20 Questions Writer Tag
Thanks for the tag @justafunctionalmess ❤️
I have two AO3 accounts so I'll be taking from both of them.
How many works do you have on AO3? 32 works, not counting two abandoned works that are not associated with me anymore.
What is your total AO3 word count? 76,137 words
What fandoms do you write for? Oof, so many it's such a long list. As for the ones I've posted: Psych, Bones, The X-Files, New Girl, Victorious, Monk, That 70s Show, Supergirl, Schitt's Creek, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the Shadowhunter Chronicles, and two others I'm not gonna mention because they're cringe. I write for at least double what I listed.
What are your top five fics by kudos? Daddy with 343 kudos (Supergirl; I hate it's my most popular fic, purely because of the title), Walter and Nancy with 239 kudos (Victorious), Sparks Fly with 207 kudos (Supergirl), Sleepover with 143 kudos (Schitt's Creek), and Superstar with 127 kudos (Supergirl again).
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? I try to! I get email notifications of comments, so I really see them on there, absolutely cherish them, then forget to reply on AO3. Sometimes I go on to reply to some in batches. I never know what to say in reply, but I'm so grateful to everyone that comments!
What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? The fic with the angstiest ending was Jericho (The X-Files). I've posted like two angsty fics total, and I don't usually write angst.
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? All of my fics end happy so this one was really hard. I guess I'd have to say Cold Blooded Killer because it's not a traditionally happy fic until the end :)
Do you get hate on your fic? Very very rarely, yes. It's only happened three times. The first time I was so upset about it. The second and third times I'm pretty sure it was the same person (guest account commented) so I just deleted it.
Do you write smut? Yes, but I don't post it. I don't write it very often either, very rare.
Do you write crossovers? Nope, not my cup of tea. I don't read them either.
Have you ever had a fic stolen? Probably not. At least not that I'm aware of...
Have you ever had a fic translated? No, but I have had someone record an audio of a fic I wrote. Hands down the coolest experience I've had with my writing so far!!
Have you ever co-written a fic? In a way, yes? If writing letters as characters back and forth with my sister counts.
What's your all-time favorite ship? I don't really have a favorite, BUT I guess I choose Mulder and Scully. Because of how they grew old together (I only watched the monster of the week episodes in the revival, but they were so cute together <3)
What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? My Bones high school AU. I've gotten so far on it, but the path ahead is longer. Also, the Boneheads podcast needs to come out so I can rewatch Bones and start writing it again.
What are your writing strengths? Dialogue, probably. I love character interactions, that's what I live for in writing (and also why I write fic). I want to see characters interacting, not necessarily a cool plot, which is why I emulate that in my own writing.
What are your writing weaknesses? Prose. I just don't like writing it (or reading it for the most part).
Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? I don't know enough about any language to confidently write dialogue for it in my fics. I'd probably get one of my friends who's more fluent in other languages to help me.
First fandom you wrote for? I'm absolutely devastated to share that my first fanfic was for Martha Speaks. I was in second grade and PBS Kids was holding a contest for written stories. Mine ended up over the word limit so I never sent it in.
Favorite fic you've ever written? All of them. Even if the writing isn't as good, it was something I was so proud of at the time, and I can feel that when I read it.
Hmmmm, I'm tagging @bianxiousandcute, @sprqpointintern @that70sshowgoldencouple @thatseventiesbitch @tht70sblog

details from Harry’s memoir Spare that has absolutely blown my mind so far (incomplete because I’m only half way through)
Spoilers for those who want to read the book themselves
after his mother died harry went so far into shock and denial that he convinced himself for several years that she faked her death to start a new life
william and harrys relationship has always been rocky to where william told harry to “pretend to not know me” when they went to school together
harry and william would sometimes argue to the point where they once got into a physical fight in the back of charles’ car and had to be separated (typical brother stuff)
harry grew up being specifically aware since he was little that he was essentially created to be “spare parts” for william aka if william needed a new kidney or platelets or bone marrow harry would have to donate his own
harry smoked weed on the regular and tried cocaine once or twice but didn’t like it
charles and camilla’s team personally endorsed that 17 year old harry was a ~drug addict~ because it made them look better even though being called a drug addict by journalists was extremely traumatic for harry
once the press decided that harry was the “bad sibling” when he was a teenager it was almost impossible to escape that label.
example - one time an art teacher falsely accused him of cheating on an art project and even though this was easily proven false the press still ran with it and the royal family didn't let harry speak out in his own defense which just further endorsed to the press that he was the “bad kid”
harry was extremely traumatized by the press who constantly called him dumb and a failure when he was a teenager
the royal family are extremely disconnected from each other and queen elizabeth never hugged or touched her children unless absolutely necessary
harry talks about diana like she’s a saint and never got to properly grieve over losing her so suddenly
harry lost his virginity behind a pub in a field by an older woman

