that and you squirm, drawing a chuckle from deep in his chest.
“Impatient…” he murmurs.
But despite his teasing, he shifts until the tip of his cock catches your hole and he slides in with languid push. You sigh his name and he answers with a nod, lips brushing your neck as he pulls back and starts a slow, almost lazy, rhythm. You cling to him, nearly delirious with pleasure.
Nudging Seokjin, you pull him in for a kiss of your own. “I love you.”
He groans into your mouth. “Fuck… I love you too. So much.”
You lose track of time, your pace unhurried. Seokjin cums at some point and the two of you lay facing each other and exchanging soft kisses until you drift off to sleep.
You whine as Seokjin slips his cock into you. He’s been teasing you all day on the beach. At one point while you were in the water with him, his fingers slipped beneath your suit to tease along your pussy. You’d nearly screamed at the sudden sensation, but Seokjin had merely laughed and floated out of your reach, sending you a wink as he licked his finger. The second you returned to your room from dinner he was on you. This is so different from the other night. Somewhere in between the rushed couplings in the dorms and the slow, soft sex from then. It feels just as good, a little rough, fun, light. Perfect.
Seokjin grins cockily above you. “I barely did anything and you’re so wet for me, baby.”
Huffing, you try to kick at him, but he easily pins your leg down. He tuts and delivers a thrust that jostles you up the bed and draws a gasp from you. He looks entirely too pleased with himself.
Before you can formulate any other sort of retaliation, the sound of voices catches your attention. Glancing to the side shows that neither of you shut the french doors. The voices don’t sound close, but they are near enough for you to hear. It’s not too strange, the beach is there for anyone. But it’s the first night that anyone has been out there, at least close enough for you to be able to hear from your bed. Music soon follows the voices. A party.
Unbidden, the thought of someone breaking away from the party, coming down the beach this way and passing by the open doors has you clenching around Seokjin. He gasps at the sudden tightness, blinking down at where you’re connected. Licking his lips, he follows your gaze and a moment later, you see realization cross his features.
His resulting grin is downright dangerous. “What’s got you going, baby? Hm?”
Swallowing, you turn back to him, blocking out the voices. You will not give him the satisfaction. “Nothing.”
Fingers digging into your hips, Seokjin glances towards the doors again. He gives a harsh thrust that pulls a startle moan from you. “Nothing, huh? I don’t think that’s true.” He turns back to you and there’s a dark look in his eyes. “I think that you want someone to walk by and see us. That the idea of being caught is exciting.”
You scoff, deliberately turning your face away from the doors. “I’m actually bored and thinking about what we’re doing tomorrow.”
Seokjin blinks at you for a moment before chuckling darkly. “Is that right?” You nod. “Oh, we’ll see about that.”
It sounds like a threat and a challenge. And you’re never one to back down from a challenge. “Well in the morning, we’re meeting your parents for brunch…”
Seokjin’s tongue presses against his cheek as he slams his cock into you. It would force you up the bed if not for his bruising grip on your hips keeping you firmly pinned in place, forced to take the full brunt of his cock spliting you open.
But you’re just as stubborn as him. “Then we’re going… to the spa… oh my g-god… you… you made… p-plans for lunch…”
Every few words you stutter out are punctuated by another harsh thrust. Your legs are pushed towards your chest and his next thrust has his cock rubbing along your g-spot and for a second, your mind blanks on what’s happening, pleasure so sudden and searing that you forget everything but the full feel of Seokjin’s cock inside you. He starts to grin then, victoriously, and that pulls you out of it just enough to continue, gritting your teeth as he continues to fuck you.
“Said you had… a surprise… then we were going to… oh, fuck… gonna go to t-town… buy some… gifts… Seokjin, please…”
He grins. “Gonna admit what you were thinking about?”
One hand leaves your legs, thumb brushing your clit and your resolve crumbles with your rising desire to cum.
“Fuck… yes! I want someone to walk by. See you fucking me, making me cum, making me feel good… Seokjin, please…” you whine out.
“Well, why didn’t you just say so?”
His rough thrusts pick up again. This time accompanied by the rhythmic movements on his fingers on your clit. Your orgasm builds quickly and leaves you breathless as Seokjin forces you over the edge. You cry out, heedless of the volume of your voice. If anything, the thought of someone hearing how Seokjin makes you feel makes you shudder with pleasure.
Seokjin groans, hands dropping to the bed as he chases his own orgasm, smothering his moan of your name against your shoulder.
When he’s caught his breath, he raises his head, a mischievous twinkle in his eye. “So… exhibitionism, huh?”
The stories you had are probably worth a lot. Which is why you keep them to yourself. No one but you and Seokjin need to know those details. Especially not some of the more nosy people you work with. Hoseok thankfully played along with only knowing him on a professional level and not that you all went to university together.
It’s typically pretty easy to just ignore the chatter when it comes up about him. But a couple days ago, you had a dream about him. One that after you woke up, you couldn’t recall almost anything about it. Except his face and the heavy feeling in your heart. His smile was burned into your mind and has left you feeling off since then. The mention of him today combined with the weird feeling brought back a whole slew of memories and things you had thought you’d long since moved past. To the point that you made the decision to leave work to work early because you were so confused. Why you were suddenly feeling like this about someone who you thought you’ve been over for more than 10 years.
You never thought you’d be here back in university. Together with Seokjin. You both had thought you’d be together forever, whispered together about getting married, about the future. The things you’d do and the places you’d go to.
The arm around your bare waist tightens, a firm chest pressing into your back.
“What’re you thinking about, baby?” Seokjin murmurs into the skin of your shoulder.
You chew your lip nervously before shifting in his grip so that you’re now facing each other. You’ve been thinking about a lot of things as freshman year draws to a close. All of them lead back to Seokjin.
The afternoon sunlight peeks in through the curtains, casting golden light across him and the dormroom. It’s an odd time to be in bed together, but it’s one of the only moments that you both have free and there’s no dormmates around to bother or have to kick out. Though you know Yoongi, Seokjin’s roommate and faux reluctant friend, would give you both the space if you asked. You don’t want to be the person that kicks him out constantly, so for now, you both are content to steal some free moments during the day when Yoongi has classes. Maybe next year you can think about getting a little place off campus together. A place both for you guys and maybe for your friends to visit and hang out at.
You think Seokjin looks the most beautiful under the afternoon light regardless. Seokjin pecks your nose, drawing your attention back to him and his question that remains unanswered. You feel a little nervous bringing up what you were thinking about. But the two of you have been together for almost 3 years. You should be able to bring it up to him.
Swallowing your slight nerves, you finally speak. “Was just… thinking about the future…”
His answering smile is warm and gentle and you feel like the world could crumble around you and you would be safe here in his arms. “I hope I’m there.”
Giggling, you press a kiss to his lips. “Of course. I can’t imagine a future without such a handsome man on my arm while I attend extravagant parties and get all the jealous stares to be dating someone so much younger than me.”
Gasping with as much drama as you expect from him, Seokjin falls onto his back, hands clutched over his chest. “I can’t believe this! The truth has finally come out! You’re only with me for my youthful looks!”
Fond smile growing, you settle your hand over his as he continues a dramatic monologue about the ultimate betrayal. You wish he would listen to you about changing his major. You know he’d love being an acting major much more than he currently is in his business major classes. A major he’s in only to appease his family.
Finally tired of his dramatics, you lean up and press a kiss to his lips, effectively silencing him. “I love you,” you murmur against his lips.
You wonder when he changed his degree. Or if he ever did. You know plenty of people who go into acting without the degree and Seokjin certainly had the inherent talent to do it. It would be easy to verify if you just looked him up. Someone who’s so in the spotlight now would certainly have his degree information online. But you don’t want to do that. You wonder how invasive that must be. Although you and Hoseok are beginning to get that popular too, you wonder if those sorts of things will begin to happen to you. You can’t imagine you’d be very interesting to follow around.
Truthfully, you don’t know what would be worse in regards to the fate of Seokjin’s degree. If he had done what you had told him all along and changed his major after you two broke up, or if he had decided to follow his dreams even if he didn’t have the degree for it. It’s undeniable that it hurts either way. The first time you’d seen him in a trailer had sent you spiraling in a way that you hadn’t since the breakup.
There’s a pounding at the door, but you can’t find it in yourself to get off the couch. The TV is still on the channel it had been on last night and you’re still sat in the same place as then. Honestly, you only know that it’s at least morning because there’s light streaming in through the windows and when you had seen the trailer it had definitely been evening.
You had been watching some show, whatever you landed on first that seemed at least mildly entertaining, while eating dinner. A quick break from the sketches that are scattered across your coffee table. Sketches that could lead to your first big contract.
But your peaceful and exciting night of work had been interrupted when you’d seen a preview for a new drama. A new drama with Kim Seokjin. It had been crushing to see. You had been telling him to do that for so long. To the point that it became one of the contributing factors in your seemingly inevitable breakup.
It seems then that the problem was never with whether or not he would follow his dreams after graduation. It was just if you would be there with him. You cried when you saw it, a vice of bitterness around your heart that while you don’t get to celebrate with him, you’re so happy that he’s doing what he loves. You’re fairly certain you stopped sometime around midnight, though the night was a little hazy as your thoughts circled around one thing. How he hadn’t wanted you there with him.
The banging at your door stops at some point, though you don’t know how long they kept it up for. And then your door is suddenly being shoved open, banging against the wall and there’s two sets of footsteps moving quickly into the apartment. You hear a muffled ‘fuck’ and then you’re being enveloped in a hug.
It takes only a moment for you to realize who it is, the orange-y scent of Jimin’s favorite cologne washing over you. Your breath stutters then, it hurts to breathe so you bury your face in his chest and his arms tighten around you. He murmurs comforting words and someone else sits behind you, hand gently rubbing your back.
Eventually, you calm down and you pull away to give Jimin a weak smile, one that you direct to Hoseok as well when you see him behind you. Jimin returns with a pained smile of his own.
“You saw, huh?” You nod and Jimin sighs. “I had hoped that you wouldn’t see it last night. It’s what I was planning to tell you at dinner tonight. So you could be prepared for it. I’m so sorry I waited to tell you.”
You shake your head quickly. “No, you have nothing to apologize for.” You rub your neck. “I… I didn’t think I would react quite like this… It’s been 3 years. You worked so hard to help me out of that dark place-”
Jimin puts a hand over your mouth, cutting you off. “No, you worked hard to get yourself out of that dark place. I was just there to hold your hand. It was a tough breakup. It’s understandable if there’s occasionally things that bring that heartache back up.”
You nod slowly, not fully believing his assertion that he just held your hand post break up. You probably would’ve dropped out of university after the breakup if you hadn’t met Jimin. You look between him and Jimin. “H-how did you know to come?”
Hoseok gives a sheepish grin. “You didn’t show up to work and I got worried. I texted Jimin on my way here and he seemed to know exactly what had happened.”
“Now that we’re here. How about I go get all of us some junk food and you two find something trashy for us to binge?”
After that, it got much easier to see him on your screen. Or on screens in the train stations. Or plastered on ads and billboards.
