the people who know about this sort of thing can see the signs but theres no way to know exactly what will go down, or when

use the blog backup button in the settings menu and download your blog. the fact that tumblr even lets you do this is incredible

the tumblr backup file is a big fat nested zip that looks like this. mine was huge. ihavent opened the inner zips yet so im not sure what format they are but the media folder is really just a stack of jpgs and [ngs etc. pretty cool

tumblr will eventually shut down. you should back up your posts. EVERY WEBSITE EVENTUALLY SHUTS DOWN

however the way websites shut down is not something people usually know about in advance, nor is it something that gets planned-upon in general. there is no possibility of anyone involved knowing what's going to happen or when, except that you absolutely cannot depend upon any third party to manage your data for you. your blog is data. back it up regularly

you will almost certainly not receive a warning like "tumblr is out of money and will be closing in 90 days". usually what happens is the site owner sells it to someone who then strips it for parts. Livejournal for example was sold to a russian corporation that turned it into, basically, grazing land for spambots. the site never even shut down, it's still running, its just unusable. i mean you can still post on it, everyone's old blogs are still there. but no one does, because it's just a wasteland full of bots. that's the kind of thing that usually happens to social networks, not "we're deleting this entire website tomorrow your shit is GONE" type thing.

the reason the I Know How Internet Works type people KEEP posting warnings about tumblr being at the end of its natural lifespan is because we've seen this before, we recognize the signs, and we know what to do next. but there's no way to pinpoint dates or know in advance if tumblr is just going to slowly collapse or if the servers will actually go down or if someone will mangle it into a different kind of website etc. the site will eventually "die", but what that means isnt specific, and until it's about to happen no one will have any kind of timeline on when tumblr finally tips over into dead website territory, and no one will agree on exactly whether tumblr is dead or not either. the timeline for this death process--once it starts in earnest which arguably tumblr hasnt yet--is also really variable. sometimes its weeks, sometimes its years.

so yes, you should be worried about your data, you should be worried about your data all the time, especially if someone else is controlling it. if you care about ANY data, back it up yourself. if you let someone else control your data, you will lose it permanently. this is true of everything, not just tumblr, and not just websites, everything

im super wishy-washy on whether i want that to commit to that being the end, but it certain is an end. Because theres a build up that leads into lana being ovidias end that i feel needs to be mentioned first

as i think more on ovidia as a person and their history, a lot of it shapes their perception on a perfect life including a "perfect" family and i think they end up subconsciously projecting a lot of it onto Lana and she does try to mold herself into this image of a perfect child for her Baba

but because ovidia isnt being truthful about even to themself about why they do what they "have to" whether its leading their followers the way they with a lot of manipulation and making them believe in this image of a perfect Mother and family that they've carefully curated, or even how they specifically talk to and treat their children and why there is almost a clear sense of favoritism that is kind of always there

this denial is also the reason their ascension is slow and unpleasant, because a process that would not normally take more than maybe a century or two to even begin is being stretched out because theyre actively fighting the crown against it. it isnt apart of their plan, of ovidias plan. so any changes that come from ascending are painful and slow and its entirely because ovidia is so deep in denial of their true self

they dont want to think theyre playing favorites, and its not obvious to anyone but Narinder at first that they view the kids very differently from each other and while hes tries to talk about it ovidia just has a way of icing him out because they just flat out will not admit it.

and this is the point i realized that there are two diverging paths for them, and if they accept and realize where it comes from and why theyre doing this they have the capacity to at least start to mend the damage theyve made which at that point wouldnt be until Lana is already an older child (like 10-12)

or they never address it and never change, they stagnate in their ability to ascend and unbeknownst to them, the crown had always taken a liking to Lana and her innate interest in death and murder, and naturally has been putting thoughts into that childs head for longer than ovidia would have guessed

and it wouldnt be until lana is older, and is acknowledged by her baba to be a grown and capable person that its basically the final nail in the coffin. Lanas mental check list is finished for the developmental part of her own life, now all thats left is to become an usurper, just like their idol!

okay so i lied abt being done talking abt ro. cause the thing is i dont doubt that he has people who care for him, im not saying that nobody cares— if he asked his team, zam, mapicc, or like derap to play the server w him theyd do it. if he were banned, zam would revive him bc i dont think jumper or rek have the materials to do so. but i still consider him alone bc whenever he is able to login its just him. which is the entire issue, i think.

and i actually. think thats smt mapicc understands abt him, and i dont know if anyone else does. cause ro doesnt LIKE being alone, he doesnt like playing the server alone, he likes following his friends around and doing things w them for the sake of being around them— which is why him being w rek and jumper is a bit difficult for someone like him imo. theyre very independent teammates and enjoy doing their own projects, but ro likes doing projects WITH people and spending time together, which is why he seems so isolated from even his own teammates to me. and i think thats what mapicc meant when he was defending ro by pointing out that rek and jumper arent active, even though theyre considerably more active than ro himself is.

like i know im yapping a lot abt such a small piece of dialogue, but i thought of all of this bc of mapicc saying "Where is his team, y'know? // Yeah but where?"

the entire reason im talking sm is bc people (on the server at least) seem to think he does so much with/for mapicc in s5 and s6 simply bc its mapicc and no other reason at all— and while yes, its true that ro is very attached to him— i also think part of it is bc in both s5 and s6 his teams were there. but they also werent. not in the way ro needed them to be.

they werent there in the way ro needed them to be bc they dont know how he works or what exactly it is he wants/needs in a team like mapicc seems to. ro being so willing to turn his back on seemingly anyone for mapicc isnt JUST bc of bias even if thats a large part of it— its bc mapicc understands how he works in a way others just dont seem to be able to, and he knows how to make sure ro has the most fun in a team yk? like he understands that ro likes to do things together for the fun of it, for the sake of spending time together regardless of the outcome bc a big thing for mapicc is spending time together as well.

its why i think ro immediately went to mapicc abt pentar wanting him, and offered to help in the war despite having very little he CAN do w how poor he is on the server. it was finally something he could do w other people (people he already knows he has fun w, at that!!) even if it was a war he realistically knew very little abt and had like no stakes in. bc he likes being involved and working w other people a lot, but theres nobody he really has to do that with yet this season bc his teammates are busy, his friends have other people, and hes too busy to be able to play enough to find new people he could work on things with.

