He has always enjoyed his time inhabiting a vessel; the full human senses are so limiting, and so profoundly visceral in their limitation. How exhilarating, to feel the throat work as it swallows, to taste stale gasoline and fungal rot on the air, to feel the minute brush of clothing against bare skin! How incredible, to have a thing as wondrous and sensorial as a mouth, as a hand, as a squirming, reckless tongue!

In truth, Castile is somewhat envious of his vessel. And sometimes, when the Host is quiet, he contemplates keeping it, the same way he’s chosen to keep the knife Dean thrust beside of him.

Late 2 the party but I feel like this needs to be said. Anyways yes everyone is correct. The ideal deancas breastfeeding scenario is one where dean is breastfeeding cas. However the FUNNIEST deancas breastfeeding scenario is the opposite. Cas breastfeeds dean, they derive some sort of enjoyment from it, but both ultimately end up leaving that encounter vaguely unsatisfied and sort of unsettled by the whole thing.

9) what's your writing process like?

Generally I like to have an overview of what I’m doing before I start – I used to only write things that were like 2k max, so that didn’t take that much active sitting down to achieve, but my current wip is like 40k and counting, so for that I spent a week making a 4k plan that involved a lot of stream-of-consciousness typing into a word document, and then I keep doing more of that either in the word document or over DMs when I think of things I need to change / flesh out more. Multi-chapter is new for me though so I don’t know yet how it’ll work out overall! I really really do not want to have to go back and do drastic stuff to the structure of stuff I’ve already written, but I would cope if I had to.

19) If you could write an ideal fic, what would it include?

Probably this would be something that converted everyone to seeing Jack stuff how I do shdkfkfkgkgj. I’m mostly interested in writing fic in terms of exploring the text in a specific way rather than including anything in particular other than characters I’m interested in, though I guess it would include a good healthy lack of self awareness because I do enjoy playing with that <3

"Dean lays his free hand along the place where Castiel is stretched around the tablet, and strokes his thumb along the edge of the weeping cut in Castiel’s belly. Castiel shivers. He grabs Dean’s wrist, hard, but Dean doesn’t stop. He lays his other hand atop Castiel’s, still clutched around his wrist, and starts gently stroking the skin there, too. “I think you and I both know what broke the connection,” Dean says, his fingers gentle on Castiel’s hands and belly, “and this tablet ain’t it.” Castiel closes his eyes. He doesn’t say anything—how could he? Instead, he lets himself feel it all; Dean’s hands on him, his blood smeared over Dean’s skin. He holds Dean there, because he likes how it feels. The sting of pain, the little hint of pleasure. Together, they make everything seem sweeter."

“Do you know how my visions work?”

A cavern opens up in Dean’s chest. He turns to Patience. Her eyebrows are drawn together, but she keeps looking ahead, as if the birds rustling in the tangled shrubs of the empty lot are of pivotal importance. 

Dean doesn’t answer, but apparently she wasn’t expecting him to. “Sometimes I just get a feeling,” she continues. “Sometimes I can see wisps of the future hanging around a person, and I know something big is going to happen to them. And if it's really important, like life-or-death important, it plays out in front of me like a movie.” 

Dean can feel the flatness of his voice as it leaves his mouth. “You got something to tell me that’s life-or-death important?”

“Maybe.”  

Dean feels a flash of annoyance, but he tamps it down when he sees Patience drop her gaze like she’s genuinely unsure.

“There’s always a different path you can take, but you have to be able to see that path. You…” She turns to him, frowning and serious, and Dean wishes he could hide. “You have a lot of different paths, Dean. Every time I look at you, I think you’re going to take a different one. But you haven't found the right one yet.”

me an absolute horror slut: did u say horror reccs? ok first of all the bread that is my body by @themauvesoul they have a bunch of consumehimnatural fics this one is my fav. askance ofc you've probably read a bunch of their popular works but a lesser known one with claire!vessel body horror is apocrita it's so fucking disgustingdelicious. clearcutting by @lies-unfurl is one of those ones that i read over and over the twist makes you want to eat your intestines. bound to follow you down by @littlehollyleaf for some good ol naomi torture horror. (small self plug i do write a lot of horror too but it's less slutty more sad) those are all oneshots if you're looking for a longfic id recommend every part of the animal by askance if you haven't read it yet

Summary

Castiel knows many things about Biggerson’s. He knows the original restaurant was a roadside diner opened in 1964. He knows that Biggerson’s is one of a handful of national restaurant chains with a location in all forty-eight continental states. He knows that the fry cook in this particular Biggerson’s is named Rob, and has a nicotine addiction. He knows that his waitress goes by Gerry, even though her full name is Geraldine, and she is angry because his coffee refills and late afternoon pancakes won’t make her as much money as the family of four seated at the next table. He knows Dean’s usual order by heart—the heart attack burger with a coke and a side of fries.

And, most importantly, Castiel knows that all of these things make a Biggerson’s restaurant an excellent place to hide.

You’ve written so many good fics but. My absolute favorite HAS to be cold storage

The use of Chuck as a tool of analysis in fandom is genuinely so frustrating, because fundamentally it encourages people not to engage with spn as a piece of media made by real life flawed human writers, which is what it is!! Like, Cas’s inadvertent structural protagonist status at various points has nothing to do with ~him vs Chuck~ or whatever, but due to specific oversights by the writers such that his actions are the ones driving the plot rather than salmondean’s. ‘Chuck’ isn’t trying to ~keep him out of the story~, that doesn’t really mean anything (and if it wasn’t for that one line in Unity, no one would necessarily even think it) – it’s that the writers, trying to keep him off screen, gave him more interesting and more impact-having things to do than they gave salmondean with their much larger amount of screen time. Like I get the Chuck explanation being enjoyable, but we already have a real life explanation, and it’s pretty fun in itself imo! Gamble very much did arguably make Cas the structural protagonist partially as a direct result of trying to kill him off, which is kind of hysterical.

Also the thing is like, Chuck as the authorgodvillain was such a late addition that pretty much nothing is designed around him being the most satisfactory explanation – and it’s incredibly nebulous what viewing earlier events in that light of his intervention is even supposed to entail. If the writers had the courage of their convictions a little more, we could have been invited to recontextualise various really out of left field events in this light, eg @autisticandroids has talked about this re godstiel and the way the leviathans came out of nowhere, and me and them have also discussed it re gadreel being set up to be the “perfect deantransgression” (as @themauvesoul has pointed out) – it would make sense for a villainous author trying to create drama (and undermine Cas) to have contrivedly brought those things about specifically to that end. It is absolutely the case that there are places where it can be fun to say “it would make sense for Chuck to have made this happen for x/y/z reasons”, and it would have been very brave and sexy for the writers to be like “oh yeah lol this thing we wrote would have made more sense of it was Chuck”, but it would be very silly to say “oh the leviathans coming out of nowhere wasn’t actually bad writing because that was Chuck” y’know? Chuck as the authorgodvillain is a concept you can play with if you like, but he’s not a tool of analysis. In the show’s protagonist-powers-deconstruction episode the writers aren’t even brave enough to attack the most egregious writing conveniences facilitating the story, so extending the Chuck lens anywhere else in a way that lets them off the hook is extremely generous, as well as just pretty meaningless.

Fundamentally , the main function that Chuck as the authorgod really serves is a way to handwave away the bad writing (or any other disliked things) in spn when 1) the bad writing is interesting and 2) do we really want to give the writers that get out of jail free card?
