Hello, Pile 01, and welcome to your reading. Please remember that a “blessing” can be anything that protects us, makes us happy, or points us in the right direction. With the 5 of cups, it feels like for the longest time you were struggling in your career. This does not necessarily mean that there was no progress, but it was not emotionally fulfilling for you. This could also talk about a lack-mindset in terms of your career, i.e., not feeling worthy of it or not seeing a future with it. Some of you might feel like an imposter in your current position. Yes, you are wearing the title, but you do not feel like you deserve it. This is where your blessing is happening. It's going to address your hustling mentality and your superficiality in your career. It feels like you might have given more than you were able to, pouring from an empty cup just to feel like you deserve to be where you are. Whatever you were doing, it's unsustainable. I feel like you were once very passionate about your current career but fell out of love with it because you were overworking yourself too much, nearly burning out. What I see coming towards you is something that most would consider extremely lucky, as we have the ladybug in the imagery of this card. 10's in tarot talk about an excess of energy; in this case, it's positive energy. Something significant will happen that will indicate the end of one cycle and ring in a new one of abundance and emotional fulfillment. You will experience a lot of success in your career, which will bring you lots of abundance. There is a sense of alignment and harmony. This most likely refers to your mindset. I feel like you are going to check yourself, and seek out an environment that fulfills you. Implementing the changes that need to be made to end this cycle of adversity and struggle. This is truly a positive spread, especially with the devil reversed ending this. You will step into self-empowerment. There is a sense of breaking free from things (be they people, situations, or mindsets) that held you prisoner. I see you freeing yourself from this hustling mindset and stepping into a deeper understanding of your wants and needs. It feels like you will pay attention to more than your salary in whatever you are doing next. You won't just be swayed by a fancy title and a big paycheck; you are digging deeper; you are looking for and finding something that is truly fulfilling. You might even be withdrawing from it in one way or another. I heard "quiet quitting" while writing this. Whatever the current situation at your work is, it's far from ideal. It feels like you are holding back anger too. This is a very specific thing I see, but I feel like some of you might have felt betrayed. You are not showing it, but you are also not ignoring whatever has happened and led to your feeling of turmoil. You are actively taking away your effort to balance the scales quietly. Again, this might apply to just a handful of you, but the King of Cups, as our bottom deck, is looking upset and vindictive. The good news is that you are taking charge, my dear pile 02. Your blessing is that you take authority over this situation and maneuver whatever has happened that led to you withdrawing from your career into a success story for yourself. So Jason Statham's oeuvre* tends to be what I call "airplane movies". The ones you watch because you're half brain-dead from sitting in a giant tin can for multiple hours. I have fond memories of watching The Transporter on a flight back from the Netherlands. (Unfortunately I was not on a plane when I watched Hobbes and Shaw, which is very bad.)

There is a new movie of his called The Beekeeper.

I legit could not stop laughing. Not just because this is the most ridiculous thing ever, but because I thought the title was referring to some sort of AU**.

Beekeeping is a very pastoral sort of occupation, cottagecore without the fascism. Less physically taxing than farming (even a hobby farm is a lot of work). It's caretaking but not in a way that's associated with femininity even though the most important bees are female. (Do worker bees really have a sex? They don't reproduce.)

Anyways. I need to get high off my ass and watch this because it looks entertainingly terrible.

So Venus as a Boy is Voldemort and Bellatrix in a Voldemort Wins scenario playing with one bisexual fawn Harry Potter who is flustered and angry and horny about his new evil Daddy and Mommy. It's not incest but they wish it were. Here it is:

3. Least favorite canon thing about this character?

Already this isn't fair, because you know me, you know my blog title, you know my beliefs. ...The entire episode of "Hanky Panky" though. I hate that he cheated on Peg (while still recognizing the significance of it to his character arc, and the archetype he fulfills). It was a hard fall when I got to that episode for the first time. I was rooting for him, we were all rooting for him. And the fact the date the episode released on is so close to my birthday- it felt like a targeted attack.

There are maybe other things..... won't share them here though, y'all stay safe.

20. Which other character is the ideal best friend for this character, the amount of screentime they share doesn't matter?

Assuming I'm meant to answer other than Hawkeye since they're canonically best friends, I really would have liked to see his and Klinger's friendship expand more. I love the banter they have, they seem to get along great, and even if Klinger isn't a dad in the show I feel like he has dad energy and I feel like they'd be really stoked to show each other pictures of their kids in the future and be excited for one another and the milestones their kids reach. I'll stop myself before I go too far off on the deep end with headcanons, but I think their dynamic is often fun and sweet and would love to see it explored more.

22. If you're a fic reader, what's something you like in fics when it comes to this character? Something you don't like?

To be so real with you, I've not read enough fics to have a good answer for this- like down to details. I guess my thing is knowing that BJ is a very complex characters with multiple layers- I feel like I'd get annoyed if I read a fic that took a very fanon approach to BJ and made him like a malicious liar type, which I don't think he is at all. Or if he was boiled down to jealousy or anger issues. That said, I love reading a fic where someone can nail his sense of humor or puns.