I’m getting kinda feral about Ryuki today so I wanna bring up something else

Since the entire Ryuki side of the story is pretty much just everything he tells Mizuki about what happened 6 years ago, this begs the question: is his summary including the parts that are from the future, or is this just a writing error?

It’d make sense if it was just an error like. First off if Ryuki could see the future that’d be a whole mess, plus the future he’s seeing here isn’t even in the right timeline, it’s all what happens on the B side. Plus, the whole twist of not knowing what the proper timeline is is already a pretty iffy twist because it’s only a twist to the player, not to the characters. Since it’s kinda flimsy to begin with, I can see how the writers could’ve just completely fucking forgotten to fix the Ryuki side to make sense with this twist. They kinda forgot about Ryuki a lot in the second half of the game after all and a lot of the writing around him is messy as hell so I can believe it

But, let’s pretend this all WAS intentional, that Ryuki DID include information about the future in his story to Mizuki. This would go perfectly with the idea that Ryuki is a frayer and that he’s being haunted by knowledge from the past and future and is incapable of distinguishing the two. It’s already true that Ryuki has trouble telling what year it is (during the practice launch on the Mizuki side we see Ryuki in a trance waiting for Shoma to get off the ferris wheel even though that’s an event that happened 6 years ago, Ryuki makes constant references to Date being disappointed in him,etc) so it’d make sense if he got his wires majorly crossed when telling Mizuki what he remembers about the case from 6 years ago. If this is the case, then Ryuki’s powers can extend across not just past and future, but also multiple timelines

It’s not like Ryuki is the only one with this power. Date remembers when he was hospitalized in the Mizuki route during the true ending and gets confused about why he’s remembering things that never happened. Mizuki is able to remember Jin being referred to as the almighty despite her not hearing about it in that timeline. But it is interesting that Ryuki is the only one who seems to be plagued by his knowledge. The other two protagonists will be just kinda weirded out by their ability to know things that didn’t happen, but they recover pretty quickly. Ryuki though, he doesn’t know what timeline he’s in and he’s constantly speaking and thinking in riddles and drowning himself in liquor to forget everything and is only able to function in the A side BECAUSE the somnium failed and he wasn’t able to remember tearer’s true identity

Basically Ryuki cursed with evil timeline powers and it makes me wonder if he’s an unreliable narrator on purpose or on accident and honestly, I don’t know if I wanna know

Had an epiphany last night and I haven’t seen anyone talk about this (maybe because it could be just so obvious no one felt the need to but shhh) but look here at the veeeery beginning of the aini flowchart

We got the Ryuki somnium as the first split and as we know, this split happens based on whether or not you (or ryuki in this case) know the name of Tearer. You can only get the Mizuki side of the story if you have played the Ryuki side and have heard Tearer’s name. The somnium will also be much more complex and dangerous

So essentially on the B side, the psync is unsuccessful. Mizuki doesn’t really help Ryuki, and she barely learns anything about the hb case. Ryuki is left in the same mentally unstable state he was before, and he can’t hold a conversation without babbling and laughing maniacally. This leaves Mizuki to do her investigation without any of the past help at all, which is how the true route of the story is supposed to go

This isn’t anything new, we know this. What I do wanna revisit is the A side, where Ryuki doesn’t remember Tearer. The psync is actually successful and the results are significantly different than the B side. Ryuki sobers up and is able to tell Mizuki everything that happened to him 6 years ago. So basically the Ryuki route (the parts from 6 years ago) is everything that he’s telling to Mizuki

This means that there’s a whole separate version of the story in this timeline where Mizuki learns everything about the past, including what happened to Date. And what’s getting me feral about this is. How did the investigation proceed afterwards??? Did the two of them work together to finish the case? Did Mizuki get a chance to mourn Date? Did she lash out at Ryuki? Did Ryuki even mention his involvement with Tearer or Bibi’s existence at all? How would everything had changed if they worked together?

hi this is my first tumblr post but i really wanted a good place to put this

spoilers for all of current limbus company, including Murder on the warp Express, the Don Quixote book (( kinda )), and a musical (( i'll get there ))

please humor this deranged rant about a character i havent read the source book of

so basically ive had a theory since Don was even teased that she's less so based on book Don Quixote and moreso based on the Man of La Mancha musical which is. an insane thing to suggest but hear me out here (( ive since changed how i word my stance to the much more mild "it will most likely delve into the themes of both works and reference both" because suggesting they would discount the book entirely is TRUE insanity ))

her quote (( from teaser tweets that i cannot find anymore? they seem like they were deleted which sucks )) was "To reach the unreachable star!" or something which is notably not a quote from the original book ((as far as im aware at least?)), and suggests. a lot i think!

One of the most notable differences between Man of La Mancha and the original Don Quixote is their tone and attitude towards Quixote. In the original text, he's shown to be a fool who is ignorant to the vastly more interesting world around him, and prefers to instead sink deeper into his delusions of reality equating to chivalric literature. This makes sense as Don Quixote was written as a parody and mockery of the genre

La Mancha is, notably, much more forgiving on Quixote's character, showing that while still a fool, and his insanity often detrimental to those around him, he is still a good person at heart and that he truly wishes to pursue this justice he posits

I usually say it as "Don Quixote is about how reality is beautiful, and La Mancha is about how sometimes one should strive to make reality a little more fantastical" although i dont know if that. is the most accurate comparison. both Don Quixote and La Mancha have a lot of themes and stuff going on

one of the things that made me scream was learning about "Miguel" being written on don's LCB combat spritesheet instead of her listed name

which if you've seen or read a summary of la mancha is a huge alarm bell

In La Mancha, the whole thing is shown as a Play within a Play

Miguel de Cerventes is sent to prison, awaiting trial by the inquisition, and is tasked with defending himself in a mock trial with the other prisoners so they dont take his belongings. His defense is Don Quixote, Man of La Mancha! With the prisoners acting out the various roles he assigns them, and him acting as the leading man, Don Quixote himself!

that was most of the things that made me think "Oh, maybe it'll be La Mancha!" and then this happened

because like what if this is miguel... what if shes simultaneously playing out her life as don quixote as a her delusion, and as her dream, but also as a statement...

idk but this isnt JUST about Man of La Mancha bc i think this has a few implications for how don's canto is going to go

The final thing they try is setting up an act where a "Knight of Mirrors" duels with Quixote, which ends up working.