25/08/2024. Bonjour à tous, I can’t believe that we are hurtling towards the end of August! Where has that month gone? My son had booked his flights out to me towards the end of July and it seemed ages until he was arriving and now it’s just over a week😱. I am so excited, I am like that dog chasing it’s tail 😂.
This week saw 43 years since I passed my driving test 🙈 and I still drive as if I am on the test!
Oyez, oyez, oyez, announcement of the week! “The Trainee Solicitor” is due a name change as with effect from 23 August he has been admitted as a Solicitor. That’s one of your dreams realised now “Mr Solicitor”, it’s great news, 🥳 from a proud mum.
My grandchildren are with “The Photographer” this weekend, being a bank holiday on Monday they will be spending an extra day with him but then he goes back to work on Tuesday and Grandad will be on childminding duties. It’s been a busy week for “The Photographer” as he had a midweek journey to photograph the Scarborough AFC match at Chorley. Last weekend one of his photos was used by BBC Sport so the photos are “getting out there”. As he was leaving work on Friday evening, he was told by a police motorcyclist to wait at the junction and to his surprise heading along the road, flanked by more police motorcyclists was a Mercedes car which he was sure contained “The Queen”. Apparently she made a surprise visit to the Ebor Festival at York Racecourse on the third day (Friday). What a lovely surprise for him to tell his children.
“The Recovery Coordinator” has had “the week from hell!” Everything that could go wrong has gone wrong and as her employment is running short-staffed anyway it has been a nightmare. Fortunately she only has one and a half days at work this coming week then she breaks up for her holidays. I am hoping against hope that this lovely weather we are having continues into the first week of September and that she can enjoy some relaxation in the sun.
“The Jetsetter” has been to Maidenhead, for a friends wedding. I do hope it was a fantastic day and that it was a nice break.
Now it’s back to “The Solicitor” who yesterday lunchtime went out to celebrate his fantastic news with his partner, father, brother, niece and nephew. What a celebration. I do hope there are no “thick heads” this morning.
My “Personal Shopper” has returned from holiday, he has been put to good use since he got back, not only did he do my shopping yesterday, but on Thursday he also pressure washed my patio, gates and the top of the letterbox. He then went to order my prescription from the pharmacy.
Monique celebrates her birthday today and I cannot believe that it is two years since I was sitting in her garden playing with her twin grandchildren who were only 7 months old at the time.
Anie has been down to see me, she brought figs, vine peaches and an apple. I thought she might have to do my shopping for me yesterday, however the Personal Shopper agreed to do it. I was pleased she could have a normal Saturday, visit the market and then on a balmy afternoon she was going to visit her garden.
I was up with the larks yesterday as I wanted to walk to the sunflower field down the road to take some photos for the children. We had a video call and my grandson wanted to see my house so I wandered round showing him around, his sister kept saying, I was in there, and sure enough she had been when Daddy brought her over last year. I think my grandson liked my garden if only because it had an airer like Mummy’s. He liked upstairs best, maybe because downstairs is a “work in orogress”, while I am preparing for the visitors.
I was in Paris on Monday, blimey could that driver make the car move! We were doing 160k/hr on a 130 road 🙈. We got there in good time and would have been home quicker if someone at the hospital had phoned and given the taxi office a departure time. I only needed a platelet transfusion my haemoglobin had increased a bit from the previous Friday.
I was then at Troyes on Friday where the platelets had dropped again but not as low as they had been. The haemoglobin had increased yet again but the doctor said it was probably due to one of the injections I have once a week. He said that is better than requiring a transfusion though. To try and sort out my low blood pressure, dosage of my blood pressure tablet has been reduced by half. I now feel like a new woman!
The cleaner has been again and I am going to type a list of jobs to be done weekly/monthly.
I baked a cake yesterday afternoon I don’t know why but I don’t seem to be enjoying some of these foods at the moment.
When my visitors have gone back home, I am going to sort out lots of stuff for the charity shop, decheterie (tip) and anything which could be useful to some of the refugee places.
I had a package arrive from Worcester which included a tea towel, a penguin pin for a coat or jacket and a small penguin “pebble” to keep in my pocket. The penguins have been around the city, lots of them, large and small, doing “The Waddle”.
Then I received a gift from the Îles d’Oleron which was a bag containing some salt, caramel chip biscuits, puffed rice coated in chocolate and caramel plus a lavender bag which smells divine. I have lots of these in wardrobes, drawers etc.
I read in the local newspaper that the fountain which was due to be installed in front of the Town Hall and up and running by July, had been slowed down due to the discovery of an air raid shelter! This work will now be completed during September. I guess that is when everyone is back from holidays.
I had messaged Nicolas (the gardener) to come and cut the lawn and hedges. He said he would try to come and mow on Friday but I guess he must be a busy man as he never came. As he passes my house on his way home he tends to do my jobs if he has finished jobs early and would otherwise go straight home.
I also messaged the roofer, I had phoned and left a message, sent a text message and then sent an email. With the lack of response I can only assume 🙄 that he is on holiday.
I also messaged the plumber who never responded. I don’t think he is on holiday as I have seen his van in the area. Will ring and speak to him I think next week.
Then, I had put off contacting the man to clean the outside walls of the house as I hate speaking on the phone. Anyway I sent a text, he replied saying he is on holiday but will contact me on Sunday. I guess 50% success rate isn’t too bad.
Although my life is still dictated by the hospital visits, I am happy to be dealing with other things I wanted to do. Having a walk is making me feel much better and not being out of breath or as wary, which I have to be but not to the extent that I am wrapped in cotton wool.
It’s difficult to think up songs that have meant something to me over the years. However, I just remembered this one, it’s Lady Love Me (One More Time) by George Benson which was released in 1983.
I can’t believe I haven’t had a song by this next singer, there are a few which I absolutely love but I have chosen this particular song as it reminds me of holidays, being on the night train from York to Bristol (Temple Meads) then a change onto the train to Penzance in Cornwall. It was in the days when trains had compartments (I loved those trains). It was the first time I had been to Cornwall but it was not to be the last time. My sister was coming up three years old and the only bit of the song she could (nearly) sing was “working all day, all day, all day”. The song is Matthew & Son by (as he was then) Cat Stevens and the year was 1967.
Have a good week until next week.