It helped you actually, to finally, truly move on from him. A sort of immersion therapy to numb you to his face. You didn’t need him to be happy. You loved your budding design business with Hoseok, clubbing with Jimin, dating both casually and more seriously. It all got easier with time and you’re grateful for the friends that you have. Your friends have always been there for you, even back then.
Your first birthday after the breakup was rough. Seokjin always planned something elaborate and thoughtful. There would be none of that this year. You went to work in the morning, gave your coworkers a fake smile as they wished you a happy birthday with a cupcake in the breakroom before you opened the cafe. It was sweet of them to do, but the breakup was still far too recent for you to truly enjoy anything like this.
Jimin had night classes so you would have the evening alone. You at least had your own room now instead of sleeping on Jimin’s couch in his old apartment. You had protested his plan to move to a two bedroom apartment for you both to share so you could have your own space. You knew on your meager wages you’d never be able to help with rent at such a large place. You and Seokjin had barely been able to afford your studio together.
But Jimin insisted. He had more than enough to cover rent and you could just save your money. Or buy groceries and cook. He hated cooking, could do it just fine but was too impatient for it. It seemed like incredibly inadequate compensation for him giving you a place to live, but he just smiled and said that’s what friends do for each other. You had cried and he teased you afterward and then made you buy him ice cream. But you agreed to moving and letting him help.
And it was nice to have your own room. It was great to live with Jimin. He was the sweetest and seemed to always know exactly what you needed. Hoseok visited often too, though you don’t know if he was coming to see you or Jimin more some days, and the three of you worked hard to get through your last year of university. Together.
But with Jimin in classes tonight, the apartment would be empty. You didn’t really feel like cooking either. So you’d probably just have some ramen. If you could even be bothered to eat to begin with. You freeze when you get to your floor, brows knit in confusion when you see a beautiful bouquet of red and yellow lilies, interspersed with sheep sorrels. The vase is a glossy deep blue, splashes of purples and pinks and speckles of white paint of soft starry night.
You wonder who they’re for. They must have been left at the wrong door. You carefully look through the petals for a card, finding the glossy little square quickly. Tears gather in your eyes when you see the little cartoon cat head sketched into the blank area of the card. It’s a little cruder than you’re used to seeing, the ear slightly misshapen, the cheeks a little too chunky, the lines a little unsure.
But it’s unmistakably Yoongi’s cat doodle. Meaning he must have dropped these off for you, even though you and Seokjin have broken up. And you’re not even sure if he knew where your new place was. You’d have to thank him soon for them. It makes the day a little less rough to have something so pretty. To know someone was thinking of you.
You never did get the chance to thank him properly for the gift. At least directly. You’d taken him a coffee, a few days later, as thanks. He’d looked a little confused but never questioned or made you say anything out loud. Which you’re grateful for. Just because you and Seokjin split up, didn’t mean you and Yoongi couldn’t still be on friendly terms. Though you haven’t properly talked to him in quite a while. Maybe you should ask him to meet up soon. See how he’s been doing.
But even with all the progress you’ve made and all that your friends have done for you, you still have the occasional bad day. Looking back on it, it had been years since you had one that affected you enough that you had to take off work specifically in regards to Seokjin. You’re really not sure what made it seem like the beach, this beach was the best place to go. But there was just something that called you here.
For as painful as the breakup was, Seokjin was your first love. He was amazing while you were together. Always loving and supportive. Even when things started to fall apart.
With a groan, you push the apartment door open, giving a harder shove when it gets jammed. Like it always does and your landlord refuses to do a thing about it. The lights are off when you finally get the door shut and your heart sinks. Seokjin was supposed to be home. You haven’t seen him for more than a few minutes in the last week. This was going to finally be the night you spent together. Throwing your bag down, you flick the lights on, seeing the cramped studio apartment is indeed empty. You pull your phone out, seeing if maybe he just ran out for something or if he was running late, but there’s nothing.
You try not to let your disappointment consume you and instead grab your sketchbook from the shelf and decide to get some sketches done while you wait, hoping, probably vainly, that Seokjin will be back soon.
You jerk awake to the sound of the door slamming and when you blink blearily at the clock, it’s nearly midnight. You turn to watch as Seokjin kicks his shoes off, weariness written in his posture.
“Hey,” you croak and Seokjin gives no indication that he heard you. “Where were you?”
Seokjin straightens and sighs before turning to you. There’s a dead look in his eye that you’ve never seen before, let alone had directed at you. “Out.”
For all that you had been sad or worried, anger and confusion surges through you at his complete disregard. “Out? You could’ve texted. We were supposed to have a night in together.”
His jaw tightens and he drops his bag beside yours before moving towards the bathroom, the only place in this shithole with a door. “I had to study.”
And before you can say anything else, the bathroom door is slammed shut behind him. You stare at it incredulously. He can’t be serious. You’re just as stressed as he is. Finals are creeping in and along with that is planning for senior year. At the rate you’re going, summer is going to be unbearable.
You sigh, shaking the memories away. You don’t want to dwell on the bad anymore. Even if the breakup was crushing, the good times were amazing. With the sun finally below the horizon, the moon takes its place, casting cool white light across the beach. And with it, comes the peace of being alone. You let the sound of the waves lull your thoughts to silence.
But the sound of footsteps pulls your attention, confused because the beach is basically deserted at this time, the chill brought in with the moon driving most people inside. Your breath catches in your throat when you see Seokjin standing not far from you. The wind blows his hair from his face and he looks tired. A little older, but still just as handsome as he was in university.
There’s no way that this is happening. You must be dreaming. That’s right. This is just another dream. A weird continuation of the one from a couple of days ago. Seokjin isn’t really here. Not at the same time as you. Not when there’s no one around. Not when your heart feels vulnerable and you can admit that you maybe really, really miss him. Sometimes.
But the chill from the wind feels real. The wood biting into your palms where your grip has tightened on the bench feels real. He looks real and handsome and devastating. Every bit like the man who stole your heart in high school and broke it in college. Who loved to make sure his loved ones were always laughing. Who had such a flair for dramatics that it was never a surprise that he’s such a popular and talented actor.
The jacket wrapped around his shoulders is unmistakably yours. A silly, casual design that you had done but never put into a collection cause there was never one it fit. You had sewn it on a whim, the idea eating away at you until you made it, settled the itch in your fingers. There’s only one way that Seokjin could’ve gotten that.
Hoseok.
Have they been talking more than Hoseok let on?
Seokjin hasn’t noticed you yet and you’re wondering if you’d be able to slip away without having him notice you when he turns and freezes. He seems just as surprised and blindsided to see you as you are to see him. You stare at each other and it feels like an eternity and a million conversations pass between you both. He swallows and closes the short distance between you both and tentatively takes a seat beside you.
He looks nervous when he turns towards you. Clearing his throat after a moment, he sticks his hand out, tentative smile on his face. “Hi, I’m Kim Seokjin.”
You almost laugh. It’s such a him thing to do. As if you would ever forget him. Seokjin left a scar on your heart, you’d carry a little piece of him for the rest of your life.
But the introduction feels like more than a way to break the tension. There’s a question hiding in his innocuous words. Is this okay? Can I be here? Can we be in each other’s lives again?
Most importantly, it feels like a fresh start. A new chapter. You and Seokjin are different people now. You’re both successful. You’ve grown, matured, learned. You’re no longer the starry-eyed, hopeful kids in college. Full of dreams and hopes, but with so little experience.
Who knows, maybe there won’t even be romantic feelings between you anymore. Maybe you’ll just end up friends.
But maybe this new start is what you both need. The sun may have set on your relationship in the past, but maybe it was just what you both needed to let the sun rise now. Something new, and exciting, but still a little bit familiar.
You take his hand with a smile. “Hi, Kim Seokjin. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”

i could make you care
[saiki kusuo x reader]
author’s note: i tried to incorporate as many characters into this as possible to make it feel like an actual episode and i got overwhelmed so fast lol i haven’t written this many characters in a story in a long time. in any case hope i did them justice and that you enjoy :’)
word count: 3,029
Today’s morning is bright, and Saiki’s walk is quiet. Typically this would be no cause for concern. A quiet walk to school is few and far between, difficult to come by given the company he keeps. (He’d much prefer a calmer bunch, if he were granted the chance to choose, but that is neither here nor there.) Don’t misunderstand: he’d bask in this brief peace, guaranteed to be broken the moment he passes through the gates of PK Academy, if the reason for this uncharacteristic period of silence comes about because of the absence of one particular person—someone who, if one could hardly believe it, Saiki actually prefers to have around more often than not.
He walks past the street which leads to your home, his pace never slowing because he expects you’ll join him, as you do every morning. You’ll wait for him on the corner and smile widely like you haven’t seen him in weeks then skip towards him, falling in step easily. He’ll remain nonplussed as you hug his arm, give it a brief squeeze as you greet him—Good morning, Kusuo!—and then promptly let go because you understand he likes his space but you just can’t help but indulge a little bit.
However, none of the aforementioned events play out this Friday. You’re not on the street corner, not there to smile and fall in step with him. There’s no arm hugging or a bubbly greeting Saiki pretends he isn’t affected by. But the truth is that he is, the routine coming somewhat as a comfort, even at the price of sacrificing some of his beloved personal space. So when you’re nowhere to be found his brows furrow and he wonders where you are.
His steps slow until he comes to a complete stop. He wants to check up on you, sooner rather than later. There isn’t much time to delay if he wants to make it to school before the first bell, but this won’t take long. He crosses his eyes, activating his clairvoyance, and he centers in on you immediately. You’re still at home. You’re at home, and you’re sick.
A box of tissues rests on your nightstand and you’ve pulled your small trash can right next to it from where it usually stands by your door. You toss used tissues into it before nestling beneath your blankets, pulling it up to just below your chin and hugging it close in order to retain heat. Your breath evens out quickly and he can tell you’re asleep. Your body must be exhausted dealing with your cold, and he’s confident this is the way you will be the rest of the day—drifting in and out of sleep, dealing with the sniffles and congestion.
He blinks and loses sight of you and now he’s staring once more down the road. Readjusting his bag on his shoulder with a sigh, he resumes walking and thinks about his plans for the day. As it was the last day of the school week, he’d planned to go to Cafe Mami for coffee jelly to celebrate. But now that he’s learned you’re sick in bed, he’d have to make adjustments. Momentarily he debates if that’s really necessary. You probably wouldn’t want visitors in the state you’re in, and knowing you, you’d tell him to go to the cafe without you to enjoy himself anyway. The thought is tempting, truly, yet he can’t shake the urge to check on you.
It feels less like an obligation and more like a simple desire of his own to make sure you’re okay. Saiki shakes his head, more amused than frustrated. There’s no one else for whom he would so willingly do this, or much else, for, and he doesn’t think he’d ever tell you because you’ll tease him the way you are wont to do whenever his facade cracks and he’ll let you have your fun because when you ask if you’re really so different as to make him act this way, the answer is, well, yes. You are.
He imagines this scenario and the corner of his lips lifts in a small smile. Good grief. You could be quite the handful.
“Hey, Saiki!”