Hawkeye Pierce

1. Why do you like or dislike this character?

Why DO I like him, honestly??? I'm rewatching the show from the beginning rn and god.... I landed on this guy??? Echoing your answer when I asked you, he's definitely very complex and I am always learning new things about him/ coming to a different understanding in my interpretation of him. I really appreciate his character arc and what Alan Alda did with his character; I appreciate his views on him as well. I'm also drawn to characters where just about everything happens to them, and god Hawkeye might have pioneered that trope /hj

I'd also argue that I like Hawkeye so much because he's so much unlike the majority of my favorite characters previously. Traditionally, I've been more drawn to serious, academic characters, or charming and romantic, or softer and gentler, or even clean-cut types, and Hawkeye is.... different, to say the least. Not to say he's not capable of some of those qualities... sometimes, but he's... just vastly different than say Aramis, Enjolras, Riza Hawkeye, Peggy Carter, Philippe (mitim), and so on, and so on...

2. Favorite canon thing about this character?

Hah.... This is also hard.

I like how imperfect he is. I would personally think of him as a good person (I say while wincing a bit), but I think more accurately he is a person who is trying to do his job to the best of his ability in one of the worst possible circumstances. And he tries to help people who are being mistreated along with it, and while standing up against idiocy and injustice, and being firm in his pacifism.

Despite that, he's sleazy, disrespectful, sometimes outright mean, and overall probably not someone I would want to be close friends with in real life. (At least, not at where he is in my current re-watching of the show.) He's not a 'saint in surgical garb'; he's a person. A very flawed person. And I like that. I like him. 6. What's something you have in common with this character?

I don't think I can answer this without getting too deep with it. Let's just say I like to think I'm funny sometimes.

12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?

I know none of these are new to you Shan, but you'll hear them again!!!

-I think one of Hawkeye's favorite ice cream flavors is Rum Raisin. I think he also likes splitting a banana split with someone else (as a kid- with either of his parents, does it on dates sometimes, etc)

-I'm purposefully twisting a line given in the show about him having a 'pet' stuffed owl, and saying he had a stuffed owl toy as a kid named Hooty.

-I think his favorite color is red.

-I have a very important headcanon to myself that after his mom passed away, he was given a lot of extra care and love by the moms of a few of his friends in Crabapple Cove. One would send along an extra packed lunch with their kid to make sure Hawkeye had something to eat at school. Another stopping him to fix where his hair looked a mess and straighten his shirt for him. And so, so many hugs and endearments. None of this was done because they thought that Daniel Pierce was neglectful or couldn't take care of Hawkeye, but because Daniel was grieving as well and they wanted to help where they could and ease some of the load off Daniel's shoulders with not only him becoming Hawkeye's sole guardian, but also while still being the towns doctor as well- while he's trying to pick up the pieces and get back on his feet.

I like to think even as an adult when Hawkeye sees one of his friends mom's who had helped taken care of him, he still runs up to them and gives them a big hug. :,)

24. What other character from another fandom of yours that reminds you of them?

Hehe, there's the rub because I don't know if I have one. Mayyyybe Grantaire since I have Les Mis on the mind today, but not reallyyyyy. No offense to Grantaire but Hawkeye is a lot more competent and cares a lot more about things. But drunk, comical, not straight, in love with a blond- that checks out.

Disclaimer: This isn't a full review on HTTYD 2 the movie.

Once again, Hiccup floating in the air, gliding through the skies on Toothless, seamlessly flying on invisible currents is cathartic. I just wish I could breathe air that clear and fresh. I wonder if some time away from everything will make it easier to make tough decisions.

So far, I don't think I address the question on whether Hiccup wants to be chief. My reviews on Riders of Berk refer to the village's changing perspective of Hiccup and them taking to him as leader. I don't think I've discussed whether Hiccup wants the job. Besides, that question isn't material at the time and space ROB was just yet. Hiccup was still, a kid.

In HTTYD 2, we know he doesn't want to be chief because he still feels lost. Incomplete. His thirst for adventure continues and he will harken to anything calling his name (apart from his dad). But Astrid's advice rings true. He has had so many missions, adventures, discoveries in ROB, DOB and RTTE but they did not quench or answer the inner call to "Who am I?"

Even for us, sometimes wanderlust is just a distractions to the grand scheme of responsibilities we are suppose to take on to answer the question we keep asking.

Believing that being chief isn't innately him, is the very doubt that causes him to discount how much of a born leader he is.

"I was so afraid of becoming my dad, mostly because I never thought I could. How, how do you be someone that great, that brave, that selfless? I guess, you can only try," Hiccup says at his father's funeral.

Self-doubt is the thief of destiny. As such, even after his father's passing, Hiccup struggled to step into the role, to feel worthy of it, until Valka said that his father always knew he was going to be great.