The Knight forces Quixote to see how he is perceived by others, to see the truth that he is no knight.

ignoring the stuff with vampires and mirrors for a second, i feel like this could be more mirror world shenanigans, where either the knight IS a mirror world don quixote, or is someone who will show her mirror worlds. Whatever that will imply!!! i dont know its exciting!!!!!

Her being absurdly old and powerful, plus bloodfiends having a whole familial adjacent hierarchy makes me think theres a LOT of bloodfiends out there that would want her back

Do you have a recommendation for a specific book of your work for folks who showed up for your Bg3 stuff? (Also if you read the parts out of order would that be an issue?)

as i said in my other post over here, im predominantly an extreme horror artist! i 100% decline to call myself an eroguro artist because personally i dont find the kind of gore & horror i do particularly erotic, but im super fascinated with the horrors of the body & the darkness of the general human experience, so thats the kind of stuff i tend to make. it isnt the worst most heinous Ever you'll find out there, but im fully aware that it's A Lot, so everything i make with @meanbossart is thoroughly warned for so nobody goes into our body of work unaware & gets a nasty shock.

bg3 in particular goes some pretty dark routes (some bits in a dark urge run even made me kinda reel back and go "jesus"), so id say for people coming in from bg3 your mileage may heavily vary. if torture & really extreme body horror doesnt bother you, you may be OK with SAD SACK (sus.space/sadsack) and its current wip sequel SORTIE (sus.space/sortie), but i would still recommend reading each book's individual content warnings thoroughly before choosing to spend any money. (everything is paywalled to further deter minors.) if you're on the fence about how much horror content is too much for you, or if you're curious about these titles but find the content warnings to be concerning, my DMs on tumblr+twitter and my IMs are always open if you have any questions about particular CWs or even need specific page numbers so you can either skip that bit of gore or be informed enough to approach the page number(s), take a Deep breath, and proceed when youre ready! for these 2 titles in particular, unfortunately they do have a linear story, so to fully grasp what's going on requires reading the books in order. again if it's something youre curious to the point of wanting to try but on the fence about, i am always welcoming of inquiring DMs to help make the experience thrilling + chilling but Not genuinely upsetting.

if you're OK with a little violence and body horror but not as splatterfest as these titles, im currently chipping away at the preliminaries for my giant project LOVOS4017 (lovos4017.the-comic.org) which is a love letter to TNG scifi and 80s cyberpunk anime. im currently on pause with the roughs since last year due to COVID frontline burnout, but ive by no means abandoned it; this IP is my baby that ive been workshopping the show bible for for over a decade & i want to see it through to the end B)

majority of his identity, his mask, is tied to masculinity. he doesnt want to lose that, as its the only solid part of himself he knows.

it’s what he remembers. hes on a constant search for the man he used to be, the man he thinks he was, to distract on how he actually feels in the present.

he doesnt want to lose that side of himself in fear of change, in fear of losing what little he has of his identity again. but what he fails to understand is that he doesnt have to keep clinging to it.

he'll still always have it, just as he'll always have other parts of himself as well. the mask isnt all he is, but he doesnt know how to deal without having it. the mask is what others like. the mask is the self he likes, the one that keeps him safe. and the mask isnt entirely fake, its just that those parts of him are just being used in the wrong way. its also the way the animal side of him is referred to. ‘not a man’. im aware its used an emotional metaphor, but it has potential for a trans metaphor too. he feels different and doesnt have the words to explain it. being Man is what he knows to choose over the animal, knowing he needs to keep that over whats inside. especially after the memory loss, he wants to hold onto that more ‘human’ side of himself. to hold onto ‘Logan’. not only is he presenting exactly as hes always known Logan to be, hes presenting as everyone else has always known him. he already struggles with accepting others can even tolerate him for his problems, and doesnt wanna risk changing something as big as his identity. when u dont feel solid, when u dont understand ur own feelings, u attach yourself to whatever solid thing u can. except, what if that solid self wasnt really you either? i think a lot of this realization would come from remembering who he was before weapon x, before the wars, and realizing the Logan version of himself that hes been trying to hold onto isnt as genuine to who he is as he thought. he didnt know himself then either. even further back, childhood, before anything bad happened...he lacked that sense of toughness. he had a happy carefree spirit. its closer to being real, but still, a child also hasnt developed yet. and the realization hits that the selves in his past arent what hes supposed to be looking for. thats something youre supposed to keep defining as you change and learn as you age, and hes definitely done a lotta aging since then. if you dont have a proper grasp on how u feel, the person youre perceiving yourself to be isnt gonna be entirely true. the immortality concept hits next. how other people get a time limit to discover themselves, while his is never ending. theres no finish line, no final self, which would likely freak him out a bit at first. and due to his spiritual side, i think he'd have a long journal sesh about this topic. like, what is 'self' if you peel back all the layers and find it? then what? would you still stay the same? or would you be cursed to be forever changing and evolving?....thing is, your core doesnt really change much. just the outer parts, like opinions and interests and ways of presenting. those are meant to change forever, while your core sticks with you. so whats his core feel like?

he can do anything he wants, and all the time to do it. why keep limiting himself?....what does he even want? or rather, what does he want now? 'anything' is a pretty large category of things to choose from. hes never really had to choose much before. surely he cant like everything, everyones got some kinda preference. but he doesnt need to do a complete ego death and give up everything thats interested him in the past, just reevaluate what things he still resonates with, and what things he's been repressing. so, he goes out and starts practicing, to search for who he is in the moment, rather than the past. searching for his future. its hard at first, breaking out of that small box in order to allow new things and conflicting interests. if he didnt have to be just Man, what would that person enjoy? i think over the years of accepting his mutantness, he's also grown to like the way his body looks, and would lean towards revealing clothes to show it off. (but its not just his clothes, he'd be seeking out other things that his toxic masculinity has restricted him from as well obv). and after accepting that he'll still look and act exactly the same no matter what he wears, he'd probably get into all kinds of styles, feminine masculine casual fancy, whatever, to make up for wearing the same stuff for basically a century. i only use transfem as a way to describe the direction he went from moving his gender away from masculinity, but he'd probably fw identifying as unlabeled(to represent his goal of defining himself by the present moment and accepting change)(but also if he knew about neogenders he'd probably be like 'my gender is feral type mutant', as well as still being a bit of a guy)(as ‘guy’ has a lot less pressure than Man) its true that its important to remember parts of your past, of what make you You, but only as a stepping stone to lead into who you’ll be in the future, or else you’ll forever just be stuck in the past as an incomplete person. sure, a person is never forever complete, but they can be someone in the moment, which can get clearer over time the more you experience being yourself. letting yourself be influenced by emotions, reactions, and the world around you, not restricting to be just a fixed mask or defined certain labels. as the caged animal metaphor implies, thats exactly what his identity is. caged. his striving to be a Man, used in the way of meaning Mankind, taken the wrong manner and caging himself within the perceived views of men, rather than in the human way. to be human is to define yourself, not to be defined by others. by not allowing the animal out, in fear of being defined by it, he unknowingly is still forcing himself to be defined by what he thinks those around him expect of him. he isnt just caging the animal, hes caging himself.