Nendo’s voice is entirely too loud for the morning and Saiki heaves another sigh, one that sounds as though it belongs at the end of the day and not the beginning. Nendo is joined close behind by Kaidou and Kuboyasu, and they easily fill the silence with discussions about going to get ramen after class and the latest movements of the Dark Reunion. Saiki really only picks up words here and there that allude to the topic of conversation but it doesn’t require his full attention. It’s the same song and dance every morning.
The commotion once he arrives at school is much the same. During lectures he is afforded the temporary reprieve from having his ears talked off, since the only one speaking is the teacher, but at breaks, the noise resumes, and though he always stays sitting at his desk, in hopes the others will get the hint that he’s uninterested in chatting, they inevitably crowd themselves around it, until he is right in the middle.
Hairo has outlined a new workout regimen and in his louder than normal volume of speaking he shares it. He’s going to start it today, and if anyone wants to join, they’re more than welcome. It doesn’t look like anyone wants to take the offer, which is expected. Hairo’s exercise routines were… a little extreme.
In any case, Hairo is nonplussed by the lack of enthusiasm from everyone else and remarks he can’t wait for the end of the school day.
“I think I’ve been losing muscle tone,” he laments, and he complements this statement with a casual flex of his arm, more so to point out the specific areas he thinks are getting soft rather than to show off, but even if he isn’t trying, his biceps are bulging and if his sleeves hadn’t been rolled up, they would have torn.
Saiki’s brow raises. Yeah… I don’t think that’s an issue for you, Hairo.
“I’ve just finished installing an indoor gym at my home, you know.”
Everyone turns to find Saiko has entered into the circle, a smug smirk on his face. When had he gotten here? Really it’s only Hairo who has any sort of reaction to this, eyes practically sparkling imagining the machines and equipment (or maybe that’s just the glare from the fluorescent classroom lights). All the same, Saiko relishes the attention, boasting of the privacy and space and how really, it’s so much easier to be productive if there’s no one else there but Saiki can only wonder if Saiko even works out at all. He doesn’t remember that being mentioned, and Saiki is nothing if not detail oriented.
Saiki doesn’t have long to ponder over this (not that it would’ve continued much longer because he doesn’t actually care about whether Saiko exercises or just set up a gym in his house to brag) before Nendo asks where you are.
Had he just noticed? You always join them on their walk in the morning. But Saiki can’t say he’s surprised it took this long. What he is surprised about is that Nendo had noticed in the first place.
“Oh that’s right,” Kuboyasu adds. “I thought she just went ahead of us today.”
Yumehara informs them of your whereabouts before Saiki does. “She texted me this morning she wasn’t feeling well so she stayed home.” Her phone dings with a new message and she glances at it, then looks back up. “But she says she’s a little more awake now!”
“It’s the Dark Reunion.” Kaidou’s sudden interjection draws everyone’s attention. He clenches his right fist, staring at the bandages wrapped around it. “They’re trying to get to me by going after my friends!”
Saiki remains expressionless but if he didn’t have such good control he would’ve rolled his eyes. Or maybe she just has a cold.
Upon Kaidou’s claim that a secret society is responsible for your illness, Saiki picks up Yumehara’s thoughts: I wish I was the one Kaidou was so worried about! Maybe if I got sick he’d worry about me too! Getting sick to grab Kaidou’s attention? That’s… going overboard, but Saiki can’t find it in him to be shocked, considering from whose mind this speculation has sprung.
“Poor [Name],” Teruhashi says, kind as always. She sets an index finger on her chin, gaze momentarily aimed upwards as she thinks. “I was about to suggest we all go to the cafe after school today and I wish she could join.”
This gives Saiki pause. Wait. The cafe?
“That sounds like a great idea!” Yumehara declares. Again Saiki hears her thoughts: If we go, I need to do my best sit next to Kaidou!
Whether a visit to Cafe Mami comes across as a good idea because it’s a fun way to celebrate the end of the school week or simply because Teruhashi suggested it, Saiki doesn’t know, but one by one the murmurs of assent resound through the group and he barely contains a relieved huff. He’d already changed his own plans from visiting the cafe to seeing you instead, and it’s a good thing too since it’s apparent his alone time would’ve been ruined. Now he has an excuse not to stick around.
Once the final bell rings, they begin their walk into town towards the cafe. The sidewalk feels crowded with all of them on it, and they have to split into pairs to keep the opposite side of the sidewalk free for people going the other way. Among comments from everyone else about how hungry they are, Saiki makes known his intention to just pick up food before leaving. There’s somewhere he needs to be.
“You’re going to go make sure [Name] is doing okay!” Teruhashi exclaims. It’s a statement, not a question. “That’s sweet of you.”
Saiki shrugs. “Sweet” is not the first word he would associate with his actions. It just seems like common sense to check on you. You’d looked miserable this morning, but he takes your message to Yumehara earlier as a good sign that you’re improving, slowly and surely. Still, he’d be more comfortable seeing you himself. He hadn’t gotten any other chances today to use his clairvoyance, but at least it wouldn’t be long now until he’d be heading to your house.
Chisato is working today and she seats everyone. Saiki goes directly to the counter to place his order—coffee jelly for him and strawberry mochi for you—and he stands off to the side while waiting for the treats to be packed. The others are sitting on the far side of the cafe (in his peripherals he sees Yumehara has taken a seat right next to Kaidou) but he can hear them clear as day discussing what food they should order. Yes, he’s certainly glad he won’t be sticking around. Spending Friday in the midst of that noise is far from ideal.
Holding the bag of coffee jelly and mochi in one hand, Saiki uses the other to push open the door, the bell jingling gently, and someone, Nendo it sounds like, raises their voice to shout across the room: Seeya later, Saiki! Then the door closes behind him, and all he can hear is the footsteps of other pedestrians and the low whoosh of cars.
He exhales slowly. Peace at last. He proceeds in the direction of your home, and when he thinks to himself that any longer and his ears might’ve begun to bleed, he’s only half joking.
In the neighborhood it’s much quieter, the only person he passes being someone walking their dog, and only a couple of cars drive past. He knocks on the door and he assumes you’re in your room and so it will take some time for you to open it, but you’re there faster than he expects. You open it just wide enough to stand in the gap, and immediately he notices the fatigue in your eyes. When you realize it’s him, they light up, and the fatigue fails to take away from the brightness of your smile as you open the door wider.
“Kusuo!”
Inside, he sees you’ve moved downstairs to the living room. That’s why you’d answered the door so quickly. There’s a pile of blankets on the couch and a tissue box on the coffee table. The television is on and playing an animation. He doesn’t recognize it, but it must be one of the new ones you mentioned wanting to watch. However, you’re not interested in it now that he's here and you grab the remote to turn down the volume.
“I thought you were going to the cafe today,” you state, head tilting.
Saiki shakes his head. Change of plans. Instead I brought the cafe to us. He holds up the bag of food and doesn’t have to tell you what’s in it. You squeal in delight that he’s come bearing treats, but the sound is a little raspy and awkward due to your sore throat. It’s still easier on Saiki’s ears than the earlier commotion he’d been surrounded with and, if he’s honest, it’s cute.
You plop down on the couch and wait as he joins you. He unties the bag and opens the box, first taking out the packaged pink mochi and handing it to you. Then he grabs his coffee jelly and the plastic spoon it came with before settling back against the cushions.
You sit cross-legged facing him and bite into your soft and squishy treat, humming delightedly. “Thanks, Kusuo.”
Saiki chews a mouthful of coffee jelly and glances at you.
You grin and hold up the mochi. “For the snack and for coming to see me.”
He shrugs because it’s no big deal. Or, well, he tries to play it off like it’s no big deal. But you know him better than that, better than most others do, and don’t brush it off so quickly. You breathe out dramatically and set a hand on your chest.
“What must I have done for Kusuo Saiki to give up his quiet time for me?” Then you giggle, and it’s punctuated at the end by a sniffle.
He tells you there would’ve been no quiet time at the cafe since the others had also decided to go, and that you’re much better company. Even when I’m sneezy? you ask him, and he chuckles. Yes, even when you’re sneezy.
His remark about coming to see you because he’d prefer to be here and not at the cafe with the rest of your friends is merely part of the truth. The rest of it is that he did genuinely want to check on you to make sure you were okay. Though to give this a voice felt like too much for someone typically so reserved in his feelings, but you understand perfectly fine as you smile softly. You’re appreciative of his actions, and it would seem Teruhashi had been right about them, for you murmur that he reminds you of the mochi you’re eating: You’re so sweet!
Grabbing your mug from the coffee table, you frown when you see it’s empty. “I ran out of tea.”
Saiki sets the spoon and now empty container back in the box then holds his hand out. You blink, momentarily confused, but when it registers what he’s doing, you give him the mug. As he stands to make his way into the kitchen, you call after him.
“Thank you!”
Having been to your house a number of times already, he knows where everything is and starts brewing a fresh cup of tea. You’ve turned the volume up on the television again, but you have to rewind to return of the spot you were at before he’d arrived. Once he comes back with a filled mug, instead of allowing it to continue to play, you pause your show.
You’d snuggled beneath the blankets and have to finagle your arms out of the multiple layers to take the mug from him. You say thanks again and blow gently at the tendrils of steam floating from it. The ceramic is warm in the palms of your hands and you sigh contentedly.
“Sorry I’m a little high maintenance today,” you apologize suddenly. “I’d make the tea myself but I just have such little energy…”
Saiki wishes you wouldn’t apologize because there’s nothing to be sorry for. So he tells you as much. Don’t apologize. Besides, he’d offered to make that tea, and if you wanted soup, he’d offer to make that too. He does understand where you come from, however. You tend to be more independent, opting to do things yourself, and you also know his propensity for being alone and needing space. As such, you’re careful not to be overbearing, and the idea of Saiki doing even little tasks like brewing you tea bothers you.
It’s endearing, the level of care you take to make sure he’s comfortable too, but when he says you’re far from high maintenance, he means it. You immediately understand what he’s implying and laugh before scooting closer and leaning your head on his shoulder.
“Okay, point made,” you concede. With a small smile, Saiki grabs the remote you’d tossed down on the couch and presses play.
He would struggle to call you high maintenance on any day considering who your friends are. They’re loud and all over the place, practically bouncing off the walls. Life could hardly be tranquil when around them and their antics. It’s the total opposite of Saiki, who values calm and silence. If they were high maintenance, he was low maintenance. That’s the way he prefers to be, existing in relative quiet and as close to mediocrity as he can muster. But he can't say he’s opposed to the occasional interruption to the otherwise mundane, especially where it concerns you. You’re not to be found on one side or the other, but right in the middle, and to Saiki, you are just right.

Prep and Goth
Day 1: Enemies to Lovers/Secret Library Time
---
Weiss stared at the clock, mentally urging the second hand to move faster. The transition between this period and the next always took the longest- or at least it felt like time slowed down around this point in the day. She hated how the end of the period never caught her off guard; she was always keenly aware of the clock, with her work done and backpack already packed and ready for her to leave the classroom. She was usually the first one out the door.
“Hey, if I give you five lien, could you get me a redbull?”
“No, Ruby; for the last time, I don’t have a release period next, I’m a library aide.”
“Oh, come on, everyone knows you just show up, sign in, and disappear!” Her fellow senior slumped in her seat. “It’s not like you’re going to get in trouble! Ms. Goodwitch knows you ditch and she doesn’t say anything!”