"He always said you would become the strongest of them all and he was right. You have the heart of a chief and the soul of a dragon only you can bring our worlds together. That is who you are, son."

A CHIEF PROTECTS HIS OWN

You see. This may sound like news to Hiccup, but for those who have been following his story, he has always been brave and selfless. He protected Berk and his riders, diving to their rescue even at the expense of precious treasures.

Even to the extent of protecting day-to-day relationships. Like what he did for Snotlout at Thawfest, the encouragement he brings to Fishlegs, the validation he gives the Twins. Training dragons to live w Berkians. Defending Berkians. Saving anyone that needs saving. Helping anyone that needs help. Without question or quandary.

He thought that the answer to Who am I was out there, but it was in him all along. And when you are this blind to all your attributes, the only way to answer the all-asking question is by stepping out of your comfort zone.

He has always protected his own. It started w his undying loyalty to Toothless, protecting him from day one.

I hate that Stoick's death had to happen, but it was that drastic nudge forcing Hiccup into the shoes he was always meant to fill.

Parts of me feel like I understand Hiccup, 15-year-old Hiccup and 20-year-old Hiccup because I AM HICCUP. Sure, I don't have a village to run and no legacy to fulfil, but boy am I afraid to do something because I don't think I can.

This show just speaks to me because I hear that same internal struggle tugging at my heart. Where do I fit in this world of very definable squares?

But maybe that's the answer I need to hear. That to find it, I have to go towards it. And to believe, that "this destiny" was mine all along.

congratulations to AREUM for joining fabula! starting from APRIL 8, AREUM will be moving to the FABULA DORMS. AREUM will be taking ROOM A and become roommates with HAYOUNG. the information will be updated on the room arrangements tab on the master sheet whenever the admod team gets a chance.

since there will be a short period of time for AREUM to prepare for the comeback, she will be requested ( but not required ) to work on SINGING during the Q2 term.

“as you may have heard, BLAZING’s WOOHEE is having a comeback later this month. since the featured artist in the song will not be able to make it during the live performances, both WOOHEE and her team have selected HAYOUNG to be taking over the artist’s place.” EUNSOOK smiles proudly at HAYOUNG after revealing the news.

WOOHEE will be coming back with the song “RA TA TA” starting APRIL 19. since lil cherry will not be present in the live performances, HAYOUNG will be replacing her during the music show promotions.

EUNSOOK eyed SORI and after a deliberate pause, she revealed, “since you were working on dancing quite a bit and have good technicality when it comes to it, other aspects of your performance-based skills fell short especially PERFORMANCE. this meant that you lacked charisma and with these girls already charismatic as is, it’s going to be harder to even shine, let alone get any solo parts for yourself. which brings the question…what will you contribute to the group? your parts are already few, but the producing team felt that it was justified seeing that you aren’t a great singer and there are already few rap parts in this comeback as is.” sighing to herself, EUNSOOK added, “i may be hard on you for this, SORI, but you have an even shorter amount of time to prove that the company’s decision to have you in this group isn’t something that they regret doing. do your part and help the team for their JUNE comeback.”

as a gift for the fans, the FABULA members will take part in creating a photobook just for them! since this will be released sometime around Q2 or Q3, the company has suggested for all of the members to start preparing on the creation and photoshoots for it in the midst of their comeback preparations.

around MAY 18, all of the girls will be doing a summer inspired shoot. due to schedules, SORI, HAYOUNG, AREUM, and NINA will be flying to PATTHAYA CITY, THAILAND first and be staying there for one week. three days later, EUNHYE and MINJI will be joining the rest of the girls.

during the THREE DAYS, the four FABULA members will be filming behind the scenes content and do parts of their solo and duo photoshoots. whenever they are not taking pictures for the photobook they will be practicing in one of the studio rooms that the company has rented for their comeback. once EUNHYE and MINJI arrive, they will finish off the solo and duo photoshoots on the first day they arrive. the remaining days will be photos taken of FABULA during their private tour around PATTHAYA CITY ( eg. visiting local landmarks, taking a cooking class on thai cuisine, meeting elephants, etc. ) and additional interviews that are added to the photobook and its promotions. for the tour, the girls will also be asked to vlog the whole experience and will be released at a later time.

Baazigar: The End !!

Before starting up with this blog, let me give you guys a quick recap of the previous blog.

So the last blog was about how  brutally lost in a declamation competition. If you haven't read it already, then please go through it once for some context of this blog.

Okay so, if you're born in India and have grown up watching Bollywood movies, then there's a 95%chance that you wish to be a popular Bollywood actor atleast once and I guess it's pretty evident from my blogs that I am a huge admirer of Bollywood and Hindi cinema. I do have that wish to become an actor and working in a movie with my favourite actor as my co-star and want my favourite singer to sing the movie's title track, but these are all mere wishes that aren't gonna happen irl .