The PRP Glow-Up: Can Platelet-Rich Plasma Be Your Fountain of Youth in a Vial?
Tumblr media
Forget filtered selfies and Instagram-worthy angles. The latest trend in anti-aging isn't a new app or fancy cream, it's a little vial of your blood plasma. Say hello to the PRP glow-up, where your body's healing potential is harnessed to rejuvenate your skin from within. But is this just another celebrity fad, or a genuine breakthrough in beauty? Let's dive into the science, the hype, and the potential of this fascinating treatment.
The Magic of Platelets
PRP, or Platelet-Rich Plasma, is a concentrated concoction of your blood platelets. These tiny powerhouses are brimming with growth factors, proteins that play a crucial role in tissue repair and regeneration. By isolating and injecting these superhero platelets into your skin, the theory goes, you're stimulating collagen production, boosting elasticity, and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Beyond Botox: A Holistic Approach
Unlike botox or fillers, PRP isn't about freezing expressions or pumping up volume. It's about promoting your skin's natural healing and rejuvenation. Think of it as giving your skin a superhero serum, empowering it to fight back against wrinkles, sun damage, and even acne scars.
The Proof in the Plasma
Clinical studies are showing promising results, with reports of significant improvements in skin texture, tone, and overall luminosity. While not a magic bullet, PRP seems to be an effective tool for those seeking a subtle, natural enhancement. Its non-invasive nature and minimal downtime make it an attractive option compared to more traditional cosmetic procedures.
But is it the Holy Grail of Anti-Aging?
Hold your horses, beauty queens! PRP isn't a one-size-fits-all solution. Individual results vary, and it's not a miracle cure for aging. The initial benefits may fade over time, requiring maintenance treatments. And like any medical procedure, there are potential risks and side effects, such as bruising or infection.
The Glow-Up Roadmap
So, is the PRP glow-up right for you? Do your research, consult a qualified dermatologist, and set realistic expectations. Remember, beauty is more than just skin deep. A healthy lifestyle, balanced diet, and proper skin care are essential ingredients for a radiant complexion.
The Final Verdict
PRP offers a promising but still evolving approach to anti-aging. It's not a magic wand, but a potential tool in your beauty arsenal. If you're looking for a subtle, natural boost, and are willing to invest the time and money, the PRP glow-up might be your ticket to a more confident, radiant you.
Just remember, true beauty shines from within, and whether you choose PRP or not, embrace your unique spark and own your glow!

As we step into 2023, let's take a closer look at the top cosmetic procedures that are shaping the industry and helping individuals achieve their aesthetic goals.
Non-Surgical Facelifts Non-surgical facelifts are gaining popularity as a less invasive alternative to traditional surgical facelifts. These procedures often combine dermal fillers, Botox, and other non-invasive techniques to lift and rejuvenate the face, providing a more youthful appearance without the need for surgery.
Thread Lifts Thread lifts involve the use of dissolvable threads to lift and tighten sagging skin. This procedure is minimally invasive and can provide noticeable results with less downtime compared to surgical options.
Regenerative Medicine Treatments Regenerative medicine treatments, such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy and stem cell therapy, are becoming go-to options for rejuvenating the skin and hair. These treatments harness the body's natural healing abilities to stimulate collagen production and promote hair growth.
Laser Skin Resurfacing Laser skin resurfacing procedures continue to be popular for improving skin texture, reducing wrinkles, and addressing pigmentation issues. Advancements in laser technology have made these treatments more precise and effective.
Body Contouring with EMSCULPT EMSCULPT, which combines muscle toning and fat reduction, is making waves in the field of body contouring. Its ability to build muscle while simultaneously eliminating fat is a game-changer for those looking to sculpt their bodies.

To a Number of Poets
I am not a thunderstorm.
I would like to make that clear right now
Since more than one of you have said I should be so.
I am not a star, a fire, a spark,
No natural phenomenon
within me, no disaster here, and I
am not a queen.  I understand
the reasons why you say I could be so,
but you mistake my weariness for power.
My bones are just that – bones.
My skin was never hardened into art
And when it cuts that’s only plasma spilling out,
And haemoglobin, platelets, phagocytes.
I know the names of all of my insides and they are
Nothing cosmic.  Let me be
A woman, nothing more.
Do not demand of me a goddess-hood.  It is enough
To lean on those I love.
To write my poems and fall asleep
Before the sun is low, and to be small
and grounded to this earth.  This world
is so much bigger than my being,
And that’s alright, no, that is Right.
I appreciate the sentiment,
I truly do, but darling,
I am not a thunderstorm.