authors note: i have a long history and complex relationship with my identity, not knowing if i should return to who i was or keep trying to craft someone new, having constant on and off body dysphoria. i see a lot of people who resonate with wolverines butchness and potential to be ftm, but i had a basically the opposite reaction. i already had his exact body type upon becoming a fan of him(short, incredibly hairy, bushy eyebrows that i would shave out of hatred, and parts of me arguing over wanting to keep my sideburns or not). i wanted to embrace my prettiness, parts of me feeling more on the girl side, but other parts liked the socially viewed ‘masc’ things about my body, especially tied into my more ‘masc’ acting attitude....my guy sides and girl sides were at war. how could i have both? i wanted everything, but didnt know how, didnt know if it’d be ok....

from the first time i saw him(in x1), i didnt see a Man, i didnt see him as butch. i saw him as pretty. almost like a girl, but in the way parts me felt sorta like a girl. it was like it was telling me ‘you can be both. you can be all your contradicting parts, bcuz this guy can too. these dont have to be seen as masculine things if you dont want to see them that way. and when youre older, this is what you’ll look like. you’ll be ok.’

instead of being body goals like a lot of trans fans experienced for him, he was my body acceptance.

+ get to see a broad cast of characters in an environment we don't otherwise get to see them in, revealing hidden depths and nuances + some of if not the best character and story writing in all of kingdom hearts - um a couple characters say some lowkey misogynist stuff and unlike saix degendering xion i dont think the misogyny is intended to be hated i think its intended to be true or funny. shrugs. eueughh. + new take on the kingdom hearts equipment/battle mehcanics that IMO gels really well with the characters being villains or "villain-coded", turning things like desperation moves into an actual mechanical reality for the player - in this game it's not called the Ultima Gear it's called the UltimaTE Gear for some godforsaken reason + slow excruciating emotional trainwreck where every drop of dread is given ample time to sink in until the final devastating moments - the worlds being interlaced with each other makes sense from a story/mechanical perspective but it does mean that theres much less of a sense of progression in each world and forward momentum in general, all of the story progression comes from the interpersonal relationships with the characters which as stated above is rather slow + every scene and interaction with demyx - it's pronounced Three Five Eight Days Over Two + [any number of lines xigbar says in this game that i could put here that would tell on myself way too much. dont worry about it. dont worry about it] - the enemies despawn when they get a certain distance away from their spawn location and when they respawn they have full health which isnt usually an issue because most of the battle locations are pretty small but there are some maps that are really needlessly huge and contain enemies that move quickly and randomly and teleport long distances and so even if you do your best and try to kill them quickly you have to use specific strategies in order to make sure they actually die before they RESPAWN with FULL HEALTH i mean what the FUCK— + m,y paneuls :o)

im not exactly sure if this is a system thing but im questioning and i wanted to know if any systems relate to this?

for as long as i can remember ever since i was a kid ive kind of always talked to myself out loud, i remember this happening since i was at least 7 i think but idk for sure. i only do it when im alone. i talk quietly, almost whispering to myself as if im talking to an entirely different person whos sitting next to or behind me even though no one is physically there, i can have entire conversations in my head with these people who arent physically there. it also feels like im over exaggerating my feelings and my tone of voice and expressions when i do this despite never remembering what im talking about. when this happens i dont usually realize it for a while and when i finally do i stop and then kinda forget about it, but not actually, the memory of me talking is still there just not the subject, thats what it feels like at least which is probably how im able to write about it now. i usually just move on with my day after and i cant control what i think or say or do because like i said i dont realize im doing this until i stop doing it.

does this make any sense? is this a system thing or is it something else entirely??? do other systems or other people in general ever do this? i know for sure it isnt a normal thing

Before i answer this question, i asked one of my friends, and two strangers to let me know their thoughts and the end result is: they all said no. It is not something in general people do apparently.

And yes, it is true,, this doesn't sound like a normal thing in general. To me, this sounds like a system thing,, because you had shown clear points such as talking to, as if, there's someone; show poor ability to recall stuffs happening; to an extent, not being able to control over what you think, do and say. This is also similar to how my experience looks like before realizing theres a word for it.

With this realization, i would like you to read a couple sources from the internet or scroll around the system community to see if you can relate.

Plus, look out for signs such as, experiencing bouts of dissociation, or changing your handwriting/typing style, hearing people say that you're inconsistent with your words/answers/opinions, often forgetful, have many unexplained gaps of your days or general memories, and sometimes think you are a completely different person. As my last request for you.

After you've done this, you may conclude your answer and consider wether you're a system or not,, oh plus you might want to type the important stuffs down incase you forget or whatnot. Anyway, good luck and let me know if you need more help/want to share updates!

I was watching naruto vs sasuke on storm Connections and damn it really is better then all boruto tbv

It is, the the plotline of connections isnt even all that original or grounbreaking, its hella flawed too and reuses alot of Naruto concepts despite being a Boruto centered story...which just goes to show you how BORUTOS story is so uninteresting that they had to take OG concepts from Naruto [new Uchiha lore, focus on a new more interesting Uchiha from the past cuz Sarada is so neglected and uninteresting, Pain worshiper, Naruto vs Sasuke, a new war] instead of working with any of the Boruto story because lets be honest...WHAT story? when you really think about it nothing is really going on in the Boruto story, theres no direction, no intrigue, no personal or deep conflicts etc.