Since I was in 5th grade or something , every year there was this ‘‘roleplay’’ activity and I was so fond of writing about my own stories and characters that I always ended up directing the play with the role of the story's narrator. Yeah, I never got to act in my own play (except this one time when I wrote a story on robots and no one in my group wanted to be a robot).

Anyways back to the story, last  academic session there was an English skit competition for both 9th and 10th graders, but apparently, 10th graders weren't auditioned because of their 'upcoming exams' . But no one really cared about 10th graders working at the backend, so when I got to know about the play, I wanted to be a part of it somehow, so about a week before the competition, my 'wish' got fulfilled and I was assigned the task of preparing the ppt for our skit.  I prepared a short ppt based on all the briefs I had (which was almost nothing ).

I remember there was a day off before the competition. (Let the competition be on Monday and the story continues from Saturday), I went to help the props team and then went on with the skit members to see the timings and everything associated with running the new ppt (the ppt I made didn't look that appealing to the teacher but fun fact that she ended up using my original ppt for the competition).

There I saw one of my juniors talking to the teacher so I went there and I got to know that one of the main leads of our play had quit the show at the very last moment!! So she(my junior) was there to give the audition. She spoke some lines from our play, which was an adaptation of the very famous play by Shakespeare, “The Tragedy of Julius Caesar ”, but the teacher didn't quite like her audition and asked her to do it one more time, so I tried to help her by demonstrating her how to say those lines and dunno why my teacher suddenly went like , “Haan, aap accha bool rhe ho, Anushka why don't you only do it!?” and I was like blank for a second and then she went on again but I tried to refuse coz of the stage phobia after the declamation and the other reason was that my parents won't allow me for any others activity now coz “ BoArD eXaMsS” then other play members, my senior and another teacher went on convincing me and I couldn't refuse them all so I agreed but I didn't know that I have to stay back in school till 4pm for practice!!!!

When my teacher told me this, the only thing in my head was “Gayii aaj toh..." Coz who will convince my dad now!! I went to this teacher who is pretty close to me and we don't share that formal teacher -student relationship and told her my story she knew my parents too and when I asked her to inform my parents coz I didn't have the guts to do so..even she was like “Yeh mere baski nahi bhaiya(my dad) tughe bhi daatenge aur mughe bhi!”(haan, mere papa ke gusse se school wale bhi darte hai!!) But someone had to inform so she ringed my parents and was lucky enough, as my mom picked the phone instead of my dad.

I prepared for the competition somehow and initially I was given only 3-4 lines, coz that's how much you can trust a newbie at the last moment, but then during the stay back there was a student whose role was given to me and he was given the role of the main lead, who left the play as he knew more about the storyline and all. He almost cried on stage and asked the teacher to exchange the roles again coz he wasn't sure about that new role and was more comfortable doing his previous role, so she looked at me and was like, “Anushka batao ab , aap krloge iska role? ” at that moment I felt like everyone's staring itno my soul and if I refuse at this point then they'll kill me and the title would become “The Tragedy of Anushka Garg ” so I agreed again .

I was  doing the role of Mark Antony now and if you know the play, then you might know that there's this huge monologue kinda dialogue that Mark Antony speaks after the death of his idol, Julius Caesar.

Once again, I was in a situation where I was not prepared at the last moment. The thought of the Declamation incident haunted me and I repeatedly practiced my monologue. Even on the day of the competition, I would ask all the members of my team to hear my monologue separately and look at my expressions and everything. I even arranged for some fake tears , fake blood to make the scene more realistic.

The competition day was very chaotic. We were the first ones to go on the stage and as soon as we started, we got to know that no one did the technical check at the auditorium, so all the audio attached to the ppt as background sound, which was the main attraction of our didn't  play and even the ppt got stuck multiple times , my roman headband got tangled up with the mic wire and I was literally pushed onto stage and couldn't even untangle or get the fake blood ready I started up my dialogue and then the play ended . All of us, as soon as we got off the stage, knew the results. The results were announced and out of the four teams, we came last (as expected) and we had even hoped for the first or second position tbh the only rank we hoped for was the third rank, i.e. we wished to come second last!

But that day, I didn't feel that bad after losing because we already knew that we weren't the best and I was happy that no one got stuck with their dialogues, and we completed the play although it was not as we expected due to the technical issues, but each one of us gave their best performance and no one could even really control the technical aspects.

That day taught me that one must win from one's own self and must not really bother about what others think about us, as they don't know what they have been going through.

Summing up my competition experiences through a poster :-

I cannot take credit for the idea of teaching Grogu Tusken Sign Language. The inspiration came from this post and I just love it so much it’s becoming canon in this universe.

I Think of You Series Masterlist

So the kid is great - cute, energetic, curious, kind (when he’s not too cranky), sassy (which brings much joy to your day, especially when it’s directed at Mando), and all-around better company than most children you’ve met.

He’s got some quirks too, many of which you learn on the fly. First of all being his age.

