Have you seen the new episode of Odaat??? Thoughts?

i’m honestly just so tired? *spoilers ahead*

i really shouldn’t be reviewing things in the middle of a depressive phase because i know that affects my viewing experience but like... 

are we supposed to care about an avery/schneider baby even though we’ve spent no time watching their relationship get reestablished after the breakup, we haven’t even seen them together IN the apartment they supposedly now share, and in the same episode as the pregnancy reveal we got to hear avery respond to schneider being schneidery by telling pen and max, ‘i can fix him’??? 

are we supposed to be thrilled to see pen and max together when they still haven’t discussed the whole ‘they broke up for a valid reason’ thing--and the episode in which a positive pregnancy test was found in the family trash kind of started out with a joking reference TO the fact that the show still hasn’t addressed their history around wanting vs. not wanting kids???

apparently now it’s canon that schneider goes to a country club costume party every year where they deliberately sneer at the very idea of the neighborhood he so loves? when before avery (and even in response to his father’s visit) part of why schneider was so lovable and so close to pen’s family was the way he was born into money but tried really hard not to be a rich privileged jerk about it?

honestly is it still supposed to be funny that dr b. is in love with lydia but she’s happy having him trail around after her like a pet? i loved their relationship by the end of s2 when it was like they’d come to an understanding that they’d be good friends and he loved her and he was fine with her not loving him back, but s4 has brought back the ‘hahaha their one-sided relationship dynamic is so funny’ jokes even harder than s3 and they make me uncomfortable

syd and elena were funny, alex and nora were funny (i like that she seems like she already fits in well with the family), and lydia had some of my fave jokes of the episode, but that’s all it really was for me, funny. 

twitter was very emotional about a schneider baby and what it’ll mean for him and dad feels and everything but i didn’t even come close to tearing up because it’s not like they addressed any of that: what it means that he wasn’t planning on this, whether he really ever did want to be a dad, how that’s affected by his sobriety, cementing his relationship with avery via a surprise baby rather than a thought-out proposal and acceptance.

and maybe they’ll cover some of that in future episodes, but it seems unlikely when they have so many characters and not enough time. also, remember when he was like a dad to elena and alex and it was one of the sweetest things about him? i’m kind of getting a vibe that they’re going to just leave that behind entirely once they focus on schneider & avery’s pregnancy, so that’s...fun.

idk, if the show’s ultimate message is not going to be found family so much as ‘having an amazing family is a foundation you can use to move forward into your real life’ and we’re going to watch as each character moves into being part of a couple and focuses on those connections more over time, then that would be realistic for life i guess but not a show i’m going to enjoy watching.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Tom Nook is an honest COMMUNITY BUILDER and ARCHITECT he only collects the money he directly needs to build big things and his end goal is your happiness and comfort and emotional & physical thriving!!! he’s also a great uncle and funky friend, and i love his lil shirt, so that’s that on that! I see him and Isabelle doing Stretchies in their office  BOOM serotonin overflow! also he gave me a cool ticket to a fun puzzle island with good prices for May Day! would a rotten capitalist do that? he is my friend and my uncle and my enrichment team!

Hey, there’s a feature on ao3 where you can filter out other ships from the tag you’re looking at (eg Mileven) so you don’t have see like Byler or Reddie in the tag, idk I hope this helped

How long are you in quarantine for? Or do you not know?

We’ve been told it’ll last until april 3rd, but I mean.... it’s very possible that on april 2nd they’ll tell us it’ll last for another couple weeks cause nothing right now is certain :/ let’s hope for the best!!

Did you see the new S4 pics for one day at a time?

i have!! @outfieldlove messaged me about them the day they were online and i basically absorbed all of them but couldn’t look away from the one where penelope and schneider are holding hands again. 

or, wait–i just realized i don’t know if you mean the pilot episode images they released, which i was talking about up there, or the even newer one that’s teasing a (finally!) halloween episode for the show this season? cuz i just found out about that. like, literally just now when i checked for updates. i actually almost made a halloween-themed gifset last year for the show and was wondering if they’d ever make a themed episode and now we know they are.

either way, i am excited for all updates and images and i’m glad we’re inching ever closer to the premiere. :)