How she’d become friends- perhaps even best friends- with the school’s most energetic track star was beyond her; it involved an ill fated chemistry lab and the fire department but, honestly, she couldn’t remember specific details beyond that. While Weiss would love to say she merely put up with and tolerated Ruby, the truth was that she still hadn’t entirely adjusted to the concept of having someone who would be with her through thick and thin. She was being… persuaded to open up to the young woman but she still kept more secrets than she probably should from her best friend.
“I swear, Ruby Rose, if you keep spreading such slander about my character, I’ll be forced to take drastic action!” She tore her gaze away from the clock to glare at the woman. “I do not skip class!”
Rolling her silver eyes, Ruby rested her head on her desk and groaned. “Just because you’re the Valedictorian doesn’t mean you have to be perfect, Weiss. No one’s going to care if you ditch one period.”
“I care!” The bell rang a moment later and she forgot about the argument entirely as she quickly grabbed her pack and fast walked to the door.
The walk from her class to the library was a blessedly short one, made slightly longer by classmates and underclassmen getting in her way as other students emerged into the hallway for the passing period. A cold glare managed to persuade some of them to move but not all of them- those blessedly ignorant few she stepped around or nearly barreled through if she could get away with it. It probably contributed to her reputation of being a vicious, cut throat type of person like her sister but her patience had worn too thin and she needed to get to the library.
A few steps from her goal, a hand suddenly landed on her shoulder and spun her around, and only two people in the whole school would dare put their hands on her like that, and only one of them for no good reason. “YANG-”
“Calm down, Princess, this’ll be quick, promise!” With hands on Weiss’ shoulders, she guided them away from the throng of students to a small alcove next to the library doors. “Just got something I need to say real quick.”
“What could you possibly have to say to me?” Weiss scowled at the blonde, annoyed that she seemed to get taller every time they talked, and crossed her arms over her chest. “Last I checked, I didn’t have anything to do with the girls’ basketball team. Or the weightlifting team. Or the boxing team. Or-”
Yang clapped her hands together in front of Weiss’ face, smiling that do-you-really-think-they’ll-expel-me smile of hers. “Hey, do me a favor? Drop the frigid bitch act for, like, five minutes, okay? Because I really don’t have the time for it; if you wanna go toe-to-toe in the bitch-out-lypmics, we can schedule that another time, but right now, I need to have a serious talk with you. It’s about Blake.”
At the namedrop, her blood ran cold and her heart lodged in her throat, eyes growing wide as a genuine tendril of fear began taking root in her chest. “Is she okay?”
“Well, that depends,” Yang replied, looking around at their classmates walking past without paying them any mind. “Look. I don’t get it, okay, the whole secret girlfriends thing, I don’t even know how you two got together… but what I do know is that Blake deserves better than someone who’s ashamed of her-”
“Don’t you dare put words in my mouth,” she hissed, worry turning to fury in the blink of an eye. “I’m not ashamed to be dating Blake. If it was safe, everyone would know!”
“Yeah, can you define ‘safe’ for me in this context? Because I’m having a real hard time convincing Blake you’re being sincere when you don’t want anyone knowing the two of you are dating.”
“You know we’re dating!”
“Because I refuse to let things go and I knew she was acting weird!” Yang growled in frustration, fingers flexing as if she was seriously debating throttling Weiss. “Listen, I figured it out and I bullied her into telling me weeks ago, but not even Ruby knows beyond that. Not a fan of keeping secrets but I’ll do it for a friend. Now, answer my question, please, because with the rest of the school convinced you two hate each other, this whole ‘don’t tell anyone we’re dating thing’ is clear as mud, and it’s really starting to get to her.”
Weiss’ shoulders fell as she looked away, her anger abating in the face of the situation presented to her. “It’s… complicated.”
“Then uncomplicate it for me.” Yang made a gesture with one hand. “Just give me a straight answer!”
“I can’t!” She stamped her foot, speaking before she could think about her word choice. “I can only give you a gay answer!”
Yang stared at her for a long moment. “So, that’s what Blake meant when she said you have the worst sense of humor.”
“I’m done with this conversation-”
Yang grabbed her arm and stopped her, expression turning serious. “Listen, you don’t wanna talk to me? Fine. But talk to Blake. If you really care about her, she deserves to hear that.”
As the blonde stepped away, the bell rang, making both of them late- not that it would matter. Ms. Goodwitch wouldn’t count her late and even if she did, a single tardy wouldn’t be much of a blemish on her record. There was a time when it would’ve bothered her but she’d grown past that a few years ago; perfection was, in some sense, in the eye of the beholder. Blake would notice, though, and she hurried to the library to keep her ‘secret girlfriend’ from worrying.
When she got to the library, she dropped her bag behind the counter and signed in, highly aware that Blake was somewhere among the rows reshelving books.
The librarian gave her a small nod. “I presume you have good reason for being late but don’t make a habit of it.”
“Of course, Ms. Goodwitch.” With that, she grabbed a few leftover books that needed reshelving and went into the stacks to reshelve them. As soon as she was far enough away from the front desk, she spoke in a soft voice that Blake would be able to hear regardless. “Blake? I’m sorry I’m late.”
“Is everything alright?” She’d long ago grown accustomed to the faunus’ silent steps, which really shouldn’t be possible given the amount of glistening chains and bits of metal hung from her ensemble but it was one of those things Weiss had accepted about Blake at first and had grown to admire. “It’s not like you to be late.”
“I… got pulled into a conversation.” She debated, briefly, if she should mention who the conversation was with but ultimately decided against it. Yang would likely bring it up herself at some point but she didn’t want the distraction at present. “Blake… you know I care about you, right?”
“Yes, Weiss, and I care about you, too,” she replied, her voice holding that special lilt that Weiss used to think was snideness. Now, she recognized it as a gentle sort of teasing and, sometimes, a deflection. “What brought this on?”
“I’ve been thinking about some things… and I find myself curious about some… other things.”
“Truly, you have a way with words.”
“I’m trying to be serious!” Weiss whined, putting a hand to her head as she tried to think of a way to word what she wanted to say. In the next moment, Blake stepped up and wrapped her arms around her waist, resting her chin on Weiss’ shoulder in a silent show of support. This was, partly, where they differed, because even when words escaped Blake, the faunus could somehow find a way to convey what she needed; Weiss, in contrast, simply clammed up entirely if she didn’t begin insulting whoever was nearest. “You know the only reason we’re not dating publicly is because of my family, right? That, the moment I turn eighteen and gain access to my funds, I’ll shout it from the rooftops… right?”
Blake took a step back but one hand lingered on Weiss’ hip, a soft assurance that she wasn’t leaving but that they should probably have a conversation like this face-to-face. When she turned around, she searched shining amber eyes and found a touch of disbelief hiding there. “I’ll admit, I didn’t think it was the only reason.”
“It really is…” Weiss sighed, running a hand through her bangs in frustration. “I… I don’t know how to prove it, I don’t know if there’s anything I could say or do that would, but… I don’t want you thinking that I’m ashamed of dating you… that’s… that’s the furthest from the truth.”
Feline ears flicked towards one end of the row and both of them quickly focused on shelving the few books that remained as a group of students went back to one of the study rooms. Once the coast was clear, Blake sighed heavily. “I told Yang to drop it.”
“She’s trying to help.” Begrudgingly, she continued. “Ruby’s the same way. They meddle when they can but they have the best of intentions.”
“Still… she wasn’t too… forceful, was she?”
“She only threatened to throttle me, so no, she wasn’t too forceful.” Weiss tilted her head. “And, arguably, she has a salient point. I… I perhaps took it for granted that you would… that I made my feelings about you clear to you.”
Blake ducked her head, her ears flicking back briefly to blending into midnight black hair. As per her usual, the faunus was bedecked in all black save for the silver of the chains hanging from her pants and the snake bite piercings on her bottom lip. Whenever they were making out, Weiss found that flicking either of the piercings with her tongue would always result in a soft groan from Blake.
“So… when you turn eighteen…basically, when we graduate?” Blake took a step forward. “That’s… a long time to be a secret from everyone.”
“Well… not from everyone. Yang knows.”
“Uh huh.”
“And Ruby will know… when I tell her…”
“Right.” Blake came a bit closer. “I guess that means we won’t be going to prom together.”
Weiss raised a brow, then caught onto what her girlfriend was doing, a smile tugging at her lips. “You? Go to prom?” A soft chuckle. “I thought you said you wouldn’t be caught dead at… what was it you called it? A useless party for empty headed idiots?”
“And a waste of money. I said that, too.” Blake stopped just a hair’s breadth away and very nonchalantly shelved a book just behind Weiss’ shoulder. “But you’ve got a crown to win, right? Prom Queen to go with your other honors?”
“There’s only one crown that I care to claim,” she replied, reaching up to bury her hand in midnight locks between the faunus’ ears and pulling her down into a kiss. Normally, they didn’t indulge in such outside of Ms. Goodwitch’s office, which the librarian granted them access to once they’d reshelved all the books. If she suspected what they did in there, she remained silent, probably because while reshelving the books they would also fix what other aides did incorrectly and she appreciated the help more than she cared to curtail PDAs.
The kiss didn’t last too long- just long enough to drive her point home- but the look in amber eyes almost made her too weak to move.
Weiss gathered her courage. “I do love you, Blake.”
Not ‘care about’, not ‘fond of’, not any other arrangement of words she’d used over the past year to describe how she felt. Fear that caring too much would make her careless had prevented her from saying the words before. Now, though, she couldn’t go another moment without Blake understanding exactly how much she cared.
After the shock passed, Blake smiled softly, ears canting forward. “I love you too, Weiss.”
It took a moment for them to part but they returned to the counter and finished reshelving the books.
“Blake?”
“Yes?”
“Do you think I’d look good in black?”
---
Hi, yes, please join me in picturing Blake as a late 90′s/early 00′s goth girl.

how haikyuu!! characters confess to you on valentine’s day💘
characters: kyōtani, tsukishima, sugawara & akaashi
tw// none
kentarō kyōtani
♡ writes you letter and puts you it in your locker 🥺
♡ but you catch him in the act FDGHJGFD
♡ he memorised that you usually arrive at school at around half passed eight so he made it a point to get to school extra early so nobody would see him
♡ but little did he know, you had the exact same plan in mind 🤦♂️
♡ so when you walked into school and noticed kyōtani aggressively pounding on your locked bc his chucky letter wouldn’t fit through the slot, you both froze in your tracks
♡ he realised how shady it looked that he was trying to get into your locker — plus, he was aware that he already had the appearance and the reputation of a delinquent, so he immediately thought that you would assume he was trying to rob your locker
♡ but in reality, not even for a second did you think that he was trying to steal anything
♡ but either way, mans took off 🏃♂️
♡ cut to you chasing him through the hallways, yelling for him to come back so you could confess to him
♡ but he thought you were chasing him bc you were angry
♡ eventually he reached a dead-end so he had no choice but to face your wrath
♡ so imagine his surprise when - instead of screaming at him - you handed him a box of chocolates in a heart-shaped box, with a little sticky note on top with ‘be my valentine?’ written on it
♡ he was speechless so he just kinda looked up and stared at you with a blank expression
♡ ‘i know it’s cheesy but it was the best i could come up with.’ you stuttered, desperately trying to break the awkward silence kyōtani had left you in
♡ he was finally able to process what you had just given him and subtly shoved his love letter into his pocket now that you had confessed to him, ‘uh, thanks, i guess.’
