joão swore he almost had a heart attack the first time he saw them.

the tiny, angry red cuts littering your feet and ankles, some fading into soft pink scars, others fresh from your last competition. you had always told him ballet was tough, that it wasn’t just twirling around in pretty dresses, but nothing could have prepared him for this.

you were sitting on the couch, legs stretched over his lap, casually scrolling through your phone like nothing was wrong. meanwhile, he was staring at your feet like they had personally offended him.

‘what the hell is this?’ he blurted out, his fingers hovering over one particularly deep cut near your ankle.

you glanced at him, unfazed. ‘what’s what?’

‘this,’ he practically whined, gesturing wildly at your feet. ‘why do you look like you’ve been fighting for your life?’

you snorted. ‘joão, relax. they’re just cuts from my pointe shoes. they’ll heal.’

‘heal?’ he repeated, horrified. ‘how long have they been like this?’

you shrugged. ‘i don’t know. it happens all the time.’

his jaw dropped. ‘all the time?’

you sighed, putting your phone down. ‘it’s normal, babe. every ballerina deals with it. my feet just need time to recover between competitions.’

joão wasn’t hearing any of it.

‘this isn’t normal. this is self-destruction. why didn’t you tell me?’

‘because i knew you’d react like this.’

he scoffed. ‘of course i’m reacting like this! you’re literally injured and acting like it’s nothing.’

you groaned, throwing your head back against the couch. ‘joão, they’re fine. it’s not like i broke something. they’ll be healed in a few days.’

but he was already shaking his head, carefully lifting your foot to examine it closer.

‘you should’ve told me,’ he muttered, brows furrowed in concern.

‘what would you have done?’ you teased. ‘wrap me in bubble wrap?’

he didn’t answer, which told you exactly what you needed to know.

you laughed, cupping his cheek. ‘you’re ridiculous, you know that?’

‘you’re the ridiculous one,’ he shot back, still frowning at your feet. ‘how can you just ignore pain like this?’

‘because i have to. it comes with the sport.’

he sighed, rubbing a hand down his face.

‘so what, you just suffer in silence?’

you bit your lip. ‘i wouldn’t call it suffering. it’s just part of the process. like how you play with bruises or minor sprains sometimes.’

joão blinked, then scowled. ‘not the same thing.’

‘it’s literally the same thing.’

he huffed, still clearly displeased.

‘okay, but do you at least take care of them? like, properly?’

you hesitated for half a second, and that was all the answer he needed.

‘you don’t, do you?’ he accused.

‘unbelievable.’

before you could stop him, he was already up, marching toward the bathroom.

you sighed, knowing exactly what was coming.

he returned moments later with a first-aid kit, a determined look on his face.

‘babe, really?’ you groaned.

‘yes, really. you clearly need someone to take care of you since you won’t do it yourself.’

you rolled your eyes but let him take your foot in his hands. he was surprisingly gentle, his fingers light as he dabbed at the cuts with antiseptic wipes.

he paused when you flinched, looking up at you with wide eyes.

‘does it hurt?’

‘not really.’

his glare told you he didn’t believe you, but he didn’t argue. instead, he carefully applied ointment to each cut, blowing softly on your skin like it would somehow make the sting go away.

you watched him work, your chest tightening.

‘you really don’t have to do this,’ you whispered.

he glanced up, his gaze softening. ‘i want to.’

you smiled, threading your fingers through his hair.

‘you’re a little dramatic, you know that?’

he snorted. ‘yeah? well, you’re a little reckless, so i guess we balance each other out.’

you laughed, letting him finish bandaging your feet.

when he was done, he pressed a kiss to each foot before meeting your gaze.

‘no more competitions for a while, right?’

‘not for a few weeks.’

‘good. because i’m making sure you actually rest this time.’

‘yes, doctor félix,’ you teased.

he smirked. ‘damn right.’

he pulled you into his lap, arms wrapping around you like he needed to keep you safe from the world.

you sighed, relaxing into him.

maybe having someone fuss over you wasn’t so bad after all.

but joão wasn’t done.

for the next two days, he treated you like you were made of glass. he wouldn’t let you walk barefoot around the apartment, claiming the floors were ‘too rough.’ he brought you socks, ice packs, pillows, anything he thought might help, even though you insisted you were fine.

‘joão, i can literally walk perfectly. i danced on these feet last week,’ you reminded him.

he scoffed, tossing you another pillow. ‘yeah, and look where that got you.’

‘oh my god.’

he followed you around, ready to catch you at the slightest sign of discomfort. if you so much as winced, he was at your side in seconds.

‘are you okay?’

‘joão, i stubbed my toe.’

you groaned, shoving his face away.

but as much as he annoyed you, you knew it came from love.

late at night, when you were curled up in bed, he would trace the scars on your ankles with gentle fingers, his touch barely there.

“Y/n!” Clarisse yelled running around the forest.

