the thing about Jason. Is that even if he’d survived Ethiopia. Even if he’d never even gone to Ethiopia. He would’ve stayed himself - in the sense that the disagreement between Batman and Red Hood began long before Ethiopia. I think the thing about Jason is that the death, the revival, none of it mattered much; that he was a sweet kid, that he was an angry kid, all of that didn’t matter because something in Jason directly opposes something else in Bruce. It’s easy to pin point Jason’s death as the cause of why “everything went wrong” between them, but that’s not really the truth.

Yesterday the TA for my history of health and the environment course got up in front of the class to say we'd be getting our prospectuses for our final paper back today, and that about a third of the class really needed to refine theirs because the ideas they'd turned in were too broad or undefined for a 10-page paper.
Which made me nervous, because she specifically mentioned folks proposing covering 200 years' worth of history, and I'd focused mine on both the 16th and 17th centuries. So I was convinced I'd gotten a poor grade on the assignment and would need to talk with her about my plans.... until I actually got mine back today and saw she'd given me a perfect score on it, because I'd explained my research plans thoroughly enough. So now instead of having to grapple with doing poorly on an assignment (the worst), I'm grappling with my TA apparently thinking my research skills are refined enough that I can tackle things other students maybe can't (strange, baffling).
And then, on top of all that, at the train station I ran into one of the folks from the center for premodern studies at school who said I should send them an email because they're inviting a few undergrads to come along to a printing event they're doing at a local book arts place and they apparently want me to be one of them?
All of which is really kicking my imposter syndrome in the gut, which given that I was really feeling it yesterday is nice, but also a little jarring if I'm being honest. What if I was good at things and people recognized that I was good at things. What then.

So - what with 14, and the curator, and stuff, we have more than established that the doctor can regenerate into an earlier face. And so far, they've been visually older than the original incarnation, because... that's how aging works, the actor gets older.
But what if we had a future doctor who was a visually younger doctor - one particular incarnation in particular. Someone who is referred to both with a number and a name (its one. if you haven't got that. like young adult one it would be awesome.)
Please I would love it if the doctor regenerates, and the actor is on the younger side, and sure! That's happened several times before, like put them at a similar age as Matt Smith and Peter Davidson. They're blond. So? They've been blond before, no reason to suspect anything.
I'm imagining that not long after the regeneration, they encounter the Master. Well... all "not long" matters as to be "they haven't looked in a mirror yet." So you get the Master, all ready to do Master-things, when they look and they're suddenly staring into a pair of eyes that look just like they did when they were in those fields of red grass together, graduates, official time lords. Those same blond, loose curls (i love the fanon designs they're great.) He's looking into a face that is identical to a ~140 year old Theta Sigma and the Doctor doesn't even know.

hey ghost! maroon is my roman empire and I just love it 🥲 i wondered how long eddie & sugar were together before…well it all went wrong? and how old they’re meant to be now?
hiya!! first of all i'm honored that maroon is your roman empire <3 thank you!!!
and oh boy. let's get ourselves comfortable.
so in my mind, and i may have previously written it differently somewhere in the fic but i can't recall so please don't come for me, they first met back in high school. logistics wise, the more i think about it, the more likely it would have been that it was eddie's first senior year/sugar's junior year. right before corroded coffin was formed, and long enough that they spent a few years together in school before sugar could take a year off and wait for eddie to graduate so they could move to new york together. that would mean they were 17/18 when they met, and then probably 21/22 when the ending of the og one shot/prologue happened. so they were together around 4 years!
as of right now, with that timeline, they'd be around 23/24 years old!
that took so much more math than i expected, oh my word. but yeah! early twenties, which is the prime time to be going through the type of relationship drama they're going through lol