JoJolion: The Hard Life of Nijimura Kei
…and how she was criminally underutilized by Araki.
Nijimura Kei, the other Joestar in JoJolion besides Josuke & Holy, who was alive during the JJL storyline (until her last role). She was introduced as a young woman in her early 20s, working as the maid in Higashikata, the richest family in Morioh where most of the family members are spoiled.
Tumblr media
JJL Chapter 7: Josuke, Go to the Higashikata Family
She was a Stand user, using 「Born This Way」, an automatic Stand that activates when the person she has targeted opens something to attack Josuke as a temporary side boss/antagonist. Knowing that it’s automatic, this sealed her fights to be very limited and hard to develop further (both in terms of mechanism and plot).
It turned out that she is a Joestar and related to Josuke, the main protagonist.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
JJL chapter 16 and 17
And her role as Higashikata’s maid was just a disguise to investigate Higashikata's family secret and help her family (mainly her mom, Holy).
Tumblr media
JJL Chapter 17: The Lemon and the Tangerine
Kei's life at that time should have been pretty tough, when she got news that her brother had just been declared dead and her mother was terminally ill.
Her father died when she was barely a little girl (according to family tree, Kei was born in 1989 and her father died in 1991, making her just around 2 years old when she lost her father).
As a widow, it also made Holy to have to work as a career woman to support her young children (9 years old Yoshikage and 2 years old Kei were left fatherless). And indirectly took away her time as a 'mother' for Kei.
Tumblr media
JJL Chapter 50: Vitamin C and Killer Queen - part 1, look how little Kei looked lonely with her doll.
And back to present time (2011), Kei also had to lose her brother (Yoshikage) and lived alone with the only family member who really depended on her (a very ill mother).
Tumblr media
JJL Chapter 58: Dawn of the Higashikata Family
I'm not sure Kei's salary as a maid alone will be able to cover her mother’s medical bills, plus she was in undercover so she couldn't show herself as her family member out-of-nowhere.
The family mostly depended on Yoshikage to pay for it, and very unfortunately that Yoshikage is already dead, causing the payment to be stopped. I'm sure Kei did not want this to happen to her mother, but sadly she couldn't do much.
Tumblr media
Supposedly, after Kei's true identity and role were revealed, there should be a secret collaboration between her and Josuke. Too bad we never see it, Kei only occasionally appeared as cameo or one of the 'victims' of the Stand attacks from rock-humans (aka. jobbing).
Tumblr media
JJL chapter 75 and 48, not doing anything and got jobbed by 「Vitamin C」& 「Ozon Baby」.
And when she did not get any significant role through the story, she was doing her own business. Turned out that she had been taking care of her mother in hospital.
Tumblr media
JJL Chapter 102: The Wonder of You (The Miracle of Your Love) - part 19
And taking care of someone who is in a coma like that is not something that everyone’s willing to do. Surely everyone loves Holy, despite her lesser time as Kei's mother due to her job, her daughter still loves her and that’s why she was willing to take care of her in such a way.
Still, having a life like Kei's is a tough one… and not everyone can live it.
And when Kei got her new significant role in the story, her last chance to help the protagonist as his ally…
Tumblr media
Araki gave her such badass intro only to…
Tumblr media
JJL Chapter 104: The Wonder of You (The Miracle of Your Love) - part 21, get jobbed once again.
Kei's role in JoJolion is quite disappointing, she is a Joestar, a Stand user, and unlike her mother’s condition, she was fit and well so she should be able to do a lot more than Holy as a Joestar.
Kei is connected to the main protagonist, biologically related in a weird way and she held an independent mission as a spy in the Higashikata family. There should have been a lot she could have done in exchanging information and cooperating with Josuke, but her only product to Josuke throughout the story was an information regarding 'equivalent exchange' ability in Higashikata's land and nothing more.
And in the climax arc of “Wonder of You” where it was Kei’s last chance to cooperate with Josuke in defeating the big villain, when we were expecting an exciting 2-vs-1 battle, her role was only as far as a messenger as she delivered the cellphone (message) from Yasuho and just… die, nothing more to it.
Caato got a great intro (so great that she was wrongly hyped for years), but was absent for a long time and suddenly came back just to die. But even so she still left an impactful impression by defeating the main villain and breaking the family curse.
Too bad, Kei’s character who underwent similar thing ended up just jobbing like that… with her last action that was not so impactful, because we need to surprise the readers.
Kei might be a disappointment, regarding her role as a ‘character’ in JoJolion. But if we look at her as an ‘individual being’ with a life of her own (using the mindset that we are the main characters in our own lives), she had lived a very hard life. And we need to appreciate her toughness, that she still lived her life well, that she did not fall into moral turpitude, or becoming a criminal. She did not abandon her family even though they became a burden to her.
My personal confession:
Kei could be the person I admire right now because I am currently experiencing similar thing as her life. My father got covid and currently he is hospitalized. It’s been around 2 weeks right now. We both live off the island away from family, so I am the only family member who is able to support him. A few days ago he needed a platelet donor, those were the hardest days for me as the only family trying to look for. At least those days have passed. But until now he has not recovered yet and is still being treated in hospital.
Our apartment is far from the hospital so I have to go back and forth there for about 30 minutes almost every day to deliver the basic things he needs. I also have a full time job that can't be left behind. So just imagine how tired I am.
Unlike Kei who can visit his mother and directly take care of her, I can't see my father at all (and you know why). Even so, I stayed strong and did what I could as his daughter, just like Kei. And Kei became part of my inspiration to be as tough as her. Of course I still hope that these hard days will end soon and our family can be happy again together.
Let's pray for the recovery of my father and anyone else who is also seriously ill at this time.
Update: 7/15/2021
Unfortunately, my father just passed away at noon, 7/13/2021. May God forgives his sins. Bless for you all who still have your family intact, and pray for anyone who also lost their loved one by this terrible pandemic.

My "nanowrimo" for this year is just my homework lol
It's my screenplay I'm doing for school which is way more work than I thought it would be. Four people have read Act I and really like it though, so I'll take that as a win :)
If I can finish 1/4 of Act II by the end of November I'll be happy

20-25% of presenting PEs do NOT have an associated DVT
no impact of steroids on silicotic lungs
isocyanates → NSCLC
ILO categories of profusion of small opacities in pneumoconioses (esp CWP/silicosis): cat 0 = no small opacities, cat 1 = few opacities, cat 2 = many opacities but normal lung markings visible, cat 3 = normal lung markings virtually absent (can choose two adjacent categories to assign if it's felt to be borderline, can choose the same category twice)
CNS/Ophthal/Psych
Bowlby-Parkes stages of grief: numbness, pining, disorganisation & disrepair, reorganisation & recovery
progressive brainstem symptoms not explained by a single localisation → vertebral artery disease (?dissection, especially if h/o chiropractor or unsupervised yoga)
chronic small subdural haematoma from 2 weeks ago with no focal deficits or AMS - no need to evacuate
on the same track, if neurological decline is slow, then you can pretty much rule out epidural bleed
meningitis w/ PCN + cephalosporin allergy: USA vanc + moxifloxacin ± cotrimoxazole (OR) UK chloramphenicol ± cotrimoxazole (OR) meropenem monotherapy (mero covers Listeria!); all these regimens are acceptable here
Parkinson-like symptoms but LL rigidity > UL rigidity ± falls: this is ischaemic, NOT neurodegenerative! falls occur *late* in parkinsonian illness, not early
severe dementia (MMSE <10) is a contraindication for anticholinesterases; only memantine is approved for MMSE <10
Endocrine/Repro
insulin resistance → excess insulin production → defective/dystrophic lipogenesis → ectopic fat pockets → release of inflammatory mediators from fat pockets → upregulation of plasminogen activator inhibitor 1 (PAI-1) → inhibition of tPA → procoagulant state
X-linked vs AR adrenoleukodystrophy: AR (Zellweger's) presents in infancy, is rapidly progressive and kills in adolescence; X-linked presents in adolescence and is far more indolent and survivable
rapid improvement in blood glucose is actually assoc w/ acute worsening of microvasculopathy (esp retinopathy); long term improvement in blood glucose is ofc assoc w/ bettering of microvascular dz
Rheum/Derm/Immuno
anti-ribosomal P Abs are specific for lupus encephalitis
hyaline cartilage (carTWOlage = type 2 collagen) is avascular and gets nutrition from synovial fluid diffusion
response to osteoporosis therapy → procollagen-1 propeptides (PICP, PINP, osteocalcin) (bone formation markers)
colloid plasma expanders, like opioids, directly act on mast cells to secrete histamine