You heard her. Only problem you were to busy to answer. Clarisse continued to move about the forest trying to find you.

After a few minutes the stronger girl noticed you crouched down with your back facing her. “Shit.. there you are” the girl panted. You didn’t respond only keeping yourself hidden from her. “Hello? Babe what are yo-“ clarisse stopped once she saw blood pooling around you.

Cautiously clarisse set her spear down against a tree before slowly stepping to you.

You were frozen not knowing what to do, if clarisse saw what you were doing she would hate you and if you ran she would be suspicious. In anxious thoughts you hadn’t realized clarisse turned you around.

Once the She had saw you with a dead rabbit in hands and blood dripping from your mouth she looked down at you with horror. Taking a step back clarisse grabbed her spear storming off.

You threw the dead rabbit aside quickly getting up and chasing after the girl. “Wait wait please let me explain” desperately you tried to catch up to clarisse who was now walking away.

After a few moments clarisse grabbed your face, confused you followed the girls lead allowing you to turn your face in different directions. Eventually she pried your mouth open taking a look at your sharp K-9’s.

We have Robbie Rotten, the dealer's choice character who is unbelievably memetic. He decimated, to the point where one of his rivals only received ONE VOTE! We have Dr. Two Brains, a character who was a front runner from the start, receiving some detailed nominations and also decimating in every comp he was in, up against some pretty tough comp!

I wish some older IDs got reworked, reanimated, and all around buffed.

Some IDs are still going strong, like R. Corp Ishmael, Heathcliff, and W Corp Don, but like. Their animations are so boring in comparison to what's come after 😭😭😭

Also I feel like some launch BL or Kurokumo IDs could have a BIT more sauce to them... though the new IDs added later for both factions have been an unbelievably huge boon, like, Kurokumo is one of the most fun teamcomps in the game now. Always had a huge fondness for the Kurokumo really. Glad they moved away from their conflict with the Blade Lineage story wise as well. The syndicate is bigger than that. While the Blade Lineage is a very noticeable faction to them, it's not everything. Only certain groups in the Kurokumo really pay them any mind.

Also. 7 Association has fallen off so fucking hard. I find them kinda boring though so I don't mind too much...

Also. It feels like a lot of Meursault IDs get the short end of the stick. A lot of 000s feeling more like 00s, and his 00s arguably being better for support on certain team comps (Middle Meursault being special, and Rosespanner Meursault being good at applying tremor count and bursting.) W. Corp Meursault is kinda boring sadly, as fun as applying protection down at turn start can be, and a lot of his other IDs sorta fall off. Bleed count my ass Rhino Meursault is not all that.

okay so the thing is i think the better choice for almost everyone’s game is to evict tucker. he’s a wildcard that could be good at comps and actually wants to win the game - everytime someone is like “well i wouldn’t want to do x to win the game” he’s very “well but it’s a game who gives a shit” and he specifically told rubina he wants to win, he’s determined to break the first in curse. that’s a potentially lethal mix to keep around and risk comping out. and i do in fact think that someone who makes as stupid a decision as use the veto on someone else when they’re on the block NEEDS to be humbled RIGHT AWAY.

The room was one where I was trying my hand at more horror-esque genre/supernatural stuff set in the span of a very niche timeframe and rhymes etc because I thought it was cool. And then i got to the ending and ... to say it fell flat wouldn't be so accurate as much as it would be to say it flatlined. Without having looked at it in over several months I'm diagnosing it with I need to write out one of the characters (wanted to connect it to the bigger fantasy world that really shouldn't be a thing - as fun as it is for me it never works for the story and mostly just undermines it) but anyway said character ended up being too much of a deus ex machina that was kind of unbelieveable

Ad astra I did have like... half of an outline and a solid plot/themes and then google docs literally deleted it and I couldn't get back (either human incompetence on accident or comp glitch i wasn't able to figure it out) But that was about a guy exploring the ocean as a metaphor for the sea (astronaut but like star sailors in the most ship like form). Anyway he was running his entire life from death and spending his last remaining moments trying to figure the meaning of life out of spite because someone told him it was it didn't matter and he said "hell no" and in the process forgot all of his memories so he doesn't know why he's suddenly a philosopher nor what he's running from and along the way he meets his found family :) :) :) (a child who's actually 500000 years old and exiled, a ship that can turn into a cat-sized dragon, and an assortment of other ragamuffins). *takes a breathe* This one I still really like its just anytime I try to recreate the words lost....it doesn't match the original vision and i Kind of Can't Get Past That rn so i just haven't. RIP. I still have delusions this one isn't dead but we'll see.

