In vedno sem se zdrznila,

Vendar sedaj sem mirna.

Ne bojim se je več.

i can put letters together

string the syllables

place this prose

somewhere where

people will find it

but what i can't do

is describe how it feels

to wake up dizzy and dead

with the need to pour

fuzzy dream-shaped words

out where they can't

burn up my insides

i can't show you

how in giddy moments

onto my hands, my legs, my soul

i can't make you believe

There will come a point when you just have to do something in spite of your fear and anxiety. We have to make a decision and stop putting one foot on something and one on another. Because indecisions are killers.. 🤔 When I started lettering, I never had to worry about getting in front of people, or being listened to on podcasts. It was the best job for me! But as I grow I started meeting people, made friends and I had so many opportunities that I simply can’t say no to.. 🎙 This year, I was interviewed a couple of times for podcasts, magazines and online publications. To say they were nervewracking is an understatement. Funny thing is, I loved it! Despite having doubts if I can pull it off, I did it. English isn’t my native language so I’m always afraid of talking on interviews. But here I am, still alive after doing some! What I learned from it all, I’m summarizing in 3 words - JUST DO IT.. ✅ They say if it scares you, you’re on the right track so stop getting paralyzed by constantly reminding yourself of the things you can’t do. Transform them into - “how can I make it happen?” and witness the magic unfold.. .. In case you’re wondering, I constantly feel that way. But I do it anyway! So when I was invited to take part in Today at Apple’s The Art of Words together with my colleagues @scribblerscollective - I knew it’ll be scary. First talk? No pressure! Je to napaka?

Grem lahko naprej.

Katera ne more iz lastne kože- katera se ne ljubi dovolj

Da mora iskati nekoga drugega.

Neko vez – nekaj.

 Me je želel izkoristiti?

 Mogoče- in ponosna sem nase da se nisem dala.

Vesela sem lahko

 Da delujem močno- ko v resnici nisem.

Hotel je poljub, katerega ni dobil.

In na to sem ponosna. 

Vendar zakaj? 

Potrebujem nekoga- odvisnica od odnosov.

Pot me pelje po neslani vodi. 

Ne drži me.

Utapljam se.

In hočem ven.

Vendar ne gre. Ne diham.

Noge me zapuščajo.

In pod lastno težo kosti – ki me vleče navzdol

Potonem. Ne slišim.

In takrat- takrat zadiham drugače.

In mi je ušeč.

I turned 41 yesterday. What a year it has been. It’s funny how at the beginning of every year you plan things but fate keeps showing you different things. The universe know better where to put you.. 🇯🇵 I planned on expanding and teaching workshops all over the world and I was able to teach in Tokyo and Osaka early this year. Things turned differently after that. A great opportunity opened up which allowed me to teach and still reach more people around the world. I taught my first online class in July and releasing a brand new spanking course SOON!. 🍎 This year, I was able to share my story and how I managed to run a business and still raise 3 kids through podcasts (thank you @drunkonlettering @dpcreates @designrecharge ) and publicly @apple 🥂 When I was young I thought turning 40 would be scary and terrible. I was wrong. 41 ain’t so bad! Life has taught me so many lessons and though at times it may throw me so curveballs, it also shows me the way to handle things positively.. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Nothing is ever easy but our perspective can change the way we look at life differently. The hardest thing I’ve done so far was to smile in public last Saturday and pretend like my mom was not being rushed to the hospital while I was on stage. How does one do that? You simply do. Because you made a commitment.. 🎨 I chose not to complain nor make excuses. I find ways to turn things around no matter how difficult it is. That’s how I managed to speak despite being in pain. That’s how I leveraged my 2-4hr work window into getting higher paying clients. That’s how I learned that a client doesn’t just want lettering work. They want YOUR lettering work. It’s about you and how you can positively impact the world through your art.