“He’s fifty?” you say when Mando brings it up, the child sitting on the floor of the Crest and looking up at you with unconcerned eyes. Mando chuckles at the incredulity in your voice as you crouch down to look your favorite gremlin in the face. “I guess I can kinda see it, what with the white hair and all. You do look like a little old man.” The child coos curiously as you stick your tongue out at him. That always gets a giggle.

“His kind ages differently. At least I assume they do,” Mando says.

“Well now there’s no question as to who had seniority on the ship,” you say in a sing-song voice, sitting down on the floor with a thump. Mando’s head whips around as you wink at him.

“How do you know I’m not older than fifty?” he says back, an edge of teasing eked out through the vocoder.

(he’s surprisingly funny when he gets the chance)

“Oh Maker, you’re right, better compare birthdays,” you huff out, this playful ribbing growing since you’d found a place in each other’s lives. It makes the child brighten, watching you enjoy each other’s company.

Then there’s the wizard magic that scared the shit out of you one day. You were prepping some fish stew in the ration-storage-now-kitchen, stirring the pot on the nanowave stove mindlessly. A clang echoed in your ears, followed by a baby wail that made you abandon the soup and rush to the hold.

Upon inspection, you found the child looking into an open electrical panel on the wall, ears drooping in a forlorn manner. You peered over his head, but nothing seemed out of the ordinary.

“What’s wrong Bean?” you asked, putting a hand on his back. He chirped a couple times and pointed into the space crammed with wires, his face contorting. “Sorry buddy, I’m not sure what’s going on here. Care to suddenly learn Basic? Or Huttese? I know a couple of hand signals in Tusken.” You paused mid-thought at this. Teaching the child Tusken sign language to communicate could be useful. You don’t know a ton, but maybe Mando could get you a book or holovid next time you land.

(then you could learn his name, his past, what he wants and thinks)

(you could talk to him and know he understands)

Wrapped up in your train of thought, you didn’t notice the kid’s face scrunch up, eyes closing as he practically vibrated. When you did see it, worry cracked through your chest.

“Hey Bean, what’s going on?” You tried to snap him out of it but whatever was happening had his full focus. Suddenly something flew out of the panel’s guts and thwapped into his hands, knocking him over and onto your feet.

“Dank farrik!” you swore, grabbing the child and inspecting him all over for damage. On the periphery of earshot the thunks of footsteps approached.

(no no no no no what did the kid do?)

“What happened?” Mando's voice boomed in the space, whipping you around. Hands dropping to the child, he inspected him just as you did.

“I have no idea, he was making a face and shaking and then something…” Your words fell off as you both find a dirty metal nut in his hands, him turning it over with delight, if not a little sleepily. You looked at the child, then at Mando trying to piece together what just happened.

“Kid, that’s…that’s not a toy,” Mando sighed, but didn't attempt to pull it away. He patted the child a couple times before the visor landed on your confused face. “There’s…something you should know about him.”

Only One Top Catboy!

The apron strings were digging into his waist. The skirt barely covered the tops of his thighs, but he’d insisted on wearing opaque leggings underneath so at least he wasn’t flashing anyone everytime he bent over.

He smirked. Not that anyone in the cafe would mind.

The owner had presented him with a pair of ridiculous, huge, fuzzy cat ears at the beginning of his shift. He’d baulked at first, but the softness of the fur brushing against the top of his bald head actually felt nice. Not that he’d tell anyone.

“Letho! Are you paying attention?” Aiden asked, setting the rest of the cups of tea and sandwiches on his tray and frowning up at him.

Letho considered for a moment before shaking his head. “Not really. You were complaining about your boyfriend’s girlfriend again and I tuned it out.”

He picked up the tray and headed back out into the cafe proper before the other man had a chance to formulate a reply. Carefully he maneuvered his way around the tables, smiling politely back at the regulars when they smiled at him. He placed the tray down on one of the round tables decked out in dark red fabric embroidered with tiny gold cats and let his face relax into a proper smile.

"Good afternoon Miss Priscilla, Miss Essi," he rumbled, setting the delicate teacups out in front of the two women. "I trust your day has been good so far?"

On his left, Priscilla laughed lightly. "It's warm and sunny, and we're finally done with uni for another year."

Essi grinned up at him. "Now that we're here it's even better."

It had been weird and not a little unnerving to have so much attention focused on him, but after six months he'd slowly gotten used to it. Now instead of being apprehensive everytime he walked in the front doors, he looked forward to it.

"I'm glad to hear it," he answered, stepping back slightly after removing the rest of the tea service and sandwiches and picking up his tray. "Is there anything else I can do to make your time at Coen's Cat Cafe more pleasant?"

Both women smiled at him, full unabashed smiles with not a hint of guile or fear.

"No no!" Essi replied. "Thank-you, Letho. You're such a gentleman."

Letho smiled back before turning and threading back between the tables, maybe wiggling his hips a little to make the tail attached to his waist twitch back and forth.