Batdoc brainrot is literally just what would happen if you put batman and the doctor in the same universe. This one was super fun because I remember *exactly* when I had the idea and then I told my bestie who was there ad we just kinda spitballed a bunch of ideas back and forth and we both ended up stealing it and she wrote something really cool and angsty and i got a lot of good fluffy bits out of it (cuz that's what i do best). Fandom/unrelated/no one asked, no one cares, ramblings:

-timelines shift/change (it doesn’t matter, as long as conversations continue to happen). It’s two years, “awhile,” “fall,” “weeks ago,” etc.

-you don’t hear anything until someone has work to do. Then little snippets happen. Nothing else (really). Shut down of IG seems to in one part bc of how the coupling was received, and I can imagine that it’s easier to shut stuff down (as you enter a new phase), versus keeping it open and potentially navigating drama. It doesn’t seem all that unbelievable considering he wasn’t a social media fan when it didn’t work in his favor.

-the purpose of dropping some real, some fraudulent details to tumblr folks is to build a rapport (same reason to comp con tickets), utilize these small cost outlets. Sometimes the information is legit or true -ISH, sometimes it’s not. (Bc who is admitting they talk to tumblr as a celebrity).

Bearing in mind things can be very much real with these above scenarios. It’s just that the seemingly reactive nature of things, bungled launch, etc makes everything come off as inauthentic/inorganic.

All New Stasis Weapons for Episode: Heresy Reviewed and Discussed In-Depth

This is from the perspective of an endgame challenge player, so I won't be entertaining much in the way of "neat fun rolls," since what's fun for me isn't necessarily what's fun for you and vice-versa. I'll mention them where especially noteworthy, especially if the weapon doesn't have any genuinely good rolls. This is going to be a series split up into one post for all six damage types, because of tumblr's length limitation.

FALSE PROMISES

False Promises is an enhanceable alternative to Krait sporting worse perks and a less desirable archetype. It's up to you to figure out if access to enhanced mods is a make-or-break for you. You'll want to juice the stability on it to make your precision kills more consistent, since 360s have a good deal of kick despite their low RPM. The clean sight aesthetic and consistency-oriented perk pool lends itself more to the Crucible, where it does perform very reliably, but if you want to make her work in PvE you're going to have to work a little harder for it.

Recommended Use Case: Whisper of Shards on pure stasis should allow you to maintain pretty constant Surplus uptime from your own Headstone crystals. Neat synergy!

PEACEBOND

THIS IS NOT A DRILL. 3RD COLUMN HEADSTONE IS REAL. WE'RE SO UNBELIEVABLY BACK. Pick your poison with Peacebond; there's a lot of really intriguing options for PvE packed into an incredible archetype with a pretty juiced statline. Subsistence is almost tempting over Headstone in the 3rd column, with Desperate Measures, Frenzy, Kill Clip, and Desperado all fighting for their spot in column 4. I wouldn't recommend pursuing the Rimestealer synergy, as one stack of Frost Armour isn't enough to be significant on its own, and if you're on pure stasis you have better ways to gain it. Recommended Use Case: Adaptive Burst sidearms are one of the highest minor (red bar) DPS primaries in the game. Peacebond can absolutely shred your lower-tier combatants, with very comfortable ease of use. You'll want to help the low reload speed wherever you can, though.

REDRIX'S ESTOC

As a comp-exclusive reward, the Estoc has one of the goofiest statlines I've seen in a long time. Without a single stat below 50 at base, you can really choose whatever you want for barrel and mag options. I specced fully into recoil direction and reload speed for mine, to make a workhorse that basically plays the game for me. Headstone is your obvious stand-out pick, but I think the snappy and responsive feel of the archetype lends itself more to slaying out with the weapon itself. It's all preference, though! The 4th column is saturated with good PvE perks, including the elusive (and formerly raid-exclusive) Sword Logic, if you're a collector.

Recommended Use Case: Combo Demolitionist into Desperate Measures to create a feedback loop of ability energy and ability kills to maintain a near-constant 30% damage buff for an experience that not only holds your hands for you, but tenderly kisses your knuckles and tells you the violence is over now. Jesus Christ.

QUA FUROR V

Bungie are cowards and don't want you to have fun. If this thing had Headstone with the Wild Card origin trait, I'd be singing its praises to you for a couple paragraphs here for pure fun factor. Unfortunately, it's the only weapon I'm reviewing today without it. Boo. To that end, we'll carry on the memory of Funny Perk and still going as hard as we can into "get these freaks out of my face yesterday" territory with a very Pre-Beyond Light roll of Feeding Frenzy/Dragonfly. There's a lot of enticing damage perks in the fourth column, but 600s are already pretty mean as-is, so I think our time is better used on leaning as hard as we can into the weapon's identity. If you really cared about the optimal setup here, you wouldn't be using the Qua Furor V in the first place. Recommended Use Case: This looks like a pretty strong option for a "primary" with a double-special setup. Feeding Frenzy gets you to 80 reload speed after just two kills, attempting to make up for the largely underwhelming statline. It's a world drop, what did you expect.