generally, anti-TNFs are only used in IBD that is active despite use of 5-ASA + thiopurine + MTX; the exception is fistulous Crohn's, when anti-TNFs are started ASAP
King's College criteria for APAP-induced ALF for txp referrak: I ACHE (INR >6.5, Acidosis w/ pH <7.3, Creat >3.5 mg/dl, Hepatic Encephalopathy grade 3)
CT is scan of choice for acute pancreatitis; CT is usable in chronic panc but MRI (MRCP) is ideal
80-90% of pancreatic cancers are assoc w/ KRAS2+; only 50% are assoc w/ p53-
by the way! faecal elastase/trypsin is the best measure of chronic pancreatitis, w/ elastase <200 mcg/g being diagnostic
in hepatorenal syndrome, terlipressin causes splanchnic vasoconstriction and reduces splanchnic volume, as well as reducing afferent arteriole pressure and thence renin secretion
SIBO vs short bowel syndrome: SIBO causes not just diarrhoea but also bloating and abdominal discomfort but not marked fat malabsorption and definitely not oxaluria/oxalate stones; both cause folate/B12 deficiency, dehydration, electrolyte disturbances
Onc/Haem
slight increase in PT/aPTT or slight drop in platelets will NOT explain large scale ecchymotic bleeds; in such a patient who is also taking aspirin, blame aspirin
generally, B-cell lymphomas are more common than T-cell lymphomas

cranberry juice is not as bad a culprit as grapefruit is, but it also has some pretty significant interactions (especially 2C9 which metabolises eswarfarin, the active enantiomer of warfarin; expect INR to skyrocket)

Content Warning: Eating Disorder, medical mentions, weight bias
I fainted today…
That oversimplified what happened.
I fainted after standing up post-platelet donation.
I was done and grabbing my stuff to leave, felt woozy, my vision blackened, then *blink* I’m on my back and a tech is asking me if my head hurts.
They were so sweet and in control of the situation, and I felt like a disaster. “Did you have breakfast” *lie* “Has this happened before?” *half-lie* “Here, drink some electrolytes and eat some potato chips” *scream internally while verbally giving thanks*
I was there for over an hour post-donation before I could stand without teetering over. Long-time techs, tech trainees, the woman who checked me in, all looking after me; I felt like such a drama queen. Like obviously I didn’t choose or fake passing out, but that damn voice of my ED just kept keeps saying “you’re not malnourished enough for this reaction. you’re not thin enough”
I know eating disorders are mental disorders, not weight disorders. I know the severity of the eating disorder is not always indicated by size. I know my eating disorder is fatphobic, I know I am part of the systemic issue of weight bias and fatphobia that harms so many of my friends; but the thoughts are still there, and I hate myself for them.
After I got home I had to text my therapist and tell her I couldn’t make it in-person to session and asked if we could do Zoom. We ended up doing a phone-call session. I didn’t tell her about donating, or fainting, I just said I felt dizzy/woozy and didn’t feel safe driving.
Even with the little I said, and despite her not really getting EDs, she wants me to go to residential for co-morbid ED and OCD — to Roger’s in Wisconsin.
My insurance only covers the state I live in, ie. Not Wisconsin. To go to Roger’s I have to get special Out-Of-Network authorization to go, and who knows how long of a stay they’d cover, how expensive the co-pay would end up as.
This is all such a mess, and I am so tired. I just want to fade out of existence, out of people’s memories, I just don’t want to be anymore. I am so fucking tired.

The Beauty Boost with PRP: From Hair Loss to Wrinkles, Diving into the Power of Your Own Blood
Tumblr media
Forget endless creams and harsh chemicals, the fountain of youth might be closer than you think – it's coursing through your veins! Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy is emerging as a revolutionary, natural approach to cosmetic rejuvenation, promising a beauty boost without the risks and downsides of traditional treatments. But is it all hype, or a genuine game-changer in the world of aesthetics? Let's dive into the fascinating world of PRP and explore its potential.
The Science Behind the Magic:
PRP harnesses the regenerative power of your own blood. Platelets, tiny cell fragments, are rich in growth factors that stimulate collagen production, cell growth, and tissue repair. By isolating and concentrating these potent platelets, PRP becomes a powerful cocktail for rejuvenation.
Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow (Maybe):
Hair loss can be a devastating blow to confidence. PRP therapy for hair has gained significant traction, with studies showing promising results. Injections of PRP into the scalp stimulate hair follicles, potentially thickening existing hair and even promoting new growth. While not a miracle cure, PRP offers a potentially natural and effective alternative to harsh chemical treatments or painful surgeries.
Wrinkles Be Gone: Turning Back the Clock with Your Own Blood:
Fine lines and wrinkles, the inevitable byproducts of time, can be softened and smoothed with PRP injections. By boosting collagen production in the skin, PRP plumps and rejuvenates, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and giving skin a youthful glow. Unlike fillers that add volume, PRP works by stimulating your own natural rejuvenation process, offering a potentially more subtle and natural-looking result.
The Not-So-Fairytale Ending: What to Consider:
While incredibly promising, PRP isn't a one-size-fits-all solution. Individual results can vary, and multiple sessions may be required for optimal outcomes. It's also crucial to choose a qualified and experienced professional for your PRP treatment to ensure safety and efficacy.
The Final Chapter: Is PRP the Future of Beauty?
It's too early to crown PRP the undisputed queen of rejuvenation. However, its potential as a natural, minimally invasive, and effective tool for addressing hair loss and wrinkles is undeniable. Further research and long-term studies are needed, but PRP therapy undoubtedly marks a fascinating chapter in the ever-evolving story of beauty and self-care.
So, ready to unlock the magic within? If you're curious about how PRP can boost your beauty, consult a qualified professional to discuss your options and explore if this innovative treatment could be the key to unlocking your natural radiance.
Stay tuned for more on the exciting world of PRP and other cutting-edge cosmetic advancements! Share your thoughts and questions about PRP in the comments below. Let's continue the conversation and explore the future of beauty together!