You know why Naruto vs Sasuke hits while Boruto vs Kawaki doesnt? because there was extensive build up of their bond, their rivalry, their conflict, and reconciliation, so when you saw the roles reversed with Naruto and Sasuke in Connections, it hits HARD because you know just how far Naruto went to save Sasuke against all odds and everyone calling him a fool he never gave up on him, now that role is switched to Sasuke, and now he gets to be in Narutos shoes fighting his best friend trying to snap him out of it, and he even repeats the same words Naruto said to him which hit so hard because we KNOW just how HUGE of an impact those words had on Sasuke when Naruto said them after their final fight, they literally brought Sasuke to tears.

Compare that to the role reversal goin on in Boruto, you remember the hype from this panel right?

Oh the hype was strong in this one, atleast from those still invested in the series up till this point, this was CRAZY right? the endless possibilities, expectations were through the roof, and what happened? what was done with that potential? absolutely NOTHING

This panel is the equivalent of Gohan telling Buu he's not gonna fight him, he's gonna kill him, only for him then to fumble the entire fight, top 5 hardest lines in the series thrown right out the window with zero pay off, this panel is literally that because it went NOWHERE.

Its honestly ASTONISHING how much this concept has been wasted, and I personally despise it but hey, even if I personally dont like the approach I could still appreciate it if it was atleast executer properly and actually done well, its not like omnipotence couldnt have been used for some great conflict, character building, character development, Boruto really could've grown alot from this and understood his ignorance and priviledge all this time he'd taken for granted, understanding the loneliness and life full of hate hes had to live all his life, for Boruto this is only temporary and forced to be directed at him, but for Kawaki this was REAL nobody MADE ppl hate him they actually DID

Boruto knows everything their saying to his, feeling for him, thinking of him is actually towards Kawaki, these feelings arent fabricated these are ppls REAL feelings towards Kawaki, and Borutos only had to endure this for 3 years of his life while 12 were full of happiness and love, but for Kawaki this was his life for OVER A DECADE, and even with the 3 years that have passed since the brainwashing Kawaki is STILL going through it because everytime ppl hate Boruto around him, scorn Boruto, wish he were dead, call him an ungrateful traitor, he knows their talking about HIM

So even though hes technically taken Borutos place being loved by everybody, he KNOWS that THESE are their true feelings about him, so while Boruto has only lived Kawakis hell for 3 years, Kawaki has lived it nonstop, he cant even escape it back at 'home' because its not even his home fr, its his prison with Ada and her little brother who constantly taunts him about how he'll eventually be exposed as a liar and how he unlike Ada doesnt care what happens to him, just reaffirming what he already thought and believed about himself to begin with.

That nobody would care or miss him, nor mourn his death, but be happy to rid that 'garbage' from the world. And Shikamaru and everyone who appeared in chapter 78 proved him correct.

So you would think that Boruto, now in Kawaki's shoes, experiencing what Kawaki's experienced his whole life

You'd think he'd have a moment of reflection and actually get where Kawaki is coming from, he obviously wont know how he feels exactly because they still had totally different upbringings but atleast he gets the gist of it now that he's in his shoes, so you'd think we'd have him reflecting on that much the most we get is this.

This was a good start, he acknowledged his screw ups and how his playing down of the situation lead to this, his ignorance from being so blessed blinding him to Kawaki's perspective, that it was easy for him to just go on like everything would be ok but thats not the way Kawaki saw it, he never asked how KAWAKI was feeling or what KAWAKI was going through, he only yelled at him for being 'stupid' instead of LISTENING to him and actually HEARING what he's saying. He's given Boruto glimpses multiple times of what he was thinking and feeling, but everytime Boruto downplayed it, just brushed it off as them just needing to train and get stronger and just have faith that his dad could handle it and if they just get strong enough too then it'll all work out too, BUT THAT WAS NOT REALITY and Kawaki pointed out why it wasnt, but he went ignored.

The only one who didnt just blindly yell at him was Mitsuki, HE is the ONLY ONE who ASKED Kawaki and LISTENED to what he had to say, and he was the only one open to doing things his way as well, but Boruto and Sarada unfortunately, so blindly follow Naruto's idealistic views, did NOT listen to him or hear him here, instead they both accused him of going too far with too extreme logic, when really he was just being realistic.

So It was good seeing Boruto acknowledge everything I pointed out about how we got here, it left things off where we would hopefully see Boruto have a whole new perspective towards Kawaki and how he'd approach reasoning and getting through to him from this point on, there was alot of potential now for some really interesting interactions and-

Ima save you the reading time and just spoil it, nothing came from this, if anything he listens to Kawaki even LESS now than he did before and have become even MORE arrogant and dismissive of him.

Im gonna take a stab in the dark and say in an effort to try and make Boruto DIFFERENT from Naruto in trying to save Sasuke, they made him actually looking for a fight, he doesnt want peace with Kawaki, he wants problems first and THEN peace afterwards

Twice he says his goal is to knock sense into Kawaki and then reconcile, which is the opposite of Naruto, he WANTED to talk things out but knew he couldnt and had no choice but to fight, but Boruto WANTS to fight and THEN reconcile which is...a choice, but not a good one to try and distinguish him from Naruto with because it just simply doesnt make sense.

If his goal is to make this a mere quarrel between siblings, not brother killing brother, then why would he NOT try to resolve things without violence with him? why withhold information? why taunt him? talk down to him? treat him like a nuisance? act as if you dont even WANT to deal with him in the first place? threaten to chop off his danm arm just for asking VALID questions?

if you wanna make this just a brothers quarrel then hes doing a terrible danm job of it because hes just making Kawaki look even MORE justified in wanting to kill him, which makes no sense even in the context of protecting him from being exposed because it was him and Kawaki alone most of the time, Delta seeing Boruto show Kawaki some humility wouldnt have affected shit, all it does is let her see Boruto treat Kawaki like he actually cares about him, that does literally NO harm to Kawaki's image because ppl knew Boruto and Kawaki cared about eachother already anyway, regardless of what 'Boruto' did to Naruto that doesnt erase everything that happened between them before that

Even if we throw all that aside and say no ppl dont think they care about eachother and that Boruto supposedly just turned on them all now, NOBODY WAS AROUND at some of interactions that he has to pretend for, as I said Delta means nothing, Kawaki was one on one with Boruto after he told the others to leave while he confronted him with Code, he again wasnt around anyone when he confronted him again when it was just him and Delta, so why did Boruto still put on the tough guy act? I get they had other important matters to get to but Boruto is able to walk and chew gum at the same time, so if he wanted to show some compassion to Kawaki then he could have but he DOESNT.