♡ your lips instinctively fell into a frown, assuming that was a ‘no’. but to hide your disappointment, you forced a smile back on before turning your heels and hastily rushing away - planning to go cry in the bathroom now ✌ ‘okay, erm, bye, kyōtnani!’
♡ kyōtani’s eyes widened at how shaky your voice was all of a sudden and why you seemed to desperate to get away from him. had he said something to upset you?
♡ ‘uh, bye. meet me by the gates after school today.’
♡ you paused in your tracks, almost tripping over by doing so, ‘why?’ you choked, peering over you shoulder to look at him with hopeful, wide-eyes which caught him off-guard
♡ like jesus christ you looked cute-
♡ he felt his cheeks heat up at the sight so he quickly turned his head to the side and barked, ‘don’t be an idiot! obviously i’m gonna take you to the shop and buy you some chocolates - it’s only fair.’
♡ ‘like..a date?!’ you squealed, twirling around and clasping your hands together in delight
♡ ‘no.’
♡‘oh-’
♡ ‘i’ll take you on a date in the park afterwards.’
♡ you bounced excitedly, unable to resist the urge to throw yourself into his arms and hold him in a tight embrace, ‘i can’t wait!’
♡ kyōtani let out a light sigh of relief as he felt your chest press tightly against his own, ‘yeah, same’
♡ although he didn’t sound too enthusiastic, he showed that he was looking forward to the date by skipping practise so you didn’t have to wait for him :))
kei tsukishima
♡ he does not ask you to be his valentine’s at the start of the day
♡ he just waits - not so patiently - for you to ask him
♡ but you didn’t >:(
♡ he was livid
♡ oh and during lunch you got him so hopeful bc you were like ‘oh, tsukki! i almost forgot. i’ve got something for you!’
♡ and he was like 90% sure it was a box of chocolates to accompany your confession but it was hIS FKN CHARGER THAT HE ACCIDENTALLY LEFT AT YOUR HOUSE A FEW DAYS AGO AAAAAA
♡ grrr so since the whole day passed and you didn’t confess to him, he figured that he had to do everything himself 🙄
♡ last period, he texted you, asking for you to meet him at his house after your club
♡ (he wanted to confess in a location where there was no one around to make fun of him if he got rejected and if he was accepted, then he could take you on a date to the café near his house)
♡ so begrudgingly, you did - but after your club
♡ and you were under the impression that he went to volleyball club that day so he wouldn’t have to wait by his house for too long but rather, he skipped that day so he could first pop to the shops to buy a bouquet
♡ when you arrived at his house, you were greeted by him holding at bouquet of flowers and forcefully shaking them, indicating that he wanted you to take them
♡ ‘what are these for, tsukki?’ you hummed, grasping the stems of the flowers and slowly pulling them towards you, taking a long whiff of their sweet scent
♡ tsukishima looked away shyly, unable to make eye-contact with you without blushing. damn, this was harder than he thought.
♡ ‘for valentine’s day, duh.’
♡ you smirked, hugging the bouquet to your chest as you gazed up at him longingly, ‘so are you asking me to be your valentine or are these sympathy flowers?’
♡ tsukishima rolled his eyes, ‘asking you to be my valentine. but you’re so oblivious, i’m starting to regret it now.’
♡ that was a lie
♡ tsukishima mentally scolded himself; he was literally trying to get you to go out with him? why was he insulting you?
♡ ‘well, i’d love to be your valentine, kei.’ you cooed, your arms full with the flowers so instead of hugging him, you pressed your face in his chest and steadily, his large hand found it‘s way to your back, rubbing up and down your spine
♡ although on the outside he acted all nonchalant about it, on the inside he was setting off fireworks and celebrating
♡ there was a long while of silence between the two of you, until he broke it by inquiring, ‘wanna go get something to eat?’
♡ ‘yessss!’
kōshi sugawara
♡ probably planned for weeks beforehand
♡ makin sure he was extra fanon suga around you
♡ so when valentine’s day rolls around, he gives you a box of homemade cookies with barely any explanation
♡ then you noticed a lil’ sticky note on it, telling you to meet him at his house at 7PM
♡ you acted accordingly and once you arrived at his house, you were greeted by more homemade cookies and sugawara in a tuxedo
♡ ofc he led you to his back garden, gesturing for you to take a seat at the table he had set out under his small gazebo
♡ the table was all set for a hot date; which you could tell by the pale tablecloth, expensive-looking ivory plates, sparkling clean cutlery and the cherry on top was the candle he had lit which sat in the middle of the table
♡ then he came out with cloche, rushing up to you before lifting the lid - and once the clouds of steam subsided, you realised it was your favourite food-
♡ ‘you’re so extra, kōshi.’ you whined, hiding your blushing face with your hands
♡ he chuckled at your flustered reaction, taking a seat on the chair across from you only to lean across the table slightly to get a better view of you, ‘i just wanted this to be perfect for you, (y/n).’ he shrugged, not sure whether to take your statement as a compliment or insult
♡ ‘it is. thank you!’ you finally removed your hands from your face for him to see your grateful expression
♡ UHGFFKUJ HIS HEART 🥺
♡ anyway, he probably makes a big deal out of feeding you the first few bites of your food bc he thought it’d be romantic but he accidently dropped some on your school bottoms smh
♡ also, at some point in the night, he makes sure to do that thing where he leans across the table and eyes your lips while wiping some food off the corner of them
♡ oh and knuckle kisses 🥰
♡ he genuinely didn’t want the night to end so his heart sunk when he had to escort you back to your house
♡ but at least he got to hold your hand :))
♡ you were both staring up at the gorgeous night sky that was decorated by stars in comfortable silence, until sugawara realised something, ‘oh, i didn’t even ask you to be my valentine- my bad!’
♡ before you could coo an ‘it’s okay’, suga had already skipped in front of you and fell to one knee, taking you hand in his own and bringing it to his lips
♡ ‘kōshi’ you squealed, trying to cover your face with your spare hand - your heart skipped a beat at how similar sugawara’s actions were to a proposal
♡ suga thought you were so cute when you were shy aaaa (❤´艸`❤)
♡ ‘(y/n), will you do me the honour of being my valentine?’
♡ ‘you’re such a prince!’ you gasped upon making a connection between sugawara’s signature beam and that of a charming prince from movies
♡ suga faltered at how off-topic your comment was, ‘thank you- but is that a no?’
♡ your eyes widened, rapidly shaking your head and dropping to your knees to place a lil’ peck on his forehead, ‘nonono! it’s a yes!’
♡ suga couldn’t help but snort at your adorable actions, mimicking them and pecking the tip of your nose
keiji akaashi
♡ definitely a secret admirer thing leading up to valentine’s day
♡ he’s been leaving notes in your locker for months tho
♡ he just loved seeing the wide grin spread across your face while you read the letter he wrote
♡ then he realised that valentine’s day was approaching so that gave him an excuse to confess
♡ one day he somehow mustered up the courage to write ‘meet me by the forest at 5′ on it and as soon as he slipped it into your locker, he was panicking
♡ like he was so anxious; the biggest fear on his mind being that, what if you didn’t like him?
♡ he was even considering not showing up bc he was too nervous
♡ but the last thing he wanted to do was ghost you and potentially hurt your feelings so he turned up
♡ when you saw him, he was acting so odd - hardly even acknowledging your presence - that you weren’t sure if he was the one writing the letters or if it’s just a coincidence
♡ ‘hi..’ he finally murmured, gently tapping your shoulder to grab your attention
♡ you smiled, clutching the letter to your chest as you twitched with excitement, ‘hi! are you, erm..the person who’s been writing these letters?’
♡ akaashi nodded, keeping his gaze glued to the ground while awkwardly fidgeting with his fingers
♡ ‘oh- well, they’re so beautiful! you have such a way with words and you make my day ten times brighter. thank you so much, akaashi.’
♡ he perked up upon hearing you say his name, he didn’t think you knew it-
♡ i mean, yeah, you were in the same biology and maths class but in the past, you’ve never even spared him a glance
♡ ‘it’s no problem. and seeing you smile makes my day brighter so..’ akaashi instantly cringed at how stalkerish and pathetic that must’ve sounded
♡ so needless to say, he was pleasantly surprised when you simply giggled in response, ‘you’re sweet- anyway, i was wondering you’d like to come with me to get tea or someth--’
♡‘sure.’ he was sold at ‘tea’.

How to get your crush to walk you to the nurse’s office (Highschool AU)
This is part 3, but it can be read alone!
Pairing: Childe x fem!reader
Warnings: Swearing, Mentions of a monster schlong, and unedited.
Parts: 1 2
Synopsis: Childe offers Lisa a shady deal to yet again sit next to you. However, all his efforts are in vain after he makes a complete fool out of himself by tripping over literally nothing because of a stupid cold. Maybe getting a cold isn’t so bad if he gets to be escorted to the nurse’s office by none other than yourself.
Note: Pure unedited crack luvs. Can’t wait for Childe rerun tmr I hope I get the ginger and the emo nun! 🥲💖
The eyes on you are suffocating, to say the least, enough for you to consider peeling a layer of your own skin off just to breathe. Every now and then, you get a teasing glance from a classmate, and you're sure you'll be an entire puddle of guts on your desk before home room even gets a chance to begin.
There's no doubt it's Signora that spread the news of your date yesterday as a means to some sick revenge. Knowing this was going to happen, you packed some salt in your backpack to cancel out all her evil. Now all you need is a chance to knuckle ball it in her face.
Fingers crossed, you pray to the archons that Childe didn't slip anything about your...brick slip yesterday. It's a good thing you weren't in a school uniform yesterday because that would've been the end of your high school life right there.
Thinking back to it, you collapse into your open hands. How could you have beaten a bunch up losers up...risking your flawless reputation for a sadistic ginger with an affinity for chaos? And worst of all, why did you care about them shit talking him in the first place?
"You okay dear? Something you want to tell me?" Lisa feigns concern, already knowing why.
With a sigh, you blink an eye open through the gap in your fingers. "Doing just fine."
"Oh it couldn't have been that bad." Her eyes shine in mischief. "I bet Childe was a real gentleman."
"He sure was." Kaeya pipes up from the back, leaning in to show you the image on his phone. It's a picture Childe took of you absolutely oblitering an ice cream cone.
You groan and slump deeper into your chair from embarrassment as Kaeya and Lisa engage in chatter, mostly revolving around your date.
Ignoring them completely, you start to ponder about Childe. Where is he? You were sure he'd be here bright and early to reminisce on your eventful date yesterday, which mostly consisted of a competition of who could win the most stall games at a local festival.
Maybe he'd even tease you about the Monoceros Caeli keychain attached to your phone. The very one he'd won for you, and the reason that started the competition in the first place.
Your cheeks warm when you fidget with said keychain, and you can't tell if the fast pace of your heart is because you're nervous to see him or because of the biology quiz you have second period.