When I’m Saved (Part 1)
AN: This story is a loose and dramatised version based on a true event that happened to me. I have changed names and situations for privacy reasons. This will be a Tumblr and Ao3 exclusive fic. I hope you all enjoy laughing at how much of an idiot I am for getting into this situation.
“I’d like to thank you all for coming in on such brief notice, and I apologise for calling you all in this late.” Section Chief Mateo Cruz greets his tired team after the plane takes off. “You will notice, Dr Lewis is not here. She took a flight out to Peyton, Idaho to be the liaison for the La Byorteaux family. In the meantime, we have Dr Spencer Reid.”
“What exactly is the situation?” Agent Prentiss asks.
“Sixteen-year-old Dmitri La Byorteaux was reported missing from Disneyland at midnight, when the park closed. Park security and LAPD are still searching the park just in case he is still there. Dmitri was with his school group, the Peyton Panthers Marching Band and Colour Guard. The LAPD is taking copies of all of their records concerning Dmitri. The band directors are John Tremblay and Mark Wozniak, assistant leaders are Amy Tremblay, Jill Mellencamp, Nicholas Grace, Nicholas Vasquez, Lily Jones, and Arthur Wallace. There are parent chaperones, the one in charge of Dmitri is Ressa Kilburn,” the section chief explains.
“None of them know where he is or can get ahold of him?” Agent Jareau asks.
“No. These girls may know, though.”
“Adelaide Parker, Tessa Anderson, Emily McClane, Imogen Wilkinson?”
“His roommates. They were with him for every moment of the trip.”
“Roommates? Why would they room a boy with four girls? That sounds very strange.”
“Hello, crimefighters!” Ms Garcia cheerfully greets the team. “I’ve just been through Dmitri’s records that Mrs Mellencamp has provided. He didn’t have a seat buddy on the bus. He was in the back of the ‘orange’ bus, with Imogen and Emily in front of him. And Dmitri is on three medications, two anti-depressants and a thyroid hormone. He is also reportedly allergic to ibuprofen.”
“Two anti-depressants?”
“Yeah, fluoxetine and trazodone.”
“Those two together can create an effect called serotonin syndrome, which is an excess in the hormone serotonin, which is known as the hormone that makes people happy. Symptoms can range from headaches and myoclonus to hyperthermia and a drastically increased heart rate,” Dr Reid says.
“Dmitri’s phone is most likely dead, because I can’t track it.”
“Does he talk to anybody from the Los Angeles area?”
“I spotted a few Los Angeles numbers in his contacts. One belongs to a Hussein College. Another is registered to a man named Diego Castro, and yet another is registered to a Jacob Freeman. I’m sending contact information to your mobiles.”
“Castro’s a forty-year-old drag queen. Has the physique to easily overpower Dmitri.”
“Freeman is six feet tall, twenty-one-years-old, also has the physique to overpower Dmitri easily. Do they know each other? Did either of them know Dmitri or each other before yesterday?”
“No. I don’t even think Diego and Jacob know each other now, but I...I just found a picture on Diego’s Instagram, it’s from yesterday, and both Dmitri and Tessa are in it. Diego’s the one hugging Dmitri, the other men are friends of his.”
“That’s Tessa over there on the other side. And is Dmitri in a wheelchair?”
“Yeah, none of the band records mentioned a wheelchair or a mobility impairment, so let me just get ahold of Dmitri’s medical records…” Typing can be heard through the laptop. “Huh. There’s nothing for Dmitri. At all. Like, he doesn’t exist. I found a Rhys La Byorteaux, though, they have the same prescriptions, same hometown, same last name... same parents… the only thing different is that Rhys is a girl and Dmitri is a boy. They even have the same therapist.”
“Rhys and Dmitri sound like they’re the same person. When did Dmitri start existing?”
“Early 2017. That’s also when Rhys kind of started...not existing… yeah, they’re the same person, records from Dmitri’s clinic show Rhys is a legal name and that he is biologically female, but he is seeking treatment for gender dysphoria and uses the name Dmitri.”
“Oh... he’s transgender? Why weren’t we told of that?” Agent Jareau asks. “I feel like that would be important information to know.”
“I don’t know, but we’re still calling him Dmitri, right?”
“We should, to avoid confusion. How common is that last name?”
“Not very, sir, the only other people I’m finding in America with that last name are the acting brothers and Dmitri’s family... there is a birth certificate for a Luke La Byorteaux, born to Nathaniel La Byorteaux and a Maria Alvez, but I can’t find anything for Luke past 1989.” Agent Alvez looks to the laptop with his eyebrows furrowed.
“Did you just say Maria Alvez?”
“Yeah, she also kind of went missing, too.”
“Garcia. Focus on Dmitri.”
“Got it. Dmitri’s medical records look relatively normal until the age of three, then after that, it looks like he’s a frequent flyer in the medical field. He was born relatively healthy for being induced three weeks early, except for the part where his father, Nathaniel La Byorteaux, was removed from the delivery room for protesting when the doctor threw the baby at mother Eva Kelly’s chest, and also for refusing doctors access to newborn Dmitri, who was born anemic.”
“What kind of father refuses treatment for his newborn child?” Agent Simmons asks. “What started happening when Dmitri turned three?”
“A lot of appointments with specialty doctors, peppered in with ER visits. They referred Dmitri out to an audiologist based on concerns of multiple ear infections and being deaf. They found out he wasn’t deaf by scanning his brain waves when the regular test didn’t work out, and he was developmentally delayed, put in preschool at three, the youngest in his class. He ate a penny, went to the ER to have it pumped out, that’s like the one relatively normal thing that happened to him. Eva Kelly and Nathaniel La Byorteaux voiced many concerns about Dmitri’s never-ending ear infections and the strep throat that he would get constantly, and the frequent nosebleeds that happened nearly daily. He was admitted to the ER many times, covered in bruises from head to toe, bleeding profusely, dangerously high fevers, and they rushed him from the hospital in Ontario, Oregon to Boise, Idaho. CPS was called over concerns of Nathaniel abusing Dmitri, but charges were dismissed once Eva explained that Nathaniel wouldn’t actually beat Dmitri if he didn’t wake up, that was just how Nathaniel woke him up.”
“What? Nathaniel threatened to beat up Dmitri?”
“Yeah, I wish that was a joke. All of the tests came back that there were no platelets in Dmitri’s system. Anywhere. Zilch. He was given three bags of immunoglobulin and carefully monitored after that. Doctors determined that the only explanation could have been this rare disease called ITP, or-”
“Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura. The body mistakenly attacks and destroys platelets in the body, which are fragments of cells that help clot the blood when the body is wounded. It usually starts in children after a viral disease, and it usually resolves itself with no need for treatment.”
“Yes, Good Doctor. Dmitri’s condition was closely monitored after that, and then shortly after his fifth birthday, he was diagnosed with autism by a specialist in Salt Lake City, Utah. He went to the MayoClinic in Phoenix, Arizona for a month to have a splenectomy, and then that August, he and his brother Roger Kelly were nearly killed in a single-car rollover, and more blood bags were needed, both sustained concussions. Dmitri was admitted to the ER again later that month after he reportedly fell from the shelves in his closet during the night, that’s a concussion, and then again after he tipped over one of those old-person motor scooters onto himself, but miraculously, all he had was road rash and a bunch of scratches.”
“What? Where did he get a motorised scooter?”
“His dad apparently got it after breaking his knee on his stepson, Robert’s trick bike, when he collided with the garden gnome. Robert also split his chin open and had to get five stitches. Again, the garden gnome. No, I’m not making any of this up. Let’s see...no hospital activity until Dmitri got his tonsils removed at age nine, apparently that was the reason he got strep throat five times a year. He went through urgent care all the time for weird accidents, like one time, his face swelled up to the size of a grapefruit because of misusing acne wipes. He went through urgent care at fourteen for a concussion, was sent home, no further testing was done... and then two months later, he was admitted to the ER for a major concussion, tests showed no brain bleeding, he was sent home to recover from it, when to the ER three months ago because he had bled out during a panic attack...He didn’t go to the ER again until three weeks ago, and yeah.”
“How does he behave in school?”
“Uh...Dmitri is mayhem incarnate, constant behaviour issues. He’s noted to be moody, fidgety, stubborn. Quite closed off from his peers, distracted, impulsive. He does his work super fast and is noted to be quite intelligent but breaks the rules. He is known to be very messy, and he is regularly known to be very goofy, often covered in markers and other things.. He argues with teachers a lot, has his phone confiscated a lot, violates dress code a lot, has been involved in weird incidents, has a very filthy mouth, serves a lot of detention for being late, a lot.”
“He’s a rule breaker. You think he left on purpose?”
“He doesn’t look like he can in that wheelchair. It looks like a park rental. Garcia, check into that wheelchair thing. And check Dmitri’s social media. His emails and text messages, too.”
“On it. I’m going to update Tara.” The blonde woman ends the call, and the screen returns to a navy blue background.
“I’m going to call LAPD, tell them Dmitri has less time than we thought,” Chief Cruz says, pulling out his cell phone and stepping towards another section of the plane.
“How do you bleed out from a panic attack?” Agent Rossi asks. “Kid has got talents.”
“That entire family has talents. A garden gnome?”
“Less talk about the freak garden gnome accident, more trying to find Dmitri. He couldn’t have gotten far if he needed a wheelchair, so someone would have had to carry him out if he got far.”
“We have to figure out why he was in the wheelchair.”
“He had a concussion three weeks ago that went mostly untreated, he’s probably still showing symptoms, and he may have developed physical coordination issues rendering him temporarily unable to walk. He may also be extremely dizzy, or his limbs may be extremely weak,” Dr Reid explains.
“Someone would have had to take him. We should track down Diego Castro and Jacob Freeman, see what they know.”
“The girls would definitely know what happened to him. We have to talk to them. We should also talk to the chaperones that would know Dmitri the best, starting with John and Amy Tremblay.”