And thats why storm connections take on the role reversal plot is leagues better than Boruto's because there is just NOTHING to it, chapter 80 HINTED that they were going to start building more on it and doing something interesting but instead they just make Boruto discount Sasuke and gave him a completely OOC edgelord persona, which is crazy that their trying to make him like Sasuke WHEN THIS IS HOW SASUKE ACTS IN HIS EXACT POSITION AND ITS NOTHING LIKE THAT [8:26-13:55]

You will NEVER see the same kind of emotion with Boruto and Kawaki as you saw here with Naruto and Sasuke, and thats largely because its not written by Kishimoto and it shows

Whereas Naruto and Sasuke werent ever adopted or raised together like siblings yet still saw eachother as such anyway, Boruto and Kawaki actually lived together and were treated both as Narutos sons, Boruto and Hima acknowledged him as their brother, Kawaki was considered family by the Uzumaki fam, so this situation should have even MORE emotional weight than Naruto and Sasuke who were bitter friends/rivals, Boruto and Kawaki were family, and yet their entire conflict is emotionless, dull, forced, and uninteresting to watch unfold.

But to be fair Ikemoto did fk them over a bit because Naruto and Sasuke atleast knew of eachother for years, and then spent a whole year with eachother as teammates whereas Boruto and Kawaki spent less than a year together so yea, great way to really prevent this plot from hitting as hard as it could have if you werent rushing literally EVERYTHING and giving them no room to settle but it is what it is sadly.

The only saving grace is Ikemoto implying Kawaki is gonna get more development in the future but I wont hold my breath on that because he also said Sarada and Sasuke's future would be interesting, and we all saw how that turned out, yea bein off screened by Code and Sarada barely reacting to the news of it sure was interesting ._. peak fiction.

The Connections game should have NEVER came out because it just puts how severely lacking Ikemoto's attempts at these concepts PALE in comparison to the OG, and its not that Boruto and Kawaki CANT measure up its that Ikemoto is an incompetent lazy writer who fails at one of the core things Naruto is known and praised for and thats its EMOTION. The fact that the sequel to Naruto lacks so much EMOTION is fkin insane, its mind boggling how Ikemoto could work with Kishimoto personally and NOT pick up how to add emotion.

Do you realize the last time we've had a real emotional moment in this manga is while Kodachi and Kishimoto was still involved in the writing? and now that it has been taken over entirely written by Ikemoto there has been zero emotion? go back and read the timeskip from the first chapter to now and show me where there was any emotion besides Inojins 'death' that was just used to give Hima a rage moment to awaken Kurama, but Im talking an ACTUAL emotional character moment, or just scene in general, you wont find one despite Boruto being a perceived traitor and Naruto being dead but with no body to even mourn him, and Sasuke siding with said traitor is also just glossed over like nothing nobody even talks about it fr, keep in mind thats Sakura's husband and Sakuras friend [Naruto] and we got zero insight on how shes takin it, or Kakashi, you get the point.

Ikemoto not only doesnt know how to convey emotion well through expression [take a shot everytime Ikemoto just has somebody mean muggin or straight faced oe sweat drop with wide eyes that may or may not be cross eyed] and you'd die of alcohol poisoning pretty quick because hes unexpressive the way Kishimoto was, but he lacks emotion in his writing also, so he lacks in expression AND writing emotion as a whole which is...pathetic for the one writing the sequel to Naruto which is a series FULL of emotion, the fact that writers for a danm non canon VIDEO GAME got this right but Ikemoto the writer for the official sequel to Naruto fails miserably at.

Its sad, but even this flawed game was still written leaps and bounds better than Ikemotos Boruto.

Hi, I'm Georgie and I'm not sure why the universe decided to do this to me…let me explain. I have spent my whole life trying to figure out where i can be myself naturally and fully but when i finally thought i found that space, i was so insanely wrong that i felt stupid. I found Maeve and Grace at different times. I met Maeve about a month after I found this "special place" and i found Grace around a year into doing it. My special place was a stage. I found love for acting and singing and dancing in front of countless people. Theater was my home, and I cherished it the best I could.

It was a mentally stimulating hobby. I got to focus one one specific thing for months on end and it was amazing…until I met Camille, that is. Camille was the epitome of textbook basic bitch. She had long brown hair, big brown eyes and she had a lot of money, courtesy of being related to the mayor, of all people. She went to a private catholic school and was pretty popular there too, from what I had heard from Maeve, who had also gone to the same school for a really long time.

Maeve and Camille were attached at the hip. And sure, I could be projecting my own insecurities into this but to be honest, Camille has never liked me, and I've known that. For almost a year I was a threat to her only lasting friendship she had ever experienced. Especially since she's a toxic bitch and one of the reasons she hates me beyond reasonable doubt is because at that point I had been the only person ever brave enough to call her out on it.

Camille was absolutely, positively a bad person.

Sure I wasn't as talented or experienced as them but at least I tried���Camille, Maeve and Grace started getting closer after about 4 months of me being friends with Grace. Grace had been one of my main confidants. She listened when I told her about my family problems or friendly problems, and I did the same for her. We trusted each other…or so I thought. After we finished with our spring show for the year we had a party where the entire cast was invited. A 'cast party' dare I say…

At this cast party we had nearly the whole cast of the show there, including Maeve, Grace and the one Bitch to rule all Bitches, Camille. I avoided them, for the most part, I had other friends i was allowed to hang out with. One of them being a girl named Livvy. She was sweet and she was good at singing and acting and being a friend. She was good. She was younger than me but so were Maeve, Grace and Camille so what's new?

Livvy was quiet unless with friends, which made me glad to be considered one of hers because I got to know the true Livvy… Sure she could let her slightly chaotic nature show in dramatic bursts but i enjoyed that about her. Livvy reminded me of Camille if she was a good friend or person. Livvy listened but we weren't super close, not like how I was with Maeve or Grace but we were good together, we contrated perfectly and our naturally polite personalities didn't ever clash which was relieveing.