So of course he was a little jealous when Coen hired a new guy. Maybe. Just a little.

Gaetan was lithe where Letho was bulky, sleek where he was rippling, cunning where he was implacable.

Letho hated him.

"Why do you keep staring at him like you want to eat him, then?" Aiden drawled, pouring them both cups of tea after they'd finished cleaning up for the evening. It was a proprietary blend of black teas that Coen had gotten made especially for the cafe. Letho liked it because it tasted like a warm Autumn evening. Aiden liked it because the caffeine content was on par with an espresso.

"What? No I don't," he protested. Wrapping one massive hand around the steaming chipped mug, he inhaled the comforting aroma as his brows furrowed downwards, pulling at the scar between them. "He's a nuisance. He flirts too much. Talks too loud. It's like he's hiding something."

"Are you sure you don't want to eat him?" Aiden pressed. He raised one eyebrow in challenge before taking a sip of his too hot tea.

"Never even crossed my mind."

They were silent for several long minutes, each staring into their own mug before Aiden sighed.

"Are you worried he's going to take away your title of top cat boy?" he asked slyly.

Letho choked on his tea.

Vesemir leaned back against the wall of the gym, watching his youngest son wrestle unsuccessfully with the new equipment. He took a long sip from his coffee mug and checked his watch. Nearly 6.30. Still another half an hour before their regulars started to wander in. 

Cursing loud and foul enough to blister paint made him wince. It wasn't as if he hadn't warned Lambert that everything needed to be set up before his shift started. It was his own damn fault that he’d waited until the last minute. 

Vesemir was certain that as the new piece of gym equipment went together, there were possibly several screws missing and some pieces that didn’t seem entirely flush in their mounts. He was contemplating what to tell Lambert when Geralt came sauntering over from the direction of the locker room, taking a swig from his own insulated mug.

They watched Lambert for several minutes as he struggled.

"Is he -?" Geralt started, gesturing with his mug.

"Yup."

"Does he know - "

"Uh-huh."

"Well okay then."

They stood together silently, brows furrowed as they both decided what to do next. It was nearly 6.55 when Eskel came to lean on the wall beside them, crossing his arms over his chest and frowning. 

Something fell off the top of the cross bar and landed with a load clank on the bare concrete floor. 

"Who's turn is it to call OSHA?" Vesemir asked conversationally.

As if on cue, the chime on the front door sounded and they turned in unison to watch Valdo and his clipboard enter the gym.

A Bird in the Hand is Worth a Kick in the Ass

"What we have here is a situation."

"That - that's not even remotely correct."

"What would you call it then?"

"It's more akin to a disaster."

"I think you're exaggerating."

"A situation would be something easily solvable."

"You don't think this is easily solvable?"

Jaskier barely suppressed the urge to scream. "Valdo, my dearest friend." Valdo snorted. "Unless you can somehow miraculously get the king to dismiss the charges, release us from this dungeon, and give us all our clothes back, I can hardly see how this is easily solvable!"

To his credit, the other bard was quiet for nearly five seconds before speaking again. 

"I. Have a plan."

"Oh my gods we're fucking doomed."

"You're such a pessimist." Valdo shifted from where he was sitting on the cold stone floor of the king's dungeon. Jaskier could barely make him out in the gloom, only the light from a couple of smoky, flickering torches set in the wall outside of their shared cell providing any light. He could hear the clank of heavy chains as Valdo moved, but he couldn't see what he was doing. 

After a moment, Valdo made a triumphant little "Ah ha!" sound and a warm golden glow started emanating from the pendant still draped around his neck. 

"What the fuck is that?" Jaskier blurted, leaning forward and squinting to get a better view. The chains binding him to the wall behind him prevented his moving closer to make out much more than the fuzzy outline of the small pendant. But it was definitely glowing, that much he could tell for sure. 

Before Valdo had a chance to answer, there was a bright flash of light and a loud popping sound that made both of them flinch and Jaskier cry out in alarm. 

Into the silence that followed, a familiar voice said, "What the fuck did you do to get yourselves thrown into a dungeon? And why are you both naked?"

"Lambert!" Valdo exclaimed cheerfully. "So good to see you! Don't suppose you could do anything about our current incarceration?" He turned to grin smugly at Jaskier. "I told you I had a plan."

The Witcher - who had definitely not been there a moment ago and was standing on the other side of the bars, outside of their shared cell - eyed them speculatively. Or so Jaskier surmised, he still couldn't see much. 

Before Lambert could answer, another voice broke in. 

"What the fuck is going on here?"

All three of them turned to look towards the far end of the dungeon. Where before they'd thought the other cells were empty, now they could see the enormous outline of another person - person? it looked more like a mountain made flesh than an actual human being, Jaskier mused - was leaning against the bars.

"Arnaghad? What the fuck are you doing here?" Lambert blurted, tromping across the bare stone floor to peer in at the other Witcher.