So wrapped up in all these foreign emotions, you fail to notice the shadow that looms over you, a glittery finger guard tapping at your desk.
The student council President, Ningguang, plops down a stack of budget files on your desk during homeroom. She's gives you a light smile, and you know what's coming when you meet her alluring gaze.
"Be a dear Y/N," Ningguang smiles, tight lipped, all pretty with her hair pinned back to crown her face. "Even with all hands on deck, i'm afraid the student council's efforts will not come to ripeness concerning all of this paperwork."
This isn't the first time you've done her a favour by becoming the president's personal accountant, and it definitely isn't going to be the last.
Ningguang is powerful, with wit like no other, and you want to be able to call in a chit when the time comes.
"Of course," You reply with a smile that rivals her own. "I'll have them done by the end of the day."
"Excellent. I knew I could count on you, Y/N." She departs elegantly, probably opting to sit next to Beidou and bicker.
You're halfway on the third sheet for total income, a minute before class starts, when you're interrupted. Childe stumbles through the door quite noisily, a shitstain of a grin plastered on his face that is directed at you.
You sigh and shake your head as he approaches you. Thankfully the seat next to you is occupied by—
Shit! Where's Lisa?
Across the classroom, Lisa gives you a thumbs up with a bar of vending machine chocolate in her hand. You should've known she'd betray you yet again.
Childe slides in smoothly after bumping fists with Kaeya, and he falls short of containing his giddy nature.
"Hi Y/N." There's something weird about him today, because you're sure you haven't seen his cheeks so flushed ever. His eyes land on your phone, which is splayed on the desk, and the keychain widens his grin.
You snatch your phone and hide it in the middles of your thighs, but the damage is already done. The urge to shrink against the wall has never been as strong as it is in this moment.
"Hi." It's a miracle you haven't combusted on the spot. Is it usually this awkward? Everything went so fine yesterday, so why can't you ease into it today?
He takes that as a go ahead and instantly reaches for your hand on the table, but you retract at the speed of light.
"Don't even think about it." You're ready to connect the tip of your trainers to his bleached asshole, nose crinkled at his behaviour.
Kaeya whistles lowly, leaning forward for the HD show that is your life.
Childe's smile is sheepish as he's scratching the back of his head. "So we're not on that stage yet huh? I seriously thought you had a change of heart after you beat up those high schoolers for m—"
You muffle his statement with a hand on his mouth, and send a pointed glare to Kaeya. "You didn't hear shit."
The Captain of the skating team nods innocently, and salutes. "Yes boss."
Returning your gaze to Childe, who looks like he's having the time of his life with your small hand on his mouth, you narrow your eyes. "Stop trying to spread rumours."
He can only hum in reply, but you feel a weird pressure on your palm and—
The smug asshole kisses your palm.
You pull back your hand and wipe at your pants, full of disbelief. "Did you just??? Did you just? Kiss my hand???" Mouth twisted, you have no idea what to think.
Childe's throws his head back, and his laugh rings in your ears. You hate yourself for wavering slightly at the sound before smacking his arm. His laughs turn into coughs, probably because he may have swallowed his saliva down the wrong pipe. Charming.
Where the fuck is Zhongli? It's already been five minutes too long into homeroom.
Rolling your eyes, you opt to continue and scribble down budget numbers and add sums up or whatever you were doing earlier after Childe pipes down, choosing to admire you quietly by leaning his weight on one arm. It's enough to make you squirm, face flushed.
"Can you not?" Clicking your tongue in disapproval, you don't look up as you speak.
"If you give me a kiss, then maybe." Childe's cheeky, ridiculously so, and he points a finger at his cheek.
"I don't negotiate with terrorists." You deadpan, fingers itching to choke something or rather...someone.
Childe pouts, and then his eyes close for a second, almost as if he's exhausted when he gives you a sort of smile. With how he's leaning in so close, you can easily spot the swelling in his eyes and the paleness of his face.
For the first time today, there's no bite in your tone when you ask with a slightly raised brow. "Are you okay Childe?"
"Yeah!" He's quick to answer ecstatically, snapping out of his tired haze by straightening himself up. "Better more than ever now that I've seen you, girlie."
You blush madly, the compliment enough for you to drop your pen on the ground. It rolls over beyond your reach.
"I'll get that." Childe jumps out of his chair and you're unable to stop him as he goes to go fetch your pen like the chivalrous idiot he is. There's a slight pause in his movement, his body taking longer to process the messages his brain is sending.
He recovers from the muddle in his cognition by shaking his head, and casually goes to pick up the pen, then ends the move by falling over backwards in unconsciousness.
"Childe!" You lunge for him, managing to catch him a second prior to his ass hitting the floor with the help of Kaeya, who somehow looks like he's expected this outcome from the very start.
The entire classroom clamps up and turns to look for the root of all the commotion.
"Don't just sit there and watch!" You hiss angrily, waving them off. "Someone get Zhongli!"
Aether doesn't need to be told twice as Venti and him race down the hall together. Venti probably just to use this opportunity of sudden chaos to skip homeroom.
"Looks like a fever." The Captain accesses the situation as a small crowd forms around you two. "There's no way he didn't feel it in the morning."
"The absolute idiot." You groan at his words. "Of course he'd try to have a pissing match with a cold."
"I'm still here you know." Childe slurs, leaning into you for warmth, chest rising and falling softly. "Just a...a little sleepy. Am I dreaming angel?"
You roll your eyes, but don't make any moves to lean away from his touch. "Anyone got a water bottle?" Curling your hands around his shoulder, you shift your gaze towards the crowd.
Somebody passes you an emerald green water bottle with dandelion charms that clink against the hard plastic handle from a nearby desk. It screams stupid, but you don't have time to judge the owner.
Opening it up hastily, you're about to let Childe take a sip until it's snatched away from you at the speed of light.
"Hey what gives!" You call out to Kaeya, who inspects the bottle closely with his one eye. He then nods in affirmation as if his suspicions are confirmed.
"I wouldn't recommend it." Is all he says when he motions for you to take a whiff, which you do so reluctantly, eyes closed.
The scent hits you all it once. It's watered down vodka, except without the watering down. Tears form from the intensity.
"The goddamn bard." You choke out, and it earns you a drained chuckle from the ginger that has his head situated on your forearm.
He has half the mind to nuzzle in further, but the position is convenient enough for you to crush his skull if you wish to do so. So he refrains, albeit reluctantly.
Zhongli manages to make it in less than two minutes, sipping on a cup of steaming tea as he breaks apart the crowd to crouch down. "Is everything alright? I came as soon as I could after I made this tea. I assumed it was just another prank."
Everyone in the room shakes their head incredulously.
"Unfortunately it isn't a prank. Childe fainted briefly." You tell him politely despite the urgency, since you're whipped for all your teachers.
"I didn't faint!" Childe groans, exasperated. "Got a little dizzy s'all."
"Yeah," Kaeya cuts in to summarize the situation. "I'll be happy to take him to the nurses office with Y/N—"
Zhongli clears his throat. "You won't be going anywhere Mr.Alberich. I'm sure you have five overdue assignments in my class. Y/N here can walk him just fine." He then attempts to wink at Childe secretly like the wingman he is, but everyone in the classroom and their grandma notices.
The facepalm you do is not enough to render you brain dead.
Pinching the bridge of your nose, you sigh for the nth time today, and it's only eight thirty in the morning. "No worries, Lisa can help—"
"Sorry cutie. I'm manifesting for the biology quiz." Lisa deflects, lighting three candles on her desk unceremoniously with her eyes closed.
You don't understand why no one has confiscated her box of matches yet. This entire school is a law suit waiting to happen.
You succumb to the team effort everyone is trying so hard to display. "I guess I can go." The hall pass is already written, signed, and neatly folded into the chest pocket of your uniform. "How did you even..."
You don't even get a chance to finish before both you and Childe are whisked away to the outside of the classroom, the door shutting behind you with a slam. Your ears perk up at the sound of a lock clicking in place.
"Looks like you're stuck with me." The smug bastard still has the audacity to beam even when he's pale in the face. "Might have to hold my arm. If I fall and crack my skull—that wouldn't look too good on your record." He makes grabby hands, like a toddler.
The smile you give is unnerving, and with the speed of a snail, you manage to loop in your arm with Childe's. "Another word and let's move on to how your hospital record is going to have more than just a cracked skull."
"If you'd nurse me back to health, it'll all be worth it." The quip he sends without a beat lacks its usual goof, but it does manage to get some sort of reaction out of you.
"Whatever. Let's just get this over with."
—
Childe's busy thumbing at his phone while you pace at the foot of the bed, arms crossed with a frown etched on your features. You hope you don't look too worried, don't want to give him the wrong idea.
"Can we just get this over with?" He wails uncharacteristically from his spot on the white sheeted bed after ruling out everything he wanted to do on his phone. His hair is tousled more than usual, as a by-product of his constant restlessness.
"Shut up." You answer monotonously, arms crossed as you lean against the wall. "Let her finish her tiktok."
Barbara—the daughter of the school nurse, has her phone on the window, lip syncing and dancing to some music on beat as she films a tiktok with the utmost of important.
It's concerning that her father isn't here to tend to your needs, but apparently he's in the middle of a meeting with principle Varka. Said meeting had been going on for the past few months, but this school is devoid of logic anyways so nobody really questions anything.
"I'm literally dying here."
"Archons you're such a baby," Shaking your head, you approach his bed with a newfound annoyance. "Barbara has to create a tiktok at least once every twenty four hours or her fan club goes feral and..."
"Tries to jump off the roof as the ultimate sacrifice to her majesty." Childe sighs, and for the first time you sense his irritation. "Got it."
Just in time, Barbara finishes her cute little dance and comes over to where Childe is laying.
Childe doesn't miss the way your scowl has dissipated, and you give Barbara your undivided attention, hearts in your eyes from all the adoration. He has half the mind to call you out on it, no doubt a little jealous over how the young highschool idol can get you to show more emotion than him.
"I'm so sorry! I started those tiktoks out of mild interest but now I have an obligation to my fans." The younger apologizes profusely, getting to work almost immediately.
"No worries." Childe starts, staying still as the blonde examines him. "I'm sure it's nothing too serious. Y/N here is being dramatic, she probably just wants to spend some alone time with me."
You inhale sharply, turn to Barbara, and ask. "If I jumped out of the window right now from this floor, would it be a quick and easy death?"
The younger girl's eyes widen, and Childe stifles his snort.
"Kidding." You raise your hands up to cease her worries, and then motion towards him. "Common cold?"
"Yes," Barbara moves on and writes down something on a slip. "We'll just keep him here until his parents can pick him up."
"My parents can't pick me up." He asserts in a casual tone. "Don't call them."
"We still have to call them. If they don't come, you're to stay in this bed all day." She hands you the note, which is a viable excuse for all the classes he'll miss today. "Give this to his homeroom teacher. You'd also better get to class, your hall pass is about to expire."
"Hold up." You remark, barely paying attention to the note that you've shoved down your pocket. "I'm not leaving him here alone." There's no room for argument, your decision is firmly stated.
Childe hypes you up in his weakened state, disoriented. "You tell em girlie."