Aw those hcs are adorable!
I like that green tea is such a staple for 1146 even cells who know him treat getting accepted by him like a pet owner does when their cat bring them a dead animal offering. At least he brings them tea instead of a dead germ. XD
I’m now being reminded of the S1 ending where Platelet sits on top of 3803’s cart. Only replace it with NC now. I can imagine all the weird looks they get when she’s carting around adult Normal Cell like he’s a child. Neither of them care. NC probably just gives off a smug ‘you wish a strong pretty girl would give you a ride on her cart all over the body’ (and he’s right. Some are jealous). But I also see Leader Platelet come running after them because she’s used to 3803 doing that for her too. Instead of making NC leave, Leader Chan plops gerself in his lap all three go on a adventure together (3803 is a disaster and curiosity magnet so eventually things could always get wild).
It’s funny to think NC is in fact very protective of her. But because he’s a Normal Cell now he’s much weaker then her. She ends up acting more protective over him and carrying him around when he can’t walk. That or she gives him piggy back rides.  It probably takes him awhile to get used to this new reversal. But then he’s like 'eh she’s caring about me and that’s all that matters’. He definitely still acts very protective but he’s more of the nagging type like 5100. But he does it more grumpily. He’s actually bonded with 5100 when it comes to worrying about 3803 (which is pretty ironic). The only difference is he focuses more on how tough she is too and likes it when 3803 goes off the beaten path and does things a RBC isn’t known to do. Since 5100 thinks so little outside the box, NC also sasses her but she sasses right back and then they can squabble (in a non hostile way that never goes to the levels he and 1146 squabbles can) about how she thinks 3803 should just do as expected of her. While NC praises 3803 for doing more then what’s expected of her and even uses the time she called the Calvary on Cancer as an example (which is also ironic).
Lol, 1146 takes awhile to figure out he’s not over senstive about NC acting affectionate with 3803 because of the past (at least post finally accepting NC in their lives by giving him tea). He’s just straight up jealous and territorial. He’d hate any guy kissing her on the cheek. 3803 doesn’t mind because she actually gets that NC is not doing this out of romance (he’s just as dumb if not dumber then 1146 when it comes to that). Granted she knows he has a crush. But he’s also still very affection starved and not very good at getting social norms. He’s trying his best though and these days wouldn’t dare do anything to upset her. After awhile she notices 1146’s sheer grumpiness and NC tells her he’s upset he’s too shy to kiss her cheeks too. 3803 being 3803 quickly tells 1146 what NC told her and she informs him 'of course  he can kiss her cheek too’. She waits for him to kiss her cheek but he just stands there frozen like all the life got sucked out of him. NC is trying not to laugh out loud. 3803 gets tired of waiting so - thinking it might help - she gives a quick kiss on the cheek to 1146. Then his clothes explodes off him as his face turns more red then her hair. Normally NC would get a little jealous but even he’s in a little awe by the reaction. 0_0
Normal Cell would cry tears of joy that NC managed to find two friends. That’s a lot more then he expected. He’d be such a busybody like that overly enthusiastic momma bear who’s so proud and invested in her child. NC would stop him from getting too excited over 3803 being his girlfriend because she’s not. Normal Cell also shows 1146 all of NC’s most embarrassing photos because he sees 1146 as a nice upstanding guy who is like NC’s best friend. 1146 is polite enough to leave before laughing his head off and subtly making fun of NC about it later. That’s the quickest way to get NC to behave once he realizes all the blackmail ammo 1146 has on him.
Aw, I bet 1146 gives the best hugs to 3803. He just envelopes her into his big arms and she feels so safe and warm in them. Sometimes when he’s particularly happy or sentimental, he sweeps her off her feet for a tight hug while she laughs.
I can imagine 1146 just has his iconic dour face when he’s carrying them and thinking he’s the only adult in this trio.
NC would make fun of 1146 for liking boring vanilla best. 1146 would defend his choice saying it’s vanilla Bean! Very different from ordinary vanilla. Then he’d point out lemon suits NC just fine because they’re both so sour to deal with.
Aw NC trying his best to find a good dynamic with 1146 and 1146 leaving to cool off instead of exploding at him. They’d definitely have a ways to go and NC would be grateful deep down how patient and kind 1146 really is with him. The sass will always remain but NC is definitely forcing himself to learn how to not hurt others when previously that’s what his entire existence was about. NC probably cried once when he accidently made 1146 REALLY upset. Then 1146 ended up getting flustered and giving NC way more treats then he could consume in one sitting because those tears would stop coming. That’s their weird dynamic.
NC will never stop treating 3803 like a queen. Making her happy is the one thing that eases his guilt a little. She definitely sees herself acting like a big sister for him and always accepting his gifts. She’ll pat him on the head and hope someday he’ll hate himself a little less for a life he hadn’t picked. Her forgiveness is the one thing that helps him sleep at night.
As much as NC would never admit it, he doesn’t want to ever move out of Normal Cell’s apartment. He knows he’ll get lonely without his creator and sees him as a security blanket despite all his visible annoyances over said mentor’s clingy ways. He’ll probably treat Normal Cell’s next clone like that annoying younger sibling he never asked for and is his mortal enemy by birth (you know in a normal sibling way).