"Trying to get some sleep, what does it look like?" Arnaghad returned sarcastically. "Are you here to rescue these two idiots from their own incompetence?"

Despite both said idiots' sudden protests, Lambert laughed. 

"Something like that, yeah. You want out, too? Can't see how it's comfortable down here for you either." There was a nervous edge to his voice, like he wasn't quite sure he wanted to free the hulking Witcher.

BLOG Day 2

Title: A Day of Family Discoveries: Grand Reunion in Banao Mt Province

Date: April 27,2024

Location: Banao Mt Province

Weather: Variable, with Rain

Mood: Excited and Grateful

Today was a whirlwind of new experiences and family connections as I attended the Grand Family/Clan Reunion in Banao Mt Province.

I started the day with a sense of anticipation, waking up early to prepare for the event ahead. After taking a refreshing bath, I indulged in my morning skincare routine, wanting to look my best for the reunion.

Once ready, I joined my family for breakfast, eager to fuel up for the day's festivities. With excitement bubbling within me, I got myself ready, ensuring everything was in place for the day ahead.

As we arrived at the reunion venue, I was greeted by a sea of unfamiliar faces, all smiling warmly and eager to welcome me into the fold. Meeting relatives I never knew existed was a surreal experience, and I found myself marveling at the diversity and interconnectedness of our family tree.

Throughout the day, I had the opportunity to mingle with aunts, uncles, and cousins of all ages, forging new bonds and learning more about my family's rich history. It was a joy to see every family member, from the eldest to the youngest, come together to celebrate our shared heritage.

During lunch, I lent a hand in packing and distributing food and drinks, grateful for the chance to contribute to the event's success. As the program continued, I was moved by the heartfelt performances and special numbers presented by family representatives, each one highlighting the talents and unity of our clan.

As the rain poured outside, we took advantage of the opportunity to huddle indoors, using the downtime to deepen our newfound connections and strengthen our familial bonds. It was heartwarming to connect with cousins and uncles who shared my age or even younger, realizing that despite our differences, we were all part of the same loving family.

As the day drew to a close, we bid farewell to our relatives, promising to stay in touch and cherish the memories made. It felt so good coming home there after a long time, surrounded by the beautiful views of nature, fresh air and the comforting embrace of family. Oh how I wish to live in an environment like that in the future. Province Life. Simple yet so peaceful.

Time check: 12:08 am. We just arrived the Baguio City vicinity. Returning home to Baguio late in the evening, I felt a sense of fulfillment and gratitude for the day's experiences. As I lay in bed right now, I reflected on the beauty of family and looked forward to the adventures that awaited us in the days to come.

11: describe your ideal day.

Waking up (without an alarm) at 8 am, wishing my girlfriend good morning with a kiss, washing up. After that, catching up on internet friend stuff until lunchtime around 11 am. After a simple lunch (sandwiches, probably, even in my ideal world X]) I could spend the early afternoon on a single-player game I'm playing though (or maybe watch my girlfriend play something) until I switch to doing something more creative like draw or code until dinner. (probably something more elaborate, like helping my girlfriend make "yuri pasta" (penne rosa) from scratch or my mother's signature "Sanette Spaghetti"). Then me and my girlfriend can play/read something together for the evening (and get to other yuri activities as our uh... mood may dictate)

15: five most influential books over your lifetime.

OOGH I uh... I might have a hard time pulling out five... I better try, though.

"Cat Wishes" (the full title is longer). I mark this as the most impactful because it's what really convinced me that I needed to transition. It's a simple, earnest, wish-fulfillment furry-adjacent light novel that really got me to realize I wanted to be... something else. That "sometimes it's worth asking for what you want," as the book puts it.

"Substitute Familiar" (same author). Same vibe as above, but I read it second so the impact had already been made. Turns out I'm a huge sucker for "transgender person gets her egg cracked wide open before she even knows what's happening."

Book of Mormon (TECHNICALLY***. Also the Bible and stuff). I'm not like... recommending reading it. This list of "books that influenced my life" just wouldn't be complete without the thing that I spend two decades reading almost every day and that shaped my approach to theology and spirituality, even if I've uh... distanced myself somewhat from that group since then. Like, some of my first posts on this blog were talking about "#ldsconf", but now I'm on that "#that is yuri" and "#do that to me" posting era. X]

[Brony Fanfic I think is best left in obscurity] (ask for a link and I'll send it if you really wanna know) I remember it was filled with lots of... hallmarks of bronydom from the time, but it was the first story that was like... that direct about how weird it was to be at a stage of life where my "bOdY iS cHaNgInG" and I'm suddenly interested in girls in a new way but there's all kinds of other baggage that's attached to those feelings? Not the least of which was, at the time, the pressures of masculinity? And everyone around me is really cagey about explaining any of it clearly? It resonated with me so well at the time that I would recommend it to everyone who asked me at the time about my favorite book.