"He won't be alone." Barbara flashes you a reassuring smile. "I'll be monitoring him until his parents get here."
"No, no, you don't understand." You argue, inquiring all the doubts you have. "He's gonna try to pull some shit and I'll have to be here to stop him."
"Ease up babe." Childe tries to calm you down, despite the giddiness in his chest at the realization that you want to take care of him.
His subconscious begs him to let you stay, to let himself be doted and cared for the way he's always wanted you to, but he knows he can't let you skip class. Not when you've worked so hard and come so far. "I'll be okay for a few. You can go back to class and then visit me during break."
You bite your lips, head jumbled with all the different possibilities of how shit can hit the fan. "I can't! What if Signora shows up? She'll poison you in this weakened state to get back at me for trying to exorcise her." The hesitation in your features gives away everything.
Childe's eye twitches at the thought of Signora out of all people getting the best out of him, and also the absolute audacity you have to be calling him weak. Clearly all his efforts towards the little shows of dominance (e.g. Shoving Pallad against a locker, spraying a hefty amount of cologne on, being an asshole in general, etc.) have not bore fruit.
"You tried to exorcise her?" Barbara gasps, momentarily reminding the two of you that she's still present.
"Her evil has no bounds." Your expression is hard to read, dead serious. "I do not regret my attempt at cancelling Satan's hell spawn."
Childe himself has been cancelled hundreds of times over the span of highschool because of all his problematic traits (e.g calling Venti a twink) and it is not a pleasant experience.
Though it does give him a sense of comfort, knowing that arrogant bitch Signora is finally getting what's coming to her, even if she is one of his friends.
Serves her right for trying to Pavlov her stupid Chihuahua into biting the closest human being just by the snap of her manicured finger. As if it's persistent yapping and tendency to run in front of cars isn't enough torture to deal with on a daily basis.
Childe's yanked out of his thoughts rather forcefully at the sound of the door opening abruptly, the handle crashing into the wall, shocking Barbara's attempts to reassure you.
He knows who it is because of his top tier gaydar, dreading what's to come.
Scaramouche is a morose son of a bitch with a mean streak that hasn't been broken since he was an itty bitty shit in the fourth grade.
"I can't believe you let yourself get sick!" The navy haired boy exclaims in disbelief, doubling over with tears, clapping his hands to add on some extra effects. "Natural selection finally decided to stop pussy footing around your primate-looking ass."
You press your lips together. "Isn't he supposed to be your best friend?"
Scaramouche sputters violently, using the wall as leverage to hold himself up. "You told her I'm your best friend? Oh fuck. Oh this is good. What else did you tell her huh? That you have a monster cock?"
"First of all, you make me reconsider my opinion on the death penalty, dickhead."
Barbara is mortified. Childe continues on anyways.
"—and I do have a monster cock. But why are you so interested in my monster cock huh?"
Scaramouche scrunches his face up in disgust, amusement nothing but a distant memory. "You don't have a monster cock you plebe."
Childe has an awfully scandalized expression on his face, but smoothly enough it transitions into an unsettling grin that you're all too familiar with. "You didn't deny not being interested in my monster cock though."
It's your turn to be mortified, shaking your head at the banter that goes on back and forth.
"How did you even know he was in here? We aren't even in the same class."
Scaramouche raises a brow as if you're some sort of toddler that's babbling out a mixture of Cheerios and spit, maybe a few digested strawberries here and there. He waves his phone in front of you, "posted it on his story."
"What the—give me that!" You snatch his phone right up, staring at the screen in bewilderment.
There's a video of you doing trick shots with your tech deck on the ledge of a nearby window with a pressed expression while waiting for Barbara to finish up, captioned with: "In the nurses office rn pray for me 🙏, there's this cute girl in front of me should I ask her out?"
You check the poll and ninety five percent say yes. Scaramouche voted no. You have mixed feelings.
Shaking your head, you give Childe, who's unable to sit still, a look of pure exasperation.
Scaramouche claws his phone back from you rather harshly, the bells on his hat jingling, making it hard for you to take him seriously when he sneers your way.
"You should be thankful you're the lover of my comrade." He shivers slightly at the word comrade. "or I would have obliterated you on the spot for that little stunt."
Childe doesn't even pretend to look fazed at the older's threat when he says "as if I'd allow a kumquat headass like you to touch my girl."
You and Barbara hastily jump in to stop the bloodbath that is seconds from happening. "No!"
Luckily, no limbs are teared apart.

Sweet Dreams pt. 1
So, I've had to switch my medication recently for my anxiety, and it's been a bit rough. I normally have a bit of a problem with nightmares because of stress, but since starting Effexor it's been like... on steroids. One of my ways of coping with my mental health is writing, so I've started working on an Obey Me! series of short fics with each of the brothers comforting an MC who's been suffering from long-term night terrors as a medication side-effect. I debated about whether to post them or not, but ultimately I feel like if they can be comforting reads to someone else in a similar situation to mine, of course I'd want to share them! So, here's part one with Lucifer. Please know this is based on my own personal experiences with my anxiety and medications- mental health isn't one-size-fits-all, and everybody experiences it differently on all fronts. Not everybody will experience anxiety the way MC does in these fics, and that's okay! MC is not meant to be representative of everyone everywhere who has ever dealt with having an anxiety disorder- I personally think such a thing is impossible anyway. That being said, please practice good reader discretion if mental health is a hard topic for you- the last thing I want to do is harm someone else's mental health with my writing. I'll post specific trigger warnings just above the cut, so you'll know exactly what you're getting yourself into before you continue!
Now that the long disclaimer is out of the way... I hope that you enjoy this small fic series, reader! It was cathartic for me to write, and I hope they can bring comfort to others too.
Genre: Comfort with Lucifer x gn!reader (if you squint)
Word Count: 2.2k
TW: Mentions of anxiety and treatments, depictions of anxiety and nightmare aftermath, descriptions of nightmares
Lucifer was worried.
Not that he would admit to it. He was the Avatar of Pride, and as such he had an image to maintain. After all, just because someone fails to reply to text messages and calls- or does something out of their norm, like skipping breakfast- it doesn't necessarily mean there's something dire afoot.
Still, he couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong. Lucifer tried to school his facial features into something close to neutral as his brothers fretted and discussed (Y/N)'s radio silence, and now their absence at breakfast. Mammon was the first to make a commotion about it, of course, causing the other brothers to slowly voice their own concerns about the resident human exchange student.
"I'm tellin' ya, it's just not like them! We ough'ta check on them. What if they caught some kind of weird human disease and died in their sleep?!" Mammon boomed out, fists clenched and resting on the table as he leaned forward over his plate.
"I highly doubt that, Mammon. I don't know of any human disease with such a quick onset and short incubation period before death. Still, it is a bit worrying. Should we make sure they're alright?" Satan, ever the voice of reason, spoke calmly, looking to the eldest to gauge his reaction to his question.
"Maybe they had a late start? I did suggest a new morning skincare regimen for them; maybe they've taken my advice?" Asmo practically crooned, no doubt preening at the thought of a small success with the exchange student- and probably thinking other impure thoughts related to them getting ready for the day.
"They need to make sure they eat. It's no good trying to learn on an empty stomach," Beel interjected, shaking his head and settling a hand on his stomach, clearly appalled at the thought of enduring that kind of experience.
Lucifer kneaded the small ache that had started to form between his eyes from his brothers' bickering and rapid-fire speculations. A sharp pain lanced through his skull from said place when Mammon brought his closed fists down on the table forcefully, rattling the dishes and forcefully pushing himself and his chair back.
"That's it, I'm checkin' on 'em! If all you guys are gonna do is sit around-"
"Enough, Mammon," Lucifer spoke, commanding the attention of all his brothers. A pregnant silence fell over the room as the Morningstar sighed, casually tossing his linen napkin onto the table beside his empty plate as he calmly pushed his chair back to stand. "I will check on them myself. The rest of you are to go about your days as normal unless you hear otherwise."
A couple of the brothers muttered angrily under their breath, but most seemed satisfied with the decision. Without another word, Lucifer strode from the room, leaving his brothers to clean up and be on their way to RAD.
When Lucifer reached (Y/N)'s room, his superhuman hearing picked up soft sniffles from within, heightening his concern about the human. He rapped his knuckles against the solid wood of the door, calling out their name gently but at a volume where he knew he would be heard. When he didn't hear them stir, and nobody came to the door, he resolved himself to intruding upon a potentially sensitive situation. "(Y/N), I'm coming in."
When he opened the door and took a couple steps across the threshold, he panicked a bit at first, not seeing any sign of (Y/N) in the room. Another small sniff allayed those fears, though, and he closed the door softly behind him, making his way into the space as he looked for the human. He finally found them curled up into a small ball on the floor in a corner of the room, out of sight of the door, their face pressed into their knees as they trembled.
The sight in front of him broke Lucifer's heart. (Y/N) had brought such brightness to his and his brothers' lives, showing them the utmost care and showering them with love they hadn't realized they were starved for. To see them like this- shaking with pent-up sobs and white knuckles as they squeezed their hands into fists- was a blow directly to the eldest's normally ice-cold heart.
"(Y/N)," he breathed, slowly approaching as if he was walking towards a frightened, injured fawn. His entire presence softened as he got down on one knee beside the upset exchange student, fighting the overwhelming urge to gently turn their face to his or pull them into his arms. "What's happened?"
(Y/N) shook their head, their arms tightening around their knees. "It's stupid. I'll be fine. Please don't worry about me- I'll be down for breakfast soon."
Lucifer's face pulled down into an even deeper frown at their words, bothered that they were so quick to invalidate themself and push comfort away. "Well- that's why I'm here. Breakfast was over an hour ago, and my brothers are worried about you."
(Y/N)'s head shot up at that, and for the first time Lucifer got a good look at their flushed, tear-stained face. "God- I'm so, so sorry, I didn't mean to worry anybody- I'm such a burden-"
Lucifer made hushing noises, and unable to restrain himself anymore he sat fully on the ground, pulling the human into his arms as they hiccupped and began to sob. When they didn't push him away and began leaning into him, he tightened his hold, rubbing small circles into their lower back as their tears soaked his left shoulder, all the while murmuring soothing words in their ear. After what seemed like a small slice of eternity, but what in reality may have only been fifteen minutes or half of an hour, the exchange student's tears slowed, then stopped altogether, though silent sobs continued to wrack their smaller frame.
Lucifer lifted his head from where he had rested it on top of theirs, leaning back slightly to see their face as he gently tilted it towards him. Red eyes looked back at him, glazed with exhaustion and something else he couldn't quite pinpoint. Reaching up with a gloved hand, he gently cupped their face in the palm of his hand, wiping away the tears he could reach with his thumb.
"You aren't a burden, (Y/N). You go out of your way for myself and my brothers, doing things nobody asked of you to lift us up and make our lives easier. We've needed somebody like you for a long time now, and if anything we are a burden on you. We worry about you because we care." Lucifer broke the silence, his voice gentle but leaving no room for argument. "I won't push you into telling me what's wrong... but if you would like to talk about it, I promise I will do everything in my power to make things right."
