If I were to ever write a tragedy. Or anything really, if I were to ever sit down and try to write an entire story from start to finish. I would write a tragedy about siblings.
I'm sick to death of romantic tragedies. Yeah yeah, you've met someone and you love them and it all goes wrong. Well get up. You can meet someone again.
You can't have another sibling. You can't grow up next to someone again, can't share a life all the way from childhood, can't go through that again. It doesn't matter if it didn't shape you both in the same way. It was still the same thing to you both.
If I write a tragedy. It'll be about someone who is half your soul and half your shadow. It'll be about a world that gives no regard to that. It'll be about loss, slowly and agonizing and tearing. Betrayal on the deepest scale. It'll be about siblings.

percy has been called smart by hazel, reyna, and annabeth (twice).
to say he’s actually dumb is to disagree with those three women. and if you are disagreeing with 3 of the most knowledgeable, capable, and badass characters in the series… what are you even doing?

it also caught me so off guard in episode 1 in particular that the crew clearly knew how much izzy was doing to protect them from ed?? no one's saying it out loud because it won't help but the hug, and the whole scene surrounding it, says they've all quietly been paying attention and worrying about him behind his back and it was a culmination of weeks and months of living like they were while knowing that izzy was bending over backwards to absorb as much of ed's rage and heartbreak and anger as possible in order to shield the rest of them??? help??

Spn revival (re this post): Dean doesn’t ever acknowledge Cas’s feelings but he does pointedly drink out of straws in front of him. Hoping that Cas will pick up the hint (he doesn’t). Dean sulks the entire time, but grows more and more physically affectionate with Cas, assuming he thinks they’re just no homo bro touches because he hasn’t said anything. This devastates him but he continues to let it happen. The season culminates in Dean and Cas standing under an umbrella together in the rain, drinking from the same glass of sweet tea together, each using their own straw. They’re standing outside of their newly purchased home. Their boots and shoulders touch. They never kiss

Sometimes I think about the reveal of the wormhole weapon. That scene, in a warzone, everything lost and fractured and terrifying. I think about it, and wonder how the hell they did it right.
It's not easy, to put image to something that has been built up for most of the show. Oh the wormhole weapon, it's so powerful, it's so dangerous, it's a macguffin, really. Something not defined, just implied. How could an actual weapon live up to the general idea of it.
But it does. It is genuinely horrible. It is terrifying. It is exactly as big and bad and dangerous as we've been told. And I want to understand why.
Spoilers, going forward.
I think maybe. That the whole build up to it helps. Because the characters are in a warzone, a battlefield. They feel intensely vulnerable, one of the original, most dearly held characters has just died, and their living ship is trying to stay alive in the warzone where everyone, no matter the side, hates them. They've barely made it back to the ship and even that isn't safe. They're trapped. They feel tiny compared to the horror around them. Everything has gone wrong.
And Pilot has built the weapon. And worse, most perverse, it uses Moya's starburst.
In the first episode, the premier, we are told that Leviathans have only one defensive maneuver. No weapons, nothing offensive. But they can starburst, teleport randomly away out of danger. They can run. That's why Talyn is so jarring, and why this, this wormhole weapon, is so terrible even before it's fired. John put a gun on a Leviathan. He's committed the same crime as Crais.
And then. And then.
It starts so small, is the thing. It starts small and there's a visible air of disappointment. So small and the war is so big. But John isn't disappointed or surprised. He's just tired. He knows exactly what's coming. Here's another John Crichton speech, round and round and round it goes.
When the Eidolon descendant makes that little gasp and says, "My world...", that broke my heart. Because we all know that it was already destroyed. Hell, Aeryn just gave birth in a burning temple, her world was already a battlefield. But the wormhole weapon touches it and you see the planet itself crumble.
And it'll keep going. It will consume everything, this world, this living ship, this battlefield, this entire war. We felt so small at the beginning of this and now everyone is small. The wormhole weapon is the war. It's the consumption of everything. It's so big and what are you compared to it.
Maybe that's it. The weapon is the war. It is how Moya couldn't escape the battle cruisers and now no one can escape it's gravity. It's how D'argo died and now anyone can die. It finished the job of crumbling a planet. It is so big and so was the war.
And neither will end until everyone agrees to.

I was surprised that my solutions didn't crystallize over the past week to which my thesis supervisor said lightheartedly that it's normal and that he once waited for something to crystallize for THREE YEARS. I hope my solutions know I need to graduate some day.

Thinking about how in season 2, the Doctor asked Rose "How long are you going to stay with me?" He could have asked her that in so many ways. "How long do you want to travel with me?" "When do you want to go home?" But he chose those words specifically. And Rose could have answered in just as many ways. "As long as I live." "As long as you'll have me." But instead she said one word. "Forever."
And the sad thing is that her answer was truer than any other answer she could have given. Because whether she realized it or not she wasn't saying how long they would be together. She was telling him how long she would be with him. As a memory, as a ghost, in his hearts. No matter who the Doctor is or how old they get, somewhere deep inside their soul, Rose will remain. Forever.