DK Scientific Encyclopedia (I... think that was the title?) I don't know if it really counts as a book for the purposes of this ask, but it's gotta mean something about the kind of kid I was that, when assigned to read something EVERY DAY that my parents had to sign off on, my instinct was "I don't wanna have to pick something new every day or week, so I'll just pick the biggest book my family has" and then actually enjoyed learning about atoms and electricity and analog/digital signals. I think I was 7. I was definitely younger than 10. If that doesn't count then uh... Homestuck. Because Homestuck is just a domino that keeps coming back around to so many big things in my life.

26: how would you describe your gender/sexuality?

Short answer: transfeminine lesbian

More complicated short answer: girl-adjacent nonbinary girl-liker

Kitchen sink answer: I'm like if a girl was also kind of a raccoon who isn't REALLY a robot but likes to think of herself that way to frame her behavior and past. Oh and I wanna live like a yuri light novel.

My "real" (thorough) answer: if we take the mean value of what many people call "girl" in the two-dimensional space formed by the cross of Masculinity and Femininity, my gender lies in a space that projects into low-masculinity, medium femininity, but in fact lies in a higher-dimensional location (as all genders do) that can be found navigating a short distance along orthogonal basis vectors "domestic creature" and "machine". That space that is not quite otherkin but is nonetheless intertwined with the desire to be cared for like a strange pet raccoon but also linked to the symbols of being jailbroken from a dogmatic hivemind of normalized thought patterns and behaviors prescribed as "worthy". (a similar expression can be found using an alternate vector space, feminine x profane x solarpunk). Oh and kissing girls. I just... (gestures widely to the multidimensional space that lies in my own gender neighborhood) really REALLY like girls.

Top 5 Reads of 2023 so Far

As a therapist, I encourage clients to practice self-care in any way that suits them. For some, that looks like carving out time to see friends, getting outside, spending an evening watching movies, or spending time doing hobbies we love. But it can look like anything. No matter what your self-care looks like, it is valid and good. In this blog post, I will share with you one of my favorite forms of self-care.

As many of my clients know, I love to read. Reading has always been a part of my life, but it became a form of self-care in 2020. I was living alone with my family in different states, and I needed an outlet that wasn’t just baking cookies and watching The Princess Diaries for the millionth time. So, I found a bookish community online, picked up my first book in a long time, and never stopped.

I am a romance reader, but I am trying to branch out and read different genres this year. What has helped the most is being a part of a monthly book club and exploring the never-ending recommendation lists of friends, co-workers, and tiktokers. While I will never entirely stray from my beloved romance novels, it has been so much fun to explore and find books I would have never picked up but loved so much. So far this year, I have read 37 books, and in this blog, I will share my top 5 reads with you.

1. Charm by Tracy Wolff Charm is the fifth installment of the Crave Series by Tracy Wolff. This series is so much fun! It is a Young Adult Fantasy series that starts with the book Crave. The series has magic, fantastical characters, and Twilight jokes that will keep you laughing throughout the entire series. I picked up the first book of this series in 2020 and have been following along ever since. Charm is in this line-up because we get to watch two of my favorite Characters go from hating each other to choosing each other in the most unexpected ways.

2. Final Offer by Lauren Asher Final Offer is the third book in the Dreamland Billionaires Series. This series is around three brothers who have the opportunity to earn their inheritance if they fulfill the requirements of their grandfather’s final wishes. Final Offer is about the middle child of the Kane boys, Cal or Callahan, as he hates to be called. I love this story because we get a glimpse of what living with anxiety and alcoholism looks like, and it is told in such a beautiful way. This story is a second chance romance with so much heart and will cause all the happy tears as we watch Cal fight his mental health issues and find his way.

3. The Sex Lives of African Women: Self-Discovery, Freedom, and Healing By Nana Darkoa Sekyiamah You can tell from the title. This book is about the sex lives of African women. I loved every second of this book and the important stories we heard. Nana interviews hundreds of women worldwide to tell their stories and discuss the importance of female sexuality. Nana shares in the book the importance of this narrative because of how whitewashed and male-focused the conversation of sex can be. This is a powerful read that I recommend.

4. The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work: A Practical Guide from the Country’s Foremost Relationship Expert By John Gottman and Nan Silver This book was less for pleasure and more of a read for work, but it still deserves to be up here because it provided great insight and new ways to look at marriage. As a Marriage and Family Therapist, part of the work is staying current with the research and exploring many different therapy models. As an EFT and CBT based therapist, I found that Gottman’s interventions were helpful and valuable for my work. However, this book is not just for therapists; I highly recommend this for any couple wanting a deeper connection with their partner.

5. By a Thread by Lucy Score Lucy Score is an author that I have quickly fallen in love with. I have only read two of her books, but I would love to read her backlog sometime soon. Her book, By a Thread, is about a girl who gets fired from her job because some jerk complained, just for her to land a job at that same jerk’s office! This wonderful grumpy and sunshine office romance kept me giggling and swooning the entire book.