Another girl I'm friends with who was there is Lilly. Her and Livvy had been friends since they were 3. They talk about it a lot, I don't mind it though. It's fun getting to hear about things they've enjoyed doing together for years! It just sometimes makes me sad that I never get close enough to people for them to enjoy my presence or if we do get close enough something, or someone, happens and they don't care anymore. Here's where the story comes in more.

There's another girl to introduce though…her name is Jaqueline. She's small and young and blonde and talented but, just like Camille, she's an asshole.And just like Camille, she hides her bitchyness with talent and sweet talking the older people in her life to get what she wants. Oh and I forgot to add…both Camille and Jaqueline got leads…

I got to the cast party so so so excited to finally get to hang out with Maeve without Camille watching like a hawk but sadly Camille was there, fortunately she was hanging around Jaqueline and a girl named Laila who follows her around everywhere anyway. I finally was able to chill with Maeve and Grace they started walking away or acting like I wasn't even there…shitty thing to do, I know. But it isn't like I need their attention…they are just some of my best friends I have so of course i wanted to hang out with them.

When everyone left the party me and my family were the last ones to leave, like always, and when we had gotten home i got a call from Maeve and it went something like this: "Hey, Georgie! Me and Grace just found out we're cousins!!!" "Uhm, what?" "Me and Grace are fourth cousins!!" "Look, that sounds great but I have a question for you…" "yeah sure, what is it?" "I heard you and grace talking about having a sleepover earlier, is she staying at your house tonight?" "Yeah! why?" "oh, no reason…congratulations on finding out you guys are cousins i guess but i just got home and im exhausted…im gonna go." "ok byeeee"

They met because of me. I created this mess. I've been telling Maeve we should hang out here and there and she's always "busy" but as soon as her and Grace click they're having sleepovers? Bullshit. Absolute bullshit.

Maeve is the one who has said over and over for more than a year that if she didn't have me she wouldn't know what she would do…and then she ignores me on purpose and treats me like I'm nothing but gum on the bottom of her shoe….

Why me? Why make me go through so much just for me to regret every last desicion I've ever made…? Why?

I don't even know how to recover from this stab straight to the heart…what do I do? I've only ever turned to Maeve and Grace for my problems…what do I do now?

ooogh i want to post all my fave haru nemuri songs but thats basically her entire harutosyura album. ill let the demons consume me here we go. cecil mentioned harutosyura so that means i need to listen to the entire album again.

the dissonant sound in this is really nice. its a sound featured throughout the whole album so its fitting that its in the title given track. this song has a lot of unexpected bits, like the sped up parts, and the talking/slow parts. i love how after the talking bit, the guitar and dissonant sound ramps up, and it builds into her usual tone. and it isnt a haru nemuri song without her yelling. this song is really good and representative of her general sound. definitely a good place to start if youre getting into her music. well, i recommend the harutosyura album as a whole as its my favorite from her and has most of my fave songs.

this song is also a very good one representative of haru's sound, with the guitar and yelling. i love the guitar near the very end, its fantastic.

i really like the oooh ooohs and ah ah ahs in this. the ah used as an instrument reminds me of this one yttd song. i like how this song builds up into AH AH AH sekaiwotorikaeshiteokure baby. this album is just banger after banger. the final chorus is the best in my opinion.

this song can fly under the radar since it has less intense instruments, but i love harus raps on it. harus lyrics always sound great.

i love when she has repetition in her songs. heres another dissonant sound but not the same as the first two, its more synthesized. the lyrics on this song flow well and its one of the chiller songs on the album except for the end when it picks up.

i like how fast haru raps, and the insistent tone of her voice. this song has a lot of emotion in it, and i admire how fast haru can rap and have each syllable so distinct.

everybody loves this song. the grungy guitar in the beginning sets a tone for the rest of the song, and then the twang sets in. the chorus is so great, theres some other guy singing which i dont like but i love haru slowly gets louder and louder until shes yelling like usual. and that devolve into screams. if this was live thats the perfect place to smash your guitar on the ground.

this song just fills me with motivation. makes you want to spread your metaphorical wings. a good song to headbang and jump around to.

what i consider the most popular haru nemuri song even though thats probably not true. one of my faves for sure, its a great example of her style and my personal fave off the harutosyura album which is an incredibly difficult decision. i love how her tone builds, from calm, to insistent, to eventually screaming. the repetition is good as well, i love singing along to the distortion distortion distortion. when she screams narashite its my favorite part. i love how her emotions always show in her singing.

literally everything, EVERYTHING until now indicated that nandor didnt give a fuck about guillermo and he was gonna 100% kill him, actually, literally, for having another vampire turn him, since this is a HUGE disrespect towards him in the vampire world. and ill be honest we as the audience kind of know already that nandor does care abt guillermo... but we also know that nandor isnt really aware of this, and thats hes pretty selfish and proud (and also an idiot). so yeah, hes very well capable of killing guillermo tbh!! but he doesnt!!!!

instead, he tells guillermo hes too important for him to do that, and that hell be sad if he dies! AND he even helps him turn completely by giving him human blood. unusually quick to catch on to what the problem was, i might add. as if he had taken guillermo's vampire hunter's blood and how it would affect turning him into consideration before. AND when he realizes that guillermo is unhappy he not only -as i said before- is the 1st one to notice, but he IMMEDIATLY cooks up a plan to help him revert the process. a GOOD one (wtf) and again, very quickly too, as if he was expecting this turn of events. HECK HE EVEN SAYS THAT EXACTLY he says that he suspected/feared that guillermo wasnt 'cut out' to be a vampire, which i think is something that has come up before in the show but in context im sure we all brushed off as a mere excuse for not turning him, since thats just the reality for familiars in this universe.

in the end, they go back to how things were b4 guillermo was bitten. everything goes back to normal… right? right, except we as the audience have a different perspective on things.

again, we kind of knew that the vampire clique(?) uh yea idk sorry im calling them that rn lol) kinda, sorta, cares about guillermo. maybe. well, now its... somewhat? confirmed, via the guide subplot that vamps are assholes to others bc they just hv a vampire way of expressing things. then again, this whole thing was towards another vampire, and until the last episode they dont see guillermo as a (true) vampire.