Their eyes wavered, then shifted to the side, a frown continuing to mar their beautiful face. "Lu, I... it means a lot to me for you to say something like that. I just... I don't think there is anything you can do, or anybody for that matter, and not for lack of wanting to."
(Y/N) paused for breath, and Lucifer waited, sensing their internal debate about disclosing their struggle to him. Finally, they sighed, sagging against him as if all the strength had just left their body. "You saw my file," they said flatly, their head against his chest. Lucifer tightened his hold around them once again, pressing his face to the crown of their head and making a small sound of affirmation.
"Did it say anything about my anxiety disorder?"
Lucifer paused. Yes, he had noted that there was a mental health condition in their profile- generalized anxiety, with therapist notes stating it had a strong social skew- but it had never come up in conversation with (Y/N) before, and with how bright and happy they usually were, he thought they might be in remission- either that, or managing it extremely well.
(Y/N) continued on before he could answer them. "Barbatos has been making sure I have my medication- which is great, since of all the SSRIs I've tried it's the only one that seems to help level me out. But, the bad thing is... my doctor didn't tell me that a lot of people experience nightmares while on it, and ever since I've started it, it seems like I'm having them almost every single night." They paused for breath, their entire body tensing up, and Lucifer began to soothingly stroke their bicep with his thumb, where his hand had settled after they shifted. "Most of the time they're really vivid and... weird? Like, I had a nightmare a few nights ago that I was leading an expedition into the far North back in the human realm, and just as we were about to reach an Inuit settlement I got lured over the side of the boat by sea monsters and drowned... which has absolutely no relevance to my life experience. Obviously. But in the moment they're so scary-" They shuddered, then continued, almost as if they couldn't stop themself now that they had started speaking. "And then other times they're those really vague ones- like, running away from something through a deep forest at night, and suddenly you're falling off a cliff. But then there's, like, maybe 25% of them that actually are relevant to me- some of the worst periods and moments of my life- and those-" They almost choked on their words at the end, and Lucifer squeezed gently, worried they might start crying again.
When they stayed silent, Lucifer spoke. "How long has this been going on?"
There was a pause before the human answered, as if they knew he wouldn't be happy. "Since before I was brought here."
Lucifer was shocked. The exchange student had been here for several months already, and he was only just now hearing about this? Another pang lanced through his heart, wondering how many other mornings they had spent like this, and he deeply regretted the thought of them spending so many nights tortured by their own mind, all alone.
"You should have come to me sooner, (Y/N). You didn't have to suffer in silence." Lucifer's tone softened the words, and he again leaned back to get a look at the expression on the exchange student's face.
"I didn't want to be- troublesome. All your brothers have their own commitments and things they do, and you especially have so much on your plate. I didn't want to disrespect anybody's time."
Just when Lucifer thought things couldn't get worse, they did. He could hear their fear of being a burden, even with their carefully chosen words. The exchange student had put themself through months of agony, all because they hadn't wanted to trouble him. The revelation deeply disturbed him. A handful of months was nothing in a demon's life, just a blip, but for a human? That was a very long time.
"You are incredibly important, to all of us. Your struggles are never a waste of our time, even if you feel they're insignificant." Lucifer spoke firmly, trying to put every ounce of the conviction he felt into his voice. He reached up again to gently turn the human's face towards him, meeting their eyes with his own crimson ones. "Please, don't put yourself through something like this again. If I can bring even a small amount of the comfort you've brought me back to you, I would move the heavens to do it. Promise me."
Their eyes glimmered, and their bottom lip trembled. "I promise," they almost whispered, their voice choked up.
Lucifer impulsively brought his face closer to theirs, softly placing a chaste kiss on their forehead. The exchange student sniffled, bringing their hands up to wipe at their face.
"I will talk to Solomon and Satan about any potions they might know of to combat your nightmares. In the meantime, please come find me in the event that they wake you up in the middle of the night. I'm no stranger to night terrors."
When they acquiesced, he smiled, satisfied. "Now, get dressed. I'm informing Lord Diavolo that we're taking a personal day off- no buts." He spoke, already seeing the protest in their eyes and on their lips, which had parted on the start of a word. "We'll do whatever you want. My treat."
Their brows furrowed. "Won't you get in trouble?"
Lucifer stood, bringing (Y/N) up with him. "Not if I'm doing it for the exchange student's benefit. I'll give you ten minutes while I make the call." The softness the Morningstar had displayed was now gone, replaced with his usual composure as he began walking towards the door, fishing his D.D.D. out of his pocket as he moved.
"Lu?"
He paused at the door, turning back to look at the human. Their eyes were glimmering in the dim light of the room, arms wrapped around their waist. Lucifer thought they were about to cry again until he recognized the sheer gratitude in their expression.
"Thank you, for this- and for everything."
Lucifer showed a soft smile, just for them. "Anything for you, (Y/N)."

It’s Simply a Henderson Thing-Chapter 3
(Moving along, we are at episode 3 now. For most of season one our reader will be tied with Nancy’s storyline but we will deviate a bit later on. You can get caught up on my page)
The odd feeling didn’t subside like you had hoped. It persisted through most of the morning at school. It proved hard to concentrate on much of anything besides lesson planning for the cheerleading sophomore you tutored. It had you a little on edge, to be honest. You weren’t sure what was wrong.
“Have you…seen Barb?” Nancy asked, approaching your locker just before the end of lunch period. You had assumed Barb would be with Nancy. After all, Barb was supposed to fill you in on what happened at the party.
“No, is something wrong?” You knew something was wrong. Maybe it had to do with how you’d been feeling since the previous night.
“She’s not here.” She sounded incredibly worried.
“What do you mean? Wasn’t she with you last night?” You asked her.”Is she home?”
“I-I don’t know…”
“Well didn’t you and her go to Steve’s last night?”
“She’s not…I…I don’t-“ Nancy stammered.
“Nance!” That snapped her out of her panicked state.”Calm down, take a breath and then tell me what happened.”
You placed a hand on her shoulder.
She took a few breathes, closing her eyes.
“Right. We went to the party and there was this like drinking game. I uh…Barb cut her hand and went to dress it. I fell in the pool and needed to…went to change. I went upstairs…Barb said she was heading home…I told her to go home.”
“And then?”
She looked up at you, eyes a little frightened
“Nancy, and then?” You urged.
“She didn’t want me to go. I ignored her, I went into Steve’s bedroom…”
You knew exactly what she meant just by her tone. She had definitely lost her virginity to him. And you knew how Barb would’ve felt about that. She would’ve been supportive, of course, but also heartbroken. You knew of Barb’s secret crush on Nancy, so maybe Barb just ran off because of the jealousy.
“Hey look, I’m sure Barb is just upset but she will show up. Besides, you’re not a virgin anymore, she should be celebrating with you.”
She made a face, you weren’t sure you’d seen it before.
“Or consoling you?” You arched a brow, her worried face had morphed into one of some kind of…regret or disgust.
“Nance…are you okay? Did he…was he…” you tried to approach it delicately.
“No, no. It was…nice. But I feel bad about Barb…I’m really worried Y/N. I thought maybe…I don’t know maybe I heard something.”
“If it helps we can look for her after school, yeah?” You offered, set on finding your mutual friend.
She nodded.”Yeah, yeah that’d help. I’ll skip the game…”
You gave her a soft smile.
“You should probably get to history, Munson won’t appreciate his classmate being late.” She lightly jested.
You laughed.”As if he’s ever there.”
She sort of chuckled back and waved you away.
———————————————————————
Nancy handed you a photo before she grabbed the bike helmet offered to her.
“What’s this?” You asked, scanning the photo in your hand.
“This was the last place she was seen. And I called her house, she hadn’t been there since yesterday after school.”
The picture was definitely the of Barb sitting on the edge of Steve’s pool.
“Who took this-“
“Jonathan. I’ll tell you about it later.” She cut you off.”But at least we have a place to start.”
There was something she wasn’t telling you, you knew it. She always got this look on her face when she withheld information.
“Hop on then.” You motioned, dropping the subject.”What did you tell Steve?”
“I…I lied, said that you really needed my help today.”
“That’s fine, you know I’m always down to be your alibi.”
She got on, hanging onto your waist.
You drove close to Steve’s house and saw Barbs car a few blocks away.
“She was parked there last night, we walked.” She explained.
You stopped so Nancy could look inside for any kind of clue. She searched around it for a bit but it seemed unchanged since the previous evening.
“Anything?” You asked.
She turned to you and shook her head.
“Barb?” She called out, looking around.”Barb!”
There was no response.
“Let’s get back to the pool, see if that leads anywhere.” It was a suggestion, hopefully one that proved fruitful.
She agreed and got back on the bike.
You parked the bike behind Steve’s place and headed into the pool area with Nancy.
The backyard was still, silent, and you admitted a little eerie.
“Barb?” She called out again.
“Barb?” You joined, looking for your friend.
Both of you headed down to the wooded area that surrounded the back of Steve’s house. You thought maybe you heard leaves crunching.
“Barb?” Nancy continued to call.
It was still awfully quiet in the woods.
After no response you could hear some rustling in the trees.
Thinking it was Barb, you shared a look with Nancy before carefully stepping close to the source of the noise.
Suddenly something crossed your path, it was too fast to see but it was freaky.
Nancy gasped and fell over, you nearly ripped her off the ground and urged her to run.
When you were on your bike and headed away, you yelled.
“What the hell was that thing!?”
“I don’t know!” She yelled back.
Whatever it was, you were freaked.
“I think I need to tell someone about Barb. Take me home?” She asked.
“Yeah. Yeah I think you should.”You agreed.
It was time to get someone on it. Because Barb vanished just as quickly as Will had.
You were stopped by her house, letting her off.
“Call me if you need anything, okay? I’m just a short ride away.”
She nodded, a few tears falling.
“We’ll get someone on it.” You assured her, wrapping your arms around her softly.
“Yeah…” she said, holding you before heading inside.
You waited for a moment, silently wishing courage for your best friend.
———————————————————————
Dustin came home late. He hadn’t been at the wheelers when you dropped Nancy off, so your mom had worried. He had you worried too. Despite him being a punk most of the time, you loved your kid brother.
“And just where have you been, mister?” You put your hands on your hips, a bit teasingly at him.
But he didn’t respond, which was odd. Usually he had some funny retort or comeback ready.
It was only when he came closer that you noticed the silent tears streaming down his face.
“Dusty?” You asked, suddenly more worried.
“It’s…Will.” He choked out.
Oh god.
He rushed to hug you, arms tight around your middle as he cried into your shirt.
“He didn’t make it.” You could distinguish between the sobs.
You held him and rubbed his back soothingly. “Oh dusty…”
One of his best friends, just gone. Now you were nearly in the same situation.
Your heart broke for Dustin, you hated seeing him in pain.
“What happened?” Your mom came out from her room.
“Will.” You mouthed to her while he continued crying.
She put her hand over her mouth, covering a gasp.
You nodded mournfully.
Dustin got a little heavy, probably exhausted from the events of the last few days.
You slowly and carefully picked your brother up and carried him to his room.
You tucked him into bed, but got in beside him to try and offer more comfort.
He cried more, holding onto you.
You soothed him as best as you could, but he cried himself to sleep within an hour.
You stayed with him as he slept, not knowing what else to do for him.