Hiya! Are you new? Your email is unfamiliar to me....
Hahaha, now I’m getting images of 1146 covered head to toe in blood while dragging around the mutilated remains of a bacterium for his friends. It’s somewhat adorable but also terrifying.
That’s a great callback! I actually wanted to reference that time in 3803/NC’s relationship back in RBA (basically one of the first times they meet and 3803 saves Cancer by running for her life with Cancer hanging on for dear life in her cart). But the reference to the season one ending is also a great detail! And yes, Leader Platelet (and a few of the other platelets), also like to ride on 3803′s cart.
(Sometimes, other RBCs will get their own platelets and they’ll go have races around the body).
I am living for the friendship with NC and 5100. Although I’m pretty sure 5100 will never know the true story behind the kidnapping and NC’s true origins, they will surely bond over 3803. (But let’s face it, NC gets 3803 roped up in his shenanigans and it’s up to 5100, 4201, or 1146 to bail them out. And no. NC regrets nothing).
Protective NC is best NC, even when he’s being a sassy little child when doing so.
1146′s CLOTHES EXPLODE??? HEHAHAHAHAH! 3803 is left mystified while Dendritic Cell swoops in for a few photos.
(NC pays Dendritic Cell with a few humorous stories of 1146 in exchange for a few photos... to which Normal Cell promptly sticks into his budding scrapbook for NC).
1146 gives the best hugs. Sometimes, when he swoops 3803 in his arms, he sees NC looking off to the side, an angry blush on his cheeks. 1146 isn’t one to gloat, but that’s probably what he’s doing when he sees the look on NC’s face.
(Don’t worry... some day down the line, 1146 hugs him... but they will never admit it).
If there’s anyone interested in the Abnormalities verse and also happens to be an artist or likes to doodle... please draw grumpy 1146 holding his two friends like they’re a sack of grapes? Please? It would make my day, haha.
Hehehe, I gave NC lemon flavor because of his “lime green eyes”. But he is definitely pretty sour to begin with.

^^^ I won’t expand on it, because you worded it better than I ever could. You broke their relationship into their barest essentials.
Oooohhhh, I love the image of 3803 patting him on the head. While NC isn’t that much taller than 3803, the height difference is still apparent. I can just imagine that whenever NC gets really down or especially guilty, he hunches over himself, becomes smaller, and bows his head (reminiscent of his first reincarnation as a child trying to hide from the big, bad immune cells). When 3803 sees this, she immediately goes into mother/big sister mode and starts patting his head and smoothing his locks. Maybe she even kisses him on the forehead/cheek (depending on how she’s still dealing with the trauma).
After that, NC beams at her, but doesn’t sass or say anything.
He’s content with what she has given him.
Hehehe, I bet Normal Cell has to explain that there are rules and regulations to this sort of thing. So, they compromise. NC and Normal Cell will live on the same floor of their apartment complex and NC gets to visit whenever he wants.
(He totally comes over every day just to annoy his younger sibling).
Thanks for the lovely add ons! They were really cute and adorable! :D