clearly theres the plot embryo structure at play here, and i think i now understand guillermo's arc a lot better.

theres something he wants, somethings he's always wanted: to become a vampire. for some LONG 4ss time now hes been very frustrated bc his master doesnt seem to have plans for turning him any time soon. hes growing anxious bc of this but we know thats not the only reason; he clearly thinks the vampires in the house dont value him, dont see him as an equal. he thinks nandor doesnt care about him. and hes not entirely wrong, tbh.

the "final" decision to ask derek to turn him comes from mostly these feelings of being inadequate, of feeling like hes the only one who actually cares (about guillermo himself. about what he wants. about him and nandor's apparently dead end relationship)

so he gets sick of waiting, and he just goes to get what he always wanted by his own means.

and regrets it completely. so much so that at the end he makes the decision to turn back.

so... what it is what he truly wants, then? or, better yet, what does he need? his true wish. why did he want to become a vampire this whole time? what is he after?

in the last ep is also revealed that (apparently?? idk im gonna need a bit more context) its guillermo who choose nandor as his master. or at least, he genuinely thought nandor was a really good choice. the best even. he admires him, wants to be like him. wants to be near him.

guillermo probably admires the vampire's lifestyle more than being a vampire itself. he has a very supportive family but they are also... vampire hunters, so its clear they dont like vampires, and probably disagree with their lifestyle for that same reason, which obviously ties together with it being a religious family and also the fact that guillermo's sexuality is pretty obviously closeted.

i think nandor's most important arc until now was... kind of the opposite but also the same as guillermo's. he tried to become human.

the reason he did this was bc he felt lonely as a vampire. yea being a vampire is cool as fuck but its kind of isolating in a way too when youve got no one to share it with. im not gonna go super in depth talking abt this bc 1) i saw this season whn it came out n havnt rewatched it since n dont wanna misquote anything -.-;; and 2) i think the meaning its also pretty self explainatory. im literally describing it and you can already tell what everything means. of course its guillermo who goes to get nandor back to tell him that thats not who he is.

ok moving on. nandor is p much still alone in the romantic/lifetime partner sense. he alredy tried changing who he is to get a partner (or at least, to have a place where he doesnt feel as lonely) and that didnt make him happy. NEXT, with the help of the genie (sorry idk if thats how u write it eng is not my 1st lang im lazy etc) he tried, on the contrary, to change all his partnerts to the point they werent themselves anymore to accomodate his needs and whims. he tried to find the "perfect" partner, one that did everything he wanted, exactly. well, surprise, that didnt work out either. that didnt make him (or anyone) happy.

at this point i think its p obvious that he needs to compromise with other people. hes too self absorbed, too focused on what he wants as an end goal and doesnt truly see who his partners are as people. for him, they just serve as a role, they just exist to feel this void he has, this loneliness.

YOU TALKING ABOUT THE PARALLELS BETWEEN OFF AND UNDERTALE-

Just, that whole post has so many great just!!! You know?? Its such a good post, and now I wanna rewatch someone's playthrough of the game.

YEAHHHHH DUDE THERES SO MANY ITS CRAYZAYY.

Off is such a weird, trippy, complicated game (not really gameplay wise, but lore wise, yget me), and I know that toby literally did take some inspo from it, but my neurodivergent brain loves finding the similarities between two things and pointing them out to me like some kind of overexcited bird dog.

If you play undertale blind, you’ll probably kill everything in sight because this is how you have been taught to play rpgs your entire life (assuming you have been playing rpgs a lot lol). Throughout the game, you may slowly realize that what you are doing might not be as neutrally necessary as you once thought. And that actually, you might be making yourself into The Bad Guy by acting this way.

off spoilers below if you mind

Off is like that, but that feeling is obligatory. Whether or not you slowly begin to understand that your objective to “purify the world” isnt really the holy mission you thought it was, (which, if you visit the previous zones after you “purify” them, you might realize this very suddenly), there is no pacifist route. You continue, that’s your only option.

But that absolute wipe of all life; the merciless mass murder of monstrous beings in the pursuit of, well, something…(in both games, the player is a character who is left in the dark about the batter/chara’s true intentions until the end) is one of the biggest similarities between the two games for me.

To expand on the player thing: both in Off and in Utdr, it is purposefully made abundantly clear that the player and the protagonist are two separate entities. In undertale/deltarune, this is slightly more subtle, (but no less true), while in Off, Pablo (the judge), and Zacharie both pretty much only speak to you, not the batter. You are called “the puppeteer.” Even the batter speaks about you, and is aware of his lack of control over his own actions. Unlike some other puppet from deltarune, but much like Kris (minus the snowgrave route), he is unconcerned by this.

Now, deltarune. This is a game where we explore worlds created by something called “The Knight”. We navigate through some crazy imagination land, probably brought into being solely through someone’s determination, their mind expanded outward.

At the end of Off, we find out that the world was already destroyed long before we begin the game, and that we are navigating through some crazy imagination land, probably brought into being by someone (Hugo’s) determination, their mind expanded outward.

I like to connect deltarune and off with these themes of apocolypse and creation, although they seem to be happening in the opposite order. 😳

And damn I mean, not only are a lot of the themes between these games similar, with a similar vibe for secret bosses and puzzles as well, but even in Off’s overworld artstyle you can see, like…especially looking at undertale in comparison: The simple but bold and saturated color schemes, the box-like platforms your character is laid upon…they’re both just really simple but effective,I don’t know how to explain it better lol.

Mannn and don’t even get me stahted on the character parallels :,)…

Two royally-appointed judges with a lazy streak and little brothers? Who have neglected their duties and therefore have to fight you in an epic fkin final battle at the end?

Two younger brothers in law enforcement…ruthlessly killed by something seemingly small and innocent…

Two watchful guardians of their own zones, looking after their denizens, and seeing you, a threat (their duty?) and making it their mission to stomp you out.

Self aware shopkeepers…they know they are in a video game, and lemme tell ya, they are apathetic and sad about it! (And a little crazy too)

Two old entities…leaders, rulers, former lovers. One abandoned their post long ago (one of them to live in the ruins and wait for the protagonist, and one of them to live in the void and…wait for the protagonist), and one rules still, neglectful in their own way without really meaning to be.

I don’t know how to end this rant bwaha. I’m running on 3 hours of sleep cut me some slack 😔🤟
